Hi The shields are probably getting ready for Thanksgiving like cooking the big bird and getting the house ready for all of the TSG family to munch on the goodies. Please be patient and I am sure when they arrive they will be there.

And thanks for the compliment it is appreciated.

Have a Happy THanksgiving.

I have a gold shield located in the bottom right hand corner of my task bar. In addition, I have the same gold shield thumb nail located on my desktop, titled, Personal Antivirus. When I double click on the desk top icon my computer asks me if I want to trust the unidentified program, pav.exe. When I click on the shield in my task bar it opens an antivirus tool. When I run the system scan the results are as follows: Objects scan: 161329 Threats found: 3112. Then it has a button flashing at the top of the screen that reads, Remove threats. After clicking on this I am prompted for my personal information and credit card number of course. I checked in the program files and I do not see this program anywhere in there so I cannot simply uninstall the program. I looked for pav.exe. If that is even right......In addition, boxes pop up on my task bar periodically stating various infections on my computer, these are all associated with this "Personal Antivirus". I just got this computer and it came with a free trial version of Norton and when I did the system scan with it and Microsoft Defender, neither detected a problem. I believe this virus is well hidden and could eventually steal information from my laptop. I have downloaded the Hijack program and have listed the results below.

Have been working with Flavalee on a problem. Flavalee believes it is a monitor problem. I disagree heartily. A virus has crept into my computer and is causing a minimum of 3 apparent problems.

First, the computer is a Dell Dimension 4500 circa 2002 that I bought when it was new. I have replaced the HDD. I have replaced the CDRW unit with a DVD/CDRW unit. I've replaced the monitor with a new Dell 1N1910N flatscreen and adjusted the resolution to 1360 X 768. My internet connection is via cable modem with Brighthouse Networks CFL.

I've added 512 MB rom to the existing 256MB.

I did not do all this at one shot, but over time as needed. I did the work myself.

The symptoms I'm seeing began about a week ago when I downloaded something I obviously should not have downloaded.

When I start Google Chrome with Google set as home page, an extra tab appears that has the address of As I understand it, there is a virus with a similar name. Google Search seems to operate normally, as do all my bookmarks.

Also, my desktop startup screen wallpaper has been modified and can not be changed in Start > Control Panel > Display.

Further, I cannot restore the system to an earlier time. It goes through the process but then informs me that it could not be done.

Well Activision has nothing.

Make sure to end task on everything except systray and explorer.

Hello guys I bet this thing is all over the internet but I can't possibly fined a working answer for my problem. So the problem is that i have that annoying blue and yellow shield on all of my icons. I download a installer for something and that shield is on that. And not just the installer it's on some of my shortcuts. And I cant get rid of them. I know it's because you need admin and thing but I have administrator and yes before someone says this answer I put the UAC and restarted the computer but nothing worked maybe someone could help me, thanks.

A:[Help] Blue and yellow shield

Why would you want the shields off? They have a reason to be there.
Can't you run them with admin rights? Just asking.

This reminds me of task manager in Win7: green, no shield on shortcut.

And the new task manager in Win8: white, with shield. But this is a new program: former TM.exe in CP version.

I also asked myself why the shield but I never found (or want) a way to remove it.

I accidentally installed some spyware the other day, I believe the name of the adware is Zlob. I had a folder in my program files called Video Add On that had executables that were starting up when I would boot. I now have Trend Micro and have gone through the hoops with the software, support staff, and it is still on here. It is not as bad as it once was. I was able to uninstall some of the exe files out of the Video Add On folder in program files. I ran the "Hijackthis" program and was told that uploading it to this forum might help. If I need to give additional information please let me know.

Hello and welcome to TSF.

Apologies for the delay in response. The forum is really busy.

Before we begin the cleaning proces, there is a couple of issues that I would like to bring up. I see that you are using a p2p file sharing program, i.e. MP3Rocket. I would like to warn you that the nature of P2P filesharing is so that even if one is using a "clean" program, many of the files downloaded from non-documented sources have the potential of being infected. So, regardless of whether one is using a "clean" program, one may still be prone to infection by malware because more than half of all files available for download from peer-to-peer networks have been deliberately infected with some form of malware. Also by default, most P2P file sharing programs are configured to automatically launch at startup. They are also configured to allow other P2P users on the same network open access to a shared directory on your computer. The reason for this is simple, file sharing relies on its members giving and gaining unfettered access to computers across the P2P network. However, this practice can make you vulnerable to data and identity theft.
I recommend very strongly that you remove it from your system via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
Please see this about Crawler Toolbar and decide yourself whether you'd like to keep it or not.

So it started with me trying to access my Network sharing properties and it said an unexpected error occurred.
I did an SFC Scan and it says windows have found corrupted files but cant repair them.
i did a virus check but no virus.
When i try to change UAC settings it has this error - Bad Image
C:\windows\system32\comsvcs.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.
So basically if it has the blue and yellow shield i can't access it such as: Network properties, Add or Change user account, Change UAC, Parental controls and whatever else.
All im trying to do is access the Network Sharing properties so i can hook up my Xbox 360 directly to my laptop and use it as a router.
I'm trying to avoid reformatting my computer because i have too much stuff and no where to put it.
Help please, ive been at it now for 2 days.
if any other information is needed just ask.

::I just tried using the other administrator account that i already had but that doesnt work either. Same things go on in that one. Also, if it doesn't give me an error message when i try to click on something with the shield, it just wont do anything, nothing happens.::

::Just checked to see if it really was ALL the items with a blue and yellow shield. It's not. There are a few that work like device manager. But the ones i need still dont work.::

My internet activity is primarily confined to craigslist and occassionally looking at maps or travel choices. Yesterday when I logged on to my computer I had a strange box pop up telling me I had windows issues, that my hard drive had not been backed up, and a whole list of BRIGHT RED problems. It looked legit to begin with...until I saw the line on the bottom that said 'you are using the trial version, please upgrade so we can help'...or some such non-sense. I don't have the TRIAL version of anything. Behind this box was about 97 pop-ups all giving dire threats about my hard-drive. My wallpaper and icons are all gone except google chrome, recycle bin, word and excel...even those annoying ones you can normally never rid yourself of. My files and pictures are gone as well...though the file NAMES remain when I search for them, they are all empty. I got fed up with it yesterday and turned it off. Today I turned on the computer and my AVG anti-virus said I had 6 viruses (I'd only ran a full scan a couple of day's ago) and I sent them to the vault. The mysterious 'pay us and we'll fix you now' box is gone, as are the dire pop-ups. I started to run system restore...but then noticed that stupid little blue and yellow sheild next to my options...and it was also on the boxes yesterday. My ex-husband says I have a virus and to beg you for help. Can I get my stuff back? HELP!!!

On a website a popup appeared saying I was infected, needed to install it's tool, etc with a blue shield. The small x was greyed out, OK and Cancel buttons only. This was with Windows firewall on, McAfee Antivirus and Firewall and internet manager and Unhack me all running and updated. First with IE, then also Firefox, any searching or just being on a website starts to popup ads and at one point something also popped up about or something similar.

I've deleted all history/cookies, did a System rollback to a prior date, updated again the Unhack me and McAfee and these didn't see anything - supposedly all clear. I downloaded/ran rkill.scr, then malwarebytes. It initially found 5 trojans/viruses and said it deleted them. Reran it and it comes back clean. I downloaded and ran dds.scr, then rootrepeal per this site's initial suggestions. The DDS.txt is below, I don't see a way to attach the attach.txt. The first time I did the rootrepeal from there it died at the end with the error "Could not read our index block!". The Details button read Attempt to read from address:0X00000114 and the OK button shut the file listing without being able to copy it (it listed many things about Windows Linked API somethings).

How can this happen with 3 blockers in place? Where is it and what kind of file is it? The most important, though, is please help - Windows Vista ultimate.
Thanks very much,

I have recently had some trouble in that the Google Chrome icon on my desktop has had this picture of a blue and yellow shield over it, which is preventing it from running. I say running -- I am able to open the application, but I just get 'loading' with the standard circle going round and round and round in the top left hand corner... I spoke to a Microsoft representative who told me to follow some steps to disable user account control settings, however this had no effect. I read on a forum that this could be a malware problem, so I downloaded the free trial of Malwarebytes, only to find that; when this appeared on my desktop, it too had the same blue and yellow shield I mentioned above! These are the only two applications I can see with the shield preventing them from opening.

I'm running on Windows 7.

Any help as to how I can rid of this problem would be most appreciated.

I recently contracted the FBI Money Pak virus, and was told by a friend to use the safemode with networking to download malwarebytes and run it. With many tried and failed attempts my computer (with the help of viruses) eventually completely prevented me from opening any kind of safe mode. That's when i used my uncles computer to download malwarebytes to a flash drive and install it to the infected computer. Prior to doing i used the for live help and the lady told me the virus was pretending to be an unregistered Microsoft Bing. Avoiding that one time payment of $99, i sought other help and many discussions brought me to malwarebytes.
Anyway after installing malwarebytes from the flash drive and running it, all went well and the viruses were removed. Upon recent attempts to open the application, the loading circle appears and nothing happens. So i uninstalled it and reinstalled countless times following different options i got from google to get it to run. And it still didnt budge. Also i mistakenly opened explorer after i vowed not to ever use it and screen popped up trying to coerce me into using bing as my primary search engine. I proceeded to try and disable bing with no success. Tried to uninstall explorer, but it didn't even exist in my uninstall pane under control panel. That's when i figured something was seriously wrong.

Ok I took the plunge and upgraded to IE7. HATE IT! where is the OE link on my toolbar or task bar or whatever that is? Now I am forced to go to my desktop to access OE whereas with IE6 there was the little envelop icon up top there that was my OE link. If I dont get a clear answer on this I am just going back to IE no matter what the risk as far as critical updates I just cannot STAND IE7 .For me IE6 was simple it was a clean look and simple use this IE7 is stupid, makes no sense it was just done to compete and from what I have heard from bigger geeks than I is, Microssoft is years late and about a million dollars too short (to corrupt the old cliche) with IE7,ok This is just IMHO but its how I feel abouti t. So can someone help me I even tried to see if I could put OE as a favorites but cannot do THAT either. save IE7's life on my puter (if u care, about IE7 cos I don't) I just want to return to the times of old and easier. thanks y'all bad

hello all;
heres a good one for the gurus.
i am running an hp compaq dc5850 sff. i have two hdd. one with all my America's Army stuff on it. on one i have the deploy client and game but nothing else that pertains to AA2.
so i decide to start to set up AA2 on the vista hdd as it is on xp hdd, the first thing i do is go to my maps website of choice and start to download the user created maps i like. everything looks good, i choose the correct directory and file and even hit the open folder button to make sure the map is in the right place and it is.
now the good part, i close everything up and go back to the map to make sure it will start and play correctly and it is not there, i search for it from the search window at start and search tells me the closet it could find was the same map but on the E drive, which is where the xp hdd is when i boot vista.
any ideas?

Im running Outlook 2002 on 5 different computers via a server running Microsoft Exchange Network. When I assigned delegate acces to four of them, there was no fight. However, one of them will not let me assign delegate access no matter what I do. I have tried using the add-in manager to set up the delegate option, but it doesnt do anything. I cannot see the delegates tab in options, nor can I see it in the inbox options. I am trying to assign delegate access for read access to the inbox, and read, edit, modify access to the calendar. Anyone have any bright ideas? Cause im tapped out. Thanks

A:Wheres the Delegates?

If you right-click the inbox (or calendar) and go to Properties, do you see a Permissions tab? You should be able to grant permissions from there. It works much the same as the delegates tab, but when you grant people permissions in delegates, it also gives them the ability to "send on behalf of" the user, which may or may not be what you want. Let us know whether the permissions tab is visible and whether that's helpful, or not what you're looking for.

My older second reserve laptop - Toshiba Satellite A30-921, came with a 40gb hd and 512mb ram with Winxp (approx 5 years old)
Decided to try and get it back to life and give it a second chance, as in the past it kept rebooting every 10 minutes, and was so slow when it was working.
Used the product recovery disks for a fresh new start, removed one of the 256mb memory modules and replaced it with 1gb, so now up to 1.2 gb ram.Its even managed to install Windows SP3 without any hitches.
Only need to use it for email/ surfing at present, but would like to download stuff in the future.
Have installed Norton 360 as I have this on my other laptop with a 3 user licence.

Up to yet, no problems BUT, can you answer me this:

I have not installed any Office suite/word/works/excel etc, I have not downloaded any pictures, music, documents
Space being used for "Documents/shared docs"= 5mb (sample stuff)
Space used on currently installed programs (taken from control panel) = 312mb

Whats eating up all my space, and what kind of % of used space should determine whether to upgrade the hd in the future ?

can someone help? I just ran restore from a backup on an external harddrive, it took over 5 hrs, then finished. But where is all my 'restored' data?? I cant find it....

if this is too vague tell me and i will try to explain further but its pretty straight forward....

is there something more i must do?

A:wheres my restored data?

If the restore ran properly, the restored files and folders should be in the same places they were when you did the backup. It sounds like either there was a problem with the backup or there is a problem with the restore. Let's make sure you're doing things correctly before assuming there is some problem with the system or the hardware or the backup file - which we will address later if this doesn't help. The following should help:

Here's an article on the restore procedure: just to make sure you're doing it right. It's a selective restore of a full or selective backup (not a complete restore of a complete backup) - but since you did a full backup it matches your process closer than a complete restore would.

Here's another excellent tutorial on the Restore process: Restore Backup Files.

Here's an article on how to use Advanced Restore (when normal restore doesn't work):

Restore files from a backup

Back up and restore: frequently asked questions

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

I typed "tablet wallpaper" into google images. It says

"About 25,800,000 results"

I keep clicking "Show more results" until I get to "page" 50 and it ends with a picture that says "I heart ipad".

Then thats it. No button to load more results. Google said 25,800,000 results. That certainly wasn't 25,800,000 results.

A:Wheres the REST of googles results ?

I did a search using your exact phrase and my results were: About 47,100,000 results (0.15 seconds)A quick google search for a definition of those results netted: Statistics Bar: Describes your search, includes the number of results on the current results page and an estimate of the total number of results, as well as the time your search took. For the sake of efficiency, Google estimates the number of results; it would take considerably longer to compute the exact number. This estimate is unreliable.Bold is mine. From the preceding I extrapolate that the guesstimation number is a product of Google's algorithm for every possibility of those two words and how they would be used as well as them being used combined. As well as possibly wall and paper individually . To get every single one of those guesstimated results you would likely need to refine your search parameters repeatedly. For example Samsung 'tablet wallpaper' then ipad 'tablet wallpaper' so on and so on. Not to mention probably include every known language as well. This is my theory. Also there was this bit of information about search results:Ordered by relevance to your query, with the result that Google considers the most relevant listed first. Consequently you are likely to find what you're seeking quickly by looking at the results in the order in which they appear. Google assesses relevance by considering over a hundred factors, including how many other pages link to the page, the positions... Read more

In this picture, you can see a settings button for the Loudness Equalization enhancement. When I go to the enhancement tab, there is no settings option (or "Preview" or "Restore Defaults"). Why is this? I wanted to see what the "Release time" option does, and I can't get to it.

Also, while I'm here, I was wondering if there was a way I could "tweak" loudness equalization. I want to make low/quiet sounds louder, but I don't want to reduce the volume of louder sounds. Is this possible? I've been googling for ~2hrs and I came across the Release time setting, and I was gonna mess with it, but it's missing.

A:Loudness Equalization - Wheres the settings button??

No settings available... unfortunately!

It looks like MS has licensed some of the "Waves" DSP technology, pretty high end software... part of the L-series Maximizer. It's a combination Limiter/Compressor and I think they figured the general public wouldn't know how to set it up. Too bad, it could use a litttle tweaking, the attack is a little slow.

I bought my Dell 4700 about 6 months ago and was just going through the discs that came with it. I remembered that the Dell did not come with a Windows XP install disc in case I need to re-format. Is this normal? There is an option under Start....Accessories....System Tools to create OS backup disc. Is that what I need to make a disc or should it have came with one? Thanks

hi . i recently bought this new mother board by Asus, P5RD1-V. the problem is that when i try to install windows xp on my SATA HD, after the initial stage during which the setup copies all the drivers and then gives that option " to install windows XP press enter" plus one or two other options, when i press enter i get this massage that says " setup didnt find any hard drives installed on your system. check to see if any HD is installed .... " and then it goes on to say things like check your drive configuration or the drive health and things like that. all this when at the the bootup it does show the hard drive connected at SATA port 1. !! ? i run seagate diagnostic tool on it and it showes the drive as perfectly healthy. i dont know why is it doing it. the hard disk is spanking brand new. the same goes for the 120GB WD SATA. the interesting thing it has no issue with the good old IDE HD's. i connected my old maxtor IDE hard drive and the setup ran as smooth as it can get. i dont know why setup isent detecting the SATA HD. is it the board or is it somthing else. any ideas !

Greetings and thanks for any help here...
Back story...Last week I bought a new computer running Windows 7 Pro,
Before my new computer arrived I installed Microsofts Easy Transfer program on my old XP computer , ran the program and sucsessfully transfered my files on to a new blank CDRW disc.
Today I fired up the new computer for the first time, ran the Easy Transfer program , pointed to the CDRW disc and the program formated as expected.
when the program was completed and files were apparently transfered and the programs status window closed. and that was it, nothing more.....
I unhid my system files and and searched everywhere with no resolve (sighs..) would one of you fine folks please help me locate my transfered files as the are very important to me.
Thank you again.. I'll check back often

A:Used Windows Easy Transfer but now wheres my files?

In the start menu go to Accessories -> System Tools -> Windows Easy Transfer Reports and open it up.  The Transfer Report will show what has been transferred.  If you click Documents it should show you exactly where it's placed your document files and what they were.

I have a pc with win vista on hdd 0 and win 7 on hdd 1 both are a SATA connected disk drives ,the system boots up on the win 7 choice of o/s but not with the windows vista selection , when the system has booted in win 7 I can hear hdd 0 restarting and spinning up so I'm thinking that theres either a data parity error or a hardware issue with the disk drive ,what I would like to do is convert the pc to just run on windows 7 because I dont really use the windows vista o/s much , if its a hardware fault I would like to replace the hard drive but only have a single o/s on the system , I would like to know where the BCD file is kept and also how to go about this task of going from a dual boot to single boot system with just the 1 o/s.
any help would be appreciated

A:make a dual boot pc into a single boot pc ,wheres the bcd stored?

The Vista bootloader and the Win 7 bootloader are the same.

I can't answer your question but my guess would be that the boot files on are on the Win 7 hard drive, if it's the latter install.

I'd probably just install EasyBCD on the Win 7 drive...and then see if it automatically recognizes the Vista install. If not, then manually add the Vista install to EasyBCD, making Win 7 the default. That should (IMO) ensure that Win 7 remains bootable. Then just format/remove the Vista drive.

A simple way to find to temporarily detach the Vista drive...and see if Win 7 boots. If it does, the files are on the Win 7 drive .

i can not get into my e-gold account. it says it sends me a one time pin access but there is none in my e-mail account.

i tried several times but it does not send me an access pin...
somebody help me! please?

A:need help with e-gold log in

Hi and welcome to TSF.

There is a trojan doing the rounds attacking e-gold accounts.

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there is any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there.
Make sure you close down EVERY open window and close ALL browser windows. The only thing that should be open is the HijackThis program.
Run a scan and save the log file.
Copy the text file (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+V) and paste it (Ctrl+C) back in this thread (do not attach it).
Do not fix any entries in HijackThis since they may be harmless.
Make sure to include the System information at the top of the log as well.

We'll then have a look and provide instructions to clean your system, if required.

Im a computer tech and have been seeing a lot of issues with this AV Gold. The only thing I have seemed to find on getting it out of the machines is SmitFraudFix does anyone have anything more then that or know of another program that will do the trick. I simply want a back up fail safe program if possible.

Also is there any anti-virus programs that seem to fix this problem. I know Norton fails to do so. (not like it really ever worked well anyways). Just a few questions to see if there were any other tools and known ways of removal.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present). Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply. Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

They do have free links to embed charts etc on your website so you might be able to embed that html code into your excel sheet, but it looks like what you are after would need to be paid for.
