Toshiba Satellite a215 wireless switch won't enable

Q: Toshiba Satellite a215 wireless switch won't enable

Can somebody please help me. I upgraded my wireless card to an "Intel Wifi Link 5100" Wireless ABGN mini pci-e card. I was able to successfully get all of the drivers installed and hardware recognized. However, according to the Intel Proset Wireless Manager, it states that I need to turn on the physical hardware switch. The problem is...with the new card in place, switching the on/off button doesn't change the status or turn on the LED light.

I found in these forums that for the mini pci (not the mini pci-e) cards, you can actually cover up pins 11 and 13 to make it work. I can't seem to find any information on the pci-e card.

Additional information:Several people have suggested to install the model specific Wireless configuration utility that may be able to turn the hardware switch on. For the Toshiba, I installed Configfree, but it won't turn the switch or LED on.

All device drivers are installed and working properly. For this Toshiba model, there is no wireless enable/disable found in the BIOS either.

I'm hoping that there are certain pins that can be covered in the pci-e card to override the default hardware switch!!! Hopefully somebody out there will know.

Borrow a good book on Wireless networks... You are missing a few things on how such devices work, and a full understanding will help you a lot from here on out.

I have had my laptop for a couple of years. It has worked great until a couple of days ago. I have been running wireless internet on it. I used it one day just fine. The next day when I logged on, my printers are gone, my internet connection is gone. When I try to pull up or search for an internet connection, it says it can't be found. My desk top is also wireless and that one works just fine. I have run virus scans and they have come up with nothing. Please help.

So the laptop powers on and works ok but intermittently goes off.

Does it come back on if you reboot it or does it stay off.

Hi, I need help with my toshiba satellite a215-s4747. There is no power when I press the power button when I plug in a AC adapter. no any light on or blinking.
I disassembled it, remove ram, modem, hot-sink, fan, cpu. I plug in a AC power adapter to the motherboard and use a voltage meter to measure it. It has 19.8v,
so will be the motherboard problem? Thank you for help!

I bought my Toshiba Satellite A210/A215 laptop about 8 months ago. It suddenly started having problems recently. First, it would suddenly crash without warning, no matter what i did. Then after a while even touching it the wrong way would make it crash. I let it sit for a bit and now when I try to turn it on, the lights will indicate its on and plugged in, but there's nothing appearing on the screen. The fan used to come on but I don't hear it anymore so I figured I have to replace that. Any idea on what's exactly wrong and what needs fixed?

A:Toshiba laptop Satellite A215 won't start

I had a Satellite in for repair a few months back with the same symptoms and to be honest I did not have a clue what was causing it.
I decided to strip it down to basics and discovered it was the cd/dvd drive that was causing the problem, replaced it and all was good again.
I am not saying this is your problem but it is quite easy to test, the drive is held by two screws and then simply pulled out

A:Battery not charging on Toshiba Satellite A215

First you should check if the battery is correctly installed in the battery socket.
If it is, check if the cable is correctly plugged and that nothing is stuck in the cable port. Last, you could check if the cable is broken.

If none of these, i'm sorry, i can't help you.

ok...i hope i am even using the correct terminology here. i purchased this computer 36 days ago. 6 days passed the return policy, otherwise bestbuy would be eating this thing hard and fast through their teeth!

first. i noticed when i was looking at the screen that tells you what the MB and GB that there was a slight discrepency...and i know so little about computers there may be a perfectly reasonible explanation. anyway. the laptop says i have 182 GB, but i should have 200. is this a non-issue?

but the real problem is this. i will be emailing/searching/watching a video that i have downloaded/playing a get the point....and one of two things will happen.

#1--the screen just goes blank. the blue lights on the keyboard indicate the computer remains plugged into outlet, the on light is lit, but the ?processing? light is on...but nothing is happening. it is as if the computer is off. the fan will shut off, and no amount of button pushing changes things. the only way to get anything going again is to shut the computer off manually and then turn it back on. things act normal from there on for quite a while.

#2--this one is a little strange. all of the above takes place only i don't have a blank screen. i get a black screen with vertical grey stripes. it's very dizzying!

the whole thing is a bit on the perplexing side and like i said before....if only i had found the reciept prior to now and if only i had listened to my gut and taken it back ... Read more

A:Toshiba Satellite A215-S4747 Crashes

I am familiar with your computer. Based on what we see in our shop, I suspect the problem may be inadequate memory capacity.
I am sure you didn't mean to report the memory as 182 GB vs 200 GB as that would be an enormous amount.
I suggest you download and run the free Belarc Advisor or Everest Home. Either program will inventory your computer and tell you what working memory it finds.
Tell us what the inventory says.
If you have less than 512 MB, you simply do not have enough memory for that machine. If you have more than 1 GB, then memory is OK, and we must look elsewhere.
Even though your return privilege is up, you still have warranty rights.

But whatever the cause, I would use download AVG Free Antivirus and free antispyware. Then remove the free 90 day version of McAfee Security, using Add and Remove Software in the Control Panel. Once McAfee is removed, install the AVG software. It is free, and very good, and will not abuse resources the way your McAfee does.

Ok, I am fully aware of the black screen of death issue, which I have along with everyone else who didn't pay attention when buying this comp, but this morning I tried to turn it on and I get a blinking battery light, but nothing else. I took out the battery and tired with just the AC Adapter plugged in, no blinking light, nothing. With the adapter unplugged and the battery in, I still get the blinking light. So I figured it had to be the adapter. I went out and bought a new adapter, but no dice. Anyone else have this problem? Know any possible way to fix this or what's causing it?

Okay, First off I'd like to once again thank everyone who tried to help out on my last post.
I was unsuccessful at getting the HP to work...but to my surprise two days ago I received a small late birthday present! It's a brand new Toshiba Satellite A215 laptop. I think it's great and all, but the Vista OS is killing me! I've tried everything I can to speed it up, but no matter what i do my programs lag, the startups and shutdowns take TOO long...I've have done it all, registry defrags, disk defrags, cleanups, optimizations, set it up for best performance, the works...and still this Vista OS sucks...

I was wondering if and how I could ditch the vista OS, and downgrade back to XP on this laptop...

Any help with be greatly appreciated

I just upgraded to Windows 7 and when it first started up I noticed the colors are very dull, compared to my other two computers with 7. The display also seems a little big. I think my native resolution is 1280x1024. But when I go to change the resolution I am only presented with two options. 1024x768 and 800x600. I've looked everywhere on the internet and can't figure it out. Before I upgraded to 7 I was on Vista and I had ATi Catalyst Control Center. But after the switch I did not have that software and I tried to download and install it. Which I did, but there is no actual program to open up like I had before. I just have all of the files in the folders but nothing useful.

There you can see the folders I have in my ATi folder, probably doesn't help much. But there is no cli.exe, ccc.exe, and no MOM.exe. All of the ones I could think of from when I had Vista.

I don't necessarily need Catalyst CC...but I would love to change my resolution because it's kind of blurry and not sharp like I want it to be. Is it possible to just download a random driver or something to take the place of it?

I realize this is probably not a current / hot topic but I have spent hours on this and I am totally stumped. I have an older A215-S5818 Satellite Laptop that I upgraded to 4 gigs of ram, supposed to be able to support Win 7 with an upgrade from Vista or from a custom/raw Win 7 install.

Supposedly also supports 32 and 64bit. I have tried both 32 bit Ultimate and 64bit Ultimate - and although I was able to basically install and operate either on the laptop it seemed I was always running into Windows update issues.

So I thought I would attempt to follow Toshiba's instructions instead of just Installing from a retail CD.
I even upgraded the Bios to the latest 2.00 that is supposed to be the latest or last Bios supporting 32/64 bit Win 7.

After a basic install of either the 32 or 64 bit Win 7, I attempted to use both Toshibas utilities to Install Win 7 Software and Hardware support.
In every single case I get an error that states that my Toshiba Laptop "Was either not manufactured by Toshiba or the Rom does not support Windows 7" - Totally wierd!?

Anybody seen anything like this. And the Rom is specifically for Windows 7.

I even downgraded the Rom to version 1.90 that although not latest still supposedly supported Windows 7.
Still get the same error? Any ideas... how would a utility with hardware addressing calls not think it was a Toshiba computer and why would it think the Rom didn't support Windows 7 when they both were specifically for Window... Read more

Power Cycle everything . . Turn off the Modem, router and all pc's . . turn on the Modem and wait a few minutes for the lights to stabilize . . then turn on the router, then one pc at a time. See if you connect to the internet.

Remove all the stored wireless network profiles and search for the network again.

How to Remove Stored Wireless Network Profiles for XP, Vista, and Windows 7

Then: check your browser's settings, remove any proxy settings if found here's how.

with the pc connected to the router, Click on Start . . Run . . type CMD

At the > prompt type type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL and press enter.

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Come back here and Paste the results in a message.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB drive, or a CD-R disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

then please Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get an error about a missing function, download and install NET Framework.

My internet connection is sporadic AT BEST. I have a LyncSys wireless modem for which the internet works perfectly for every other computer in the house. I always get 4 out of 5 bars of reception quality for the wireless connection. When I open a new IE connection, it takes forever for the webpage to open. When I'm connected to the internet, then switch to a new site the thing churns and churns. Sometimes it never stops churning, then other times I get a message that says something that indicates internet connection lost. When I am connected, it runs excruciatingly slooow. I had a prof. computer technician look at it. He didn't see anything obviously wrong. No spyware, no malware, no viruses. I then took my laptop to Office Depot and they ran a series of diagnostics as well and gave me the same exact report. However, there's obviously "something" wrong. I am trying to fix my mom's computer. Apparently, she deleted some file a "Realtek\VISTA_8169" file
I think that is what triggered this problem to happen.
I tried to restore the computer to the time before this happened but the laptop said system failure error and said it could not complete the restoration.
Since the ethernet controller is a component I believe having to do with connection to the internet since the laptop is usually connected to a router wirelessly, the laptop just can't detect the wireless signal. Nothing is wrong with the internet connection since I am on my own laptop right now.
Its a driver software problem and I know I have to somehow reinstall it or something so I was wondering if someone could help.

I work on used/abused Toshiba laptops. On several occasions I have found the physical wireless switch wont operate - even after stripping to and examining the motherboard. In all these cases the internal wireless will not operate: the message "no networks in range" is shown.
I have asked Toshibe if there is a way to make the wireless work when the switch wont, but they are only interested in selling a new motherboard or laptop.
Does anyone know of a way to bypass the u/s switch and get wireless without an external PC or USB card?

My daughter laptops started shutting down automatically. Not a blue screen. It would power back up, but eventually it stopped powering up.
After doing some research I replaced the motherboard. It still will not power up. It will charge the battery and I have tried to power it up with just the battery and no luck. when you plug in the power cord the blue light on the front show it is plugged in and the battery is charging. The power light flashes for a second and then nothing.
Could it be the power switch board? would that have caused it shut down? I thought of the bios but it is a new board and if it will not power up I have no way to flash it.
Any help is appreciated.

So i had to replace someone else's laptop hard drive, and installed XP Home because the person had XP reinstall discs. Anyway, I'm lost about installing the drivers for it. I found a pack of drivers that were supposed to be for it, but i don't know how to install it. It can't access the internet either, so i'm reduced to downloading the drives on THIS computer and transferring them via thumb drive.I downloaded the pack here, and have NO clue on how to install it.I found another set of drivers, but i'm skeptical about it. I found that pack here. What should I do?

Are those ports close together? Possible short on the motherboard, or if you had a powerouttage/brownout, maybe it blew the ports?

Do the devices show in Device Manager as properly installing/working? (to get to Device Manager, Right click My Computer, click Manage. Select Device Manager along the left side. If there are any marked with yellow, they are probably missing drivers, possibly corrupt..

Hi all! My first post so go easy please

I've been 'tinkering' with computers and laptops for years but this one really has me stumped. I had brought to me a Toshiba Satellite (not pro) L550-19X. The guys explanation was he could only get internet by using the ethernet cable. I took a look and this seems to be the case. The drivers for networking show as Realtek family something or other, nothing showing anything for a wireless card. I checked that the wireless card was seated was. There is no F8 function showing in the flash cards when holding the FN key and the little wireless icon does not show in the system tray. Its running Windows 7 by the way. So, i installed a different wireless card and sure enough, the laptop detected it, installed it and Windows said it was 'ready to use'. F8 function showed in the flash cards and we had the wireless symbol in the system tray! Yey! I thought......but nope! The wireless icon has a red x through it, even after F8'ing. Wireless is enabled in BIOS and there are no issues showing in device manager. I have done a complete restore using the recovery disk supplied and there is no little switch on the front edge of the laptop, just an LED for the wireless. Sorry for the long post but I had to explain everything I had done so far. Any help on this would be very gratefully recieved.

Many thanks in advance.

My 94 year-old grandfather (YES 94) managed to delete his wireless internet settings on his Toshiba Satellite A55 laptop computer. I have been trying to walk him through getting it back up over the phone, but I am (or he is) missing something. I failed to mention I am in Ohio and he is in South Carolina so I cannot just stop on by to do this. He has Windows XP and I thought it would be just like on my Dell lap top, click on your wireless network icon and search for a local network. There is a wireless network that he is subscribed to in his nursing home but it is not detecting any networks. Any ideas as to what he may have deleted or what to look for to get him going again? Thanks in advance!

A:How to set up wireless internet on a Toshiba satellite A55?

First, is the wireless switched on? The switch is low on the front of a Toshiba and, I understand, easy to toggle accidentally. The LED indicating whether the wireless is switched on is red I've been told.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro that runs with Windows Vista. The wireless internet has stopped working, but it will work if I connect with an ethernet cable.

All of the wireless options are "on" (the switch at the front of the laptop, and the fn-f8 command for wireless). When I go into Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Map it tells me that "the adapter is not connected".

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I have tried deleting the wireless driver and restarting still nothing. I have tried starting it in Safe Mode and deleting the drivers but I received an error message saying those were needed for restarting.

I wonder if there isn't a problem with the router settings as seen in Lauren27 closed issue. I have a Qwest modem from CenturyLink and when I try to login to adjust the setting I get sent to a CenturyLink error page. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My Satellite M45-S331 has intermittent wireless connectivity problems. It simply stops working after awhile. It connects at first to my WEP enabled router (as do the other laptops) and then after awhile it fails. There is a system event error that reads:

Event 5005
"Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection : Has encountered an internal error and has failed."

Event 5031
"Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection :The adapter has detected an Adapter Check as a result of some unrecoverable hardware of software error. Please contact your service provider."

Event 5002
"PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection :Has determined that the adapter is not functioning properly."

The funny thing is that I tried to do a repair on the device and now it just doesn't run (shows up in device manager)

The machine is XP-Pro SP3, I had let Toshiba's wireless utility manage the connections but now I have switched back to windows WZC but the condition continues.

The driver version is:

Vendor: Intel version is dated 12/19/2007
I had used DriverAgent to upgrade drivers in the past. I just now chose the option to roll back the driver (Surprisingly it stayed at the same revision and version) and I can now connect but I have done this before and know it will eventually drop again with the same errors listed above.

I'm pretty technical but this one has me puzzled. I can't tell if it's a driver issue or a hardware issue. ... Read more

This is a driver or hardware issue it would seem.

I would STOP using DriverAgent and download the proper drivers directly from Toshiba for your model.

What ever hardware change you made on Feb 1, 2011 is the cause. All the crashes since then are identical. They are 124

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.

I have recently bought the Toshiba A215-S5818 and it came with vista home and although I would get decent video play on VISTA i was no impressed with overall performance and overall speed.

I downgraded to XP Pro and overall computer speed is up almost twice the speed as before however my video now is lagging horribly. My video drivers are installed fine, can my graphics card actually be designed to run better on vista?

Reason I am asking is because my old laptop which was a fujitsu notebook 4 yrs old by now p4 2.4 1 gig of ram and its overall performance video and computer speed was almost 10 times better then what I am receiving even when I had vista.

Is this normal or could there be something wrong with the laptop I bought.

What are the specs of the Toshiba? CPU, Memory and hard drive capacity.

I think I found your specs:

"AMD Turion 64 X2 Processor
ATI Radeon X1200 Graphics
2 Gigs of memory
160 gig HDD
Atheros Wireless"... These are plenty good to support Vista. I've installed Vista Home Premium on lesser laptops and they have all worked fast and stable

Hi~ I have a SAT E205-S1904 and it died a few months ago.I took it in to have it fixed and they said it was a software issue and fixed it.

Before I took it in my wireless switch worked fine. Now there is no light and it does not work the kid who fixed it said the hardware was fine and he could not figure out why it was not working. I have wireless internet in my house which makes this laptop completely useless to me. I have windows 7 on it.

What am I missing?

A:Satellite E205-S1904 - Wireless Switch not working (no light)

How should we know what are you missing?
I don?t understand how it stopped working suddenly.

Question is: what have you done with your machine?

I also think it is software related issue but on this virtual way it is not easy to say what is wrong there. Fact is that this function is controlled by software that runs in the background. Maybe you have stopped this somehow.

What you can do is to reinstall OS again and test functionality with ?factory settings? again.

I'm having some problems with my wireless card on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite M500). Basically, about every few minutes it gets connectivity issues. Kicks me off the internet, but the windows wireless connectivity program never catches on that I was kicked off. On top of that, I can circumvent the problem by holding my laptop up in such a way that the card (which is located basically below my left wrist) is up in the air. Of course this is far from ideal.

I would place more blame on the hotspots or wifi access points. The best thing to do, if you are getting intermittent connecting while using the laptop. Get a USB wifi adapter. The antenna on the Toshiba's, is on the upper Left hand corner of the lid. It is a piece of foil, that is aprox 2"x3".

In my street there are several wifi connected properties that use the same provider. Myself included.

My laptop has an issue whereby if it picks up too many of these signals (if they're in use when I'm online I presume), I can't get online (Connection says 'limited' in the Network sidebar).
If I un-select 'connect automatically' on the company specific signals, mine works again, briefly. As soon as I select another signal to un-select the previous one defaults to 'selected', and my signal generally goes again.

Main question then; how the heck to do I stop this laptop trying to automatically connect to the other signals? My connection is not a public one, nor are the others. I've looked for an option, but I really can't work out where it is!

Could my TV, which has a modem (like a TIVO) have an effect on it?

I'm using Windows 8, Google Chrome (shouldn't make a difference, but thought I'd mention it).
The signal for my property is down as the default.

Thanks for reading, hope you can help!

A:Issue with wireless signal on Toshiba Satellite C50-B-13N

I don't understand. Do you have a unique SSID (name of wireless network)? If you do, and have none of the others set for "connect automatically"there should be no attempt to connect to any other network.

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page (don't collapse the Radar, Connection or Signal History) of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. If you need help with a screen shot see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows Vista or latter I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

I have an older laptop running Windows 98 and would like to add a wireless (Belkin) card. The computer is a Toshiba Satellite 2595CDT, purchased in 1998 or 1999. Product specifications are located here in pdf format but I'm really not sure what to look for:

I have someone interested in buying this computer from me and I don't know how to answer their question. Help!

A:Toshiba Satellite 2595CDT and Wireless Card

The laptop accepts "PC Cards" of both 16 and 32 bit.

However, you are really looking at the wrong end, you need to find a wireless card that will work on Windows 98.

Note that there are differences in Windows 98 and Windows 98SE in this regard, many devices such as wireless cards need 98SE, but also some need later versions of Windows (2000 or better).

You need therefore to determine if anyone makes a wireless card for Windows 98 (the specifications do not refer to Windows 98SE). SE means Second Edition.

So the laptop will physically take a Wireless PC Card, but will the operating system (Windows 98) work with the specific "Belkin" card you mention?

While using the Internet the other day, and had the computer speakers muted, when I heard a very faint and slow-paced beeping sound.  I thought maybe it was a watch alarm buried under some laundry.  Suddenly, the volume and tempo of the beeping increased alarmingly until the computer was basically screaming.  The wireless connection was interrupted and connectivity did not automatically return.  After the wireless was interrupted, the beeping volume and pace again decreased and eventually stopped.  I turned the wireless adapter on and off a few times, and was able to reconnect after a few minutes.  This has happened three or four times.
Yesterday, the wireless bars did not appear in the system tray, but the computer with network cable icon with red X.  Strangely, I was able to connect to the Internet, but the icon did not change to the wireless bars.  Once I restarted, the problem went away.
I haven't done anything to diagnose or troubleshoot this problem.  I checked the vendor website for software updates, but everything is current.
Thanks for your time!

Hello to all!!

I've an old laptop, one toshiba satellite S300CDS 2.1GB, I don't use it since a lot of years, but now, I want to prepare it for my father who wants to start learning computing. The laptop is working fine with windows 98, but I would like to connect to internet. At home we have a wifi network, so I would like to connect it to this network. Could it be possible? Perhaps using some kind of pcmcia wireless card? and in this case, which model would work for this issue?

I'll appreciate very much your feedback and help about this issue.

I have been having some problems with my wireless connection on my Toshiba Satellite M645-S4050 running Windows 7 for quite some time. One of the symptoms of the problem I am having is that after my laptop goes to sleep and I bring it back up, 80% of the time no wireless network can be detected. I try to diagnose the connection and Windows can not find a solution to the problem. I then am forced to restart my computer and a lot of the time I must restart it more than once.

Another thing that I noticed was that when I am forced to shutdown/restart my computer after no wireless networks can be detect, my computer is unable to turn off and stays on "Shutting down.." screen indefinitely.

I have tried to update all of the wireless drivers to no avail, and I am getting desperate for a solution as I am a college student with no money for a whole new laptop. Thank you for your help.

If any other information is needed, please just let me know.

We purchased a Toshiba Satellite CM30-107 Laptop with integral wireless.

We connected to Wanadoo Broadband following their instructions which required loading their CD and plugging in their USB external modem for the intial setup.

Success connected to Broadband. You are then supposed to alter Laptop settings and configure 108.1x network wireless.

Have followed Toshiba's PC help, tried to configure using the same WEP key and 108.1x but cannot get it to connect to Broadband.

I have gone in to F8- it won't start in safe mode.  When I try to repair it says loading files then goes black.  I have tried to use the recovery disk and it does the same thing (loading files then the black screen).
I have started up pressing 0 and I get a HDD recovery mode and that is it.
I don't know if this is a virus that is stopping the progression or a hard drive or motherboard issue.

While I'm using my laptop, it periodically hangs when in use. I may be watching a youtube vid when my laptop will hang and I won't be able to do anything for a second or two. I've updated my graphics drivers and still have the same issue. What can I do?

Also, when I play an MP3 (with the correct audio codecs) using VLC player, the song will skip every five or ten seconds. I thought it was a bad MP3, so I tried it with several hundred other MP3's and I still have the same issue. What can I do?

I'd like to solve this issue without having to re-install the OS. I know that step is available, but I don't want to use it unless I really have to.

I've also run: CCleaner v3.08.1475, Defraggler (in safe mode), aVast Anti-Virus 6.0.1203, TuneUp Utilities 2010 v9.0.4100 (in Turbo Mode), Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Read more

I've completed a Windows 7 Professional 32bit upgrade (clean install) to my SatPro this week and almost all is fine. I've reinstalled all the Win7 drives listed from this site and my software without any obvious issues. I say almost as the Wireless Communications Switch on the front of the unit has stopped functioning.

Previously with the switch pushed to the left the internal card would be turned off, now it remains on. The light goes out! The wireless card is functioning OK and makes connection to both home and office wifi networks but I can not turn it off when connected using a cable connection.

Any thoughts on how to restore the switch function? I've looked for drives but can't identify any.

Once, I had such problem on my A500. I pressed Fn+F8 to disable wifi and pushed switch to the left, anyway just play with it. In my case, it helped me.

A:Wireless Internet connection for Toshiba Satellite Laptop

Look on the corner of the base of the laptop and make sure the wi-fi or wireless card in enabled. It might be switched off. .. Other then that go Start(windows flag bottom left)>Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network and Sharing Center>Under Tasks on the top left click Manage Network Connections. If the wireless Adpter is listed in there right click it and you should be able to see if it enabled or disabled. if it disabled, it might be a corupt driver. Maybe doing a system recovery if you check both of those things.

I have a Toshiba Satellite 113-S155 that is currently unable to do anything wireless. The internal wireless card that came with the computer is an Intel ProWireless 2200BG and I also have tried using a Belkin wireless USB adapter as well to connect, with no success. I updated the drivers on the Intel card, so I'm almost certain that's not the issue, and I've tried the Belkin on another computer with no problems.

I have a clean install of Windows XP Pro running on the system with nothing else present, but for some reason I cannot get it to find any semblance of a wireless network, even when I am sitting next to another computer that finds multiple ones to connect to. I've made sure the switch on the side is on, checked all of my settings and the like, but to no avail.

I'm pretty much at a loss right now as to what to do with this computer, as there is no logical explanation for why I cannot find a single network in my wireless settings. It's as if there is something internal inside the laptop preventing it from displaying anything wireless, and I have no idea what it could be.

Hopefully someone can help me out and give me a few options to try to fix this. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Cheers.

A:Toshiba Satellite 1135-S155 no wireless networks available

The built in wireless card might have failed but the USB should have worked. Typically when you install USB wireless adapters, you install the driver/software package first, reboot and then insert the adapter in the USB slot. If you install the adpater before this it might not work correctly. Did you follow this procedure?

Over the last few weeks my laptop computer has been having problems connecting to the wireless network I have installed at home. When the laptop starts up it will initially connect to the network however after anywhere between 30 secs and 20 minutes it will disconnect.

The network is still shown as available, however when I try to re connect to the network it will tell me that connection is not available taking me to a screen to check the wireless security settings. I have checked these settings several times and both the SSID and network key are correct. This fails to enable a connection either.

I have another laptop and a PS3 which are both connected to the network without any problems.

I have also connected the laptop directly into the router which enables the connection without any problem.

The computer runs using Windows Vista.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

A:Toshiba Satellite L300-11V TK-57 not connecting to the wireless network

Hi:Where is this pc relative to the working pcs ?
Same room,different floor etc ?
A few things you could try:
Move the laptop.Sometimes a few feet can make a big difference.
Change the wireless channel being used (1/6/11 in US).
Download/install from the Toshiba site the latest driver for that wireless adapter

What do you have to do to re-establish the connection ?

The first one being:

location:PCI bus 20, device 6, function 2

The second one:

Physical Device Object Name: \Device\NTPNP_PCI0026

If anyone can be of help that would be much appreciated
If I'm missing any information please let me know.

A:Toshiba A215-S7413 base system drivers missing

I have found that most of the time these base system devices to be missing card reader drivers. I would first try installing the Ricoh and or the SD drivers from here Model Content Page I selected Vista>then Flash reader to find them. I don't know if you are using the 32 or 64 bit version of Seven, but Toshiba only lists the Vista drivers. These are for 32 bit. Try installing them in compatibility mode. any help would be greatly apreciated as i haven't learned that yet as have take n A_ classes and my course of study is CIT

A:Toshiba satellite laptop doesn't have view wireless networks

Click Start.

Click Run.

In the Run box type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.

Click the + next to the pane Network Adapters so it expands, showing all installed hardware.

Take a screenshot of this window and attach the file in your next post.

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

If you have no internet connection on the problem PC, transferring the screenshot via flashdrive or CD to a working computer is possible. If this is not practical for you, a detailed listing of the requested information will suffice, along with reports of any ! ? or X's next to the entries.

I have a Toshiba Satellite p750 laptop and I recently sent it away for repairs as the hard drive crashed. It came back with a new hard drive installed but now the wireless capability is not recognised. I have switched on wifi with the F8 key but there is nothing. A previous post suggested "Control Panel, Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, right click Wireless adapter, click Enable." but when I expand on Network Adaptors the only subheading there is for "Realtek .... family controller."

Please help me as I don't know where to go from here.

A:toshiba satellite p750 wireless lan cant discover in device manager?

any devices showing with ? or !

theres a few P750 do you have the rest of the model number

would you so the following for all devices in device manager showing as ? or !

How to identify hardware in Device Manager

right click on the device with a yellow!

from the menu choose
Click on the Details Tab
Under the Property - drop down
Select hardware ids
Right click and select all
Then right click again and select copy
Copy and paste that information here

You should see a code similar to this

please reply with the full code for your device(s)

The portion of the code highlighted in RED is the Vendor ID and the portion highlighted in GREEN is the Device ID. In this example:

Vendor ID = 8086
Device ID = 008A

Post back those two numbers make sure we know which is vendor ID and which is device ID

These codes can be looked up at this site

As an example the link for that database tells us that;
Vendor ID code 8086 is for this vendor - Intel Corporation
Device ID code 008A is for this device - Intel Centrino Wireless-N1030

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 here, running on Windows Vista, and it will not see any wireless networks. The wireless adaptor is enabled and I have checked this several times to make sure. It will connect perfectly if connected with an ethernet cable in the RJ-45 port so this has slightly confused me. I'm sure there must be a simple fix. Also there seems to be no problems with the network drivers installed (No yellow exclaimation marks or anything). Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance

i have made several clean installs of windows 7 32 bit onto my a215-s7472 but the processor gives back a speed of 800Mhz, i installed the drivers as toshiba recommends (tsi4win7.exe) after that ... flash cards dont work (dont care) but speed gets stuck @ 800mhz....
bios 2.30 according to toshiba is the latest

i did a workaround, selected amdppm.sys instead of amk8.sys in device manager / processor... speed went up to 2.19 ghz but stays there, no more Cool n Quiet

kept working on the issue
i downgraded the bios to 2.00 (originally had 2.30) installed the preferred windows 7 driver (update driver) still gets stuck @ 800 mhz

im going to try with windows 7 64 bit ultimate, to see if it works (right now i have 32bit ultimate)

if anybody has an idea plz post it here :/

(downgraded with CD bios boot upgrade)
kept on working

win7 64 ultimate had the same issue..... went back to bios 2.30 and 32bit ...

current config:
Toshiba a215-s7472 bios 2.30
AMD Turion 64x2 TL-64 with amdppm.sys drivers temp @ load ~ 64Celcius

amdk8.sys from widnows 7 gets stuck @ 800mhz,
amdk8.sys from windows xp gets stuck @2.2Ghz and temp rises 20+celcius

i already cleaned/changed thermal paste on the cpu, cleaned vents ....

anybody knows a good workaround to get cool n quiet working with the full throttl... Read more

A:Toshiba a215-s7472 clean win7 32 bit install - cpu stuck @ 800Mhz

First try simply booting into your bios and setting everything back to defaults.

No overclocking, no messing around with memory settings. Put everything back to the factory settings.

I don't think this will suffice but this step is absolutely necessary.

ok. so my toshiba a215-s5824 will not turn on, no battery charge light or anything. took out battery to no effect. Does this mean its the motherboard? and how difficult would it be to replace? tech shop tested dc power and power adapter and they are fine. please help!

A:Toshiba a215-s5824 laptop motherboard issue. no power light

Your "tech shop" would be better in diagnosing a possible bad motherboard and its replacement options. It takes considerable skill and knowledge to replace a laptop motherboard. If things aren't done properly, you could end up with a very expensive paperweight

I have a Toshiba M45-S359 notebook laptop. About every 20-30 seconds, the wireless connection drops off (and immediately automatically reconnects). This is not a router issue because I tried 2 different routers (Linksys and Netgear) and also the wireless connection is perfectly stable on the other laptop I have. There are no interference issues. My phone operates at a very different (5.8 GHz) frequency. Also, the issue exists even when I have the laptop sitting very close to the router. Any suggestions/advice? Thanks in advance.

i recently reformatted my hard drive on my laptop but didnt think to backup the drivers, so basically, all of them were lost. i managed to restore all of them but the wireless network card/adapter. im not sure what cards were installed before, but im pretty sure it was a dell truemobile wireless card. i can still access the internet through an ethernet hookup. is there a way to download the network adapter/card? i havent been able to find one to install...or is there a way to find out what driver is needed when it isnt installed

A:wireless network card for a Toshiba Satellite 1405-S151 laptop

If this is the proprietary wireless that came with the Toshiba Satellite, that is easy to find online.
If it is a wireless card you installed, and therefore have, you can look at the numbers on the card, then do a google search with those model numbers to discover there the drivers can be located.
Be sure your old drivers are removed from the Devices list in Hardware in Control Panel.

Hey guys im back again...I just bought a brand new Satellite today at the local best buy and it had windows 8.1 installed...i opened the box, didnt even bother turning it on and began removing the hard drive so i can put in the solid state from my old satellite...also formatted and installed a clean copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. The first problem is i cannot connect to a network either on wireless or wired. I have checked the Toshiba website and downloaded a few different drivers but they arent installing...not real sure whats going on. I havent ran into a problem where it just wont install...maybe its a fluke, idk.

The biggest thing is that i cant seem to figure out the make/model of the card installed in this laptop. It seems as though Toshiba put 3 different cards in this model depending on which config you get. I used speccy to try and look it up...but since there are no drivers installed it doesnt know either, it sees it, but cannot tell me what it is.

The laptop model number is:
Satellite C55D-A5108

The laptop part number is:

Thanks as usual for any and all help. I will continue searching myself...i cant just sit idle...

Murd3d mate where did you get the OS from ie did you buy an OEM or retail version?

First of all this are the driver downloads Drivers & Software Support | Toshiba

Now there are three that I can see and we need to establish which card is in that machine.
To do that look at this

Using HW Info

You can test the volts on the PSU with HWInfo HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 -Download < download the right bit version andclose the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power sectionwhere you will see what the volts are doing see my pic.

The original right hand window shows themachine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use themain left hand side panel

Open each + down into the componentitself and then click on it - in theright hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds andother essential info that device. See pic for example.
Thsi I did up for volts on the PSU but in the pic you can open out in your case the Network + and see the wifi adaptors and see what is in the machine as we need to know the brand that the driver sis for.

Okay, I did something really stupid. It was late, I was in the dark, and I wasn't paying attention (obviously) so here's what happened...

I had a SanDisk 2GB Micro SD Memory Card that I was using in my cell phone.
I wanted to transfer some pics & photos from my computer to the phone, so I decided to stick it in the Express Card slot of my laptop. Simple enough, right?

....Well being the incredibly smart person that I am, I put the micro memory card in the adapter, but it was the wrong one. So my computer pretty much swallowed it whole. I can't get it back out.
Now I can't use the Express Card slot in my computer AT ALL, because the old one is still stuck in there. You can't really see it, but if you try to put another adapter in there, it won't "click". It won't go all the way because ... the old one I lost is still in there waiting to be rescued, haha.

So my question is: How do I get the memory card out of my computer??

I tried taking it apart, but I couldn't get the part of where the express card slot is, so that was no good. There's a way to do this, I know. I'm just not smart enough to figure it out on my own. Which is probably a good thing, because I might mess it up again, lol.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A215-S7416 laptop.
Any help is appreciated!

Perform the following steps:
-Remove the battery and Power adapter
-Press and hold the power button for 30-45 seconds (with battery and power still removed)
-Insert just the battery and attempt to boot the laptop.
-Insert just the power adapter and attempt to boot the laptop.

If still unsuccessful: Remember to remove battery and power before removing/installing components

-Remove the power and battery
-Remove the hard drive from the laptop and attempt to boot with the battery installed. Do you receive any error message?
-Remove the memory modules from the laptop
-Insert just the battery and attempt to start the laptop (you should receive beep error)
-Try inserting just one module of memory and test (swapping modules after each attempt)
-Remove the optical drive and test.
-Try disconnecting the CMOS battery for a few minutes then re-connect and try.
