Hey Zizou I am actually in the exact same boat as you right now. I'm looking for a sub 2k notebook. Here are a few things you might find useful that I did:

The Centrino's have just gone through a yearly hardware refresh called Santa Rosa. Since these are brand new Centrino's not all the notebooks that will use them are avaliable yet. By around the end of June though, they should all be pretty much on the market. I'd really suggest waiting until at least then before you upgrade.

Now the mods here may kill me for this, but I found notebookreview.com and specifically their What notebook should I buy? section to be very helpful.

Personally I'm leaning towards getting a Compal IFL90 barebones and customizing it with powernotebooks.com. Here's the deal i was able to get on their site:
PowerPro J 10:15 FORCE

Display: 15.4" WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050) "Glossy" LCD w/PCI-e nVIDIA GeForce Go 8600 w/512MB (Shipping mid-June)

Just be aware the above is a pre-order, so it's likely not the exact specific specs. But in comparision to what your looking at this has the T7700 proc, which is .2 ghz faster, plus it's FSB is 800mgz. Also the gfx card is a 8600, which means it will also support DX10 games (on a laptop no less ). Though it's not as fast as the GeForce Go 7950 GTX 512MB, it's more future proof.

The cost above is with all the fancy things like bluetooth. If you don't want all the bells and whistles then you could likely knock another hundred or two.

Also the above has a 15.4" monitor instead of the 17" monster you are looking at. Honestly, if it was avaliable I would get a 14.1" with similiar specs. If you plan on doing any moving around at all it will be very hard with a 17" notebook. If however you intend it as a desktop replacement then it should be fine.

The big upside of the notebooks you list is their larger HD space. But if you have a desktop then I would just offload a lot of that to your desktop.

First time posting here obviously. So I'm looking for order(too busy/lazy to put one together myself) a new PC to update my current junk pile. Was thinking about using CyberPowerPC, but am unsure about them for various reasons(bad reviews / previous issue with online bought pcs myself). Figured I would ask on a forum or two about them and a build I slapped together. Any insight / criticism welcome.

How much does this cost, what is your budget and what do you plan on using the PC for?

Hi everyone so I've been running a T1100 AMD CPU for a while and I hate it, it's done well but in the last few months the whole system has gone to pot so I figured I'd make the move back to intel.
Now I was planing on getting a single GTX690 but then for the same money/slightly less money I can get crossfired HD7970's 6000MHz.
So this was my planned setup and it hit's the mark all par the OS but I can't get an OEM copy of windows 7 so I might have to move over to 8 for £60...

Intel i7 3770K 3rd gen
Asus P8Z77
2x Gigabyte HD7970 3GBGDDR5
Coolermaster HAF XM with GX lite 700watt PSU
8GB Corsair Dominator RAM 2666MHz
internal Blu-ray drive
Segate 750GB hybrid SSD plus an extra 1TB drive for Steam games
Windows 8 64Bit

So what does everyone think? I'll be running on a 32" 1080p Samsung LED TV.

A:£1500 rough budget for new PC

I would get rid of the 2666Mhz and just pick up 1600Mhz RAM. Also, what is the purpose for this PC? If it is for gaming I would probably knock the 3770K down to a I5-3570K.

I would go with a different PSU then the one you listed. For crossfire cards 700w will power them, but I'd opt for something around 800-850w range. This will allow you some headroom for the future.

When it comes to 690 vs 7970 CFX it all comes down to patience. When running two cards you will often run into driver issues and things such as micro stuttering. Additionally, it create much more heat and noise. So, if you can deal with things like that - go with the 7970's. If not, go with the 690.

For your storage, I would opt for a regular SSD instead of a hybrid and just buy a larger secondary drive.

A:New PC - rough budget $1500

Why do you need 2x GPUs but a weak CPU and little RAM? Even if you were doing graphic intensive tasks like Photoshop or running CFD simulations, you will still need large amounts of RAM and a good CPU.

Hi I was looking to build a new PC for my dad for father's day or his birthday and he would use it to run two small businesses and also for media (such as watching high definition movies, video/audio editing, photoshop, etc.) I would also be using it to game whenever I come home from college but thats not as important as fulfilling all his needs.

My budget would be around $1000 to $1500 as previously stated in the title. I won't be needing any peripherals, and I plan on using the cooler master haf x tower.

Any suggestions on the rest of the build? This would be the first build by myself but I've helped and observed a few other builds. Any help would be appreciated!

A:New PC build, budget $1000 to $1500

If you could be a little more specific about what you'll need it for; running a small businesses is broad.

Do you need a blu ray drive?
I suggested two 2TB drives in RAID I for data redundancy, which I would think might be important, but that's to your discretion; same goes for the capacity.

Best Gaming Laptop- $1000-$1300

Hey, recently my friend has been thinking about buying a new gaming laptop, and his budget is around 1000-1300 dollars. He isn't really expecting much at all from that price range, but if at all possible he would like to be able to play games like UT3, Gears of War, and Bioshock at High or maybe even max graphics. Any suggestions?

A:Best Gaming Laptop- $1500-$2000

Just look for maximum memory (2-3GB), big hard drive (100GB +), fast processor (3GHz+) and good graphics capability, in the price range you posted. There are AlienWare laptops that are built for gaming but they are very pricey $$$

Pretty soon I plan on building a computer for my brother with around $1500 - 2000 for his budget and I want to get some good parts for it. The price will have to be with a monitor so im figuring its going to be about $2000 with a monitor $1500 without. I wanna try SLI, probably go with Intel quad core(Q6600), 4gb ram, and air cooling. I have been looking into the EVGA 780i motherboard because I heard some pretty good things about it. Here is a list that I am considering. Please feel free to suggest, add, or remove anything from my list. I thank you in advance for any help that you provide.

Q6600
2 x 8800gts g92
EVGA 780i
4gb Corsair Dominator PC2 8500
OCZ 700w PSU
500gb 7200.10 barracuda HDD
Samsung 2493HM 24" lcd monitor

EDIT: Vista x64 and xp pro dual boot

I feel obligated to intro myself since I moderate a forum and know how spammers and trollers don't bother to do that. Hope I'm observing forum protocol or not providing too much info at one time.

Got an HP G56-WM129 on Black Friday 2010. Know it's a budget computer, yet outperforms four prior Windows xp machines. I've already read some of the threads here to speed thing up by reducing the services booting up, deleting Windows updates, turning off Aero and the high graphics, etc.

My objective is to have this notebook running as fast and as stable as possible.
Notebook - 15.6 inch, 1366 x 768 (common)
WiFi (standard)
DVD drive (standard)
3 USB ports, one of them USB 2.0
3 GB RAM (DDR2) - upgradeable to 6 GB
Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit
Intel Celeron 900 CPU - 2.2 GHz
250 GB disk - 97 GB used
Added 16 GB flashdrive with 4 GB Readyboost
500 GB external USB harddrive

Windows Experience: 3.3CPU: 4.4
RAM: 5.1
Graphics: 3.3
Gaming Graphics: 3.3
Hard disk: 5.9

Run:System Mechanic Pro
CCleaner
Defraggler
COMODO internet security
SpeedFan - CPU is 106F to 130F

Aside from general tuning advise, is ReadyBoost going to help me? Would replacing the harddrive on this budget notebook with an SSD make sense?

A:Introduction - Attempting to tuneup a budget HP Notebook

It really boils down to what you want to do with this machine. If it is just for networking like surfing the web, watching youtube and doing emails then I would not worry to much about it.
With the cost factor of SSD drives I would say no because the main drain of your system is the graphics and there is nothing you can do about that.

I'm trying to put together a powerful computer that will last a very long time.

I'd like an Intel quad-core processor, at least 4GB of DDR3 RAM, multiple USB slots, FireWire, wireless capabilities, a fast DVD drive/burner, a good sound card, and a fast HDD (preferably 500GB or over).

I need a good graphics card (or two graphics cards, depending on the other hardware) that can handle Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 2, and other more demanding games.

Also, a case to hold everything together, enough power, cooling, etc.

I'll be using the computer for gaming, video editing, graphics design, and generally very demanding operations, all at the same time.

It would also be nice if the computer is easy to upgrade as new technologies come out.

I have about $2000 available to me (not including the OS, monitor, keyboard, and mouse, which I'll take care of later).

I've been doing some research, but it's more complicated than I thought. I'd be grateful if anyone could recommend a build or any sort of advice.

A:Building PC with $2000 Budget

with a core i7 setup you should be good for a while, Which will leave you happy with under a 2k budget.

You'll soon get post here about core 2 duos that can overclock to 4ghz. Those are all fine and dandy, they do their jobs well. On a 700-900 budget.

I'd recommend an core i7 setup, with a 3 or 6 gig ram kit. I think the asus and Gigabyte boards are great.

You may see a price drop after jan 8th when nvidia drops their new cards. I'd usually say a 4870 1gb version or a 4870x2 with your budget.

I just wanted to be sure I didn't have any Hijackthis/malware problems.
I have good ping/traceroute times (under 100), and I have done the usual resetting the modem/router etc.
I ran cwshredder, spybot, and adaware & did 2 online virus scans.
PC is running normally otherwise.

A:Need Help Building a Computer: $2000 Budget!

You won't need any more fans with that case.
Anyways, to get a decent monitor, I would go for GTX285: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127403 It's single core(GTX295 is two GTX260s on the stuffed on a single card), less hiccups, lower price, will be great in two-way SLI anyways. And you won't need to worry about the PSU that much. Or if you want as much power as GTX295 has, get Radeon 4870X2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102768 (I'd not recommend, too much money to be spent and you won't get PhysX. If you don't buy a PCI version of Geforce 8400 GS to handle PhysX Not a bad idea actually :O)
Aaanyways. I wouldn't do this as a first-ever build. Too much money into it, IMO. Still, there are really no big difficulties in assembling PCs, so it is very propable for you to make this happen.

Hi, Try to run a diagnostic test Turn your computer offthen turn it back on and keep on tapping on ESCLook for Diagnostics F2Look for component test, Hard drive test, then click quick check then run once. It will then check your computer's hard drive. After the test it should give you a result if the hard drive pass or fail with a failure id number If the computer pass. Try running malwarebytes to your computer (I know that the antivirus of your computer is updated but we wanted to check if there are virus infection present) Try downloading bios update. Please refer here on how to install the bios update http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/randomly-shuts-down/m-p/5603375... Note: Please disable your computer's log in password just to make sure you won't encounter any locked up issues after bios update by going to  RUN then type netplwiz then uncheck the box click apply then enter your password and re enter it (Just dont mind the user)

A:HP 2000 Notebook PC

Dee33 If you did the Win10 Upgrade and are now trying to revert back to Wion8, I have some bad news for you. While Microsoft tells you that there is no risk in the Win10 Upgrade, because they let you believe that you can always revert back to your original OS and setup within 30 days, the ugly fact of the matter is that the Win10 GoBack function has proven to be unreliable -- and when it fails, it can leave machines in a corrupted state -- which doesn't always happen, but it does happen often enough to be a problem and you won't get any warning in advance that it is going to trash your PC!The Win10 Upgrade is know, in some cases, to corrupt the Recovery partition stored there by the OEM that built the original machine.  This pretty much guarantees that no HP Recovery is going to work. So, any attempt to use F11 to do a restore is doomed to failure. Are you trying to use the Recovery Disks, by booting from the first one, and they are not working? If so, what is happening when you try to use them? We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue. The above requested information can be found on the bottom of your computer or inside the battery compartment. Please do not include your serial number.  It will be necessary to set the SATA settings in BIOS to IDE mode. If your computer doesn't support this option, you will need to "slipstream" SATA / AHCI drivers into the Windows XP disc using a utility such as nLite OS. Please click the white KUDOS star to show your appreciation

I pressed the power button and nothing happened. I unplugged it and plugged it again and nothing. It has been working fine for the 3+ years that I've had it. Please help

Depends on the settings. You can change it to be always on or always off via the bios, or the system settings in windows. But if you set it to always off, the fan will turn on either way if the cpu gets over 70c

I nave zero connectivity either through the wireless connection or ethernet connection. I have seen several posts regarding this issue, however, the links to the drivers only take me to the main HP support page.  I have tried downloading the drivers suggested by HP however, when installed on the PC I get the error message stating "The program might not have been installed properaly". I have tried several of the ralink drivers (secifially the 802.11b/g/n WLAN driver) with no success.   Any help would be much appreciated!!

Last week I purchased an HP 2000 notebook with windows 8 installed I now wish to return and upgrade for a model with a faster processor. I only have a very few personal items on it such as my email address, windows password administrator details and log in passwords on a couple of apps. Therefore I am considering doing a factory reset to remove my personal information and any passwords I have installed. There is no windows key on the notebook itself. In the windows information there is a product ID number which I do not think is the windows key and another which seems to be it but consists of some asterisks and just the last five letters of a key therefore, I am uncertain about what I need to do.I am not very good with computers but as far as I can ascertain I need to do a factory reset via the HP repair software and not any other way.Any advice as to how I should proceed and what precautions I should take would be most welcome (I have watched the specific HP video on this proceedure, maybe I'm just stupid but I found it only added to my confusion).Don

Hello

First:
My BIOS does not support booting from a USB device
The Notebook does NOT have a CD-ROM
I am able to access a USB CD-ROM with a bootdisk
I've created 3 partitions, but only the second partition is working, because the harddisk is corrupt
The partion is 7GB large and has the letter D

The Problems I've encountered:
I tried to start the ..\I386\winnt.exe but the setup doesn't see my Harddrive. Windows is unable to locate a appropriate drive with enough space.
Same as above happens when I run the winnt from the harddisk
The setup doesn't start at all when there is no CD-ROM driver loaded, so I cannot just use simple bootdisks
Well, what can I do?? I'd like to load the USB drivers during the bootsetup(using 4 bootdisk) but I do not know how. Does anyone have a idea how to get this installation going?
Thank you

Merry Christmas

I hope someone can help. I have a copy of win2000 upgrade that I used to upgrade a brand new HP notebook PC from Windows ME to Win2000 (upgrade). Everything looks good except 2 things:

When it checked for win2000 compatibility with loaded software (I was just from the factory), it identified that 2000 was not compatible with any of the Windows Works programs that were pre-loaded. (that was fine as I have office xp I'm going to use). When I boot up the computer, I get an error message box saying:
WKSCal.exe -unable to locate DLL
The dynamic link library MSVCP60.DLL could not be found in specified path (.....yada-yada)
Question 1- how can I get that error message to go away for good since I don't need to ever use that file.

Question 2- win2000 shrank the screen display of the windows desktop, it doesn't fill the whole screen. It is shrunk on all 4 sides aproximately 20%. I have adjusted the screen resolution in the control panel/display/settings to the more setting and it does not help. The other parts of the screen are black and acts like the monitor is small.

I appreciate anyone's help on this. Thanks.

My laptop probably suffered some damage within the couple years that I have had it but never had any running problems with my baby. I recently went to turn my computer on and the screen stayed black. The fan is still running and LED lights are still lit so I do not know what the problem is. I think it could be the monitor but I do not have an external monitor to test it on. I know that I am running on the Windows 10 OS but I  am not sure if it is 32-bit or 64-bit

A:HP 2000 Notebook (Energy STAR)

Try a hard reset.  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768 Without an external monitor it is going to be hard to test if it is the screen panel. Do you see the hard drive light blinking like there is activity? Do you hear sounds? Can you get into the BIOS (F10) or diagnostics (F2) as you power up?

Currently my notebook has the standard 4GB of memory using the HP provided Hynix HMT451S6AFR8A SoDIMM, 12800 DDR3L-1600, 1.35V. I have been looking to replace it with either Kingston HyperX, HX316LS9IB2_8, DDR3L-1600 (2x4GB) kit or the Crucial Ballistix Sport CT6278900, DDR3L-1600 (2x4GB) kit. Both have 9-9-9 timings. My question is will the memory with lower timings and the density of the chips work on my HP 2000-2d37cl notebook with an AMD A6-5200 CPU? Also I was curious about postings in the forums where persons had lost the Admin or other passwords on theirHP 2000 notebooks or they purchased a used notebook that had a unknown password. They provide the codes from the error on screen and the reply's from techs allowed them to get past this and reset their systems. I hope I never have that problem, however where exactly are the techs getting the codes from? Is there some program or document available that has the code alogrithm? Thank You.

Hey guys, I've been noticing a strange issue with my 2011 HP 2000 Notebook laptop for quite some time and figured
I should look into asking for some assistance. For a long while now, my laptop, at very random and less-than occasional times, will make a squealing sound or a long beep, and then something inside clicks rather loud. I've noticed lately that I have received a "BAD_POOL_HEADER" Blue Screen error a few times, twice when I would wake the computer from Sleep Mode, and once while a Windows 7 update was in progress. Luckily, after my computer restarted from the one Blue Screen, the update continued like normal. I've also noticed once in a while if I shut the computer down, right before the laptop completely powers off, it may make a quick beep and click before powering off. I'm a little scared, as I don't know what could be the issue. I feel as though it's the HDD, but I don't know, hence why I'm asking for help here. Can someone help me out? Thanks!

I have a dv6t with the i7  720m processory from about 3 yrs ago build. I think it has clarksfield processor. I have a 2 x 2 gig installed for total of 4gig now from the original build.   I am wondering (assuming Win  7 64 bit home premium which supports up to 16gig), will this laptop only support 8gig?  I ran a tool and it has a reference of Logical/Chipset memory banks  maximum memory installable of 32gig and a reference to Computer memory controller Max installable memory of 8gig.  So what gives? Will the laptop support 2x8gig memory sticks or just 2x4gig memory sticks?  The DV6T 2000 CTO Entertainment laptop.  If it supports 16 gig, I would like to just buy one of the 8gig rather than 2x4gig sticks. And maybe try to use one of the 2 gigs with the 8gig giving me 10gig for now...or just wait to see if I need a 2nd 8gig.  And will a bios upgrade support the 16 gig?

A:DV6T 2000 CTO Entertainment Notebook with i7 72QM processor...

I figured I would update my own question with the truth and working answer which hopefully helps anyone else that stubmles into this.  But in a nutshell the DV6t 2000 CTO models one could order about 2009 DO DO DO support 16gig and NOT just 8 gig. I have 2 slots. I have the 720QM quad first edition, yes first edition. Both Intel site and Memory checker sites are WRONG!  The saying was 1st gen cpu quads do not support more than 2x4gig=8gigs.  In fact one of my tools suggests I can put in up to 32gig assuming I can find 2 x 16gig memory sticks that I don't even think exist yet for general sale let alone affordability. Spread the word as hopefully this will help others. I bought memory at egghead and figured I would chance it since I read several reviews and comments in various locations suggesting they tried 16gig and indeed it worked for the 720QM processor.  I did not have to update my BIOS that HP last suggested I install circa 2010ish as opposed to the 4 or so that are available today for my model but I think were updated to support other things my model did not require. I ran memory tests too in 5 iterations without issue and in fact it booted right away with no problems with WIN 7 home premium recognizing the sticks. I also checked the CPU64z tool  tab for memory.

My computer was hacked October 30 2015. i believe it happened when i opened an email to upgrade to windows 10. At that time my computer was turned into a server and a network manager took over. Whilst doing so this person had deleted my recovery partition. Its taken almost a year to figure this out due to the fact i do not know a **bleep** thing about computers. So here is my question: How do i get the recovery disk? I cant find it anywhere on HP website.

let me start from initials ...i have a hp notebook 2000 from 5 years , there was everything good until i used a data recovery software. When i was using the software to recover some data i stopped the file searching in mid, THATS WHERE MY BAD LUCK CATCHED ME after some time i stopped rec. soft. from task manager but when i tried to use it again there was some red lines showing me that there are some bad sectors in my disk . i tried to reboot but it stucked on  bios saying hard drive is inaccesible i bought a new drive shopkeeper said me your lappy heats up too much so put it on a service i said ok i after cleaning my laptop i installed fresh window 7 os in it after 1 day screen of laptop sudden goes white and it was completely off i tried to turn it on but only power on led was blinking i unplugged battery and kept it for two days after two days i plugged battery and tried to start ,, it was started but for only 5 min. now alomst after 5 days its caps lock is blinking , shopkeeper said me keep it in front of sun for 1 day it wil start but i  am in darkness plz sir or friendz help me asap

A:my hp notebook 2000 is not starting but caps lock is blinkin...

The heat damaged the motherboard. You can try keeping it in the sun. Kind of a substitute for baking the main chipset which sometimes works temporarily to melt the solder connections and get everything flowing again but never lasts very long.  The data recovery did not cause this, by the way, just a coincidence.

A:internal microphone on HP 2000 notebook laptop not working

Hello maggie75. I understand that you're having some problems with your microphone. You should try recording audio in another application so that you can determine whether this is an issue with the application or the microphone. Try the following.Click Start, type "sound recorder," and press Enter. This opens the Sound Recorder application.Attempt to record sound.Verify whether or not you hear sound.Post the result.Also. you may need to update some software. If this is the case it will be helpful to have your product number. This document can show you where it is located for me.I will await the result of this. I hope you have a great day!

Alrighty! Here goes!

I've been searching online for five hours looking for fixes for this. I recently replaced the Windows 8 on this Notebook with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Edition because, simply put, I bloody hate Windows 8.

This has become problematic for me because it appears that there are no compatible drivers that pair Windows 7 and this device's hardware.

I posted in Yahoo Answers about an hour and ten minutes ago and I'm incredibly frustrated with the results (go figure). A link to that question, in case I forget any information I mentioned there: Downgrading to Windows 7 with HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook? - Yahoo! Answers

The product information page for the HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook is located here: HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook PC Product Specifications HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook PC | HP? Support

I have several drivers that are "Out of date." The main one that I'm worried about is the Graphics/Display driver. On the HP website, the device is listed as: Intel HD graphics 3000 with up to 1696MB total graphics memory.

I've tried installing the Windows 8 drivers (which do nothing) and I have also tried updating my drivers through Windows Update. I've also visited HP's driver site, Intel's, and even NVidia, I believe, all to no avail.

I'm hoping that an informed someone can tell me whether or not there are drivers for my graphics chip, and if there are, where I can find them and how I can install them in working order.

Thank you so much for any help! ... Read more

Not a lot of info here1) Can you access the BIOS /CMOS screen2) IF yes can you move around the screens and or see that the system has recognised the hard drive. Does the system make any strange noises? How long does it take to switch on ?Is it getting over hot? What happen eventually?Do you can you power it off easily or do you have to hang on to the power button to get it to go offWith it powered OFF!Have you tried removing the hard drive?Reseatting the Memory?Removed the Optical drive? If no then try this below.  Try using a boot DVD/CD to establish if the system will 'get out of bed' Or a linux boot flash stick you can then see if the system is viable and or if the system can access the Hard drive(s) It will also allow you to recover the data transfer to a flash stick.

So i got this hp 2000 notebook pre installed win 8 from a friend. I did some HP tests and shows HD short DST Failure.
I was able to refresh the pc and it does run per sa but constant always getting dst failures. So i assume its dying. I bought a new hard drive for the unit. Now if i put it in, will windows setup pull the product key from the bios? I put windows 8 on a usb key. Can anyone guide me through the process?

Hi, if the PC came originally with Windows 8 preinstalled the product key is embedded in the BIOS so it would be detected automatically. Here is a great tutorial how to install Windows 8 Clean Install - Windows 8.

Hi, As you are confirming that issue is intermittent, and now its working fine, it means that issue would be of display cable. The display cable would be loose. Issue can be fixed by refixing the display cable, if the issue persists then the display cable needs to be replaced. This is the only reason, I asked you in the previous post whether issue was intermittent or display view changed while moving the display lid. This particualr issue has nothing to do with the temperature. Regards,Sumit I am an HP Employee

My niece is looking for a laptop for her son possibly for a holiday gift. Office Depot has this machine for $299.00 after $50.00 rebate, and being considered the nerd of the family they always ask me, but I am not familiar with this processor. He just started high school and would be doing some homework, browsing the net, and if any, light gaming on the laptop. He does his gaming on his Xbox 360 at this time. So unlike me who is big into MS Flight Simulator and pc programs like this, he does not do any kind of things like this on their existing old home computer. What about heat issues? And I am sure the ram could be upgraded but almost sure there is no need for his purposes.

Here are the specs:

"HP - Notebook - 15.6 inch - 3 GB RAM - Windows 7 - 320 GB disk - Intel CPU - 2.13 GHz CPU - With DVD Drive - 1366 x 768 - Widescreen - 5.5 pound - 4 hour battery
The Pavilion 2000-210US 15.6 Notebook Computer from Hewlett-Packard is a 15.6 notebook computer that weighs about five and a half pounds. The computer's 16:9 widescreen display features LED backlight technology for superior image quality and enhanced energy efficiency. The system is powered by a dual-core 2.13GHz Intel Pentium P6200 CPU and boasts 3GB of RAM a 320GB 5400rpm hard drive a SuperMulti DVD burner Bluetooth 2.0+EDR 802.11n Wi-Fi and integrated Intel GMA HD graphics. Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) is the installed operating system."

My windows installer obviously is having some problems... I have tried locating the msiexec.exe in the tskmgr, but it doesn't exist - so there's something somewhere still trying to install. I have rebooted 4 or 5 times without relief, and have researched many other articles on this, though they really are limited.

I can't run the windows installer cleanup thing b/c it has to install itself, but can't obviously complete an install.

There's nothing in the registry under hkey_local/software/microsoft/windows/installer
as a matter of fact the installerProgress directory doesn't exist

Any help would be appreciated ... i don't want to run another system recovery

Oh, this all begin when trying to install DreamWeaver 8 a couple hours ago and hasn't stopped since, but might have occured because of a previous problem (i also installed ws ftp pro tonight)

Also, since the inception of this annoyance, the computer has been starting EXTREMELY slow, shutdowns are normal.. but start ups are crappy

log file attached

A:error 1500

Well after some time and a few hours away from the computer, I came back and turned off all the norton/symantec and other non-windows services in the msconfig console, as well as the norton/symantec stuff in the startup programs....

the shutdown issues went away, and I was able to install again... once again affirming a comment made by my friend that norton is the devil

uninstalled the program and it blew a whole in my registry somewhere as it didn't like being unsinstalled apparently, rendering my device manager non-viewable and my sound drivers useless and corrupt

luckily i found the most awesome fix for this called aproposfix.exe that you can search for and find ... download it and then run the executable file in safe mode, following the instructions... it will then prompt you to restart the computer normally and it will have hacked some awesomeness into your computer, restoring your device manager and other problems.. pure genius

so, if you run into an issue where your device manager is empty or there is nothing in my device manager, search for "AproposFix.exe" and the author even, swandog46

here's a link for the download: 302 Found

I'm looking to put together a new gaming / media pc (but im a newb). So far all i have is a blank slate and $1500. I'm going to use this as my primary movie player so a blue disk drive is a must. I'd like good support for 2 monitors, but i wouldn't add a second for a while (so just 1 monitor in the cost of construction). The primary games played will be Oblivion, WOW, and Warhammer online (note that when people ask "but will it play crisis?" id like to be able to say yes). SSD's and DDR3 are preferable.

Any suggestions or builds are welcome.

Thanks.

I am using WindowsXP Home Edition. I had recently installed some Ulead software but it seemed to work fine after that for a few days, anyway. Then when I was doing some cleanup on the hard disk, i may have deleted some shared files with dll files on them, but am not sure.

I have reinstalled the software 3 times = have downloaded the latest driver from Avermedia and even changed the PCI slot it was in. It seems to install but then won't load.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I was wondering since I'm going to be building my own computer and my budget will be $1500 (NOTE: this is also including keyboard (i already have mouse) monitor and Operating System!)

If anyone could please leave some links for good $1500 gaming PC's. This is strictly for gaming I don't care about editing and live streaming and stuff like that. If you leave a link in the description make sure to include that it has a monitor and OS and a keyboard. Also make sure it can run any game near the 50-60 fps mark please and it could hopefully last me awhile as I don't usually have money laying around for upgrades . One final note make sure it is over clockable.

THANKS a lot for helping me in advance!
