[SOLVED] Compaq Presario 4712 bios setup

Q: [SOLVED] Compaq Presario 4712 bios setup

Well, last week was going good until my computer decided to melt down. I reworked a Compaq Presario 4712 as a backup, but I can't figure out the bios setup sequence. Can someone please help me. I'm in the middle of backing my web site up, so I can move it to a secure server.

I erased the bios on a Compaq Presario 5340. Now I need to find a bios for it again. Compaq's site is no help at all.

Does anyone know where I could find one?

(my problem is that it will not boot to the HD. it will only go to the floppy disk with a program called KillDisk on it. i connected the HDs to a different computer and it worked fine without the floppy and booted to the OS. and yes the HD is first for boot order.)

I have a Compaq Presario CQ50 laptop. It completely stopped working a while ago, and when I tried to reboot it using the CD I had issues, and gave up on the laptop for months. I am now trying to make it work again, and unfortunately I do not remember the specifics as to what exactly I did the first time around.

However, when I try to start it, it tries to boot XP and then flashes to a blue screen, where it says "Setup is being restarted." Soon after, I am shown a message saying "Please instert the Compact Disk labeled 'Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 CD' into your CD-ROM drive.

I have my one and only Windows XP cd already in, and after clicking Ok am told "The file 'asms' on Windows XP Professional Sercie Pack 3 CD is needed."

Can someone please help me?

I scanned most of the site for answers but didn't find what i wanted to know so I'm here to ask what I should do to to maintain my computer as extensively as possible, I'm not new to computers but I don't know about the more advanced things like symbols and such, I just want to take care of my laptop, any instructions and especially a to-do list would help greatly. Perhaps a site that explains what I want to know exists, and one for how to use the command prompt feature?

I have a compaq presario. The bios are poop. Does anyone know if there is a way to update the bios with areal manufacturer? Or am I stuck with compaq's bios? It would be really nice if there was a way to find out who makes the bios for them and update it. Any info would be great. Thank you in advance!

A:Compaq Presario Bios

You need to get the BIOS from Compaq. While the board maybe MADE by another company, who knows what slight changes to the specs were made.

When you do your next upgrade, build your own and get a real BIOS.

Like working on a NEW Dell PC, almost NO Options, no Temp monitors nothing.. junk... its a DELL!

I have been trying and trying but when I hit F10 at the beginning I just get into the COMPAQ diagnostics and setup, and it says nothing about BIOS. My plans are to overclock it to see how it works, just for hands on experience, if you have any tips on that you could help me out with that also. Thanks for your guys help and I hope someone can help me. email me at [email protected] OR send me an AOL instant message at Daws202 which is my screen name. Thanks people!

There is a pass word to the BIOS and you need to take out the motherboard battery to erase it. Leave it out for 5 secs, unplug the computer and turn it on unpluged to drain all the power out of it. then reinstall the battery and reboot.
You m,ay have to remove some of the perifs CD burner, JS Ect if it dosent work the first time to drain the power out of everything

Yes it sucks.

Hello! I'm new here to these forums hoping to find a solution to this problem that has been bugging me for days and keeping me from setting up my computer.

Basically after several years, I am finally dealing with the loss of my Hard-Disk drive that came with my computer. I have bought a new Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ as a replacement, and I am having trouble setting it up. Here are a few Specs for my computer:

Compaq Presario SR1303WM
AMD Sempron 3000+
BIOS Revision 3.11
Mother Board: ASUS A7V8X-LA

It's a bit of an older computer. The HDD that failed me used the old ATA standard, and I am going from that to SATA II (3 Gb/s). My motherboard does have two SATA ports on it, but I don't think the motherboard supports 3 Gb/s transfer rate. Only 1.5 Gb/s. I have an SATA cable that connects directly from the HDD to the MoBo as well as a power converter that I use to connect power to the new HDD. I am using a jumper on the fifth and sixth pins ::[:]: <--- looks like that. The reason I am using a jumper is because I have read by other people that this puts the device into the 1.5 Gb/s mode, although I'm not entirely sure. The Samsung manual my HDD came with says that in order to put the drive into this mode, you must download and use their software from their site, www.samsung.com/hdd which I have tried and failed. When I run Samsung's software, I get the error: "Error reading from drive L: data area: drive not ready (A)bort, (R)etry, (F)ail?"... Read more

Ok. Trying to fix a friend's computer, and seem to have run into a rather strange snag.  Problem:  The computer will not boot past the bios screen. Details:  When you power on the computer, the compaq logo with intel inside shows up and has the <F1 Setup> and <F10 System Recovery> options listed as well.  And this is about as far as the computer gets.  After this the whole computer is just locked up, no buttons work on the keyboard no lights come on the keyboard ect ect.  I've tried mashing on the F1 key as soon as I power on the computer and I can manage to get it to say *entering setup* but it still freezes after this point.  I've already tried eliminating possible sources of problem, all expansion cards removed, HDD and Dvd Rom disconnected, single memory module (256mb ddr 2700), only power, vga, and keyboard connected.  Ive also used the jumper on the motherboard to clear the cmos hoping that would solve the problem, to no avail.  I've tried using a different stick of memory and different memory slot as well...  Tried using both a ps2 and a usb keyboard... Ive even tried pulling out the jumper for the bios password protection (even though it didn't have a password on it, just trying anything I can think of).  The installed bios version is 3.1, and that is about all I know about the computer at this point, other than what the website tells me of it.   http://h10025.www1.hp.com/... any help would be great and aslo people have been telling me that my motherboard could be warped how would i fix this without buying a new one because i have no money at all for the laptop.

A:compaq presario v6000 wont display bios and screen is black

It looks like you may have Bad Ram: Compaq BIOS Beep Codes - BIOS Central.
Computer Does Not Start and Emits an LED or Beep Code Compaq Presario SR5510F Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English) Or it could be the Video adapter on the motherboard. Try removing one stick of RAM and get to the Bios. You can also download the ISO image for Memtest in my signature burn the image to CD with IMGBurn also in my signature or USB and boot off of the disc and run the tests on each stick of RAM separately.

I was working on a customer's laptop, a Compaq CQ60, that refused to boot into windows and System Recovery disabled all recovery options except for Command Prompt.

On a hunch, after pressing Escape during BIOS boot, I selected HDD Test. The test ran and failed with "Replace Hard Drive." OK.. the laptop sat there for a few minutes and never did anything else, so I tried to get out of that screen. Nothing responded, so I just held the Power button to turn the computer off.

When I pressed Power again to turn the computer back on, the Power and Wireless LEDs comes on, the CD drive is accessed and then the HDD LED lights up for a second and goes out. The screen never comes up nor do the backlights.

I have tried hooking up an external monitor, but that never shows anything either.

I have tried taking the memory out, cleaning the contacts, putting them back in, swapping the modules around, booting with one or the other.... No effect.

I pulled the battery and the CMOS battery, unplugged AC and let it sit for a good half hour. I held the Power button for thirty seconds. Plugged the CMOS battery back in then the AC. Turned it on and still no go.

I cannot figure out WHAT could have happened!? Any other ideas? Thanks...

NOTE: THIS IS A COPY OF MY POST ON THE COMPAQ FORUM...getting desperate.

Hi, i bought a 6150b from a company auction. Everything worked perfect for the longest time. Then last week i went to go turn it on, and all it does is run the CPU fan for a couple seconds, flash the AC LED about 7 - 8 times, and while thats flashing the power and hard drive LEDs stay solidly lit. Then it completely turns off. This all lasts about 3 seconds at the most. Thats what happens when on battery power.

When on AC power, the same thing happens, except it continues doing the cycle over and over again until I unplug it.

I think it might have something to do with the LCD monitor, since it does not even show a slight flicker at all. No color change like it would from when turned off to a black back lit screen when turning on.simply nothing.

I opened her up (no warranty anyways) and checked all the connections for the keyboard, monitor, DVD drive etc....also reseated them as well, with no luck.

Pulled the both RAM modules and reseated them as well, nothing.

Pulled the battery as well, no change. Still cycles the same over and over again while on AC

There are no audible errors codes (real nice HP...), and im lost at this point.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

A:Compaq Presario 6150b wont boot - no BIOS screen - powers on and off repeatedly

I think instead of just pulling and replacing the CMOS battery you might purchase a new one and install it. Proceed from there. If you get a screen and it's still has a problem try a new PSU. Jazz

Hello all great website!

Compaq Presario 7000 series (model #7QSM11) using Windows ME, AMD 1332 mhz processor. My sister's computer. Hard drive was a 60GB, but it died. So I bought a new hard drive actually tried a 160GB first but thought the 137GB issue was the problem so now I am trying a 120GB western digital Caviar.

I found and successfully flashed the latest bios. (ROM date 3/28/02-786K2 Family). I checked the bios and it does see all 120GB. But when I goto partition it, I run into problems. Three methods tried: I tried to use Western Digitals included CD-ROM, even created the DOS boot floppy that they recommended on another system. Doesn't work keeps coming up with an error that something like A:\Auto???.exe not found. I checked the floppy that file is there?? Comes up whether I am booting from the floppy or from the CD-ROM.

So I tried fdisk from a Windows ME boot disk. Fdisk will only find/or report 24GB. I cleared the partition and tried using the Compaq restore disks but they came up with the same problem.
Am I right in thinking that this is a Windows ME issue?
Can you tell me how to fix this problem?

My computer is a Dell 8100, also running Windows ME but with a Intel P4, I installed a 200GB hard drive and had to flash the bios, and then I am not sure if it was Maxtor's DDO dynamic disk overlay or Intel's application accelerator, or the Flashed Bios, but Windows ME sees the whole hard drive.

I am so frustrated, I am not completely stupi... Read more

everytime I think "I've seen it all", I haven't. This older Turion-based Presario V2000 series was working fine... Last night it was ok - I could get into setup, had OS loaded, was looking for the right graphics driver, finally went to sleep and turned off the unit. Came in this morning, turned it on, and it goes immediately to LAN-boot PXE 2.0 "media test failure" and cannot get it out of that loop. Hit F10 [compaq's setup key] - ignored. F2... F12, pulled battery, drained caps, tried again, pulled HD, nothing.
won't boot CD/DVD, or anything else.

anyone seen this? I see tons of threads on the issue but they all end with "go to bios and change......". I can't.

A:Older Presario V2410 cannot get BIOS/Setup - PXE 2.0 loop

You have done everything I would do.
You know you need to reset the BIOS to defaults to get the setting off of "Boot PXE (Network)".

You may need to pull it apart and remove the 3v battery from the motherboard to do this.

Some units have a reset button of sorts on the motherboard, some do not. Some have a small hole through the bottom of the case that you can use a bent paperclip to reach through and hit the button.

I have a HP compaq dx 2400 microtower with Win 7 ultimate on it.
Everytime I apply power to the machine it turns on. I want it true on only when the power
button is pushed.
I push the F10 key to get into bios setup as shown in the HP boot up menu. When I do that
I do not get into Bios. I get a windows 7 menu that shows some kind of boot edit.

How do I get into HP bios to make power startup changes?
Thank you,

A:Getting into HP compaq Bios Setup

Everytime I apply power to the machine it turns onClick to expand...

If you mean when you plug in the system it pw ON, that is either a pw supply failure or a mb failure OR [very] remote chance of a failed switch/wiring. Usually the switch does not fail however anything can break. To test, swap in a known good pw supply. Given the age of that system, it is not worth putting much money into repairing. If the pw supply fixes the problem, great. If not, it [your system] is not worth installing a new mb. With big box systems, you either purchase the board from the mfg [prohibitively expensive] OR you attempt to install a standard board into the hp case; sometimes that works and sometimes it does not. Big box systems are proprietary ie the case, board, etc are made to HPs specs NOT industry standard specs. In addition, if you install a different mb, you need a new copy of windows, you cannot use the oem version of windows.

One other item, win7 ultimate did not come on this system. It came with vista. How did win7 ultimate get installed?

This is a mess I hope someone can help me clean up!

PC with problem is a compaq presario Intel Celeron 500/66mz, windows98SE. CD-RW should be E: drive DVD should be F: drive
Was told the DVD drive was shot. (I'm coming in on the tail end of this problem) so it was replaced &tested. Customer called & said that the tech took the wrong CD out & he left the old burner in. He removed old dvd & replaced it with the old cd-rw. Customer calls and says that the cd-rw no longer works. So I have the PC back in the shop again.

Neither drive appears to work although the power works fine on both--open & closing drawer. At one time the cd-r did recognize a disk...but only once & when I took out the disk to try another, it wouldn't read it again. The DVD doesn't even have a drive letter now.

ide cable to mobo is f drive first. e drive last. power supply is p2 f drive, p3 e drive. both appear to be pinned as slave drives. do not see anything in compaq setup to modify the cd settings.

Hi. I have a problem with a Compaq Presario running XP Home. I took the CD player out and cleaned out broken pieces of a CD that was destroyed in it. I got it cleaned out, put back together and now the pc won't boot up. I don't know what went wrong. Cleaning the CD player was quite easy and went back together okay. I hooked all of the wires up the way they were.
On the front of this computer, there are two lights. One on the left which is green, and one on the right which is orange. Normally, when the power button is pushed, the green light comes on first, then the orange light comes on during the loading process. You can see the boot process on the monitor.
Now, after hooking it back up today, when the power button is pushed, the green light comes on, then the orange one comes on and goes back off after a moment. The green light stays on. Nothing at all shows up on the monitor, not even a blinking cursor -- it just stays blank. It stays that way indefinitely -- nothing.
The monitor light is on so it is apparently getting power, but shows nothing. I'm sure the monitor is hooked up correctly; it can only be plugged in one way.
While I had everything unhooked and was cleaning the CD player, I plugged the CD player back in for a moment and plugged in the power cord to the pc and pushed the power button. The power came on and allowed me to eject the empty tray. I did this to get the tray out of the way so I could clean beneath it. I tried to turn the power back off... Read more

A friend recently handed me a Compaq Presario 2100 -- a circa 2005 laptop computer running XP -- and asked if I could "rejuvenate" it. I agreed to try. He didn't even have a transformer for it, so I had to use the one for my Win 7 Toshiba laptop.

After doing a huge cleanup of the HD (removed lots of old programs, installed and ran CCleaner, Avast!, SuperAntiSpyware, Auslogics Defragger, etc.), the computer seems to work OK, but despite all the cleaning and defragging, is very slow. It would, though, be suitable for an underprivileged child who only wanted to use it for e-mail and Web surfing. But before we can give it to anybody, we need to remove all traces of the names of the former owners. I deleted their User Accounts, but they remain named under Documents & Settings. Windows does not allow you to delete or change the name(s) on user folders under D&S, not even in Safe Mode. So my first question is, is there any way to do that without rendering Windows unworkable? If not, am I going to have to reformat the HD and reinstall Win XP? I have a Win XP CD, so can do that, but do NOT have the driver CD. Is it possible to install Win XP so it's operable and thereafter download the drivers from HP's Web site?

The tower, has a removable mobo tray, thing is it does not appear to correspond to any of the ATX measurements.
Is it possible to replace the mobo tray, with a micro ATX compatable tray, and also buy a back plate suitable for the aforementioned Mobo?

Guys, I have looked all over the net trying to find a solution for this. Hope someone here can help.

My sister has a Compaq Presario that she bought new, with WinXPHome installed. It is completely fried...every keystroke takes at least several minutes to work. I defragged (didn't look bad....but took over an hour to complete) Nothing I did helped. She did not get any restore Discs, and there is no hidden partition on her HD. Windows restore only went back a couple of months...did not help.

I did notice even when new that it seemed sluggish. It is a Turion 64, about 1.6 gig, I think.

I did a Ghost (a several hour job!) of the HD (just in case), then formatted, after saving and downloading all drivers.
I have a Boxed XPHome full install CD, that my wife uses on her computer. I tried to use that disc, with my sister's number, which did not work.

I did put a full working XPPro on the Compaq, just to verify that it would work good. It does. Plenty fast, all the saved hardware drivers work. However, I can't leave it there, as she won't be able to activate it, besides which she likes XPHome.

Can anyone here tell me how to use my XPHome disc, and get it authenticated with her number?
Someone elsewhere said to use my disc, with my number to install, and then CALL Microsoft for an activation number, after telling them on the phone what I had to do. Do you agree with this?

Thanks for your help.

After lots of installs, uninstalls, and other acquired crap after quite a few years of use, I'm planning on reformatting my computer (specs are in profile).

I have a few simple questions which I hope you can answer. First, I have a single hard-drive that is split in two partitions: C:\ and D:\. The D:\ has always been locked down as a "recovery" drive. Can I just reformat my computer from the D:\?

If not, a few years ago, I made a set of recovery disks using the recovery creator. I am unsure on this, but when I made the recovery disks, will it restore my computer to the point when I created them (hope not), or will it completely reformat everything (what I'm hoping for).

I plan on doing a "destructive," clean install in order to completely reformat my computer to stock specifications.

Lastly, can I upgrade straight from SP1 to SP3? Or do you recommend that I use something like Project Dakota (or RyanVM) to bring me up to spiff with SP2, then make the final jump to SP3?

Thanks for the help guys. If you need more information or if I was unclear about something, I'll be happy to provide some more info.

Hi - thanks for your attention and help.

Saw this was posted before here but unresolved. That was years back.

I lost power last night, and now today, Compaq Presario SR1215CL is unresponsive. Was not moved, is plugged into a top notch surge protector, that also the printer, monitor, etc utilize and they are all operational.

There is a rapid clicking noise and a tiny green light in the back rapidly flashing.
When I unplug it, the clicking and flashing slows and finally stops.

Must stress this computer has been fine. No movement, impact, trauma, etc. Just power off and refuses to come back on.

Any advice? Have been Googling help threads before coming here. Thank you.

Hopefully I posted in the right section. But anyways I will be as detailed as possible. Currently I have a Compaq Presario CQ56 115dx running Wins7 out of factory. One day I was using my computer perfectly fine, everything normal and running great. I decide to close the lid to put it to sleep.

I come back later to find that it didn't actually sleep and was just stuck there. This has happened before and I would just turn off the computer and it would be fine. But recently I did and it is now stuck at bootup. The caps locks blinks 1 time, which corresponds to CPU not functioning I believe. I reseated harddrive and ram, didn't do much.

Then randomly as I am trying to get it to boot by turning it on and off, waited a few and it booted up normally. Perfect. Then I decided to shut it down instead of putting it to sleep just to find later when trying to get on, its back to the problem.

Any help would be appreciated on how to prevent this without any major repair work.

Does this mean i can't upgrade to 1GB per slot in order to have 2GB on this laptop?? If so was the software wrong?

I just got a Compaq Presario S5000NX second hand with Windows XP and so far it's working great. Naturally I have to reload some third party software, but so far so good. I use Altec Lansing speakers (3 pieces with subwoofer). There is absolutely no sound whatsoever, including system sounds. I read one post that said to plug the speakers into something else to see if it's the speakers (thank God for this site!) so I plugged them into my iPod and they work just fine. I am at a loss as to what to do. There are no system sounds, but whenever I plug them into the tower connector it makes a sound, so I know something's happening, I'm just not sure what.

I have Googled and searched all over for drivers, etc., but all I seem to be able to find are sites that charge for updating drivers. I'm not even sure I need drivers for these speakers, so I don't want to pay for something I don't even need. Ugh! Please help!

I'm working on my friend's Compaq Presario 1930 laptop, an oldie with Win98SE. I had him buy this wireless card, but I can't install the drivers. According to the info with the card, it needs a minimum CPU of 500 Mhz and 128 MB RAM. The laptop only has around 300 Mhz CPU capability and 64 MB RAM.

So I'm hoping someone here has experience with older laptops and can recommend a card that will work with minimal resources.

Thanks in advance!

Hi and thanks in advance for any assistance! My hubby is trying to fix an older laptop. It is a Compaq Presario 2700. It belongs to a buddy and had been working fine. Booted it up a couple weeks ago and got the error message "no operating system found". He brought it to my husband who is a little bit computer savy but so far hasn't had much luck. We blogged it (the error) and read post after post about them heating up and the screws or mounts breaking and about the screw kits. However, the CPU and heatsink were attached fine. The laptop doesn't shut down like it might if it were hot or overheating. We purchased a CPU (just incase) and installed it.. but still nothing so we bought another hard drive. The same error continues to come up. He's checked and rechecked the Bios (the only thing he can get into) and the hard drive is found as is the CD or DVD rom. He's tried formatting and booting from CD but nothing. He's hoping not to have to try a new motherboard... it's getting to be an expensive paperweight. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Is it possible that we should have changed the heatsink? it appears to be fine. Any ideas?

Alright folks,
I'm working on my Mom's Compaq 98SE Laptop and want to add memory. I can't find specs on the mainboard anywhere, to determine what this board is capable of taking, before I try to order. When I run the CPU-Z utility on the system, it gives me the following... Mainboard manufacturer: Compaq, Model: 05D0h (TBD), Memory: 64 MBytes SDRAM (in one slot), Slots: 2, Processor: Intel Mobile Pentium II 433 MHz.
Does anyone have a website reference (or outright knowlegeable advice) that I can follow to locate the technical specs for this board? Any other particulars as well would be appreciated. I do know for a fact that Compaq systems are very persnickety about proprietary hardware and software even. Any hints would be welcome.

I want to perform a Windows repair on a Compaq Presario desktop computer but the person doesn't have an OS CD. I think what Compaq does is put the setup files for windows on a seperate partition so you install it using their recovery console. However, if you do this then it reformats the hard drive no matter what. This is NOT what I want to do. So my question is, if I can get my hands on a Windows XP Home full install CD (The computer came with Home) and enter in the CD key that came on the side of the Compaq, will it work correctly? Thanks.

Hi there...I was trying to restore a Compaq Presario 5000 using the restore cd that came with it. Here's what I did.

1.Reset hard drive to all 0's (disk nuker type software)
2.Reformatted to FAT
3.Put in restore cd (which should contain the original Windows 98)

I get an error screen: "Compaq Recovery CD Error" and then it says: "Please Contact Compaq Technical Support". This doesn't really make any sense, because the directions say that you can restore your whole computer from scratch. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Hi,

One of my Compaq Presarios is doing strange things. When I plug it in, it automatically turns on. When it reaches the Compaq logo, it just stays there and nothing happens. One thing I notice is that the CPU light doesn't blink at all.

Does anybody have an idea of what is going on?

EDIT: The most recent time I plugged it in the fan started making this horrible noise (sort of like a high-pitched motor running at top speed combined with screaming).

I like to use a wireless mouse with my new laptop occasionally. Whenever I unplug usb adapter and replug, the laptop wants to install the drivers. I take the adapter out sometimes so it doesn't get broken off with a stupid move - if it's not possible to synchronize, I'll just have to live with the installation of drivers all the time. My 2nd question is - is that ok to do?

A:Solved: Synchronize wireless mouse to compaq presario

I use a Microsoft Mobile Mouse 6000, which has a reciever that only protrudes from the side of my laptop about 1/4". This is used on a Dell Ispiron 1525. When I do unplug it and plug it back in it activates the driver. But this is not detrimental to the system at all. I do not like using touch pads so I normally leave this reciever plugged in all the time even when I bag my laptop up for transport.

Hi

I am looking to reformat my Compaq Presario V5002EA laptop with windows XP home edition SP3. Having read various forums it seems there should be an option in my 'Start > All Programs' menu to begin a system recovery program. Within this program there should be an option to create a set of Recovery Discs from which I could do the reformat.

I can't find this option anywhere on the computer and would prefer not to fork out 31 to HP if I can create the discs myself! Can someone please tell me how to find the Recovery Disc Creator?

thanks in advance

I had little response to my previous question
http://forums.techguy.org/networking/1089381-puzzling-wired-connection-problem.html
so I went into device manager and deleted the 2 network adapters, rebooted and let Windows reinstall. Windows created a new Local Area Connection (LAC4, 2 and 3 are gone). It reads limited or no connectivity and is using Linksys LNE 100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter, just like the previous LAC2. The previous LAC3, which used the WAN Network Driver never got reinstalled. I don't get it.

Since a Linksys adapter on a wired connection seemed bizarre I tried to find what the correct network driver should be.

I Googled "Compaq Presario 5400US" "ethernet driver" OR "network driver" and was taken to an HP drivers page, which I guess makes sense since HP now owns Compaq
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=93284#N430
This page has nothing listed for chipset or network adapters. Really? This is becoming maddening. What am I doing wrong? Can someone at least point me to a site to determine and download a network driver? Please!

Repairing a COMPAQ Presario running Vista Basic.
My problems are that the OS wont boot fully, it stops and then freezes.

Then on restart BIOS will run through and give me a choice to repair or boot normally in which I select repair which then runs through until it gets to

!! 0xc0190036 !! 3005/67034 (icardagt.exe)

Here it stops and blinks the text infinitely.

I would provide an HJT log but I can't even get in to do that.
Considering that I can get the BIOS to go through I'm assuming software but if anyone has any ideas that it may be hardware please share. The only hardware that I believe would be a problem at the moment would be the HDD, however it ran efficiently when I was extracting data from it.

Any help regarding this would be appreciated

Thanks,

Annashi

Try a power drain.
1. Unplug power cord
2. Hold power button in for 60 seconds or more then let go
3. Plug in power cord
4. turn on the power and try to boot to setup (BIOS)

If it enters the BIOS then you should be able to just press F5 to reset to defaults and then F10 to save and exit. The PC should work now.

However, if after the power drain you still can not get in the BIOS than there is a MAJOR problem which would require some type of repair.

Hello lilevee22,

Before the problem started was anything added to or installed on the system?

Try booting to Last Known Good or Safe Mode.

Restart the computer during the boot process repeatedly tap "F8" you should get

the Advanced Options.

Let us know if able to get the system to boot with either option.
