"no disk" Error Processing Message upon starting Firefox

Q: "no disk" Error Processing Message upon starting Firefox

I'm a computer lab assistant at Missouri State, and I always work on one of the two computers behind the desk. Both of the lab assistant computers have the same problem, but none of the others in the lab do.

I am on a computer running Windows XP Professional Version 2002 with SP3 installed. I only get the "no disk" Error Processing message when I start Firefox. Any suggestions?

(note: I have also attached a copy of this error message, if it will help)

I have viewed multiple forum histories and there seem to as many "fixes" as google ads.

I trust this group most. Any ideas how to get rid of this problem?

Thank you!

Hi there,

I have started to receive the attached error message constantly this evening.

I have followed the instructions on the Microsoft help page for this topic:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942682/en-us?sd=gn

The page says to update to service pack 1, which I already use, and to download the Hotfix. When I open the Windows Self Extractor, which downloads to extract a file on the link which is emailed to me, after entering the provided password, I get the message 'An error occurred while unzipping. One or more files were not successfully unzipped. The error code is 40"

Can anybody help?

thanks

Hi. . .

This message appears to be related to a USB card reader or a built-in card reader.

Which are you using? Is the card in question SD, XD, etc... camera card?

Hi. I've been getting this error message:

"exception processing message parameters 0xc000007FEFC3E718C"

every time I shut down or log off, accompanied by "Bad Image" messages from time to time, usually concerning davhlpr.dll.

I've run the System File Checker three times, and each time it returns an error saying davhlpr.dll is corrupt and it can't restore it from the file store. I tried replacing davhlpr.dll with a copy I downloaded - once in Safe Mode and after setting the proper authorizations -, but each time I run the System File Checker it still shows davhlpr.dll as corrupt and says it can't replace it. By the way, I get the same "exception processing message" error when logging off in Safe Mode and from a brand-new account I created.

This is a fully updated, recent install of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. It seems to have started happening after I tried a couple of dialog-box enchancement utilities. But I've uninstalled everything I'd installed from before it started happening.

Does anybody have any advice as to how I can try to track this problem down?

A:Error: "exception processing message parameters 0xc000007FEFC3E718C"

You may need to restore it straight from the CD instead of the local repository cache stored on your Windows drive. Following the instructions here will do just that.

Btw, the c0000007 error means that the pagefile quote for the process has been exhausted. Make sure that your pagefile is existing and is of a decent size. You may need to recreate it by removing it, restarting the PC, going into safe mode, then adding it again. If you've set it to be able to expand on demand and your free space is very low this may also be a problem for it. Though most likely this may be caused by stack trashing and other software bugs.

Hi all,

Sorry to repeat a question I see a lot of instances of, but none of those seem to be addressing my problem correctly.

I have not done anything new to my computer in recent days, so this problem has caught me off guard (I see most instances of this problem come after upgrading to Windows 7, I have had Win 7 installed for a while now).

Here is a summary of my problem:
1) My computer recently got stuck on the "Starting Windows Screen." So I manually held the power button to reboot.
2) On reboot, it said there was a need to run a startup repair, which I did. Everything checked fine, except for the last one which said "System Volume on Disk is Corrupted," which it claimed to have successfully fixed.
3) After rebooting from repair, the system gets stuck on "Starting Windows Screen" for a good 10-15 minutes, after which it runs a registry check. After it completes that I get hopeful -- but the screen then gets stuck on an all black screen with just the mouse cursor and nothing more.
4) Additional note: Attempting to start the computer on "safe mode" leads safe mode startup to become stalled on "DRIVERS\CLASSPNP.SYS"
5) The lastest attempt to repair yielded this message: "Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically.

A:Stuck on "Starting Windows", Repair Shows "System Volume on Disk is Corrupted"

Hi Stan, Hopefully I can help you out....or at least lead you in the right direction. From my experience, the symptoms you are suggesting sound like perhaps a dying Hard drive.

1. Do you have the windows 7 boot disks that came with your computer or when you bought the Operating System? If so, you could try and insert one of those and boot from it, and attempt to repair the installation. (this won't affect your data, only the windows system files).

2. If that doesn't fix it, you could try a fresh reinstall of windows 7, and see if that works.

3. If neither of those work, its likely that because of the fact that when windows is repairing itself, it is generally putting copies of its system files in the same physical location on your disk. Because your disk is obviously not completely dead, ie....its still loading to the windows 7 startup screen, its just copying files to the bad sectors on your hard drive and gets stuck when loading. This is especially my guess because you said Safe mode is having same problems, even after attempting to repair. In the past, I've tried and salvage a disk by reformatting it and only leaving on partitions which do not contain the bad clusters. This takes some time, and some guess work.....and really this is only a "bandaid" fix because once the disk has bad clusters, its only a matter of time before these things give out. You wouldn't want to trust your important data on it anyways....

I hope this leads you in ... Read more

Ok, I built a PC a month ago and everything seemed find no problems of any sort. The other night I defragmented my hard drive and shut it down and turned it on today to a memory test and the message "Disk Boot Failure, Insert system Disk and press enter"

The computer has access to the XP pro w/ sp2 disk only as a boot device but it will not recognize it now.

I have set Cd-rom as 1st for boot sequence then hard drive I have no floppy drive and the bios has been configured to know that.

I am not sure if this means anything but in the bios the IDE Channel 0 Master says none and when I try to turn on auto detection it wont detect a hard drive.

The HDD is fully connected and has not been touched since I installed it a month ago.

I have this awful feeling that I fried the HDD when I defragmented it last night.

Any help would be very much appreciated. But please be simple this is my first build and my knowledge at this sort of thing is very very sketchy at best.

The first thing to do would be to get a new data cable for the herd drive and see if that fixes it, they are nice and cheap nowadays.

When I go to open a program I've recently installed, half way through loading I'll get an error message reading:

The drive is not ready for use; its door may be open. Please check drive A: and make sure that a disk is inserted and that the drive door is closed." Cancel, Try Again, and Continue, to which I press continue to.

Then I get "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert disk into drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR1" with Cancel, Try Again, and Continue, to which I press Continue to and another appears but with \Harddisk2\DR2 and so on. After pressing continue to 1 2 3 and 4, the program continues to load fine.

After doing some google searching I see suggestions about renaming the troublesome drive something other than C (apparently this error happens when 2 drives are called C) but there is no drives involved? its just a program, so theres nothing to change, does anyone have any ideas as to why these errors appear? :S

Many Thanks

This is getting to be a real pain. I bougth the "Return of the Kings" last year and this year "Doom 3" and both give me the same problem. They load perfectly okay and even auto start the opening menu when I put CD1 into the drive but when I hit play I get the same message that it can not find disk 1. I have a DVD RW and CD-ROM drive and it works in neither. I have messed around with the Master/Slave setting on each and have even tried removing one then the other just to see if that worked.

I am running XP on an Athlom +2600 with NEC DVD and Lite-On CD-ROM

Any ideas, I trawled the internet with little success.

A:"Can Not Find Disk 1" error when starting game

Sometimes games are mislabeled - have you tried the other discs in the sets to see if they work instead?

Also, this normally occurs when the copy protection is kicking in; your games may be misreading your discs in some way due to the hardware and thinking it's actually an illegal copy. Both of these games use Safedisc V3 as the copy protection, so it may be your drives are incompatible with the software. This only happens a very limited amount of the time, and if you have a proof of purchase the company often sends a copy out to you with no protection. Many companies accept the original discs as valid proof of purchase.

Hi,

Recently, an error message "Windows detected a hard disk problem" always pop ups in my monitor.

I have done "Error Checking" also " Defragmentation"...but that error message doesn't disappear.

What should I do?

Thanks a Lot.

A:Error message " Widows detected a hard disk problem"

That is not a most welcome message.

I would immediately backup the most important personal data and run the DOS version of Manufacturer's Diagnostic Utility. If it passes without any event reported, fine. But if it finds bad sectors and even if it repairs it, be wary. Not to be taken aback by any catastrophic failure that may occur unannounced, always backup all your personal data and also image your system regularly.

Hello,

Please open an elevated command prompt.
When you have the command promt open please enter the following command:
sfc /scannow and press enter.
After the scan is 100% and the scan did repair files please restart your computer.

Please re-open an elevated command prompt and enter the following command:
findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt

The cbs.log file will be posted on the Desktop as the current user, named sfcdetails.txt. Please attach this file in your next post.

I can click 'cancel', 'Try Again', or 'Continue'. The computer continues to login if I hit cancel. If I hit try again or continue it just repeats the error. After it logs in it works fine, a little slow, but fine.

This a sign of an incoming hardware problem or is it just windows being its old retarded self?

Yesterday when I switch on my computer, it automatic diskcheck on my E disk. I have 3 HDD, which is C: (My main partition, installed Windows on this HDD), D: is for all my game files (Installed games) and E: is for all my music, movies, game installer, software etc.

So back to the point, when I switch on my computer, and get to the "Windows is Starting", and it stuck right there for about 5-10 minutes. Firstly, I have no patient so I restated the computer, and second or third time also have the same problem. So I choose to wait patiently, after 5-10 minutes, it have a black screen for about 1 to a few minutes, then it started the disk check on my E drive.

Once the process started ( I have total 234240 file record as shown on the disk check ) and continue to file record 800, it started to give me message stated "File record segment 800 is unreadable, File record segment 801 is unreadable" and so on, and sometimes it continue to go smoothly without the message, but not long or sooner it will appear again. Almost the whole process I get these message which worried me, and I wonder if my hard disk is failing badly and unable to recover.
It continues to finish the process and attempt to fix the bad sector. And after that it successfully log onto Windows, so I can use it normally again.

But I notice my E: HDD cannot access and the "My Computer" screen is loading very slow, and sometimes goes unrespond. One thing very weird is that after I few hours ... Read more

A:Hard disk is failing? Error message"File record segment is unreadable"

The "File record segment xxx is unreadable" error is an indication of failing hard drive. You should backup the data from this drive before it's too late.

Next, run some diagnostic testing on the failing hard drive; most HDD manufacturers have the diagnostic software available from their website. Software from Seagate will work with most brand.

If this drive would be mine, I'd just get a new one, the drive certainly will not get better...

I receive daily a "Low Disk Space" error message which is incorrect and in my estimation fradulent. It goes on to give an alternative to rectify this situation by offering to "Speed up your computer and remove all viruses that are on your computer." Of course all of this is for a price. If you opt in and then change your mind before you totally commit they offer the same package for half price. I refuse to be "sucked in" by this fraudulent company.

I have gone to the internet to try and find out how I may get rid of this enemy. I have used Malwarebytes, Microsoft Security Essentials and Microsofts Security fix program all to no avail. First of all, i just want to let everyone know that i am not very good with computers so, please bare with me.

Here is my problem, my wife was trying to download pics from her memory card of her camera (sd card) to my computer so that she could burn the pics to a cd. My computer (Gateway GT5016H) has a slot to insert the memory card into the tower of the computer. She inserted the card, retrieved the pics and proceeded to burn them to a cd. When she was done, she shut down the computer.
Now evertime i start the compuer i get an error message pop up "windows-no disk" "there is no disk in drive. Please insert disk into drive." I also must click cancel multiple time to get rid of the error message. Gateway tech's could not help resolve the problem and told me to contact the manufacture of the sd card because they believe there is a compatability issue. I have windows XP if you need to know.

Can anyone help me.

Hi, I'm having some trouble in the GIMP, especially when opening or saving files. Going to the C: drive goes fine, but when I go to a following directory, I get the "No Disk" error message, telling me to insert a disk into "the" drive. Whichever that may be.

If that were all, it wouldn't have been a great deal. But whichever button I press in the error message, it just pops up again. And again, and again, and again... This is seriously bad for one's nerves. Of course, I tried to click very rapidly, and eventually it does stop, if you're lucky enough not to click once too many. Because chances are you click on the save or load dialog, then the message pops up, and you can start all over again! I tell you, it's only a matter of time before I have a mental breakdown.

I was actually uncertain as of in which forum to post, as I suspect this could be a Windows problem as well. You see, whenever I stick a USB stick into my computer, the drive letter assigned to it isn't the next one unused. Instead, it skips one. So perhaps my computer thinks there's one more drive - one without a disk in it - while there really isn't. That's just an idea though.

I'm using Windows XP SP2, GIMP 2.2.10 and GTK 2.8.9. Both are the latest version, and there is no mention of a "No Disk" message in GIMP's Bugzilla.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, of course!

After formatting I keep getting error message "Invalid system disk

I use this drive for an old PC that was running Xubuntu but now want to reinstall Win 7 after I went complete Linux on my main machine. I know it works. Every article online says the drive is either dead, infected, or whatever. I'm also booting from a flash drive, another thing I read is it's trying to boot from CD instead of USB and change boot order to fix, obviously that's what I'm already doing.

It's formatted fat32 with MBR. Any ideas what to do?

Hi,

I have a Toshiba r700-181 (PT310E) work laptop. It is running Windows 7 x64 Enterprise.

It has one 4GB stick of ram which is PC3 10600. Windows works fine with this.

I have obtained a 4GB stick of ram which is PC3 12800. With just this one in, Windows works fine.

However, if I have BOTH sticks put in, the BIOS recognises that there is 8GB installed, but Windows fails to boot.

It gets stuck at the "Starting Windows" screen. If I restart it asks me if I want to start windows normally or to run the Windows repair. If I try that I get the message: "Error: 0xc0000225. The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible."

I tried using a Windows 7 System Restore disc but that doesnt work...

If I try either of the sticks in the laptop one at a time, then Windows 7 boots up fine.

Is this just down to the laptop not being compatible with the mixture of speeds? I thought that if they were mixed it would just use the lower speed by default?

So confused

My computer persistantly displays this error message saying "Windows - No Disk: There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive." When I look at the My Computer screen It shows my floppy drive, my C drive, the unknown Removable Disk Drive (D:), CD drives E and F, my other internal drive (G:), my external (H:), the second partition on my internal drive (I:), a DVD drive (J:), and then finally the second unknown Removable Disk Drive (K:). I have no idea what these Removable disk drives are or how they got here but I think they are causing the problem. Windows thinks there is a disk mounted but there isnt. If it helps the applications I was using at the time of when the incident first began was Azureus, my DVD drive, Divx Player, iTunes, and maybe some more random stuff. This error message pops up whenever I open multiple programs such as iTunes and Azureus. I could REALLY use some help with this as it is starting to become very annoying!

A:Keep getting error message saying "There is no disk in the drive"

right click on my computer then manage. click on disk management and see what it specifies K:\ as. you can right click and goto properties to get a list of drives attached and maybe it'll give you more specs on this removable drive.

is is possible you installed some software from a removable disk (like a usb key) and the software you are running is looking for the source media? it's possible this new drive has nothing to do with the windows error

Listened to a french music website streaming new music. Afterwards, computer seized, 2 shortcuts added to desktop, default homepage reset. Upon trying to open new IE window, firewall requests to use Internet Explorer as a server. Try to open email, received the captioned DLL error messag.

Tried to shut down and reboot, received same DLL error message when trying to open IE and MS Outlook.

I'm running WindowsME, MS Outlook 2000 SR-1.

How do I go about restoring the computer to 7pm last evening before all these issues?

I'm also curious as to why Norton Antivirus and Zone Alarm did not detect this activity.

Hi;
Had a sudden inability to go much further than a third or forth-level download on ANY given webpage and then PC would seize-up, requiring "cont+alt+del" in order to get freed-up. Thought perhaps I picked-up a bug of some sort during a recent google search, and went immediately to Panda and Trendmicro to perform both virus as well as malware scans. While the Panda scan was loading-up, I received the following error message....

... " DoPatch....dll reports error....Error "C:\WINNT\patch.utp"....unreadable or not a patch file..."

Was able to complete both scans. Nothing found other than tracking cookies.

I then did a file serch for the above and located it. It was installed TODAY apparently, and not by me, within minutes of the problem starting.

I'm guessing someone/thing slipped this patch into my WINNT file or modified it while I was doing the google search, so I have included a HJT scan below.

Hope this all makes sense and ties-out to something. Any help would be genuinely appreciated-
thanks

hello, let's just get to the point, i had this problem recently where my pc can load windows, it keep looping
pc's on - booting - then "Windows Loading Files" - restart
it's infinite i don't know what to do, i don't have a cd rom, and i can't reinstall my windows from USB because every time i tried it says : "disk error" or "disk read error"
even after i burn it to USB correctly, tried this on other pc and USB can load just fine.
i'm thinking, it's something wrong with my boot system in System Reserved, is there anyway i can do to fix this?

Hi,

Have you tried changing the boot sequence inside the BIOS?

Normally pressing F2 or F12 on the computer will solve this.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64

The other day I was afk while listening to loud music from my computer.
Suddenly the speakers began screaming in a high pitch and when I got to my computer it had frozen.
I tried to reboot it, but it simply froze at the Windows loading screen with the floating balls of light and the text: "Starting Windows".
I have also tried booting from the Windows 7 Installation DVD, but it freezes at the loading screen once again.

I then tried to use the Startup Repair Tool, only to find Windows freezing at the loading screen again.

When trying to reboot in safe mode, it freezes again, just after having loaded "disk.sys"

These are the things I have tried so far:
- I have run memory tests using Memtest86.
- I have run hard disk drive tests using SeaTools
- No errors were found.
- I removed the sound card from the MB, with same boot result.
*EDIT*
- I have reset the BIOS
- I booted with 2GB of RAM instead of my standard 4GB

Anyone who can think of other things I should try?

I have a big problem here,
I have used my hard disk for 9month,
Yesterday when I watched movie on the half way,
My hard disk suddenly disfuntion,
And I thought my laptop problem due to always lagging so I restart my computer.
But after that I can't read my hard disk (WD)in my computer.
It can read in computer management there.

Ways I try:
1)I try to uninstall and reinstalled again,BUT it doesn't work.
2)I try to unchecked the hide folder and device at view.
3)I try to update the software BUT it still disfunction.
4)I try to use disk management and initialized it BUT there appeared CANNOT INITIALIZED Due to I/O device error.

Any solution for me ?

A:Hard Disk can't read in "my computer ", "initialized",I/O device error

The most usual cause is that the Hard Drive is beginning to fail. Back up your stuff. Go to the website of the manufacturer and test the drive.

as described in the title when i boot my laptop: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834117780R
i get the "disk read error -> press cntrl alt del to restart" message. I then tried to access the backup partition through f10 only to run into this error "status : 0xc00000e9 Info : an unexpected I/O error has occurred" it seems that it cant communicate with my hard drive.

I read a few other forum posts but didnt see anyone have the 0xc00000e9 error also. Bios boot priorities are in order if that matters.

Is there a fix without having to replace the entire HD and buy a new vista installation(preinstalled w/ no disc in the box).

Im very reluctant to take it to a service center as i can very likely fix it myself (with the help of the friendly people here of course), only problem is im having a little trouble..finding.. my HD in this damn notebook.. heh, ill figure that part out. new to notebook repair.

Thanks in advance. Danny

edit: found the HD, doesnt look like it even uses a cable, just plugs right into what i assume is the mb. dont know if that helps just supplying what i can.

I've tried a couple of things that MS Support suggests but they don't work and don't seem to really apply to this particular error message. Searching for the error code 80246007 hasn't yielded anything yet that works.

A friend has win 7 x32 Ultimate SP1 installed on a laptop. He installed the Bulgarian MUI language pack. According to Msoft, this language hasn't been fully converted for the English version of the OS. There is no information that says what areas are fully converted and which ones not for the OS. The Internet Exploer 10 has the Bulgarian lang also installed.

He wants to send this laptop to his mother-in-law overseas who knows no English but wants to play on the computer and is embarrassed to let others know she knows nothing about computers.

The problem is, the OS messages on shutdown are in Bulgarian, but not all the startup messages.
In particular is the "Starting Windows" message on bootup. I don't see a tutorial on how to edit some file to check the string messages to see which ones aren't translated and have him translate the rest to Bulgarian, save the file and test it to make sure the messages are correct for her. I see the shutdown message tutorial and the Welcome one, but not bootup.

Is this typically the case for any "not fully translated" MUI installed on an English Win 7 (or vista)? What if the Win 7 was orginally installed with the Bulgarian native version of the OS? That is the version sold in Bulgaria would be fully translated and one would then have to install the English MUI. Maybe this is the route to take.

Hi Everybody,

I'm really in need of some help or advice with my laptop
Specs below:
Acer Aspire 5742
Intel i5-480M
6GB DDR3
Intel Graphics

It started when I needed to take the computer back to factory default with a fresh install. It was going back to Acer to have the charger point fixed (charger socket had become loose but still charged when it was held in).
I used the control panel interface to reinstall windows, all was going well until the laptop power died, I restarted the laptop and the screen displayed:

"setup is starting Services" a pop up box then appeared with

"the computer restarted unexpectedly or encounterd an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer and then restart installation."

I have searched around the net and found a few threads/guides but most require a repair disc or Installation disk. I have neither.
Is there any way of starting the install again? for example from Command Prompt?

Any advice is greatly appreciated
Thanks Aaron

2) Internet Explorer 6 will freeze with the "hungapp" error message. I have to do a CTRL+ ALT+ DEL to close. This happens quite frequently and just about makes IE 6 unusable.

Bonjour!
I recently downloaded a game from an abandonware site, called Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and I was really excited to finally play it. It had been one of my favourite games as a child, and I was ready to relive the memories. It downloaded itself as a .rar document, so I downloaded 7-zip and extracted it into a .exe and clicked it to open. I immediately got the following message.

Windows-No Disk
X
Exception Processing Message 0x0000013 Parameters 0x757992A0 0x00000004 0x757992A0
[Cancel] [Try Again] [Continue]

Whenever I click one of these options, no matter which, the pop-up comes up twice, before the programme starts. My screen momentarily goes black, and then It goes back out of the application, saying:

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee has stopped working... Windows is searching for a solution...

and a few seconds later...

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
[Close Program]

I still can't play the game, no matter what I click or try, and I dont want to go into my computer and accidentally change something that I am not supposed to, as I share the computer with my mum, and my sister. I just want a way to be able to play this game at home without the crappy message pop-up.

Merci, tout le monde!

Problem:

Everything was running fine until yesterday, when my PC crashed with the BSOD giving me the "IRQL not less or equal" error. I ignored it and carried on- which resulted in the computer crashing with "Memory management" blues whenever I started something that was not the browser (It later started crashing on browser start too).

I first thought it was the temperature - Memtest95 and GPUtemp said otherwise.

So I started testing the RAM (taking one DIMM out) with Memtest86- It passed 4 cycles, so I shut the PC down and put the other DIMM in.

When I turned the PC on again, there was no signal sent to my screen, and none to my keyboard (and the HDD light on the front of the case did not start blinking like usual). The fans were running, so I figured something might be wrong with the DIMMs I put in. I removed the graphics card and plugged the screen into the motherboard.

Now the screen gets a signal, background lighting starts up, and then it shuts down to hibernation again. This repeats itself until the machine is shut down manually.

I got no idea what to do.

System specs: http://pastebin.com/DQwejZLx
I can not post the Minidump folder, since the PC can't start and I did not back it up. Sorry.

Thank you for your help.

So a couple days ago my PC began making a high pitch buzz. I turned the computer off and when I came home and tried to start it up the next day it wouldn't start. I decided that the power supply must have died and that perhaps it was the power supply fan that was making the noise (I recently replaced the case fan).

I bought a new power supply and installed it. But now when I try to boot up the computer I get an error message "Disk Read Error". It instructs me to press ctrl alt delete to try again. When I do that, it gives me a new error message "Error Loading OS".

The hard drive is only a couple of months old. My previous one died and I was able to clone the contents on to the brand new one and it has worked great ever since.

I am concerned that somehow the hard drive became corrupted or damaged when the power supply failed although I'm not quite sure how, but its the best explanation I can figure.

Any thoughts on next steps. Is there a process I can run that may repair the situation, assuming its not physical?

If not then I guess I need to figure out trying to get the content off and on to a new hard drive if possible.

A:"Disk Read Error" / "Error Loading OS"

What verison of Windows are you using? It sounds like you have a corrupt BOOT file for your Windows installation. This could very much be caused by the power supply dying. If it happened to be writing or using something with that file or near it, it could have corrupted it. If you have Windows 7, use the Windows 7 DVD and do the option for checking for problems. If you have a corrupt boot file, it will repair it (hopefully). You can download Windows 7 DVDs free online. The main thing that matters is your registration key for Windows. Do the Windows 7 repair option and see if that helps. If not then you might have to reinstall Windows 7. Don't format as you will lose all of your files. You can install a new Windows and it will keep all your old files. The bad thing is you will lose all your Windows settings and programs you installed will not work, you will have to resinstall them. But all of your files will be saved. Hopefully the repair option works first.....

1) starts to slow down significantly
2) get (not responding) in parentheses beside the top title bar on the web page
3) locks up completely

When I go into Windows Task Manager, I can see under <Processes> that Firefox is taking up a lot of CPU resources and also physical memory.

My typical "fix" is to click on firefox.exe *32, then click on End Task, then Restart my computer. It's getting to the point where I'm having to do this far too often, and I'm pretty sure it's not healthy for my computer either.

Help?!

I had a fresh install of 7 and everything was working fine.
All of a sudden it starts randomly freezing and programs start responding.
I got KERNAL_PAGING_ERROR BSODs etc. and got a new disk, thinking it was that.
After cloning the new disk which didn't work, and produced loads of errors on chkdsk, I decided to do a clean install of 7.

I still keep getting "Disk boot error, insert system disk and press enter", and when it does boot, it freezes all the time and every time I click the start button, it basically crashed and is messed up.

Tried new SATA cable and ports. Any ideas?

BIOS settings or Motherboard issues?

Have you checked with the manufacturer website for the Motherboard that you have the Windows 7 drivers?

Is your Windows 7 DVD a retail copy...or the pre release BETA....or dodgy(in which case problems might lie there)

I know this question has been asked before as I've read about it all over the Internet. In order to get rid of the 'Low Disk Space' message it says to go to the registry and locate HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer, type a new value, etc. The only problem is I don't have an Explorer key. It ends at Policies.

I've tried everything. I've tried creating the key myself, and I've tried inserting the value into the policies folder. Nothing has worked. Can anyone help?
Thank you

Hi there!
First of all thanks for the great toturial and the forum.

I tried to do the in-place upgrade from Windows 10 (build 1607) in order to "repair" my system (there are some quirks I want to get rid off) using a freshly created USB (as per description), but it fails with the message "make sure that there is enough disk space available in your PC" (rough translation from german; see attached screenshot) without any further information.

It then automatically cycles back to the question on how to install (i.e. with keeping data and apps or without) and then back into the above mentioned error message.

This is what I already tried or made sure of prerequisites needed:
I have made sure that there is definitely enough disk space available. My C: partition (where windows resides on) is 106 GB large and has currently over 58 GB of free space available. The system partition that is supposed to be 350 MB is still 350 MB (I read something about this potentially being reduced to 100 MB by other tools ...).I have deinstalled the Kaspersky anti virus tool (reinstalled it now after several tries with no success).I have disabled (i.e. fully decrypted) the disk encryption bitlocker on all disks.

My partitions (as seen from "Mini Tool Partition Wizard" and "Disk Manager"):
Do you have any ideas on what else could be wrong?
What intrigues me most is the fact that there is no further information in the error message on what or where is missing... Read more

Have you tried to mount the ISO in File Explore, instead if using an USB stick?

For a couple weeks now, My laptop has been making a "pop" sound everytime on start up after the windows logo comes together it makes a faint pop sound then continues to the login screen. Everytime I muted or unmuted the speakers it would make the sound too. I changed my driver the the Windows default and it stopped but the pop won't.

Laptop Model / Manufacturer : Gateway NV53A
Sound Driver : Realtek (But changed to Windows Default)

A:Laptop speakers emit a "pop" sound after "Starting Windows"

The windows default is the culprit here.

When your system boots, drivers started one after another, the pop sound came in because the default driver is not built to especially manage your audio card.

Download the driver from the manufacturer according to your model, install it and I assure you all will be fine.

cheers.

Hi

I have Both Window XP (C:/) and Vista Premium (E:/) on my system.

Sometimes when I run vista i get a message say something like this: "Disk E:/ is corrupt, run chkdsk on the drive to resolve issues" After a reboot the chkdsk utily runs before it opens vista and fixes any issues, but i get the same problem a few days later.

Any Ideas?
Thanks

A:constant message "Disk E:/ is corrupt, run chkdsk on the drive to resolve issues"

I'd be testing both the RAM and the hard drive. Vista is really good at stressing out a system and may show issues when XP was fine, as was the case with XP versus 98.

To test the memory I'd use: http://www.memtest.org/

Then find out what brand of hard drive you have, probably will show you in Device Manager, and use the manufacturer's diagnostics to test it.

Another cause could be the drivers for the motherboard. Have you installed any chipset drivers? What motherboard do you have?

You would do well to follow the instructions for it sounds like you have a HD on the verge of failing.

Probably just co-incidental that you just did a clean install.

After you back up run a chkdsk to check the HD status.

A- CHKDSK /R /F:

Quote:
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt.

Do this for each hard drive on your system.

When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter.

Then reboot and let the test run.

It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors.

See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.

B- Elevated Command Prompt:

Quote:
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)

At the top of the Search Box, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"

Hello,
I'm trying to install Windows 7 64bit to HP dc7800 Ultra slim desktop PC from USB flash drive (since PC hasn't got CD/DVD drive). At the partition selection step I get message "Windows cannot copy files to this disk".
I've already googled a lot and read this forum topics, but still can't overcome this issue.

I've tried the following:
format HDD and create partition table with DISKPART via win7 disk command promt,
format HDD and create partition table with GParted (creating to primary patition: ~50 GB NTFS '"WIN7" and ~100 GB NTFS "DATA",
wipe all data from HDD writing random data,
create bootable USB flash with different tools (Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool, Novicorp WinToFlash),
memtest86+ both operating memory modules (2 x 2GB) for 6 passes,
leave only one module connected to motherboard (with each),
reset CMOS setting in 3 ways (via BIOS, removing power cable and CMOS battery, pushing CLR_CMOS button on motherboard),
set HDD as the first boot device
but nothing helped.

I've searched in BIOS for different HDD emulation modes (AHCI, IDE), but the only present setting present:
Storage -> Device Configuration -> Hard Disk (SATA0):
Emulation type: Hard Disk, None,
Multisector Transfers: 8, 16, Disabled,
Translation Mode: Off, Automatic, Bit Shift, LBA Assisted, User.

What can I do? Your help is appreciated.

UPD:
Tried removing USB flash key and refresh the partition list in partition selection menu. Didn't help.

I'm pretty new at posting so I'm not sure of the best way to do this. When I start to log on to the net, whether using IE or Firefox an error message having to do with "Google" occurs immediately. (I usually use my Google bar to go directly to the site I want.) I've taken a print screen so that you can see that message directly but don't know how I should get it to you. (I'm used to emailing such things --) As I proceed I get another message which I have also copied. This one starts with the words "Assertion Failed." If I continue I usually get a "script error" message, a copy of which I do not have at this time. If I tell the message that I will proceed with going to my chosen web site, the last several times the site has come up in multiplicity, most recently it appeared 16 times, one right after another, totally out of my control, (causing I believe Foxfire to crash), and then just a bit ago, using IE, the site I logged on to came up 7 times. I really have no idea what to do about this so I'm hoping that you can help me once again.

I tried to clean-up my PC a year ago and ever since then I get two error messages every time on start-up.

1. "Error starting Autosync Launcher. Autosync Launcher could not be launched. Please make sure that Autosync Launcher was properly installed and try again". I have no idea what this is. Please help!

2. "AppleSyncNotifier.exe - unable to locate component. This application has failed to start because CoreFoundation.dll was no found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem". I have no idea what this is or how to fix it. Is there a simple way to get CoreFoundation.dll back on the computer? I tried to do it myself online with a free download but nothing seemed to happen as I still get the error message every time on start-up.

Both these error messages have been going on for about a year now so I'm reluctant to do a system restore going back that far as I'm not sure what other programs I might lose that I've loaded up since then. The system I'm using is Windows XP. Any help on either or both of the above would be much appreciated.

A:Windows Startup "No Disk" Message

I don't see the "usual suspects" there, but I would suspect IPOD or Itunes, or perhaps "disk keeper"

Anyway, try doing a "clean boot" to see if it happens:

Run msconfig and select the "Services" tab. Check "Hide Microsoft Services" and then disable the rest. Also uncheck "load startup group" on the general page.

See this link for detailed information:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;310353

Now restart and test the issue at hand

If no problems, run msconfig and recheck half the disabled items on the Services tab. Test again. If the problem recurs, UNcheck half the items you just checked to narrow down the culprit.

If the problem didn't occur, check the other half, so all the Services are enabled -- proceed to do this on the startup tab as well.

Get the idea? You want to isolate the problem to a specific startup if possible.

Note: if you already have items unchecked under msconfig > startups and are in “selective” startup mode – you should note what these are before beginning. They will need to be de-selected again.

A:"Windows - No disk" message at startup

This doesn't look copacetic since no file is listed, I'd check and "fix" it:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Subst] subst C: F:\

Other than that the scanlog is ok.

When did this problem begin? If recent, you might just want to try a System Restore.

The problem is occasionally due to the system trying to access some removable media which has no disk in the drive, such as a zip drive.

It can also be due to drive letters being assigned to drives that no longer exist. What exactly is on your "c:" drive?

Hi.

I am using Windows XP SP2. I just uninstalled Norton AntiVirus 2004. The uninstall would not complete, so I downloaded and ran the SymNRT program (from Symantec) to remove the program. All went well. The program advised that all Norton products had been successfully removed. Upon reboot, after I click my icon on the XP "Welcome" screen and type in my password, windows loads the desktop as normal. A few seconds later howeverm I get the following message:
"Windows - no disk Please insert disk in drive"
Clicking 'cancel' removes the message and everything appears to be fine. I did a bit of research and have already tried the following to no avail:

Clearing recent files list from QuickTime
Starting the PC in Safe Mode to see if the error comes up (it does).
Disabling SpySweeper from running at startup
Disabling ZoneAlarm from running at startup

I still get the error. I since have re-enabled ZoneAlarm and SpySweeper. I have also installed NOD32 AntiVirus. The error remains constant. It happens each time I reboot.

I notice that the log file below refers to L:\Adobe\Photoshop Elements in a couple of spots. I recently did something that caused drive letters to change. Hi,

I'm having problems with starting my pc.

Every time I try to boot it I keep getting the error "wuauctl.exe - No disk" that states:
"There Is No Disk in the Drive. Please Insert a Disk into Drive \Device\harddisk\Dr3"

And when I try to close the error message the computer reboots itself.

Any ideas?

A:"No Disk" Message on Windows XP [can't boot]

Does Windows start at all? Or is the message during the startup process and you can't get any further?

This problem is making me crazy:

I am trying to copy some files to a CD Disk, so that I can open them on a different computer. I have put a disk in the drive, highlighted the file, clicked on "send to", and I get the message: "Please insert a disk into Drive E (or F, whichever I happen to try it with)".

The drives won't recognize that there is a blank CD. If I put in an audio CD or a DVD, it recognizes it, and plays it fine. It's just the blank ones that are giving me a problem. I have tried several different brands of CD . . . same result . . . "Please insert a disk into drive".

Does ANYONE have a remedy for this problem, or a suggestion? Any help will be appreciated.

FYI : My computer is a Dell 8300, running Windows XP. My drives are an NEC CD-RW and a Samsung DVD-ROM.

A:Can't Copy to CD . . "No Disk In Drive" Message

Hello.
Stupid question.
Are you putting the blank CD in the NEC device?

Open "my computer".
RIGHT click the NEC drive
Left click "properties"
Left click the "recording" tab.
Is the box "enable recording on this drive" checked?

When did the problem begin?
Can you associate the onset of the problem to the addition or removal of hardware or software, to include an update to Windows or your antivirus program? Have you run a registry cleaner recently? I am NOT suggesting that you run a reg cleaner.

Have you EVER been able to burn files on this computer, using this NEC drive.

Basically, to be successful, you need the correct combination of burner / device, optical disk, software.
Are you using CD - R disks? Which brand & model?

Which optical disk are you using?

Which disk burning software is on your computer? Which disk burning software has EVER been installed on your computer?

How to troubleshoot CD playing problems.

I realize that your problem is burning, but many of the concepts are the same.

I have a Windows 7 machine.
It was working fine.
Now it will not boot.
When I try system repair, it says:
Root cause found
A patch is preventing the system from starting.
Repair action: System file integrity cheack and repair
Result: Failed. Error code 0x490

I have tried doing safe mode, last known good configuration etc and nothing works
Also, I tried to restore to an early checkpoint, but it claims that none exist, even thought I know we save restore points.

Please advise?

Hi everyone,
as you may already know the Toshiba System Settings require the Toshiba Password Utility to run properly. I installed the Password Utility but when i launch it i get the Error: „DLL load error.“
In another thread i found the „solution“ to install an older Version. I installed about 10 different older versions now, none of them worked.
Manual registering of the DLLs does fail (only 1 gets registered via regsrv32)
What to do? Thanks!

HP probook 4510s windows 7 32bit
I did a "disk sanitizer" and the laptop isn't rebooting right or reading my operating system cd it says "NON-SySTEM ERROR OR DISK REPLACE AND STRIKE ANY KEY WHEN READY"
1) i removed all assceraries from the leptop
2) ran a diagnostic test all passed
3) here are some photos attachments
4) i think i deleted the partition and the OPS wind.7
Please thanks

A:HP 4510s windows7 "Non-system disk or disk error replace..."

What is a "Disk sanitizer." Sounds like a disk wiper, or some optimizing or registry cleaning crapware that ruined your Win7.

Try booting into the Win7 DVD or Repair CD to System Restore to before you ruined the OS as shown in Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start which also provides the DVD if needed.

If you can't get it started with any of the steps given there then get the superior Clean Reinstall without the HP crapware which is the worst in the industry and throttles Win7 from its native state.

I do not know what I did. When I opened a message it open it "Message"; now it opens in "File". How can I get it back to open in "Message"?

A:Outlook 2016 - Message opens in "File", not "Message"

If you minimized the Ribbon, this caused it. Open a message and maximize the ribbon.

The error message reads as follows: "Message rules did not forward or reply to 1 message because the message would have been sent to one of your accnts. Accnt. mail.comcast.net Server mail.comcast.net"

She has only the one email account under a single name, is running XP and uses OE almost exclusively for her email.

Yesterday I built my computer, installed Vista and everything was fine. Today I turn it on and get this message.

"Windows Boot Manager

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change meight be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart you computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer for assistance.

File: \Boot\BCD
Status: 0xc000000f
Info: An error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data."

I tried safe mode but only got a black screen with my cursor. I also tried booting from my Vista CD, however when I do that Windows loads the files, then it goes to another loading bar with "Microsoft Corporation" under it, then the screen goes black, and the computer restarts. Any ideas?

I have recently bought a Kodak Easyshare M532, I didn't get the Easyshare software cd. I downloaded installer from the net and installed it. But I guess the online installation was faulty and it kept hanging. I removed Easyshare, now every time startup shows - "there was a problem starting c:\progra~2\Kodak\EasyshareSetup\$REGIS~1\Registration_8.3.30.1.s" , what do I do to get rid of this irritating notification?

A:Error msg. at startup-"there was a problem starting..."

Click "Start" and in the "Search programs and files" box type in

msconfig

It should find it for you. Run it and go to the "Startup" tab and see if the program causing the trouble is listed. If so, uncheck the box, reboot, then see if you've got it fixed.

Upon installing WMP 9 I received an error message titled : "Error Starting Program" , with a message stating: "The UNREGMP2.EXE file is linked to missing export ADVAPI32.DLL: SetNamedSecuityInfoW". I'm completely lost. I've tried redownloading the program several times and I even tried to download WMP 7.1. I keep getting the same message. Re-installing my hard drive is a last resort but if there is any advice or solution out there I'd gladly appreciate it!
