Q: Printed documents show same heading

Anything I print off the web or email says "Network + Job Functions" at the top of the page and the date at the bottom. Sure, I've been to websites pertaining to the job functions but I never saved anything with that name. How can it be printing at the top of any page?
If I print a document that I made and saved from Wordpad, not anything from the net, it prints fine with no header. I looked at the printer settings dialog box and it shows nothing with this title.

If you are using IE, at the top of the page click on file and page setup and see what you have under header and footer. You probably need to change those.

This is something that has been bugging me for a while now, and I've been unable to solve this problem. Perhaps someone out there can provide some guidance.

Sometimes, I'm unable to print things (such as online coupons) because I'm told that my printer is set to "Keep Printed Documents." I've tried disabling this setting via the Advanced tab under the printer's properties. However, when I do this, click Apply then OK, and close the tab, the setting automatically reverts back to "Keep Printed Documents". Does anyone know why this is happening? It's sort of frustrating to not be able to set the printer settings the way you choose.

I appreciate any tips/suggestions you might have. Thanks!

I am creating a report that needs to show the beginning and ending dates to show up on the report.

Example: The report shows dates between 1/01/08 through 11/12/09 (multiple records)

The report heading would need to show: Annual Report Jan 2008 thru Oct 2009

Is there a way that I can use the dates on the report from a query to give me what I need?

Other than dogging the print preview, and struggling with the size in any pertinent image editing software, has anyone found a reliable way to limit or control the size of a printed web document?
to wit:
I scanned an odd shaped document, 3x8" to email to myself at another site, and the printed form was big enough for two pages. What a waste.
I print receipts regularly and they, 99% of the time have a "trailer" on a last page that has stuff like web site address or URL, a Secure Website emblem, or other, clearly unnecessary printing. My introduction to Windows word processing (WordPerfect) had, and I still use, a "makeitfit" command. Invoking such a command AUTOMATICALLY when printing from the web seems like a simple, brainless way to conserve'll give me a fractional font (e.g. 11.9 vs. a 12) and would prevent the idiotic tendency of a printed page to only have the leftward 80%, l which leaves off the important stuff like the prices...(you gotta print landscape to avoid this)
And I thought a computer was to make life easier, boy was I ever misled)

The problem is that web pages are usually coded to make them look good on screen, and that tends to make them "unfriendly" when printing.

Web pages designed for printing do exist, and it works well in those (few) cases.

Cutting and pasting into a word processor is sometimes the only workable solution.

When i try to print something the documents appear in my print queue then are deleted before they even begin to print, my printer was working fine until yesterday and now this

G'day steviejay, sounds like you have an intelligent printer that is censoring your output!
That is a worry, I haven't seen that problem previously.
You might try having a look in your control panel, system, devices or device manager, with a bit of luck when you scroll down through all your devices you will find a USB printer, (assuming yours is usb) if you open that item you should see something like "this devise is working properly" which is a good start for troubleshooting.
There should be no yellow exclamation marks on this item.
Are you quite sure your print queue in the print manager is being actually deleted?
What kind of printer is it?
The assumption is that it is a PC using a windows variant.

Hi all,

This should be an easy one, but I've been banging my head against it for a week. I'm hoping I've just been looking at it to closely and someone can take a look from a different perspective, smack me on the back of head, call me an idiot, and point to the obvious solution.

I'm trying to fix a home network. It consists of one desktop computer, two laptops, and a printer. The desktop is attached to the router by a cable, and has the printer, which is shared, and the laptops are wireless. Everybody is running Windows XP Pro, and this is Lexmark Z45 inkjet.

The problem is with printing. It worked until about a week ago, but now when the laptops send a job to the printer, it just sticks in the queue with the status of printing. The desktop can print, so it doesnít seem to be the printer. The laptops can see the printer, they can connect to the printer, they can send jobs into the queue, but then they just sit there.

Iíve reinstalled the printer on the desktop and the laptops, Iíve downloaded new drivers, Iíve restarted the services, Iíve attached to the share using the computer name as well as just its IP address, Iíve made administrator accounts on the desktop using the same username and password as the laptops use, Iíve made a separate printer account on the desktop and connected using that, and theyíre in the same workgroup.

I have Word 2013 that I have built Heading styles using multilevel lists. When I use import/export styles and copy my heading styles to another doc the first line with a heading applied is indented less than the style I that was imported. The indent is not changed in the paragraph dialog box but that one line has a different indent. Is this somehow related to the storage of style info in the manual line break of the line above? How can I avoid this?

Hi there. I have a feeling that I'm going to feel really dumb when I realize how to do this... but I've been baffled and nothing online has quite worked or applied to my issue. Here goes:

I'm running Windows 7, and have a habit of using the recent documents separated by program on the start menu. In other words, I'll go to Start, highlight Microsoft Excel (as it's a program I use regularly and therefore stays pretty close to the top of the start menu), and mouse over to the right to see my recent Excel documents.

Early on in my Windows 7 use, I had right clicked on some recent files and selected "Remove from this list" and they vanished from the recent Excel document list. However, I can't get them to ever come back.

I've tried resetting my recent document settings under Start Menu properties, even deleting "recent application data" files according to other sites. If I navigate to the files through the folders, I can open spreadsheets and have them show up, but the ones I've removed from the list will not show up, and I don't understand why.

I'm more than willing to provide any additional information, but hopefully someone can tell me this is a rather simple solution.

I have an Access database used on daily basis to enter and print the maintenance work order in a report format. I have assigned a command button to print the required record. On clicking the button in the Form, a parameter query will run asking the user to put the record number to proceed. Once the correct record number is entered in the parameter text box, the report is previewed and the user click on the print button to print the same.

My question is as follows:

Is there any method to find out the record i am going to print now was already printed before? A kind of record keeping for the printed records.

Also, a message box should warn the user saying incase if the record was already printed, ďThe record was previously printed, do you want to continue printing again?Ē

Please tell me a way to perform the above in my Form.

Using Win XP SP3. This morning, all the folders in My Documents, except Word Documents, are gone. Windows Explorer doesn't show them and Excel can't find saved spreadsheets and Picassa can't find saves photos. However, Nero does find all the files when I used it to see if the files could be accessed. Quicken also can find its' data files. I did mess around in the Folder Options of Control Panel yesterday to reveal hidden files in recycling that Trend Micro Antivirus said had trojans in them. I did not touch the files, I simply emptied the recycling bin. I have reset all my changes in Folder Options to the default setting. I am hoping the files are still there, just hidden or not accessible. Anyway to tell that for sure? I have a full backup from last week, and I could restore the registry to yesterday morning, but I don't want to do anything if the files are still on the drive. Thank you for any suggestions.

Maybe you inadvertently hide the folders. Open My Documents and in the address bar type something like My Music right in front of My Documents, for example; My Documents\My Music you're my music folder should appear. Now right click in an empty spot, select properties and uncheck the Hidden attribute and click apply. If this work, do the same for each folder.

Hi Guys

Basically I logged off one evening last week and when I logged on the next day everything was ok, or so I thought. Checked My Documents and found that the contents of all folders was not showing or had been deleted?

3.5 Gig of music and hundreds of pictures plus the usual text and word docs.

I am hoping you can help? I have purchased and run Recover My Files but have not entered the Reg key yet so have not saved results.

I had about 1500 desktop wallpapers which were in my documents and they are still running so does that mean I just cannot see them or has XP stored them elsewhere and I should abandon all hope!!

Following your advice after 72 hours with no reply I am typing;
I should add that my documents is 33 folders and 801 sub folders. I think the contents are still there, or at least I vainly hope they are. Could it be a virus or some malware has used the windows system to hide the contents in some way?

This is probably one of the strangest problems I've come across in my 10 years of IT / system support.

I have a brand new lenovo t43 that was just intalled last week. Ever since installation - this is the problem: if I have any window open (Outlook, IE, Windows Explorer) - and click the show desktop button - 5 second pause - then the computer shows the desktop.
If I use start / my documents - same pause (but if I double click my documents on the desktop - no problem). This problem either takes 1 1/2 hours to go away or around three or four reboots.

Here's where it gets weird:
If I boot without a network wire plugged in - I dont get this problem at all. If , after I boot, I plug in a network wire - this problem appears, if I unplug the wire - the problem persists.

This is occuring on my laptop as well as my co-workers (but not the veterans).

There is nothing strange showing up in task manager or event viewer (that is causing this problem).

I have already tried the msconfig disable everything fix and that doesn't fix it (which leads me to think its a Microsoft service running that only runs when a network is present).

Any ideas what this service might be? I tried disabling / stopping windows update (Automatic Updates) but the problem was still there.

If I open an mp3 file, it doesn't register in the "My Recent Documents" list.

After playing in Windows Media Player, MP3 files used to display in My Recent Documents. For some reason, XP suddenly decided to stop doing this (all other file types - except .wav - are displayed).

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am going through the library to make sure the files it contains are all in the correct folders. I have set Explorer to show full paths, yet when I open the library the file names are still shown as before.

Is there any way the full path can be made imediately visible without need to go to Properties?

It would make the process much quicker.

I recently went with the free version of Comodo Back-up upon guidance from my PC guy. Everything that I identified in my files was backed up on my external hard drive. I then took the free option of 5GB storage as well. Now I see ! exclamation points through all my documents and document folders encased in a gold circle. Is there a problem and is this the manifestation that my documents, etc. are being backed up off site?

I have an desktop running Window's XP connected to a router and my laptop running Vista is wirelessly connected to that.

I just had some trouble with a winsock error I guess. I figured that out but still can't print, which I could do at one point with the current set up, but something happened (maybe to do with the winsock stuff, maybe not--I haven't been able to print for some time).

I can send a document to the printer that is connected via a printserver from both my desktop and my laptop. It shows up in the cue, and then gets an error printing. I've tried several things without success. Does anyone have any suggestions.

I'm sure you'll need more info, which I will provide when asked for, as I'm not sure what info one would need.

I should also mention that I can't access the settings to my print server (D-link), but that everything on my network seems to be running fine.

I have a user on our network who has had a problem we have not been able to solve and it has started to become political. When opening word documents (Office XP) with pictures embedded -some are Visio drawings, the pictures won't show. If she clicks on the space where the pictures are, sometimes they show, sometimes they don't. It also locks her computer except her mouse which works just fine. No-one else has these problems, not even with the same document. The size of the document does not matter, nor does the location. She has gone through 3 new machines in the last couple of weeks while we have been trying to find the cause of the problem. Running Windows XP, we have not noticed any high CPU cycles, errors in the event viewer or anything. We have doubled the RAM in her computer with the same result. We have blown away her profile and let it rebuild itself. All is well for a while, then it comes right back. We run McAfee VirusScan which maybe is the culprit, but the system says otherwise. Does anyone have any idea what we could look into? All systems are patched to the latest.

I would like to have my "Documents" folder (not "Personal folder") to show on the right side of the Start menu (I think it is even the default, but at some point I disabled it).

On my other computers I do this by going right-click on the Start menu -> Properties -> Customize -> Documents: Display as menu.

However, it doesn't work and no matter which option I select, the folder is not shown. All the other option work (Downloads, Computer, Music, Personal folder, etc.), just not this one. I did change the My Documents position to D:\My Documents, but everything there seems to be in order (e.g. if I click on My Documents in the Explorer, it does take me to the right path).

I really don't know what else to try - I logged out, restarted, but no change.

Any help would be appreciated!

In my Trash, most of the unsubscribe links or links for further information are greyed out and do not work. Sometimes a web address is used and this can be pasted into the address bar to make it work.

Most of the trash items are rubbish but sometimes there is something which interests me. Why people post so many dead links that do not work beats me. I have been using several computers in the last few years and they have all done this. Perhaps it is my fault and I am doing wrong.

I am using Win 7. Any advice appreciated.

When I open internet explorer, i have lost the toolbars, address box etc that usually sit at the top of the page. The only way I can see them is when I move my mouse up to the top of the page, but it is only temporary. When I move my mouse back to within the page, then they disappear again.

On a "New" Pavilion dv4000 notebook w/XP I moved the heading >Hewlett-Packard< (contains (????) HP Pavilion PC Tools, PC Doctor) from the

Do a windows search for the files that you remember were in the folder. For those that end in a .exe extension, right click on each of the files that you want and click on "create shortcut." then, drag those "shortcut to . . ." files into the start menu

I have ordered a new desktop computer with an AMD 64x2 5000+ processor & 2 gig RAM. No software bundle in the deal other than Vista Home Premium O/S.
- Could I get some input on some of the compatible securityware that is out there? Over the years I have used ZoneAlarm, McAfee, Symantec, PC Tools software and (of course) Spybot. What befuddles me are the suites that are offered these days. I'm running an old version Norton firewall and when I queried Symantec about compatability with Vista I got a no go and a hard sell. Looking around I see conflicting info on what works well. The major mags give reviews of an 8 of 10 on suites and then individual users trash the products in their online reviews. I am no stranger to and am not above purchasing individual software but I don't know Vista and thought it prudent to inquire those familiar with the quirks of the O/S before purchasing and installing something that may slow down, cause errors or lock up my new toy.

Well, if you don't mind paying, there's McAfee Security Suite. I've been running it on the 30-day trial on my laptop and it seems to work alright. I do use Spybot S&D, which seems to be excellent as always. You can probably also use AdAware. If you're looking for free antivirus, there are AVG and Avast, both of which have worked well for me. For firewalls, I've read good things about Comodo. However, it's not yet compatible with Vista, so you'll need to sign up for the email alert for when it is.

I'd recommend steering clear of ZA. I had it a few years ago and it mangled my Internet connection and I read in another post about it causing BSODs on Vista.

Opera 10.5 has been released. It's incredible, that they didn't made a public RC version of their browser, and if they did, they sure removed it fast. It seems they are very cocky with their new browser. Hope that it doesn't crash a lot like the others.

Hi, I work in the area of assistive technology and am currently involved in improving processes to produce accessible materials for students who are blind or visually impaired.
The problem/oppportunity is when converting a PDF file (using ABBYY FineReader v9) to MS Word document, the OCR assigns heading styles to the headings throughout the text, (some erroneously as it seems to assigns a style wherever the font style changes) I would like to be able to pick up on those styles and map them over to Word's Heading Styles to create a more accessible document in Word. Does anyone know if and how this can be done?

Welcome to the forum. I am sorry that this is short and not as elaborate, but I am working within a short bit of time.

I am not familiar with the application that you are using, but you can click in one of the text selections with the new style that it created and then click on the "Styles and Formatting" button at the very beginning of the formatting toolbar. After this click on the drop-down arrow beside the style name that it created for you over in the taskpane on the right side of the screen and select the option "Select all # Instances." Then apply one of the other heading styles instead of the style that it made for you.

Hello all,
I am using office 2007.
I want to prefix the heading number to the lists.
2.3.4 This is my third level heading.

Here are the few list items: List Item1 List item2 List item3
Is this possible in word? Other way is to go for new heading level 4. But I want know if prefixing is possible.

Manual prefixing is possible using "define new numbering format". But if the heading number is changed, it does not get updated.

Your help is greatly appreciated. In case word does not have this feature, any other tools such as Frame Maker has this feature?

Hi pmahesha,

Not 100% on the way you have asked this, but I take it you just want automatic numbering for the different header levels.

Assume you know how to apply Styles to each paragraph / heading, you just need to then use a multi-level list.

1. Type your first list heading and apply Heading 1 Style to it from the Styles Group on the Home Tab.
In the Paragraph Group also on the home tab, select the multi-list option (that is the box 2nd top left with 1----, 2---- 3--- in it.)

2. Type your next list level heading and apply Heading 2 Style to it (you will see that in the Styles Group the number of available headings increases each time you use one, so although you only start with Heading 1 and Heading 2, you do get more)

Continue applying as many style heading levels as you like. so you would use:
Heading 1
Heading 2
Heading 3
Heading 3
Heading 2
Heading 3
Heading 3......

If you want to change the numbering format, use the drop down arrow in the multi-list box.

A month ago had same thing happening. Had entries called axel.dav on computer. Restored from old orginal backup disks when purchased in 2006 and got computer back to working order still had axel.dav entries and just deleted them because problem was gone. Redownloads was a long process I hated. Had to redownload most everything. My operating system is legal and been registered and checked out because when restored then had to get help from microsoft because network framework was not unpdating and bombing. This new occurence started yesterday 04/05. Since the first blinking occurence after restored I have been using IOBit software and Advanced System Care along with Norton Internet Security. Iobit did remove some stuff in registry the day before the 2nd occurence.
Norton Internet Security has been blocking trojans for about a week...maybe one slipped through but software hasnot found any. Downloaded Spybot the same day of new occurence. It said it removed gamevance and wild tangent. But,when I explore from start menu under program files windtangent is still there with titles such as apps/components/LFS/LicenseStores. Second run of spybot still doesnot detect wild tangent.
To be more specific about the blinking...the top bar of internet which is normally set to a blue color blinks as does the 3rd line of toolbar listing file/edit/view, etc. I can not click once to select any part of a sentence as in https line it highlights the entire sentence and continues to blink. Just want to update you that I went on to the Norton Help/support Chat site. With help of the tech imran khan we downloaded Norton Power eraser. I had tried that on my own but didnot work. He ran it while in remote and my computer no longer has the blinking occuring. Asked him to explain and he said I was infected with a virus. Is there any other suggestions here to follow up and make sure my computer is clean? Fan is still running high at times, which I think means high processing...used to get message from Norton. I have a strange "icon" that looks like a house showing on my Firefox heading (see snip). When my mouse moves over it shows a web page (, and when clicked on takes me to a Russian web news site.

I run MSE, SuperAntiSpyware, Mbam and CCleaner every night. I just finished running ESET Online Scanner, Trend HouseCall Scan and MS Safety Scanner. No threats found. I have all updates except IE 10.

sounds like the home button, usually when you click this it takes you to the homepage you have set or the default firefox google search page.
something has changed your homepage. to see this click tools/options in the window that opens look at the general tab and look to see what your homepage is set to.
you can easily change it.
visit the site you usually have set as your homepage,then click the url to highlight it. then drag the highlighted url over to the home button if you do it correctly it will ask you if you want to make this the new homepage or words to that effect.
as to how it changed, not sure maybe you ought to clear your cookies you can look at that in the privacy tab of the options window you just checked the general tab in

Recently infected with Adpeak, PC Optimizer Pro, and Scorpion Saver. I inadvertently loaded my pc with this junk because I downloaded games from MyPlayCity. I guess they were inclusive with the programs I truly wanted. (So much for wanting newer versions of Mahjongg!) So far I've gotten rid of some of the intruders by uninstalling the games I got, but now I'm having issues on startup with a missing background container dll. For the last few days I have had a problem with the Date: headline on the Sent Items page in MS Outlook. When showing expanded it says "next month" and messages are not the latest. If collapsed then the latest messages are shown.

Ideally the heading should be saying Date: Today expanded.

How can set this right. Your help is much appreciated.

When i go into Network on Windows 8 laptop, under the heading Computer i see my computer, under the Network Infrastructure header i see my my router, but sometimes under Phones i see odd phone names such as C1395 (Sony Experia) and today Paggioo (Prestigio). I have again a problem with my word. I am using quick style headers. And i am adding new topic title with number. In Main title, there is no problem about numbering but when i come to sub-titles, numbers become 1.1, 1.1.1, etc instead of 2.1, 2.1.1.. I tried to modify it but it doesn't work. So how can i get rid of this problem?

In Outlook Express there are options for Headings (e.g. To /From /Subject /Received /Attachment etc.

When I'm setting up in the emails RECEIVED section I want to know who the email is from but not who it's to (that's obviously me!) However, If I set it up as I want it - it also sets it up in the same way in emails SENT - whereas what I need there is to know who it's to but not who it's FROM (that's obviously me too!)

Hi, I am trying to create a macro to assign the heading level to the caption numbering.
To explain it better:
If a figure is under a heading 3, let's say 2.1.1, its caption should be 2.1.1-1
If the next figure is under a heading 2, f.e. 3.1, its caption should be 3.1-1

Sadly iI have very little knowledge of the methods and properties available under Word, so I don't know where to start: I fiddled with CaptionLabel and HeadingLevelForChapter but I have no idea on how arrange things up.

This should be so easy. I've a form which my user chooses her dates from a data picker. This is passed to vb which does some database processing and then runs a report using these dates. This seems to work fine; but I can't get the date to display in the heading of the report.
I've tried a text box with =[Filter] in but nothing comes up. It uses the form date in the where command.

This is a strange problem and fairly recent, though nothing was changed on my computer. What happens is every time I boot up my computer, the information bar at the top of windows and the web browser is black text, and the bar itself is very thin. It's easy enough to fix, I go to display->appearance and for type size I choose normal. It then goes back to the right size and color.

However, when I go to the display menus the type size is ALREADY chosen as normal. I click normal again and it changes, but it was already selected at normal to begin with, it's not like it was on something else and I changed it back. So that's odd. It's nothing serious, just annoying because I have to do it every time I start my computer. I took a screen cap so you can see what it looks like. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a relatively new user of Word 2007 and am trying for the first time to build a table of contents using Word headings.

I've set up Heading 3 as Level 3 but modified it to be a bulleted item. After the bulleted heading is some body text starting on the same line, text which I don't want to appear in the t of c.

In some cases, this is working the way I want without any problems. In other cases, later in the document, the body text shows up in the t of c, even if I assign it a different style than Heading 3.

When I look at the material in the Outline mode, I see that things look different when the heading is working the way I want versus when it isn't. In the former case, there is gray dot, bullet, space, heading text, and body text. In this case, the body text doesn't appear in the t of c. In the latter case, there is a larger gray dot with a white minus sign in it, bullet, less space than in the former case, heading and body text. In this case, the body text appears in the t of c.

I cannot seem to detach the body text from the heading, as far as the t of c is concerned. I've read several tutorials, but nothing is working.

For the problem entries, I've tried to duplicate the format of the cases where it is working the way I want, but without success.

Hi there,

I'm trying find a macro that will search all worksheets (have roughly 25) in a workbook looking for a value of "ERROR". When it finds that, to return the column heading in row 1 and count the times of each error. I need it to return the type of error and how many times that error type was occurred.

I have attached a sample so you can see what i would be working with. Based on the sample I need it to return the following results:

Open 4
Letter 3
Credit 2
Report 1
Close 1

In actual use there are many error types (I simplified for the example) so it would need to check and return any error that is in the sheet. I dont know if this is possible or how difficult it would be, but any help is much appreciated! Thank you

Hi I'm having trouble preventing Word 2013 from automatically formatting a document. I have defined a multi level list associated with the headings style. If I have a line of text that has a number at the beginning of the line, word will automatically apply the heading style that corresponds with the number when instead I just want to create a bulletted list. The little auto format lightning bolt drop down does not appear at all. I have turned off every possible auto format and auto correct option there is, but word is still changing the format. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't use Word much these days, but having a look through my Word 2013, I see you might be able to make changes. With Word open select Design from the top menu & over on the RH side is Paragraph Spacing, click on that & from the drop down menu select Custom Paragraph Spacing.
This will open a selection of tabs you can use to change your document settings.
Click on Edit & scroll down to find one that says List Bullets. You can also select New Style & this will give you a lot more options that you can change.
Also note down at the bottom there is an option to select for This Document Only or for all Documents based on this Template.

I have not tried any of these options, but give it a try & see how you go. If you regularly want to us this style you can save it as a template as a basis for future documents.

I am unable to print pictures completely. I print them from Picasa on HP photosmart C4250. When I try to print, although the preview is correct, the printed result is not. Part of a picture will come out, or the image starts at the end of the paper and is therefore incomplete. Until now, everything worked properly.

Whenever I print out an email from someone, the resulting document prints my first and last name (Outook Express) in the top left corner. I have 3 print queues that are retaining the printed jobs in the queue and every now and again the damn thing prints all the job again. I have checked that the keep printed jobs button is NOT checked/selected, but the queue acts ilke it is selected to keep printed jobs. I have 125 printer queues and only 3 act like this and they are set up identical to the others. I have reconfigured this twice on all 3 and they still act like they are set to keep printed jobs in the queue.

Anyone seen this and know of a solution, on the Microsoft site I am seeing posts but not a single reply about how to either run a job to clear them out a couple times a day or fix this so they act as configured. To NOT keep printed jobs in the queue.

Any help as always is much appreciated.

Hi all,

Well not sure if this is the right area for this but not really sure what the problem is.

When I boot my PC during the bootup dos stage I hear my PC making noises, it still boots up Windows 7 ok but as soon as I open something I get continious R type accross my screen, If I hit the caps lock it changes from R to r.

Thought it was my keyboard having the R locked down so tried to fix it, no luck. Changed keyboards with my spare one no luck. Disconnect all keyboards no luck.

So where is this R coming from, its impossible to us my PC at the moment as soon as you click somewhere (word, exel, Google etc) an R/r appears.

Any ideas where to start?

First I would like to say I'm a TBI survivor and I'm a male and 42 years old .
I was purchased an emachine computer with a Lexmark lasar printer,
Whenever I go to print something, be it a web site article or a personal document that was created using Microsoft Works Word Processor. Whatever is being printed my name appears at the VERY top and the city and state printed at the bottom.
I know little about computers so I'm trying to get an answer why this is being printed.
The only thing that I can come up with is MY NAME, CITY and STATE was somehow entered on this computer's Hard drive and is prints it because it's been entered by someone at the store before iyt was brought home and set up for me.

If there is someway that I can delete this info. being printed, PLESE tell me what to do EXACTLY!

That's very strange, it sounds like a 'Header and Footer' has been set up with that info and is in your template. (If Works uses such a template, I know Word does).
Try doing a Find (or Search depending on your version of Windows) for and rename any found to normal.old. Then test the printing again. If there is a problem you change the names back again.

Im using access 2010 and there is a print of a report like a certificate whenever needed. My office is requesting me to provide a report of all certificate printed including the date and to whom .
my only way to do this is to force users to enter a field print (yes/no) and from there the query "yes" and the report be printed.

The problem I am having is that when I go to print tax return forms from the IRS site or New York Tax Dept site, the form prints "short", that is, the last four or five lines of each page do not print.

You cannot save the data in these forms, they will only save as a blank form. Your only option is to print it.

However, although Adobe tells how to cure this problem ( by clicking File-Print and going down the menu which comes up to "printer scaling", then chosing "print to fit page", this only works if there is a
FILE menu on the left hand side of the page.

In these tax sites, the forms do not have a tool bar above allowing you to chose a FILE menu.
You can right click the mouse and chose PRINT, however it will print a cut off page.

SOOOOOOO do I either:
1. Get a standard Tool Bar to appear on top of the form, on these web site pages, or
2. use some other device or method to print these documents to fit the page.

If any of you are about to suggest right clicking on the printer icon PRINTERS, in the control panel, forget printer does not bring up anything about "Print Scaling".

I'm not sure where Adobe figures into tax preparation.

Don't print much multi page output, so am NOT sure when this problem began.

Originally, the pages on my HP DJ855C were printed as expected: page-1 first, then page-2, etc; this resulted with page-1 being on the bottom of the stack. Depending on the application being used, there was often a Print-Order option available for Back-to-Front printing so that the last page would be printed first and then page-1 would be printed last and be on the top in the stacker.

NOW, things seem to have reversed:
If I do NOT ask for the Back-to-Front, then I seem to get it anyway (i.e., page-1 last and on the top). but if I want the original order (i.e., page-1 first and on the bottom) then I must use the Back-to-Front option.
It seems as though the default has become Back-to-Front and then selecting the option for Back-to-Front re-reverses the order and the result is Front-to-Back.

Possibly this reversal happened when I went to Win/XP; possibly it happened with the installation of some piece of software.

Q. Has anyone else had this exxperience?

Please tell me where I might change some parameter to make the option of Front-to-Back actually print the page-1 first like it did originally?

Go into your printers and faxes options off of your start menu.

Select your printer, right click the mouse and click on printing preferences.
On the features tab at the bottom there is a option for start printing from last page. If there is a check mark in the box next to it, click there with the mouse and uncheck it and then click on apply and ok and you should be all set after that?

I have searched to find an answer to this problem of faded pictures when printed from windows photo gallery. I have seen a few others having the same problem, but no solutions. I am hoping that someone now can help.

I can print pictures from other software on my computer, from the internet, etc, with great photo quality. When I print from Windows photo gallery they are very light and faded looking. I have made sure the adjustments are for my printer.

It seems that most of the people experiencing this problem had canon printers. Does anyone have a solution to this?

I believe it is a problem with the "photowiz.dll" file in system32. It is version 6.x.xxxx.xxxx. I found an older version of this file, had to change the attributes and permissions of the file to allow it to be changed. I renamed it with an "dlx" extension and then copied a version 5.1 photowiz.dll to system32 and the print wizard works again! The site I got the file from is:

I've spent the last four hours trying to solve this/use info that's similar to my problem to no avail. I feel I'm so close I can smell the answer is near!

I have a form I use for work that I manually have to fill in 50 times a day with mostly the same information. This is definitely a job for a computer!

Ideally, I would like to open the spreadsheet and have a button that says 'Print' and it will print what I need - 50 forms with the right information.

So far I have done the following:

Created a custom page size (16cm x 14.7cm)
Scanned an original to use as a background so I can line up the information
Adjusted the Excel boxes to print the info in the right place.

Now I need to print the following number ranges as identifiers:

1 - 22, 29-42 and 51-54

I feel I'm close with using this macro:

Private Sub Workbook_BeforePrint(Cancel As Boolean)
[copy] = [copy] + 1
End Sub

I use both Excel 2003 and 2007, depending on where I am!

I have NO experience of macros until today, so any advice is very welcome.

I doubt that I can post this question here but I assume it'll be removed if not.

I have an HP printer, 2540, wireless printer. Works fine.

I started to print a pdf file. Because it was a large file I choose the 'booklet' option, which prints 4 pages on one side, then, when everything of the even numbers (I think, not sure) has printed, you will get a message on the pc telling you how to replace the already printed pages in the printer so it can print on the backsides.

When I saw the first batch I decided I didn't like it. So when the message with instructions on how to replace the already printed paper, I went in the printer's menu, highlighted the name of the document and did 'cancel'. In this printer menu it now said it was 'deleting' the document. But it didn't. I waited about half an hour. I turned the printer off and back on. I closed the document. But still the printer menu said 'deleting'.

I opened the document up again, changed the settings for the printer (as in one sided, normal size) and accidentally hit 'print'. I then noticed that - in the printer menu - the 'new' document showed up above the one that still said it was deleting. But it still didn't print. I went in the print menu again and highlighted the new document and did 'cancel' and it did cancel it.

But the old document is still sitting there, 'deleting'. I can not get past that. Any suggestions wo... Read more

There's a way to force these to delete, if you don't mind a little typing. You need to open a command prompt by running cmd.exe. If you're unsure of how to do that, tell me which operating system you're using and I can walk you through that. This should open up a black window, and you need to type in the following commands sequentially, hitting the Enter key after each command.
net stop spooler
del %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers\* /q /f /s

net start spooler
The first command stops the printing service, allowing you to carry out the second command, which deletes any jobs in the queue. The last command re-starts the printing service, and you can try running a test print. Once that's all done, you can just close the black window.

I have printed photos from e-mails before, but never had a problem with moire patterns. This time I have a fine vertical line pattern that is not clearly seen unless you have glasses on that magnify them. Unfortunately, I wear glasses that bring them out. What can I do to prevent or get rid of the moire? Any ideas? Thanks, lilart

It likely just a matter of the resolution of the email derived image vs the resolution of the printer. Does it happen with every image or just the lower resolution ones from the emails?

Hi, when I print anything from the web (Amazon receipt for example) the 'Print preview' and actual hard copt print appear as source code (similar to lots of DOS type commands etc) and very small print size. Only happens in Internet Explorer 7.0 -tried using Firfox and that appears okay- any suggestions -anyone? (thanks in anticipation)

open IE, click tools > internet options > advanced tab

click the reset button

This will put everything back to default options and all is good!

I'm trying to print images/pictures using windows photo viewer and I get this error "Your pictures can't be printed because this error occurred".... It doesn't tell me which error.. simply just says that in the dialog box. THe dialog box comes out like 4 times with the same message and I have to click OK.

I've already tried googling it and the only fix I can find is replacing photowiz and I already did but it has fixed. I've also installed Photo Gallery and it stil lgives me the same error when I try to print and picture. I've also reinstalled all my printer drivers...

Fill color isn't displayed during normal viewing of a worksheet. When the worksheet is printed or print-previewed, the colors are visible.

Re-installed Excel, problem persists.

Go to your control panel and double click on Accessibility Options.
Click on the Display tabsheet and uncheck "Use High Contrast" then press OK to close that window. You should now be able to see color in your view mode.

I have had my problem for some time and had a work around which is no longer applicable hence I get a white screen where message should be so I don't know what is being said.

My problem started about 6 or 8 months ago on Outlook Express. At that time I was using dial up and changed over to with their e mail program Total Access. My problem immediately disappeared. One month ago I switched over to High Speed and the person doing the custom install saw I used Outlook Express so he reenergized (non computer word) the program. The custom installer saw my INBOX with about 30+ messages that go back a long way. EACH ONE LINE description was complete, meaning To: xxx,
From: YYY, Subject: ZZZ, and anything else that showns on the ONE LINE.

When I double click on one of the inbox messages I FIND MY PROBLEM! Everything that showed before is shown again, but now greyed out since it has to do with basics. HOWEVER, the text area (where the message should be) is 100% pure white. I have double clicked all 30+ messages and get the same thing,...a pure white screen.

I thought it might have something to do with installing SP-2 on my XP Home Edition BUT SP-2 was installed about 6 months ago and my e mail problem started about 8 months ago.
That is my problem! Can anyone offer suggestions?

So if I understand correctly, you can send and receive emails ok.

The problem lies in that the messages you receive are blank inside?

If you run your mouse over the inside of the message, does anything show up in the highlighted/selected area?

Perhaps your fonts have a white color?

Are you able to create a new message and see the fonts inside?

Hey, I have a person here that has the problem that drawings that she has in her documents donīt print out. Iīve tried turning off background printing still same, Iīve tried printing it on my printer and that works.

Anyone have any idea on any settings or something I can change to make it work?
