Hello. So I'm an art student and I use my laptop but the colors are extremely cold/washed out and blue-ish compared to my iphone or my old Hp pavillion G windows 7 laptop, It's as if the vibrance or saturation is extremely low. I've tried so many ways to fix this, I've tried; Messing with the display calibrationsMessing with the brightness and contrastUpdating/Reinstalling my display adapter (Intel R HD graphics 5500)Updating my bios I even sent my laptop in for repair and just received it back today and the issue was not resolved (CSO #: BHXY366501) Is there any way to fix this or is this just how the laptop was made to look??

Is anyone familiar with what kind of hardware problem would cause the screen to appear light/faded for the first 30 seconds during bootup? After that, I get all kinds of misc weird errors, but I am sure it is hardware related.

memory, video card, and motherboard all check out.

Thanks in advance.

The top half of the Avatar on my Welcome Screen and Start Menu is faded above a downward curve extending from side-to-side in the image from the tops of the Avatar's frame color shift points--with that part of the picture above the curve being much lighter in color than that below it.

This condition both when I use one of Vista's provided .bmg images or one of my own .jpg images.

Originally, I thought that this was some kind of stupid "effect" that Vista was going for, but now think that it's probably yet another Vista "glitch"!

Any suggestions or comments?

There is nothing obvious in your scan that would cause your "blue screen" problem.
Have you checked the Windows "Event Viewer" to see what program(s) is causing the problem. To view the event's log go to Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools and double click "event viewer" and look for error events which are denoted by a red circle with a white cross. You can double click an Item for an explanation of what went wrong.

"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps

My computer has recently died the death (multiple errors) and a techy friend of mine has recommended reinstalling Windows.

My problem is that the sticker with the product key on is faded all to heck and unreadable.
Is there any way to reinvigorate the sticker? The top barcode is still visible if that is of any use.

Alternatively I have an old dud laptop (also dead, I think the motherboard burnt out) which was on Vista. The sticker on this one is perfectly visible. Would I still be able to create a vista installation media and then perhaps upgrade to Windows 10.

I really don't want to have to purchase a new version of windows for the sake of a faded sticker.

Thanks in advance guys.

My computer blue screened yesterday saying something about free space on the disk which didn't make sense cause i still have 50% space available. I restarted and it seemed like I had a virus, so I did a system restore to a couple days before. Ever since then a lot of icons/folders appear faded. I know this is because they are hidden but before this blue screen/restore happened the folders and icons that are now faded weren't. I have never seen one icon/folder on my computer that appeared faded or dimmed and now they are, so is there any way I can change this back?

Run a full scan with Malwarebytes in Safe Mode if necessary, followed by your AV full scan. I'd also run a full scan with SUPERAntiSpyware - Downloads which digs out spyware that remains after uninstall in registry.

Then run SFC /SCANNOW Command.

If this doesn't repair it update your Display driver, seeing if a new one is provided by Windows Updates after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3)

You can also try System Restore to before the problem began, if necessary from System Recovery Options

If that fails, uninstall the display driver and reinstall it by restarting the PC.

Greetings: This is my first time on any Help Forum.
My Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop on boot-up consistently gives a blue screen with ERROR (0X000000ED (0X81ACA988, 0XC0000006,0X00000000,0X00000000).
I have read most of your fixes BUT in my case no matter what I do it ALWAYS boots to this screen. Trying to boot to Safe Mode results in a list of drivers prefixed by “multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)c:\windows\driver.sys etc
The machine will not boot from Floppy or CD and I’ve tried every combination of boot sequence under the F12 menu. In the BIOS it will not allow me to change any relevant settings, only the “system date”, “system time” and “quiet boot”.and I cannot select the dropdown menu items either. Booting under Normal Startup, I see the Windows Logo and all that, but then the blue screen appears.
I’ve tried removing the hard disk to get it to boot to floppy, removing the battery (which is totally dead), memory module, etc. Only thing left I think is to sling it in the Caribbean Ocean and go drink a bottle of rum.
Any help before I do this would prevent a hefty hangover

I have searched to find an answer to this problem of faded pictures when printed from windows photo gallery. I have seen a few others having the same problem, but no solutions. I am hoping that someone now can help.

I can print pictures from other software on my computer, from the internet, etc, with great photo quality. When I print from Windows photo gallery they are very light and faded looking. I have made sure the adjustments are for my printer.

It seems that most of the people experiencing this problem had canon printers. Does anyone have a solution to this?

A:faded printed pictures

I have found the solution to this problem, you need to untick the checkbox for "borderless printing", this is how to do it:

When you click print, go to Options > Printer Properties

Click on the "Page Setup" tab, then Untick the box that says "Borderless Printing"

Hi...My beloved Acer M1600 Desktop with Windows XP SP3 OS just went bad ...not suddenly but in steps til all I have is a black monitor screen so I would not have a clue what the problem could be anything.... I can switch the power on and the fan goes....the monitor that had a bright yellow light switches to a basicly very dim flickering light....I just established that the Graphics Card fan is going .......and I tried F8 on startup but nothing....Lately I have had a problem with my cat dancing on the keyboard but she is deaf and takes no notice of my howls of frustration.....So this one has got me stumped....
However Prior to the black screen ...I recall I was having big problems with Firefox and Chrome ...both started crashing as soon as I tried to load in a web site...later both would not open at all.....I recall rebooting and I had my normal screen with my shortcuts then later I had no shortcuts just my screen picture and then later again the black screen

Could anybody please offer any suggestions ....Could it be a Virus?? Thanks for any info ....MK

A:Acer M1600 just faded away?

I think it would be worth seeing if it will run another OS booting from the DVD

do you have another PC that works and has a DVD writer - you could then create a UBUNTU DVD to run from the machine
that will see if there is a hardware issue at all ?
or if its a windows or harddrive issue

Do you have a set of recovery DVDs ?

quite a long post of instructions here

UBUNTU Stand Alone DVD

Note the latest version of UBUNTU needs a DVD to use and boot from

if you only have CDs then you can use an older version, version 10 or 11 from this archive list

It may be possible to boot from another Operating System
This will at least test the Hardware and also see if you can see the Harddrive and possibly get any of your data off.

If you have another PC with a DVDwriter and spare DVD
Download the ISO

UBUNTU version 14
For almost all PCs. The following ISO 32Bit image will work on most machines with Intel/AMD/etc type processors and almost all computers that run Microsoft Windows, as well as newer Apple Macintosh systems based on Intel processors.

You can also run from a USB device now - if the Machine supports booting off a USB Stick Read more

Is there a tweak that brings ALL text up clean and clear?

A:Only some text has faded appearance.

Hello Alan,

You can check the usual items listed below to see if they may be able to help with this:
Make sure that you are using the native screen resolution for your monitor.Check to see if you can use a higher screen refresh rate.Try the different ClearType settings to see if one looks better.Check the program to see if it has it's own font settings that can be adjusted.

Greeting. I've been experiencing an issue, and I finally wanted to ask about it.
Thing is: Sometimes (typically "arrow" shapes) have a "fade" effect on their sides. I'd give an example of a popular website that shows these issues, but now that I'm looking for one I can't find any. (Typical, huh?)
Well I recently tried WaniKani and it's very pronounced there. I made a screenshot comparing it with IE. What I use there is WaterFox (my learning browser) which is basically FireFox, my main browser is PaleMoon, which is basically also FireFox and It has the same Issues. Only addon I use is adblock, plugin-wise I have the usual: Flash, Java, VLC.
Any Ideas what it could be, and how I could fix it?

Help! BSOD!! My laptop started giving me the blue screen of death yesterday and just won't quit. I haven't installed any new hardware lately, so I'm not sure what the problem could be. It says: "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL"
STOP: 0x0000000A (0xFF1701FO, Ox00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804D9B64). Disable BIOS Memory options such as caching or shadowing."
I tried Last Known Good Configuration and it still gave me the BSOD, I rebooted in Safe Mode and did not get the BSOD. But when I boot normally, I get it every time within 10 minutes of booting up. A previous thread recommended reseating the memory, but that didn't help. I uninstalled the last two programs I installed (over 2 weeks ago), but no good.
I checked the minidump folder, there's nothing there less than a year old.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Greetings. :)

I'm running Windows 7 x64 and have been since August (Was RC, now Ultimate). For the last I don't know how long, I've been blue-screening. At first it was rare, but now it's been more constant.

The bluescreens have been of the following variety:
1A MEMORY_MANAGEMENT <~ Constantly. Sometimes within 5 minutes, sometimes within 2 hours. Most often during video games, but that just might be chance.
1E? IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL <~ Happens almost as often as MEM_MANGMNT
?? CACHE_MANAGER <~ Most recent

I've also gotten freezes where the computer would begin to stutter (including audio), with total freezeups of the screen until it would fix itself, then again, and again until it couldn't fix itself (hard freeze).

Provided is my NFO file, zipped up for those who want to poke.

BSOD's can be provided.

A:Blue Screen after Blue Screen (Win7x64)

Something that I always try first, [almost] regardless of the actual computer's failure symptoms, is a known-good power supply.

A power supply that is putting out incorrect voltages, or that has a lot of AC noise on the DC outputs, can appear as almost any problem under the sun. Even a brand-new power supply, from a reputable manufacturer, can be bad.

Power supplies today are so inexpensive, that I always have a selection of various sizes on-hand at all times (it helps that I am an OEM of custom-built computers).

Something else, that often fixes 'unstable' machines, is to [when the power is off and the computer's case is open] basically un-plug (disconnect) and re-plug (connect) all connectors, RAM (DIMM) modules, the CPU chip, etc. You should be sure to do this (un-plug and re-plug) on every connector that you can see, inside your computer.

It is surprising, how many 'weird' problems can be traced to a simple 'the connector was not fully plugged in' type of problem.

Almost like it's grayed out, but not quite. I had it do this when I first installed Win 8.1, messed with some settings, but none that seemed to make any sense & it went away. Check if high contrast mode is on:

Press Winkey-q and arrow down to Settings. Then type in the search line the word contrast.
You should get a hit "turn high contrast mode on or off" or words to that effect. Click it to check the setting.

hello. having problems with LCD montior. It is a quality monitor--NEC Multisync LCD 1830--but is about 5 years old.

For a week or so it was flickingering slightly. Then one day it faded to black for a minute, came back for 30 seconds, then went black for a long time. On subsequent days I tried it, no luck. Then one day I tried it again and it worked for a few minutes before fading to black again. When it works for brief periods, the image quality is perfect. But at any time it is liable to go totally black again.

Might it be at the end of its lifespan? Can anyone tell me the normal lifespan for LCD's?

Are they worth repairing, in general?

Note: i am quite sure the problem is with the monitor, not the CPU or anything else. i hooked up another monitor and it has been working perfectly for days.

Recently my computer was hacked (I guess you could say) by Anti-Virus Gold and thanks to your guys' tutorial, I was able to delete it. But I'm still having some problems that might or might not be related. *shrug* Anyway...

1) When I go to change my desktop wallpaper, I click on browse and click on the file I want to open...and nothing happens. And there are also fewer wallpapers to choose from from the list. I can't figure out what the problem is. And I have changed my wallpaper thousands of times and I've never had this problem. It's really bugging me!!!

2) When I go to My Computer and view my thumbnail files, some are faded. It's really weird. This started happening when my computer was hacked.

3) This is kind of minor, but when I log onto my computer, Internet Explorer pops up for some reason. Again, it never did before. Oh, and the buttons on IE changed w/out me actually doing anything. *sigh*

So, can anyone help me? This spyware junk has really messed up my compy and it really pisses me off!

Thanks for the help...

My BenQ T905 monitor (cabled as an auxiliary monitor to my Mac PowerBook G4 laptop) worked fine for about a year (purchased Nov. 05). Then several months ago, I noticed it was flashing a few times when booting up. Nothing else was problematic, so I assumed it was a minor glitch.

Today, with my Macintosh Powerbook powered up for several hours, suddenly my BenQ monitor dimmed and the light started sort of draining down and away. The whole thing went black and, as it did, I heard a small pop come from somewhere in back of it.

I turned it off, then back on. When I do, I see the "BenQ" logo for a split second before it goes to solid black again. Is my monitor fried? Or is there something I can try to coax it back to life?

So my issue is like the image I posted above - I have faded blackish lines moving all over the screen (kind of a fuzziness). It will gradually change as I change the monitor refresh rate, however it's always there. I have noticed, I can only see it in windows; if I'm in bios, It's not active. I can not try another monitor because I have no other monitor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

My computer died so we have reinstalled Windows only problem is though is the activation code that
comes with the computer has faded off and the stickers all kinda weird.

Microsoft have told me to ask toshiba if they can track which activation code was for my computer (I think it registered the computer serial info when I first got it). I can't find a way to ask Toshiba unfortunately.

Help? I can't afford to buy it again. I already paid as part of the computer cost.

> I can't afford to buy it again. I already paid as part of the computer cost.
You are right about that. Toshiba offers notebook with preinstalled operating system and when you buy notebook you pay for hardware, preinstalled software and valid licence for this preinstalled OS.
Please note this product key belongs to preinstalled OS version and it is not some kind of ?universal? key that you can use for activation if you use own OS version.

When you buy new notebook recovery image is saved on HDD as backup. This allows notebook owner to reinstall original recovery image ans start to use notebook with ?factory settings? again.
In case that HDD is defective or owner hat installed own OS version this recovery image will not be usable anymore.

To avoid this situation Toshiba has preinstalled small ?Toshiba recovery media creator? to allow notebook owner to create recovery media as DVD or USB and make recovery image back-up.
This recovery media is bootable device and recovery image can be installed without any problem.

If you check user?s manuals document that you got with your notebook you will see that the whole theme is described there. With other words every notebook owner is informed about all this.
Due to all these reasons recovery media creation is very important.

Back to your problem: after reading your posting I don't know what is your problem exactly and I don't know if HDD is defective but I presume you didn?t create this recovery media, ri... Read more

I have spilled water on my laptop keyboard(Lenovo Thinkpad Z60m), and attempted to dry it out and then the picture clouded over black. I dried it with a hairdryer a bit and rebooted it and now the picture is there but extremely faded, mostly black, yet the operations of the computer are all wroking fine.
What has been damaged? Will leaving it to dry longer help or is it something that is going to need to be replaced.
Thanks in advance.

Hello. This is my first post on these forums.

Getting to the point, I have a Panasonic TV which I have been using as a Secondary Monitor for the past few months, and it has worked perfectly (with an S-video cable). One day I was using it for general reasons and the screen faded to black, and I knew it was on standby. Problem is, I tried everything, but it seemed to stay on standby no matter what. I have tried reconnecting the S-video cable to many places both on PC and Monitor, still same result.

I am using AV3 on the monitor, and am using the Operating System Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

UltraMon doesn't seem to be helping in any way with it, and yes, the monitor is enabled in Display Settings.

I honestly have no idea at all why it just went black one day, other things such as my Xbox and normal TV viewing works perfectly on my Panasonic TV.

Oh great. It still doesn't work.

Hey Panasonic, make a monitor which can be taken out of standby.

I have formatted my laptop, the problem was that I delete all partitions and done a full reinstallation.

The problem is that now I cannot input the OS product key to activate it. I have tried to read the product key and got around 3/4 of the key.

Is there any way to get my product key back? From either sending HP my s/n and p/n serial numbers or contacting Microsoft.

Hi everyone

I think that this is a popular error among win users. turned on the laptop to find not genuine message

I have used many key extractors to no avail.

The unfortunate thing is that my COA sticker is faded.

I have some registry backups, backup files, and toshiba hdd recovery files but i dont know if its possible to extract the key

have run malwarebytes in safemode to find monetizer and tarma PUPs

A:Windows not genuine Error-COA sticker faded

Please post an MGADiag report - without that, we're just guessing in a data-vacuum.

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

I have photographs that were printed on paper. The photos date back to 1948 - 1950. The photos are black and white. However, the photos are faded out or did not print well on the original printing. How can I digitally enhance the photos so the faded out parts are made less severe? I have two scanners, MS Paint. Thank you in advance for your reply.

I have a Brother 6050D Laser printer, which has started several faded vertical bands, these are especially bad when printing black areas, and less noticeable when printing ordinary text. I have changed the toner cartridge and the drum unit. but I am still getting these bands. Does any one have any ideas on how to get rid of them.

The following link shows a photo of how a page looks when printed using the printer

I'm trying to create an image in Illustrator 9.0 and Photoshop 6.0 that will be used to print a t-shirt for a camp. I would like to give the image a "faded look" to make the shirt look a little more trendy (as that is the fad right now). When I say faded...i don't mean just lighter...i mean that I want it to kind of look like some of the image has faded in parts but is darker in others. (It's hard to explain...but if you've seen a shirt from American Eagle or Abercrombie, you probably know what I mean)

Is there an easy way to make this work, or is there a plugin or filter that I could download somewhere for free to create this effect? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

It seems like I post here at least 100 times a day becasue of all of the problems I have, , but the thing is whenever I right click with my mouse the options are always faded and you can only see like 50% of them until you rollver them. And then after I click the option the option just like stays there. The only way to get it off is to right click on the wallpaper of my laptop and click somewhere else on the screen. Here are some shots:

During Click: As you can tell you can barely see the menu

After Click: As you can tell it sticks to the like computer and is over everything when I open up a program

If you need a full desktop screen let me know

I have a maxtech(i know) 19' lcd that has a white ghostlike area around the edge of the screen that goes away after it is on for about 30m-1hr. The monitor is over 3 yrs old. Anyone know why it does this? Is it going bad?

A:White 'faded area' around edge of lcd monitor

Offhand? Given the age; I would first think that the fluorescent tube light used to backlight the screen is beginning to go bad. It starts off a little to dim with the edges worst, just like a fluorescent tube in a ceiling light. Once warmed up it reaches full brightness .
This is fixable, the bulbs are designed to be replaced .

But if it is something more complex like the internal electronics the monitor may be on the way to the junk pile.

I have a Dell 968 printer. I'm coming here for support because you guys will probably be more helpful than them.

The problem is that all pages are coming out with faded, incorrect or 'striped' (on the alignment test sheet it isn't a full thick block) colours. I have replaced both the colour and black cartridges multiple times, but the problem still persists.

For example, here is a picture I tried to print. Here is a scanned copy of the result. Here is also a scanned copy of the alignment page (upside down, I just realised) - taken just after fresh cartridges were put in.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

A:Dell printer - faded/murky colours

It looks like the drivers are confused or something. That's the only thing I can think of (other than hardware failure) that would cause a printer not to print correctly. I'd attempt to update/reinstall your drivers. If that doesn't help, try using the printer on another computer with a fresh driver installation. If it still happens on the other computer then it's probably a hardware failure. You could try having it repaired but you're better off getting a replacement.

You might also want to try the customer service line. Granted they take forever but they've probably seen this issue before and can tie it to a specific problem.
