I have a nvidia riva tnt2 model 64/model 64 pro pci bus videocard.
The other day I bought the follow up of MOH (sorry forgot the name because returning it to the store)but ofcource you already see the problem rightaway:error log file of the game told me the card was missing out on some functions. Can this card be updated so "heavy duty games won't be a problem in the future?(il2/fb-wolvenstein-cfs2 run good though!)

Thanx for listening!

A:nvidia riva tnt2 model 64/model 64 pro update wanted

Well...you can get the latest drivers for the card, but it won't help that much, because it's a TNT2...and PCI....

If you wanted to play newer games, you'd have to get a new video card....but if you're running a PCI video card right now, then it may not be worth it...check if you have an AGP slot, is should be above the PCI slots on the motherboard, and slightly offset from them...if you have an AGP slot, then that's good, because you could get a good video card...but if you don't, you'll probably be better off getting a whole new system rather than just upgrading the video.

I have the Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 / Model 64 pro video card and i want to install a game but the video card has to be in 256 color mode and in Windows i can only go to 32 bit what can i do? Any comments or posts would be great! Thank YOU!

A:Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 / Model 64 pro Problem?

Just to be clear, 32-bit is actually 16,777,216 colors, so its much more then 256 which is just 256 colors. So for 256 you need to lower the color depth not increase it.

Does the motherboard have on-board video too? If so, use the on-board video until you get the TNT Riva driver sorted

I recently reformatted my computer's harddrive, and I've been working on getting everything back to it's normal working order. I'm having issues with my video card. It should be installed correctly, I haven't taken it out at all, and it worked a while before the reformat. I think I have the correct driver installed (This one).

But when I plug the monitor into the video card's plug, the monitor won't show anything, it's just blank with the little light, normally green, glowing orange. When I go to the System Information, the only video card that shows up is the one on the motherboard.

Am I using the correct driver? Any other possible solutions?

A:nVidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 issues

G'day Redalert95, I gather you have onboard video and that is working but your card is not. It is not a good idea to plug video leads if the machine is running, it could quite easily kill something.
It is possible that you may need to disable the onboard video in BIOS to allow the daughter card to operate.
This makes it odd that it may have changed from previous settings which were apparently working OK.
If this might be correct it may be pertinent to replace the battery at this time before going any further.
Your board manual BIOS settings should help determine what is happening. In some machines if you plug in a video card the onboard is automatically disabled, but your note does not infer this to be the case, therefore it seems you are going to have to carefully follow the BIOS set instructons in the manual. You likely have an onboard enable somewhere. The LED showing orange instead of green simply indicates no information is being received by the monitor.
You should not need any driver to be loaded to give your card operation for the monitor to operate in a basic mode.
The proper driver will only give the thing all the colours and abilities you are used to normally seeing.
Be extremely careful and ensure the power lead is removed anytime you plug items like cards, and ensure your follow antistatic rules.
Cheers, qldit.

I went to get the drivers for it from NVidia's site, but when it unzips them and attempts to install them, it says that there aren't any compatible cards in my sytstem. Any Ideas?

Hi,
I'm putting a new motherboard in my PC (Asrock p4v88) and in the instructions for the board is a note (do not use a 3.3v AGP on the AGP slot of this board). I hope to fit my old video card into the new mthbrd, it is a NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 64 PRO. I haven't a clue what the voltage is of my video card. Can I fit this old card in or do I go out and purchase a new video card of a known voltage?

Thank you
Donald Ashton

A:Need The Voltage Of My Nvidia Riva Tnt2 64 Pro

I don't recommend using that card in that machine. Not only is there a risk of it damaging the slot, it's also an incredibly old and slow card, if your new motherboard has onboard video it is likely faster than that TNT2-M64.

I continue to get intermittent screen messages that I have a problem with my Nvidia graphics driver, occasionally causing shut downs and generating error messages to microsoft.
Although possibly completely unrelated, I also find that my computer shuts down on its own if left alone about 30 minutes, and when turned back on, goes through an odd reboot on its own whcih returns me to where I was before leaving.
The microsoft proposed solution is to download a new driver off the Nvidia website though they also say Nvidia has no solution to the problem. When I go to the Nvidia website, I can find a downloadable driver for XP. (www.nvidia.com/object/driver_installation_hints.html) , though the instructions request me to:
1- disable download accelerator utilities ( How do I find if I have any? I recall loading one at one time, but can't remember if it was on this computer, or find anything suggesting this on my start menu)
2-turn off my virus protection- can do
3- remove Nvidia display drivers from the control panel using the add/remove function.- I can't find any. However, I do find reference to them in my systems folder listing a TNT2 nmodel V 5.6.7.3 dated 4/7/04. It seems odd that I have a listing in the latter, but not in the former. It also seems odd that they would request the removal of the old one first. Will my monitor work if its removed??
Thanks for any assistance

Hello Experts,

I have purchased a Graphic card PALIT DAYTONA nVIDIA RIVA TNT2 M64.

I am going to install it in GIGABYTE P4 Titan GA-8IRX, REV: 2.0, DDR RAM, motherboard. This motherboard support only AGP 4x (1.5V) card due to Intel 845 chipset can’t support AGP 2x(3.3V).

nVIDIA RIVA TNT2 M64 card has a jumper port JP1 which is open. Is it AGP 4x mode by default? Or I have to set jumper to make it AGP 4x.

Please suggest me how I install the card in the above-mentioned main board. I am waiting for your advice soonest possible.

Thank you.

If you are still using this old video card in your Windows XP desktop(like I am in one of mine), the NVIDIA ForceWare 61.77 and 66.93 drivers are the ones that you want to install and use. If you try to install and use the 71.84, 71.89, or newer versions, they will NOT install. I have done some experimenting and have confirmed this.

Support for TNT2 ended quite some time ago. I'm surprised you can even make a TNT2 work with Vista at all. Even for XP you have to go into the legacy drivers and download one of the older drivers that still includes TNT2 support from the nvidia website.

i can't even bet a boot with a nvidia riva tnt2 model 64 w/8mb ram on a MainBoard TXpro-II or a knock-off replica thereof. funny thing is: the card workes fine in another comp with a diff mobo (this one, a spearfish with a xeon 450 pentium 2) and to add to insult, a couple of old junk video cards WILL work in the TX-proII. i also have an Aopen socket 7 mobo i could use for this system but the exact same story applies: the junk video cards work in it but not the tnt2 card which i just bought. by junk video cards i mean they have bad memory chips on them and they have garbage mixed in the on-screen display which makes them kind of useless except for getting a system to boot at all. if it matters they both have S3virge chips on them. running win98 fully updated with ie 5.5 also fully updated. have the latest nvidia drivers avail but of course haven't gotten that far. i did, however remove all the old drivers from device manager and found no nVidia references in the registry to delete at all. any clues would be highly appreciated. thanx, JL

I've downloaded and installed the Nvidia 61.76 video drivers(the most current version for 98SE) for this video card, but it refuses to get out of 16-color, 640 X 480 resolution mode. Every time I start up and Windows loads, an error message appears with the following:

There is a problem with your display settings. The adapter type is incorrect or the current settings do not work with your hardware.

Any suggestions?

do you guys know what my problem could be? my pc hangs/restarts whenever it has to render some 3d graphics, or even when it simply has to use directdraw or direct3d. it even hangs when i press the "test direct3d" button in dxdiag. it even hangs when i use the drawing tools in microsoft word!

Hi..
I just performed a clean install of windows xp professional edition on a freshly formatted hard disk.
Here is my current hardware configuration:
PIII 500Mhz, 192Mb Ram, 16Mb Riva Tnt 2 Pro Graphics, Asus P3v4x motherboard, creative vibra 128 sound card..

I have a problem with Direct draw. whenever i try to test direct draw thru dxdiag, my screen flickers a few times and the my computer hangs. I have now diabled direct draw acceleration. I have tried the latest Nvidia Detonator xp drivers (2.1.83) as well as the default drivers that came with xp. There is still no difference.

I could use direct draw and direct 3d with the same hardware setup on my previous system, Win ME. All the directx games ran fine there.

Please let me know what the problem is as this is the only glitch in an otherwise impeccable system..

Thanks,

A:Anybody know the power requirements of a NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 16mb graphics card?

Couldn't find a quick answer to this but if the "old" machine runs okay as it is then it should have no problem with the TNT2 card. They are a pretty old card and were designed for the machines of the day which (by today's standards) were pretty slow and didn't need a huge amount of power to get them going. I assume the "old" machine has a AGP slot to fit the card into?

can / has anyone here know of a fix ???

what has happened and what i have done todate

tried to load w2k pro with tnt 2 card in no joy passed install s/w saying setup is installing windows 2000 (or something like that).

pulled card out installed via onboard video card (install a snap).

thought i´d try again to get tnt 2 card to work now w2k was installed.
put card into pci slot #3 auto detect found it upon startup all is fine.

checked driver (default MS driver).

restarted pc, turned onboard video option off, pc starts again starts good.

Goes no further than the windows 2000 screen with @ 18 blue dashes that go across a wee bar. system just sits there.

turn pc off and on.

on initial start bar (B&W) i press F8 select safe mode with network (not that i have a network connected) stops at same place.

again turn off / on pc and change the onboard video card to active.

pc starts win2k starts fine look the net for newer drivers.

got 2 drivers ( called something like ) 66.3 and the other 44.3 (these are the directory names created under Nvidia).

loaded each on in turn same problem as outlined above for both.

from research the card is supported but cannot get the bl**d thing to go.

OK, here goes. I have a 32MB Nvidia TNT2 Ultra video card. However MOST of the time, the system won't recognize it as anything other than a standard VGA card. Every now and then it'll actually show as the correct card and when that happens it works GREAT (for a while), then all the sudden it's back to standard VGA again.

This happens in 98SE and 2K, I have 2 older Rage cards that I have no trouble with. Unfortunately I DON'T have another machine that I can put this card in right now.

Have all the latest drivers (that I can find) for everything, problem has persisted through a reformat and reload.

Hi, In my PC I have an Nvidia GeForce GTS250 1GB, I am looking at getting a new game 'King Arthur Fallen Champions', the sys req says recomended GPU is a 9800 GT 512MB. I have read in the web that some GTS250's are rebranded 9800's, this leads me to believe that the two cards are on par as far as performance? Am I correct, will my GTS250 have any issues running this game?

Thanks,

A:Nvidia old and new model comparison help please.

If I recall corrctly, the GTS250 is actually just slightly faster than the 9800GT.
Granted, its not by very much.

While that game does need the GPU power, its also more of a CPU heavy game.
But I think you'll be fine with your E8400.

The game isn't nearly as demanding as TW Empire for example.

Have you played the K.A Games before?
I can tell you right now, if you absolutely hate games like Rome Total War, you probably will not like it. If you do enjoy those type of games youll have fun with it.
They are much like a Total War game, only with RP elements. Its set up a bit different, but sorta has that TW gameplay feel to it.
I like it myself , but its not everyones cup of tea.

If you didnt realize, thats a stand alone expansion. Theres also the main game itself (King Arthur the Role Playing War Game)
I do not have the stand alone expansion myself, but I would guess that the full game may have more content.. not 100% sure though.

At any count, I think youll be fine.
You may not be able to have all settings at MAX, like view distances on a battlefield, but you should be able to play the game well.
Your system exceeds the Min requirement, and much closer to recommended.

I swear I'm never messing with linux again. It's a great operating system when it works, but when it doesn't, it will screw everything up.

OK, so I removed the linux partition from inside windows. But it was still trying to boot into ubuntu, because of grub. Well, I used this recovery cd to try to fix this, but it was a factory recovery cd for an dell laptop (N5050).

Well, the computer is actually a dell inspiron all in one 2305.

I'm currently using windows and it's working correctly, just displaying wrong model (probably wrong drivers as well).

Anyways, linux is still installed and the computer thinks it's a dell laptop.

I forgot to mention one thing, the optical drive doesn't read cd's. But I can boot from a usb.

So, what can I do to fix the situation, and I solemnly swear to never use ubuntu again!

A:System info shows wrong model, how to remove grub?

Just an update, I was able to remove ubuntu and combined the partition with windows, and restore the mbr using easyBCD (Highly recommend it)

How can I make sure that windows recognizes my computer as a dell inspiron one 2305?

Sometimes the screen basically "blips" and I get this message: Displaay driver NVIDIA windows kernel mode driver version 327.02 stopped responding and has successfully recovered. Other times the screen freezes and I can't do anything until I unplug the computer from the wall, plug it back in, and push the start button on the top of my monitor.

Today the screen "blipped" at least a dozen times, and completely crashed three times, all within less than 18 hours: 7am to 2:30 am.

Please tell me what to do, and please know I am no techy, so in basic English, please.

THANKS SO MUCH!

Karenwby

Recently I bought this new v.card and can't play any games(like Urban Chaos, Age of Empires 2). I just start the game and it automatically exits in a few seconds. Sometimes it does start but then after some time of playing it exits again and the comp. crashes('hangs'). I could play these games with my old card though!
I have already downloaded the latest drivers and really don't know what to do else. Could it be that these games don't 'know' this card and don't want to work with it or what?

I recently bought a TNT2 card. I installed , downloaded the lateset drivers from the nvidia website (41.xx) and ran it on my WinME system.Problem is when the computer starts ,before the BIOS and memory check, the amount of memory shown is 32 MB.While in Windows the driver shows only 16 MB (display properties-advanced-nvidia TNT2 Model 64). I had purchasd the card with 32 MB. So does this mean that in Windows only 16 MB is used ? How can I correct this error ?

Thanks

A:Nvidia TNT2 M64

some of your ram might be bad.windows should pickup the whole thing or not at all.I have a tnt pro 2 with 32mb.
try removing it puting your old card back in restart then shut down and put the tnt back in and make sure it is in evenly and firmly pushed in if it's not you could have problems.and then restart again.reinstall the drivers.
All internal work must be done with power off.
if you changed from pci to agp make sure that enabled is set in the BIO for AGP. It should work but it is a little finiky if it wasn't pushed in just right.so leave the case off untill you get it right because you might have to remove it a few times untill you get it right. good luck

I have an Elitegroup motherboard with SiS620 chipset, and I've installed a pci nvidia tnt2 m64, but now lockups occur in 3d games, and sometimes in the Windows GUI.

Sometimes alt+ctrl+del will get me out of it in the GUI; it gives me a blue "system busy" screen and then I can click cancel on the close program dialog and everything's fine.

Sometimes it stays locked when I hit alt+ctrl+del, and it always stays locked in games.

I'm running the detonator 5.13 beta drivers, which are said to tbe the most stable. I have tried the latest drivers (12.xx), but with those the problem is worse because once it locks alt+ctrl+del never works, and the lockups are more frequent.

I've tried adjusting latency timing, looked for conflicts and tested power settings and everything seems fine... what could be the problem?

Thanks.

Wondering how you disabled your sis chip, this from the sis web site about adding pci card to a 620 system

If you add on a PCI VGA card on a AGP/Super AGP VGA based board (like 5600+6326, 530, 620), you
will need to set up the display priority. Every board maker has her way to do the setting. Some of them will implement
it in the BIOS, in the item "Integrated Peripheral","Initial Display First", you can choose "PCI slot". However some other
makers do the setting by jumpers, you need to refer to your manual or contact the makers for further help. The best
solution is to ask help from your board maker. However if you don't know who the maker is, you can track from the
store where you buy the computer, or ask any local pc dealer if they know there's a way to help you. After you
finish the hardware part, you can remove the our vga driver from your system. Please go to "Control
Panel","Add/Delete programs" to remove the driver. Please don't care about the exclamation mark that appears in the
Device Manager, if you have already install your second card successfully. It won't influence your VGA display.

Hey, guys. What NVIDIA driver (Detonator or Forceware) should I use under Windows ME with a Riva TNT2 Pro to get the best quality and performance? I am asking this because I noticed that (under RPGMaker 2000), using the original Windows drivers showed no flicker. But, when I used the 45.23 drivers, sure they were fast in Direct3D applications. But in RPGMaker, flicker starts to appear. It's not so bad that it is unplayable, it's just really annoying. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

ive got a p4 1.6 ghz

Unless someone has made a third-party patch that somehow simulates hardware T&L, then no, I'm afraid the only way to get it to work is by getting a newer video card.

Hi - I'm new to the boards and have a question I hope someone can help me with. I have an old Dell Dimension 4100 that is running windows me and it has an nvidia tnt 2 video card. My son recently purchased Call of Duty and it doesn't seem to work on this system. I keep getting an error message that I need to upgrade my video card. I think I need a pci express card, but I'm not sure so my question is how do I figure that out and can anyone recommend a video card that is not too expensive? The system is 6 years old and I really don't feel like investing a ton of cash into it. It does have 256 mb of ram, that I know as well as an pentium 3 processor, 20 gig hard drive (small I know in this day and age) and is running @ 933mhz. Thanks in advance for the help.

A:Upgrading an nvidia tnt2 card on an old dell 4100

You need an AGP video card.Given the age of your computer you probably only have an AGP 4x slot so I would recomend an ATI Radeon 9200 or 9250. anything more powerfull than that wouldn't give you any significant improvement due to the speed of your processer and slot. upgradeing your ram to 512 mb wouldnt be a bad idea either.
Video card:

RAM:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820136009

regardless of what video card and ram you get that game will probably only run on medium settings due to your processer.

I'm helping a less-technical friend with an issue on her older Thinkpad, which she was given by a boss.  Before I ask any specific questions though, I obviously need to know which model she has so that I can post to the right category. I'm not very familiar with Thinkpads myself so forgive my questions. (I have looked in the FAQ but didn't see what I need there.)

I asked her the model number and she found this on the computer:

Type 2373 - 7CU S/N [deleted for privacy]

I googled a bit but Type 2373 does not appear to be a model number because I've found T40, T41 and T42 (at least) that all indicate Type 2373. T40, T41 and T42 are model numbers, right? How do I get the model number from the information I've provided? Or do I need more information, like a serial number? I'll be seeing her tomorrow and can gather anything I need at that point. She says the laptop has an IBM logo, not a Lenovo logo, so I assume this is a fairly old model, dating back before IBM sold off its PC hardware business.

Also, may I suggest that determining what model you have should be added to the FAQ? It seems like a very fundamental thing that you absolutely have to know to get any further information.

Also, may I request that this post NOT be moved to a more appropriate place (if there is one) until I've had a chance to read the answer to my question, otherwise I may not find it. I'll acknowledge the answer when I see it so you know it's safe to move it to the p... Read more

Can i use a model 525 (said to be clocked 20Mhz lower)? They are both the same GPUs, and some sites says that it doesnt matter as long as the gpus are the same, but what can i expect with the small speed difference? Would they both have to operate at 430MHz? or should i try to overclock the lesser one?

I have been getting a message saying that a driver failed when trying to play games. The games I play are WoW, and trying to play cos:s, cod black ops, ect. This is the only time it happens. I tried updating my drivers and currently have the newest. The error message I get is igfx driver has recovered from a failure. I am looking at getting a new video card to fix the problem. Will this fix the problem?

The card I have been looking at is: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814139050

Power Supply:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371048

I don't know if these are compatible to my computer, because I don't know how to check, any help would be great! Thanks!

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite laptop. I was given it by my company, and now, 10 months later, they want to make a log of everyone's hardware so they want the model number of the laptop. But I can't find it! The book that came with it is about the 1800 series, but which one I have specifically I just don't know. I've looked in system info and tried finding it in dos and with the "find" function....I'm at a loss. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I have a 2 month old 2 in 1 MIIX2.  When I try to acces the internet I'm only on for a few seconds before it defaults back to the tiles/start page.  I'm told by customer service that it is a software problem and therefore they can't/won't do anything about it and refer me to a 3rd party pay for service support company.  That's pure and unadulterated BRAVO SIERRA and they're messing with the wrong person if they don't think that I'll tie their customer service agents up by spending hours on the phone getting someone in management to fix the problem or send me a new one.  Acer/Gateway tried that on a real lemon that I bought last year and eventually had to send me a new one when I invoked the three times and your out lemon law,  The good thing is that it was more than twice as good as the original.  In the meantime I spoke to an outside "tech" who suggested I download new drivers on a flash drive in another PC and install them on the MIIX2, but couldn't even figure out how to that as it was impossible to find the proper (if it exists) link to do that. I thought about running a restore to see if that helps but it indicates that many pre installed apps will be uninstalled and need to be reinstalled by "non existant" software or factory disc.  That's also a lot of BRAVO SIERRA.  I was succesful in creating a factory restore flash drive and wondered if that would reinstall everything if I ran either a factory reset, or a refres... A:I need to know my mobo model.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

I have moved your post to it`s own thread.

Download the free Everest programme and/or the free SIW programme. If they don`t help you to identifiy your mobo, then you`ll probably need to open your case and look on the mobo itself.

I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out what or where the model number is on my Lenovo.. I has Z546 on the back along with an N14608.. But neither of those numbers pulls anythign up at lenovo's site when I'm searching for drivers or parts etc...  I was able to find the proper battery though using the battery model number..  So I guess my question is - Where is my model number on this thing? I've tried every number I can find and it just isn't pulling up my laptop..anywhere..when I search for it..

A:Where is my model number???

Check their support area. Typically its on the back and/or under the removeable battery if its so equipped. Doing support search via Auto Detect give both model and serial#'s

Hi guys,

I am having a few problems after installing WIndows 7 RC...
I found that I couldn't use many programs and basically I just didn't like it so I decided to go back to my Windows Vista, unfortunately when I installed Windows 7, it had erased my recovery drive and I wasn't aware. I had never made a recovery cd either and I didn't get one with the laptop, hence the recovery partition. Anyway, since installing Vista again, I have noticed lots of new problems which before I didn't have.
Unfortunately, I cannot find the right drivers for my model, I have been looking on all of the Sony sites, when I try to install them, althought they say they are for my model, they don't let me install.. Also, I cannot install any of the Sony Vaio applications that I had before as they are not available for download from the Sony website.
Since re-installing Vista, my laptop doesn't recognise my battery, when I plug it in my computer says that the battery is not the correct model and I should try another one, although it is the same one that came with the computer...
My DVD drive will not read CDs and has now given up burning DVDs. I have an external drive but every time I plug it in, the computer freezes, even having disabled the internal drive in device manager. I have opened the laptop to check if all the wires were in place and even cleaned the DVD drive, but nothing.
Also, I since re-installing Vista, I always have an Unknown Device listed in Device ... Read more

These two batteries look identical, same model number, but:

http://www.brilliantstore.com/battery/laptop/uniwill_bl6301.htm

http://cgi.ebay.com/Li-Ion-Battery-...ryZ11169QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Now, they both have the same model number, but... the voltage varies from 10.8 to 11.1. And the mAh varies from 4000 to 4400...

My current (broken) battery is 10.8 Vdc, 4000 mAh.

I've also seen this battery advertised as 10.8/11.1 Vdc. Is it safe to let the deviation stand? Are they still identical?

A:Battery model has different mAh and Vdc.

Its close enough its not going to matter.

I recently purchased an HP motherboard with processor, ram and power supply. This deal didn't include a hard drive, case, or required graphics card. The seller could only tell me it was an HP Envy and I have been trying for days now to cross reference the HP model number by hardware. Here is what I have:Motherboard model M3970CM HP Angelica Rev 1.2.10GB Ram (2x4gb 1x2gb)AMD FX 6350 Processor460w power supplyI can't get a strait answer anywhere about the motherboard. All I find is information about m3970hp motherboard or angelica2. Any information would be greatly appreciated because I only get 6 long beeps and a black screen when I turn it on. That is a related but different topic for another thread.

Hi,
Is it possible to identify the mobo without opening the PC up? I need to download some drivers but have no idea what the mobo is.

I know it's a Foxconn, but that's about it!

If I have to open the PC up, where would I find the model details?

Thanks in advance

A:How do I ID the mobo model?

You could try downloading the free Everest programme from HERE. See if that can identify your mobo.

If not, open your case and look for the mobo model number, it`s probably printed on the board inbetween the pci slots.

Regards Howard
