Q: Installing Monitor Drivers

I have an AOC Spectrum 7Glr monitor and i have just installed SP2 and the resolution and colour are wrong and when i go to display properties ->settings -> advanced -> monitor -> there is no option to change or update the driver.

All the tutorials i have found on website say to update from there - how can i install drivers to make this work properly?

Have a new Vista Premium system. It's an HP Pavilion a6250z. My monitor is an HP w2007. Display Adapter is NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT with 512MB. 3GB RAM. Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4600+ 2.4 GHz.

Everything seems to be running great except that I cannot get the drivers for the monitor to install. No matter what I try, I get either an error has occured or Access Denied when I attempt to run the installation program.

When I look at my display properties it shows the correct monitor, however it shows there being no driver. In Device Manager the Monitor shows under Other Devices. My monitor seems to work ok...but there is a hugely noticiable quality difference between the display when connected to the new Vista machine and the older XP machine.

I've been through forums all over the net and tried everything I've found.

I've tried:

- Right-Click Run as Admin
- Creating/Using the Super Administrator Account
- Uninstalling Monitor and Detecting Hardware Changes
- Updating Driver from Display Properties
- Updating Driver from Device Manager
- Uninstalling Monitor, Rebooting in Safe-Mode, Logging in as Super Admin
- I've installed directly from CD
- Copied files to desktop and ran
- Downloaded new drivers directly from HP and ran from desktop
- I've even tried running the driver install in XP SP2 compat mode...just to be sure

I've done everything I can think of. Anyone have any suggestions? I really hate to have to uninstall everything and load an old copy of XP instead.

A:Access Denied When Installing Monitor Drivers

I presume that you've got the 32 bit version of Vista and not the 64 bit version? If so....Have you downloaded the drivers from this link? you updated your nVidia display drivers also? Here's a link to them: you have the 64 bit version, then it appears that HP doesn't have a 64 bit driver for your monitor (here's the 64 bit nVidia drivers: ) - so you won't be able to install it that way. Maybe you can find out who actually built the monitor for HP to see if there are 64 bit drivers at their website. The following link is the last page of a 32 page topic about your monitor - it seems to indicate that there are some issues with the monitor depending upon which LCD screen you've got:

Every time i install the GPU drivers for my Zotac GTX 780, the computer starts crashing a minute or two after the boot. I can access the desktop for a short period of time before the monitor goes black and/or loses signal. Sometimes I can't access it at all.

There are no problems when not having any GPU drivers installed.

I have tried the following;
* Installing older GPU drivers (several old versions, wiped all old files both manually and by using software)
* Reinstalling the OS (changing from win8.1 to win7)
* Turned off automatic Windows Update so that they don't interfere with NVIDIA's (GPU drivers)
* Changing the cable and monitor

Feels like I've tried everything and nothing works!

A:Monitor losing signal after installing GPU drivers (NVIDIA)

Its possible something has happened to your card hardware wise but probably not likely. It was working fine before and you updated then started having these issues, or it's a new card and you are having the issues from the get go? the drivers you tried were these correct? I have an HP DC7700u pc with a 1.86ghz core 2 duo processor and 4 Gb Ram (32 Bit). My monitor is an Hp Monitor as well. When I first plugged in the monitor and turned on the computer, the display looked a little "low quality" and the device manager showed "generic pnp monior". After a few days of using the computer and installing updates, the display suddenly looked really nice and the device manager showed the actual model number of the monitor. Now after about of month of use, the display is suddenly "low quality" again and the device manager is once again saying "generic pnp device". I tried updating the drivers and that didn't work. Looked on the Hp website as well as Microsoft site and both say the monitor is plug-n-play and no software is needed. Where do I go from here to make this work permanently?

A:Hp Monitor drivers not installing. Problems with Windows Update?

Most monitors are plug-and-play, but they may need updated drivers to cope with your graphics card.

You told us you have an HP monitor, but you didn't say which model it is.

Have a look at HP Support here: Updating a Monitor Driver - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

You may also want to update your graphics drivers as well. I can't advise you where because you haven't posted your full computer specs.

My Gateway m1634u purchased several years ago came with Windows XP. After installing Windows 7, everything works wonderful, except my monitor, which is now using a generic PnP monitor driver and is utterly stuck at 1280x800, and any program that doesn't match that resolution gets wrapped in a black frame, but not resized.

I searched everywhere I could think to look, and have the latest ATI drivers for the card... but it still isn't fixing the monitor. Plus, it won't let me switch to any other scale or resolution. Can anyone help me get the drivers I need for this laptop monitor? Thanks!

A:Monitor drivers needed for m1634u Gateway after installing Windows 7

That machine is a Notebook and may not have an optional video card [most don't], uses what is built onto/into the motherboard. You should be able to get the necessary drivers from Gateway if they have them for Win7 but maybe Windows Update will have them. I changed my 4-year old M6888u from Vista to Win7 and had no problems. Mine has another number on the label on the bottom, W650I. Checking this Gateway page for mine finds "Service not available", doesn't show your model either.

Im doing this for my Dad, so i have absolutely no idea how to describe the problem but i figured this place was my best shot as google is giving me no results on my query.
There appears to be no monitor drivers installed on the pc... and its running from the bare minimum settings. I think the refresh rate is set at a low low low setting, because lets say, if i move a window by dragging it across the screen, its all choppy, doesnt move smoothly at all... sort of like it jumps every half a second until i stop moving my mouse, then stops. The same with when i'm scrolling in internet explorer... smooth scrolling doesnt exsist! lol

I figured it was a driver problem seeing as there wasnt one installed. So i found the disk with the drivers on, and followed the instructions, which were as follows:
"Right Click" the mouse anywhere on the "BLANK" area on the desktop and click on PROPERTIES.
Click the SETTINGS tab and then click ADVANCED.
Click the MONITOR tab and then click PROPERTIES.
On the HARDWARE UPDATE WIZARD, select Install from a list of specific location (ADVANCED) then click Next.
On the following window, click on HAVE DISK.
Type “D:\ENGLISH\DRIVERS” (Where “D” is the drive letter of your CD ROM Drive) on INSTALL FROM DISK window then click on OK.

Hello there,
I recently swapped out my HD 6450 for a GTX 460 and after about two days I noticed my windows had done a auto-update and rebooting itself and was at my login prompt and my USB keyboard and mouse suddenly were not working at all the keyboard had no lights on either. I then proceeded to reboot the computer when I did this I suddenly had no signal coming from my video card. The card was still running its fan and everything else on the motherboard was running as well but no video.

I then thought it might be a video card problem so I re-installed the HD 6450 and it seems to be doing the same thing.... I have been researching every thing I can possibly find on how to fix this issue however nothing seems to work and im almost thinking the PCI-E slot may be dead however the HD6450 runs its fan directly from the mobo through the slot and when I power the computer up with that card in it the fan spins like normal.

Things I have tried so far...

1. Ensured everything was seated properly and all cords were in the proper places.

2. Reseated / Cleaned any dust off my RAM , HDD , Proccessor , all PSU cords going to mobo as well as USB cords. As well as did a mobo test by removing the RAM and booting to see if it beeped and it did ( with the RAM in place its giving me 1 short beep but thats been like that for a long time ).

3. Reset my BIOS by removing the CMOS battery for abit as well as doing the jumper reset on my mobo.

I hope you guys can give me a hand now cause i'm all out of ideas!

I re-formated my sisters computer yesterday, and after installing it i had no internet. As i hadn't installed any drivers yet, i understood that. But after heading over to dell's site, downloading all of the drivers for her computer and then installing them, i STILL do not have any internet.

I don't see any connections on the computer either, it's just blank!

Here's a screenshot.

Her computer model:
Dell OptiPlex 170L.

And the drivers for her computer can be found right here.

I installed all Chipset, Video, Audio and Network drivers. Have i missed out on anything important?

Any ideas what's wrong here?

Thanks in advance,

Can I install the driver of the "new" monitor now so that when it is hooked up to it, it will be recognized by Windows? If so, how do I do this as right now XP's generic driver is being used?

Please tell me if this request is not clear and I'll try to reexplain.

Hello chilloh,
All you will do is to overwrite the existing files, while they "should" overwrite without issue, it sometimes happens that they don't and this can cause problems.
It is always advisable to un-install the old drivers first.

What kind of connection do you have to the Internet? If you are using a modem you will need the drivers for that.

If you have the drivers installed but don't have a CD to set up the connection to you ISP you may need to contact them to help you set up the connection.

Maybe, maybe not. It would be best to have all of your drivers installation files downloaded and saved somewhere (ex: USB flash drive) first in case you do need them to be installed to be able to connect to the network/internet.

I have actually downloaded the 12.3 Full Version by the main site couple of months ago. Its more than 3 gigs and have burned it down on a DVD disc, nice one handy driver software package. However, its not a replacement for any manufacturing support sites. Its just a handy software if no drivers are available or supported for a particular computer or just using it offline. It is not accurate as you have to be very sure of the components listed when scanned or checked so you need to manually choose the driver needed for your computer. Only usable when there is are no drivers available on some computer system.

A:Installing New Drivers is a good site for scanning your system - but the results are a bit confusing (IMO). I use it when experiencing problems as a possible "pointer" to the affected driver. Are you having any problems with your system? Most people here recommend the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" strategy for drivers. But if there are some issues updating drivers is often the only way to fix them. Also, please be aware that when new drivers are released - they are hopefully "mature". But at times they'll cause more problems - so update with care. That being said, here's a link on how to update your drivers:

I am using Windows 2000 (had win98 at one time). I tried installing a USB hub recently, but my usb devices stopped functioning. I uninstalled, then tried reinstalling (plugging the devices into the usb ports in back of my pc instead of the hub). I got the Webcam working, but my digital camera, jvc camcorder, and card readers won't work. What happens every time i try to install the drivers is:
It says "Windows found a driver that is a closer match than your current driver" - c:\winnt\inf\oem1.inf
I tell it to install one of the other drivers. It tells me "the file eusbsm.sys is needed". It finds it in WINNT\SYSTEM.
Then it says "Setup cannot copy the file euiossm.pdr.
It finds it in WINNT\system32\drivers.
Then it says it cannot copy the file euiossm.inf. It does not find it on my system so I direct it to the CD-ROM, which has this file located in the folder WIN9X.
Then it says, "An error occured during the installation of the device. The installation failed because a function driver was not specified in this instance."

It always looks for these same files, regardless of the device I am trying to install. And the error message is the same each time as well.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated! I work from home as a freelance designer, and desperately need to resolve this issue asap.

I attached a copy of my IRQ.

I had to re-install my OS (Windows XP) due to some un-deletable viruses, and now I have to re-install all of the drivers, which is something I have never done before, and I'm having some problems.

I have a Dell, Demension 2350, and run on XP (as I mentioned before).

The drivers that my Device Manager says are missing are:

Other Devices
-Ethernet Controller
-Multimedia Audio Controller
-SM Bus Controller
-Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
- Lexmark Lexmark Z55 [it has a question mark beside it, like the rest, but not an excalmation mark over it, like the rest. Does this mean that it is missing, or its not missing?]

I'm using the Dell Dememsion Resource CD. The one that's called "Drivers and Utilities", and its contents read:
-Device Drivers
-Diagnostics and utilities
-Computer documentation

For one, the drivers go by different names on the disc than in the Device Manager, so that's confusing, and secondly, the installation instructions aren't clear enough as to all of the steps.

If anybody could tell me which driver is which on the disc, and the Device Manager, and tell me exactly how to install these suckers, I'd be greatful.

Hello dahead mate just a quick suggestion if you have access to another machine download the driver for the LAN onto a stick and then install it from the stick to the machine you have a problem with.

For example if I am going to clean install or transfer drives I save all my drivers for that particular machine as I outlined above and then do just that. I always do this especially the WLAN LAN and Blu tooth drivers because you at very least need a net connection. Saves a lot of hassles

What do you mean by "things got messed up", what happened? What driver version does it show, the latest is 5.3.

To uninstall your drivers, first download Driver Cleaner. The go to add/remove and uninstall both the Control Panel and the Display Drivers. Then reboot into safe mode, and run Driver Cleaner. First run the Cab Cleaner, be patient, it will take a while and you will think nothing is happening. Next run the driver cleaner, be sure to select ATi, it should be pretty quick doing this. After that, reboot and install you new drivers, and control panel if you downloaded it seperately.

A:installing drivers

Most drivers will be the default windows driver. It's nothing to worry about - things like video cards, network cards, sata controllers, bluetooth, and attached peripherals will need special drivers, but for standard stuff like those I/O devices you describe, the OS has standard drivers. You don't need manufacturer supplied drivers for them, and for the most part there aren't any.

If you're concerned about being up to date, you should install all your OS updates. When you go to the windows update website, if you click custom instead of express, you can look at the available driver updates from MS if you click on hardware.

But hey - your system works fine, correct? So you shouldn't even be concerned.

Hello, I recently formatted my pc and while setting it up, the pc asked for the windows setup cd. I couldn't find it, so I just skipped that step and went ahead with the setup, but of course the cd drivers were not installed. I've since found the missing CD and have been attempting to install the driver, with no luck (mostly because I don't know what to do). Whenever i boot up the machine it says "Primary driver 1 not found, Press F1 to continue or F2 to go to setup". The setup option, far as I can tell, doesn't give me any way to install the driver. I looked on Microsoft support and the best help they could give me was to tell me to uninstall the driver, and upon restarting it would be reinstalled. That didn't work either, so I came here for help. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Now that you have the disk, I would suggest taking the time to re-load windows before you go too far. There may be other pieces that were not loaded.

Windows 7 will install 99% of all the drivers you need. Do you have access to an ethernet cable? If so, insert it, then run Windows should download and install any remaining updates for your devices, including your WIFI adapter.

Try that and let us know how you get on.

i have a custom built pc mobo nf4st-a9 amd processor and a ati video card that is about two years old. I just recently had to reformat my hard drive becauase of a very bad virus i got. I sucessfully reformatted my HD and found a way to install the chipset for my motherboard so a few of the devices are installed. I can get on the internet but after a couple of minutes of the computer being on it locks up before i can even attempt to install any other drivers. On top of that when i try to go and figure out exactly what video card i have the device is not shown at all. It is a Ati radeon that is about 2-3 years old. I took out the card manually and tried looking for a model number but had no sucess. is there any way for me to determine what video card i have so i can attempt to download the driver for it before my computer locks up?. But more importantly why is it that my pc is locking up?

A:need help with installing drivers

You could download and install Everest. When you run it it will make a report of your hardware. Its very accurate.

Not sure why your pc is locking up. Could be a number of reasons. Get your drivers and OS up to date. It may help.

A:Help on installing drivers.

Hello Katokato,
It should be straight forward to install the drivers.
When you fit the card it should automatically disable the onboard chip. If that does not happen, go in to the Bios and disable it manually.
Go to the ATI web site and download the drivers for you card and install as directed.

Hope this helps, if you need any more help, or if things don't go as planned just ask.
One thing you may want to check is your power supply, is it good enough to run the new card ?.

I have upgraded to a shiny new computer, and once satisfied I had everything I needed. I wiped the old XP one and reinstalled the OS in order to hand down to wayward son.

Great! Certainly responsive now!

BUT but but...

...with the reinstall, I've lost all the drivers.

I need ethernet and cd-rw/dvd-r drives to reinstall software. Once I have ethernet, I can connect to internet and get everything else I need, like Samsung monitor drivers. I've been to Dell, but I can't seem to find what I need.

Can someone please direct me to a website from which I can download the required software?

Many thanks.

I have many usb sticks and a ext drive and none of them will install on my desktop. Everything works on my laptop with no problems.

I have uninstalled from device manager and reinstalled drivers. I have the drivers. They show up in Device manager as active an working, however when i insert a usb drive/stick i get yellow exclamation point under disk drives, and a msg in properties says cannot start device (code 10). I tried many times to uninstall and reinstall drivers. Changed sata cables and sata inputs. It's not one usb port, its the 4 upfront (2 - 2.0 and 2 - 3.0) and the available ones in the back. I do have my keyboard and mouse on usb and they work fine.

Can't think of anything else to try aside from a complete reinstall of windows. Any help in advance would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi George Hayes,
Is the card in the pc now??
When you put it in did 98 say there was new hardware??

First see if the drivers for your card are zipped!!
Look in the folder you put them and double click on it. If it wants to unzip , unzip them to a folder. Then go into device manager(right click My Computer, properties, device manager), find your video card and right click. Select properties. Select driver tab and reinstall driver. Have it search for a suitable driver and point it to where the unzippped driver is.

As experts are always going on about updating drivers, I thought I'd trawl the .net and find the latest drivers for my 2 year old kit.
The first problem I found was the bewildering array of alternative specs for my simple AOpen DVD-CD ROM/AMH player. I have no identifying numbers available to me without stripping out the parts. Any tips out there. I've tried Belarc and Sandra but they just say the same as above.
On tackling the CD-RW CRW3248, I had better luck, except that the advice on the download site said NOT to install the driver in Windows but to use DOS.
This is now brain surgery.
How does one do that?

A:For re-installing OS's, what are drivers?

The manufacturing support site of your computer is the direct download site. Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Gateway, etc. are some of the common sites for ready built OEM computers as motherboards are excluded since they belong to usually custom built desktops. Some or most newer OEM laptops comes with recovery discs or partition made for the particular model that includes the complete setup of pre-installed programs, drivers usually called returning to Factory Condition or System Recovery. Please post the computer brand and model next time.

Been trying to get an older system put together to learn LINUX and can't find Monitor/screen resolution drivers for Samsung's Samtron 77V s monitor. Generally the Plug-n-Play Monitor Monitor driver supplied by Windows by default is just fine and most monitors do not require anything more. If you only have 16 Colors and a resolution of 640x480 then you may need to install teh Video Card drivers to get anything higher.

Hello guys and gals

I recently bought a second monitor for a steal (19" LG). I have been studying up before I actually wanted to install it. Many places say that you need to install the monitor drivers and other places say you don't. So my questions is that have any of you had experience hooking up a second monitor, and if you in fact need drivers or not. When I purchased the monitor it came with no drivers.

Many thanks

A:Drivers for 2nd monitor?

it depends on the input sometimes too a (d-sub) or dvi monitor. (it will only be these two in this case as their wont be a HDMI cable for a 19" monitor)

I recommend you just plug it in, most of the time it will just work, seriously.
If it doesnt that's when you look for the drivers. How are you trying to plug it in, what input are you using? But before you do all this (just to make sure) update your display drivers and your graphics card software first because when you do this, it will eliminate the chances of having to do this later.

Im getting 4 monitors after I hook my pc up into SLI, 2 is fine for me atm. But monitors shouldnt be a problem.

I recently switched my monitor driver to the Plug and Play driver, but have now switched it back to the optiquest v73 driver. The problem is that now it will NOT let me select as many colors or as many pixels as I had before. For example, the list only goes up to "High Color" when previously I had "True Color." Yet even when I select High Color and then reboot, I am still in 256 colors. Similar problem with resolution.

The driver I am using is called MONITR11.INF; it also tells me I am using an "Optiquest V73 on NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX 440", which is true.

Aditionally, shutting down now causes Windows to close and the screen to turn black, but not the tower to turn off.

I believe I have done nothing with the video card or its drivers that could have caused this.

A:drivers for my monitor

CompUSA does not really make monitors. It is probably some rebranded thing from a real monitor manufacturer. Look at the sticker on the back for some model or serial number that could hint the real company that made it.

Strictly speaking you don't need drivers for a monitor. Just choose any decent monitor from the list Windows gives you and force that. Then just try out the refresh rates and resolutions to see which ones actually work with your monitor.

Hello. First, thank you for taking the time to read this message. I'll try and add all the valuable information I can. However, if you need further information to help solve the issue, please let me know. So a few weeks ago I notice that my audio was heavily distorted (like you know that sound your laptop makes when you bump it, that sound). I downloaded Realtek audio HD driver, made sure it was up to date to help with the distortion. Well, then the volume became too low. I kept installing  Realtek audio drivers from HP, removing all realtek devices  (under Sound, Video, Game Controller in device manager), browsing for updates over the internet, etc but nothing work. Additionally, I've gone to Playback devices (under the volume icon in the task bar), selecting my speakers, going to properties, and selecting Enhancements, and selecting "Loudness Equalizer". So far that has helped a little bit. My volume now is at 100% and it sounds like it did when it was 20% (when there were no issues).  Unfortunately, I don't know how long this problem has persisted and I don't think there's a restore point before that time to try and reverse the effects. Is there any way that I can find the original driver that came with this notebook? Currently, I went to device manager>Sound, Video,Game Controller, Realtek HD Audio, update> Browse>  Let me pick>choosing the earliest driver.  Any advice would be really welcome

Hi guys,

I have 2 partitions, 1 for OS and 1 for anything other than that.

I put most of my drivers in C: (wins 7 OS) I observe a slower boot time from ard 8 secs to 20 secs after all the drivers have been loaded.

My question is, will it help if I install the driver in the non-OS partition instead?
Will it work and will it have any consequences in the future?

and what is the average Samsung 830 boot time with drivers and programs? just for comparison..

Thank you very much for your help

A:Installing drivers in non-OS SSD partition?

10-15s should be about right. You can't really install drivers to your secondary partition as they usually copy essential files to system32 for example anyway.

I mean you could always go to msconfig and turn their respective applications off? Realtek HD Audio Manager is a good example, but then you lose that functionality (Volume, device selection, Tests etc)

Hello, I've been trying to install the new ATI 13.1 drivers for my 7770's but during mid install my monitor goes black and never returns. I have waited for an hour, just to make sure its not still installing, but it still doesn't come back.
This is not my first time installing drivers, its just not working this time and I have no idea why. I have tried installing it multiple times in both crossfire and non crossfire settings. (I do not have my cards or CPU overclocked)
*Edit: I have also tried using my HDMI with the same result*

Each time after I try to install I have to hard reboot my computer and do a system restore.

Current Drivers are at 12.10

Specs are:
MB: Gigabyte 970A-UD3
GPU: 2 ATI 7770's in crossfire
CPU: AMD 6 core FX 6100
RAM: 16 GB
Monitor: Asus 24" VS247 using DVI in 1920x1080

A:No display after installing ATI 13.1 drivers

you could try the 13.2 BETA:
AMD Catalyst 13.2 BETA (12.100.0 January 1) Unofficial - Forums

it cured my problem with Cyberlink Blu-Ray playback
- kept giving me a very dark (almost black) screen

..oddly enough - DVD playback wasn't affected.. (?)

the 13.2 BETA seems to run OK, though it's an unofficial release at the moment,
so I guess you have to take your chances..

no problems, so far..

Once you unzip a driver file without a setup program, how do I install a driver for a hard ward into the C drive.

A:Installing Drivers from a Zip File

Generally, you'd start at the other end. Open Device Manager, right-click the device you want to install and choose Update. Then, choose not to allow it to search automatically when it asks and direct it to the (unzipped) folder containing the driver.

It will be looking for an .inf file that contains the setup information. Once you have indicated the path to that file, you should be all set.

Does that look like it will work or do you have some other setup?

Hello everybody!

Ok, so a couple days ago i turn on my computer and bam no audio. Clicking on the little sound icon only shows "No audio output device installed". double clicking on it brings up a msdt.exe that only leads to an error "0x80070490". Because my sound is connected through HDMI connected from my graghics card to my tv and then out through an external speaker system, i simply unplug the speaker's cord from my tv and plug it into the output on the back of my computer and it started working again back to normal. However a day later it completely stopped working again.

So of course i scour the internet for help, i uninstall and re-install the drivers to no avail through device manager. I have installed Catalyst drivers before i dont know what could be causing this problem. I even downloaded the 8.9 version and got the same issue. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Thanks in advance. Specs below.

A:Problem Installing ATI 8.10 Drivers

Try uninstalling the old drivers, deleting the ATI folder In "C" drive, Reboot into safe mode, go to device manager and uninstall the video card along with the driver (check the remove drivers box, if it shows up). Reboot. Install new drivers.

You might have to reboot twice before the new drivers install, that happened to me once. That's it. You may have got something messed up which is preventing you from installing the new driver in the first place.

These procedure do work on Vista 64 as I too have Ultimate64 with a 4850 card.

I have an old Auzentech X-Plosion Cinema sound card and Realtek audio connections on my P8P67 motherboard.

Would there be any problems if I installed drivers for both and switched between them?

A:Installing two audio drivers

You can only have one default audio playback device but not both at the same time. Unless you run into a conflict it should work OK. Just as noted you will have to manually change the default playback device to whichever one you want to use in the Sound Panel.

Hi there, im trying to install windows 7 on my brothers laptop because he corrupted XP somehow. I downloaded a copy of win 7 and used the command line method to copy the contents of the iso to the usb so it could be bootable. The flash drive was never used on my brothers laptop. after booting, i clicked install windows 7. I got 1/3 of the way through the collecting info part when a message popped up that states "no device drivers were found. make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers." does anyone know the "correct drivers" and how to get them? fyi the laptop is the compaq mini 110

I've just done a clean install of Win 7 (w/HD format) without much problem. I've also downloaded all device drivers from my mobo manufacturer (Asus) and Nvidea video card, etc. I'd like to replace some of the Win 7 default drivers (chipset & audio for example) with the one's I've downloaded (they all contain setup.exe apps to install them).

My simple question is, can I just run the device driver setup.exe over the Win 7 default drivers, or do I need to go the each device in Device Manager and use the "Driver Update" and (I think) locate the correct .ini file or use some other method? Obviously using the set.exe is easiest, so long as there are no problems installing over the Win 7 default drivers (some of which seem to lack some of the manufacturer's device functionality). Please help! Thanks a lot, -- S

A:Installing Manufacturer Drivers

You should be able to install the drivers using the executable (exe) without messing with device manager. So go ahead, use the installer... Only if the installation fails would you do driver update. Driver update doesn't always find the best drivers for the devices.

I upgraded from a pair of HD4870X2's, to a single 5870, expecting a second imminently. I uninstalled all drivers, changed cards, and have not been able to install the latest 10-1 drivers. The previous drivers are fine, but these refuse to load. I have disabled anti virus, tried safe mode (no go there), completely removed previous drivers, and it straqight refuses. CCC tells me I have no drivers installed, and I get 800x600 res, nothing else.
When I try to load, I sometimes get the Łthis program may not have installed correctly" during installation. This is driving me up the wall- I cannot find any reason for them not to load, yet they still wont.

My computer recently crashed, and I am going to put ubuntu as my operating system rather than windows. When I got my computer, I had to reinstall the driver for the wireless card. Will I have to do that? If so how, and where do I find the driver? I hae a driver recovery cd that came with my computer, however I don't know if that will work with anything besides windows.

A:Installing Drivers with UBUNTU

Hi ... I see you are kind of new , so I will explain this so you might understand , First off this forum room is for windows xp only , not for Ubuntu , Next you need to go to Ubuntu forum site which I will add the website for it below , I am also using Ubuntu at the moment and I am new to Linux system as well but from my understanding you need to enter the correct codes in Ubuntu for your drivers , Linux isn't the same as Windows when it comes with drivers , Its a totally different way of loading programs/drivers which I am learning myself , Any ways here is the link below for Ubuntu

BTW >> Ubuntu seem to very interesting OS and its going to be fun to learn and use ....

Before i do a windows install i use everest and find the info i need to get drivers.
After i do a windows install i go to dev mgr to see what drivers i am missing and go hunt them down, often at the mobo mfgr website of course. And often i have to get the drivers for pci and pci-e cards that arent built into the mobo.
But i am wondering if there is an easier way to do this. I see people offering to do a windows install and get all the drivers for $30 and i wonder how they can do all that for only $30. There must be a quicker way?
Is it by using one of those driver programs?
Thanks in advance as i know there will be some good replies!

Just looking for some advice if possible. Recently got a new laptop - dell inspiron 15 r se i5 3rd gen etc (Regret my choice but you live and learn).

Anyway I'm having a lot of issues between amd radeon and intel 4000 graphics cards reverting to an old driver after I have installed the latest ones. They work as they should on installing them , i.e I can use widi, catalyst control centre etc, but every time I shutdown and reboot the system reverts to the old drivers and therefore Widi and catalyst control centre don't work.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Doing so installs the latest drivers and everything works, however when I power down and power up again the old drivers end up overriding and installing themselves. Can anyone give an explanation for this and/or help me to correct the issue? Very very frustrating. I have literally spent hours upon hours trying to sort the issue between the aforementioned drivers, widi connectivity and amd ccc.

Really appreciate any guidance

A:old drivers installing after reboot

Latest drivers from where? Dell or AMD? With switchable graphics you should be only using the drivers from the laptop manufacturer, so in your case Dell.

If you don't need to want the switchable graphics you can disable that feature in the BIOS and use only the AMD card and then you should be able to use the latest generic AMD drivers as long as Dell has not requested AMD block the installation.

I recently bought an Nvidia 7200 GS graphics card for my computer, but it is causing problems. I plugged in the card and booted up, and it somehow found a driver for it (maybe on the driver cd I had inserted). I then enjoyed 20 minutes of dual monitors, but then I had to restart the computer. Ever since, Windows 7 will not load. It displayed the startup animation, then promptly froze. I unplugged the card, and it booted up fine, and I downloaded the latest drivers from the manufacturer's site. However, I cannot install them, because the it could not find any hardware for the drivers! How can I install the drivers in Windows 7, if I cannot start Windows with the card installed?

I am currently using Vista that I have installed on another hard drive. However, I don't know if even this will boot up again if the card is plugged in.

I have used vm box in the past and recently deleted it and reinstalled a newer version with the extension pack. But it will not allow any of the device drivers to install for anything. I have reinstalled the extension pack numerous times but no change.

I'm wondering if it could be a driver not installed on the host system. Also, wondering if i need to adjust under Settings - Network. I adjusted some and no difference; will try a few more but don't expect a change to occur.

When i open vmbox it immediately says installing device driver software in the guest taskbar, but is not able to in the guest os, but it does install in the host os. If i put in a flash drive or external wifi adapter, the device drivers won't install in the guest vmbox; they do in the host os. No drivers will install in guest os/ vmbox.

In the Settings, under USB, i have added the flash drives, both specifically for each flash, and the all-inclusive generic on the right side of the screen.

I downloaded the 5.0 yesterday and installed both the main vmbox and 5.0 extension pack. Had the same problem with the version before the 5.0.

Using windows 7, inspiron 5520 dell laptop.

What do you think the problem is?
Thanks in advance.
