Do you have any of your driver CDs?

You could preform a system restore to yesterday to bring back any changes you made.

ok. i uninstalled soundmax from add/remove programs thinkin it was just another audio player i didnt need... sound doesnt work at all.. I HAVE A DELL 4600 PENTIUM 4... i went to device manager and under sound video and game controllers it says
-audio codecs
-legacy audio drivers
-legacy video capture devices
-media control devices
-unimodem half-duplex audio devices
-video codecs
and under other devices it has a question mark with an exclamation mark beside multimedia audio controller.. BUT THATS UNDER OTHER DEVICES.. i went to dell drivers and downloads and downloaded Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated Audio, right after it finished.. or i think finished something poped up with a big red x the title was soundMAX - Installshield Wizard and in the box it read, "windows audio service has been enabled! please restart your computer and run this installer again". i did, and the exact same thing poped up. So, i decided to download soundmax file version:4.0.100.1189. i ran that program or driver or whatever it was and a box poped up with a big red x once again.. it read "Driver not found! Reboot your system, and run this setup again." i restarted the computer and installed the program again but again it said the same thing, at this point im stuck and dont know what the h*ll to do.:dead:.

Tried to free up space and deleted "rarely" used items. Now I have no sound and don't know how to reinstall. Didn't have any restore dates either. Only 345mg free space. What is the windows os? I've tried 7, Vista, XP. All answers are incorrect. "No audio Device, & No active mixer Devices" system says.

A:Uninstalled SoundMax, now no sound

We need to know the brand and model of your computer or motherboard, and operating system.
When you run the defragmentation for Windows, how much free space shows at the end of that defragment update. You want at least 15% free space.
If you have the space, the first thing you need to do is download and install the drivers for your sound system on the motherboard or on a sound card...
Do you know what your sound system is? If so, you can download driver updates from the sound card manufacturer or the motherboard manufacturer, and then installing them is a simple "click on the download" and follow the instructions.

I had to install a new hard drive on my computer. Now, I can not get any sound. In trying to install the device driver from the Dell Resource CD, I get an error that says "an error occured while unzipping. One or more files were not successfully unzipped. The error code is 40." Then it asked me to restart my computer and try again. This happens when I get to the SoundMax Install Wizard screen. I have a Dell Dimension 4550 and am running on Windows XP. The Audio Driver is SoundMax: Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated Audio Driver. Any information would be helpful. Thanks in Advance

Go to Dell's website and their support section enter yur service tag number and go to the downloads section for your machine and download the drivers from there. they probably have an updated one there anyway.

It seems that my Windows 7 installation is getting worse by the day on my desktop (see specs linked to my account). It is just issue after issue it seems. Now my audio is not working on Windows 7, but on my Linux installation it is which leads me to think that a driver issue has arisen. Additionally, when I click on my SoundMAX icon, it just gives me an error saying No SoundMAX audio device detected. I do not have a dedicated sound card as my motherboard's integrated one does fine (until now, but still I think it is a software issue, not a hardware issue as it is working great with Ubuntu 10.04)

My Windows 7 Home Premium x64 installation is not a clean install. I used the upgrade option as I got Windows 7 Upgrade Option for free right before it came out when I bought my PC with the equivalent Vista. I've heard since that it was a mistake to do so and that a clean install is always better (is this true? ).

Also, another question. Would updating my BIOS (which is extremely easy with the P6T Deluxe V2 motherboard) help anything at all? I apologize if any of this post seems dumb. I'm kinda new to the extreme hardware. Sometime this month will be the 1 year mark for me upgrading from entry level (*cough* eMachines w3400 ) to enthusiast hardware.

A:SoundMax 3.0

Since no one has replied to your post, I'll suggest something. From your post, I detect that English is not your native language, so hope you can understand what I'm saying. SoundMax 3.0 is apparently quite old (2001). Updating it might solve your problem. There are LOTS of malicious sites offering downloads for SoundMax, but the best I found was at http://www.officialdrivers.net/soundmax-drivers.php. Try updating the SoundMax driver from this site and see if that solves the problem.

It's file size is blank and when I click "change/remove" it does nothing.

Thanks for the help.

A:How do I delete SoundMax?

Loho,

It sounds like it's actually gone, but the uninstall program failed to remove the entry from the ADD/Remove index.

Look through your folder lists with Windows Explorer and see if there is a Folder related to SoundMax. If you find it, delete it.

One of the "Power Toys" downloads...appropriate for your Op/Sys, will remove the entry from Add/Remove Programs for you.

Hi everybody.

I've tried several times solving this issue but nothing seems to work.

I own an Asus M2N32-Sli motherboard with SoundMax 7.1 integrated audio and I'm trying to get a 5.1 sound system work on this. Windows is able to recognize the audio card perfectly (I don't even have to install any drivers). Control Panel allows me to configure it just fine, even the test works great; all 6 speakers work in the test, but they do not work in any application (Windows Media Player, Power DVD, Winamp...), I only hear the front speakers, not the sorround or the SW/center ones.

I guess this is not a driver issue since they work perfectly in the test, but if anyone can give any suggestion, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks and regards!

A:SoundMAX 5.1 does not work

Of first off make sure that you are allowing other devices to allow exclusive control over the speakers...check the screenie...and also post some pics of your sound properties to see what is up

Hi,

I recently, well, it's been about a 6 months now since i've downloaded this Soundmax Driver. My original Legacy Driver somehow disappeared- probably from me screwing with the drivers- Anyway, i now have this Soundmax driver and i can't for the life of me get rid of it. I've tried just about everything. I have a older Dell PC (2001) using Windows XP Service pk 3. Did all the Maleware, antivirus, adware scans i could find and yes, that did rid me of some junk, but the Driver will not go away. When i go into remove it through the Control Panel it lets me do it, BUT, when i restart the PC, it re-installs itself.

I found this from 'SecurityStronghold.com' and it sounds like they have a grasp on the problem, except of course, they want to charge me for it. I was hoping not to pay the 39 clams that they want to charge. Please help if you can. Thank-you. Matt

From Security Stronghold:
soundmax virus intrusion method
soundmax virus copies its file(s) to your hard disk. Its typical file name is *.*. Then it creates new startup key with name soundmax virus and value *.*. You can also find it in your processes list with name *.* or soundmax virus.

I have Googled all over the place but no luck.

I have a paid-for Driver Boost app that had updated all the drivers since I installed Windows 7 but even that can't find one for the Soundmax.

Went to both the Asus and Soundmax sites but for the love of me can't find one.

Ran the Windows Compatability Wizard that said the audio drivers would be fine when I upgraded from Vista to Seven!

Have lost the plot here so any help appreciated.

Hi,
I have just installed W7 and it have gone quite well apart from the sound. I have no surround sound, only the front speakers are working. It works fine with XP though. Ive installed the same Software as I did with XP too. The motherboard is an ECS GS7610 Ultra With
6-Channel Audio
Onboard 6-channel audio CODEC supports uncompromising DVD audio quality, bringing a move vivid sound experience and high-quality 6-channel audio without having to buy advanced sound cards

? ADI AD1888 6-channel audio CODEC
? Compliant with AC'97 2.3 specification

Ive used the XP drivers and Soundmax software doing the following too
Remove previous sound drivers you have on your computer
Restart your computer after you are done installing
Go to your Windows Update settings and disable both automatic download and install
Navigate your browser to ECS website and search for your motherboard type to get the drivers
Download SoundMax drivers for Windows XP Once it is downloaded, unpack the file with your favorite ZIP uncompressor
Click on setup.exe but don?t run it
Right click on the setup.exe and go to Properties
Set it as Windows XP compatible
Run the setup.exe to install the sound drivers on your computer
Once it is done, restart your machine

Sorry for double post, but i write this in other thread too and it fit also there:
I think I have probably the same problem (chip AD1988 or 1888 I always don't remember). I have distort only in mp3 or some games/ movies. But i find some strange thing when I change in AIMP -> Equalizer -> REVERB to max: MP3 files are playing mostly ok! I installed/uninstalled all of available drivers: Microsoft when install Win 7(recognize Standart High Definition Audio?), Soundmax from ASUS site (mobo A5B - XP, VISTA 32), beta drivers to win 7 and always have that ****ty distort. Please check with Aimp re-verb maybe it is the same problem, and the solution isn't in drivers but in right codecs...

I'm afraid maybe my card is broken - but if there are other person maybe not

Of course i have Win 7 RC7100 (32 - bit).

I must also check the network on board card because - I don't have this problem from beginning - i think maybe when my network card where updated by windows update.. Do you use your on-board network card? (Card have 1 issue on this new drivers:/ it boot my computer when router connect to ISP(1 time per day) - even when I off option "This device can turn on your PC"(or something)) .

Windows 7 automatically detected it and installed some drivers, But of course this did not work

I've tried most soundmax audio solutions for windows 7 but it still does not work

Hi and welcome to sevenforums

You can also use vista drivers. You just need to install them in compatibilty mode. tell us what model you have and if you are 32bit or 64 and we will see if we cant find you one.

My Windows XP installation has a Soundmax audio driver. Having now the ability to dual boot my computer to Windows 7 I have since learned that there is little likelihood of Soundmax producing a driver compatible with Windows 7. Windows 7 Device Manager indicates under Sound Controller what it refers to as a High Definition Audio Device and that the drivers installed are working properly but still no sound. Attempts to update these drivers report that the drivers in question are up to date. There is no indication by yellow exclamation marks that anything isnot as it shoud be in Device Manager.
Any suggestions for restoring sound would be appreciated

I just bought a new Intel D865PERL motherboard and built my first computer. Not the first I've owned but the first I've built.
Intel D865PERL motherboard
Intel 2.4 800mhz CPU
(2) Crucial 512MB RAM
Klipsh 2.1 speakers

I'm having problems with my speakers. The right speaker has about 1% the volume as the left speaker. I went to Intel's web site and downloaded the latest driver. I have plugged my speakers into my old computer and they work fine so I know its not the speakers. I've checked voulme levels and everything indicates I should be getting equal volume. Device Manager is not indicating anything is wrong.

A:SoundMax & one speaker

I had the same problem with my SoundMax on Windows XP.
To solve this, I opened the SoundMax Control Panel from the start menu or control panel. I adjusted everything in there to suit my preferences. I also went through the Audio Wizard to make sure everything was detected.

In Preferences, I disabled the Audio ESP. For Listening Environment, I chose the speaker setup I use on my system. I also chose an Acoustic Environment and set the Virtual Ear to Adult. Click "test" so see how things sound.

To ensure that the audio works in all speakers, SMax4PNP must be enabled in the Startup in msconfig. (This might be all you need to do, but the other stuff is what I did first.)

Hopefully this will help you get the audio working.

Is now solution for Soundmax audio drivers for windows 7?

A:Soundmax drivers.

Post back, and fill out your system specs - motherboard for PC, or laptop's name are the most important , also your sound card's details in this case. The vista drivers work most of the time, and sometimes you can get an XP driver to work.

To resolve the OS mismatch if the drivers wont install normally do the following :

To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

After a few incorrect downloads and frustrated bad installations I've found the following driver:

If you try to install it by running AsusSetup.exe, you'll get an error message telling that your hardware is not connected or something like that.
But you still can install it by the old ways, directly on Device Manager, telling Windows where you have uncompressed it.

It rocks! See the screenshot below:

I tried to roll back the graphics driver, update the audio driver, reinstall these drivers and even do a system restore. None of this made any difference and I have no idea what the problem is. I've run in to problems installing Windows XP from a SysPrep image where it incorrectly identifies the CPU as a single processor where the CPU needed multi-processor support.

I'm only recommending this advice because it seems like you've installed Windows XP a few times and might not be too upset if these changes accidentally destroy Windows and you need to install again. But be warned, changing the HAL will mess up Windows XP and select the wrong layer and you will need to reformat and reinstall again.

Have a look at Microsoft's article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309283

What I have seen is that Windows Sysprep was told to install the CPU as a "ACPI Uniprocessor PC". Which, even though the computer was a single CPU, it oddly needed the "ACPI Multiprocessor PC" HAL in order to correctly install the audio driver.

What was weird was the fact that it installed all the audio driver features except the most important: "SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio" driver. And there wasn't any updates that I could do to make the driver work.

I also needed to install the Windows KB888111 before installing the audio driver.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111/

To switch the HAL, go in to Device Manager.
Change View from "Devices by type" to "Devices by connection"

At the top of the list will be your HAL definition. WRITE DOWN THIS NAME in case you need to go back or something goes terribly wrong.

I woke up today and my audio drivers decided to just randomly quit on me.

I'm not sure what my sound card is but my motherboard is an Asus Maximus Extreme so I'm assuming it's a SoundMAX AD1988B.

Basically what's going on is that I'm getting a message saying "The SoundMAX audio driver did not load. You may need to reinstall SondMAX". No problem I thought so I tried to do exactly that, went into programs and uninstalled SoundMAX. A file called "DevSetup.exe" was missing but luckily I found it in the drivers pack that came from the Asus website in one of the folders. I put it in C:\Windows (it said that it wasn't found there) and proceeded to uninstall. Worked fine and I rebooted my PC like I was asked to. To my surprise however, it turns back on and the same message saying the driver did not load pops up. So I tried to just install it straight away but halfway through the installation I get an error saying "Unable to compare versions. Aborting." and I'm forced to quit.

So I went on many threads online trying to find a solution but all of them were pretty straight forward and obvious like uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them. So I downloaded Driver Sweeper and tried to remove the drivers in safe mode. However there were no SoundMAX drivers in there but there were two audio drivers, one by Creative and one by Realtek. So I basically tried to remove them which seemed to be successful (I never used the ... Read more

I have an ASUS Rampage II Extreme, it came with a DVD that had SoundBlaster drivers on it, but they never worked -- this is when I first got my computer 3 years ago -- ASUS advised me to use the SoundMax drivers on their site that were for my soundcard. But herein lies the new problem, those drivers only work up to Windows 7. So, my question is this, where can I get working drivers, because as of right now sound is just running on the default Windows 8 drivers..?!

EDIT: I forgot to mention, the soundcard that came with the Rampage II Extreme was a SupremeFX X-Fi.

A:SoundMax Driver Needed...!

The SoundMax graphics controllers are from Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI). ADI doesn't make drivers available for direct download. You're supposed to get them from your motherboard manufacturer.

I believe that the "SupremeFX X-Fi" was a software emulation of a Creative Labs X-Fi soundcard. There was no Creative hardware present.

Assuming that you can't get the WIn7 drivers to install, you may have to contact Asus again.

My motherboard is ASUS M2NPV-VM and the onboard sound driver is SoundMAX (version: 5.10.1.6110 1/16/2007) The problem is that the sound skips whenever a FMV or a cinematic is playing in a computer game. So the video will play fine, but the audio will skip and be out of sync.

This only happens when there are FMVs or cinematics in a computer game. Some examples would be Emperor: Battle For Dune, Splinter Cell, Medieval II: Total war.

My specs:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ (2.3 GHz)

I recently connected a faulty HDD to my working PC and it trashed it. I have managed to get it to boot now and reinstalled the graphics but the Soundmax drivers will not reinstall.
I have tried downloading fresh drivers, and using the original motherboard driver disk, but I keep getting 'driver not found! reboot your system and run this setup again'.
I have tried this but it doesn't work, neither does the install hardware wizard and soundmax doesn't appear in device manager. I have tried system restore and also tried to install soundmax in safe mode - nothing works.

A:Soundmax driver not found

This computer was a dual boot XP and Vista and as the sound failed on both partitions I thought it was hardware related, but ..... formatted and reinstalled the XP and the Soundmax reinstalled from the MB driver CD with no problem. The Vista partition has now been reinstalled and this is OK now.
Has anyone any idea what happened here?

this message is comming for last two months, idon,t know what it is and how to solve it

A:no soundmax audio present

Usually helpful to include a lot more detail, such as:

When does it appear?

What was done just previous to it appearing?

Do you have sound at all?

Model of the HP laptop in question?
------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick look online gave me this:

Audio:

1. Install MS USS driver and reboot.

2. Install the soundmax audio driver and reboot.

Probably both found on HP.com under drivers for your specific model.

Someone recently gave me this computer. Works fine, but every now and then usually after restart, my sound stops working. When I click on the sound icon in the task bar it says I need to add new hardware. When I go to my device manager, it says my soundmax card is up to date and working properly. All I have to do is uninstall the driver, then add hardware again. But, it just gets old having to do that. Any idea why it keeps crashing or whatever the hell is happening?

A:Re-installing Soundmax Problem

You need to provide specs on a number of things for anyone to have clue where to start.

Click to download then run Everest Home. From top of Everest window:

Click File->Preferences
Check English
Then (still under Preferences) click Report and uncheck Include Debug Information
Close Preferences window

Click Reports->Report Wizard. Get a Custom Report report in plain text. Check these items
Computer
Motherboard
Sound

Attach the report file to a TechSpot post. When you create your TechSpot post, use the paper clip icon to attach the report. (If you don't see it among your icons, you need to click the TechSpot Go Advanced button towards bottom of window)
Report any Device Manager problem devices

Click Start->Run, enter: msinfo32. (It may take a short while till a new windows appears)
Expand Components (click + sign next to it)
Click Problem Devices. Anything appear?
If yes, click it, then Edit->Select All then Edit->Copy and then paste into your next post
Generate a DirectX report
click Start->Run, enter dxdiag
Notice progress in lower left window corner
When done, click Save Information button
In TechSpot, use the paper clip icon to attach the reports. (If you don't see icon you may need to first cick Advanced Reply)

Hello everyone.

I have re-installed a windows XP Pro on my generic chinese PC (so full of virus / spyware, that it could barely work).

The new win XP has been installed apart from the old one, they are now side by side and I can switch from one to another at startup (of course, my intention is to terminate the first windows XP once all software drivers are installed for the second one).

I now find myself without a soundcard driver. I never had the installation disc.
previously I was running on SOUNDMAX. But the installer i could find on the net didn't work.

When i go back to first win XP, i can find the drivers of the multimedia audio controller (in system 32), but transfering them in the new system 32 doesn't seem to do the job.

Any idea ?

Thanks in advance
Cedric

A:Soundcard driver Soundmax?

Download and run Everest Home (it is free):

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html

Once you download it, click on it and let it install and then run it from the icon on your desktop.

Click on the + sign beside 'Computer', then on 'Summary', then go to the VERY Top of the screen and click on 'report'.

Note: the 'Very Top' isn't one line down, it means what it says.

Cursor over 'quick report-summary' and then click on 'plain text' and then click on 'save to file' and change the 'save in' folder to 'Desktop' and then click 'Save'.

Clear all your open windows and on the Desktop click on that 'report.txt' icon - this will open it in a text editor
(probably Notepad) and then use your mouse to highlight ALL the 'debug' entries and delete them, then use your mouse to hilight all the remaining text then copy and paste it to here.

For future reference: once you open Everest, click on file, preferences, report and uncheck the 'include debug information in the report' box. People rarely want to see that stuff.

I hope someone can help me. I recently bought a Dell Optiplex GX280 computer (Windows XP) that has a SoundMAX sound card. I have logitech speaker system. When I plug them in to the back of my computer, only 3 of the speakers in my surround sound work. Only the middle "green" port on the back of my computer is producing sound. The outside blue and pink ports do not seem to work. I do not have a mixer icon for SoundMax to configure my speakers. Dell is telling me it is software related. I have updated drivers and deleted and reinstalled....no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get this to operate correctly? I am running out of options.

Thanks and peace to all!

Richard

You should check on the Dell forums about whether that model with onboard sound supports 5.1 sound or not.

Likely not.

Windows 10 (8/8.1) SoundMax Microphone Fix I did this on a TouchSmart 300-1060a but from experience I think this may be a near universal fix. I upgraded a family members HP PC to Windows 10 and found her microphone wasn't recognised. It seemed universal for all SoundMax cards on Windows 10.  The Windows 7 driver from HP (or otherwise) will not allow me to install it (even with normal work arounds.) Microsoft uses a generic driver and the microphone is no where to be found.  It may look intimidating split into so many steps but it will take about two minutes in total. Ideally you will want your specific PC/Laptop manufacturer's driver (Acer/Asus/Dell etc.) In this case it's HP. Step 1.) Download SoundMax Windows 7 Driver  64bit  http://whp-aus1.cold.extweb.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL30087/pv-74807-2/sp44371.exe  Step 2.) Download 7zip (Open Source) 0/52 detections on VirusTotal.com  VirusTotal.com Results http://www.7zip.org http://www.7-zip.org/a/7z920-x64.msi Step 3.) Install 7zip (Double click on it, click "Install") Step 4.) Right click on downloaded driver file and extract using. Does anybody have the Driver for SoundMAX AD1985?

My Speakers are 2.1 channel and I also use my system to connect to my Sony DAV DZ570 Home Theater System using S/PDIF via the green port of my System.

Hence it should be S/PDIF passthrough capable (which is possible from WIN XP)

Thanks in Advance

Ok, this is a weird one, here it goes, and pls don't call me dinosour for my music taste:
I've got a Asus p5b deluxe with a sound max ADI1998 integrated, ripped my CD collection using RipCD, MP and iTunes and all sound fine... but the Beatles, these crazy fabs make their song in such a way that the instruments play individually in each spearker, left speaker may have voice only while right speaker have guittar only. When I play beatles even from the CD drive using their original disc the right speaker doens't work. Reload my pc so many times, rip the CD with different programs, check bios, updated sound drivers, bla, bla, bla and the same problem: all the music sound fine in both speakers but the beatles, how is that possible? Has someboy had an issue like this before?

A:Beatles vs SoundMAX ADI1988

lol no maybe ur PC doesn't like the beatles. I can only assume there is an issue with the origional recording.

You could also try burning it in Mono instead of Stereo.

Hi everyone

I've been trying for a long time to install the drivers for the sound of my ASUS P5VD1-X, that uses the SoundMax AD1888 chipset with no success. I found many solutions for Windows Vista in the web, but no one worked for me. I'm using the build 6801 64 bit. BTW, the Asus site doesn't provides the drivers for Vista, only for XP, 32 or 64 bit. If anyone knows a hack to install XP drivers in the W7 64 bit I would be very glad to know.

Thanks in advance
Gabriel
