Acer X1200 BIOS update - Broken HDMI Audio

Q: Acer X1200 BIOS update - Broken HDMI Audio

I just installed the R01 A3 BIOS update from Acer, and now my HDMI port's audio no longer works. Has anyone else had this problem / know of a solution. Also, if anyone else has an X1200 that they haven't updated yet, would they be willing to make a copy of their BIOS using WinFlash and send it to me so I can downgrade? Acer insists the only way to fix my computer is to mail it to Texas, which I would like to avoid if at all possible.

A: Acer X1200 BIOS update - Broken HDMI Audio

Are there any yellow or red flags in the Device Manager?

I would mail the computer. I think Acer knows somethings about this model that you do not, and they are not going to tell, for risk it will get into the media.
Let them fix it right, rather than void your warranty.

Hey guys.

I have the X1200 and ive tried to hook up the PC to my 32 inch LG LCD TV via HDMI. I cannot get a picture at all on the TV, and I'm assuming the computer is not even sending a signal. If anyone knows how to change the settings or update my Nvidia drivers to where i can change the settings it would be great. I've looked through the display settings and my video cards control panel, and so far no luck.

Howdy!

I was wondering if anyone might be able to give me some insight on an issue I'm having. My computer (Acer X1200 series) was connected to my monitor both via a VGA and HDMI cable. I know I don't need both. When I unplug the HDMI the picture is fine, VGA is auto selected I assume. However, when I keep the HDMI plugged in and unplug the VGA the picture flashes in about once every ten seconds for a half a second (like a really really really slow strobe light).

I've restarted the computer with just the HDMI cord in and the same things happens (really slow strobing). However, if I start the computer in safe mode, the HDMI works fine (REALLY weird eh?).

The card is a GeForce 9200 series, hooked up to a HP w2207h monitor. The monitor detects that it should be able to switch between the two fine.

In the BIOS for Integrated Perihperals there is nothing about HDMI video or any video for that matter (only HDMI Audio).

So.. it does not seem to be a hardware issue or a BIOS issue. In the nVidia Control panel under one of the settings it says Connector: VGA, but there is not option to change it there to autoselect or HDMI. My ultimate goal is to just have the HDMI cable running from my computer to my monitor to free up the VGA slot.

ANY help would be awesome. Thanks!

You first need to confirm Acer supplies all Xp Drivers

Then just put in the Xp CD and remove the Partition when asked
Or approach Acer for the Xp Recovery CD (if exists)

Hey guys, First off I'd like to say how great it is that people can get help with problems they face through this blog! Also, I'd like to assure you I'm not your typical guest, I've had years of troubleshooting experience with computers all the way back from windows 98 and even worked for a repair shop dealing with hard/software issues for 3 years.

Now for my problem.

I have an Acer GD235HZ monitor with HDMI input and an audio output jack. I've tried reinstalling and uninstalling and new installing everything to do with the drivers available for video card and monitor. Video card is GTX 470 and does have the ability to output sound through HDMI. I can't figure this one out, I need help! I'm using Windows 7 service pack 1 and have all drivers up to date. Oh, and the video output works perfectly!

Also, yes I've tried different cables and have double checked that my headphones work that I'm plugging into the output jack from monitor!

Now it's your move!

Thanks again,

Mark

I was having problems with my Pc, It was not booting up. So I tried different things on it, I ran CHKDSK, I took off the battery BIOS, I re-installed the BIOS, I Reset the OS to Factory Settings, I installed Ubuntu withing Windows with the Wubi Application, and when I tried installing Ubuntu from a disk it dindt let me cuz it was not eading the Hard Drive.. so what I did is to buy a new one, so I bought I replaced it and what happened is that the first time I booted the pc, It froze during the POST and it had white strippes all over the screen, (but it did beep one time).. so I turned it off, turned it back on and nothing came... no beeps and the monitor wasnt reading anything. and thats my problem... The New HDD was empty of course.. so I dont know what went wrong....

The old HHD was a, WD3200AAJS
The new one is a WD3200JS (I only know that WD stands for Western Digital and the 3200 is for the amount of memory I dont know what AAJS or JS mean, so I dont know if this is what is causing the problem..)

After updating the BIOS to the latest June version, the HDMI output just stopped working. I tried connecting the cable to the display via DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, and it works, so that problem is not in my cable and not in my display. Trying to connect the HDMI to the display and using Picture in Picture I can see that the display doesn't detect any HDMI displays.  Resetting the CMOS doesn't help. Any ideas?

Hi @DougMin?,Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY 15-ae109na Notebook and  issues with updates. You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook. When performing a System restore please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices as they can cause issues. You could  try using the Windows Update Troubleshooting tool to fix any updates that have not come through for Windows.  Please restart the Notebook twice to make sure all update have been completed! Please let me know how this goes. You can say thanks for trying to help by clicking the Thumbs Up below!.Thanks.

After installing the firmware updated marked Softpaq number: SP75152, Version F.35Ap1 now four of our laptops (13" ENVY and 14" ENVY) have a non-functioning HDMI port. External screens report 'no signal'.  We've spent a lot of time with HP support (via Hong Kong we ended up in India). Remote Control sessions. All a waste of time. The BIOS update is faulty, no system restore can fix this. Even still today (13 JUN 2016) one of our laptops automatically installed this BIOS update with the HP Support Assistant, and killed the HDMI port. A. Is there a way to acquire and install the previous BIOS? B. When can we expect a new BIOS update? C. How the hell did this BIOS update get past testing??? --> 4 out of 4 updated laptops have a broken HDMI port. We have 7 other laptops left that are fortunately not updated.

A:BIOS Update F.35Ap1 kills HDMI port on ENVY laptop

I too did the BIOS upgrade to my ENVY 12t-d0000 which caused my HDMI to stop working.  After several hours with HP chat support and some sort of bios update, I'm still w/out a working HDMI.  I have been expecting an ecalation case manager to contact me, but it's been 40 hours so far (was promised to be contacted w/in 48 hours).  At this point, even though I've been a loyal HP customer for years, I'm VERY FRUSTRATED. Any suggestions on what I can try next?

Hey guys,
My windows 10 pc recently updated itself and I lost some HDMI audio functionality. When you click on the little speaker icon on the lower right side of your screen and choose playback devices. My Yamaha HDMI received is the default device and under properties, it used to display under supported formats, all of the latest Hi Def codecs like Dolby TrueHD, DTS-MA, etc. Those are now all missing. I just get the legacy ones. They were working perfectly prior to this week! I have not done any other changes. It looks like windows downloaded a Intel graphics HD driver and I also tried the latest Nvidia graphics/HD audio drivers with same result.

I cannot get the missing codecs back! I need them for Blu-ray file playback via Kodi media server.

any help would be awesome!

Thanks,

I recently purchased an ACER Aspire V3-572PG computer and when hooking it up to my receiver, or TV, via HDMI I cannot get audio to play.

I have tried going into Control Panel >> Sounds and setting HDMI as default but it seems that the system does not even recognize that the HDMI is plugged in. .. at least not the audio component, as the video is working fine.
It seems that I have all the latest drivers (Windows High Definition Audio Device; 6.3.9600.16384; 8/22/2013 ... Realtek High Definition Audio; 6.0.1.7300 7/22/2014), with the relevant driver apparently being the Windows High Def Audio Device driver. I have downloaded more recent drivers from Windows Update Catalog but when I try to update them (via Device Manager) I get the message "the most recent driver is already installed."

The HDMI cable does not appear to be an issue, as it was working with the previous laptop and both cables have the same problem.

Any viable solution would be greatly appreciated. I am going to try playing audio via the headphone jack but the HDMI port is preferred, to minimize the # of cables.
Thanks in advance,
Rob

A:HDMI audio "not plugged in" error for ACER Aspire V3-572PG

For anyone else having this issue, I happened to find a solution here: Digital Audio (HDMI) shows not Plugged In Windows 8.1 - Microsoft Community .. specifically, I used the Intel update tool to update the graphics driver. I somehow managed to install a newer Realtek driver (6.0.1.7378) before doing this, but it wasn't working until I updated the graphics driver. Now HDMI is plug n' play for both audio and video.

Hi There, I have a problem updating the Bios. Reason for update is common black screen and currently I have 2.04 loaded and I try to update to 2.06. Laptop is in factory settings with Win 8 in it. I have loaded the new bios version and it basically works well using windows update but in the end when the laptop is restarting it ends up to black screen. Now you have two options to run battery out or use that tiny hole behind to "cut the power" (you can not remove the battery in this model). After restarting the laptop says "invalid bios image etc." and pressing any key will restore the 2.04 Bios. I have actually three very same laptops and in another one windows update work just fine. (That did not have black screen problem) I have tried to update using usb-stick, but I do not exactly know how to do that. So please if anybody can help it would be highly appreciated. -kari-

Upgrading the bios from 2.22 to 2.30 resulted in a frozen bios update screen at 56%.  Once I restarted the laptop was bricked and no longer booted.  The below is how I fixed the issue. #1.  I formatted a 8GB USB Fat32.#2. I downloaded the bios I wanted to flash (it ends in .exe) from Acer's website.#3. I ran the .exe on an alternate computer, this resulted in the .exe erroring out (it's not the right computer to flash) and exiting the installer.  #4. I found the .FD file in the temp folder the .exe created.  C:\Users\*your username*\AppData\Local\Temp\7zSE7A8.tmp.  You will need to have "view hidden files" turned on.  The temp folder may be different for you, simply sort by date and look at the ones that are closest to the time you ran the .exe#5. I pulled the battery cable (will require some dissembly on this model) and held down the power button for 30 seconds (plug the battery cable back in once this is done).#6. I put the .FD file on the 8GB USB drive and put that in the Acer laptop.#7. I held down FN + ESC then pressed the power button once.  I kept holding the FN+ESC combo until the light on the laptop began to flash, then I waited around 30-40 sec (mileage may vary) and the light on the USB began to blink.  At this point it may take 5-7min to flash the bios file.  #8. Laptop should boot normally into your operating system.  Please note that your bios settings will have been reset at this point so if there is a... Read more

Hi,

I was updating to the latest bios for my Acer 5102 wlmi, everything seemed to be going fine during the process until it got to about step 13 of 17 on the update. At this point the screen displayed a bunch of vertical lines and wouldn't respond to anything. I left it for about twenty minutes hoping that it would somehow finish the process.

At this point, I decided to try to power the machine down, power button wouldn't work so I unplugged it from the wall and popped the battery out. Put the battery back in fired it up and nothing, blank screen... no bios I presume. My first thought was to find the cmos battery and remove it for awhile to reset the bios... I opened it up and found the cmos battery soldered to the motherboard.

So, I've read that it's possible to do an emergency recovery of the bios from floppy, but my laptop doesn't have a floppy drive! What do I do? Will recovery from cd work, or a flash drive?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Kris

I failed in updating the BIOS as per Acer's instructions, and now I have a bricked PC.

I'm trying to restore the original BIOS, but not having any luck. The PC boots, I hear two beeps - one short one long, and then it hangs. The power cycles to the devices & the fan, but it doesn't do anything. I tried it with the BIOS jumpers set both at 1-2 and 2-3. No luck.

What are the key strokes I need to press to force BIOS reset? Or am I toast with this MB?

A:Acer Aspire X1301 BIOS update crashed

Hello gerry and welcome . Mate how old is the machine mate? cos if you have bricked it as you think you have you maybe up for a new one but.....

The other thing is why did you try updating the BIOS? and was this the one you tried updating from Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Desktop / Aspire / Aspire X1301

There are plenty of Googles for that problem and from what I have come across two beeps usually refers to some things in the RAM here are some refs
Computer POST and beep codes

What I would try myself first is to remove the battery lave it for a good hour or so - I have had some IBM jobs that required longer - replace with a new one, reseat the RAM and try again.

I'll keep scratching round in the meantime. Found this if it is of any help but I still think the battery change will narrow it down a bit

I try changing from "IDE to AHCI" and "AHCI to IDE" in the bios menu but still does not work both ways.I tried to install WinXP,VIsta and Windows 7 and all still stuck in the middle of installation. So i want to update bios, because there is a bios update from acer that fix unbootable hardisk problem for this model.

My second problems are since the hardisk does not have any OS install,i cannot update bios using regular method.I need to flash it using thumbdrive in dos,if anyone can show me step by step to update bios and how to create the bootable thumbdrive for this model ,it will be a great help for me.btw the bios model for the laptop is "IsydeH20".

Thank you.

I had updated my driver with BIOS version 2.10 from windows. BIOS installed successfully but after restart, screen went black. Screen is totally off, no activity with hardisk, no beep sounds, shows power is turned on and fan is spinning. I let it on for about 3-4 minutes and showed no progress. So, I turned off holding power button. Later every time I turn on the laptop nothing shows up with power is on and fan spinning. Someone please help me to recover my BIOS.

I'm wondering if I should get the BIOS update from Acer for my laptop.
I've been having some audio stutter issues that seem to be fixed by disabling the LAN from 'device manager' (a pretty common problem and solution, apparently).

I just wonder if getting a BIOS update will make my computer more stable, because I don't want to have to keep disabling my LAN just to stop audio stutter and, in some cases, spikes in the CPU usage.
Is it safe to update my BIOS? Would I need to back-up any data before I do it?

A:BIOS Update for Acer Aspire 7720 running windows 7

Crazyedd, BIOS updates usually list info on what the update fixes. If it states that it can fix your audio issue then you should do it. If not, update your complete specs, using the link under my sig, and post in the sound and audio thread and a member will help you. Also make sure your drivers are up to date.

Hi

Despite some experience in computers, I have made a silly mistake and updated my friend's Acer Aspire 1410 15.4" laptop with the wrong BIOS!

From ftp://ftp.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_1410/bios/ I have used Phoenix Phlash to update 3A08 (ATI Graphic).zip INSTEAD of 3A06 (Intel Graphic).zip (I foolishly looked at 08 instead of 06 assuming it was more up to date rather than checking the Graphics Chipset.)

I believe there should be a way of flashing using a Boot Disk? When I hold FN + ESC when turning on the unit I get 1 long then 2 short beeps which repeats ad infinitum. I believe this means there is at least some hope of re-flashing using this method as the unit does NOT beep when holding any other keys.

When I DO use the FN + ESC, there is no flashing of my USB pen which leads me to believe it is not even reading the flash pen.

According to the readme.txt file

***
1.Winflash Version:
Download the attach file and unzipped it.
Please put .WPH file into Winflash utility to flash BIOS

2. DOS Version:
1: Create a bootable disk.
2: Extract the ZIP file to this bootable disk
3: Insert the bootable disk into your system, then boot.
4: Run P.bat to execute
***

How can I boot, though when the screen is black? The CD tray will spin a CD and the HDD is accessed too
Any ideas?

Thanks for any help

Hi there

Brilliant little device for passing HDMI (less HDCP !!) plus RCA L, R Audio and 5.1 Optical Audio (SPDIF). Switchable audio pass thru,, 2Ch, 5.1 ch.
(Max HDMI input is 1080p so won't work for your 4K huge TV's though) - still an excellent little device for those who want to record from HDMI video.

(IMO the cheap ones are better than the expensive boxes as the expensive boxes don't strip HDCP from the HDMI output making some content not re-cordable with video capture devices or even software such as Audials).

Hey everyone,

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 (Build 7100) from Vista (32 bit) and am having trouble getting audio from my HDMI out port.

I am using the Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset and have upgraded to the latest available driver but still no luck.

I have attached a screen shot of my device manager and my sound devices with the HDMI plugged in - there is no option to select the HDMI as an audio device.

Any ideas?

Appreciate any help!

A:Windows 7 - HDMI out no audio - Intel HDMI audio

Try to set the SPDIF as the default audio device. That might work.

If it doesn't, try updating audio driver.

At last, as you said, your GPU driver is the last one, still, the problem might be right there. Usually, when the device manager shows the HDMI audio as functional and it still doesn't work, it's probably a GPU driver issue.

Try switching your GPU driver to older but stable versions.

On my case, nVidia drivers area always a pain in the *ss, so, when I successfully find a good and stable driver I stick with it for a long long time.

Good day Sirs,
I recently updated an ACER aspire 1800 BIOS (used the 1.17 update). The update was carried out from within Windows XP and after it completed the system was rebooted.
The system started with thick white vertical bars and black horizontal bars making it difficult to read or see what's on the screen properly.
From my search on the Net, it seems I should have used the 2.7 BIOS update instead.
Someone (spock028) managed to update his BIOS with the correct version despite not being able to see what's on the screen.

I have created the Phoenix Crises Recovery disk (using a 80GB USB HDD, I created a 4GB partition, set it active and used this partition). I renamed the BIOS file to BIOS.WPH.
I managed to enable the option F12 (select boot device)

Unfortunately, since after I press F12 during boot and the boot option screen comes up, I can't see the options because the screen is garbled, I find it difficult to boot from the USB HDD)
I also tried the auto-option (pressing Fn+Esx, Fn+B, Winkey+B) during boot but that didn't work.

I am assuming the USB HDD is on the list that pops up.
I have tried an external monitor and the display is garbled as well.

Please can someone kindly give me the exact set of keys to press after pressing F12 when the boot option screen comes up to select the option to boot from the USB HDD?)

I'm trying to hook up my TV with my computer, and for the most part it's working. The video goes through and I get how to control it and everything. The only thing not working is the sound.

I'm using an HDMI to HDMI cable, and like I said the video is fine. Also, when the cable is plugged into my boyfriend's laptop, the sound comes out of the TV.

So this must mean the problem is with my computer specifically. Although, this computer is only a month old, so I wouldn't think anything is out of date.

I have no idea what's relevant, so I don't know what to post screenshots of, but I've read tons of other threads with the same issues but none of their solutions seem to work for me.

A:Realtek HDMI Output ATI HDMI Audio -Not Plugged In-

Info on your computer would help. We can only talk in generalites or suggestions without it. In most cases, if you have a full HDMI port with both audio and video, when you plug in an HDMI cable Windows changes the default audio playback device from the "Speakers" (your PC sound card) to "HDMI".

In your case the ATI (now called AMD) should be the device that is feeding the video and audio.

As your PC is only 1 month old, the PC vendor's tech support should be the ones to call since you haven't been able to find a solution to date.

Everything works fine; the PC detects TV and both audio and video travel through the HDMI cable from PC to TV

The problem happens when I turn the TV OFF and ON. In this case, the video is back but not the audio. This can be seen in the "playback audio devices" in "control panel", the icon that represennts the sansung speakers via HDMI dissapears.
Any idea of what to do? I got the latest video driver, which also deals with HDMI audio but no luck at all...

thanks

A:HDMI audio problem when connecting LCD TV to PC via HDMI

This is more of a HDMI handshaking issue than a Windows or driver issue, and a very common occurrence. Sadly if you do a Google search using "hdmi handshake no audio" for the search terms, you'll get lots of results but very little in the way of how to solve. About the best solution I came across is this one,

*Official* Asus Xonar HDAV1.3 thread - Page 271 - AVS Forum

A lot of that thread deals with the Asus Xonar sound cards, but there is also quite a bit about the no audio in general.

Hello quick question so i'm clear and to see what you would suggest.

I have a new upgrade LG 55 inch 4k TV connected to my PC via HDMI to GTX970 I've read this TV supports audio also via the same HDMI cable plugged in to my video card. I'm a huge gamer.

Right now I have a X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card connected to a 4.1 Logitech setup w/sub. I've been using this for years and it works great for surround sound when available and EAX is always a plus SO whats my benefit to 86 the 4.1 and just go HDMI?

In that case I lose the 4 speaker setup correct and just use audio from the TV?? I can't see the advantage for this unless i'm missing something big. I don't use SPDIF output or the Dolby digital or DTS encoder from the card I assume all that you need a receiver.

Can I use HDMI output for audio and STILL use my 4.1 speakers? I don't want to invest in a receiver or anything like that at this point. What would you do if you were me? i'm at work now but I read if I go into the sound properties/playback devices I can choose HDMI output? I'm curious to see how that works.

thx!

A:HDMI cable for audio or keep my 4.1 w/soundcard? need help w/HDMI

Windows only allows one default audio playback device. e.g. HDMI or Speakers (your sound card). HDMI audio is generated on a sound chip in the Video card. You don't have all the options you do with a Sound card.

I have a XPS M1530 laptop that I use to play videos on my plasma. Everything was working fine and I even watched a movie tonight.

But now it doesn't detect the HDMI. My blu-ray still worked and so did my girlfriend's PC.

I fear that the HDMI thing in my laptop has been broken. Is there a way to troubleshoot that maybe?

My newest task is centered around an HP Pavilion 15-p033ca laptop with a broken screen. Replacing the screen is actually super simple but my issue lies elsewhere.

Normally I would hook the laptop up to a monitor via VGA cable. This newer laptop only has an HDMI hook-up, so I hooked it up to my TV with that cable. The HP logo upon start up is semi-visible as the picture is distorted. So, before I spend money and order the screen my question is...

Does an HDMI relay the Broken screens picture to the TV and that's why is messed up? or should the TV picture still be clear? Like when a broken screen laptop is hooked to an external monitor with a VGA and the external monitor works fine.

I'm worried there may be an internal GPU or Mobo issue aside from the screen being broke.... Finally is there a better way I can test this instead?

Thanks for any info or Ideas in advance!

No sound.
Little speaker with the red 'x' appeared yesterday
I have gone through the whole update drivers circus to no avail, my laptop can't detect that it has speakers built in so it doesn't bother finding a driver for them.

This is where I am at:
- Intel Display Audio is the only driver installed for sound
- This means that sound works when the laptop is plugged into an HDMI
- When HDMI is not plugged in, the computer cannot find the built in speakers.
- I have Linux on this system and audio does not work there as well

I would call this a broken chipset, but the fact that the computer still processes audio with the HDMI cable attached is confusing me. Also, the 'audio board' for this laptop has 2 usb ports attached to it, and those both work fine.

Any help would be appreciated

Alright here's my situation:

I have a Core2Duo PC running Vista Home Premium 32 bit, hooked up to my TV using a HDMI cable. This has been working fine for 2 years now. Yesterday I decided to add some more RAM to this PC (4 GB instead of the standard 2 GB to be exact). I know 32 bit will only read 3 GB but I was thinking of upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit later.

Anyway I booted up the computer, worked fine of course, even watched a movie or two without problems. Then this morning I booted up the PC and I suddenly noticed the volume icon saying that there were no audio devices detected! I checked under Hardware and there are no audio devices whatsoever! So my HDMI cable is still giving me picture but no sound! Seeing as I'm using onboard audio I immediately booted into the BIOS and although I couldn't find a specific option that said onboard audio I did see something audio related being "HDA" (I assume HD audio) on automatic, the other option was ACRealtek97 or something. However it was enabled so no luck there.

Does anyone know how all of a sudden my HDMI cable isn't providing audio anymore? I even checked my Nvidia card which also stated that HDMI audio was enabled.

I hope anyone can help me, thanks in advance.

Hi,

Not sure if this is possible, but thought I'd toss it out there... I'd like to have audio sent via HDMI to my monitor while at the same time using the MoBo output jack for a subwoofer. I've only been successful with one or the other by itself in any configuration I've been able configure.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

A:HDMI Audio AND Realtek MoBo Audio Simultaneously

Does your monitor have an Audio Out? Some do. If it does, HDMI to the monitor, then audio out from the monitor to your subwoofer. Mind you plugging something into the audio out may turn off the monitors internal speakers. You won't know until you try
But…here’s the kicker! A subwoofers job is to not only produce lower frequencies but to also blend nicely into its satellites (speakers). This is most commonly accomplished by either designing the sub and satellites to work together in that the lower cut off frequency of the satellites is close to the higher cut off frequency of the subwoofer. The other is to have an adjustable crossover that will allow you to match the subwoofers higher cut off frequency to that of the satellites lower cut off frequency. You also need to match their output (sound) so that they are even (or close enough!). Otherwise you will get a lot of boom from the sub and not be able to hear much from the monitor.
Monitors with built in speakers are not designed with fidelity in mind. They have tiny amplifiers and do not go very loud without sounding terribly distorted. Even if your monitor does have an audio out, you may be presented with the impossible challenge in trying to match it to your subwoofer. Honestly, you are better off purchasing a 2.1 (or 5.1) computer speaker system. You can get something pretty decent for not too much money.

I have an Acer Aspire Laptop 57362-4790 running Win 7 with all the latest updates. Audio is an Intel(R) High Definition Audio HDMI, and Realteck HDMI.

Because I had no headphone output with the computer connected to my TV via the HDMI out I ran the Windows audio trouble shooter. I got a messaage "non standard audio detected" and Windows did something. Now my headphone jack works, but I have no audio on the TV from the HDMI connection.

I've checked both the Intel and Realtime audio controlers and gotten the message, "Device working properly."

I've searched both Intel and Realtime for new drivers and gotten the message, "Best driver already installed."

Opening sound, clicking on playback, clicking on configure, selecting speaker and clicking on test gives test tones out of both the left and right speakers on the TV. Going back to the web, still no sound!

Does anyone have any idea what Windows did and more importantly how do I undo it and get sound back on the TV through the HDMI connection?

Thanks for looking at this story, and any help you can give.

Use the System Restore function and restore the PC back to a date PRIOR to whatever you did. That should return it to how it was configured. System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools. System Restore will not delete any user data or emails.

Hi,

The audio icon is a speaker with and X through it and the only audio device that populates the Playback Devices list is the HDMI digital audio.

I have audio on the motherboard (think I can find it?? nope) and some auxiliary ins and outs on the front of the PC (headphone, line in).

No audio will output whatsoever. Keep in mind I will not be using the HDMI audio.

No headphones and no "X"s in the device manager...

um... any help would be appreciated! Thanks

A:No Audio, HDMI (unplugged), No Audio device listed

Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. What is listed there? The HDMI and Speakers should be listed. If that is the case make the Speakers the default playback device.

If the Speakers are not listed, RIGHT click in a blank area on the panel and check the Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices and then if the Speakers are shown you can make them the default playback device.

If there is still no speaker, you can check the Device Manager to see if the sound is listed (could be RealTek or IDT) and if it is check to see if there is an error code,

As this is a new PC and you can't get it working it would be best to contact HP support. If there is some problem only HP can get it corrected under warranty.

hows your video connected? I'm guessing through HDMI or you using a vga,dvi or display port instead>? Are you trying to get audio through regular speakers? It's because these steps require a reboot (e.g. Step 6: Disable your CD Emulation Software - DeFogger will ask me to reboot the machine), and I have a bad feeling about the question if it is safe to reboot in my situation: I'm not sure if I have a type of malware which is ready to infect the BIOS - if it is so, then it could infect it much easier during the reboot process.- If there is a good way to find out what is the problem (and fix the BIOS threat part if it really is present) without rebooting / shutting down this PC, or at least without booting from this hard drive (which I feel is probably infected), then please tell me what should I do.- If you know a place / forum where I can get a specialized help for this (seemingly BIOS-malware related) situation, please tell me where I could go.- If there is no way to move forward, I'll go ahead and risk the reboot, and follow the other steps (steps 6 to 10) in the Preparation Guide, no problem.I kindly ask you to please read below the details of the problem as it occured to me, and the things I have tried so far.The PC is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core BE-2350 2.1GHz, Motherboard Biostar TA690G AM2 (with AWARD BIOS), 4GB RAM, 200GB SATA HDD, and an ASUS EAH4870 card added a few years ago. It's with WinXP SP3, AVG Free 2012, (standard) Windows Firewall, and it's behind a router.I ... I have an acer all in one computer AU5-620 serial number: [edited to comply with guidelines] , and I want to connect it to my tv Via HDMI. Is that possible? If so, how? when I connect the tv to computer via hdmi, no signal sign is flashing on the tv.

A:Acer all-in-one to TV via HDMI

Yes, you can connect your PC to a TV via HDMI but you need to use the rear HDMI port, the front HDMI port is just an Input port.  Please check also if your cable is version 1.4

A:Audio Over HDMI Cable Not Working - HDMI Cable Not Plugged

The video is apparently not detecting the HDMI cable. Assuming you have a good HDMI cable it suggests a hardware problem in the new PC.

A:How do you fix a broken disk on a acer pc?

I'm assuming the disk is getting power from the motherboard since the tray opens. Have you tried music cd versus a dvd.

Also go to "my computer" once you have a disk in and see if it shows something in the disk drive.

Hello. I just bought an Acer Aspire Z1-622 'All-in-One' PC hoping to add it to my entertainment system (ie: television, amplifier, etc). The Acer Aspire Z1-622 comes with an HDMI port, but, the manual available for that PC is not very clear if that HDMI port can/should be used as an input port (to connect the video output of a computer) or as an output port (to connect the video output of the Acer Aspire Z1-622 to a television). I have read as many of the messages in the Acer Community as I could and found a lot of confusing suggestions as to what can and cannot be done with the HDMI port and how to use the HDMI port with an external monitor/television, but nothing about the Acer Aspire Z1-622. Could someone with the appropriate knowledge of the Acer Aspire Z1-622 enlighten me on the purpose of the HDMI port on the Acer Aspire Z1-622. Thanks.

A:Acer Aspire Z1-622 & HDMI port

Generally, if there is only 1 HDMI port on one of our all-in-one systems, it is an input port. I would like to confirm this though. Can you please provide the first 10 digits of your serial number so I can clarify?

You may have the resolution set too high, try lowering it and see what happens. As for the laptop screen going black, there are a few options you can choose when you have multiple displays: laptop only, laptop and tv, tv only etc. To cycle between them try the function key (Fn) and F5 at the same time.

Hope this helps

Hello guys,
I have an Acer 4830tg with an HDMI port. In the past I've used it to connect to my tv, but it stopped working yesterday ( the tv shows "no signal") and my laptop didn't detect the TV. However, when I connect it to another TV it worked perfectly, so i guess is not the cable. The TV in other hand, also work normally when I connect it with my PS3, so the tv is fine i think. I already try to uninstall graphic card, sound card and reinstall it but no avail. The only interesting thing i found is when i restart my laptop with hdmi cord plugged in, it freeze on acer logo. Picture below :

-Boot :
then freeze :
I'm really confused... Any input is appreciated ... Sorry for my bad english Thx

A:Acer 4830 TG not recognize TV ( HDMI)

Are you using the same HDMI port with the PS3 and that works? If so, don't know, but if nothing works on that HDMI port in particular, unplug the TV for one minute and then plug it back in and see if it works then.

Otherwise its something with the laptop and since it just stopped working, I would try a system restore to a few days previous or if some major change is listed, just prior to that.

trying to fix an issue for a friends laptop.

they have upgraded to windows 7 64 bit home premium from windows vista 64 bit home premium.

All the drivers have been installed, both from Acers website and from uninstalling them and allowing windows updates to update them.

When an hdmi cable is plugged in to the tv + the laptop the laptop makes a noise and acts as if the picture is trying to duplicate on to the tv. the tv just gives a no signal message. there is also no audio getting thru to the tv either. i have tried changing the duplicate/extend/main monitor options but nothing changes. fn + f5 also acts like the laptop is trying to jump the image on to the tv buts it never appears

the laptop has an intel chipset, uding the intel gaphics options it detects the tv. the tv is also detected in the windows display settings.

any ideas of something else i can try?

A:Acer 5738z hdmi problem

When you plug the hdmi from the laptop to the tv an icon should automatically show up in the notification area. The settings should be located there.

My Samsung series 3 laptop has been sending out popup messages telling me I need a bios update, I go to the Samsung software update site and this bios update has been failing, I have made several calls and chats to techs at Samsung who tell me to do what I have already done, they tell to ask for tier 2 tech, who can go in my computer and fix it , When I finally got a tier 2 tech, they told me the same thing, I told him what I had been told about him and what he could do, He said, is it working , I said yes, but settings on computer change on their own, like wifi turns itself on and that concerns me. Anyway, He said that it didn't need a bios update, even the Samsung website said this computer needed a bios update. I posted this on hardware, firmware concerns, and they told me to post here, I was going to go to a site ,that had a download that checked drivers, I was told to stay away from this.

Thanks,
Jim

Ok so for christmas I bought a new laptop the Aspire E 15 Touch (Aspire E5-574T) and Ever since first boot. It was broken, I mean there is always a pop up that says server busy on startup that doesn't want to go away but this is not the real problem. The real problem is when ever my acer goes to sleep mode. SLEEP MODE = DEADif i press fn + F4 or I press sleep mode, the keyboard stays lit and the fan keeps running but the screen gets closed and its over.  You can't do anything you have to press power button for 10 sec and reload. now it's been 8months since I bought it and there was recently a new windows 10 update update and I though that would be the ultimate fix. BUt no it's still the same story. I did try all the solutions already like (power cfg -h off) and none works and I want to use the sleep mode so ACER ... im mad. Last year I bought an Acer touch E5-511P-P8BA and I lost it sadly. BUT It WAS WAY BETTER !!! BATTERY WAS LASTING 7HOURS AND I COULD GO TO SLEEP MODE LIKE EVERY TIME NO PROBLEMS! IM SO SAD What should I do?
