My graphics card is the Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family.

I just got Call Of Duty 2 and found out that my graphics card does not support this and many other games. My friend just bought the x850 and is willing to sell me his old GE Force FX 5900 128mb AGP for $40.

I was wondering if it is possible for me to just take out my Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family and replace it with the GE Force FX 5900 128mb AGP.

He was saying something along the lines of if my graphics card was PCI, since the one hes selling me is APG, they arent compatible.

What is Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family APG,PCI?

Hello,

I've been to Intel's website, and downloaded both the .exe and the .zip files of the subject driver, and neither one of the installation packages work. It gets toward the end and comes back with "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver installer has encountered a problem and needs to close." I've also reported this to Intel's tech support via email (as this is the only method of contact that they seem to accept). I was asked a bunch of questions by way of a form, that had nothing to do with their installation package crapping out. So to make a long story short, I have to wait until Intel gets back with me, but really need the driver in a more expedient amount of time. Would any of you kind folks happen to have it available to send to me? Hopefully?

Thank you,

WThorpe

Hi.

Been lurking this place for a while; found the articles and forum posts very interesting and useful.

With that short synopsis aside, I'm here in need of advice and/or answers to my... problem.

That problem is called my baby, otherwise known as computer, or, more specifically, her horrible "assets", otherwise known as the integrated graphics thing known as the 82945G Chipset.

Now, I'm not exactly a computer whiz; quite the opposite, in fact. You all have the right to laugh at me, mock me, or tell me I've posted in the wrong place, etc. I just need advice. Add all the hilarious commentary needed.

Anyways.

I recently got a new computer, not exactly the greatest thing, but "decent". Windows XP Home Edition, 150GB hardrive, 1GB Ram, 1.6 MHZ, a sexy monitor whose model I can't remember atm... etc, etc. It's purpose is as a workstation, but since it's the first computer I've gotten since 1999 that has more than 20GB of hard-drive space and more than 254MB Ram or whatever, I got excited to play games.

Straight to the point; I've wanted to play some (older) PC games on my computer, but I'm unsure if the integrated intel chipset thing (which took me 2 hours to research and gain a basic understanding of) can take it. An an example I want to intall Sims 2, and even though the official Intel site says my graphics card can support the game, the wikia states after sustained used the motherboard will b... Read more

A:I'm having relationship problems; her name is Intel 82945G Chipset. Help me

First thing we will need to know is the make and model of your machine.(makes it easier to get your answers).
A plug in graphics card should mostly be plug and play, provided your machine has the correct type of slots and one is available.May have to find the drivers for it or they could possibly already be installed.

Is Intel HD Graphics Family better than Intel G41 express chipset?

The name is only Intel HD Graphics Family there isnt a number after it in dxdiag

A:Is Intel HD Graphics Family better than Intel G41 express chipset?

Intel G41 express is the very old, Core 2 equivalent on-motherboard-gpu aka Eaglelake. It only supports up to dx10, it has awful and old drivers, and incomplete opengl support (less apps can run on it). It can idle in recent games like Dota 2 with up to 30fps with everything on low. Key word: idle. Don't even think about playing under more than 15-20fps.

Intel HD Graphics Family is on-cpu-die-gpu aka Sandy Bridge, it's still old now, but does have support for dx11 and opengl, and it has a lot more raw power than x4500(g41), depending on the cpu. It even supports overclocking with sizeable improvements.

Really there is no contest between the two families.

Good evening! Is this a video card? I have a problem with my laptop, my laptop screen goes weird after 2hours. I already brought my laptop to the computer shop, they said that the memory is not working or bad. Then, i bought a new ram. but the screen goes crazy even though i bought a Ram. is my video card bad? when i go to display adapters under device manager it says Intel (R) 945 Express Chipset Family. I've attached some pictures, on how my laptop screen looks like. I need your reply. Godbless!

Welcome to seven forums: Looks like an overheating problem. I would first try some canned compressed air and blow out the exhaust and intakes. Of course after the system has been shut down to cool down. But as bad as it is it could be a bad card, make sure yo have all the latest drivers. But since this appears after a couple of hours i would hedge a bet it is overheating, which may have caused your card to go bad as well. My opinion. fabe

Pretty tired of having outdated graphics cards that can run only basic specs of old games etc, so wondering if it's possible to upgrade or replace an Intel G33/G31 Chipset graphics card?

Running a..
Zoostorm Intel Celeron E3500 2.7Ghz CPU
Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family

And not entirely sure about the PSU... Haven't mustered up the stones to open it up and take a peak under the hood yet... I'm not very tech savy with the hardware unless it's relatively basic...

Any help would be really appreciated! And if anyones had any experience with this model at all that would be a big help as well as I've found it suprisingly hard to find a good detailed description about this exact model.

Intel integrated cards on laptops are definitively not meant for gaming as they have lower clock rates and a small amount of video memory, you won't be able to run most games at a good resolution and most of them will lag a lot

Hello guys, first time poster here

So i'm using a Gateway nv78, its a pretty cheap computer. It uses the above mentioned 4 series chipset integrated video card. Now the problem im having comes to the drivers and how it effects my game playing performance. i recently wiped my hard drive because i was planning on selling the pc, however i dont plan to sell it anymore. Now, my previous display driver had allowed me to turn my graphics settings down really low, thus allowing me to play (starcraft 2) at a playable FPS. now with my computer being essentially reformatted and using the drivers suggested by gateway, i can't adjust these settings to a low enough point to allow me to play these games. I've tried installing what i remember to be the driver i had before, but it is now telling me that said driver is not compatable with my machine, and that i should use the manufacturer's drivers.

now if anyone understood all of that, and can perhaps tell me how to get better drivers, or bypass the error of not letting me download these alternative drivers.

I'm clearly a tech noob, so any information you guys can shed would be MUCH appreciated

thanks alot
eric

Hi! ericw616, welcome to 7F

Do you still have the 7 OS on the system? we'd need to know the model, Starter, basic, Home Home Premium, pro, ultimate?

How serviceable is the notebook? Does it run pretty well?

Did you save back-ups?

If you haven't done too much with it you might be able to recover some files by using a file recovery app like PhotoRec - CGSecurity To get some information back. I wouldn't use those files, but it might give you enough info to jog your memory to where you could remember the right driver, and then you could go back and re-download it to re-install.

The driver page for your NV78:
Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / NV Series / NV78

Intel's site, but there again you would need to know the make of OS to match up the proper drivers:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear....aspx?lang=eng

You could use this to identify your chipset :

If your computer is a custom built job, then you should go to your mobo manufacturers website for the drivers.

Hi, I hope someone can help me.

I checked the laptop with a diagnostic tool that I found and it said there is a problem with the
Intel Graphics Driver Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset family 7.15.10.1591.
This was not really an error message that popped up, it just was a "statement" that said it
was not working properly and gave me suggestions on what to do such as checking for driver
updates, cleaning registry.
I checked and there are no updates for this driver, it is up to date. I scanned the registry and swept it and I'm still having the problem.
Still can't use the paint app at all.
Can I fix this driver? Should I do a restore to an earlier date? This only started happening a day or so ago.

Also when I checked the status in device manager it says that the device is working properly!

Hi, I came here because there were no information about solving a problem with this Chipset (Mobile Intel? 4 Series Express Chipset Family), but I find a video that explains that we have to get an older version for this chipset, not the one that has the WDDM 1.1.

So, the first you have to do is download this. It's a Graphic Accelerator from Intel, so don't worry about third party programs. Then you just have to install it and restart your computer and you will have this if you have this options available then everything it's okay, because this means that you have the proper version of the driver. I know it's a little bit complicated to explain, but this is the best solution I have found. The last version won't let you play games like counter-strike nor run applications such as emulators for android. With this, you can play Counter-Strike, Minecraft and enjoy other features that you can't with the latest version.

I hope this can help someone in someway, because it was a little hard to find this solution.

EDIT:

I forgot to mention that you have to disable Microsoft Update, because this feature will update your graphic card to the latest version (the one that has the WDDM 1.1 thing).

Running Windows 8 on a Dell laptop, I've attached a log file with all my computer's info.

The issue I'm having is that my Integrated Graphics won't update even though I'm using a signed driver from intel (This)
As you can see this driver is v9.3.0.1026 from 11/06/2012 while if you check my log file you'll see that I'm still on v8.15.10.2702 from March 2012.

I tried following what was suggested over here, but that driver is older than the one I'm currently using. I think I'm doing something wrong because in the post he says the version number is 15.17.18.2555, which is way past what intel is claiming is the version number for my IGC. And when I looked through my log I didn't see anything with a version number near that...

Anyway help would be very much appreciated!
Happy New Year!

A:Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family Driver

It was recently updated. Ill update my post.
And the Version number is the last number, which is 2555. I change the numbers so it matches windows 8 numbers.

EDIT: Sorry it's taking so long to update the driver, I'm having trouble with signing it.

EDIT 2: Whoop dee doo.. Turns out I don't have the original certificate and keys I used to create all my previous drivers with. I'll update the Custom Certificate Installer again.

Hi,

I just bought a VGA splitter in hopes of attaining an extended desktop but instead it is only a mirror image (one screen duplicated twice).

I though this woiuld work cause the place I used to work had splitters coming out of one video card running an extended desktop. So I bought a splitter thinking that is all I would need.

But from reading about similar problems it seems like I might need a new VGA card.

Currently I have an Intel r g33/g31 express chipset family, will this card be sufficiant enough to run an extended dsktop across 2 monitors? Am I missing some settings or something?

Or do I just need a new card? If so what kind of card would allow me to achieve my goal of an extended desktop at the lowest cost?

Thank you,
Chris Ahern
[email protected]

A:Extended Desktop Problems W/ intel r g33 g31 express chipset family

If you want to run 2 monitors in extended desktop you need a video card with 2 outputs. Depending on your motherboard, it will use AGP or probably if it's newer (last 2 years) PCIe (PCI Express). Your onboard video is not going to give you extended desktop even with a splitter.

First of all here is an Cnet Archive link for your computer that has detailed specifications on the right hand side of the page, you will have to scroll down slightly to see them and according to that info you have a Intel 915GV Express Chipset. But to be absolutely sure you can follow this tutorial from Windows Seven Forum to accurately detect hardware and use the info to update your system specs here at Eight Forums.

System Info - See Your System Specs

Are you trying to run these drivers with Win 8 (Windows Developer Preview) if so the installer has to be run in compatibility mode

Change settings for all users first

Then Choose Windows 7 as OS and run as an administrator.

The short version: there are no WDDM drivers for the 915GM graphics chipset. It may be possible to get things working with XP drivers, without Aero Glass effects. (Not a great loss.)

As stated, just want a worthwhile, but cheap upgrade. Nothing too fancy that will run 1080, just casual low spec gaming like the sims 2, C&C etc, and something that will smoth out the edges, and make it a little more visually appealing.

I have a dual core E6500, 2gb ram (ddr2), and currently windows 7 32-bit ultimate.

Thanks in advance

A:Best cheap upgrade from "Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family?

I'm not sure what you're asking.

Are you looking for an inexpensive graphics card to upgrade your onboard graphics?

If so, please list your system specs, particularly your specific motherboard model, and what sort of power supply you have.

Okay, I bought a new laptop recently, and I have a problem. Almost every game I try to play says, "AGP is not enabled....", and it tells me its needed for best performance. How do I enable it? I googled it, and I couldnt find anything, so I decided to ask here. My system specs are:

Computer Maker: TOSHIBA
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.70GHz
Memory: 1014MB RAM
Hard Drive: 200 GB
Video Card: Mobile Intel(R) 945GM

Thanks

A:How do I enable AGP on my Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset family card?

From what I've read, you have an onboard graphics card(on your motherboard) I'm not sure if you have just that onboard card, or if you just have another card. If so, you could go into your BIOS(usually delete/f1/f2 at startup, one of those keys) read through it a bit. I know that sometimes there's an 'enable AGP' option, or anything that looks like it.

However, it doesn't look like you have an AGP card in your laptop.
Check that out first though. You might also want to check if you have the correct drivers for your card installed. On a side notenboard cards aren't very good for games, but they might handle a few.

I have an HP Pavilion dv6 laptop (Intel Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GHz with Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family Video Adapter) and have recently upgraded it from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Thus far, all applications seem to run quite well on Windows 10 with a couple of exceptions (i.e., Chief Architect's Home Designer Pro 2016 and onOne's Perfect Photo Suite) - both of which are fairly graphics intensive and indicate that an upgraded video adapter driver is needed to function properly.

Is there a Windows 10 video driver available for my laptop configuration? If so, I can't seem to find one - from Intel, HP or Microsoft. I'm sure that someone on this forum knows for sure!

Thanks in advance for your response.

Do you have a more precise name of that laptop? When I search the HP website for drivers,

Be sure to enter the appropriate version of Windows in the box.

Also, it would have narrowed down the search if you could have provided the name of the country in which you bought the laptop.

I have a set of HP Z210 Workstations with E3-1245-V2 Xeon Cpu's, SSD boot drives and varying sizes of memory from 8-16GB 1600Mghz DDR3 ECC. We use Windows 8 Enterprise for these machines, with Hyper-V enabled.
We get regular driver failures from the 2 sets of USB controllers on the machines (Mainly and issue for the KB & Mouse) that can only be resolved with a full power down (not restart) and a power up. This happens at least once every 1-3 days per machine.
I had gone through the HP support, but they have advised this isn't an issue on their side, and I had agreed all along. I was just hoping to get some traction by notifying them. Anyway, after a lengthy trouble shooting session, we found that once Hyper-V
was enabled, the fault arose.
As it was an Intel chip, they I asked them. They advised that on Windows 8, the drivers are supplied via windows update and that it was not their issue.
So, how can I get this resolved? Not through HP or Intel, surely through MS? Maybe not. Disabling Hyper-V is not desired as I the teams with these PC's are developers and require local visualization. Also, we have templates ready for Hyper-V, I don't really
want to remove Hyper-V and use Virtual box or VMWare workstation. but I am at wits end with the fault and lack of help from the vendors.
Please help.

A:Hyper-V causes Intel(R) Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller driver to fail

I have found a work around for this fault with the USB failure - ENSURE YOU POWER  THE MACHINE OFF - DO NOT RESTART.
Its almost like the restart doesn't initialise the device correct, thus causing a failure.

Hi Everyone!

I have an Intel D945GNT motherboard(with integrated 82945G Express Chipset Family). I tried Windows 7 ultimate x64. After installation everything worked properly but the integrated video card. There was an explanation mark on the Video card device icon. I tried the windows built in driver and the newest intel driver and the Vista x64 driver too(download it from intel.com). I updated my Bios, but I got the same error (Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)) in device manager. So i can't change the monitor's refresh rate, and when i try to ghange the resolution I see a default monitor adapter insted of intel 82945g. Now I can't run even a 3D Screen saver.
Intel sad that Windows does not support this board so they can't help, but there are drivers for this chip I(ntel? What sould I do to solve this probem? Or I have to buy a PCI-e Video card if I want to use Windows 7?

Than I installed this (again, nothing changed) - Graphics — Unable to use the native resolution of some displays

I assume that problem is with so called EDID, but I have no idea how to solve my problem.

Are there any known compatibility issues between the Intel 865 chipset and nVidia-based video cards?

The reason I ask is that after a year or more of running this system, suddenly no AGP video card I put into this system will work unless it's in plain VGA mode (no drivers). As soon as I load its proper driver, the system won't go back into Windows 98 or Windows 2000 (dual-boot system). It just hangs with a lot of gobbeldegook on the screen.

All the AGP cards I have here are nVidia-based cards so I have no other type card to test with.

At present, I'm using an old S3 PCI video card and at least it gets into Windows; but, I'm stumped.

A:Intel 865 Chipset and nVidia chipset issues?

Alex, I built quite a few systems with Intel D865PERL boards (865PE chipset) and nVidia video cards and never had a problem. My workbench machine right now is running a D865PERL board with a nVidia card with no problems.

Intel released a new chipset driver on 6/04/2007, version 8.3.0.1013 which covered the 865 family, eg. 865G, 865GV, 865P and 865PE.

http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-009241.htm

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/fil...rating+Systems&lang=eng&strOSs=All&submit=Go!

In the release notes under Issues Resolved, item #4 stated; "Some devices were not updating correctly or at all. Fixed in installer."

http://downloadmirror.intel.com/13499/ENG/relnotes.htm

You may want to try that update. The only problem I see with the update is since you are dual booting, the latest update is OK with Win2K, however Win98 is not mentioned in All Operating Systems. To get back to an 865 chipset driver that covered both Win2K and Win98SE you had to go back to the release of 12/16/2004, version 6.3.0.1007 that covered both Win2K and Win98SE.

Other than updating the chipset driver, I am at a loss to suggest a place to start.

Their should be ( on the site where you found the update) information as to what issues it specifically addresses. Most of the time it is advisable to update chipset drivers. They control all the way everything your MB does, from the Ethernet to NB to Sb and ram communication. Where as a bios update should only be done if it specifically addresses issues you are experiencing, or new support for your CPU. This is of course my opinion. There'll be others I'm sure.Fabe

There's no place to put a graphics card in the laptop, the intel isn't a card, just a chipet. You could search for an external graphics solution, but otherwise it's a no-go.

The X6800 outclasses the AMD CPUs by a wide margin in virtually every circumstance of performance measurement. The CPU also runs cool in comparison to earlier Intel CPUs and consumes less than 75W. By any standard of measurement the X6800 is an success bringing Intel back on top.

The E6700 which has a rather interesting naming scheme considering it’s only 266MHz slower than the x6800 while having the same cache and structure is right in there with the x6800 in performance, slower than its bigger brother but faster than the competition. For a suggested MSRP of $530, the E6700 is an easy choice for those wanting a fast system without wanting to shell out a grand.

I have been noticing for a long while on my optional updates - "Display - Mobile Intel (R) 4 Series chipset family"

it showed update was released some where around June 2011, so I thought lemme do this one & installed it on Dec 24th.

this one to be exact: http://winqual.microsoft.com/support/?driverid=20411791

While installing the script, everything zoomed in by around 500% percent may be, then it turned normal. In between, I ha couple of black screens, which I use happens during "graphics card" update (just correct me if I'm wrong). After installation was completed, ... may be after 5-10mins, I had another black screen, I thought may be something failed or system went in for a reboot only for my surprise to see the screen back. This didn't repeat again though, thankfully.

Now ever since this update, while booting the system... after the window logo page, I get black screen for a short while, before I get Please wait, welcome page.. which keeps me guessing whether system turned off or restarted or its due to my current issues.

Not only this, while opening up some scripts which asks for permission to run the file ... for example when I try to open Command Prompt as Admin (to run sfc), screen goes into black screen & then flashes back with a few secs, with a faded screen asking me permission (I meant the regular faded screen, so nothing wrong with that)

can any one guide me, if this issue is related to the corrupt files prob which I'm having... Read more

Hi,

I think my chipset is Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.93GHz and my motherboard is Gigabyte GA-8TRC410M-NF but when using Driver Genius to scan for driver updates it reports back AMD South Bridge Driver (PCI bus) & AMD Chipset Drivers (ATII/O Communications Processor SMBus Controller) need installing/updating ?

Do I need them ? I think I've installed ATI Catalyst before for the SMBus driver but recently uninstalled because I didn't understand what it was for and didn't like the folder/installer

A:AMD Drivers On An Intel Chipset (South Bridge & Chipset Drivers ?)

First thing, check your specs just to be 100% sure of what you have.

Second, Driver Genius and any similar program is not really recommended as they aren't particularly reliable.

Then if you still have drivers for stuff you don't have we can talk about them.

Question is (since my budget is so tight) will I notice any real difference by choosing the less expensive SIS chipset board over the Intel chipset board?

A:SIS chipset vs. Intel chipset

Not an answer to your question exactly, just an observation:

I would look for a main board with PCI Express graphics interface instead of AGP.
AGP video cards are still available, but the overwhelming majority of new cards are PCI-X, and they are generally a bit cheaper than their AGP counterparts.

Unless, of course, you want to transfer an AGP card over to the new board.

My computer is a Gateway One and like it has an Intel HD Family graphics card.
I update the drivers but it causes minecraft to not work (it says bad graphics card)
It also doesnt allow me to use Photoshop CS6 (i can load it but as soon as i open a photo it wont show photo)
Right now my driver is currently on 8.15.10.2372 but when i update it goes to 9.17.10.2736 and changes the name from Intel HD Graphics Family to Intel HD Graphics Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.2)
Is there any way to have it fully updated and allow it to have minecraft and photoshop working?

Hello everybody. So I have a Gateway ZX6971 Running windows 8 RP Build 8400
I am having this problem where i cant get minecraft to work. It turns on and starts up, but then the game states that i have a bad graphics driver or openGL. My driver is actually up to date and same for openGL so what can I do to fix this? The driver is actually on what i believe is made for windows 8 because it is now titled Intel(R) HD Graphics Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.2). Now i did a clean instal onto here so my old driver is gone. I recently downloaded it again through softpedia (gateway for some reason only has Nvidia drivers on the page for my computer) and as soon as i load it, it states that it doesnt meet the min. system req..... Basically how can i make minecraft work?

I have just spent the last hour on the phone to Tiscali Broadband technical support because I am having problems with my modem. They now tell me that my USB chipset (VIA) does not work well with their modem and that I should get an Intel Chipset.

I am not technical and this has confused me, does this mean software of hardware? And if it is software am I able to download it?

Help gratefully received as I am going up the wall every time my connection drops out.

A:Intel Chipset

This indeed would be hardware - going from one chipset to another - it means a new motherboard. However, since VIA is one of the largest chip makers i find this hard to believe. You can download newer chipset drivers for VIA from www.viaarena.com - its the Via Hyperion 4-in-1 driver you want.

It may also be possible to get a ethernet Modem instead of USB from Tiscali, although you may need an ethernet card, although it would be easier and cheaper then a new motherboard.

You identify your chipset by your motherboard model. The chipset, is a chip on the motherboard , not on your CPU. Intel Core2Duo is your CPU model. You have to find what is your motherboard model so you know which chipset it wears.

There is a handy application that can help you idendify your chipset if you don't know which one it is. It's called CPU-Z. You can download it here: http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpuz_149.zip

Open the application, it gives you a list of your hardware. Go to Motherboard tab and look for chipset

Spend some money on a separate video card. You didn't say anything about your motherboard. Wether it has a PCIe or AGP video connector. If you want to play serious games, it's always good not to use on-board video if you can get away from using it

After installing the new chip-set and restarting my PC I ran the Intel Driver Utility and it was able to see the new chip-set and it said it was valid. Does this mean I did the right thing and should not see any problems?

A:Is the new Intel Chipset right for me?

It ok - generally you gain from any updates relevant to your chipset, and if not they just load previous driver drivers from previous releases - meaning each new release is backward compatible, and each new release covers the new motherboard chipsets as well as the older chipsets.

I have a board [foxconn mars] that runs the p35 chipset AND supports ATI crossfire with both slots running @16X.
As for sli, that is nvidia technology and you would have to buy a board with a nvidia sli chipset.

So is it possible for me to uninstall my current graphics driver and then install the latest Intel version? I'm not really sure where to go from here. Thanks in advance guys, I hope you all have a great holiday!

A:Issue Updating Intel (R) HD Graphics Family

Hello TSSG and welcome to Seven Forums.

Intel has many different series of graphics: 2500, 3000, 4000, etc. Some utilities will simply use the generic designation of "Intel Graphics Family" whenever they detect an Intel driver rather than name a specific version.

When a company like Intel issues a driver, each computer manufacturer is free to customize that driver for their own line of computers. I suspect that Dell did exactly that for its line of Inspiron computers. Because the Intel driver has been customized by Dell, if you try to install the latest and greatest directly from Intel, it could seriously hose your computer. Quick short story:

About a year ago Intel and Windows Update said a new driver was available for my Intel HD 3000 Graphics. I installed it and immediately my Sony Vaio began crashing, hanging, and doing all kinds of weird stuff. Intel and Sony both told me the same thing: never use a non-customized driver if the computer manufacturer had done any modifications to the driver. It took Sony about 6 months to offer their own customized version of the driver. I installed it and haven't had any problems.

So my advice is to wait until Dell does its customizing and then, if you really, REALLY have to get the latest and greatest, get it from Dell. When it comes to drivers, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Hi there, I upgraded my Aspire S7-392 to Windows 10 a few weeks ago, and while most things seem to be working fine, the driver for the Intel (R) HD Graphics Family display adapter has had the yellow exclamation mark of 'something's wrong' next to it ever since. I'm now unable to plug my laptop into the external monitor I use for work (as nothing happens when I do so), and graphics performance is visibly slowed down (to the point of unusability) when playing even fairly low-demand games. All of which would seem to indicate that there's a pretty major problem with the drivers. I spent literally 10 hours on the phone to Microsoft customer service trying to figure out the issue, but all they could tell me after a fairly intensive investigation was that they didn't know what the issue was, and to wait for driver updates from Acer or Intel. I have the latest driver from the Acer support website installed (although there doesn't seem to be one specifically for Windows 10), and I've rolled back and updated and tried several versions of the drivers from there, but all seem to have the same issue. I also downloaded the Windows 10 drivers from Intel that are supposedly specifically for my processor and graphics setup, but when I try to install them, it says that my computer doesn't meet the requirements (which is pretty confusing when I have the exact hardware the driver is designed for).I've searched these support forums for other Aspire S7 users having similar... 1. Download the "Intel Driver Update Utilty" 2. Go to device manage and uninstall/delete your Intel graphics driver3.  Run the Intel driver update utility.  Your current graphics driver is a custom Acer/Intel  OEM graphics driver.  Thats why it won't let you install it.  If the generic graphics driver that the update Utilty installs doesn't work quite right, then you'll have to go back to the driver that's on Acers website.  If don't want to use the Intel driver update Utilty, then you'll have to download the zip driver file instead of the .exe driver......and then use the "have disk method" to install it. It's probably easier to just use the Intel driver update Utilty.

Hello all,

Just wondering if Windows 8 RP includes full native/out of the box support for the Intel Z77 (Ivy Bridge) chipset?

I have installed it on my new 3770K rig based on the Asus P8Z77-V PRO motherboard. Everything seems to be working correctly. However, I can't find any Z77 chipset driver installers on the Intel website.

The chipset driver that I can download from the Asus website only installs when I force it to install by using compatibility mode. Wondering if I should do this or just leave it as it is after a clean install as it seems to be recognised anyway.

Thanks

A:Intel Z77 chipset support.

Welcome to Eight Forums OD.

I would just leave it as it is now.

Chipset drivers are better to get from the OEM or motherboard sites.
Asus will have new Win8 drivers anytime from now until the release.

The only drivers I D/L from Intel are the RST (for all computers) and Graphics drivers for my laptop.
Most of the rest are from OEM or motherboard site, all graphics cards from manufactures site.

For any pre-release OS I check if any drivers are needed after the clean install, if none are needed I just go with it.
These beta releases can be picky about drivers, usually after RTM the drivers are better and the OS handles them better.

It says that the Intel 430TX will support 4 Mbytes to 256 Mbytes of main memory. Much to my dismay, I found that Call of Duty 2 does not work on my computer. I meet all of the minimum requirements (1.83 GHz duo processor, 1 gb ram, 120 gb hard drive), but the problem in running the game is in the fact that the chip, the 945 GM (Calistoga), is not 100% directx 9.0 compatible. I think this means that only some games work on directx 9.0, while others do not. That being the case, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this chip and can offer any advice as to what I should do/ what games I could play, etc. Thank you.

A:Intel 945GM Chipset help

Only a very few high end laptops are capable of real gaming, the prime purpose of a laptop is business/office work and that is what they are mostly all made for.

Alienware/Dell do make gaming capable laptops, but you realise that when you see the price of them....

It may be better to get this shifted to the Games forum, where someone may have tried out some games on the chipset.

A:Need Intel Chipset drivers

Well; the thing is; usually the drivers intel puts out are just "generic" drivers; as they arent made specifically for any brand. What is the brand of your motherboard?

What version of Intel Chipset Inf is being used for Windows 7? I ask because I see two versions but they don't seem accurate:

Intel Chipset Inf v9.1.0.1013:
Icrontic ? Intel chipset drivers for Windows 7 have arrived

Intel Chipset Inf v9.1.1.1012:
intel drivers pour chipsets

Obviously 9.1.1.1012 would seem newer, problem is while it clearly supports Windows 7, no mention is made of the X58 chipset (Tylersburg).

The other Inf, 9.1.0.1013, while it does not make a mention of Windows 7, it does make a mention to the X58 chipset.

Hi guys,

Does anyone know what is the maximum hard disk size I can install on my PC with the Intel 945G chipset.

I have looked on the Intel web site for details, alas I can't find anything as of yet.

Thanks,
Dash

A:Intel 945G chipset

The largest that is currently available (1TB, or 1000GB, at the moment), hard disk size limits are a thing of the past.

Recently, a game I was playing crashed and alerted me my graphics driver was out of date. I checked what driver I had (Intel 945 Express Chipset on WinXP Home), and went to Intel's website. I downloaded the driver, and ran the setup program. Early in the installation, I see 'Unknown error, setup will now exit.'
That error doesn't really help me. At all.
I tried to install it again yesterday, and the process bar got half-way complete, so I at least had a hope. And then, of course, the same error message greets me again.
Now, though, other programs and games tell me there is a problem with my graphics card and refuse to run. I believe it got so far in the installation and changed something, and wasnt able to resort back to working settings.

Any one able to help? The error message doesn't really give me any clues, so I don't know where to go from here.....

I'm helping a friend of mine build a computer, and I'm unsure exactly how to choose what chipset I want to buy for him. Previously, I just sort of looked at each of my available motherboard options, and chose which one had the requirements I was looking for. However, my friend is on a budget, so I feel like buying a specific chipset might be a better, cheaper option (instead of buying one with the ports that he wants, but with other ports he doesn't need).

Is there an easy way to compare the different chipsets? The Wikipedia article is somewhat useful, but also seems to have some inconsistancies (I own a Z68 motherboard with USB 3.0 support, something the Wikipedia article doesn't list). Then again, perhaps this is normal for motherboards (which is why I'm asking for advice).

To elaborate on my friend's preferences, he has no need for any integrated graphics, and would be interested in future-proofing (SATA III, USB 3, PCI-e 3), if the price is right. He'll be buying an Ivy Bridge LGA 1155. I can help provide any other details, if required.

A:Choosing an Intel chipset?

If he is buying an Ivy bridge, he will have to go Z68 Gen 3 or z77. The board itself does not have graphics on it, the CPU does. But, there really is no such thing as future proofing. No matter what you chose, a newer CPU and chipset will be out within 6 months. That being said, I believe the Z77 boards are the closest thing to it.

My laptop has the Intel 945GM chipset. Installation has always been flawless with Windows 7, even up to build 7077. The only thing is I always have to install the older driver from Intel in order to fully utilize the S-Video out functionality. You will see from the 1st pic (1: the clear edge of the screen) that when using the default installed driver, the output needs zooming (2). This cannot be done from within Windows as far as I can tell.

After installing the drivers from Intel (using Vista compatability) i can fully use the Intel Graphics Media Accellerator Driver as shown in pic 2 to zoom the output to fir the screen.

This is a very strange issue as there is nothing wrong with the drivers shipped with the latest builds of Windows 7.

Hi there,

I found a solution for this. It's the "Aspect Ratio" setting in the Intel driver. Unfortunately, in Windows 7 the Intel Graphics Settings tool is missing, so you cannot choose between "Maintain Aspect Ratio", "Center Desktop", "Stretch to Full Screen"...

The default seems to center the desktop. I now found the registry setting for this.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{CLSID-here-you-have-to-find-the-right-one}\0000\

In this key, you find many entries, beginning with ~3DMark03.exe and several other game executables.

Now search for the DWORD ForceBorderForMAR. Set it to 1. This worked for me and stretches non-native resolutions to full screen.

Hope this helps...
