Q: HP 4540S Can’t access fingerprint reader for log-in after wi...

Upgraded from Windows7 professional fairly smoothly. During upgrade Windows 10 required an un-install of the HP Protect tools and all of the associated files; I assume this was the program using the finger print reader when I first purchased the lap top The BIOS is set to allow the biometric device. Device Manager shows the ?Validity Sensor? and it is the latest driver 4.5.133.0. Did the setting change from gpedit.msc and went to Admin tab to allow use of biometric device and log in using biometric device. I even went to power settings and unchecked the attribute shutting off biometric as a power savingsUnder the windows 10 settings for Accounts under sign on options, there is no attribute for biometrics and/or face recognition. I added a PIN hoping it would appear, but nothing. Windows ?Hello? is none existent Any help or suggestions appreciated

Well after spending hours with windows tech support they were able to verify that the validity driver that HP hs will not work with windows Search of the forums found a link to Lenovo for an updated driver for the validity sensor device..it is packaged as a Synaptics driver http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds103635 BTW- Synaptics now owns Validity Sensor Uninstall all HP drivers one by one in Device Manager The FP reader will ultimately show as an unklnown device Install Lenovo Windows 10 driver pack...be-boot computer and the the devive will re-show with the updated driver Well what d you know, now Windows Hello shows up in the accounts folder and you can use your finger print reader Shame we have to go to another source instead of HP updating their driver list

Good day,
Got my new and shiny E7470, but there is some trouble in paradise.
Is there a way to improve fingerprint reader? This thing is complete <profanity>. Half of the time it does not recognize the finger and when it recognized, it just takes too long. Updated all drivers and software to the latest, as per dell support suggestion. Still <profanity> :D My old Vostro 3350 FP reader works better in any case.
And the second question is, can the nfc read tags? Installed a couple of programs from windows store, but they do not show the tags info. When the sound is on and I place a tag on the reader, there is chime and that is all. Device manager shows, that device is active and working without problems.
NFC card should be Mifare Plus.

A:How to improve fingerprint reader and can the nfc reader read tags? e7470

Received my E7470 few days ago same exact problem. Go to Dell Support website download and reinstall the Chipset Drivers 10.1.1.9 ,A01
Seems there is problem after updating the ControlVault driver. This fixed my issue.

I have a dell usb fingerprint reader that worked on Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit and won't work on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. In vista I installed Dell Embassy Suit and it took care of everything for me. Of course vista didn't install its own driver to it. The minute I plugged in the fingerprint reader to Windows 7 it installed a driver. However this driver must not be any good because Windows 7 does not recognize it as a fingerprint reader when I try to enable its use to log onto Windows. Dell Embassy Suit can use the reader, but for some reason when I try to store fingerprints it will give me an error. Sometimes when I log onto Windows it will ask me to slide my fingerprint. When I do this it just asks for my user name and password directly after I swipe my finger. Its not super important, but I would like to get it working. Thanks for any help in advanced! -Kevin

Hi, I got a laptop with DigitalPersona software for the fingerprint reader. Now it works great with logging in and stuff. But it gives me problems with firefox in general. Also when I want to use it to log into facebook, I would try set it up, but it would always select the wrong username fields, and doesnt recognise the password field. HELP!! If you go to the facebook login, you will notice there is the username and password aread at the top, and the fields for becoming a member at the bottom.. IT ALWAYS SELECTS THE BOTTOM FIELDS, so its a bit weird. Please help!

A:Help with fingerprint reader

With Facebook, you have to be a bit creative to add its login to DigitalPersona fingerprint system. You have to do this only once, afterwards you can then use your fingerprint to login.

First, leave email and password fields empty and click Login.
New window opens telling about incorrect login credentials.
On this page you can setup fingerprint login normally.

I have a new laptop with Vista and a fingerprint reader. How do you set it to AUTOMATICALLY go to accepting your fingerprint as a login, withOUT having to click through 2 login screens first? And can you set it to ONLY accept a fingerprint as a login, without giving an option for entering a username/password? Thanks a bunch!

A:Using Fingerprint Reader

Depends on the make and model of the system and the software that comes bundled with the fingerprint reader. That should be available with the documentation that came with your system.

Hi Everyone, I have got my new probook last week and I am continuously facing this fingerprint reader issue, Whenever I try to enroll my fingerprint, it say "fingerprint reader is not connected"  .. I have tried different fingerprint drivers from hp official website but none of them worked..   Does anyone knows the exact solution?

@Usman_Ahmad? You can use the Fingerprint Driver listed for your notebook at your Driver pages:Synaptics (Validity) Fingerprint Sensor Driver Driver:sp74167 Synaptics-Validity Driver V4.5.321.0A Commentary Windows 10 provides its own "fingerprint logon" software program set.  You do not need any other security software installed to use the Windows 10 logon.  Windows 10 (fingerprint) logon does not work with websites; Windows logon will get you into the computer by letting you use a fingerprint to log into your account. Windows 10 requires that you assign a PIN number in PC Settings > Sign-in Options to enable the fingerprint scanner.  Why?  Microsoft has added this additional security to allow access to the fingerprint scanner / software.  It is best if you write down / remember the PIN -- you will need it if the fingerprint software fails - and this does happen.  Nice thing about PIN -- it is tied to the hardware; no one can use it to remotely log into your computer.  NOTE:  You still need a Windows Password assigned to your account (ie., your local password or your Microsoft password used for password logins) -- PIN and password are not related.  PIN allows you access to fingerprint and perhaps other login methods (Hello, Picture). Additional Local Admin AccountAdditionally, it might be a good idea to add an additional local account that has administrative privileges.  If you... I am thinking about buying a fingerprint reader and I would like to know the pros and the cons.

A:Fingerprint Reader Why or Why Not?

Pros:

Can be useful with the right Win 7 compatible software - log in to forms/passwords.

Cons:

Your finger can be cut off to gain access, and even with a password, your system can be compromised, so options will need to adjusted in the software.

Should I upgrade the laptop to have a fingerprint reader and what features do fingerprint readers have now?

Thanks!

A:Fingerprint Reader

Pretty much that's it. I believe you can also preprogram website passwords into it so you can login with one swipe, but the only websites that don't automatically log you in are banking sites and sites that the reader won't recognize the login screen on anyways.

I had a computer last year for school that had a finger print scanner, and it got used very little.

fingerprint scanners are far more reliable that the webcam facial recognition that some laptops have, but it's easy to just type in your password.

Hope you're using not an HP? I just tried to use my intergrated Fingerprint reader by downloading the SoftPaq from HP and got locked out of my system. After the Softpaq installed, I registered my index and middle finger (per the instructions) and I restarted, not only could it not find my Fingerprint database..it would not let me login using my PW?!!! (Error msg: Unable to locate creditial manager). Oh btw, had to format HD and start over. (Could not even login using safe-mode).
Per the HP forum..it is nothing but a headache and all advise not to attempt using this as a login method for a couple of yearss until it is debugged.
I have a MS Keyboard w/ Fingerprint Security that worked much better but..of course there's no Vista Drivers for IT and can't use it either?
Hope this saves you countless hours of frustration

This product is more for fun than actual security. You can use this for boot but you can still type in the password making it nothing more than a convience to log in. The only other thing that it does is remember login and password information. If I where to guess it creates a file of these passwords actually making your system a little less secure. However, saying you have a fingerprint scanner is cool in an odd sort of way.

Hello,

I have a HP DV6700t laptop with Vista SP1. Recently, the fingerprint reader stopped working. Upon start-up it says that the fingerprint reader is not detected. I believe this may be related to an issue with a new driver downloaded from Windows Update called AuthenTec Inc. AES2501A. However, I have tried rolling it back to previous driver and still had the same problem. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Go to this link and select your version of Vista (regular or 64 bit), then download the driver AND the software for the fingerprint reader.

Uninstall the driver and software from the Control Panel...Programs applet, then install the stuff you just downloaded. Reboot and see if it works.

Tried compatibility mode, no luck. The biggest issue is the driver, if I had the proper driver for the reader I am sure it would work.

I purchased one of these and I cannot get the software to work with vista/windows 7 x64 operating system. It came with xp digitalpersona software. I looked and could not find drivers that worked with x64. I did get digitalpersona personal 4.0 it never had the drivers to work. Can anyone help.

Win 10/P50 I have used the fingerprint reader since day one w/this machine. Yesterday I needed to confirm my password and logged in using the password instead of the reader. Ever since, the initial background screen does not recognize the reader. I click through to the login which is expecting a password. I click on options and there are two. One is a PIN and I forgot what the other is but it's not fingerprint. I looked in Control Panel where Lenovo used to have the reader setup and zilch. I opened the Windows Sign In options and there's no apparent toggle for the reader? ? Mark

A:Restarting fingerprint reader?

In Windows 10, fingerprint enrollment and login is handled by Windows itself.
Check in Settings -> Accounts -> Sign-in Options and make sure your fingerprint is set up there.

I can get it to install and show working ok under device manager. I can also get the fingerprint reader to light up and seem to accept finger print but the recognition software doesn't seem to interpret the read image as when you try and setup under registration wizard it accepts the finger but just shows as incorrect scan.
The driver version I am using is Digital Persona 3.0.0.187.

You mean to log into Windows at the Welcome screen using your fingerprint?

If that's what you're asking if 3-4 repeated attempts fail, the fingerprint function will get temporarily inhibited and you will now need to click on the other Welcome screen icon to manually enter your Windows password via keyboard.  Each reboot this starts over, so after clicking on the fingerprint icon on the Welcome screen you'd once again get another 3-4 fingerprint login attempts.  Etc., etc.

Hi guys, this is my first post here.I just bought an HP ENVY a week ago, and everything was working fine till I updated the fingerprint reader and now it isn't working anymore. I can't set up the login by Windows Hello, it always says that I'm not scanning properly and flashes with a red light, but the thing that worries me the most is that the light on the sensor turns on and off even when it's not supposed to. For example: I open a new tab on Chrome and it goes on and off for like two minutes. Yesterday it went on and off all the time. This obviously this drains out my battery, so I wonder what could I do to solve this. The problems started when I updated it. Thank you for your attention.

I've been using Windows 7 Ultimate for a few years now with AuthenTec Protector Suite 2012 installed and a TrueMe fingerprint reading device.

The Protector Suite software allowed me to login to windows using a fingerprint and to use fingerprints to open password protected files as well as entering passwords into web screens. The software maintained a database, which allowed any entry of a password to be stored against a fingerprint.

Consequently, I've become used to simply swiping the fingerprint reader to enter all my passwords. Brilliant!

Along comes Windows 10 and I can't get Protector Suite 2012 to install. It gives the error "To use this product, Windows Biometric Framework must be enabled.". I can successfully setup Windows 10 Hello to use the fingerprint reader to login to Windows 10, but this is a small fraction of the potential of using fingerprints.

Anyone any idea on how to enable Windows Biometric Framework. By the way I've already tried using gpedit.msc to Enable "Allow the use of biometrics" but this doesn't appear to make the slightest bit of difference.

Alternatively, is there any Windows 10 compatible software out there that will do more than simply allow me to use my fingerprint reader to login. I would like to use it to enter passwords for protected files and web page inputs.

I performed a clean, fresh install of Windows 10 Pro alongside my existing Windows 7 Ultimate, so I can dual boot. Until I get ALL the functionality I ... Read more

A:Fingerprint reader not connected

Geeezus... I'm an IT guy so I kinda gotta know what I'm doing but this was a mess. I uninstalled and reinstalled a bunch of software, mostly Dell, changed a bunch of settings in the Embassy Security Center and BIOS. Finally got it to work but unfortunately I have no easy steps for future searchers to follow cause I changed a lot and don't really know what did it.  One thing that just happened was in the Device Manager, I uninstalled a device that simply wouldn't start, called "Dell ControlVault w/ Fingerprint Swipe Sensor" which kept erroring with "This device cannot start (Code 10)", which forced Windows to find and use another driver that works. New name of the device is "Control Vault w/ Fingerprint Swipe Sensor", loosing the Dell brand name and instead identifying itself with Broadcom. Perhaps that did, I'm not sure. All I know is that it finally works now.

Hi, I have purchased the Elitebook with the fingerprint reader, which I thing is great, and it worked fine initially.  Than I had some trouble and our company tech reinstalled windows and reset the BIOS.  Now the finger print reader is not working anymore.  Windows sees it in the Device Manager but I can not start it in the Biometric device (grayed out). The message indicates that it is managed by the group policy.  I have worked with our IT people and they stated that their group policy does not prohibit the use of the fingerprint reader. Can it be that a setting in the BIOS is wrong after the BIOS was set to default?

I use Lenovo Thinkpad T450 that has Windows upgraded from 8 to 10. I did all instructions on this link - https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/Fingerprint-support-on-Windows-10-ThinkP... - I updated BIOS and chipset drivers.- I checked program list. There is no Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro.- I updated fingerprint reader driver from Device Manager. (Driver Version - 4.5.507.0)- I created PIN for Windows Hello. However, whenever I try to setup Fingerprint using Windows Hello I keep getting an error. Click on Setup under Fingerprint > SuccessClick on Get Started > SuccessEnter the PIN > SuccessScan my finger on the finger print scannet > Error: Sorry, something went wrong. Close Windows Hello, and then try going through the setup again. I have tried the above steps many times and still facing the same issue.

It is best to leave things as they are as long as the software is quiescent. This way it is a simple matter to reinstate your enrollment when you wish to use SimplePass logins. Merry Christmas!

I ordered a brand new Thinkpad Yoga 260, eveything is fine and I love the machine, except for the fingerprint reader which is not detected and not working. It looks like a hardware problem with the fingerprint reader :I have never seen him it blinkingit doesn't show up on device manager (and I already checked for hidden devices : nothing)it is activated into the BIOSno trace of a fingerprint option on Windows settings under accounts / connexion options (not sure of the naming in english as my Windows is in french)no more luck when trying to install the latest Synaptics FP driver from Lenovo :  a window opens, I click start and the window closes itself after 5 seconds, then nothing special is happening anymore. Hi

I don't have that Thinkpad model, but for what I remember in some other model the Fingerprint reader was internally connected to an USB port.

You can check some programs like HWInfo and check where is the fingerprint reader plugged to see if Windows recognize there is a deviced plugged on it. It can also be interesting for you to grab the hardwareID to know the manufacturer of it.

Which Windows version are you using?
There is also some fingerprint drivers on the Yoga 260 support site for Win10 and Win7.

Maybe you can also give it a try.

I have a problem with two things:
Installing the fingerprint reader(have re-installed vista, have worked before) don't work.
The innstall just disappeares and nothing happens after that.

And the dvdstation opens all the time, without anyone touching the computer.
It happened after I reinstalled vista, have reinstalled before, but didn't happen then.
It still reads cd/dvd's, but opens itself all the time.

My wife wanted me to look into Fingerprint Scanners and I see a KByte Fingerprint Security Reader for $12. People have said that on 64 bit Win 10 Pro no drivers are needed and that they are built in to the OS. But, can we add this to only use with LastPass without having a Windows 10 password?

A:Can I use a Fingerprint Security Reader with NO Win 10 Password?

Hello MPSAN,

I'm afraid that Windows Hello for fingerprint requires that you setup a PIN first, and a PIN requires that you setup a password first.

Hello all and thanks in advance,

I have lost my admin password - i have a vaio laptop with the fingerprint reader (that works fine)

When I got the computer I entered and admin password (no other users, just me) and recorded said password in outlook on my BlackBerry contacts.

I never actually had to use it because I have the fingerprint reader.

Anyway, I tred enterting the password today and got a fail (just wanted to see if it works) - I either recorded it wrong in my BB (unlikley but oh well) or something has happened..

In any case - I have searched and found the password reset tutorial on this page which I will attempt, but I wonder if there is anything easier that I can do since I can actually get into the computer via thefingerprint reader? I think the tutorial is written for people who cannot get in at all.

Hope this is in the right place.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

My Tecra Z40 arrived with Win 8.1.
From the start I could not use the Fingerprint Utility.
When accessing the utility nothing would happen for a moment and then the error: 'Could not connect to the fingerprint reader' eventually popped up.

I could also not use the built in Win 8.1 fingerprint enrolment (Error: This device has not suitable biometric device).(PS mind that this built in feature is now metro-embedded and no biometric device settings are now present in the control panel in Win 8.1!)

The problem persisted despite the latest Fingerprint Utility (that comes with the drivers) were installed for Win 8.1. 64 bit directly from TOSHIBA website and despite that a biometric device was always present in the Task Manager ('this device works properly')!

SOLUTION:

After literally weeks of searching (including getting help from the shop and from Toshiba service) I could finally solve the issue.

I uninstalled the driver and the fingerprint reader from the device manager (only then are the fingerprint reader drivers really removed).
Then I cleaned the registry (I used CC cleaner software) (otherwise installing again was failing for some reason).

Finally I installed an equivalent Fingerprint Utility and the driver for Tecra Z50 (fp-sw-20140605164020.zip) (which I expected to be use the exact same sensor)...and since, everything works fine.

I can now access the Fingerprint Utility and use the fingerprint log on in Windows.

Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but feel free to let me know if this needs to be re-directed. I've had an Elitebook 840 G2 for about 2 months with Windows 10 installed. I frequently used the fingerprint reader to log-in. However, as of yesterday, the fingerprint reader no longer seems to be working. I'm unable to log-in with the reader and when I try to set up a new fingerprint, the reader doesn't read it. I tried looking for the fingerprint reader driver but that's not listed for my model anywhere. Any guidance for what next steps are would be great. Thanks!

I just purchased a modest Toshiba laptop to replace my five year old HP laptop. Being new to W10, I am not impressed with and do not trust the use of a PIN rather than a sophisticated password.

The USB reader I bought for the Toshiba is an Eikon using Authentec driver. I dislike the apparent limitation of Windows Hello to only associate the fingerprint reader with the PIN. But my real issue is that this prevents my using the FP reader to also open my password program.

On my HP laptop, I have this capability with SimplePass. I actually attempted to install HP's SimplePass on the Toshiba, but it would not install.

Unless I'm overlooking a way to do this with W10, I'm looking for a utility that will store password(s) for use by the FP reader both for logon and accessing, at the minimum, my password program.

I do not wish to change the password for my password program to the Hello PIN just to achieve the dual function.

Any enlightenment and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

I just bought an E7240. I had windows 8, then updated to windows 10. I ran windows update and updated everything I possibly could, then noticed in device manager that there wasn't any driver installed for the fingerprint scanner. I went into the dell website to install the DDP ST (and followed their exact instructions), and then an error came up saying that says "a pending file rename operation exists." I found a registry workaround for it, then another error came up saying my system didn't meet the requirements which I found odd, because I just updated everything. Anyways, I ignored it and update anyways. After the restart, I installed the control vault firmware. The DDP software was very choppy, and low resolution. I checked device manager. Although the drivers show up, device manager has a low resolution has well, as it did not earlier. Trying to ignore it, I tried to enroll my fingerprint. It didn't work at all, and the software kept freezing/crashing. It's very odd, because my device manager and the DDP software is low resolution. Everything else on my laptop works like a champ

I had to reboot 3x this morning before I could get it to work. It worked for a while and now nothing. There is no red x showing, but it's not scanning at all.

I went to HP site and downloaded lastest version of the reader, rebooted and still nothing. Any ideas?

Hi,I was wondering, whether there are actually some Lenovo guys around, or at least people who can get in touch with them. Many people have been trying to get the new fingerprint reader (by Validity / Synaptic) to run under Linux. However it seems, that there simply is no driver around.I'm talking about the fancy new fingerprint reader found in the current Thinkpad generation (Yoga X1, X1 Carbon, X260, X460, T460s, T460p).The linux community already tried to develop some driver, however it seems, that the traffic is encrypted. The only, however very tiresome possibility would probably be to port the Windows driver... See https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94536 for infos. However in the recent years Lenovo did quite some good work for Linux support, thus I was wondering, whether it would be possible for this to continue. Greetings,grb19

A:M$ fingerprint reader incompatibility w/ firefox

I doubt you'll ever see one. This is part of MS trying to hold on to the browsers by not making their software compatible with it. Try using Windows Update or Office Update through firefox, doesn't work.

But can you blame them? Why would you want your software to work on someone elses software who's stealing business from you? From a business stand point, you wouldn't, which is why they won't.

Hello,I have a brand new T540P with a Validity fingerprint reader.  Rougly 80% of the time, the Fingerprint reader is unresponsive at the windows login screen after waking the computer from sleep. It works 100% of the time when booting from an off position, however. Once logged in, it also works 100% of the time. The issue only arises when logging into windows. Things I have tried-uninstalling/installing device in device manager and finger print manager pro software-setting fingerprints through both fingerprint manager pro software (lenovo) OR through the built in windows fingerprint control panel options-disabling "allow windows to turn off this device to save power" in device manager. I should note as well that I have another T540P that I ordered as a replacement. Both models experience the same issue. Is this a platform wide issue affecting all T540P models? This is frusterating.

This is probably really obvious, but I recently purchased a new laptop with a Fingerprint reader. It came with a fingerprint reader (an AuthenTec AES2501A), and Windows installed all the drivers for it and stuff, and it came with this little program to "learn" your fingerprint for each finger (which I went through), but I was hoping you could actually "do" something with it, LOL!

Is this feasible?

Thanks.

Hi, It sounds like there may be a conflict regarding the newly installed software - although not ideal, you may be able to get around this as follows. Shutdown the notebook.  Tap away at f8 as you start the notebook to enter Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and hit enter.  If this loads Ok, from the Start Menu, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools and launch System Restore.  Pick a restore point at least 24 hours before the issue occurred and then proceed with the restore process.  When complete, Windows will reboot as normal. Regards, DP-K

These two pieces of hardware have been working intermittently for the past several months but now have failed completely. Any leads on what could be causing this, or quick hardware possibilities to check? Thanks!

There is a ribbon cable connecting them to the motherboard but usually to reach it you have to first remove the keyboard and maybe the palmrest to see where it plugs in.

Hi everyone, long time no post;
I am in dire straits with this one and I'm hoping someone can help me!

I just recently purchased a Samsung T10 Notebook computer with a built in fingerprint reader. I bought it used, for only 300, and the thing works like a monster (except now I have a broken screen thanks to one of the guys at my job).
Unfortunately, the computer is korean. It's running in english, and all the keys are english with korean translations, but the point is, the website where it directed me for drivers was zaigen.co.kr. As far as finding the right driver, I couldn't. For some reason, there's no listing of my model number, unless it's under ST10, but then there's no fingerprint driver for download. I've done some extensive yahoo and googling, but I just can't seem to find anything.

What I've done so far is research the computer model to try to find out the brand of fingerprint reader to maybe track down the software myself. As far as I know (without opening the computer, I don't know how to tell who makes the sensor), I traced this model of computer back to a fingerprint reader made by ST Microelectronics - the TouchChip. They sold their fingerprint technologies division to UPEK.
I downloaded the their program Protector Suite, but it says there's no device connected.

Since upgrading to Windows 10, I have not been able to use the fingerprint reader on my HP ZBook 14. In the Windows documentation, it says this should be through Windows Hello, however in Windows settings I get the message that Windows Hello is not available on this device. Is there a driver or patch available to enable the fingerprint reader on Windows 10? Thanks

I used to logg in via fingerprint reader (windows 10) without any problems, now the fingerprint reader doesn't react any longer when I draw the finger. I somehow managed to delete all passwords in the password manager (not even sure about this as I actually don't understand how all the components work together) hoping that this would solve the problem. Not the fingerprint reader software keeps asking me to register a new finger. Everything seems to work out fine (I can choose a finger to be registered, type in my windowns password) untill I'm being asked to draw the finger over the fingerprint reader: Nothing happens! The indicator which shows how much of the finger has been scanned doesn't show anything at all. Looks like the software works, but the fingerprint reader itself is dead. However, looking into the system information the 'TouchStrip Fingerprint Sensor' (WBF advanced mode) seems to work correct. Please help. I have not a clue how to find out what goes wrong here.

Hi,

I'm not having any luck finding a compact Bluetooth/wireless fingerprint reader that is supported by Windows 8.

I'm running Windows 8 Pro x64.

Does anyone have any recommendations or where I should search?

Thanks!

A:I Need A Bluetooth/Wireless Fingerprint Reader

They are all USB, wireless won't work before you sign in to your computer. Check ebay, lots to choose from at decent prices.

Does anyone else have the problem of the fingerprint reader not working after hibernate? This is an intermittent problem, doesn't happen all the time, but frequently. Come out of hibernation, it is blinking, swipe my finger, nothing happens, blinking stops and the reader doesn't work after that. I have to enter my Windows password and it doesn't work for any websites. Have to reboot to re-engage the reader. I'm on Win 7 Home Prem 64 bit with latest drivers for the fingerprint reader and lastest update for Authentec software.

A:Fingerprint reader not working after hibernate

So here's the solution(s) as found by Pokey and me: Option 1:  Computer, Properties, Device Manager, Biometric Devices, Validity Sensors, Properties, and the Power Management tab, Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." Option 2:  Try disabling and enabling the "Credential Manager" service by going into Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services, Credentials Manager.  Even though the Credentials Manager status is ?Started,? stop the Credentials Manager service and restart it. Find more information here:  https://support.authentec.com/Forum/tabid/318/forumid/49/threadid/600/scope/posts/Default.aspx Option 3:  Do both.

Last weekend I Installed the RTM on my notebook (hp tx2000z) and everything is working OK except for the finger print reader (Authentec AES1610), there were some problems with the Vista drivers but the beta driver provided by Authentec solved the problems.http://www.authentec.com/win7beta32.cfmBut now the software thathpprovided to manage the logon information for apps, Bioscrypt Verisoft Access Manager (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-49006-1&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3376851&os=2093&lang=en), is not working with RTM , it used to work fine with RC1, the software is blocked by Windows itself. It seems Authentec has released a new version of its own software (TrueSuite), but they don't provide a link for a download. http://www.authentec.com/truesuitefaqs.cfmAnybody has a download link for this sofware ?thanks.Rolando Ramirez

A:Software for Authentec fingerprint reader

Still no reply from Authentec but after a lot of web research I found I solution:1) Uninstall *all* previousfingerprint reader drivers2) Download updated driversfrom http://www.asustreiber.de/downloads/windows-7/treiber/1033-fingerprint3)Download DigitalPersona v4.0.1.3749A from hp.com and install it (32-bits: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp43501-44000/sp43882.exe, 64-bits: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp43501-44000/sp43883.exe)4) Update DigitalPersona to v4.11 using the autoupdate feature of the software5) Reboot & EnjoyRolando Ramirez

Thanks.

Unfortunately, that feature was removed a while ago. You can, howevere,  still set the pre-desktop to work from the fingerprint reader for power on password, disk drive password, etc.

Hello,
Recently my built-in fingerprint reader went on the fritz. Without touching it or even being near the laptop, it gives the "swipe your finger slower" tab or the " Cannot verify your fingerprint" tab. I have tried to find the drivers for it to unistall and reinstall but i can't seem to find them. Also i am not 100% sure that will fix my problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
