Outlook VB code for enabling "Request a read receipt" in mail message

Q: Outlook VB code for enabling "Request a read receipt" in mail message

Hi,

In the options of a new mail message, you can request a read receipt. I would like to create a button with this VB code behind.

I tried the following code, but something is missing. Who can help me out?

Sub Enable_Tracking()

Dim e1 As Outlook.MailItem
e1.ReadReceiptRequested = True

End Sub

Thanks in advance

I recently received an e-mail that requested a "READ RECIEPT" response via an on-screen
message. I elected to send the response but when I pressed send/receive I got an error
message. However the instruction to send the message still seems to exist and EVERY time
I press send/receive my PC tries to send this message and fails EVERY time.
I have deleted the original message but no change.
In the Outlook Send/Receive Progress box the following information appears:-
Connection to server was interrupted
Error No 0x800CCC0F
Address not verified
Contact ISP

I have pressed Cancel All in this box but no change

Does anyone know how to stop my PC trying to send this message?

When Outlook Express is opened, every e-mail that was sent "return reciept requested" causes Outlook Express to try to send a return receipt, which then fails resulting in an error message.

OE ignores all changes to the "return receipt" functions and continues to try to send them even before they are opened; when the mouse hovers over the particular e-mail.

A recent malware infection (which has been removed) caused a change in the registry and turned off Task Manager (which has been corrected). I suspect the problem with OE is also a registry issue, but cannot Google any information on this specific function or issue.

Two questions:

1. Is there a registry entry that controls the fuction of OE's "return receipt" function ?

2. If OE is uninstalled & reinstalled, will the stored e-mails be lost ?

An aggravating factor is that sbcglobal does not have a configuration setting to prevent duplicate e-mails from being downloaded and a recent change to the e-mail account by sbcglobal has resulted in the messages being duplicated 2 and 3 times in OE, and it is attempting to download another 4000 ( ! ) more, which will also all be duplicates.

This "return receipt" problem is preventing the ability to delete the duplicate & unwanted e-mails, so OE's functionality is reduced to nil.

Also, is there a static limit to the number of messages that OE can store & manage ?

IF ANYONE HAD EVER ENCOUNTERED THE FOLLOWING SITUATION, PLEASE GIVE ME A HAND. WILL APPRECIATE.

I use the "Outlook Express" for my email for years, no problem.
I had been using ISP for my email server and have my own email account set up, so far so good.
I had checked the box "delete from mail server after deleting from trash" and it works out just good. This is because, no need to log-on the mail server each time to clean up the read emails by hand, this way could release enough space for receiving email. Is because the ISP charge on over-quota space for emails, or just will block excess emails over the allowed space.
The problem started, when a friend told me could set the email folder away from the hard-drive C, I set it as per his suggestion. Then, the "auto-cleaning function" stopped performing.
I asked the ISP and was told because "Outlook Express" is designed by Mircosoft Inc. so they could not help.
Then, I set it back to the "defaulted folder", but the function could not be recovered.
This is quite annoying that I have to log-on the email server and clean up the emails daily by hand.

Outlook 2003:I'm a massive fan of outlooks Search folders, I receive in excess of 400 emails per day, of which approximately 250 need my attention, even if to reply back and give someone an answer.

A problem I find is that I am so busy with my emails, I often need to clean out my inbox. I do this by setting up basic search folders such as "all emails from my team which are in my inbox only" or "any email sent to me which was part of a distribution list in my inbox only" etc...

This is great for filtering my mail and I would like to create a rule as such:

"All mail within my inbox which has been either replied to forwarded by myself".

I can't seem to find any options and I'm hoping an Outlook guru can help

If you don't know the answer, can you try googling it for me to see if you can find anything, loads of heads are better one...

Thanks in advance

I'm trying to remove the read-only restriction from a folder (specifically, my World of Warcraft folder), and it re-enables when I finish, for no reason. I've already edited the Owner tab to apply to my username, but it still won't stay unchecked. What do I do?

A:"Read-Only" keeps re-enabling on its own

I'm having the same problem, Phaktr. Did you recently install Vista SP2? I think SP2 may have done this to me, and perhaps you as well. It's probably some intentional "feature" that was either poorly explained or something along those lines that is above both of our heads... (Maybe another user might have some suggestions?)

Since the problem just started immediately after I installed SP2, I might downgrade back to SP1. (I wouldn't recommend to you, but if it works, please let me know...) I'm not especially happy to try that option, but I think that there is a good chance it will work. I'm too frustrated to care about any of the technical reasons as to why MS decided to mess with my file structure... If anyone knows how to fix/disable the "feature" that is automatically re-enabling the read-only attribute on everything, I'd love to know...

I tried taking ownership as well, but that only partially worked. My files seem to show no read-only attribute now when I look at their properties individually in windows explorer, and the command line 'attrib' shows no read only attribute on both files and folders. But when I look at a folder in explorer, the read-only attribute is filled-in... It's not checked (everything is read-only), just filled-in (some things are read-only). It must be the folder itself, since none of the files inside it are read-only... But then why would attrib not report this? Like I said, maybe it's something that isn't user-friendly...

I have Windows Live Mail set to automatically request read receipts. Recently I have been getting such receipts even when the recipient selects No in response to the request! The wording of the receipt is "Your message to ...was read on..." If the recipient selects Yes, I get two receipts, one worded as just described and one saying "This is a receipt for the email message you sent to.... This receipt verifies that the message has been displayed on the recipient's computer..."
Can anyone explain the reason behind this rather odd situation, please?

In the attachment line , it gives something like " Read_bladdy blah.txt(184 bytes)"

This receipt verifies that the message has been displayed on the recipient's computer at 09/04/2012 22:09
Can anyone shed any light on why I am getting an attached Notepad file which is unreadable on some replies from some people ? Can they be using , say , Outlook as their email system ?

Actually this is more than errors in the Services Console Panel. I have several errors with my fresh install of Windows 8 Pro which I have never experienced before. What also boggles me with all this is that my user account is set as Administrator as usual, but still Windows behaves as it isn't.

In the Services Console Panel it says with almost all of the services <Failed to Read Description. Error Code: 2 >. Please see the attached image.

Second I am not able to rename folders in Program Files folder, not able to delete files in sub folders of Program Files, such as old log files, not able to turn off Windows Firewall, not able to disable Network adapter, not able to access and update internet time, and not able to access "Change your account name" and so on in User Accounts.

Deleting folders and files in Program Files I was able to solve by running Command Prompt as admin.

With internet time I receive the message box "Date and Time": "Unable to continue - You do not have permission to perform this task. Please contact..." and so on.

With trying to disable the network adapter I get the message "Error Disabling Connection" - "It is not possible to disable the connection at this time. This connection may be using one or more protocols that do not support Plug-and-Play,..." and so on.

Hi all,

BSOD once tonight. It happened one other time last week but everything on Windows still functioned normally after I restarted. Then it happened again tonight. I restarted and when the start-up 'dos' -like screen comes up, I also had a glimpse of a message in red type that mentioned something about a 'degraded drive' and something about 'completeness...'. Then the screen flipped and asked me to go in safe mode etc. But I chose to start normally and Windows started fine.

Hope someone can help me out. I'm not that fluent in computer technology/software these days. Thanks for this forum!

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

According to your personal specs, this could be an XP-64 system.

The problem is XP systems are already not well-supported by hardware manufacture drivers, such as Pioneer, and 64-bit versions were never well-supported at all. As I see it, you can

(a) patiently wait until Pioneer get round to it
(b) forget Pioneer, use other DVD access software
(c) revert to XP-pro 32 bit
(d) upgrade to Vista-64 (I can't believe I said that, I would never do it myself !!)

Hi All,

This defeats the purpose for me, and actually makes it harder (I use multiple folders, so I hunt through each to find the new message). What am I missing, or is this a glitch? I just want it to be marked as read, and NOT show the tray icon.

Hi -

Hoping you can help me. I need to set up an Outlook 2007 rule for marking all incoming mail as read, but it must reside on the exchange server.

The issue is that we need to ensure that all files that are incoming to this particular mailbox are marked as read to prevent them from repeatedly ftp'ing a file to an application server. This is an unmanned mailbox. I've read several forums that say the "Mark as Read" rule can only be set up client side.

Anyone know if that is correct? Or... have any suggestions?

Hi,

This is my first posting and am not sure if this is the place for it.

I run Mozilla Thunderbird on both my PC and my USB handy Mem. Most of the time I just use the USB instalation. Yesterday I had been using it with no problem then later in the day I opened it up again and got the error message : "Could not connect to mail server ..... the connection was refused."

I tried using the desk top version and that was no problem.

I have done virus checks, malware checks etc. Nothing showed up.
I run the Comodo security S/W; firewall, mem.firewall, BOC anti malware and anti virus. I also regularly clean and defrag my drives.

Today in trying to look at the problem I found that my task manager was disabled by the administrator, I am admin and I had not done so. I found a prog. at www.dougknox.com which repaired that problem.

I have looked through all the firewall settings and for the other s/w and can't see anything that should stop the USB instalation of Thunderbird working.

I run Windows XP Pro SP2

If you need further information to help, please let me know.

Help grately appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Hello and welcome thread mate probably a daft question but why remove it?? I use it all the time with the amount of mails I have and it takes up such little space.

Having said that I would hazard a guess that apart from mucking around in the registry (fraught with horrible consequences) I can see no way of doing what you want to do.
If you do want to go that route I would suggest doing this at the earliest opportunity. I always do this after each and every install in two locations for safety sake.

I have replaced my CD burner twice because of this. Now I wonder if it was really a hardware error. When I try to burn a file onto my CD/DVD burner I get the message that the disk is Read Only. Actually it is an empty, clean, new Verbatim CD. Also receive the same message for new Memorex CD. This occurs when I use the drag-to-disk feature of Roxio 9. Any ideas?

Windows Mail suddenly does not send or receive messages. When I attempt to send a message, I receive the following error, "The message could not be sent. An error has occurred." When I click the Send and Receive button, the pop-up box comes up, but not long enough for me to read anything. However, it appears to complete the send/receive process with no errors. I have had issues in the past and often received an error number, but not this time. When I go into my accounts, I have changed the password to my incoming server to the wrong one to see if it recognizes the error and have also changed port numbers and still receive no error. I have attempted working offline and double-checked to ensure it recognizes the wireless internet connection - which it does.

I do not currently have and have never had any anti-virus programs installed on my computer. I have logged into my email through my browser and deleted all emails from all of my folders, closed Windows Mail and then re-started it to no avail.

I would just upgrade to Windows Live Mail, but I already did that once before when I was experiencing other problems with Windows Mail, and that program has also stopped working correctly so I had to go back to Windows Mail. Therefore, it appears that if I cannot get this issue resolved, I will be stuck using my browser (which is not very user-friendly) and my iPhone. Needless to say, I am quite frustrated with Windows Mail and Vista!

PLEASE HELP!

A:Windows Mail - "The message could not be sent. An error has occurred."

First let's fix the major problem of not having an antivirus! For now please download Malwarebytes and run a full, updated scan. Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download That should clean up any bad software on your computer. And I would imagine you have a lot... There are plenty of good free antivirus programs out there, most of the people on this site highly recommend Microsoft Security Essentials. Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials

After running malwarebytes, see if your mail problem is still occurring.

Personally, I just have to recommend you switch to using Mozilla Thunderbird, instead of Windows Mail. It's very clean and easy to use. And free. Check it out. Mozilla Thunderbird That's just a personal suggestion, you don't have to if you really like Windows Mail

OK ... having immense problems with VISTA mail.
Rebuilt Vista (32 bit) mail re-imported ...
Many of the folders have all the mails ... but when you click on them, no body .. just "Message cannot be found" or in one folder correct headers but wrong body for every mail.

Googled around on on Microsoft forums the same response given many times by MS 'expert' ... go to system tools and run Inbox repair tool .... there is no such tool shown.
I run the WM Util tool ... several times ... still the same.

I went to missing folders deleted mails and using cut & paste put copies back in there all OK ... shut down next day, loads of them back to "message can not be found"

I am fully up to date (Dec 2011) but it no longer tells me what ver Vista I have when I click start > computer > properties ... just says its vista ultimate
Windows update does not show any updates .. so assume I'm up to date

After I boot up XP, I get a handy little message next to my name as the logon screen appears that I have "1 Unread E-Mail Message". This would be great exceept I have no new mail.

You see, I've signed in to .net, & then off of .net - rebooted. I've removed my .net passport from my profile - rebooted. I've ALSO removed MSN Messenger from my machine - rebooted. All of this with no luck.

Any takers?

I know that it remembers how many mails you had from the last session you had with whatever program it got that from. So now if you have no way to log into that account, it received that message from, it will continue to display 1 message. Especially if it was MSN. Im sure there is something you can edit to remove this, but I have not come across it yet.

Hey guys. This morning I got a really strange error code. When I tryed to update Steam on my PC, this error message popped up;

"The instruction at "0x00172058" referenced memory at "0x00d1004". The memory could not be "read".

Click OK to terminate the program.

Lately, I have'nt been able to install WoW either, I install it all the way to 100% and then when I try to launch it, I obviously have to re-download all the patches but it prompts me that I have to install it again, even though it is all there.

Tryed downloading the full game digitally off of wow-europe.com too, I click run to get it started, nothing happens and then this message pops up.

"The instruction at "0x00182058" referenced memory at "0x0f070014". The memory could not be "read".

Click OK to terminate the program.

I don't know what's up with it. My freind told me to run a CHKDSK /R to see if there was anything wrong with my drive and it ran smoothly, although I must say it took about an hour or so.

So, that was complete, tryed to do it again and I still kept getting these error messages. But I saw something on my desktop that wasn't there previously. It is an error log. Here is the error log;

Two weeks ago, I cleaned a scareware virus from a PC. The drive was acting flaky, so I did a scandisk and repaired what appeared to be typical file damage. After that, the drive was unreadable. I reloaded the OS and restored data from my backup and everything was fine.

(I don't see this kind of damage often, but I know it happens, so I didn't think much about it.)

Last week, I cleaned another scareware virus (a different one), and the drive also became unreadable. Only this one had an an unusual twist. The BIOS will not detect the drive until I force it to. After saving the configuration and rebooting, the the BIOS again does not recognize the drive.

I have run three types of diagnostics on the drive, and all say it is fine and bootable -- no partition errors or anomalies. Further weirdness: I can read the drive fine from another system as long as it's on an IDE channel, but it will NOT register at all through a USB adapter....??!!

Today I got back a PC that I had cleaned a scareware virus from several weeks ago. This time the drive seemed to be dying. The system would lock or BSOD after a certain amount of time. Scandisk found no errors, nor any other of utilities I used, yet as I was working on it the drive finally went out and -- low and behold -- the BIOS would no longer detect it. I thought this was just a coincidence until I connected it to another system to attempt data recovery, and it reads the drive just fine!

Are any other techs out there enco... Read more

I am using Outlook 2002 on Windows XP with two users. On both user accounts I select the delivery option to "leave mail on server." This works fine with one user, but it is not staying "selected" with the other user. Let me explain: I check the box that says "leave mail on server" and while I'm in Outlook that session it seems to be working fine, but when I close Outlook and then open it again later to check email, I notice that it is not leaving mail on my server. I go back to the delivery setting and the "leave mail on server" check box is unchecked?? I've gone in and selected it at least 10 times and each time I log back in it is not checked anymore.

I checked the settings against the other user, where this option is working just fine and as far as I can tell both users' Outlooks are set up exactly the same.

I'm using McAfee SpamKiller, not sure if this has anything to do with the problem, but I know these kinds of programs can affect email clients in wierd ways like this.

Does anyone know how I might be able to fix this?

I appreciate any advice that can be offered.

Thanks,

-B

Hello, got a bit of an odd problem, not sure if it's an outlook or a server issue but I'm suspecting outlook.
We're running terminal services with windows server 2008 and for the most part it's grand, but there's one user that has a bit of a problem.
When they send mail the mail gets sent no problem but about a quarter of the time the frame of the message remains. The border is there but the main text field is transparent. It'll stay there until it's closed.

It's not exactly mission critical but it's rather odd and I haven't been able to do anything about it so far

any ideas?

Hi I run Windows Vista Home Premium and Outlook 2007. I've set up POP3 access for Gmail and to download mail from mail.bigpond.com (an Australian ISP). Initial setup was fine and I can send test messages to myself.

Recently I've had trouble sending (but not receiving) email via Outlook. The following error message is shown:

Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) email server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet Service Provider (ISP).

This message occurs for both my email accounts.

If I reboot the computer, then sometimes the mail will be sent successfully. I've checked the "account settings" on Outlook- and they are exactly as those given by my ISP/Gmail. But when I click on "test account settings", the test message can't be sent.

What's going on?!

A:Outlook 2007 "Sending reported error"- can receive mail but can't send!!

Angela,

Refer to the earlier query in this section dated 10th April under heading " OE suddenly asking for Logon Password" which shows possible ways of overcoming this . I reckon it's server problem as I had it re-occur a couple of days ago . My Mail is Btinternet which started rejecting my outward messages. I know that BT uses Yahoo so Isubstituted "mail.yahoo.com" for "mail.btinternet.com" ( OE/Tools/Accounts/Properties/Servers) and it immediately started working . So whatever the ISP says it IS their fault and somehow their systems start rejecting things for no valid reason .

All of a sudden I could not find my sent mails in the Sent Items Folder. I looked for help from the forums and got a suggestion to create another profile to test whether I can see my sent mails there. I followed the instructions but there was not enough to lead me through so I don't think I completed creating a profile. Then I got another suggestion to purchase the Registry Booster to clean up my registry. After I did that I was able to see my sent mails again.

However I still continue to see the Outlook Data File Popup with the message "This data file has not been configured. Select an existing file to configure or try the name of a new file to create". After I clicked "OK" then I got another pop up to prompting me to choose a file from the Libraries.Documents directory. I clicked "Cancel" then I got another pop up with "Properities for this data file must be defined prior to use". I clicked "OK" and then I got the Outlook Data File Popup and the same subsequent popups again. After clicking through I was able to start my Outlook but when use the registry Booster to scan I got more error messages. So apparently these errors from Outlook is mucking up my registry. Anyone has any idea about this problem? Please help. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Helen.

A:Outlook 2010 Error message "This data file has not been configured"

Hi Helen,

Firstly, you certainly do not need any registry boosters to solve Outlook data file issues - was this a recommendation made by someone, or was this suggested to you by an automated pop-up? If its the latter, is there any chance you could be infected by some sort of malware?

To solve the Outlook issue, do you know where your Outlook data file is being stored? Can you do a search on your computer for all files with this extension:

.pst

Post back here with your findings. Also, can you tell us about your current system : what anti-virus software are you using. I'm a bit concerned about this Registry Booster : generally speaking, in most cases you really do not need/want to be mucking with the registry at all.

The need is especially useful for newsletters and other non-manned addresses, because the ooo message triggers an auto response from them which triggers another ooo from me.... well you get the picture.

I also have my home emails copied to my work Outlook account, and when I have the ooo message set, it triggers an ooo message to the sender - I may be out of the office, but not necessarily away from home!

I have read in other forums that opting to not use Word as the email editor can cure this issue, but all of our users use Word as their email editor. Also, this issue just appeared out of nowhere a couple days ago. Possibly a windows update?

Hi

We are moving from Windows XP / Office 2003 to Windows 7 / Office 2010
Huge change and of course people try everything that is possible...and impossible, things that you wouldn't of think of doiing.

But yes it seem you can actualy take files, in that case PDF files on your desktop and drag and drop them into an Outlook folder directly.

It doesn't show as an MSG file, it realy show's itself in Outlook as a PDF and you can double click it to open it.

It probably has the same system as Windows Explorer does

We have Symantec Enterprise Vault to Archive emails witch will automaticly do so after a predetermined period of time
We can archive the PDF file and it will result by creating a blank email from yourself with a PDF attached to it

So it does seem to work, i don't see any bugs or error or problem soo far.
But that is "so far"
I can't find anywhere on the internet a post or something that tells you "yes you can do that with Outlook 2010"

Anyone has an opinion on that matter understanding that everyone has differents ways of working...

Thank you

Outlook intermittently gets "mail delivery error" My wife and I both use Outlook 2000 to check multiple accounts on our respective domains. We both experience the problem that after some time of being open (it can be only a few minutes or it can be hours), we'll start getting "can not connct to (account name)". It's usually only one of the accounts, but it's not a particular account. It can happen to any one of the accounts I'm checking. Closing and restarting Outlook always fixes the problem, and sometimes just unchecking the account and re-checking it under the "Accounts" menu will fix it.

Basically it seems like Outlook just randomly loses the ability to check one of the account (which one is also random). It's annoying to have to close and restart outlook all the time. Any ideas why this happens?

Thanks!

I've also verified I have no firewalls running, and my anti-virus version is Symantec Corporate edition 8.0. My o/s is WinXP Pro, sp2. We are not using an exchange server, just pop/internet mail.

Want to set some accounts to check for new mail every ten minutes, others every 30 minutes, others not at all (only manually). Can't see how to do this. Even TBird can do that. What am I missing?

A:How to set "check mail" times for Outlook 2010

It is quite easy, in fact. In Outlook you do this using so called Send / Receive Groups. A group can include just one or multiple mail accounts.

You can define Send / Receive Groups as you wish by following these simple steps:
On ribbon, select Send / Receive > Send / Receive Groups > Define Send / Receive Groups:
.

.
Click New to create a new Send / Receive Group:
.

.
Give the group a name, click OK:
.

.
Select account you want to include in this group on the left pane, select Include the selected account in this group. Do this for each account you want to add in this group, finish by clicking OK:
.

.
Set the online and offline send / receive values for each group:
.

.
Save settings by clicking Close button
That's it.

Notice that you can also send / receive each group manually:

I'm using Outlook 2002. I often send e-mails that I need a read receipt. I know how to turn this option on and off but don't need or want to have it turned on all the time. Is there an EASY way for me to request a read receipt on specific messages only. I think it's a pain to have to drill down through >tools>options>Preferences>e-mail options>tracking just to check read receipt for one message. Then go back through the same procedure to uncheck it. There's got to be a quicker way

Hello: I have this problem quite often when downloading my email through Outlook Express. It always occurs at the start of the day, never during the day, although I do “Send/Receive” dozens of times a day.

My email appears to download normally, but then I get this error message:
<<Message number 1 could not be retrieved. Account: 'pop3.phonecoop.coop', Server: 'pop3.phonecoop.coop', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Can't open the message file - it's gone!', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800420CD>>>

Sometimes this message is followed by several more, beginning “Message number 2 could not be retrieved ...” and so on.

I know for sure of at least two recent emails which have been sent but which I’ve never received. Could this be why?

I have three questions:
1. What is this and can I fix it?
2. Can I stop it happening again?
3. Are the emails which couldn't be retrieved lost forever? Or is there any way I can read them, or at least find out who they came from, so I can ask for them to be re-sent?

(Actually, that’s about five questions, but what am I - a statistician?)

Many thanks for any help - what a great site this is.

New Dell 530 computer, new Office Pro package installed by Dell. Everything works pretty smoothly so far, but every time I open Outlook (not Outlook Express), I get a message "A data file did not close properly the last time it was used and is being checked for problems. Performance might be affected while the check is in progress." I can still check email, appointments, etc, but it works in the background and sometimes interferes with the keyboard or mouse. And if the program is open long enough, it reports a message "data file check complete." It's not a huge issue but is very annoying. Any ideas?

I have checked the box within Outlook 2010 options "When replying to a message that is not in the Inbox, save the reply in the same folder". This feature is not working and all sent emails are filed in "Sent Mail".

Hello tech helper(s),

Thank you in advance for your assistance. I am running XP on a vanilla PC, and have installed IE 7 and Outlook Express 6. I updated IE 7 just last night, to make sure that that is all in order.

All works except for one thing, and it's so frustrating! When I am in Outlook Express, with my Inbox populated by many messages, and I try to do a "Find Message" on that folder, all that happens is that I get a blank results window, regardless of what search criteria I select.

I searched the forum and found one relevant message from long ago, but the answer to that message is not helpful to me.

I've tried various antidotes. I could try to re-install Outlook Express, but doing so seems challenging. And I fear losing my Inbox messages altogether if I do that.

If you can give any advice, I'll appreciate that. In fact, I'm so desparate I'm willing to pay for some effective help.

Thank you,

Howdy!

Yesterday, I started getting the error message below whenever I try to send an email from my Outlook Express.

Response received is: 550-Message rejected because pool-71-96-2-xx.dfw.dsl-w.verizon.net 550-(DELL2KGWP61) {71.96.2.xx]:1523 blacklisted at list.dsbl.org see

550 http://dsbl.org/listing?71.96.2.xx

If you go to http://dsbl.org/listing?71.96.2.xx <--- IP altered for safety. It tells you that this IP has been blacklisted as one that maybe is sending spam. Okay, that ain't me or anyone in my household! It also says, contact your ISP so... I call Verizon DSL but they tell me it's actually a MSN Outlook issue. Verizon says, the IP it references is one that Outlook makes... creates... or something... when it sends out my email. Huh?! So...

I call MSN only to be told that I have to go to Dell since they made the machine. So... I go to Dell and they say everything that Verizon says is hogwash but it'll cost me $100 for them to fix it. Ugh!! So...

Does this look... sound... smell... familar to anyone??? If any mods need the actual IP lemme know, I'll PM it to you.

Could this have ANYTHING to do with the Microsoft Service Pack 2 I dowloaded a couple days ago??

By default I use the "HTML" format for my outgoing Outlook messages. Whenever I need to paste something into my message, such as a portion of a Word doc or a website, I normaly like to do this without any formatting. Normally, when you use the "Rich Text" message format instead of "HTML", you have the "Paste Special" option in the Edit menu which allows you to paste only the text without formatting. Why is this option not available when you use the "HTML" message format?

My current work-around is to paste my selection into Notepad first and then into the e-mail but I was hoping to skip this step.

Any thoughts?

A:Why can't I "Paste Special" in MS Outlook HTML message?

If you have office 2002, you should have a little icon at the end of the text that you click. The other option is to set the prefrences to use Word as your E-mail editor.

Any ideas?

A:outlook 2003 "on behalf of" blank message

that sounds like spam. I get blank emails on my throwaway spam account that I use for usenet. "on behalf of" means, I believe, that the from address is different than the sender address, in the email headers.

To anyone that can help me out:

I purchased a windows anytime upgrade key and upgraded my system from windows 7 home premiuim to windows 7 ultimate now when my windows tries to update I get this: (See image titled "message")

To bring you up to speed as to what I've done so far:
I ran sfc\scannow and no errors were found
I downloaded the hotfixes and apllied them and still could not update
I tried to do a system restore to the point before I upgraded, but I could not perform one because all of my previous attempts to update windows automatically creates a system restore and all the restore points were within a 24 hour period
I installed a system update readiness tool as per "windows help and support" dialogue box

To see the updates that did not install, refer to the image titled "update"

Really, I feel like I've done my homework and I've exhausted my efforts as to how to fix this problem. I'm currently going to school for computers and so I really like to apply what I learn in real world situations, but this one has got me stumped!

I'm also attaching my checksur.log I don't understand it now and it looks like a foreign language to me, but as I progress through my information systems degree I hope one day I can become a techsupport forum partner.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

My system crashed recently and I have had to restore everything. I reinstalled Outlook 2007 and was able to restore my PST file from a backup I had using the genie backup product. All my files and folders are now restored.

When I click on the send/receive button, I get this message "The operation failed. An object could not be found"

I deleted my email setup account (I'm downloading from my att account) and re set it up using the instructions on the att site. I also ran the 'repair' function off the Office CD and did the Office diagnostics.

Any suggestions?

I went to the following link (from the "Please read here first..." thread) http://thespykiller.co.uk/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item10 but was unable to find a download for "hijack this". Does anyone have an alternative link to find Hijack this?

Thank you

EDITED:

A message appeared saying this website wants to run 'ietag.dll' from Microsoft Corp. Is that ok?

P.S. The problem is an increadibly SLOW start up time and "fairly" frequent freezing of the screen (enough to be very frustrating). The computer never goes into hibernate either and I've set it up to do so numerous times. Sometimes, after clicking the IE icon, nothing happens until I click it again a few minutes later. However, it then opens up 2-3 IE windows instead of the original one that I wanted.

I can't get a hijack this log because I can't find the hijack this download. Does the download via the described link, show up for other people?

Does anyone know what it means when messages in the Sent Mail folder in Outlook Express have a header line "This message is being Watched"? This appears in a beige bar above the "From" line in the email. All my emails prior to 12/2/01 show this message, and none after that date show it -- and of course the Microsoft help site provided absolutely no information.

A:Outlook Express "watched" message

From a newsgroup thread:

"From outlook express' help:

In both mail and news, you can watch a conversation that is of particular
interest you. A conversation is an original message and all its replies.

In your Inbox or newsgroup message list, select the conversation you wish to
watch, and on the Message menu, click Watch Conversation.
If your message list's Watch/Ignore column is turned on, the watch icon
will appear next to all the messages of a watched conversation.

Tip
You can customize the color of your watched messages to make them stand out
better. Click the Tools menu, and then click Options. On the Read tab, at
the end of the Highlight watched messages with the color line, select the
color you want, and then click OK."

Cheers,

There is a user that continues to receive the same read receipt from a user she submited a message to on the same email server (exchange).
Both users have deleted the message from their inbox and sent items. We verified that all items have been purged from deleted items as well. Both are using Outlook 2000.
The only thing we have narrowed it down to is everytime the user who received the msg opens outlook the sender receives the same read receipt msg, even after this message has been recieved, read, and deleted.
Are there any known issues with Outlook 2000 occassionally not
designating the message as read?
Has anyone seen this issue before and what steps were taken to resolve it? Thank you for your assistance in advance.

Hi all,
I'm bumping this up because I did a search for the problem and this perfectly describes it. In fact, this original post may well be from my co-worker in IT who really shouldn't have called me a "user" but that's an entirely separate issue.

Just wondering whether anyone has any ideas on what could be causing it. We're using Exchange 5.5 and Outlook 2000. Thanks for your help.

I tried using a program called OutlookSpy which was recommended on another site but that tells me I have used up my free test period and now I have to pay, but I do not even know if it would work.
All my other mail can still go in and out ok but the error messages are driving me nuts.
Any help would be gratefully received.
