A: Cant find active mixer. new to computers. Sound doesnt work!!

Did you install the drivers for the sound card? After reinstalling Windows you need to install all the drivers for the motherboard. Do you have a drivers disk? Or is this a factory machine that restores the system back to the factory installation?

Hi,

Basically, whenever i try to get sound that message comes up.

I think it happened when i removed something off 'add/remove programs.' I thought it was something else, but i believe it was something that i definately do need!
I have microsoft XP.

Any ideas??? I'm in the middle of a music degree so i need a cure to this ASAP.

Many thanks in advance.

A:No active mixer devices available - been seaching but can't find answer

if you're using the on-board sound,re-install the sound driver (CD)
that comes with your motherboard.

if you're using a PCI sound card,re-install the driver (CD) that comes
with the product or go to your hardware manufacturer's website
& download the latest version of the driver.

Well i just got this new computer last christmas and every about 30 seconds or so the internet disconnects then attempts to reconnect on my computer. Not only that but the internet is very slow takes about 60 secs to load a page. I can't watch videos either because the video loads slowly and it doesn't even play. My other 2 computers have been working fine and this happened when I was out doing something then i came home and my internet on this computer was messed. Now I ran ad-aware virus scan which i have been using for a very long time. It said i had a bunch of cookies and w/e so i deleted them and i did another smart scan. Nothing came up. Help!

Yesterday, my computer randomly started screwing up. There is no longer any sound for ANYTHING, and I've tried all the solutions posted on the net which claims to fix "no active mixer device" error message which i am getting when i try to access volume control. At this time, the CD rom was working perfectly.

After hours, i just left it and went to sleep. And then the sound worked again the next morning. But suddenly, the computer restarts itself. When it comes back on, there is no longer sound.

Now, when i try to just reformat the computer, my CD-Rom will not even work properly, it isn't the actual fault of the CD, but it just won't detect ANYTHING. Not even things that worked the night before.

So now i can't refromat, can't get any sound, can't read any CDs, and randomly the computer restarts itself when the sound starts working, and shows blue screen sometimes just as the computer restarts itself so i can't even read what it says..... like less than a second of blue screen.

NOTE: NO changes were made to anything before these problems started taking place. Nod32 can't detect any viruses either.

A:Can't detect active mixer, (ie. no sound), can't detect CDs (ie, can't reformat)

Hello Maldini92

Turn off automatic rebooting
Right-click My Computer / Properties / Advanced / Startup and Recovery/Settings.
Under System Failure, uncheck the Automatically restart check box
You will then get a BSOD with error message which will help identify the problem. This one will stay

Please post the message such as
STOP 0x00000000A IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
and any drivers named ( *****.sys)

Also
Right click My Computer / Properties / Hardware / Device Manager.
Look for "Yellow" errors

I am getting desperate as I cannot find my way around windows 8 as it does not seem intuitive to me. Just difficult!!! Please any one Help!!!!

Is your sound generally working but just not for this program? Anyway, go to your start page and just type "volume" (without the quotes). You do not need to type into a search box or anything else... just be on that page and a menu will pop up. Then, click on the options boxed in red and your "mixer" will pop up:

HP Pavilion g7, Windows 7 Home Premium, laptop with built-in speakers.

Okay so i accidentally uninstalled SRS Premium Sound and now my sound icon on the bottom right shows a red X and doesn't play sound. It could also be related to restoring my laptop, but sound still worked before i uninstalled SRS sound.

When i hover over the sound icon it reads "No speaker or headphones are plugged in." Plugging in headphones or an external speaker to the headphone jack doesn't work.

troubleshoot doesn't detect a problem. Playback devices only shows AMD HDMI Output, but no speaker option (even when i right click and both are checked). Reinstalling Realtek isn't working.

Device manager does recognize i have ATI HD Audio Device.

I'm willing to restore my computer if that's what it takes, but i don't have the CD that came with it.

I have a problem with dts sound, it randomly switches between headset and speakers output and when it is on speaksers output the sound quality is terrible. when i disbable dts sound i have no problems but then is the sound quality not that great.

A:DTS sound doesnt find my headphone output

Hi

The DTS Studio Sound improves the sound quality (if its enabled)

You can set this sound improvement for ?internal speaker?, external 1 (headphones) or external 2 (external speakers if connected)

For each of the three modes you can configure the surround sound, volume max as well as the bass boost.

So depending on the sound output device you are currently using, you should choose the right DTS Studio Sound output mode.

So I built a computer a while back and was using a downloaded version of vista which was causing me alot of problems so i downloaded yet another version which was a 32 bit modded version. After installing this version my sound quit working. So by this point I was tired of messing with it so i went to the store and bought a legitimate copy of Vista. It is Vista home premium 64bit. I installed this as well as a second video card and 2gb of ram as well. After all of this the sound still does not work. I know the speakers are ok because I plugged them into my laptop and they worked fine. I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them several times but still not getting any sound. The specs on the computer are as follows

evga nforce 780i sli - motherboard
nvidia geforce 9800 gtx (x2 bridged together) - video card
intel core2 quad 2.66ghz - processor
6gb ram
500gb hard drive

If anyone has any ideas on how to get this problem fixed I would appreciate it a whole lot. This is drivin me crazy!

Since my jackstick port is kind of broken, and only work sometimes, im getting tired of using it. I know that my speakers doesn't work for some reason (computer speakers) so i decided today to buy a USB headset, which also happens not to work.

I've tried to look up the driver updates, but the only avaible driver it should be updated. Also i've tried to manually switch over to he USB headset as a output, but i simply doesnt register the input as a soundoutput, i think. I've had the speaker problem since the forced update of windows 10, and i spoke to my friend about it (who also happens to have the same PC as i do) who also shares the problem of not working speakers.

It seems like my computer is not registering my headset at all, as you can see in these pictures: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

Scroll down to the Multimedia section, and see tick the following box:

Does that help?

Have you tried reinstalling the sound drivers?
Have you got onboard sound or a separate soundcard?
If you have onboard sound you may have to reinstall the mobo drivers from the disk you should've got with it. If you haven't got it, you could get the drivers from the mobo manufacturers website.
And if you dunno what mobo you've got, you can download Everest Home Edition to help you find the name and model etc.

Speakers are connected correctly, and powered up, volume isn't muted. Go into the Control Panel > Sound, check the settings, and test the speakers from there.

Check in Device Manager under Sound, video, game controller, make sure there isn't a issue with the drivers. click on the Start Orb > in the Search box type devmgmt.msc

A:the sound card on my pc doesnt work anymore.

It may solve the problem, but first, what is the issue (and history) of the sound card you have now? (i.e.---suddenly stopped?, only one speaker?, etc.) It may be easier (and cheaper) to just diagnose the one you have. A:Sound doesnt work in XP with LAPTOP HP DV 4400

Hello

It's possible that Windows XP doesn't come with built-in driver support for that particular sound card, and hence, you'll need to manually install the driver.

This is a common problem with laptops that are downgraded to Windows XP. Many of the people do not realise that Windows Vista comes built in with a number of drivers already installed, unlike Windows XP.

The prob is other ppl in chatrooms can barely hear me, they say my voice is v. v. faint. I opened the sound recorder and spoke a little and then listened to it. The part i whistled at I hear that ok, but the part where i spoke i can barely hear. I went into every kind of setting i could think of. Now a friend says look at what is selected as ur sound recording device and that i should make that logitech. I checked that and its says 'Realtek HD audio input' and there is no other option in the drop down menu so how can i select Logitech. ???

I am on my work laptop running Win XP and rather than calling IT and having them take my laptop for a day, i thought i would try here first.

I listen to music everyday on this thing while i work. Yesterday someone accidentally hit the Call button on yahoo messenger and called me. It cut off my music and i heard the ring. They ended the call right away because it was a mistake. But since then i get no sound from my laptop at all. Not through the built in speaker, not through headphones and not through USB desktop speakers either. I restarted, nothing. I checked the drivers and it says everything is working. I rant he troubleshooter and got nowhere. I went into the sound manager and made sure i had the right sound device set up as default. Everything seems to be good except i get no sound. No music, no system sounds, nothing. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Update:

I found that only Yahoo Messenger sounds work. I can listen to music through the Messenger. Its like Yahoo Messenger took over my sound card. I uninstalled Yahoo Messenger but the problem is still there. I get no sound from any other programs.

A:5.1 Sound doesnt work at Realtek High Definition Audio Device

Do you have the VIA HD Audio Deck installed with your sound driver. It may be in the control panel, systray or not installed. It should be compatible with your realtek onboard audio. I usually have more luck using this to configure my speaker setup than windows as in may versions it supports jack switching.

I get the message "There are no active mixer devices available" when I try to open the volume control, and the device volume via the control panel is greyed out.

No one knows where the computer came from or what make it is, so I DL'ed AIDA32. According to that, the onboard "audio adapter" is an SiS 7012 Audio Device. I've tried to install the latest drivers (dl'ed from 2 seperate sites, SiS's site and a 3rd party site), but I get an error message when the driver starts to install. "-536870397" followed by "Fail to install audio driver for XP". There is also no apparent listing in the device manager for an SiS 7012 Audio Device. At least, not one that is obvious. The closest I can see is "Multimedia Audio Controller" which has no drivers installed for it, apparently.

One fix I have tried so far is to run "services.msc", but the Windows Audio Service was already running. Restarted the service anyways, to no effect. I have seen a couple of other possible fixes on youtube tutorials, but I'll be damned if I'm going to DL and run executables from personal sites linked in youtube videos.

Almost every day, the audio on my computer will suddenly stop working. Not all of the audio. My AIM still makes those stupid noises. However, Window's media player won't play, and youtube videos make no sound. When this happens, if I try to open the volume control, I get this error.

At this point, I restart my computer, and it works again.

What in the hell is going on?

Right click on My Computer, then properties/ hardware and Device Manager. Look under sound video and game controllers. That's where you will find information about your sound device. If you could list or post a screen shoot of what's under there it would be helpful. If you see any yellow marks, error messages or problems that information would be helpful also.

You should also go into Control Panel and under Sound and Audio Devices and click the Audio tab. Make sure your sound device is present in the Default device box.

I'm BEGGING for someone to help me on this, i've tried a few methods of fixing this but none yet have worked.

I received my computer from my Aunty and Uncle. I'm pretty sure my uncles friend who works with him in the police force made this computer for my aunty and the family. The purpose of receiving the computer is because i have an interest in Scrapbooking and Design and that is what this computer was full off! Expensive Scrapbooking Programs, quote programs, photo editors. All Legit and Premium packages. Well it use to be full of it until i accidently deleted the etire driver that was holding all these huge programs. (no going back, that i do know..... also know im SILLY).
I know my aunty had speakers in this computer and sound did work.
Since ive become the new owner of this computer there has never been a volume option at the bottom of the screen. my headphones won't work and whenever i try and play a song on itunes it just doesnt play. It says the song name and info (even when inserting a mp3 cd) but there is no Play button.
I go to Entertainment - Volume control and it says

There are no active mixer devices available. to install mixer devices, go to Control panel, click printers and Other Hardware, and then click add hardware.
This program will now close.

PLEASEEEE HELP!

i would ask my aunty and uncle but i cant riswk them knowing i deleted their programs. (there was a family fight as to who gets the old computer but i won due to the fac... Read more

Twice my PC has crashed (Emachine W3650) since I bought it back in the day.
Restore drive doesn't seem to work so I borrowed a copy of Windows Home for reinstall. As Home wasn't the original OS I had to go and locate lost drivers. Got it to work again last time. This time however i am having issues with the sound card.

There are no active mixer devices available it says.
Device Manager says I have Legacy Audio drivers (No drop down)
Unknown PCI Device
----------- PCI Simple Communications Controller
----------- Video Controller ( VGA Compatible)
Computer has a built in sound card
Intel detection software says I am running Intel(R) 945GV Express Chipset Family.

I have been up for days beating my head on the wall trying to figure out what i did last time to regain my sound but im afraid no luck. Please help save an innocent computer from its destiny with the dump.

Yes I realize the OS i installed didnt have the chipset drivers I needed but as I stated earlier I had no disk (Secondary drive non operable) and have done this reinstall before and managed the fix... I just cant seem to remember how..

A:No active mixer devices available

I would try the 945G Intel® Chipset Software
Installation Utility on this page: http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-020683.htm

If that doesn't work, read the link towards the bottom of the page on Audio Driver.

Last week, while I'm surfing the net I've noticed that my PC have no sounds. I've checked the Control Panel-> Sounds and Audio devices but it says that there was "No Audio Device". I also try to see if the Volume Control is working, but it isnt. When I'm trying to access the Volume Control an error prompt tells me that:

I've checked the motherboard for the Audio Card, and its in there. Anyways my Audio Card is a C-Media CMI8738. Ive already gone to their useless website but they have no available drivers for download so I decided to download the driver in Downloads.com and one from another site.

When I tried to access the Device Manager, it only shows these devices under Sound, Video and Game Controllers: (None of them have apostrophe or any error signs on them)
-Audio Codecs
-Audio Codecs
-Legacy Audio Drivers
-Legacy Video Capture Devices
-Media Control Devices
-Video Codecs

Ive tried installing the driver in the first three devices in safe mode but it's still not working.

Some remedies that I have already made are as follows:

I read the fixes on the net, and did RUN services.msc I changed the settings to automatic and start.
I downloaded the latest realtec drivers and reinstalled windows xp

when i go to Sounds and audio devices volume is grey'd out and
in audio the default sound playback device is listed as modem # 0 line playback with no way to adjust volume or advanced.

I read about an answer to this issue but the instructions are to vague for someone of my talents. It reads about windows inf and copying and putting it in other files ect.

All drivers are installed, everything should work, but there is no way to adjust the volume, all i get is an error messege. also there was mention about fmob in one error messege. Hours and hours with no fix, I would pull out my hair if i had any left, plz help

Toshiba Satellite A100 VA3 / PSAANC-VA305C Intel Pentium Dual Core. This machine came with Vista Home Premium but crashed for some reason and I couldn't restore Vista even using the neosmart recovery disc and the Toshiba recovery discs.
Toshiba doesn't ship the OS disc and Staples/Office Depot wanted eighty bucks to install an operating system that we have paid for twice now.
I wiped the hard drive of partitions and installed XP Pro. The machine works better than it ever did except now I have no sound. It tells me that there is no active mixer installed. Tried to download WMP11 and it keeps saying it was not installed properly. Downloaded WinAmp and still nothing. All I can find in device manager under Sound, video and game controllers is:
Audio Codecs
Legacy audio drivers
Legacy Video Capture devices
Media control devices
Video Codecs
All of which say "This device is working properly."
Tried downloading audio drivers from Toshiba and on install it say's there is nothing to install them in.

Hi Jaime Marie, Welcome to TSF!

Please try this...

Right click on your My Computer Desktop Icon > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices.

Scroll down to Sound, Video and Game Controllers and see if there are any Yellow Exclamation Marks (!) or Red X's...if there are, Right Click > Update Driver.
Allow Windows? to connect to the Internet to check for updated Drivers, and follow the on-screen prompts.
Reboot the computer.

Give this a go and post back with the outcome.

Try this, go to Run, type services.msc, and in the services, check for Windows Audio. Start it. The sound should return now.

Thats the solution to this problem, and i have had this problem several times myself. I got the solution, but i still dont know whats the cause behind it. I read some forums but didnt get anything about the cause. Maybe i will post this question on this forum, if the problem occurs again with me.

A:active mixer device

I am assuming it is a sound chip that is built into the motherboard.

Even with that, you need to have some driver/sound software that came with it. It sounds like the audio mixer software that controls the volume, etc. on the device has not been loaded, or is corrupted.

First thing to do is to see if you have any software for your sound card( still a soundcard, tho integrated with the motherboard). Then, go to device manager( start>settings>control panel>system...second tab). and check for a category called Sound, video and game controllers. See if there are any devices with a yellow " ! " ( conflict ) or a red " X" ( Device not working properly). If so, note what they are and be sure you have drivers to them. Once you have verified that, select the devices and remove them. Reboot windows and let it " find" the multimedia devices. One of the options will be to use the drivers you have. Choose that, put the disk in , and browse to where the drivers for your sound card are and let it reinstall.

Hope that is helpful to you.

Hi,

I'm running a Dell Latitude D430 and just fresh installed Windows XP SP3. Everything is working fine except it does not have audio. The sound card is integrated in the motherboard.

When I try to open the Volume Control, it gives me this message:

"There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware.

This program will now close."

I tried installing an HD audio driver from Dell's support website (Sigmatel), but it just made the computer slow and still did not give it audio. I used System Restore to revert it back to the fresh install state.

I also took a look at the Windows Audio service (services.msc), but it seemed to be working correctly.

Anyways, do any of you have any ideas about this problem?

I see you have realtek onboard sound. Open the Sound Manager and in the information section try changing the "Display icon in notification area" setting a few times and see if it gets it working again.

If not, one other question do you use multiple monitors? Sometimes this can cause the volume icon to malfunction as it loses track of where it is!

You can get them here, download the file, it is a self extracting zipped archive.
Create a folder on your desktop, cut and paste the file into it, then double click the file to decompress the archive. After decompression there is a readme text file with installation instructions.

Good luck

Hi All,

I am new to this community and this is the first time i am posting.

My computer doesn't show volume control in system tray and Audio is completely gone. When I tried to get that from accessories it gives me a message that there are no active mixer devices available and tells me to go to control panel and add hardware.

Let me tell you what I have done so far. I ran msconfig and found "Windows Audio" and it was okay since there was check mark besides it. Alternately I ran %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc which takes me to the same place and everything seems okay.

Then in control panel - sounds and audio devices - volume tab completely grayed out, on audio and voice tab it says the default device is modem#0 line play back ( I don't know why..!) and same thing for sound recording.

I have been working on this for 2 days but can't figure out. Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated.

And also, none of my USB seems working and doesn't detect any connections like my external hard drive.

Hoping to hear some solution...!!

Thanks..!!

A:"There are no active mixer devices available" and USB doesn't detect ext. hard drive

Sometimes, it takes a reformat and reinstall to get things working. Others here will have solutions that will sometimes work temporarily. But the complete reformat and reinstall is the most reliable, we have found.
Do you use a USB printer - scan - fax - copier? We find that there is some sort of relationship with this problem you describe, and certain Epson, HP, and Lexmark multifunction printers and USB failures. In those cases, a total uninstall and removal from the registry, then reinstall from downloads seems to be a good fix. In others, the multi-function printer never works right again.

Volume on my laptop does not work. When I click on my volume control I get the infamous error message. Full message: There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware. This program will now close."

I've tried numerous searches on google/forums but nothing seems to work. I tried the services.smc, Ive tried the "machine.inf" copy/paste method. Tried to reset the BIOS to default in the setup menu (not sure if i really did this right but...). Nothing seems to be working.

The sound worked before I had to delete the partition and reinstall Windows XP. Had a virus or something so I had to delete the partition and reinstall like I said. It's Windows XP Professional.

I got the laptop from Cyberpowerpc.com. Phoenix brand motherboard (i think that is a brand, Everest said the BIOS type was phoenix anyway, it says the actual motherboard name is Unkown). When I bought it, the sound said: Built-In AC97 Sound Card if that helps. I was pretty sure I had "Realtek AC 97" Audio driver before the crash but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Mothboard ID (not sure what this is, its from "Everest" ): MVINA001.86C.0000.D.0810221521

My Processor is Intel if that helps...
OS: Win XP Professional
I tried installing Windows service pack 3 but it said I already had it? (maybe it came with my windows installation)

So, I asked this at "Am i infected? What do i do?" section and boopme told me that i got Bootkit infection. Also asked me to create a new topic.

So heres what i want to do...
I have a mic input port on my laptop along with my webcam which has a microphone built into it (logitech quickcam pro 9000) and also windows XP SP2 pro
What i want to do is to take the audio feed from the webcam and the audio feed from the mic input and merge them into 1 feed for recording, so basically i will need a virtual input to which i can put both these inputs to...
ex: (other situation with video) I have 2 video feeds go into my laptop... a capture card and my webcam... im able to pop them into this program called WebcamMax and it will output a third video feed called WebcamMaxVideoFeed which will contain my webcam and any special effects i want (such as putting in the feed from my capture card in the corner) so if i want to show people on msn my webcam along with something im capturing i am able to select the webcamMax feed and they can see whatever feeds i want to show them at the same time...
I want to do this exact same scenario but with audio...

Inquiry: Does anyone know of any software out there that will do this?
One last thought:
Windows XP and my audio drivers on my laptop (RealTek) already seem to do this but only with the audio lines that my soundcard originally had equiped on the laptop (Front micJak, built in Mic and Stereo Mix) if i plug in my webcam, it will know theres another microphone there (i can select it from my microphone list on msn messenger and any other program with simmilar tasks) but it will now show up... Hey everyone, need some help with this problem...I've left it alone for awhile but it's just getting too annoying.

So, when I start up my computer, everything is fine...Until I open the internet that is. After a minute or two a random channel appears in my volume mixer with the title "name not available." It plays odd things from something like a generic radio show to t.v. shows and I have no idea what is causing it.

I saw the thread on prep work for this type of topic so here are the logs from DDS

I know, this isn't a computer question, but maybe y'all can help. I have a Radio Shack sound mixer that I know works but that I'm having trouble hooking up properly to my stereo receiver. I don't have a manual for either so this is frustrating. Also, if there are no jacks labeled "auxiliary" on the back of the stereo, which jacks are in fact to be used as auxiliary? Thanks.

Hello. Ever since yesterday I've been having strange sounds coming from my computer. It's garbled and laggy sound coming out of something called Name Not Available in the sound mixer. It sounds like a woman trying to speak but it's so distorted and laggy there's not way to tell what she's saying. I googled around and found that I might need to mess with a registry editor. I'm not all that good with that so I'd rather get help from someone who knows more about computers than me. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium.

A:Name Not Available in sound mixer?

Hi Talishi,

Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop.
There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.
 rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/
Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.
A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
Do not reboot until instructed.
If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.
After the tool has finished running, a text file named Rkill.txt should be located on the desktop. Please copy and paste the contents into your next reply.

I have been to several sites, researching several problems and none of them are mine.

My Current problem is my sound use to work, and now it just doesn't. This happened after I had to disassemble my desktop and change power supplies.
I am sure most of you will suggest the following problems so let me list what I have done.

I previously thought it was my back sound port so i turned on the front set and the USB and Microphone port work so it is the sound, along with the computers lack of picking up the fact their are usable devices.

Next might be the BIOS is activated for sound.. Yes it is..

Are all drivers and your overall OS up to date.. Yes it is..

Have you tryed more than one type of speaker.. Yes, Logitech 5.1 Surround, Apple Headphone/mic buds, old monitor with small terrible speakers... None of these worked.

I appologize if I seem aggravated this has been pulling at my nerves for a while..
I also tried going into the Services and stopping starting restarting ect..

Please Please someone help me, Thank you in advance

A:Revenge of the "No Active Mixer Devices"

First go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and hit enter. In the Device Manager is there any yellow marks for your Sound? If not, take note of the name of the Device for sound. Now go to Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices/Audio tab. Under Sound Playback Devices is the same sound device listed as the one in Device Manager? If not, then take the drop down arrow and make it so. Now hit the Volume Button and make sure nothing is checked Muted and the Volume is all the way up.

Hey,
I've got a frustrating problem. Just built a new computer and installed a new soundcard (omega striker 7.1). I uninstalled the audio drivers that came with my motherboard then installed the audio drivers with my sound card.
Everything works except for 1 problem - the sound slider at the bottom left does not open and the audio mix does not open either. I have looked everywhere, reinstalled drivers, took out my sound card put it back in, uninstalled everything, reinstalled everything - no luck. Even the motherboard soundcard with drivers will not allow the slider to open.

Dont know what to do.
Any body had a similar problem?
