Silkroad Online Application Error!!

Q: Silkroad Online Application Error!!

Hi, I keep getting this error when I try to open the game SilkRoad Online:

"The Instruction at "0x00d3957c" referenced memory at "0x00d3957c". The memory could not be "written"

Click on OK to teriminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program"
THEN, after I click either OK or CANCEL, I get this same error, except with different numbers in the quotes.

Hopefully someone can help me.

So I have a ATI Radeon 3650 i recently finally fixed up with some drivers, and I have omega drivers so I can see the FPS in-game... but I am kind of concerned, i can play at the highest graphics and it feels as if there is no lag, but then the FPS constantly goes from 15-20... is this normal? is it reading my fps right or is something wrong with my computer... I have 2 gb of ram... not sure if any of that will help but I was just wondering how my FPS is so low yet it feels like im not lagging at all... thank you!

A:Solved: Question about FPS on Silkroad Online

It's probably not your graphics card. If this only happens in high-traffic areas, or certain spawn-points, and not everywhere, it's likely that the server, or even your internet connection, is lagging, and it just looks like graphics-stuttering. Your connection, and the server's load, affects your FPS in MMORPGs, too.

Hi Guys,

This is my first post and I'm really having problems figuring out what's causing this problem. I've been playing for weeks for this online game, Silkroad Onlline (SRO) and it had working just fine. Then suddenly when I opened it, it goes to its normal start up process but a few minutes later the PC restarts. It's now doing it more often...

I have the log below from the HijackThis Tool. Hope it gives you a lot of information. Need your expert feedbacks on this matter guys. Thank you in advance. ^_^

A:PC resets when loading Silkroad Online. I get minidump errors...

Hello and welcome to the forums.

Could you upload those minidumps for us.
To do this

1 > create a new folder on the desktop and call it "dumpcheck" or whatever you like
2 > navigate to %systemroot%\minidump and copy the last few minidump files to that folder.%systemroot% is normally c:\windows. They are numbered by date. You can paste that address in address bar to get there.
3 > close the folder and right click on it and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder. Please do NOT compress them in .rar
4 > upload the ZIP file as a atachment in your next reply.

I've done some googling and spent some times on "Alternatives To," but haven't been able to find software that does all of the following:
1. allows you to take notes which it stores locally somewhere
2. the notes are in rtf-like format in that they can contain text, formatting, and pictures
3. the primary mechanism for organizing is through tags, which you can add as many as you want to notes on the fly
4. no monthly fee for online synchronization I don't need

Examples (Software, Has):
Evernote: 2, 3
SimpleNote: 1, 3, 4
CintaNotes: 1, 3, 4
TiddlyWiki: 1, 3, 4 (doesn't get a two because adding images involves storing it locally, making a link, etc.)

I've tried to avoid things like OneNote which, while great software, is much to overpowered for what I'm looking for.

If anyone knows of such a commercial or freeware program, I'd be very appreciative to hear about it.

Gray is not activated,

Otherwise to force a change hit the F12 key click on Browser mode and switch to ie10,

STOP: c oooo 145 {application error. The application failed to initialize properly (0x 0000005). Click OK to terminate application. The above message is what I receive, when I run "error check". It was advised from the Microsoft website that I ran ERROR CHECK, along with "disk cleanup" & "defrag" analysis, to see if the machine needs to be defragged.I went along with the advised procedures by Microsoft, because it was said that the computer would run faster. I've been doing the ones that worked, defrag analysis, disk clean up & CC Cleaner. Along with those maintenance tasks, I update all the definitions on the malware software. With the aforementioned error message problem with the lap top, I also have a problem with Adobe Reader (listed in another topic), that I can't uninstall it, without getting a 'Error 1402' message. Then the one last problem is the cursor jumping around at random times, when I am typing to either the forum or in a Word document. What steps are you taking to run the check?

That error seems to indicate a hard drive problem, which is why it was suggested to run chkdsk /r.

Well to no avail did any of the programs load...so I had noticed that when I tried going into user accounts to see if this account had admin. privileges the user accounts never loaded. Doing some investigating I found on Microsoft that I could make another account with admin privileges and that it should load....NOPE....I got the account created but when I tried to log into it no windows just a blank screen...Ctrl.Alt.Delete. brings up the task manager on network I see that it says that the INTERNET is run... A:Services.exe - Application Error. The Application Failed To Initialize (0xc0000005).

Well...it seems to me (I may be misreading) but that system belonged to a unnamed 3d party, which had the operating license.

If I had found such system, the first thing I would have done is wipe it clean (because I don't like using someone else's data which they've decided to trash) and to give myself a good start at seeing if the system worked properly.

Then I would have done a clean install.

That's the only way that I know how to go from a series of unknowns...to a known good, working system.

Worst case scenario: The system is highly infected.

Best case scenario: The system has O/S or malware problems or a combination thereof.

This started last friday and another Tech ran chkdsk and the user was able to print a few times before they left at end of day, not able to print today. I ran the chkdsk but no luck.

I have removed and replaced spoolsv.exe with no luck.

Hi There

I have been given a friends computer to fix. The way he described it, it sounded like it was full of Malware etc, however I haven't been able to start it up as I get the following message appearing when I power it up.

userinit.exe - Application Error The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click ok...

This message appears twice, I then get the wallpaper of the computer up, but nothing else, no icons or task bar. I have tried a wee trip to safe mode but don't get anywhere from that either, just the same message.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Cheers

I've had an ongoing problem with application errors that say the following:

<app name.exe> - Application Error
The instruction at "0x036...." referenced memory at "0x00000ba0". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.

I've run HJT before and others couldn't find anything. I've significantly cleaned up my PC, currently uninstalled about 4-5 different spyware/adware programs (at the instruction of a MS tech support person who's trying to help me integrate SP2 back into my c:/ with no luck ). But, someone on the XP forum suggested I run HJT again and copy the log so here it is. If anyone has any other ideas I'm open to listening. I get this error message when exiting out of almost every application or browser I have. Can't seem to figure this one out. Thanks!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

This is followed (in the event log) by a cascade of errors from the "Service Control Manager Eventlog Provider" such as the following:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The ReadyBoost service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

The cascade of service/driver errors occurs within 3 to 6 seconds of the initial svchost.exe_SysMain failure and hits a dozen or so other services including but not limited to ...

OK, this is admittedly a strange one...

I have used an old (probably a 16-bit) application as my time synchronizer this I've used for quite some time. Its name is TimeRC, and is a great synchronizer as it tracks moon phases along with the time (from selectable, multiple potential time servers). After a fatal software crash a couple of weeks ago, I'm in the process of recovery. Attempts to manually launch the EXE, result in a launch-time error stating that the ap is not compatible with my Windows 7 Pro (SP1). Note that I'm running on the same level of Windows that I was using prior to the crash/re-install. I have inhibited compatibility checking (Group Policy adjustment) only to incur the Win32 error.

I've been through the litany of utilities (registry) to correct this situation, and I KNOW that this ap runs just fine on Windows 7 (from pre-crash days). I am at my wits end trying to avoid this situation. I suspect that there is a registry setting difference (now versus pre-crash) about which I'm ignorant, so I'm open to any, and all suggestions.

To use an alternative time synchronizer is not an option...I'm anal about how my system looks, feels, and performs!! I've even tried running in XP mode (virtual machine) to no palatable result. Note that I don't have access to the program's source code, otherwise I could recompile!

There's got to be something that I'm missing.

Color me frustrated,
Randy Reist (Lairbear)

Hi All,

I recently purchased a new laptop and I have had this error occur almost since the start.

Basically, when I switch on my laptop, both bttray.exe and GrooveMonitor display the exact same error(bar the application name in the title) - I have also tried to install AVG Free which comes up with the same error when trying to start.

The error is:

BTTray.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc150004). Click OK to terminate the application.

I am running Microsoft? Windows Vista? Ultimate 6.0.6001.1.1252.44.1033.18.3066.1940

I haven't tried anything to correct this as I wouldn't know where to start.
Any help anyone can provide would be highly appreciated,

Thank you in advance,

Joe

cmd.exe application error - application was unable to start correctly (0x0000142). Click ok to close the application

Anyone know why it happened?

I got this error when I tried to restart to install an update. However, in windows update, it showed I had nothing to update. There was the little yellow shield by the shut down button to indicate it was installing an update when I would shutdown.

I rebooted fine, and CMD works fine. Is it possible windows thought it had to install something, and the installer had already installed the update (I went onto windows update earlier myself to install the windows and silverlight updates) and it bugged because maybe it had to use cmd to execute the update or something?

A:cmd.exe application error - application was unable to start correctly

It seems to be happening again, but only when I shutdown when explorer is open. I tried and tested his multiple times. It has only happened after the new silverlight update and kb 30247777 (sorry if the number is wrong) update.

What is causing this?

When I start up my comp, everything is fine until I reach the XP welcome screen. At this point the 'userinit.exe - user application error' message box appears twice. after clicking ok, windows continues to load but when it gets to the desktop nothing shows up. I can make desktop show up by going into WTM and going to file>new task(run)..., but as soon it loads i get multiple message boxes of 'rundll32.exe - application error'. I get similar messages when I try to run notepad, system restore, and when I double click on the icon to safely remove hardware.

I don't want to reformat my comp again, I've tried running sfc /scannow and its done nothing, tried reinstalling XP but for some reason its missing a file. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, all,
In looking at my error logs, there have been occasional errors with Word. But just recently, they have become quite a pattern. I'm not a techie and don't know if this error entry tells us details to center in on exactly what the problem is. But I am copying it below for your perusal. I am running Home Vista & Office Home & Student 2007. After I installed an update to my HP OfficeJet All-in-One I started getting frequent messages that Word had failed & Microsoft was searching for solutions to the problem. It always repairs & Word returns for continued use, but something is clearly wrong. I saw a discussion on Bleeping Computer that lead me to think that Office & my HP printer might be conflicting. But so far as I am aware the updates for both the Office & HP are the newest versions. I think Microsoft is completely updated. Can you help me correct whatever this is all about ? I am very unclear about what is happening & don't know what to do.
Thanks, dreamcatcherco

A:Application Error--faulting Application Winword.exe

Microsoft Word crashed because of this module: hpz3r4x6.dllThe references that I was able to find for this file suggest that its:1) an OEM driver file, and2) a Unified UI/Render plug-inWhich doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot to me, but I've got a guess or two about.Since the filename starts with HP and you've recently installed an HP OfficeJet...did you install it from the drivers on the disk, or did you download the drivers from HP? If you installed from the disk, did the disk (or the setup program) specify that the drivers were compatible with Windows Vista? Often printers will be marked with a "Works with Windows Vista" sticker - but won't have the Vista drivers on the installation CD/DVD.I would suggest uninstalling the drivers and software for the HP printer, then reboot and test to see if the error has been corrected. If it has, then try getting the Vista drivers from this link: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/suppor...Display=driversand see if that helps.

Hello everyone,
I recently had a virus on my Windows xp computer (one of those ones that pretends to be an anti-virus program telling you your computer is infected). Before I had the chance to remove it I found I was unable to start up my computer. Instead of the usual user login screen I had a black screen with this message:

"lsass.exe - Application Error". The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on ok to terminate the application

Once I click okay nothing happens, the screen just remains blank. I have tried going into safe mode (F8 key) but it doesn?t seem to work. I hold the button down but the computer just loads up like normal and goes onto the dreaded black screen.

I have done some quick research and found that the problem is either the OS is broken, or a virus is pretending the OS is broken. Either way I have no idea what to do.

Any help is much appreciated. Please note however I am pretty clueless when it comes to computers, thus please try to assume as little prior knowledge as is reasonably possible and include simple step by step instructions if you can. I apologise for my ignorance.

If you need any further information let me know. Note as I have no laptop currently I will have to wait until I am in work to respond.

Thanks in advance!

I keep receiving Windows Socket Error 10055. It happens sparatically, but two things that I've noticed it happens with is while running:

Replay-Radio 6
nzb-o-matic

The error occurs even when those aren't running (but replay-radio is usually running in the background). I just uninstalled the program after receiving a TRSDKd error.

In addition to that error, I have been receiving Application Errors for various programs. It usually goes like this:

The instruction at "0x012220a7" referenced memory at "0x01260b30". The memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program

Then it closes down something that I didn't even know was running.

Any thoughts? I know this is very vague, but anything that can help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, what is "LS101805.exe"

I don't know what happened.. It's been a few days since I restarted my pc and when I did today I've had this problem.. Not sure if windows did any updates that could have caused it?... Anyway Yahoomessenger.exe Application error.. (The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150022). Click OK to terminate the application.) AVG wouldn't work either but I uninstalled & re-installed that and it's working again. Yahoo however wont. I looked in where the error logs are and seen (Visual C++ Visual studio) I have no idea what that is or if it has anything to do with this.. I tried all my system restore points and they all fail.. Really need help, Im exhausted and out of ideas .. Thank you to who ever can..

Not sure of all the info you may need?

I have windows xp home version 2002 service pk2 AMD sempron IE6

Not that it will solve your problem, but you should probably update to SP3.

Visual C++ is a software programming language.

I assume you also tried to reinstall yahoo?

I use a 16 bit program that worked perfectly and then suddenly I'm getting a Runtime error '6' Overflow error.I've tried reinstalling the program and VB and a variety of changes to how the program launches, but nothing.I've searched everywhere and the only information I've found relates to Visual Basic. I didn't do anything with code. .its a free standing program. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And of course I need the program to work today. Thanks in advance,Mark

Three days ago while on the internet I believe my computer was infected with some type of virus. Computer would lock up and freeze where you could not turn it off unless you took out the battery.
I downloaded pctools which scanned and showed numerous infections and supposedly eliminated them. Evidently it did not.
I put it in safe mode and did a full scan with pctools and again is showed numerous infections and supposedly fixed or removed them.
I ran another scan with McAfee and it came up with one infection which it supposedly fixed.
I turned it off and restarted it and it seemed better but then started to do the same lock up and freezing while it was attempting to load windows.
It kept giving me the application error fxssvc.exe.
I am not overly technical but can follow directions. Can someone give me a clue to what is the problem and the depth of it?
I would be most appreciative.

this can be a bit tricky, i do not know the cause because it can be a lot that caused this.

however if you got the windows CD.
you can try running sfc /scannow (if you can get into any command console)
it refreshes most dlls.

if you can not get into any windows app you can use recovery console (from CD first screen you press R)
and run chkdsk /p

if that fails you can use windows repair using second screen and press R
(from cd)

i hope this helps.

1) are you using a router?

If so you will probably have to go into your router settings and open up the ports the game is using.

2) How about a software firewall such as zonealarm?

If you are running one you will have to tell it to let the program through.

3) can you ping their webserver?

4) run a tracert to their webserver....is it a clear path?

A:Off LIne pop up error when online

Internet Explorer has it's own internal "Offline" mode which you can select without physically being offline.
This allows you to effectively "disconnect" your web-browser from the Internet for such tasks as, say, constructing a website, without disconnecting any of your other internet-related tasks (emails, program updates etc.).

If you do not want Internet Explorer to be offline, click File on the menu bar and make sure "Work Offline" is not ticked. Click "Work Offline" to remove the tick if necessary.

No graphics device with hardwaresupport...
I recently upgraded to Windows Vista and for the most part it has been fine. A few issues are really annoying however. One is the error I get when trying to play MMORPG's such as Anarchy Online. The error is: No graphics device with hardwaresupport was found using DirectX.

This game and others played fine until I upgraded, so I know my card supports it(see sig).
I have tried all the usual suggestions: XP compatability mode, run as admin etc, to no avail.

The card is an ATI Radeon 1650 and has the latest drivers.

Any ideas as to the problem? Another issue that arises is from Battlefield 2142 when it says it has stopped working. The problem module is Directx9.dll etc... Compatability does not work here either. So I am thinking the driver doesn't Directx10 or something. If thats the case , is there a way to revert back to 9.0c?

A:Anarchy Online error because of DirectX

You can download Directx 9 and install it on Vista. Several older games and applications still need DX9 libraries to run on Vista.

Here's the download for DX9: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en

Hi All,

I'm getting a strange DNS error - never had this before. Here is my scenario:

- I am using windows XP Pro, SP2

- I am connected to my house network OK. (I can access the shared drive on my machine from my mac). My network consists of a 4 port hub connected to my Airport base station, which is connected to my Cable model.

- I have 2 macs and one XP machine. Both my macs work perfectly. I can browse all I want online.

- I can't get online with my Windox machine. I can ping any IP, either on my network or outside.

- If I telnet from my XP box to my network getway (airpot base station) on port 53 (the DNS port) I get "Could not open connection to the host, on port 53". If I try the same thing from my macs I can talk to the DNS.

- I just tried telneting to port 80 to see if I can reach outside machines and I can't. the only thing that I seem to be able to do with the outside is ping.

- Does anyone have any ideas? This machine was working fine, so I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the network, rather something has happened on my machine.

(I reinstalled the driver for my ethernet card, nothing changed...)

Hey there,

I am getting an error message when trying to RUN an online game called Poolsharks.
I've been playing the game for the last few months on my old computer and it worked fine, however, i've recently upgraded to a new computer and when i try to run the game, i get this message:

"Failed within client game: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. (Exception HRESULT: 0x8007000B)"

I've read somewhere that this is caused by trying to run a 32bit application on a 64bit system, but I've been searching through google and cant seem to find a straight forward solution to the problem.

I am kinda new to the board and a virtual novice when it comes to technical computer stuff, but i would really appreciate any help with this issue.

Thanks

Dave.

Also, check your Event Viewer for errors related to your game. To do this:

Click on Start, type "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Expand the Windows logs section, then select the Application log files entry.
Scroll down the list by time until you get to the time where the game gives the error code.

I’m a teacher at a university. I’ve built a computer program on CD (using Visual Basic and Free Basic) that should work on Windows compatible machines and that I distribute to students who then use it to take graded exercises and exams. When the program is first installed, some critical files are added to a folder in the student’s c:\program files\lrcd\ directory. Some of these files keep track of the students’ name and scores from graded exercises and exams. Scores on graded exercises are recorded in the students’ \lrcd\ directory and are updated when the student gets a higher score than in the past.
When it comes time for the student to take an exam, the program asks for him/her to enter their student ID. It then (using Perl) locates that student in a grade book online and records 1 point for that student on that test in the appropriate grade book. This is done so that I will know that the student started the exam and can’t restart it without my permission. The CD then administers the exam. When the student finishes the exam, the score is recorded on the students’ computer hard drive, so we will have a backup copy of the scores in case things go wrong, and the computer then ships the completed graded exercise and exam scores to the appropriate grade book online.
All of this works correctly for 80-90% of the students using a wide variety of computers, and on all the computers I use 100% of the time. However, a number of problems are occurring that I do not understand... Read more

A:error transferring information online

There's quite a lot of points here and, I have to say, not that much to go on.

My gut feeling is that you may have difficulty solving some of these problems unless you do a bit of re-writing of your software - I'm not sure you have much of the information that would help solve the problems.

The most useful thing would be to have a log of what is going on. Is your software capable of producing logs when it is doing things such as communicating with the server, recording user data and so on? Windows has an event log that you may have come across, but it's often easier to just write logs out to a file in the program folder or user folder. You often find having a list of the things the program thinks it's doing (and the order in which they are being done) and the data on which it is making its decisions pinpoints problems very quickly. This may even be true on an installation that seems to be working correctly.

If you haven't got this functionality, write a sub that maintains a log file and have it write data whenever called with a simple string (make it add the date and time to each line as well). Don't just register that the event has occurred, but also include relevant data: record the filename data was written to or the data received from the server. Then, when you do something such as store data to a file, read or write to the server, etc., you will know exactly what is going on. You can include a setting in the program to switch this functio... This is typically an "add-in" for IE causing the problem

In IE7, Tools - Internet Options - Programs - Manage Add-ons.

Click on one at a time ad select "disable" until you find the offender. In most cases I have encountered it's Adobe Reader.

I recently placed a post in the Video Cards section, as I at first believed my problem to be related to my 4870, but now I know differently. I've looked for a delete button on my thread, and can't seem to find it. Apologies if this has caused a problem! I wasn't sure whether to amend the last one or start this one. I'll mark the other one as needing deletion.

I've been suffering random crashes, which manifest themselves as a frozen screen in-game or on Youtube and sometimes just cursor loss. Tabbing back to my desktop shows a black screen with various menus and opening and closing and my toolbar is placed on the top of my screen. I cannot do anything at this point, including trying to ctrl, alt + del so I have to press the refresh button.

Knowing the 4800 series to be buggy, I blamed it on my card, but today I suffered another crash but was fortunate enough to make out an error message: 'dwm.exe application error'. I've had a search and as far as I can see dwm is responsible for the Vista graphics. I've not been able to get any further than that as it seems to be a fairly rare problem, except I did come across a dodgy offer of a downloadable program that can fix my registry.

I'm confused at this point. This is a new PC and I know it's come with a restore disk, but I don't know whether that can just repair a faulty registry? I've tried contacting the makers of my PC and their online messaging system appe... Read more

Registry is a very critical area in editing, yes you can have System Restore points made, but it won't help if you can't run System Restore even from Safe Mode if required.

Before doing any of this type of editing, its best to back up all your important data to external media

Note: Running a full restore of your computer does not require manufacture support
Just select the Fn Key (?) or whichever key you need to press and run a full restore on your computer. Not hard to do. ie User friendly.

By doing a Full restore of Windows, you will at least confirm its not software related, and may stop another Topic on the same issue

You may also be able to contact your Manufacturer by email or chat or phone, more help here on that: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic117607.html

A:Ie7 Application Error

Hello James Heilman and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I see no signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean. There is 1 SearchHook with no file that we can remove so let's do that while you are here.Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - ~CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.Other than that the log looks clean. The error message could point to just about anything from IE7 to any of the addons installed by Earthlink, Norton or any of the others. It's hard to say without any file being reported. I would suggest posting in the Web Browsing forum here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/14/web-browsingemail-and-other-internet-applications/ . They can assist with internet browsing issues that are not malware related. Let them know that you have been to this forum and that no malware was found.Cheers.OT

You have to make your internet explorer as a default browser. Double click on internet explorer, it should ask you if you want it to make it your default and choose yes.

Welcome to TSG....

You may have an infection or two.

To download HJTsetup.exe To Download HijackThis go to the following: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item5
Filename = 1137518044HJTsetup.exe

Save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialog boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialog.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialog box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply. DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

A security expert should take a look at your log - please be patient.

Welcome to SevenForums.

fill out your system specs please:
Update your SevenForums System Specs

NMain.exe is part of Norton AV. I'm pretty sure you've heard before that Norton products are system hogs, but it's your perogative to use it. Since you didn't mention the exact application error this link might steer you in the right direction http://searchg.symantec.com/search?q...ang_en&numgm=0

hi, I think that's a very general message, what were you doing when it happened? were you using a particular program. also can you give us some info about your pc, including how old is it, what operating system, is it up to date, are your security programs up to date. how much memory do you have. is it a laptop or desktop. re your back up disk, is it an external hard drive, is it new. In fact did you install anything new recently, or download any software before this happened. I'd be grateful if you could post back with as much info as possible in order that we can help.

Recently I have been getting a box pop up with stop sign with exclamation mark in it on right side of box, on top has Application Error and at bottom has OutOfMemoryError: Java Heap Space. This randomly happens when no programs are running. Happened this morning when I first sat down at my computer it was on the screen. What could be causing this?

A:Application Error

Sadly, all we know about your computer is it might be running Windows 7, or maybe Vista. :( Since this seems to be a memory issue, it would be good to know how much RAM you have, how your Page File is configured (using defaults, of if manually set - not recommended - how?), and how much free disk space you have on the drive the Page File is located (the boot drive by default, if not manually changed).

Do you need Java? Most users, including me, who removed it found they no longer need it. I have been running without Java (and all its security woes) for over a year now with no problems. It is installed on just one of my systems that is used by the grandkids to access some of their on-line games, like Minecraft.

I would suggest you (1) scan for malware to ensure your system is clean then (2) uninstall Java with JavaRA. If you then visit a site or run a program that needs it, you can always reinstall Java.

The error points to a problem with a (scheduled via Task Manager?) setting of TuneUpUtilities, uninstall TUP or redo the settings or remove the offending Task Scheduler trigger.

FYI, I cannot reach the TUP home site, my security settings prevent it - I see a recent note that they have been engaging in using misleading marketing tactics, there are also signs of licensing issues, charging errors uncorrected, ...

I would uninstall it.

Hi Pbman,

It would be helpful to distinguish between applications vs the system tasks in your list. To this end, I would recommend you download/install Process Explorer from http://www.sysinternals.com which is freeware.

It will display (default) a process hierarchy tree with the system processes displayed in a light pink background and the application processes in a light blue background.
