Mini Usb 2.0 Ethernet Adaptor

Q: Mini Usb 2.0 Ethernet Adaptor

hi.. i am trying to set up a new router on my pc but i have no ethernet port.... so i bought this 'dongle' from moschip

i followed the instructions inside the packaging which lead me to install the drivers off of a disc.....fine

it then said now plug in the dongle... the computer should recognise it and you should follow the instructions to complete setup....

however the computer treated it as an installed piece of hardware without drivers... and when it begins to install the drivers from the disc, it tels me tht installation failed because it is not intended for this platform..... what do i do??

as far as i can see my pc has all the requirements listed on the back of the packaging :S

thanks (hope ive explained this ok)

I am running a 13" Intel Macbook(NOT a Macbook Pro) with the LATEST version Boot Camp. I purchased today the mini-dvi to video adapter...the one with an RCA video and SVGA video output on one end and the mini-dvi input on the other end. I am connecting it to a 15" Panasonic TV via the RCA video jack.

So, it works fine under OSX, but under XP, it won't. Just a blank screen on the TV under XP.

I've tried changing the display in the display settings, but no luck. On the taskbar in Windows is an icon for 'Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile...'. When I go into the properties for that, there is an option that says

"Multiple Display - Note: Two displays must be connected to the computer before you can use this feature. Please connect another display."

And it says this whether the mini-DVI adaptor is plugged in or not.

So, anyone know of any solution? Is there any way to make this work with what I have?

If it's just a problem with boot camp, like some lack of driver or something, will it be resolved in the next update of bootcamp?

I've heard this is a fairly common problem.

My daughter is going to college! yeaaaaaaaa, I'll have the shower back but no money for soap!

She is told to have a computer with a "10 base T ethernet adaptor". Are they hard to come by? I don't see any mention of network cards on the Dell and Compaq units I am looking at. Are they just standard and therefore not mentioned? How will I know if a unit has them. I am buying on line and never get to talk to any human being.

As always thanks for putting up with my ignorance.

A:ethernet adaptor

Ethernet card is synonymous with NIC (Network Interface Card) so if the unit you are looking at lists either one it has the card. Most new computers have Nic cards but it would be a good idea to ask otherwise one will have to be added. They are not expensive and most cost anywhere from 15 to 25 dollars. As far as speed make sure it is a 10\100 card and not just a 10. I do not think you will find a new computer with just a 10 nor will you find a card rated for only 10 that is new.

I have a very huge issue that needs to be fixed pretty soon. (As in now). I finally got my hands on a copy of Windows XP Home Edition with SP 1b (I think) and got it installed fine with a 45-minute phone call to Microsoft to activate it. I got it working. Except my motherboard's on-board audio card didn't work, among other things like the USB ports not working.

I, against my will, opened IE to use the ActiveX thing to auto-install the drivers for the motherboard. I started clicking and installing, opting to restart later after I was finished with all the updates. So I finally restarted and I get the following error right after the BIOS runs:

What in the world. Anyway, I somehow got that to go away and got Windows to boot (except I can't remember what I did). When Widnows booted, everything was going smooth until I opened Fx and tried to come on-line. Bam. Internet connection not working. A quick peek into the Device Manager and I found that the on-board LAN adaptor wasn't working properly and the motherboard didn't know it was there.

GAH. The audio still didn't work. A closer look at the drivers I downloaded showed me that some of them were for 64-bit systems. Is it possible that I broke it by trying to install 64-bit drivers? Since I didn't reboot after each update, I don't know what happened.

I am on my Aunt's notebook right now, and after ~7.5 hours on the phone... Read more

About one year ago I upgraded to windows 8 and have had no problem until yesterday when I booted up my compaq presario. I was not online... I went to the control panel to troubleshoot my internet connection and was told that my Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration and that "Default gateway" is not available. I am hardwired into my AT&T router (the same router that is serving three other laptops in my home without any problems). I downloaded the v1.7.0.0 driver but I'm not sure if it installed as I am still having to manually reset my ethernet adaptor via the control panel each time I restart the computer. This is very annoying since it has been working fine for over 1 year. Any suggestions?
> Thanks,
> coddfish

A:Ethernet adaptor Issue

Try shutting off any other computer on the network, and shut down the presario too.

Then unplug the POWER cable from the ATT Router for a little over 10 seconds and plug it in, wait about 2 minutes before continuing - I suspect this is a 2WIRE router? More abut that later.

If your Presario is hard wired into the 2Wire, then make sure no other computers are ON and then start the Presario.

Wait until it boots up, then check your connection and see if it is connected.

IF IT IS NOT, open up Internet Explorer and by that I do not mean Firefox, use IE, and enter

And make sure your ATT account is LOGGED IN. Your ATT Login WILL BE your Primary User Email Address plus password.
Even if you do not have the full 2wire router and Wifi station, you will therefore have a Speedstream DSL hub and you will still be able to connect to it and log in to your ATT account, ATT DSL uses something like PPP, it requires a user name and password as well as a current account. But unless the Router Itself is logged in to your account, you will get No internet access to your system.

Since you say that your opther PCs are connecting, then it should be logged in. So when you get into the Device in IE, go to the Broadband settings and there shoudl be Wifi settings, make sure it is seeing your Presario.

You may need a new 2Wire Router, but I suspect you are getting an IP Address collision between your Presario and another PC on the network. You can assign static IP addresses to each m... Read more

This is just something I've come across whilst putting up a network in my house. I've just, for the first time, installed my LAN drivers for my built in Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adaptor (ABIT KV7 mobo). So after that I plugged it via a cat5 ethernet cable into the 10/100 HUB (which at the moment isn't connected to anything other than an XBOX until i get hold of some 15m cabling to connect it to another HUB). Anywho, whilst looking in the event viewer, under applications, I came across the message :

The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was C0000005 from line 44 of d:\qxp_slp\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

Now the strange thing is this message repeats itself each time I reboot until I either A) Disable the Rhine II Ethernet Adaptor OR B)Unplug the cable from my PC....then the error message vanishes. I've googled the search and I came up with a few sites. The most frequent pointed to :

Only problem is Local Security Policies doesn't exist, either because I'm running XP Home or the fact my XP is oem.

Of course I have yet to try the LAN with other PC's but I don't know, in my past endeavors a c0000005 error is usually not such a nice thing.

A:Possible ethernet adaptor corruption?

Ok so I've now linked my PC up to a HUB with another PC, unfortunately the two arn't talking to each other (can't even ping either PC). However I know they are recognising each other as there are events (in the event viewer) which prove that they are there. Only problem is that I'm getting an eventid:8003 at source:MRxSmb saying something about both PC's are the master browser and only one can be the master browser on a specific subnet. I have never had this problem so I'm not sure what it means.

Also I only get this event on one of the PC's, it is also seeing the other PC as in workgroup computers it's icon comes up, only problem is that I cannot access it, it says the network path is unavailable. The other PC has no events to do with the network and cannot even access workgroup computers. Any help on both this issue and the one in my previous post will be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I am unable to install the drivers for my VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adaptor.
This is a NIC built into the motherboard. I have the mb disk with correct drivers and each time I use Hardware Update Wizard to install from disk location, it says Cannot Continue Hardware Update Wizard.

Drivers are correct plus I have downloaded them from internet again

NIC Status in COmputer Manager is: "This dev is not working because Windows cannot load the drivers req for this dev."
It is enabled.

If I use hirens network boot disk and boot to mini xp, the nic works perfectly well and hirens finds drivers from its own generic driver folder.

What is going on here? I am presuming there is a problem with Windows somewhere and not the NIC.

You don't need to use the update wizard, simply run the install program from the CD.

I was trying to install a SSD on a friends laptop and transfer the Windows 7. This laptop had been used for several years but never moved off the desk. I transferred the OS to the SSD, then we turned it around and switched the disks in the bay (HDD out, SSD in).

When we restarted the laptop, we get this message from the BIOS (appr. text):

Fast ethernet adaptor V1.02 - Media test failure - 060510
It recommends to check the wiring.

We had not done anything to any other parts of the hardware than working in the disk bay. The message is the same whether we have the SSD or the original HDD in the bay.

I then switched the LAN off in the BIOS and could boot. But there is no internet now. I also ran sfc /scannow and there were no problems - although the OS can hardly be the cause because it did not even get into the OS.

My friend suspects that maybe some dust moved around inside the box - and there could be some since the PC had not been moved for years (it is a 2007 Toshiba). I am not so sure of that.

Does anybody have an idea what the cause of the problem could be.

Wonder if anyone can help - I installed these for my mum, and it's been working fine.

However, she's apparently changed some settings and isn't sure what she changed. Something in 'Network Connections' or Internet options' etc. Or possibly she says in Outlook Express. Who knows.

Now, no browsers will connect.

IE gives the message: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.
Firefox: Address not found. The browser could not find the host server for the provided address.

Pinging google:
Request timed out.
All the lights are on on the adapters, the Ethernet cable is plugged in, and the Local Area Connection icon in 'Network Connections' is showing as connected.

OS: Windows XP
There was an old dial up connection which is still set up (i.e., the icon's still there in 'Network Connections') and the phone cable's not plugged in to the PC. The computer isn't trying to dial this as far as I can tell.

I've disabled the firewall in case it could be be anything to do with that. It's not helped.

The other PC in another room which I'm posting from is working fine - this is where the first Powerline Adaptor and the router is.

Everything was working fine yesterday - I'm not really sure what to do. Any help much appreciated.

Hi guys

I have tried fixes from all over the Internet and nothing seems to have worked. It seems there is an error in the gateway settings, but I cannot figure out where I'm going wrong. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

I ran out of Ethernet connections on my wireless router, so bought a USB-Ethernet adaptor. I've plugged in my network printer, but seem to have stalled at getting the adaptor to actually have internet access and get on my network.

I have about 4 PCs connected to the network, hence why I've run out of ports directly on the router. All internet and networked devices connected to the router work fine. When I plug the printer into the back of the router it works - the problem is definitely the adaptor.

I've updated the driver, and tried loads of suggestions, but am still stuck.

My Ethernet adaptor comes up as "Unidentified Network - Work network", and no Internet access. This is not a link so I cannot change the network location. My CMD IPCONFIG is as attached.

I really hope someone can help - I've never used this kind of adaptor before, and it's frustrating that the computer sees it and recognises it - it's all set up correctly and displays in Device Manager - but won't get onto the Internet and my network!

Hope someone can help :-)

A:USB Ethernet adaptor set as unidentified network, no internet access

The problem is that nothing is giving your USB Network Adapter an IP Address so its defaulting to 169.254.......

You need to go into network connections and give it a static IP address. You will also need to give your printer a static IP address.

A better way of solving this would be to buy a 2nd user 5-Port Network Switch from Ebay... You're creating yourself more hassle by doing the above.

I've found other threads but nothing that I can make work, potentially because I'm running 64bit. For example I've tried the drivers suggested in posts #9 and #10 on this thread:

If I remove the ethernet card and reinstall it, when the pc boots up it finds the drivers automatically and works fine until the card dissapears from the system again.

Good Afternoon From Japan All!

About 10 months ago I purchased an HP Mini 110 3030NR for my wife before I left home on deployment, and she used it extensively during my absence. I typically build my own desktop systems as I hate bloatware that comes on “off the shelf” systems. However, due to the short amount of time I had prior to departing; I left the Win 7 Starter installed for her instead of formatting.

I returned home a month ago and went ahead with formatting the little bugger and I have run into a small comedy of errors. To make a long story short the following is my situation:

Due to hideous misfortune I had to do a clean install of my personal copy of Windows Vista and remove the stock Windows XP from my netbook.

Many drivers were added my Microsoft during Vista installation but I have no adapter drivers for either wireless or ethernet controllers. Under device manager I have no category for Network Adapters but instead those two controllers are listed under "Other Devices".

Under HP downloads I found the driver for Qualcomm Mobile Broadband Drivers - Gobi1000 when I went through the process of stating my product ID and OS (Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit). I downloaded it onto my pc, saved it to the flash drive I had to use earlier as a bootable drive to install Vista (knew the lack of native cd/dvd drive would eventually haunt me) and then moved the flash drive to the netbook to run install.

After running the setup a blank 'ms-dos' window popped up, stayed blank and then disappeared. There was no confirmation of success of failure in regards to installation of the driver. But under Device Manager they are still listed under other devices and I am unable to do anything with them.

I downloaded, transported and ran the setups for HP help and support as well as the Wireless Assistant. Both run fine on the Mini. The wireless assistant simply states that Windows has no controllers assigned to find connections to maintain.

Hello guys. I have a little issue here. I've got a HP Mini 5103 netbook and I am using Ethernet connection for internet.
The problem is that every time when I am unplugging the the charger from the laptop (meaning: laptop is working on battery power).
I suppose it is some kind of power saving option, but the fact remains that it's totally sucks, cuz then I have to keep the charger plunged all the time.
I tried to check the Advanced power settings, but there is no option to change Ethernet power settings, also I checked in the Devise Manager in Advanced menu of the Ethernet,, but again no luck to find a setting that would disable that function.
Pleas if you know anything about this problem,, help me out here

A:HP Mini 5103 Ethernet is automatically disabling on battery power mode

Hikeman, have you tried the power settings in control panel?
Also, you are checking the power settings while running as administrator?

device manager. for the ethernet card should have a power settings tab if your in admin mode.
Also, you might check the bios settings for power.

I did a windows 7 clean install on my HP Mini 210 4051 nr as part of creating a dual boot with Ubuntu. In Linux the internet works fine, but in Windows 7 it does not. In the device manager I see yellow flags over the ethernet and network controllers. Code 28 (My model does have an ethernet port).

Because the machine cannot connect, I downloaded all the related drivers (everything from the network tab) from the HP website for my model with another computer and then put them all in a folder on the Mini's desktop via USB. When I try to install the drivers through the device manager, and direct it to that folder, it says it finds nothing usable.

Here are the IDs

Ethernet Controller

Network Controller

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

A:HP Mini -Clean Install -Ethernet & Network Controller Drivers Missing

Instead of pointing device manager to those files, have you tried just running the .exe files you downloaded?

That worked for me when I did a clean install on my HP laptop.

Hey so at my apartment complex all I have is wifi available, there seems to be a ethernet port on the wall downstairs but I dont think it works. I was thinking of getting a Wifi to Ethernet adapter but I do not know if that actually will make it so my connection is stable and doesnt get affected by people streaming etc. I notice that it says it would pick up wifi and then I could use my ethernet to connect it to my computer. I don't really understand how all this works. I would like some help figuring out what to do. I can always try that port. or is there something I can plug into that port that would give me a stable connection? I'm running out of ideas. Anything helps. Thanks!

I have an ethernet cable run in my house. What I need to figure out is if there is such thing an ethernet switch that does not require a power source. (or something that can get this situation resolved)

Here is my situation:
I have a cable ran to my basement, and have a bedroom directly above the basement that needs an ethernet run. It is not possible for me to run a completely new cable from the original starting point, so I was somehow hoping to use the cable going to the basement, put a head on it, put it into a switch/hub/splitter and run a cable out of it to the room directly above, and use the other cable coming out to stay in the basement.

Is there something that can do this for me? Is there a better way to do so? What would you suggest? Thanks!

So a couples of days ago my computer lost connection a few times, but it got back up running without any problems, yesterday however I had huge problems browsing trough the internet and had problems connecting to pages several times, but downloading worked just fine, but today I'm not able to do anything, it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting, but when its connected the connection is so bad that I can't access a single site.
I know it must be something wrong with my computer, because I've tested two different cables in two different ports, and I know one of the cables must work since I have no problems connecting to the internet on my Xbox 360, and all the other computers in the house have no internet problems what so ever, including the wireless connection on my laptop, and I also run into the same connection problem even in safe mode.
I noticed that the light on my ethernet port is solid orange, but usually it is green, and I've tried to do a virus scan to check if that might be the problem, but I doubt it since I haven't accessed any pages I don't usually visit in a while and it didn't find any viruses.
I have had some problems with the ethernet port before, but nothing that was permanent, I have experienced that my computer has had connection problems while everyone else in the house have had no problems, but after waiting a bit it suddenly reconnects and has worked just fine for many many months, and I've only experienced this pr... Hi there,

I have a desktop with Windows XP (SP2 32-bit) and a Dell Laptop with Windows 7 (64-bit). Both have one Network Interface card each. Desktop's NIC is connected to a cable modem for internet. I wish to run internet on both the systems, for that I bought a USB-to-ETHERNET connector and an ethernet cable, so that I could connect USB end to the desktop and the other end (with ethernet cable) to my lappy, and could be able to share internet connection. The USB-to-ETHERNET connector came with an installation cd which I have installed already and I have setup the whole connection but unable to share the internet connection. May be there is some configuration problem or so.. Internet is running fine on desktop. Please help...
Thanks in advance..!!!

PS- I am able to connect both the systems by connecting ethernet cable to both NICs.

A:networking using USB-to-ETHERNET connector and an ethernet cable

Upgrade the XP to SP3.

Then show for both systems ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Been having issue for more than a year. When my provider (Charter cable with static ip) drops my internet connection I have to start "at the wall" meaning reboot cable modem then wireless router then reboot laptop to reconnect to internet. Takes 1/2 hour. Charter seems to be dropping internet more and more so this can happen once per week or sometimes every day or 3. Have narrowed it down to this. With internet working just fine. Can use wireless from phone to surf web. Can even enable wireless adapter on laptop and connect to internet via wireless. So internet is not the issue. I very seldom use wireless and instead use my ethernet connection. I keep wireless adapter disabled. Very simply, internet is working. I am using ethernet connection. All is good. Simply unplug ethernet cable from laptop then reconnect ethernet cable. I have no internet until I reboot my laptop. Reboot works fine but getting tired of having to do so every time Charter drops my internet. John

Is it possible to do this without a transcoder?

Basically I want my xbox signal to go to my computer and my monitor, but my monitor only has VGA imput, and my computer only has RCA input ... xbox outputs in either VGA or RCA (but not both), so if there were some way to go from RCA to VGA or VGA to RCA without a 100 dollar transcoder, that'd be amazing.

There are plenty of cables like that online, but they all have "DONT WORK" reviews, so I'm hesitant to buy.

What your asking is "possible," but very expensive.
For instance, here's one, that might work.
The problem is the price, as I doubt you want to pay $300(usd) to make it work.
Converting from dvi-i or dvi-a to vga is simple, since both dvi-i and dvi-a carry analog signals(dvi-i carrys both digital and analog), but dvi-d is digital, and vga is analog, so an expensive converter box is necessary to do the conversion.

Hope this is helpful.

Hi everyone,
i have heard that the graphic adaptor can be increased from the RAM ,lets say we have 256MB of Graphic Adaptor and 1024MB of RAM,can be upgraded to 356MB from the 1024 RAM size.

is that possible ?
your help is highly apreciated

A:increasing adaptor from RAM

No, not by itself. When you increase the total amount of RAM in your computer you are just giving more RAM to the Operating System. If you specifically want more RAM for your Graphics Adapter then you have to specifically assign more RAM to the Graphics Adapter.

This is normally done when you go into BIOS and look up the configuiration of your Graphics Adapter and increase the amount of RAM assigned to it. (Motherboard-specific...may NOT work for you.)

You will not see too big of a change by this, in fact you will not be able to even tell whether the graphics Adapter is working better and providing better resolutions and has become faster than before.

If you really care so much about the graphics then it will be better if you buy a better Graphics Adapter ( in case of normal Desktop Computers ) with lot more onboard (on the Adapter itself ) RAM. This way you will not have to assign the System RAM to the Graphics Adapter.

Despite this I can transfer photos from my phone OK.
The problem is - when I try to use my phone as a modem to connect to the internet it doesn't work because the "peripheral device drivers" are missing and a code 28 message appears.

Hey Guys,

I recently noticed that my external Western Digital 500GB harddrive hadn't booted up with the computer which it usually does. So I tried to manually turn it on, took out the power cord and put it back in but nothing happened, the blue light didn't even light up. I've tried a couple of restarts as well.

Then I looked at the AC power adaptor with it and the light seems to be flickering and flashing, I'm fairly sure this must mean there's something up with it. I never had any clicking noises from the HDD and it doesn't seem to be getting anypower because it doesn't even attempt to boot or light up.

Could my AC adaptor be the problem?
If so what can I do about it?

I invested in a Minix Neo USB-C multiport adaptor which seems to hold just the things I need. Unfortunately I must advice against using it with the Yoga 900s.The good stuff is that it sports a HDMI, two USB3,and a micro as well as normal SD slot, but also a 1Gb Ethernet connector. I thought this is a send from heaven, only one connnection to host that many connections, great. But alas. The Neo runs hot doing all that stuff, I measured 40°C or 104F. All that heat comes from somewhere and this is it, it will drain your battery pretty fast.So it works as long as you plugin power as well but on the road this thing gets really bad notes. Also some USB2 equipment, my Kanto YU2 speaker set is not found by the Neo probably because it uses just a little more power (? but why it is powered by itself!) to be found and operated by the Neo. I would love having lenovo offer a decent USB-C multiport adaptor soon.

A:USB WiFi adaptor

Ah yes, the famous Windows 10 USB WIFI adaptor driver issue. You could try unzipping the drivers and from device manager selecting "have disk" and pointing to the inf file. But I have my doubts for success from posts like this:

F5D8053N - Windows 10 - Belkin Community

I currently have a desktop MB that has wifi on the chip and this solved my USB wifi problems once and for all. You can check this thread when I had a similar problem (post 15).
Solved USB Wi-Fi adapter not showing on tray - Page 2 - Windows 10 Forums

The D Link DWA-182 firmware C worked for me in Windows 10. You have to make sure you have the revision C model (not A). However, even with that there were issues. Windows 10 recognized it as the realtek (chip) drivers. To get the D link drivers showing up (and working) in Windows 10 I had to extract the drivers and point to them in device manager. Then they installed and I didn't have disconnect issues after that (well, most of the time).

You could try this D Link one but make sure your store has a return policy just in case. Otherwise I would suggest a search on all the adaptor manufacturers (Asus, etc) to see if their model actually has a Windows 10 driver to download. If they don't, good possibility there will be an issue.

I need to move my windows 10 desktop away from the router and need to use an USB WiFi adaptor to connect to the internet. I have an older Belkin F5D8053 but It wont download the drivers. Win10 recognises it but cant set it up. The latest Drivers on the Belkin Web Site are the same as I have.

First, Is there a way around this to get it working?

Second, If not can anyone recommend a USB Wifi Adapter that does work with Win10

Hello everybody. My name is DragonYugi. I have a serious problem which has dealt since my internet provider changed my modem to a DSL cable. Since then, some internet pages will not load. I can wait 10 minutes and yet they do not load. At first I thought the internet needs to get things straight with the new computer and such in a few days... Till this day, after 3 months from the changing of the internet connection type, my internet failed me. I started to consider this a serious problem so I started browisng the Control Panel and such very closely in the past weeks. This is what I found out:

In the lower right corner, where an icon with 2 computers and a globe appear, when I role my mouse over it, 2 conenctions appear:
Access: Local and Internet

Unidetified Connection
Access: Only Local
The first one is obviously the name of my internet provider. I always log on to RDS. Now.. the second one.. What does it mean? Does it affect my connection any way? If it is bad... how can I remove it?

Control Panel > Network Connections and Management
After going to the Control Panel, then click on the Network Connections and Management (I have my PC in romanian, which is "Centru retea si partajare" so I kinda tried to translate that), I, again see 2 connections, but this time some more info:
RDS (Public Connection)
Access: Local and Internet
Connection: RDS
And to the right 3 options... one of them being Disconnect.

Unidentified Connection (Public Connectio... Read more

I am really not sure where to start. My b/f wound up getting a virus on his laptop. He got a blue screen that said his computer had been infected with a virus..also the Task Manager was disabled...I managed to get those problems fixed..but now no matter what I do I can not get his internet up and running. I have uninstalled and installed everything SEVERAL times.

Here is what is installed in the computer under Network Adapters:

Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller
Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller - Odyssey Network Agent Miniport
Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller - Packet Scheduler Miniport
Direct Parallel
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection - Odyssey Network Agent Miniport
Intel PRO/Wirelesss 200BG Network Connection - Packet Scheduler Miniport
WAN Miniport (IP)
WAN Miniport (IP) - Miniport SCheduler Miniport
WAN Miniport (L2TP)
WAN Miniport (PPOE)
WAN Miniport (PPTP)

When I try to install the drivers for these...the install process seems to go through and it recognizes them but then at the end of the install process it says .... A problem occurred during hardware installation. Your hardware may not work properly...or something close to that...

Any ideas????

Thank you!!

Have you tried right clicking the desktop and choosing Properties and then Settings? Any other choices there? If not reinstall your video drivers.

My laptop AC-adaptor stopped working. It's output was 19V and 4.74A (~90W). I have one from another computer, also 19V but only 3.95A. Could I use this adaptor?

Someone have told me that I should get an AC-adaptor with same or HIGHER value, and another person told me that if it has higher power the computer could stop working, and that I should get one with same or LOWER value. What's the truth? And why...

Thank you

A:New AC-adaptor for notebook

The voltage is consistant, the Ampage is "drawn" (pulled)
On a 3.95A, the laptop may not start, and can hurt the adaptor (and possibly the laptop trying to pull more amps)
On a 4.74A (the correct ampage) the laptop will draw the correct ampage
On a 5+ A (above the correct ampage) if it still states 19V then it will draw only the desired amount of ampage, and all will be good.

If the adaptor is a higher ampage, sometimes the voltage is also higher (which is not good)
The Laptop only pulls the ampage it needs

I am considering buying a Creative Nomad Jukebox 3 which has Firewire connectivity. The problem is that my 3-year old Dell PC is non-Firewire. Is there a practical way to adapt my PC so that it will accept a Firewire connection, which I hear is MUCH faster than USB?

A:firewire adaptor?

You can buy a pci firewire card, that will take care of it.

I have recently got a new PC. As my wi-fi signal is borderline, I kept my wifi adaptor (D-Link DWL 520) nd had it put in my new machine. I have a high gain (12db) external antenna in a 2 metre lead. An internal antenna would not be strong enough. It works fine, but, there is one slight problem. On my old machine (windows 98se), if I wanted to look up the signal strength, it came up as a bar that went 2 thirds of the way across the screen. Underneath, it would display the numeric value, in increments of 4. Moving the antenna maybe a couple of inches would make a big difference to signal. My peak signal, when the antenna is in optimum position is 62%. The problem that I am now having is that instead of the signal bar, I now have a TINY triangular icon (1-2 bars lit up), and no numeric value. This makes tweaks to the antenna position (where I may be a metre away from the screen) virtually impossible. How do I get the old signal bar back?

Hey there!
I have bought an Alienware 17 r3 in US while i was on a trip to san francisco. But now I'm back to my country ans here the the plug volts are 220V, and it was 120V in america. My adaptor is making 120V to 180V but since here ie s 220V my pc keeps warning me about this nd saying that the voltage might demage my battery and pc. I've looked to the dell store on internet ( since there s none in my countrt). But i couldnt find any adaptor to do this ( maybe i didnt sse i m not sure but i tried to find for like 2 hours)
What I'm asking is how i can fix this problem. And if i can i want to buy an original adaptor.
I tried to contact directly to Dell but there s no way but callling them. And i dont know how to explain while talking.
Please help me! Thanks ^^

A:Adaptor Problem

The system must have come with a non-OEM adapter -- every OEM Dell adapter is good for 120-240V and 60 or 50 Hz -- if it's non-OEM it may not meet those specs.  What you need is a Dell OEM  PA9E adapter.

Could you give a monitor model number? Is it one of the old tan dell monitors with a thick base that swivels every direction and a very wide bezel? If so, I have one of those, and there is a dvi port on it. It is hidden inside the casing of the rotating part of the base. You can just pull off the curved piece of plastic. Almost all LCD monitors have a dvi attachment.

@Yool? That will work fine. That is an OEM original. A little higher priced than the China knock-off. REO
