Iomega software work with Mini USB Drive?

Q: Iomega software work with Mini USB Drive?

Looking to replace my old Iomega Zip Drive with a much smaller and quieter, and larger storage capacity Iomega Mini USB Drive. Currently, have Iomega Sync automatic backup software which came with the Zip Drive. Iomega pre-sales support who I contacted says their Iomega Sync software should work with their Mini USB Drive, but they have not tested it. From experience, does anyone really know if this will work?

I've Iomega hd with Norton Ghost software. I was creating the backup from the Ghost when I saw the error about the either onboard or PCI port card. I have the hub on my computer. Can anybody help me?
Thanks, Bob

A:Iomega hd with Norton Ghost software problem

They seem to be saying that you have the drive connected to a USB hub, rather than directly to the USB port on the computer. If you have it connected directly to the computer's USB port, we'll probably need more information about the computer and the USB port.

How do I stop this window from opening?

I just installed an Iomega RW external drive with the Hot Burn software supplied. Once I burn data or pictures on a new RW CD I cannot add additional data. The disc shows full even though it is a 700MB disc when there is only a fraction of that amount stored, also I cannot reformat the disc without distroying the disc. My system is xp2000. I have tried everything I can think of, but once I write to the disc I can't add to it or erase what is on it. I am using Memorex CD-RW 4X muti speed disc.

Hi there:

I have an Iomega 100 Zip Drive. Yeah, I know it's a few years old! The reason I still use it is because I have several discs and it's been working- up until now.

Today, I put in a disc and what normally happens is a little green light in the front comes on and begins flashing then the light goes out. That same green lit button is what I can use to eject the disc. Now, what's happening is the light stays on solid green. I cannot eject the disc. And my computer is not even detecting the hardware by showing me the icon when I click on "My Computer".

Is it something to do with my computer? Or the Zip Drive itself? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Using Windows 98 on a PC or laptop my Zip drive will bring up a brochure that needs a bit of work but will not save it ANYwhere. I get a variety of messages including "Disk is not formatted." "Disk is full or damaged."
"Save to another disk." Is the drive dead? Is there a way out with the brochure intact?

Anny: Try copying the file from the zip to your hard drive using Windows Explorer. Then try working on it from your hard drive. If you successfully get it copied to your hard drive, I would run scandisk on your zip drive and see if you can't recover that file. If not, format the zip drive, making sure there are no bad sectors (if so, trash the zipdisk), and copy the file back onto it if the zip is still good.

Recently my dvd drive has stopped working. The system recognizes the drive, it shows up, it spins when a disk is inserted, but it does not seem to recognize that the disk is there. Looking at the drive in Windows shows 0 files. This happens no matter what type of disk I insert, cd, dvd, music cd.

Based on what I've tried so far it doesn't appear to be a hardware problem. I've tried updating the drivers, says they are up to date. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drive, no change. I installed a cd drive from my old computer, same result. I bought a new dvd drive, same result. Cable connections checked.

I also tried updating the IDE Channel driver, and uninstalling and reinstalling. No change.

One thing that may or may not give a clue. If I leave a disk in the drive and then restart the computer, when it logs into Windows I can see the contents of the drive. The last time I tried that I was even able to run the game on that disk. However when I switch disks, or open and close the drive with the same disk, the problem returns.

I originally posted on the Hardware section. Suggestions there included switching so it was on IDE1 instead of IDE0, and the "filter fix" outlined here: http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/4...denly-not.html

None of those changes made any difference. No hardware or software changes have been made recently. OS = Windows XP

Suggestions?

Hello

I have a question about my Iomega 320GB external HDD. I'm happy with it but I use it on multiple computers (mainly xp withone win7) between home and work with the odd trip at the in-laws. One thing that always seems to bother me is that although I can write to the drive from all the computers they become read only or write protected to that same computer/laptop. As a result I can't seem to remove something I did on another PC, not handy for my uni work as I've multiple folders of the similar files that are tied to the PC they were created on.

Is there a way I can remove this protection and have the drive work with full write access regardless of what PC it was used on (I'm sure some saves were from an old work PC that I can't don't have access to anymore).

Thanks in advance
Gogs

Can someone confirm the transfer mode of an Internal Iomega ZIP 100 IDE Drive for a PC as PIO Mode 0? I always figured it was UDMA/33. Could my Award BIOS be getting things wrong?

Currently Windows 2000 shows the Transfer Mode as PIO Mode Only while my DVDROM (also on the same channel) is at Ultra DMA Mode. The DVDROM is giving me problems when it runs a UDMA mode (it insists on being set to PIO Mode like the ZIP otherwise most data cant be read from CDROMs).

Looking for a replacement for my Iomega USB 750MB Zip Drive. Three requirements below. Any suggestions?

* Must be quieter than noisy zip drive I have now. It can be keychain, other type of backup drive, etc.
* Can automatically backup individual files as changes are made. In other words, looking for a backup drive that has something equivalent to the Iomega Sync software. I like this feature much, as don't have to remember to schedule backups regularly and backup of changes are automatically done near real time for a particular directory which in my sit. is my email.
* Must work with a Windows 98SE PC. Planning to upgrade in the not too distant future, but need the backup device to work with the system I have now until I do.

PS Forgive if question asked before, but tried search of forum and it said zip (one of my search terms) was too common of a term to search on.

This is a long shot but it's the only one I can think of.
Since your zip is parallel did you have a peripheral that was hooked up and setup prior to the zip drive, such as a printer or a scanner?
If you did, was an uninstall done on that item before you loaded the drivers for the zip. You may have the old item trying to grab the parallel port after the zip drive is setup in the boot process. Another possibility is a bios setting defining uni-directional or bi-directional, if you have that option you may try changing them around. Switching them sometimes can correct the problem.
Don't feel alone in this boat, I have a parallel Cliks-It zip drive and every once and awhile it drops its drivers for no reason.
Just a thought.

Hello,

I run the Data processing center for a local company. We get all sorts of information via ZIP disk, and latly have been getting all sorts of errors regarding these disks. Most common is the error message: "Disk is not formatted, do you wish to format now?"

Now, there are several things that could be the problem. I have taken into consideration it may be a hardware issue. The baffling fact is that some disks work fine, other don't. I have also considered that the OS platform that the customer is formatting the disk in may be formatting in NTFS while we proceed to run in a Win98 (fat32) enviroment. Win98 trying to read an NTFS file structure may cause this type or error, but the fact is I am 90% sure that most of our customers run Win98 as well. Chances are slim that they run anything newer or more robust because of their company size.

I would like any input that you can offer that may help clear this issue up for us. Some questions that I have are: Are there different types of ZIP disks, and if so, would my older IOMEGA ZIP drive not be able to read some of them? Are there any phisical differences in the disks I should note?

Please inform me to any of the issues that may help clear this problem up for me.

Thank you,

Lyrical

I have been online with iOmega support earlier, but they could not resolve my problem. I bought a computer with no parallel port so I had to purchase a NetMos PCI ECP Parallel port. I have tried the options not use interrupt, not use if possible and interrupt assigned to port. Enabled legacy plug and play. Tried assigning to LPT1-3. IRQ is 17. I/O A000-A007 and A400-A407. Device is working properly and I tried hooking up an old parallel printer with no problem at all. When I check the hardware list I get the exclamation point on Disk Drives > IMG VP0. It says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". There is no drive letter assigned to the Zip 100 at all, and I never got it to do that. iOmega support said that Windows XP (Home) should not need drivers installed for this Zip drive, but I tried without, then downloading the drivers, and finally the whole iOmegaWare package. Still can't get it to go. Anyone please help me! I don;t know where to go to change the IRQ and the ECP/EPP modes on the NetMos 9805 PCI card. That is the only thing I haven't tried. In the BIOS I can toggle an onboard parallel port on and off and set the IRQ and so on. But I could not find any pins to just hook up the cable interface to it.. This onboard device was set to off anyways. But I tried switching it on too, but nothing happened to get the Zip drive to work.

Is it the PCI card or the Zip drive that is the problem?

Thanks!

Lenny

I'm considering the Iomega Predator CD-RW drive as an accessory to my laptop, which has a DVD-ROM. Anyone have any opinions on this drive, such as good or bad, overpriced, problem areas, etc.?

Also, anyone happen to know the weight of this drive? I checked the Iomega site but found nothing. Maybe they'll respond.

Thanks.

A:Opinions on Iomega Predator CD-RW drive

I own one.

It works, I will give it that.

Support for it...zip (ha ha!)

Software it came with was not compatable with XP, (despite label on box). Iomega said it is Roxio's deal, Roxio said it is Iomega's box, and their problem. No one was willing to help, both only wanted to sell me more software. (Roxio wanted me to fork out $100 to make it work!)

I had to buy more software to make it work right. (could not return it as it was opened, tried that)

Don't have a scale here, but it is relatively light. Size is what bugs me. Takes a bit of space, between the unit and the detachable componant on the back that allows the USB and Power cable to be plugged in. (don't understand that design concept). Though I use a laptop, the drive never goes with me, too cumbersome to bother.......

I also ran into a problem or two after install, no biggies, but had to deal with them myself because, as I said, support = none.

I noticed on various other sites the feedback posted by others is similar to mine, so I don't think I am all that unique on this.

I have NUC Mini computer which does not recognize my Iomega Ext Hard Drive LDHD250-UCan you suggest where I might be able to download a driver

A:Iomega Ext Hard Drive LDHD250-U

If you have installed Windows on your NUC Mini, the driver for all makes of external hard drives is built in to Windows (Microsoft Mass Storage Driver). If your Iomega external hard drive needed a driver, it would have been included with it.It isn't included because it's in Windows already.I have used four different brands of external drives (yes, even an Iomega one) and I have never had to install a driver for any of them - - Windows installs it automatically the first time you plug it in to a USB port.Since the NUC Mini comes with no OS installed, it may be you are not running Windows. Maybe you installed a Linux distro instead?

Just the other day my External zip drive stopped ejecting the disks. I press the eject button and it makes the ejecting noises and what not butthe disk moves a millimeter or so and thats it. Any ideas?

A:Iomega external ZIP Drive not Ejecting.

Try doing a software eject.

Right click on the drive letter. If not on your desktop, find it under "My Computer"

Click on "Eject Disk"

Also as a final backup most ZIP's have an emergency eject fallback method. On mine it is a pinhole in the back just above the power connector.

Must be fully powered down, removed and you stick a straightened paper clip into that hole and push.

See your instruction manual if such a procedure exists for your drive.

Finally you can gently push the disk in a bit more with your finger from the front loading slot and exercise it. It may be hung up on its ejection path. Jiggle may unseat and clear the path.

Best of luck

A:Iomega Portable USB 2.0 Hard Drive

It's not backup if there's only one copy, regardless.

The first thing to determine is whether it is the enclosure that has gone bad or the disk inside. Disassemble the enclosure, remove the disk and connect it internally to another desktop computer. See if it comes up on it.

You may have to go to the disk manufacturer's web site for proper jumper settings.

Looks like no one, even the (official) iomega forum moderator, wants to jump in on this one.

I have used my zip 250 drive with three versions of windows for at least 15 years. I don't believe iomega even supports this hardware any more, but have had no problems with all my OS's including my present OS (XP) and Dell XPS 400 computer until today.

The usual sequence of operation(s) this zip drive are, is that a 250MB disk is inserted, a whirring sound is heard, and the data recorded is then displayed. I always assumed the whirring sound is the disk motor turning.

However now for the first time ever, no whirring sound when the disk is inserted and locked, silence from the drive, and the disk is ejected in 2-3 seconds. I have 5 250 MB disks which were always fine before, all of which are now ejected as described above. I have gone into the device manager screen and there is no trouble indicated, advice is the device is working normally, and there is no malfunction indication next to that disk drive (which is external and SCSI connected).

There have been no error popups anywhere with regard to this problem. I have not tried to reinstall the drive since it does involve steps which include the SCSI card as well as the hardware and software installation procedures...thought I'd ask help here first before digging into the computer (again).

I am a electronics technician and competent to inspect and/or repair the device (with appropriate parts if needed) but ... Read more

Zip drives have been long obsolete. Any USB to DB25 pin connector with the right male-female pin configuration will work. CD/DVD writers can hold much more data and access it easier and faster, and depending on your Operating System you may or may not need drivers

Before updating the green and yellow lights were lit up on my zip drive and after installing it is now just the green light and I am able to eject and reinject... still nothing. I am trying to view a older access .mdb file and reset my compatibility to my previous version of access that the database was saved in, still nothing.

This is a general and don't know if it applies to all of the products by Iomega.

I spent some time reading forums regarding usb drivers for Iomega zip storage. There are quite a few sites out there saying the drivers exist but when I tried to download them, they were only third party applications that ask for registration and just look at your hard drive to see missing drivers then ask for a charge to find them. I tried to track down the Iomega publisher and after many 'see these guys', I found that comenterprises.com sells and supports these products now. Just spoke with one of their technical support people and drivers for zip 100 do not exist and are not available even though this company and others still sell these products BE WARNED. I was told to call back tomorrow to speak with a software specialist to find out if any of these products are still supported. I was told that if you are using windows XP (no one supports this version anymore), the drivers will work but not for windows 8. I am going to follow up on this and see if there is any solution.

Stay tuned

A:Windows 8 Iomega zip drive drivers

Do yourself a favor. Don't waste time searching for a storage device that holds 100MB of info when you can get a cheap 8GB, yes that's the same storage as 80 zip floppies, USB stick. One of our stores had 8GB PNY sticks for $3.99.
The zip drive is 20 year old technology and next to obsolete, like floppy disks.

I suspect many other software are not working also due to this issue, is there a simple way to fix this or will i have to re-install the software that isn't working correctly?

Hello there, I have an Iomega portable hard drive, which is compatible with windows 7, however, when running the Iomega Encryption Utility using the reconfiguration option to set a password for the hard drive, it told me you must format this drive before use, anyways, my windows 7 doesnt recognise it anywhere! yet before the encryption ran it did! in disk management it only shows my C drive, the Iomega showed up in my computer as a G drive but it doesnt now. Its like the computer cant see the hard drive! I wondered if anyone had any ideas out there or come across the problem before? I read about formatting the disk but it wont give me that option when the device is plugged in.

A:Iomega hard drive not recognized & beeps

I'd say it's toast. Assuming it's out of warranty, you can try removing the HDD from the enclosure and connecting internally, via a USB adapter, or using another enclosure. The most common fault is the enclosure. However, since this unit was dropped, the actual HDD is likely damaged. In which case it's time to buy a new drive and move on.

I have a new 320GB Iomega portable/external USB2 hard drive, purchased some time ago as a spare, but - until now - not used. So it has no data on it other than whatever might have been on it from the factory.
The fundamental problem is that when plugged in, it does not show up as a drive in the "My Computer" screen. I have plugged it in to different USB ports, and in two separate laptops, one WinXP (yes yes, I know....) and one Win7. The power light on the drive illuminates, and the case vibrates/hums very slightly which suggests that the hard drive is spinning. But it simply doesn't appear as a drive. There are some clues (which I hope forum experts may be able to interpret). See details below. First, I tried to see if there was a hardware problem:
1) I checked the connecting USB cable, by using another different and known-good cable. Same problem: drive not visible. Which suggests the original USB cable is OK.
2) To check if there was a fault in the actual Iomega PCB inside the casing, I opened the case, disconnected and removed the hard drive (it's made by Seagate), and installed it in another, spare, hard drive caddy which I happened to have - and which has its own known-good USB PCB interface. Plugged this into my laptop(s). Still no drive visible or listed in "My Computer" - which suggests that the original Iomega PCB USB interface is not the problem.
So.... is the hard drive dead? It seems to spin OK. Or is there a software issue, or something else? Incidentally all my... Read more

When I plug my hard drive in it is recognised however I have several problems.

1) If I start a large file transfer halfway through the drive 'disappears' and the transfer hasn't finished.
2) when I try to 'safely remove hardware' it tells me it is the volume cannot be stopped now and the drive 'disappears' from My Computer.
3) If I try to plug the hard drive in again it does not recognise it, usually I have to wait a bit and then plug it in again.

I have tried using Disk Management to format it but it is stuck to NTFS (is that a problem?) and it tells me it is healthy. Quick format works but normal format stops after a while and the drive disappears from My Computer again.

Any suggestions.

Hello,

I am trying to run an iomega Select Desktop Hard Drive, 1 TB. You can see it here (http://reviews.cnet.com/external-ha...-34147148.html?tag=contentMain;contentBody;2r)

I cannot find any drivers or any info really for this device online.

I am running Windows 7 on a intel core i5 processor. I used to have no problem running it on this computer. It now will not show up in Disk Management or Device Manager. The blue light on the device is on and I have even tried a different power supply as well as a different port, and unplugging/restarting the computer.

The only other thing I can think of is the USB cord may be bad, but I don't have anything to try out. I am hoping that it is not completely dead - lots of files on this device.

Please let me know if you need any more info or if there is anything else I can try! I'm desperate! Thanks in advance

A:iomega External Hard Drive won't recognize

Does it work on another machine?

Has it been bumped or knocked or dropped?

Youu should have all your files backed up especially those on portable drives because they are the most likely to fail and lose all their files. All hard drives will fail.

If it doesn't appear in Device Manager, then the drive or its enclosure may be faulty (if not the cable). If it is under warranty, you should replace it. If not, you may need to remove the drive from its case and try connecting it to a machine through a USB adapter or connected internally to a desktop PC to see if it works without the enclosure.

The hard drive in your computer is in one of two states right now. It's
either going to fail or it already failed. Hard drives are inherently
fragile things with no built in redundancy.

A:iomega external Hard drive is not recognizing

There are various softwares which can recover data, but the prerequisite for all of them is that the PC is able to detect the drive. That being the case, all I can suggest is to send it to a data recovery service, but that is mega expensive.

Important & irreplaceable data should never be stored on only one hard drive. I have four external drives, each one storing the same data.

A:IOMEGA external hard drive has just stopped working

Have you tried the drive in another computer?
Do you have any other external drives or USB devices and do they work ok?
What OS are you running?

I would definitely recommend taking the drive to a shop or tech to have a look, if you aren't familiar with data recovery.

The problem could be a corrupt partition table, or other data related - not physical, problem. A reformat will "fix" your drive, but you will lose data. In situations like these, taking the drive to an experienced person will be the best option to avoid making matters "worse", and as a worse case scenario, data recovery software should get your most if not all of your data back.

Most likely, the integrity of the drive has been affected, but the drive itself still holds the data.

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and post that It was working fine without any issues. I have two external drive connected to it.

1. 1 TB Iomega powered drive. - now RAW
2. 2TB seagate external drive.

The 1tb drive suddenly became RAW and I wasn't able to access it. before it happened, I had removed some virus detected in the drive by the AVG antivirus. Post that once or twice it got disconnected and after that the drive became RAW. I understand the file system might have got corrupted since couple of times my system faced powercuts and before I could shut it down the system cut off from electricity as my UPS died on me.

I haven't formatted the disk at all, as I have all my important data in this HD as it was my backup drive for office and personal use.

Disk Management: shows the drive is RAW but a healthy Partition.

I opened the hard drive casing, tried connecting the drive directly to the internal sata cable but the same didn't read even then and still shows as RAW drive. I got a Storite USB to SATA adapter and tried that, the drive is now running fine(as it sounds) with intermittent kind of noise (clicking etc.,) for sometime and then disappears. After directly connecting the drive atleast the below softwares are able to read the data in the drive but unable to recover it.

I have tried recovering data using the below softwares.

Hi,

I have had an Iomega external hard for a year now and it used to work perfectly, until suddenly, my computer (Mac) won't detect it anymore.

When I turn it on, the blue light comes on and I can hear the disk spinning inside, but there is no trace of any external device connected to my mac. I've connected through USB and Firewire with no success. Going to disk utility, only my internal hard drive appears.

It simply just stopped showing up on my computer. Does anybody have any advice to get my hard drive working again?

A:Iomega External Hard Drive stopped being detected

Try a different usb & firewire port physically on your mac & try a different cable. If no dice try it on a different mac or even on a PC, see if the other computer detects it. many times w/ external hard drives the enclosure fails but the drive is ok. worse case scenario the enclosure is bad & you can remove drive to put in another enclosure, or the whole thing could be hosed. try this, post back. thanks!

The strange thing is, the drive works perfect in my laptop. Both machines are Windows7 64-bit.
I've tried different USB ports in my PC with the same results.

I tried to re-format the drive from my laptop in NTFS format, however it didn't wipe anything from the drive and I still have the same issue's.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

I tried to run a system image to the "Backup" folder of my Iomega external hard drive three times, without success. The error message asked me to run chkdsk on both the source (my desktop) hard drive and the destination (Iomega) drive.

How can I run chkdsk on this external drive? I am willing to buy third-party software if necessary.

Thanks for your help.

P.S. I did manage to create a system image in a different folder of the external drive, but am curious about the one that failed. It contains no data and has never been used.

A:How to run chkdsk on Iomega networked external hard drive

if you right click on your iomega in "computer" select properties and select the tools tab, there is an option to check the disc for errors.

Hello all, I am at my wits end and i wonder if anyone can help. I have a 500GB external iomega hard drive. I had only used it a handful of times to back up such things as holday snaps and my itunes music and video library. This was basically to free up my laptops memory.
I then plugged into the usb port on my PS3 console and found it was in FAT32 so dragged game saves across to do the same thing for my PS3. I then used it to drag music to my iphone and left it for a week, however now the PS3 wont recognise it and nor will my computer , and i have no idea why not.
There is power to the hard drive via external 12v power source and the blue light on it shows that power goes to it, but when plugged to any other console or laptop it does not show signs of being read.
Any one able to shed light on this and help with an answer?

iv had my Iomega hdd for about a year at most and its been fine, yesterday the usb cable was accidentally unplugged from the hdd while still connected to my laptop. Now when the hdd is plugged in, it makes beeping noises for a few seconds and the green light indicated power but it doesnt have any motor running sounds and it is not recognised by my laptop. I tried it on my family computer and its the same problem. I have tried restarting and no changes. I have attempted checking the disk management and as far as i can see it is not there either, and when i run F:\ it is unavailable.
any help is very much appreciated, as usual in these cases theres lots of important files i need off it!!
Thanks

This hard drive has worked fine with my computer for a while now. i recently reinstalled the os onto my machine, and proceeded to obtain all of the necessary drivers to get it back to normal again. however, all of my backed up files were on this external hard drive. when i plug it into the computer (via USB) it is recognized under disk drives in device manager. it still doesn't show up anywhere else, and i can't access it. i tried plugging it into a laptop, and it was the same story. Anyone got a fix? thanks

Hi all

I'm having trouble installing an Iomega 40GB usb portable hard drive. I'm using Windows XP professional.

I've plugged it it and it does find a "USB mass storage device" but it says no drivers are install. I try installing drivers but it ends up saying Code 10 device cannot start.

I tried this fix:http://www.iomega.com/europe/support/english/documents/11600e.html

and this:

No luck.

Any ideas?

I am having some crazy issues with my computer. I had a plethora of BSOD's which led up to my computer crashing completely. I reinstalled windows by deleting the partition and putting it back on fresh and new but had to do it twice since the first time didn't work.

The first time gave me hell after I tried to drag my saved music files for itunes onto my new desktop. This led to the Explorer restart issue which was so bad that I just reinstalled the system again. I have had the system up and running and everything seems OK (lag in speed since I took out two of my 2 GB memory sticks after thinking they might have been the problem-PNY is sending me replacements) but now I am noticing that I am getting the EXPLORER HAS SHUT DOWN error when trying to open my folders on my Iomega drive. I have done a scan disc on this hard drive and it is totally free of errors. No errors have been found. The External drive is only about 7 months old. I have scanned it for viruses with AVG Internet Security 2012 and it has no viruses to my knowledge.

What can I do to save this drive??? I have almost 1.3 gb of important stuff on it!!! Help!!! I am not very computer savvy so this is really mentally exhausting and frustrating. I am thinking of getting a new system but I am scared something is up with the external drive that might ruin my NEW system once I try and put it on there.

ALSO, I should mention that my external drive folders open fine on my laptop...so, that has to mean something right? H... Read more

Hi guys,
Don't know very much about the technical side of pcs/HDD's, so please bare with me. Basically, I bought an Iomega Prestige primarily to connect up to my ps3. When I connected it, the ps3 wouldn't recognise this. A quick google search and I thought I'd uncovered the problem. The HDD is NTFS and ps3 will only recognise FAT32?
So then thinking I was a boffin I decided to try and re-format the HDD to FAT32, which I couldn't manage to do. Whatever I did do (I can't exactly remember). Anyways, when I try and connect my HDD to my laptop it doesn't come up on the G drive which it did before. It only shows up on the F drive. When I click into this it only comes up 'autorun' and 'Iomega Encryption Utility'. I clicked into the encryption utillity and thought that resetting the hard drive would fix whatever it was I messed up. Still it doesn't show up on the G drive. When I go to disk management, I can see the hard drive under 'Disk 1', but states it is 'unallocated'.
Sorry if this is a bit long-winded but can anyone suggest how I can get my laptop to recognise my HDD in the G drive again, so at least I can back up my ever-growing media files on it.
Many thanks.

A:Iomega Prestige 500gb portable hard drive problems. Please help!

google search a program like "partion manager freeware", run the program, and you should be able to format the unallocated space to a FAT32(for your ps3) or ntfs for your laptop if you so chose.

Hi tech guys,

I recently purchased an iomega home network hard drive NAS for storing and streaming movies etc.

My issue is this; my windows pcs recognise the drive, and assigns a different drive for each of the folders (eg movies, pictures etc) but when I copy from one folder to another it takes AGES, not exceeding 1.5mb per second. Is this a problem with the setup or are the write times dreadful on these things?

Thanks in advance for any help...

Use the Disk Manager to view the partition - - there should be some info if you click on the device. If not, the partition damaged.

I have a 64 bit Windows 7 computer and a large number of files on old zip 100 disks, which I would love to have access to again. My 100 drive is a USB drive.

Iomega's site says the following about that qualified for 32-bit Windows 7: "Zip? Drives: Zip? 100MB, 250MB or 750MB USB, ATAPI, FireWire or SCSI drives should work with native Windows 7 drivers. IomegaWare software does NOT work with Windows 7, so features supplied by IomegaWare will not be available."
"native" - so Windows 7 can simply accept the zip drive? that seems very wrong --- Furthermore Iomega can simply be referring to current Zip drives.
I am sorry my level of knowledge of computing is much below those of you on this site, (but I am learning! perhaps not apparent here) but I have been unable to find clear help on the web...
I would like to accomplish this by myself, but with any of your feedback, it may be clear I need to take the drive to a computer repair store. I am hesitant to just give it a go with further info for fear something will go quite wrong with my computer.
I appreciate your help on behalf of quite the novice. Thanks.

A:Does driver exist to enable file access from old Iomega zip 100 drive?

Since Iomega supported both 32 and 64 versions of Vista I'd say if your drive is not recognized by Windows 7 native drivers you may want to explore this https://iomega-na-en.custhelp.com/cg...b2RzPTEsMTkmcF

and try the Vista drivers in compatibility mode.

I have a 1Tb Iomega home media network drive. It normally connects via the network to all my machines (iMac osx, eee pc W7, ubuntu 10). But, something has happened, so now I can see the folders on the network drive but when I click on it (photos, videos etc), it says Windows cannot access \\Iomega-0E10FD\movies

Error code: 0x80070043
The network name cannot be found

This seems similar to someone elses post but is unsolved by anyone. As he says, the management software which came with the drive seems to suggest everything is ok. For example it reports that 90% of the disk is used, which was the case before this problem.

I have tried disabling the firewall in the router and the W7 eee pc, but nothing has worked.

please help!

Cheers,
Rich

Any help would be appreciated.

A:Iomega 1Tb home network drive missing share drives

I just started having this exact same problem. I'm on a windows desktop using windows 7. I have an iomega home media network drive, and all of a sudden for the last couple of days I am unable to access any of my folders on it. I get the same error message (Error code 0x80070043 Network name cannot be found). The drive and all the folders show up in windows explorer (sometimes they have a red X on them, sometimes they don't) but when I click on the folders, I get that error. I can't access any of the folders using the iomega storage manager software either. I get the same Network Name Cannot Be Found thing. I am also at around 90% of the disc used. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have a Iomega home media network drive. It connects well and can be seen via the network. I can see the folders on the network drive but when I click on it (photos, videos etc). it says Windows cannot access \\<ip_address>\photos

Error code: 0x80070043
The network name cannot be found

However, I can ping the drive ok. The management software which came with the drive seems to suggest everything is ok. It displays the share but with a ? next to folder -- perhaps because it not do a map of the drive.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd be looking for a firewall configuration issue first. Try disabling the firewall on this machine and see if that helps.

Hi, I currently have a computer running Windows 7 and I would like to transfer the backed up information on the iomega external hard drive to it and also I noticed an option to use Windows ready boost too to help speed up and increase performance. My concern however is that the chassis is quite small and that the computer specs may not enable these operations to complete properly. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

A:Transferring data with iomega external hard drive and using ready boost?

I wouldn't advise enabling ReadyBoost on your Iomega hard drive.  You should only really use external flash memory with ReadyBoost, and that, only if you have a minimal RAM and you are desperate to speed up your computer.  See this to find out more about ReadyBoost.

Today I was given a used Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive from work. I tried connecting it up straight to my pc but when I powered it on, what should be a solid blue light on the hard drive alternates between blue and orange. I presume this is the cause for it not to be found by my pc. Basically I'm wondering how do I reset the hard drive. The data that's on it isn't important so I could format the drive if I knew how. Is the drive completely broken? Thanks

Computer Specs:
OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 3, 32 bit
Processor: AMD Turion(tm)X2 Dual Core Mobile RM-70, x86 Family 17 Model 3 Stepping 1
Processor Count: 2
RAM: 2812 Mb
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics , 700 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 32781 MB, Free - 5171 MB; D: Total - 9217 MB, Free - 2250 MB;
Motherboard: Hewlett-Packard, 30E4, KBC Version 94.1D, Base Board Serial Number
Edit: Problem solved, I simply didn't do enough trawling through the manuals to find that blue/orange blinking lights mean that the hard drive could not obtain an IP address, which I fixed now and is working fine.

Hi,

I have a mini CD with the software for my Philips Voice Recorder. And I have got along fine without installing the software, but now the device is saying it is full, when I know I deleted all the files from within Windows Explorer. So I thought I should install the bespoke software.

But the mini CD is only showing a list of files including the installation exe file. But when I click on it in Windows Explorer, it says please insert a disk!

The DVD RW drive is a Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 ATA

Any ideas?

thanks

Hey folks,

So many devices these days come with a driver on a mini-CD. My laptops (Acer and Toshiba) take forever to access them, then think they're blank and ask to format them.

In Googling this I found a guy who said he fixed this problem by reinstalling Roxio. Said his computer came with it but he'd uninstalled it cause he never used it. That it must "turn on" a feature in W7 or something, cause after he reinstalled it, his computer could read mini's.

When I got both my laptops I wiped all partitions (including the hidden "recovery" one), re-partitioned the way I wanted, and reloaded all drivers and W7 (64 Ultimate). The DVD players in both laptops have a central spindle, so they are designed to read mini-CDs. They DO detect them, but again, think they are blank.

Anyone heard of Roxio or other software being required to read mini's? Thanks much.

PS I have a lot of media software installed but not Roxio. (Nero, ImageBurn, Handbrake, Ashampoo, etc.)

A:Is Media Software Required to Read Mini-CDs?

Windows should be able to read your mini-CDs . You might want to eject the CD and place it in the middle . It will take a few seconds to read the disc due to it size. I never had an issue with mini-CDs being read.
