Notebook Hard disk upgrade

Q: Notebook Hard disk upgrade

Does anyone know if it's easy to upgrade a notebook hard drive with another manufacturer's hard disk.

I have an acer extensa 710T with a 3 Gb hd. I want to upgrade it, but acer only offer a maximum 6 Gb disk. Could I easily buy an off-the shelf disk and install it??? The current disk seems to be in a removable holster.

Thanks

Steven

Hello, my notebook has suddenly experienced a problem with it's hard drive, and I'm at a loss as to what to do.

It's a "Compaq Presario CQ56" running "Windows 7". As far as I know all drivers and system software is up-to-date.

Well I was running a couple programs and the notebook froze a few times, but only for a minute or so. Then it froze for about 5 minutes. Not completely, but I couldn't access the programs to close them, so I long-pushed the power button and turned it off. I immediately tried to turn it back on several times, and was met with a black screen. After running some system checks and looking at the BIOS and all that, I understood that the problem was with my hard drive.

The system tests were as follows:
Memory Test: PASSED
Battery Test: PASSED
Run-in Test: Stalled at 35%
Start-up Test: Stalled at 35%
Hard Disk Test: Stalled at 2%

So the computer recognizes that the hard disk is there, but still gives me the "Hard Disk Not Exist" error messages at several points. I have no idea how to proceed from this point. My main concern is the integrity of my files; pics, videos, music (especially music).

Does anyone have any idea what I can do? Thank you very much.

In my previous PC I divided the hard disk in 2 partitions: 1 for the OS and the other for my data, so I could made the recovery of the OS without losing my data. Should I do the same on my HP Notebook? How can I do that? And, if I sucessfully create 2 partitions of the Hard Disk (1 TB), 1 for the OS (windows 10 Home), and the other for my files and data, will I be able to recover the OS? Sorry for the bad english, and thank you.

I'm running a HP dv8408 notebook with 1.25GB RAM, planning to add a secondary hard drive. There is a second bay in the dv8408. The drive connectors are SATA. My question is: do all notebooks have the some sort of standardized way of holding the hard drives in the chassis? My primary hard drive is clipped to a sort of stainless steel shroud, with two tabs that are screwed into the chassis to hold it in place.
Thanks in advance for any insight. I figure I'm going to end up talking to HP before I figure this one out.

Is this hard disk for a laptop or Notebook or does it not matter?
I have done some searching a review on Amazon say it's great for a laptop or tower and I have seen playstation mentioned as well. It is second hand and it takes a while to start up took 5 minutes today to load my desktop, a black screen for 5 mins, it has been formatted and I don't know if it needs drivers! As I thought hard drives came with drivers installed.

A:Is this hard disk for a laptop or Notebook or does it not matter?

Generally speaking a 2.5" hard drive (form factor) is laptop while 3.5" is desktop. Depending on how the enclosure or bay is designed, it's possible to put a 2.5" drive in a 3.5" enclosure or bay. As far as the slow boot times, you might want to run the usual maintenance/troubleshooting steps. Things like disk cleanup, check disk, defrag, system file checker scan, etc. Of course it might also be an indication that the drive is failing. These troublshooting tutorials could help diagnose the issue(s).

I have a HP Pavilion dv6500 Notebook and when I turn it on it goes to a window that says Windows Error Recovery up at the top and than it says Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. If Windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly, Startup Repair can help diagnose and fix the problem So I choose Launch Startup Repair (recommended) and then it takes me to another window that states the same (Windows failed to start... to fix the problem: 1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer 2. Choose your language settins, and then click "Next." 3. Click "Repair your computer." I insert the CD and restart the computer but it goes back to the same window I also tried to do a system recovery but that did not work. In BIOS I went to diagnostics and ran a "Primary Hard Disk Self Test" and it said that the status of the test is: #10008- Replace Hard Disk, but I don't have the money at this time to go and buy a new one. So I was wondering if I find a recovery CD on the Web, would that fix the problem? It also says something about booting from a network adapter What exactly is that and could that work?

I am trying to put a new hard drive in a:
HP Pavilion ze5170 laptop
the new hard drive is:
Hitachi Travelstar 80GB 4200RPM

It will not recognize this new hard drive. When I pulled the old one out i noticed that the connectors look a bit different (new drive is ata 6, laptop is ultra DMA 100). Is this hard drive just not compatible or am I missing something? When I go into setup it is on auto detect and says none. No jumper. This is the only hard drive.
Hope this is enough info. Please help!

Hi guys

I got the connector between hard disk of (notebook) AND IDE of desktop and I connected to the secondary IDE of hard disk but computer(desktop) doesn't recognise , I don't believe it is very simple but it doesn't recognize .

Is it some trick to do this ?? please inform me

thx

A:connect hard disk (Notebook) to IDE of desktop

There are a bunch of reasons for your problem.

1 - Make sure BIOS is seeing the drive. If it isn't Windows won't see it either.
2 - Double check the connections.
3 - Make sure the Jumpers on the drive are set correctly for the position on the IDE cable.

If BIOS is seeing the drive, then

1 - If the drive is new and needs formating, go into DATA MANAGEMENT (WIN/XP) and partition and format the drive.
2 - If the the drive is not new and has a file system not supported by the desktop computer, ie: WIN/98 trying to see a NTFS drive

Beyond the above, If the drive is broke, you never will make it work.

Hi, I currently have a 1 TB HDD in my laptop, but with Windows 10, my disk usage is often 100% (even after disabling a lot of stuff). I would like to upgrade to an SSD. I have a few questions that I would like your help with: Is it allowed to upgrade to SSD? (I mean does the BIOS check something like hardware signatures, and would it reject a new drive?)Should I look for a particular size when searching SSDs online? Will I be able to retain my Windows license? (I can currently create a USB from Microsoft's tool and reinstall Windows. If I change hardware, will Microsoft still allow me to retain my lisence?)What other precautions should I take?I am currently looking at this SSD. Would this (and similar) work with my laptop? Thanks and regardsPrakhar

hi.

i just recently bought a new external hard disk (storage) and it cant seem to work. there are drivers, and ive installed all of them but still nothing. the problem is that the new hard disk doesnt show up at the 'my computer'. its a usb external 40gb disk for laptops, ive got another one which i had bought years ago and it works still fine.

i could locate the hard disk at the "devices" area but it says that the driver and everything is installed. so, basically, the device exists, just that i cant see it.. which doesnt make sense. i cant roll back driver or anything cos, well, there wasnt an earlier version of the driver.

physically, the hard disk looks and well, sounds normal, as if its working. when i plug it in my usb slot, a bubble pops out at the bottom right and says that "this device can perform faster....." as if its being detected already.

please please please please help.
it will be very much appreciated!

A:Solved: external hard disk for notebook problem

A lot of USB hard disks have two USB plugs, you have to plug both of them in at once for it to work.

Hi, The 24 character error code is a failure of the short Disk Self Test ( DST ) and would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced.  This is also consistent with the boot issues you describe. If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced - If needed, you can check your warranty status Here. If you live in the US, contact HP Here. If you are in another part of the world, start Here. If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know - include the full Model No. and Product No. of your g3 series notebook - see Here for a further explanation. Regards, DP-K

Yes you should be able to install a 320 or 500GB with no problem. I imagine a 750GB should also be fine, but I wouldn't try installing a 1TB just in case there is a Chipset/BIOS sector addressing limitation.

Hello Luka123,  Welcome to the HP forums.  As far as I can tell you can upgrade your hdd to an ssd.  However, I recommend you to reinstall the operation system instead of copying it. This because you will lose perfomance when coping from an hdd to an ssd, It might even affect the lifetime of your ssd. You can download Windows 10 and activate it with your Windows 7 serial if you want to. Winos.

When changing from 32 bit to 64 you MUST do a clean install and therefor have to re-install the apps.

Upgrade disk? Not full redial, or OEM?

My company's computer needs to be patitioned and reformat. The system is still working well. I mean, nothing wrong with anything (weird huh?). Ok the hard disk just need to be 'split'. I mean, make drive C & D on the hard disk. I know how to do that... easy... Then the HD need to be formatted & reinstall windows XP. Ok, easy too..

But the main problem occured before I do anything (partition & format). I have my own bootable CD that I usually use for partitioning & formatting.

Ok, i insert the CD & restart.
I went to BIOS & changed the boot order (1st boot: CD-ROM, 2nd: HDD-0 & 3rd: Floppy). Then restart again.
Ok the bootable CD is excellently loaded.
I typed fdisk, then came the first problem. it says something like 'no fixed disk'. I exit fdisk.
Then I typed format c:, 2nd problem occured. it says something like, 'invalid drive'.
I forgot the error message because the pc is in my office right now. I'm currently at home 'begging for help' So the error message is not accurate. sorry..

I think, if I run the CD, the hard disk will not be loaded (or should I say, hard disk failure). & If I take off the CD & restart again, change the BIOS (1st boot: HDD-0) then windows will load! Weird right?

I don't think my CD is 'corrupted' nor broken because I tried to run the CD from another PC. Yes, I can access the C drive from that PC.

Does anyone have any idea of the ... Read more

A:Can't format hard-disk nor do partition when using boot disk. Hard-disk failure

It sounds like it might be the bootable CD you've created is not picking up the HDD's/partitions.
To eliminate this as a posibility travel to bootdisk and grab the WinME bootdisk and boot from there. If it picks up the HDD you can FDISK and Format from there.
The other option is to boot using the XP CD and let it handle the formatting/partitioning duties...

Greetings,

I have an Asus laptop running windows 7 64 bit and this laptop came with 2 hard drives, each partitioned into two parts (C:\ & D:\ and E:\ & F:\).

I am transferring over 30GB of data from one drive (C:\) to the other (F:\)

Get this... the transfer rate is 1.2MB/s right now. Over 9 hours left to copy the 30GB. There are over 125,000 items but that still does not justify the 1.2MB/s

I am open to any suggestions but first, a few points.
Yes, I am sure they are two separate drives with those partitions.
Error checking showed zero errors on both drives.
This is the 3rd time I am trying a transfer.
Both drives are relatively empty (especially the F:\).
C:\ is my system disk.
The SMART data shows no read/write errors or overheating.
I have disabled the virus protection and all real-time scanning.

Again, I am very open to suggestions and checks. Feel free to post your idea!

Thanks in advance!

A:Laptop Hard Disk to Hard Disk transfer Extremely Slow

My experience with file transfers of the type you describe...is that the number of files doesn't matter...what matters is how large the files are.  Video files take much longer than text or document files.

Slow transfer rates between partitions/drives...can indicate a problem with either the partititon or the drive, IMO.

Hi guys,

I will try to explain this as simple as i can.So let's start
I have laptop ASUS N75SF and it is a year old,so i have decided to format.I have two separate hard disks that are the same brand,SeaGate 9500423 AS, each 500 gb capacity. Before i decided to format , one of my hard disks(that is my partition D) started to make strange noises and it was not recognized, but i was using my laptop without problems because my windows was installed on my other hard disk (that is my partition C).So now my question is this :
After i formatted them both i have no clue which one is which ? they are like :
Disk 0 Partition 1 465 gb
Disk 1 Partition 2 465 gb
So how do i choose the one that is better and not having problems to pust my winodows on?
I know that i can buy new one and replace it with the one that is having problems, but right now i have no money to do that .I am student

Thanks in advance

A:Confused about installing Windows on my hard disk, hard disk problem

Windows XP sp2 wont boot from hard disk.

After much to do turns out my computer doesnt recognise the hard disk.

I have a seagate 500Gb SATA hard drive, its about a year old, the computer doesnt get hot in the slightest and it shouldnt be dead. I checked the wiring, as far as i can see, its all fine.

only conclusion i come to is that my hard disk is kaput which it shouldnt be. Can anyone give me any other possible solutions to try out before i cry and/or spend money on a new one? theres a lot of data on it i dont want to lose.

If not, ill plug it in to another computer to check, i havent done that yet because it will take me hours - i can only unscrew the hard drive from one side without rearranging the room.

ty!

A:Hard disk boot failure -> computer won't recognise hard disk

Is your Seagate the 7200.11 series?

We've been seeing a lot of harddrive issues layely that has nothing to do with the drive itself but bad SATA cables aas the cause. Do you have another one you can switch out?

When you say the computer doesn't recognize it we're talking the BIOS here, correct?

Another suggestion is what you have already suggested but I would "slave" it in antother system and see if you can access it that way.

I am having this Hard Disk problem. My old Hard Disk (Samasung 500GB) (bought in 2010) started showing signs of corruption (like Windows doing chkdsk at every boot, and data getting lost). So I bought a NEW Hard Disk (Western Digital 1TB) last month (Sep 2016) to backup all the data from old one. I didn't have time to backup but wanted to use PC so I Clean Installed Windows 7 64bit on the New Western Digital 1TB and used it about a month without any problems.

A couple of days ago i decided to backup up the data. I reformatted the New Western Digital 1TB with Gparted and did a clean Windows 7 Install again. I connected the old Samsung 500GB to the motherboard and started copying the files to the new Western Digital 1TB.

Suddenly Windows showed me an error "Windows detected a hard disk problem" which makes sense because the Samsung 500GB is old and might be failing BUT the error is showing both of my Hard disk in the dialog box.

Is my new hard disk corrupt as well?
Why is Windows showing my new hard disk as failing?
Can Windows mistakenly show both hard disk in error?

Please help i am confused. sorry for a confusing question. i will answer anything required.

I have taken the screenshot of the error message, they are in attached files.
1)The 1st Screenshot shows both my Hard disk in the error box (OLD Samsung and NEW Western Digital WD)
2)The 2nd Screenshot shows only one of my Hard disk and its the new one (Western digital WD)

I will try to keep this as brief as possible and yet give you wise and wonderful tech persons all the information you need to help me out. I am intelligent, but NOT a super-user.

I have an e-machines desktop computer. It is old. A Cyrix MII 266 processor with upgraded memory. I have a 10gb Maxtor hard drive which is the issue at hand. I am running Win2000. My home computer (the e-machine desktop) is networked through a router with my printer and my business laptop.

The problem: Win2000 loads and boots. It LOOKS like it's functioning properly. However, it cannot read any of the files on the disk. When I try, it tells me C: is inaccessible. I can't search, explore, etc. The files are "non-existent."

I managed to get Windows to create a backup of it and saved that file to my Laptop. I can only "assume" that it actually backed up ALL the files on the drive so they are safe.

One really ODD thing you should know is that I cannot get into the BIOS. When it boots and usually gives you that second or two to hit [F2] and enter setup ... doesn't do that any more. I sit and hold the F2 key. Nope. I've second-guessed myself and tried the ESC key and the F1 key. I've tried it with and without the CTRL key. Nothing. So I can't even tell the silly thing to boot from the CD instead, load onto my D: backup drive and then kill the C: drive. It's like it's possessed.

Things I've already tried (not necessarily in this order):

2. If I copy the whole disk to another new disk, would I encounter problems copying half way since there a

3. Will the data copied to new hard disk be incomplete since there are bad/corrupted sectors on my old hard disk?

4. My old hard disk is 1TB WD Black. What should I use for the new hard disk? Does it need to be same size and model?

Thanks a lot. Greatly appreciate your help.

(I do know how to change a hard disk and reinstall Windows 7 (Windows 7 updates took a long time) and install all programs again and setup again. That would take a few days so I am wondering if there is a faster way.)

A:Hard disk is failing, how to change to a new hard disk?

If you don`t have a complete backup image, then there`s nothing you can do about it. You`re gonna have to re install windows.

Get your data off before the drive dies.

Your new drive does not have to be the same size and model, you can get whatever you want.

I have a HP Ency Phoenix -810-160 that had a dead HD. I got a good deal on a SSD and thus replaced the drive. When I attempted to run the recovery disks, I ran into the issue that I kept getting a Hard Drisk Error blue screen at start up.  I found it odd so I took the drive and tested it on another computer. No issue. I've now been able to install windows 8.1 back on it and even upgraded it to Windows 10 before the deadline but I still get the blue sceen error.  All tests pass for both memory and the hard disk. System also runs fine with the exception that when I start up the computer there is a massive delay, then I get the Hard Disk Error, If I just F2 kit and then close and continue, the system finishes to start up.  I think I may be having a firmware issue but HP Assist is installed and all updates are suposed to be running.  Anyone outthere running into a similar issue? I feel like I'm having a false positive since I went up to a Solid State Drive.

A:How do I upgrade my notebook to an SSD

For some people, upgrading a notebook to an SSD may be like diving into the deep end of a swimming pool. An SSD upgrade may involve extensive disassembly of your notebook, depending on the model. Some models have hard disks that are easier to access than others. There is the small, but important detail involving accepting the risk of damaging your notebook and violating the warranty. You will need to decide whether you want to migrate your OS to the new SSD or perform a clean installation of Windows. If you have already upgraded the notebook?s OS to Windows 10, your notebook will have a digital entitlement on the Windows licensing servers. That is Microsoft?s new licensing model which makes activation of the OS a seamless process. In the part of the installation where you see a box to put the twenty-five-character license activation key, there is a link below it that says, I don?t have a key.     That is what you should click on to continue the installation. The type of SSD that will be compatible with your notebook depends on a few things. The first is how recently your notebook came to market. The second is whether your notebook is an entry level or a high-end model with advanced features. The third is dependent on the interfaces present on your notebook?s system board. Your notebook may have only SATA ports or it may also have an M.2 or mini PCIe slot.  Older notebo... A:Notebook CPU upgrade

I strongly suggest you forget about the idea. The difference isn't worth the trouble of the conversion, and it's frequently very difficult to swap processors in laptops. In general, if you gain less than a 1.5:1 improvement in processor speed, you'll notice very little difference in visual performance.

NB motherboards are proprietary to the case they are built for. A:M.2 SSD upgrade for HP Notebook 15-ay013nr

This model can have either a hard drive or an M.2 mSSD but not both. There is a Solid State Drive board that adapts the mSSD to the same space in the laptop as a hard drive or full sized SSD. Since a SATA hard drive and the M.2 plug into the same connector I would say that you have to use a SATA M.2 mSSD and not a PCI-e version as you ask about. This is a brand new model with a Skylake processor so not easy to find information but here is the Service Manual: Manual See p. 56. So if you want the mSSD and you order the laptop with either a hard drive or 2.5 inch SSD you will also somehow have to locate the SSD board. I would just install a 2.5 inch SSD since I think the board will be hard to locate.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Wife is picking up the new HP Notebook 17-x137cl (http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c05309298.pdf),  armed with... Intel Core i7-7500U (2.7-GHz, turbo up to 3.5 GHz, 4-MB L3 cache, 2133-MHz, dual, 15W)AMD Radeon? R7 M440 R16M-M1-70 with up to 4096 MB of dedicated video memory (512Mx16 DDR3 x 4 PCs)16 GB DDR4 SDRAM (2 DIMM) I'm pretty sure Santa needs to bring her an upgraded GPU as that entry level AMD will just slow her down, cough-cough. What graphics card can this upgrade to?  That is, what are the specs/connections/what am I shopping for?  Do I just look at the AMD R7's for a fit?  How good of a GPU is too good where other components are just going to bottleneck the thing? Any advice is welcomed and thanks in advance.  BTW, I'm still on my 6+ year old Dv7, going strong for 6+years god bless it...

A:HP Notebook 17-x137cl GPU upgrade

Thanks for the quick reply.Never thought I would misunderstand the words "Switchable Graphics", but I never did get into geek speak. I would recommend that HP change the term to "Switchable Graphics But Not After You Buy It And Take It Home".

I'd like to upgrade the RAM from 4MB to 8MB in my HP G72 notebook b20SA. I read mixed information. I'm sure HP's website says the maximum RAM for this notebook is 4MB - which seems small given that I can upgrade the hard disk to 1TB - but I'm sure I've seen suggestions that 8MB is possible.

I brought my notebook into a computer tech and he tried to install 3 SSDs to no avail.  I would like to install a 120GB SSD if at all possible.  The error received was that it was unable to connect.  Two of the SSDS were Kingstons and the other one was a Toshiba.  My sense is that he did not seek to find out what SSDs were compabile with this laptop.  This computer originally came with Windows 8 installed.

picked up this USB/SATA wire with the intent to hook it up to a Hard Drive I removed from a lap top and transfer the files to a new Hard Drive I installed in the lap top. I'm sure you know where this is heading, I had no clue what I was doing. I bought the new Hard Drive at Best Buy along with the Upgrade wire brought them home and quickly removed the hard drive and replaced it with the new one. I then quickly opened the Upgrade Kit (bad idea). Anyway this is the problem, I returned the new hard drive and I was thinking they informed that the new hard drive had no operating system so it would not work unless I bought the software. Also, I was going to return the Upgrade kit, but they would not take it back because they said I may have already installed the software that came with the kit. I now have this Upgrade kit that I spent $40.00 for and not  quite sure what to do with it.
This leads to my question, is there any way I can hook this wire up to the old hard drive that will not Boot and send it to my computer?
Then again there may be something in the hard drive that may compromise my hard drive. Do I have any use for this Upgrade kit.
Sorry for the long drawn out post and many questions.

I have a friend with a toughbook laptop and we have taken it apart to the core to find that the cpu is a standard 2.8v socket 7 p166mmx pentium cpu. we cannot find jumpers anywhere and wonder if there is any way to upgrade this chip to a 2.8v p233mmx or to one of these low volt socket 7 p266mmx cpus.

We would like to put in a k6-2 but see no way of configuring the chip. These units came stock with 100-166mhz pentium laptop and standard cpus so there must have been a way of "jumpering" them to run each chip

Any thoughts?

Thanx

A:Panasonic CF-25 notebook cpu upgrade

Hmm, we just installed a pentium MMX 200mhz cpu and it works great but only at 166mhz like the old cpu.

There must be a way of reconfiguring the board with different multipliers as the laptop came with anything from a p100 to a p150. but the bios has no options for this and the motherboard itself does not have jumpers to change.

Any ideas?

Method 1: Use a usb to sata cable and a cloning program for the simplest way to migrate your OS to an SSD. (see the image below)Method 2: Remove the hard disk from the notebook. Put it and the target SSD in a desktop PC in spare available SATA ports.    Cloning programs like Samsung's Magician, Paragon's Migrate OS to SSD 4.0, and Apricot's EZ Gig IV will allow you to shrink the amount of data on the legacy hard disk to fit on the SSD. The migration is normally seamless and simple and usually finished in about thirty minutes or less. The cloning software will prep the hard drive on its own with scripted powershell commands. Connect the SSD to the sata connector and the USB end to a USB port on your notebook. Invoke the cloning program you have chosen to use.  When the cloning procedure is complete, all that you will need to do is replace the original legacy disk with the SSD. Enter the notebook's BIOS and set the SSD disk to the top of the boot list. Save the change, boot to your SSD and enjoy the performance boost. You won't believe that it is the same notebook. With some notebooks, in order to allow the SSD to boot you will have to use the UEFI boot order and move the OS Boot manager to the top of the list.   Method 3: A clean install of a Windows OS. Windows XP, Vista, 7 , 8 & 8.1 to the new SSD. This can be difficult if the OS is Windows 8 or 8.1. Newer notebooks have the license activation key in the BIOS as a SL... Read more

G'day,

I've been thinking about upgrading my ASUS X54C notebook by adding a SSD, and possibly more RAM.

Before I open this thing up to take a closer look, is anyone familiar with this notebook to be able to say it does or doesn't have sufficient space for both the existing 2.5" HDD, and a SSD? I guess the only real way to tell is by opening it up?

I can't seem to find an internal diagram that might give me a clue, but these are the specifications if it helps.

Currently, I have 4GB RAM, and considering upgrading to 8GB.

Thanks muchly,
Golden

A:Notebook upgrade advice please

Hi Golden,

The only thing I've seen or heard it you can get a case of some sort for the optical drive for the HD and replace it? But you would be left with no Optical, and put you sdd in the HD slot and get the case for the optical slot and put you HD there?

Hello. I am hoping someone can help me before I go crazy. I have an HP 530 Notebook running Vista business that was running really slow. I backed up all of my information and ran the Recovery Disks that were made upon initial purchase. At 60% it fails and gives me a 1005 error saying
File:\Windows\system32\winload.exe
Status: 0xc00000f
Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.
The other option was to do a recovery from the hd but it fails also!
Please help, I am desperate!!!!

A:HP 530 Notebook corrupt recovery disk

It appears to me that your only option would be to contact HP and have then send you a set of recovery disks that work. There's not much else you can do if the recovery disks and recovery partition are corrupted.
