Hi,
There seems to be more to it than 'save'. Have you worked with this guide?

My Microsoft Word 2010 on my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit OS will not open any .docx or .doc file that I download from the internet (Mozilla Firefox 17, Chrome, and IE). Not from email, my colleges webserver, even other websites.

It WILL open the file if I hit "run" or "Open in word". But if I hit save, or save as, and save it anywhere it wont open and it gives me this error.

Using open and repair does not work. Any help?
It will open files already on my HDD. The files will open on other computers.

Before posting I tried to follow instructions and downloaded DDS to the desktop but when I tried to run it, my computer opened a box asking me what program to use to open/run it.... I could not get it to run.

I have Malewarebytes and Bitdefender but when I try to run those the same problem exists.

It seems any .exe program won't work.

I tried to run in safe mode but that triggered only a blue error screen telling me that windows was shut down because it detected a problem and said to run antivirus.

In the control panel I tried to access add/remove software but it won't allow access.

I have Windows XP.

Don't know where to begin and appreciate your assistance.

I have a problem with IE6.

When I click a file to download, I am prompted with a box asking me if I want to save or open the file. If I click save, the file saves properly and I can then open it. However if I click open, the file does not seem to be created. If it is a .txt file for example, notepad opens up and says that it cannot find the file (the path is something like Temporary Internet
Files/content.ie5/something). The issue does not occur with IE7.

Any ideas ?

Thank you.

I have recently purchased a laptop from eBay and for some reason some .exe files don't want to open. I have tried to download Microsoft Office 2016 from the website, and uTorrent is another one I have tried as well. Whenever they download, it completes with a blank white default icon and they won't open when I try to.

I have run a full scan with malwarebytes and nothing was found. Anyone know how to fix this? I have successfully installed Firefox and Security Essentials too.

A:Can't open some downloaded .exe files

TSF does not support the use of Bit Torrent Clients like UTorrent etc. They consider this a tool to download pirated software, Mention of Torrents or UTorrent or any other Bit Torrent client will get your thread closed and a stiff warning.
That being said, Which Browser are you using? Clear the internet cache. Choose a different Download location. Try a different browser. Do you have any other security Software/Firewall configured?

This is a new problem that has cropped up. Whenever I download a file to my computer, I am unable to open it up to run or install it. I have the problem with .zip files, .PDF files, .exe files, etc. I see the download occurring, and it all seems to be going fine, but when it is done, it is not on my desktop where I have my files saved, and when I right-click on the file in the Download box (where it shows the status of the download), the option to open the file is faded and won't work. What could have happened to my settings to make this happen? Does it mean I have a virus? I have AVG virus protection and it is up to date.

I have a second computer (laptop) that is running Windows 7. I have no problem saving files to that computer, so I can copy them to my Flash drive and move them to the desktop computer, but I'm sunk when I try to get a program like Adobe Acrobat Reader that downloads and installs in one operation..... I can't save the program to bring to the desktop computer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am having problems opening downloaded files from my email only. I don't know why. I use Windows Vista, Firefox and the email server provided at my university.

Basically what happens is this (I've included screen shots where helpful):

I get an email with an attachment and I click download to download it.

Then a window pops up saying that it has no idea what type of file this is but will save it anyway.

I look on my desktop where the file has been saved, and the icon is just a blank sheet of paper.

I double click the icon to open the file and it tells me that it doesn't know what file type this is, so I have to choose a program to open it. I choose the file type that I know this particular file is (in this instance, a spreadsheet file) and it fails to open.

Now, it fails to open for several reasons. Sometimes I'm told it's corrupted, sometimes it's the wrong file type, sometimes it needs to be converted, sometimes it's being used by another program. None of this is ever true. If we go back to the first picture, it's CLEARLY a spreadsheet file and should open in spreadsheet, no? So then why doesn't it do this?!

This happens with Word files all the time for me. I have probably 3 different versions of Word on my computer and all of them fail to open Word files downloaded from my email.

So, what's going on? Is this a problem with Vista, Firefox, or my email server? And how can I fix this?

You cannot have slahes in a file name. Also, the file extension = .sheet

Have the file resent or rename it with .xlsx file ext.

Hi, and thanks in advance for your help.

First, please note that this download problem does not seem to be browser-related. It happened both in Firefox and IE.

When I receive an attachment in an email and click to download it on FF, a FF download window opens up and I see the "progress" of the download happening. This is all normal. But when I click to open in (or try to right click to open off a menu) --- nothing happens. If I click save instead of open --- nothing saved where I've sent it.

Same as above if I click to download a PDF or exe file from a website. (With one strange exception: if I click on a link that instead of opening a pdf file directly, opens a new tab which then, with no further action from me, somehow "opens" a pdf, either in the tab, OR as a stand alone pdf --- appearing in the tray of open programs under the Adobe icon at the bottom of my screen --- which I then can save!)

On IE, the only difference is that once the dialogue box appears asking whether I'd like to save or open, and i click on one or the other, the dialogue box closes, but nothing has been opened or saved.

I run AVG anti-virus (free version), which is up to date, and reports no problems. I run a scan using their PC Analyser, which found some registry errors ---- which i could fix using their PC Tune-up..... except I can't open the download of its exe file!

I also run Zone Alarm's free fire wall product. I have run both these prote... Read more

What browser are you using? Try a different browser like Firefox. Also you can change the download location to a different directory or folder. Have tried to download the same program again? It should list the previous download location so you know where it went. Or you can do a Search for the name of the downloaded file

Hey all,

My dad recently asked me to snatch some videos off of You Tube. They're tributes to fallen firefighters that he was trying to get to take and show around work meetings and what not. I managed to download them with a firefox plug-in (DownloadHelper I believe its called), then I used the Pazera converter to convert them from .flv to .avi as I thought .avi would work in pretty much any media player.

I e-mailed him the videos and he tells me the audio works fine on Windows Media Player, but the associated videos aren't playing (it's instead showing the default kaleidescope swirls). Any idea what went wrong or how I can do this differently so that he can play them on a regular Windows machine at home or work without him having to download anything extra?

Thanks so much for your time.

A:Downloaded .avi files wont play correctly

You are missing a codec that is needed to play the video properly. It should allow you to choose which codec to use.

Quote:

Supported video codecs: XviD, DivX 3, H.264, WMV, MPEG4-FFmpeg, S-Mpeg 4 v. 2, Motion JPEG (MJPEG).

My guess is that to play that video you will either need DivX or XviD...alternatively you could convert them again and put them in WMV format and it would probably work automatically.

HI there

I have only had my laptop 6 months, and I recently got a nasty virus on it that shut everything down. I managed to salvage it and it now works OK, problem is that since the virus I cannot run downloaded exe files. A windows security box pops up and says 'These files can't be opened. Your Internet Security settings prevented one or more files from being opened.'.

The virus I had was a fake antivirus that installed itself on my laptop and stopped task manager and other stuff from working. This is all now fixed and its just this downloading problem.

I have tried changing all security settings to low and this doesn't work. I also tried custom levels and ensured all downloading was enabled. Finally I tried checking it all in the registry by going to Internet Settings and ensuring that 1803 was set to 0 and it was in both local machine and current user.

Can anyone help as I'm really stuck now.

Hello jencarr,

Welcome to SevenForums!

Have you re-scanned your laptop (with Malwarebytes or your AV) if there are still any remnants of the virus?

It's much better to backup your files and then do a repair install (or a fresh, clean install). Such damage has been done to your PC by the virus, making it unstable and restoring your PC's normal, stable and healthy state would surely be very exhausting.

Your temporary OLK folder is probably full up. You need to delete the temporary files in there. Browse to this folder C:\Users\Mischief Muffin\AppData\Local\Temp. Highlight all the files and Delete. Now, that your Temp Directory is empty, you can open attachments in Outlook and be able to save them.

Hi everyone,

Im having a total nightmare with my laptop, Ive had it for about a year and for some reason whenever I tried to download files/applications it would come up "curupt file", after a very long time trying to look for answers, i decided to save all my files and I used system restore and wiped everything off my laptop and restored the laptop to "factory settings".
After doing this I tried to download firefox and then "invalid digital signature" poped up underneath the download, so i ran the file anyway and "curupt file" appeared.
I tried downloading google chrome and the same thing happend, its happens to everything now that i try and download.

I could really do with some help on this as no one seems what I can do, also I was toled to try and download mulwarebytes, but everytime i try and download it the same things happens.

i hope someone can help me.

I would run a disk diagnostic. If you can't download a diagnostic program see if you can find one on a bootable CD that you can get somebody to burn for you. The diagnostic program will vary depending who made your hard drive. First thing to rule out is if the HD if going bad.

I am a novice but am assuming I have or had a bug that altered my hard drive.  I ran AVG and and vaulted anything suggested I also cleared all cookies and cleaned the recycle bin.  Everything seems to be running fine now EXCEPT that anything I try to download or run seems to be disappearing.
I regularly download zip files with pictures for work via YouSentIt.  Now when I download I get the usual dialog box, pick where I want the file to download and it looks like it completes the process.  Then I open my picture file and the download is not there.

Please don't suggest I download a file...because I can't! I've tried so many forums that give links to download and nothing happens.  I even tried in safe mode and still unable to do anything!

A:Solved: files wont open and downloads wont work

Try this fix: EXEFIX

Unzip the fix and extract the .reg file to the desktop. Double-click it to merge it to the registry. Note that you need to be an Administrator to apply this fix.

Reboot the computer.

If the fix only opens as a text file, right-click it and select Open With > Choose Program... Then, select the Registry Editor.

If the Registry Editor is not in the list, browse to C:\WINDOWS and select regedit.

Yesterday when I looked at my computer it was frozen on the "windows is shutting down' screen. I'm assuming it was trying to shut itself down because I did not prompt it to do so.

Today, when I turned on the computer all of my icons on my desktop were highlighted black and when I click on a program to run it a black box appears briefly then closes itself out. Inside the box it says "program to big to fit memory."

I read a few posts on this problem but none seem to be successfully helping me. I was able, after trying mutiple things, to run my virus scanner. The scan completed with nothing found.

Not sure where to go from here. Maybe its not a virus at all, I cant be sure....

Hi,
This is my first post on this site, so hello all!
I've transferred 'My Documents' from my old laptop with XP to W8. However, I can't open any of the files in File Explorer. There are various formats, although most are .rft & .wps. I can understand why I can't open .wps but why not .rft. I even downloaded the new version of OpenOffice but I can't open their files either. Now I've only worked with this W8 for 2 weeks so bear with me. Any help appreciated. robinpe

Does this happen with only .dat files? What about txt files or jpg? It might just be your association for dat files that's damaged.

It would also help to see the title bar of the error message as that can give more clues about the problem.

My wmv files dont open either and I get a message that says ' no program associated, go to folder options and create one' or words to that effect. Tried that but I didn't know what to do when I got there.
I did notice that my file extention had been tampered with ie as shown here " wm v ".
I couldn't get rid of the space so I typed the the file into google without the space and clicked GO and it went to utube and played aok. All the wm v files I've had seemed to be utube so that's all I do.

For info to anyone who has a problem with wmv.

Hi,
I purchased internet security about 3 weeks ago and when I went to install, it said it cant open the exe file/ file system error. I got the online help that comes with it, and allowed them to attempt to do it remotely, but they too could not do it and said I would need to take the computer to be looked at as it had system issues.  I thought at that point I should start restoring and backing up if I was going to run any helpful programs but when I went to do that through the windows 7 help, it came up error then too and wouldn't allow me to do that.  So I download the malware bytes program as I thought it might allow me some access to put the security on, it downloaded it, but not surprisingly would not open it and an error message came up.Then today the computer wouldn't shut down, and I had to pull the cord.
After some looking around on forums I found out about combo fix and this website. I thought, been not very computer savvy, I could get somebody to help with this before I lug this bleeping computer into town... we live in the country. Any help would be appreciated. thank you, Kjmoto

Sometime over the past couple of weeks, I started having a number of files on my C:/ drive which would not open. I wrote another forum and got some advice, and did some studying, and for some I was able to take back permissions and found what looked like a phony user account hidden way down in Documents and Settings.

Today I found close to 2/3 of my files would not display, of the types, htm and html, jpg, png, and doc files. I went to check permissions and the security tab was not under Properties.
I have tried everything: I have re-installed Windows, I have run every virus and adware and spyware scan and repair known, and have constantly cleaned the registry and used HiJack this which did show two programs called Voodoo and Banshee which were not mine.

I have to get back into these files if at all possible. While I have copies of many, I need my earlier dates on the files, because I am afraid someone may be blocking access through hacking or some other seditious maneuver. Many of my files are appearing in green text, some in blue and more in black. The black are more likely to open.

I cannot as of today get to Security to take back ownership, and there is not supposed to be anyone else on my computer which is located at a home office. We connect to comcast through broadband, and hook up 2 computers which are not on a lan but operate independently.

How can I get these files back? What is auditing?
I have a png of what the files look like, but when you click on them, a bl... Read more

So I found an old CD of a game I used to have on my old computer and installed it. The game is Championship Manager 01-02, a very old Soccer thing. Anyway, after unzipping, I click on the file 'cm0102', the Application which starts the game. After double clicking, no program comes up, nothing happens at all except the Windows 'loading' icon pops up before disappearing. I've tried reinstalling and unzipping again, but to no avail.

Any ideas, anyone? I used to love this game.

Ok so i accidentally did a system recovery instead of a restores it asked if i wanted a harsh or a nice recovery. i did the nice recovery because i wanted to keep my files. So after all that i tried to find my files and they were in a backup folder along with the other users files(my wifes) on my computer. Her stuff is working fine and its all there but my files wont open it says access denied and then it said i had 0 folders. Then i tried to change the sharing on the file and it opened it up but i cant access any of the folders inside "my" backup. It says Access Denied. So im annoyed i go to microsoft support online they say to go to My Computer-Tools-Folder Options and view- Then turn off the simple file sharing. Ok so i dont have that option though so wat do i do. i need those files i have but cant access. Theyre there but not accessable.

A:HELP PLEASE!!!My Backup Files wont open.

Hi rudeezee..welcome to TSF,

you need to take ownership of the folder and contents and then give yourself full permissions but it sounds like you have XP Home as you said you do not have the option to turn off simple file sharing so you'll need to follow the steps in the following links whilst in Safe Mode:

Take ownership:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421

Change permissions:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308418

Once you have done it, you can either access the data you need whilst in Safe Mode or reboot to normal Windows mode and you'll have full access.

Hope that help

My pc wont open files on micro SD card.
I formatted the 2 GB micro SD card with my Samsung Steel mobile/cell phone and then with my pc ( in FAT format, it wont allow FAT32 format, I have not tried ex-FAT format ). Then I copied photos from my phone onto micro SD. I can view copied photos in the micro SD on the phone or on my pc via USB cable. When I put micro SD into SD adapter and put it into card reader on pc, I can see it registered as Drive E on ĎMy Computerí. But when I click on it or when I click Ď Open to view filesí option on the pop up menu, I see folders and files with gobbledy gook and cant open them. I make sure that the SD adapter is unlocked. What shall I do?

A:My pc wont open files on micro SD card.

Did you check what extensions those photos have? Are they *.jpg?
What does the instruction book say, do you need software to convert the cell phone photos for the computer?

I could see photos per cable too, but to put them on the computer, software was needed.
Google your model and see what it says.

I have a problem similary to this.
http://www.utteraccess.com/forums/printthread.php?Cat=&Board=81&main=1475820&type=thread

but mines like this!
Once one user opens the .mdb file the .ldb file is created. No other users can then open the .mdb file directly from the shared drive via Windows explorer (apart from the computer that has the network drive on it). HOWEVER, if they open Microsoft Access, then do File, then Open and find and click on the .mde file on the shared drive - they CAN open it. Why is this happening? Is it a problem with the ability to update the .ldb file by the second user? I checked the folder properties on the shared drive and made sure all user groups had all permissions including read, write, etc.

A:backup files when windows xp wont open

You need to either connect the disk to another machine to copy the files off, use a disk imaging utility to save them, or perhaps boot from a Linux live boot disk and copy them off that way.

It helps a lot if you have something like a USB external hard disk to copy them to.

i am running win xp pro. i have office pro 2003 installed with all the latest updates. The problem comes when i try to open a word or excel file from my desktop or even one of my other drives. Meaning just being able to double-click on the document and having it open. When i do this the folder that the document is in wont respond. Then the folder freezes and i must use task manager to close the folder. Keep in mind that i DONT receive any error messages when double clicking the the file.
i can however, go into start >programs >microsoft office > (word or excel) and open the program there, then open the document. but i shouldnt have to do this.
i have tried to run the repair to no avail. i have uninstalled and then reinstalled office with no luck. Norton windoc found problems (missing files) with my .net framework, so i uninstalled and then reinstalled that. That fixed the .net missing files but not my office problem.

Help me please cuz this has a tendency to be very frustrating!!!!! Tendency meaning every time i try to use the program.

I loaded pnpisa in order to use soundblaster 16 to a NT server with sp 6 that had been working flawlessly. After loading it, NT will not open multiple excel files and wont open Microsoft Works locally and on the network.

Tried so far:
removed sound card
uninstalled driver
removed device from multimedia
disabled pnp in bios

backed up registry, deleted registry subkey assoc. with creative labs (ctl)

ran virus software (okay)
checked cooling (okay)
scan disk / defrag

copied excel files to disk and tried on another machine
and they open fine

reloaded sp 6a
tried last good configuration

Does anyone have suggestions, at this point; I dont care to get the sound card working; just need to be able to open excel files again and use MS works as before. Thanks for the help!

Have you tried to reinstall Excel and Works? If you have already tried that, do you have an image backup [from before installing the sound card] that you can install?

I have an FTP internally that is used to host PDF & HTML files. Previously all users could log onto this FTP site and double click on any file content to have it open within the default browser. We use FTP in explorer view so each user
can set their terminals to save their passwords, hence they log straight into their root folder on the FTP - if we use the FTP list view in the browser this doesnt happen, meaning user 9999 has a long way to scroll to find their documents!

This has always worked absolutely fine until IE10 has been installed, now any user with IE10 cant open files straight from the FTP via the Explorer view. The file doesnt download, the destination file ends up at 0KB so just doesnt open in the
browser. Roll back to IE9 fixes the problem. Using Chrome as the default browser fixes the problem. Using the FTP list view also works fine (however we cant use this since it wont default to users root folder that they have access to)

Ive attempted everything i can think of without luck, its looking like we're going to have to block IE10 or switch to Chrome. Basically opening files from any FTP site (have tested others) in explorer view with IE10 installed just isnt working.
You can however copy the document to the local machine then open ok..

Any ideas, what am i missing here!?
Cheers!!!

I've searched around for some fixes to this, but everything I try and do seems to require me to open an exe file, which I can no longer do. I had tried to open an .exe file and was prompted to choose a file to open it with. The file did not open, and all .exe files began to associate themselves with the program I tried to open the original file with, as now all .exe files display the same graphic icon. I had a mess of a time getting command prompt open, only being able to do so by restarting in safe mode or shift+right clicking a folder. In there, I copied regedit.exe to regedit.com but it seems I can't even open regedit.com I'll click to open the icon, then I'll be prompted for authorization to open the file, but nothing will open. Every time I attempt to open a .exe file I am prompted "Error in command line" and must close. When opening the task manager, I can no longer ask for all user processes to be displayed. I've attempted to install some programs, such as hijack this, but as their installer is in .exe format, there's no such luck. Any ideas on what could be causing this and what I'll need to do to fix it? With an error like this, the PC is more or less a tableweight.

A:.EXE files wont open- Error in command line

Repair .exe files
Download the zip here Vista exe fix (Right click here and select Save as...)
Unzip the fix and extract the .REG file to the Desktop. Right-click the REG file and choose Merge. Note that you need to be an administrator to apply these fixes.
It will repair your exe file association in the registry.
If you are sucessful with the above instructions you should now be able to post a Hijackthis log. Please include it in your next reply

so i was trying to update my motherboard drivers and it kept saying i had to get rid of the existing drivers, even when i did that it still wouldnt install the new on and would say the same thing. so i deleted all the files starting with "nv" out of my system32 folder, as was recommended by someone, then i rebooted and tried to reinstall the drivers. same thing, didnt work, so i deleted them again, then i installed the drivers before rebooting. success! i rebooted after that, upon reboot i get a black screen that says something along the lines of "nvatabus.sys missing or corrupt" so i do the recovery cd to repair it and start over, well i dont think it repaired, i thing it just recovered to the original, but i noticed when i searched for my old stuff, i can find everything, but only when i search it, it says its there, but it isnt and i cant open it when i click on it from the search area cause it says "windows.0\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.5072\mscorwks.dll could not be loaded"

so are these files on my computer still or whats the deal? can i open them? theyre obviously taking up the space.

My nephew came to my house today asking to fix his laptop for him, but this is way above my head, there is so much wrong I dont even know where to start.

First of all dds.com does not work on his laptop, at first it didn't open so I tried with cmd.
With cmd it did work but it does not create the text files.

His complaint was that GTA wouldn't start anymore and his microsoft office wouldn't start anymore.
I started with the GTA, My guess is that it was a driver issue, the error was:
GTA cannot find audio card installed. (windows sounds do work

So I tried to download the drivers on his laptop(now he mentions IE does not start anymore) Chrome, gives a failed to download message whenever I try to download something.
I downloaded it on my computer, install didn't work.
I tried opening dxdiag, didn't work. as a sollution I found I had to use exefix.reg.
This gave an error again. To fix this I had to update my dirextX. the install does not work.

So at this point I'm scratching my eyeballs out.

If you have any idea what would cause this, any help would be much appreciated.

I'm sure my question is answered somewhere below but i don't know anything about computers and have no idea what everyone is talking about sorry. My desktop icons do not work i have to select every program from a list. I cannot access my add or remove programs list either. I read those are executable files or something along those lines and those should open but they do not. I did previously have a trojan that my virus software was able to remove, is this the "tangible" damage it did? If anybody has any kind of answers on what started it and more importantly how i can fix it. Any help will be greatly appreciated thank you very much.

I guess I don't understand.

Your title says one thing, your post says another.

What do you mean by "open"? What files can you not access on the drive in question?

Hi abraham2nd,

Just curious. Where did you get Windows 7 Ultimate X64 from? If it is not genuine and downloaded from a surreptitious site, it could already have been loaded with bucketful of malware.

Recently I am unable to open the Store app. After a small Windows 10 update, I have been unable to access the store. When I open the start menu and click the icon, it is unresponsive. Also when I go through my apps, it wont open when clicked there. I even had it pinned to my toolbar and the icon disappeared but left space and when I clicked there, I got an error message. Also, as I was typing this, my toolbar began being difficult. Certain things like the start icon, the calculator icon, or the internet explorer icon wont open when clicked. But the google chrome and the file explorer icons work well. I am not sure if there is a way for me to update the Store app or get it to launch through a browser or do I have to wait till another Windows 10 update to fix my problem.

Thank you for any advice or help in advance.

Hello, Please help me. I have Windows 2000 Professional. I'm pretty new to all this as I have only had a computer for about a week. I got some adware threats detected by Norton Antivirus 2004 and have done a lot of reading up and I am now tring to delete them.

One of the removal instructions provided by Norton promps me to delete a file in C:\Winnt\Downloaded Program Files but when I go to view this folder it looks like there are no files inside. Now, I know there are files in there as Norton Antivirus has picked up one in there and when I view the proporties for that folder it states there are 12 files inside but when I view the folder with Windows Explorer it appears empty!

I've gone into folder option and changed the settings so it shows hidden files and hidden system files yet this still doesn't let me view the files in this folder. How can I delete this file if I am unable to view it?

If anyone can point me to a turorial that explains this or explain it to me I would really appreciate this.

Please help a n00b.

Cheers, Luke.

A:Unable to view files in C:\Winnt\Downloaded Program Files

I'm assuming you have done this to Show hidden files and folders:
Go to Control Panel/Folder Options/View and select "Show hidden files and folders"

Also, place a check in "Display the contents of system folders"
And,uncheck "Hide protected operating system files(Recommended)"

If the above doesn't work try this:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced.
Create the REG_DWORD ShowSuperHidden (if it doesn't already exist) Set the value to 1, click OK, and close the Registry editor

Yesturday my vista was working great, and on the screen as i went to shut it down said "updating files do not shut down computer 3/3 100%" but it stayed like that for 4 hours, so i turn it off manualy once i turned it back on the next day it asked me for my password i put it in and as it was loading it was vey slow and would take 5-6 minutes for programs to load up.

Also when i go to click on like my internet it dont work, not even my games work, they try to load then freeze. So i did a scan on it and its still having this problem. After i got frustrated i went to shut it down again and it says "logging off" but stays like that for hours, so i have to manualy turn it off. Now with internet issue, it works in safe mode with connection, but not in my normal screen. WHY IS THIS DOING THIS?

I am also dealing with an issue involving DRM on my computer in case that could be related to this problem. Please let me know any suggestions on how to fix this thanks in advance.

whenever i download anything from the internet and when i open it .it says me to accept.i accept.then a shield like symbol appears on the task bar and when i click it its gone.plz help

A:cant open anything that is downloaded

Koushal,

I'm afraid that isn't very clear which is probably why you did not receive an answer. But it sounds like one of two things is possibly happening... either the file you have downloaded and are trying to open is being blocked by your anti-virus, or by your firewall. Or if by "open" you mean you are trying to install it, it could be you don't have admin rights to install, so it's a Windows UAC 'shield' you see.

To increase your chances of getting help, I would suggest taking a screenshot of the 'shield' if it sticks long enough, or of the msg you see right before the shield appears.
