Canon printer prints faded pictures from photo gallery

Q: Canon printer prints faded pictures from photo gallery

I never had this problem till I upgraded to Windows 7. Now every time I print pictures from the photo gallery, they come out faded. I just installed new cartridges, and on my other XP Tablet PC, the prints come out perfect. There is only one driver, and I'm sure it installed correctly, but I could try reinstalling it. I have seen others online with the same issue, but I could not find a true answer.

Hello,

I have a Brother 6050D Laser printer, which has started several faded vertical bands, these are especially bad when printing black areas, and less noticeable when printing ordinary text. I have changed the toner cartridge and the drum unit. but I am still getting these bands. Does any one have any ideas on how to get rid of them.

The following link shows a photo of how a page looks when printed using the printer http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6414566/printer.JPG

In Windows Photo Gallery pictures look fine. Go to fix OK. Close or print window opens saying "An error is preventing photo gallery from saving this picture." After a series of close window click print picture is in white & black. If I select other printers pictures go to color. In Kodak EasyShare Software same pictures
all prints show picture in color. Can I correct this error? One Note: In EasyShare if you go to add pictures all pictures from Photo Gallery have an arrow pointing into a bowl in right hand corner. Is this part of the save problem & do you want to remove this if so how?

When I try to order prints online from Live Photo Gallery (Print menu, Order Prints) it says " No printing companies found in your area". This happens on two Windows 7 systems. It works correctly on a Vista machine. Any ideas how to fix it?

A:Live Photo Gallery - order prints doesn't work

Update:
I booted into Vista on the same machine where the "Order Prints" works correctly. I exported the registry keys associated with the logged in user. I edited the user string to correspond with the Windows 7 user in the .reg file and imported the keys into the Windows 7 registry. When I try to order prints using Live Photo Gallery the list of providers is available and it works as it should. As soon as I close the wizard the registry keys are deleted and it no longer works. I can merge the keys again and it will work again. Any ideas why it can't populate the provider list on it's own and why it deletes the keys upon exiting the wizard?

We love our Canon MP600 and things have been fine with it up until recently. However NOW we are getting VERTICAL lines running from top to bottom all the way across the page and interestingly they seem to be evenly spaced about 1/4" apart all the way across. They look like pin stripes, like the ink is missing in the lines and they also seem to be going ONLY thru darker colors like Browns, but not thru silvers or blues or medium tones and shades. We've run thru it's diagnostics and everything appears normal including the test sheets. Any ideas or suggestions? Appreciate your help!

Hi. I'm not sure if this is the right forum. Let me know if this isn't right forum. I wanted to ask everyone something about my pictures in photo gallery. When I view pictures, the ones that are like bright sunny day, most pix seems to look fine. Most of the photos looks like they are color book. Can't explain it. It just don't look like a picture. When I print the photo or use it in movie maker to put on DVD. They look great. About a month ago I bought a new monitor. I thought the monitor was doing this. Before replacing the monitor it was a lot worse. I don't know if i clean it the wrong way. I now know to clean the lcd with it being off and computer too. I didn't do that before. Didn't know if static got the old monitor and send to my graphic card or video card. I'm not a computer expert. still learning.I like to know what to check for. Any help? Thanks and Have a great day. What is the brand and model of your computer, and the brand and model of your graphics card? Or do you have on-board graphics. The issues you discuss are usually related to lower quality graphics cards combined with the softrware used to view and edit the photos. You might want to consider something like Adobe Elements 5.0 (goor price) or Adobe Elements 6.0 (big price jump with little improvement over 5.0)

When adding digital photos to my PC with OS Vista 64, should I import them to the Pictures Folder or Photo Gallery? It seems both have slightly different functions but it is difficult to determine which is the intended photo management tool. If anyone can summarize the best uses of each, that would be terrific. I would like to decide on one and not keep jumping back and forth. Thanks for any comments.

Having the same trouble - Windows photo gallery, select a scanned document or picture, click e-mail, click attach in the dialog box - it then appears to compress photo or scanned document and then nothing happens. It used to open an e-mail in Microsoft Outlook and attach the scanned document or photograph. I have reset twice Microsoft outlook as my default program but still nothing happens. I have tried opening outlook first but if i go through outlook and explorer to find the scanned document it attaches it as a huge 80 MB file.

Hi sparkync,
Once you have e-mailed them to yourself click on the attachments and choose Save which will automatically put them into Pictures. If you are using Windows Photo Gallery for the first time ... upon opening it it will ask you if you want to transfer your pictures inwhich case you say ... yes.

I just started using Power Point, and it will only import pictures from the Photo Gallery in Vista. If I copy an image (let's say with "control C") from a web page or a Word document sometimes I can't save them in the Photo Gallery and sometimes I can. What is the correct procedure for saving an image off the net or from a Word document into my Photo Gallery?

A:adding pictures from internet to photo gallery

Hi, Thomas Lee, and welcome to the forums.

First of all, you have to realize that there are some images on the Internet that are copyrighted and do not allow you to copy them manually. However, usually the easiest way is to right click the image and use "Save Image (As)" in your browser and then select where you want to save them.

From Word documents, it may be a bit harder because if the image is embedded it may not be able to extract it.

However, Vista also has a snipping tool so you can make an image of an image and save *that8 as well.

My HP Photo Essentials Program stop working. Microsoft advised that I
remove Photo Essentials which I did. I then went to my Windows Photo Gallery
and found that I had as many as 17 duplicate copies of all my photos. It is now
down to 5--don't ask me why. If I remove just one copy to the recycle bin it also removed the original copy from "My Pictures".
1. Can anyone tell me why this happened?
2. Is there a way that I can remove these pictures from my photo gallery
without removing the picture from the "My Picture file?
I wish you all a happy new year and mine will also be happy if any one can
give me some help with this frustrating problem. Thanks

A:Duplicate pictures in Windows Photo Gallery

Don't think I can help but I thought that when you look at the photo's in Windows Photo Gallery they are just showing what is in your Pictures folder. Vista doesn't use the "My" in front of the folders anymore, so I would have thought that if you delete them from the Gallery you are deleting them from the Picture folder.
Those are my thoughts but I'd wait and see what the experts have to say when they see your post.

Hi,
The JPEG files/pictures that I scanned in from slides on my older XP computer won't open under my newer computer running Windows Photo Gallery. In fact it hangs the computer when I try to read or open the file. I am able to read files from a CD that I created from a digital camera on the older computer. Therefore I know that it isn't the old CD drive that is incompatible with the new system. The CDs read fine on the older computer. When I try to import the pictures it says no new pictures or videos are found on this device. Please send me some words of wisdom and know how.
Thanx

A:Windows Photo Gallery opening AUTORUN.INF Instead of pictures

If the CD is supposed to contain only pictures, there would be no autorun.inf file on it. Autorun, inf is used to automatically start a program on the CD when you insert a CD. Use notepad to open that autorun.inf to see what program it wants to run.

Hi,

I'm having a weird problem that showed up after I installed my new Samsung SyncMaster 2220wm monitor: Every photo I open now shows with a yellow tint. Even the background of the program isn't grey anymore, and is more yellowish.

I've tried the solution in an article on Microsoft's site, but it didn't work.

Other sites recommend deleting all colors profiles, but I'm not sure if that's safe. Also, some sites say I should use the vista bundled sRGB IEC61966-2.1 color profile, but I can't find it on the list.

Any ideas?

Your help is much appreciated

Hello all,
I noticed about a month ago that sometimes when I wanted look at my pictures it would take a long time for windows photo gallery to open up. I thought my system was just running slow because it only happened in folders with big picture files. Now I can?t open any pictures with WPG and the program itself won?t open when I try to access it from the Programs folder. I can still access my pictures with other programs like IfranView or Adobe and I can edit them with Paint, so I?m pretty sure my pictures are ok. I think its with WPG itself.
I?ve also noticed that when I click on a picture to open it or even open a folder full of pictures a grey loading bar will appear in the file path near the top of the window. Eventually it will reach the end but then nothing happens. I?ve also noticed that sometimes the folder won?t display the thumbnails for some of the pics even after it has been open for several minutes. The other thumbnails will show up right away.
This leads me to think the problem may have something to do with how my system is searching or storing my files. However, since I can?t even open WPG I think this might be the real culprit. I did a little searching already and some people said they had a similar problem because they had a bad file type like a favorite inside. But I?ve moved each file one at a time into new folders and still have the problem. I?m thinking this is a software problem but here are my specs just in case. Thanks for reading.

Hi TheGreatGazoo,

Welcome to the forum.

It really just depends on what features are more useful to you. It seems that Windows Live Photo Gallery will work seamlessly with Live Spaces.

You can compare the features from the two at these links to see which one you like better.

Hi, I bought a Canon iP4900 printer recently, mainly to print labels on inkjet printable CDrs. After an initial issue with using Nero Cover Designer, which resulted in the printer thinking that an 80mm mini CDr was in fact a 120mm standard CDr (it appeared to ignore the size given) which ended up with it printing over the CD tray, I settled down to use the limited software, Canon Easy Photo Print EX instead.

To print my 80mm mini CDrs I created some text in Indesign at the correct size, saved them as image files and imported them into Easy Photo Print EX. This worked fine and when I printed out the CDs the text appeared at the correct size.

Then I loaded the same image files into the larger 120mm standard CD template, so I could create some CDs for friends who could not use the mini CD format. When I printed these CDs out, the image had been automatically scaled to fit the larger CD, without any option to remove this. The image size control in Easy Photo Print EX only controls the crop around the image, not the scale or size of the image involved. It appears to scale the images, ignoring the original size. If I print the images of the text out on paper, they appear the same size as on the 80mm mini CDs.

I'm very confused by this. The software is not very good, but no other software I've used, Nero included, seems to work with this printer. I cannot understand why it is upscaling an image automatically when placed on the larger CD template.

At the moment it means... Read more

I have Windows Vista Home Premium on my laptop. Fairly new to computers, but in the last 2 years I have loaded photos from a digital camera, and also from a scanner. I have successfully emailed some of them. Yesterday, when trying to get the full knowledge about how to use the Photo Gallery, I realised that I have Windows Photo Gallery, and also Windows Live Photo Gallery installed. It seems that both can be used without any problem. However, when I have been in 'Live Gallery' a message will appear that '.... Live Gallery has stopped working.' followed by a prompt- should I report this to help with a repair, which I always do;then another prompt to close the programme. Next time I use Live Gallery everything is fine, then eventually the same prompts again appear.
Am I doing something incorrectly ? From what I have gathered trawling around here, the Live Gallery has extra features not found in Photo Gallery.
Thanks for any forthcoming simple guidance and explanations.

Hi All, Just discovered a new problem after installing SP1.
I have a Canon i9950 inkjet printer. It's an A3 photo printer and has produced superb prints since I got my new PC with Vista 64 HP about 6 months ago.
I went to make some prints yesterday and have wasted about 10 sheets of expensive photo paper.
All my pics came out predominantly pink, very pink.
Every time I switch the printer on Vista recognizes it as new hardware, searches for a driver and installs it.
I don't seem able to get round this.
I have about 5 different software apps to print from and tried them all- Photoshop, Lightroom, Canon DPP etc.
All produce pink pics. Some, like Picasa report printer offline and won't print at all.

Could anyone can help me with this? Cheers, John

A:Canon prints pink after SP1

It gets worse. Just typed a load of stuff for work tomorrow and tried to print it and I can't. I just get "printer not responding" or "printer offline".
When I switch it on Vista treats it like new hardware, spends a bit of time finding and installing a driver, lets me know it's succeeded and then "not responding"
New drivers from Canon site won't install. This thing worked perfectly before SP1. John

My Win 7 computer is new, but my Canon iP4300 is several years old. Connection is via USB .

When I print, either on my new computer or on my wife's older laptop, the printer prints just fine. It will do multiple pages, back-to-back, photos, etc., but the queue will not clear. In order to print a second item I first have to go in and manually click "cancel printing". Then the second item will print. This has not been a problem previously. I don't know if the problem is related to Win7, or if the iP4300 just 'went bad'. I have installed the latest 64 bit driver from Canon. The printer is wired to my computer; access from my wife's laptop is via a wireless network.

Any suggestions or ideas anyone can offer would be appreciated.

TO CLARIFY: Most of the other threads involve a system that got hung up once, or one that wouldn't clear the queue even if 'cancel' was clicked. . I CAN clear the queue, but I have to do it by clicking on "cancel printing" after the page prints. This works every time, but it's annoying to have to do.

Here's my latest attempted 'solution': I went into printer properties and unchecked the "Enable bidirectional support". The result: When I now try to print, I get the error warning to 'Enable bidirectional support', but the printing works just fine. The printer sounds just like it did before -- I expected it to print more slowly, but there doesn't seem to be any difference in speed. And, lo and behold, the qu... Read more

A:Canon iP4300 prints OK, but queue won't clear

Bobwski - might your printer preferences default be set to always queue two jobs and to queue them separately?

Try changing printer Properties, Advanced (tab), Spool to "Print directly to printer". Do you get two copies printed? (They won't show in the queue because of that changed setting.)

Also make sure "Keep printed documents" is NOT checked. If in your printer's queue the Status is "Printed" it might be because "Keep..." is set. It's there so you do not have to open the app that created the print job if you need to reprint it. Just select it in the queue and right-click "Restart" it.

My all-in-one printer Lexmark x1180 makes lousy photo prints. I have done everything I could to check, calibrate and clean the cartridges but nothing helps. I must have used up several cartridges just on the test printing. The pics are dull in colour and also there are very marked vertical grey stripes all over the pic. Anyone know what "normal" settings are on what they at Lexmark call A B C and D?

I am using an Epson C 84 printer with DuraBrite ink (Epson's brand only). Is there a paper that will give me a glossy photo finish similar to that obtained from having the prints done at a digital photo shop. I have used glossy photo paper but somehow the finished product is never as glossy as when I have the prints made at a photo shop or Wal Mart. Is this a function of the quality of the printer, the paper, the ink or all three?

Thanks in advance for any help,

I have an Athlon 900, Windows 98se and a HP DeskJet 930C.
I am having a problem copying off the web. It's not a constant thing but very frustrating. There will be several pages of text with drawn diagrams mixed in with the text. It copys the text perfectly but leaves a blank space where the drawing should be.

Is there some special setting for this or is there something wrong with my printer?

A:Prints text, no pictures

First check that your page encoding is set to unicode. Do this from view / encoding in the IE manu bar.

If that doesn't make a difference check your printing preferences. Click file / print / then preferences (or may be properties depending on the exact printer you have). Check that it is set to print graphics as well as text. This will probably be in the advanced options.

BTW you do have images displayed on the screen don't you?

Hi,

Last night I reinstalled WXP. During the installation (from an original WXP CD while connected to the Net), I received 20 to 30 error messages saying that several files could not be located, a window from which I could browse for the files, and the opportunity to go ahead with the install anyway even though WXP may not work properly w/o the files). Since I could not locate the files, I proceeded with the install.

When I log on to WXP now, I get a window asking me to insert the appropriate Photo Gallery disc so the software can install. I have to cancel out of this 2-3 times and eventually it goes away and WXP seems to work okay.

I have never had Photo Gallery and cannot be bothered with it at this point.

Any ideas as to how I can suppress these windows?

Thanks,

Bill

Why do you say " without success ? "
Was there an error message during installing Windows Essentials ?
When you started downloading Windows Essentials, you should be prompted to install a Netframework first. Did you allow it to be installed ? You do need that installed first.
Did you go to All apps > look for Phot Gallery under Alphabet P ?

I'm not sure where to post this. I have Vista. As of two days ago, I was able to view movies from my Kodak digital camera in Windows Photo Gallery. It doesn't work anymore. The extension is .mov. The photos can be viewed in HP Quick Play, but it's a pain to look at photos in one app and movies in another. I tried to make Photo Gallery the default, but the s/w won't show the movies. In those 2 days, I loaded an app (VLC Media Player) trying to resolve another .avi issue. I noticed that these movie files were showing up as VLC files. I uninstalled the s/w and now I'm stuck. Any ideas? Thanks.

A:Photo Gallery

Hi Sharyn and welcome to TSF.

When you installed VLC it would have automatically become the default application for the .mov extension and most other movie formats as well as MP3's. During the install of VLC it does ask you if you wish to associate certain file types with VLC. Personally I use VLC for all my movies except for bluray, and for that I use CyberLink.

If you wish to view your images in Windows Photo Gallery then go Start>and type Default Programs in to the search box at the bottom. Click on the second item 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program'. It will then load all the file formats available to you. Scroll down to .jpg and left click it to highlight it. Click 'Change Program' at the top and then in the window that opens click on Windows Photo Viewer and then OK. (you may wish to do the same with PNG, BMP & GIF files) This will make Windows Photo Viewer the default application.
Personally I use Windows Photo Viewer for all my images and VLC for all my films.

I think that is what you were asking for? If not, just let me know and we will try something else.

All I have are the Pre-installed CD-Roms that came with the PC.

Hello
I used to use this feature to import and edit my photos but it is full of video and photos. When I first tried to remove them it said it needed admin privileges so I did that.
Then it said I needed permission from Trusted Installer
Should I leave all of these or can I remove them so I have room to work on my photos and videos. There must be hundreds of default photos and videos in there.
Can it be done or should it be done and if so, how do I do it?
Thank you

1) Assuming you're running Vista, right? 32bit or 64bit, and which version?

2) is this 100% reproducible? (IOW does this happen every tie you try to delete a pic?)

3) More importantly, does this happen with *every* picture?

4) Does this happen anywhere else also (Documents, Downloads, etc)?

5) Never use your email address as a login, or post your email address in a forum - hackers out in the world and spammers and other sorts of undesirable characters always are trolling through websites to find email addresses to sell as part of large lists to companies that spam, and even worse are the hackers that use your email address to try to infect your machine.

Two things to try: If you have anti-virus software, disable it, uninstall the cannon stuff. Reboot (be sure av is still disabled), and reinstall. Then reenable av, restart for good measure.

Another suggestion from Canon, though not apparently EXACTLY your issue:

Hello SimplyE, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Without knowing the exact error messages you may be getting, you might try running a sfc/ scannow command for now to see if it can find and fix any bad system files that may be the cause of your problem.

If that does not help, then you can do a System Restore using a restore point dated before this problem to try and fix it.

Hope this helps,

To put an icon on your Start menu, click Start/All Programs, right click on the program you want and click 'Pin to Start Menu'
To put an icon on your Desktop, right click on the program and click on 'Send To' Desktop (create shortcut)'.
