HP Mini Network Drivers

Q: HP Mini Network Drivers

Hello computer comrades!

Once again I have ran into a problem that makes me want to bang my head against the wall over and over. My friend just bought an HP Mini off of someone he knew, and all of the network drivers are missing. My initial solution was to go to www.hp.com, input the model # and/or serial # and download the drivers straight from there. No problem right? Well, I cannot find the model # or serial # of this tiny notebook anywhere! I called HP and they told me that there should be a sticker on the back with both listed there, however, they are not.

I went to www.hp.com to just see if I can guess which model this is, but there are hundreds!

Is there any way I can find out the model # of this HP Mini without this sticker that should be on the bottom?

Thanks,

Charlie

Hello, I have a problem with an HP Mini 110 wich i have just reformarted with windows 7, the problems with the drivers where actually manifestating before, I thought that with the formating and the windows 7 instalation would be solved. In the hardware devices list i can see that the network controller, the video controller and the ethernet controller are missing, i tried to install the drivers given at the official website but none of them worked. Please help, i can't connect the computer to the internet! I think that wifi card or internet card, whatever name has, has no drivers installed or they just "dissapeared".

I did a windows 7 clean install on my HP Mini 210 4051 nr as part of creating a dual boot with Ubuntu. In Linux the internet works fine, but in Windows 7 it does not. In the device manager I see yellow flags over the ethernet and network controllers. Code 28 (My model does have an ethernet port).

Because the machine cannot connect, I downloaded all the related drivers (everything from the network tab) from the HP website for my model with another computer and then put them all in a folder on the Mini's desktop via USB. When I try to install the drivers through the device manager, and direct it to that folder, it says it finds nothing usable.

Here are the IDs

Ethernet Controller
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_338D103C&REV_05

Network Controller
PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_5390&SUBSYS_163610C&REV_00

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Instead of pointing device manager to those files, have you tried just running the .exe files you downloaded?

That worked for me when I did a clean install on my HP laptop.

I upgraded this little netbook to WIN 10 and it ran really poorly.  Finally gave up and went back to WIN 7. Apparently I need to update the drivers to get my wireless connection to be seen.  HP site only said No drivers available for this PC. HELP!! I don't know what to do or how to get my machine to work the way it used to!

A:311 Mini PC drivers not available on HP site

Hi: I think you should be able to use the W7 drivers and software from the 311-1100 series notebooks on yours. Looks like the 1100's have the same hardware as the 1000's. Do not use any of the BIOS or firmware files though. http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Mini-311-1100-PC-series/4074229

Will some of the drivers work with Windows 8? Card type is an Intel Atom, processor 1.6 ghz, 60 gb hdd, memory 1 gb (would like to upgrade to a 2 gb if there is a card that is compatible with this model HP Mini Netbook 1000). Currently has XP Home 32 bit and I can't get product key installed because characters rubbed off of Microsoft sticker. I know it's old but netbook can be used for pc computer games.

I have a HP Mini 1101 netbook which originally came with Windows XP Home. That OS suffered some hal.dll error, so I took the opportunity to upgrade it to Windows 7 Ultimate. I want(ed) to update the drivers but according to HP's support site for this netbook it only covers XP Home & Professional & Vista Business & Ultimate.
I was wondering if would be advisable (I personally don't think it is) to update using the Vista Ultimate drivers?

Thanks.

I bought an HP Mini 110-3015dx with Windows 7 starter pre-installed.  I have since swapped out the HD and loaded XP Pro onto the mini (by slipstreaming the SATA drivers -- what a pain).  Anyway -- I started looking for the drivers for the hardware, and the driver .exe that HP lists for the machine for the WLAN won't work.  I run the executable, restart, and nothing -- no new network adapter shows up.  I've tried mapping the driver directly to the extracted folder that's created in c:\SWSETUP, but there are no configuration files (only cabs and executables), so I cannot manually add the driver. Does anyone know the chipset and have a link to the drivers so I can manually map them to the unrecognized devices?  Or is there some other fix?  As much as I like Windows 7, I need XP on this machine. thanks,WLH

A:Mini 110-3015dx Wireless drivers for XP Pro not working

it does this same thing when you upgard to the full windows 7 - even though that is what HP recommends you do. Then HP will tell you to spend $60 for them to fix the problem - becasue this computer is not compatable with anything other than the windows 7 starter - its just a way for HP to make more money once you buy the product.

Hi Guys,

I've been trying to get this device to work for hours, and no matter what I do, I keep getting a messege saying the device driver software was not succesfully installed.

Under Bluetooh Peripheral Device, it says no drivers found.

Has anyone successfully installed the Belkin's Mini-BT dongle, and if so, can someone give me a step by step, how-to on how to do so?

On my iPhone, under Bluetooth, it says that I'm connected to the PC, but on the PC, it says that the BT device needs trouble shooting, and it won't allow me to transfer any files to the iPhone.

Really, the primary reason I got the BT dongle was so that I could use the iPhone's 3G service as an internet connection when I'm away from home.

I'd appreciate any help.

A:Belkin Mini-Bluetooth Drivers - F8T016

Have you been using the system-included drivers, or drivers from an installation disc/download? I'm thinking they're not compatible. Are you on 7 64-bit or 32-bit?

EDIT: I see they work on Vista 32-bit and 64-bit, which means they'll work with both versions of 7. Vista drivers should work with 7.

Due to hideous misfortune I had to do a clean install of my personal copy of Windows Vista and remove the stock Windows XP from my netbook.

Many drivers were added my Microsoft during Vista installation but I have no adapter drivers for either wireless or ethernet controllers. Under device manager I have no category for Network Adapters but instead those two controllers are listed under "Other Devices".

Under HP downloads I found the driver for Qualcomm Mobile Broadband Drivers - Gobi1000 when I went through the process of stating my product ID and OS (Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit). I downloaded it onto my pc, saved it to the flash drive I had to use earlier as a bootable drive to install Vista (knew the lack of native cd/dvd drive would eventually haunt me) and then moved the flash drive to the netbook to run install.

After running the setup a blank 'ms-dos' window popped up, stayed blank and then disappeared. There was no confirmation of success of failure in regards to installation of the driver. But under Device Manager they are still listed under other devices and I am unable to do anything with them.

I downloaded, transported and ran the setups for HP help and support as well as the Wireless Assistant. Both run fine on the Mini. The wireless assistant simply states that Windows has no controllers assigned to find connections to maintain.

I was curious as to whether or not there was something I was missing, the driver was the inco... Read more

Hi,

They work great, I basicly unplugged the lan cables *(disabled the nic card)* cuz I didnt need that any more and use the wifi as the default and only connection and share junk over that now. Well the ladys in the office tell me that peach tree will be very slow and unstable like it will just not work some times and they get error about the connection and stuff. The signal strenth is good and they are set to use infastruction and ad-hock too. *(I see no reason why there would be signal and speed issues)* BUT I want to put it back the way it was. Is there a way to make it so the lan card is used for just sharing files and printers and the wifi card for port 80 and the internet stuff?

I tried to plug both in at once but it always wants to use the LAN when opening up Internet Explorer... How do i assign jobs to each adaptor? *(after disabing the lan card it would use the wifi card)*

My partner and I have a small web-based business. All our records, etc are contained in Excel and Word files. We each have a laptop, and each of us has the data files on our laptop. Whenever one of us changes a file (and saves it to his hard drive), we then have to copy the changed file to the other's computer, so that he'll have the updated file. We also have a third laptop that we use as a 'spare'.

Obviously, there's an easier way, like what's done in most offices using a server and network. We were thinking that it should be relatively simple to set up the spare computer as a 'server', where all the files would be stored. Then each user would call up the file, work with it, and save the updated file back to the 'server', and to his own HDD. And we'd like to do this wireless (all the computers already have wireless cards). But neither of us is that tech-savvy to design such a network

Can someone please tell me what additional hardware and/or software we need, and what will be involved in the installation of this mini-network.

Thanks in advance to all who may respond.

Hi: According to the parts list for your notebook, it comes with an Atheros 9485GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and 3012 Bluetooth 4.0 combination adapter. You would need these wireless and bluetooth drivers for that model card. This package contains the drivers for the supported Atheros Wireless LAN Adapters in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system. File name: sp54972.exe This package contains the driver installation package for the Atheros Bluetooth in the supported notebook models and operating systems. File name: sp55714.exe Ethernet (wired) adapter driver: This package provides the Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver that enables the Realtek Network Interface Card (NIC) Chip in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. File name: sp55711.exe Make sure you have installed the Intel chipset installation utility first and restart the PC before installing any of the above drivers. This package contains the Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver for supported notebook models and operating systems. This utility enables the operating system to show the correct name for the installed Intel hardware in the Microsoft Windows Device Manager. File name: sp55706.exe

To get it to reconnect i have to restart but this dose not always work, disable the raido in settings, or unistall driver, or reinstall windows.

so this is what ive tried already

updated the drivers using the MIS Live update tool
Unchecked the box that says "allow computer to turn off device"
Deleted drivers and reinstalled
Deleted windows 7 and reinstalled fresh copy (works for a few days then starts to drop again)
Reinstalled windows 7 and only used the windows 7 driver Not updated it
bought aa new mini card but could not get motherboard to install drivers, i bough it 2nd hand off ebay and it came out of a dell mini notebook
put old card back in and is now working after fresh install for how long i dont know

From that and the other stuff you've tried and described I think that the card or motherboard is intermittently defective. If it's the motherboard there's nothing you can do. If it's the card you could replace it with the exact same model or one that you know is supposed to work in that model laptop.

My advice is to keep the USB adapter in your pocket or laptop case and use it when needed.

My first post, so hello to all.

My Compaq Armada 7800 laptop started freezing for between 2 to 5 secs every 10 secs yesterday. I suspected automatic updates which were done during the day and since the system was long overdue for a format, did just that. Formatted and did a clean install of Win XP Pro SP 2. Downloaded drivers for pcmcia (Mecer FE1000) nic from driverguide and installed, but as soon as the cable is connected, the system does its mini freezes again. As soon as cable is unplugged the system runs fine.
I checked on the task manager processes but cannot see what is hijacking the system.

I am at a loss, does anyone have any advice for me ?

Thanks

Update :
Finally tested pcmcia card on another laptop and it caused the same problem. Seems my pcmcia card is stuffed, I'll just have go looking for another one.

Thanks

I was given from a friend (who just moved over to the West coast) a Dell Latitude Pent III, (also XP) laptop w/Wifi card and a Linksys wiresell B broadband router( BEFW11S4-ver4) in return for some previous work I did for him. I went through the process of connecting cat5 cable from comp into router and connecting router into the dsl modem. I plugged in router; I got continous blinking power light. I was told to download firmware upgrade from Linksys, hold in reset button on router for 30sec and unplug router for at least 60 sec. After doing this I plugged cord back into router. ran tftp MFC application, put in server:192.168.1.1,admin for password and location of .bin file. When I clicked on upgrade I get "unable to get responses from server". I wish to use my home pc and also the laptop on this mini network if I can get it up and running. I had to plug my lan card cable directly back into the dsl modem just to access the internet again so that I could post for help. All help is appreciated since this is new to me. THANKS

Try with the router's encryption disabled. Assuming success you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect.

I have an HP Mini 1030nr notebook. I do not have any problems with the wireless connection. However, I cannot connect via cable and there is a problem with the local area connection. When I look at the folder of my connections, I do not see any cable connection shortcut. I checked the drivers, and there seems to be no driver for a cable connection. I have installed the drivers online, but it fails installing stating that there already exists another version of that driver. Once, only once yes, I have managed to see the local area connection on my notebook at home, but today I come to work and again there is nothing. What should I do right now, and more importantly why is this happening? Thank you.

I'm having the same problem as another user Baduga whose thread is copied below. I did download the driver version 5.60.48.31 for the Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN device which was released February 03, 2010. However, when I try to connect to a secured wireless network it seems to see the router, but just spins and spins with the message "acquiring network address" and it never actually connects.

Baduga, below, also had this problem once the drivers were updated. He reported the fix was by following the instructions on HP customer service page that flavallee linked earlier. It turns out my password was missing from the association page of the wireless network connection.

Can someone give that link again, and be explicit about what you have to do to get to the association page of the wireless network connection, and exactly which password needs to be entered there/

Ever since then when my computer boots up the task bar at the bottom of the screen is grey and plain (looks like a task bar from Windows XP maybe), it says that my "Audio service is not running", and I do not even have the bars that show my Wifi signal (I'm assuming that I am missing the driver now?).

I do not know if ComboFix is what did this or if I have another virus but I have become so frustrated with this that I figured I would ask for help.

I'm running a Gateway DX4860, Windows 7, and a wireless internet card.
If ANY other information is needed then I will be more than happy to give it.

I'm trying to set up wifi on an HP mini 210 with windows 7 starter installed. I'm sharing internet via an iMac with airport (connected via ethernet.) My iMac settings appear to be correct (I can connect my iPod Touch and Kindle no problem.)
When I try to connect the HP my network name appears in the list of available wifi sources and lists all the details (WEP, 802.11n, SSID) but when I click 'connect' it says 'Windows was unable to connect' without requesting a password (and troubleshooting finds no problems.)

I've tried different settings (changing my network name, password, and from 40-bit {5 digit password} to 128-bit {13 digit password}) with no success. I've tried manually adding the network to the HP through the Network and sharing centre with no luck either.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to Seven Forums,

Instead of using WEP which can be hacked easily, I would try changing your network security to WPA2.
Here's How: What AirPort security settings should I choose? | Mac Support Central

Now, see if you can connect your HP Mini, then configure the rest of your wireless devices as well to connect to a higher wireless security.

I have two printers connected to my Mac Mini. On my XP laptop, I've mapped to both printers exactly the same way: \\mac-mini-computer-name.log\printer name. I can print to one of these printers just fine (Canon ip4000), but I can't print to the other one (Canon MP190).

I know that the XP can "see" both printers, because when I'm mapping to them, the printer name automatically pre-fills after i type in the computer name\. File and printer sharing is enabled on both machines, as well as the exceptions tab in Firewall Settings.

I don't understand why I can print to one printer and not the other, when they're both set up/mapped using the exact same method.

Thanks in advance for any help!

The only odd thing I've noticed (and this might be the problem) is when I right-click on the MP190 printer on my XP laptop, and choose 'Sharing,' the box for 'Share this Printer' is checked. I don't think this should be checked since the printer is not physically connected to my laptop. However, I can't de-select this and choose 'Do Not Share this Printer,' because this is option is greyed out.
(When I right-click on the IP4000, 'Do Not Share this Printer' is selected.)

i'm upgrading the messy computer network at our clinic. here is a brief setup:
all Windows 7 32-bit ultimate and 2010 MAC mini as file sharing server
all computers have WIFI-n cards capability
FRONTDESK:
2 computers running critical scheduling SW.

at the moment they are connecting via WIFI, however, i would like to be able the setup X-cable link between them and utilize the network traffic for the scheduling application (shared database with R/W access by both computers)

The WIFI should be for occasional internet use and grabbing documents from the MAC server, most of the traffic will be local however.

Can i somehow configure the ethernet between these 2 desktops, 1Gbit speed and force the application to use that rather then the slower WIFI ?
THERAPISTS STATIONS:
4 laptops with WIFI

connecting to shared folders according to each therapist, storing all important documents remotely with R/W access.
Mostly MS WORD documents and some internet use.

* i still need to figure out how to configure MAC mine server with properly shared folders with correct permission as some have R/W access, some only R access
The main Q is Ethernet priority traffic over WIFI, if that's possible ?

i would like to reopen the pending issue:

small network with 8 stations running windows 7 PC ultimate 32-bit. all were fresh installed with BitDefender 2010 antivirus and MS office 2007. 4 brand new laptops + 3 new desktops + older P4 desktop on ethernet (the old one is visible as billing-pc)

most of them are via WIFI-n DLINK router, one via ethernet. on the network is also mac mini 2010 server running SMB for file sharing services. the server is not showing by default ether.

at some point i began to notice that not all computers are showing under the "network" in windows explorer.
i can easily ping all computers by IP or name without problems. i can always force open the computers shared files.

i can force browse any computer by: \\pc-name just fine

later on i've discovered that turning on the GUEST MODE mode in the SMB setting made all those problems disappear.

the full tread is described here:
http://forums.techguy.org/networking/944131-windows-7-problems-computers-not.html

few additions:
the 3 new desktops, do not show a log-in prompt window when connecting to a shared folder on the SMB server. i don't know why.
the 4 laptops require login every time and it's easy to track the permissions.

also, i see in the connection tab in the SMB a mysterious DENY_NONE user. that seems to be the one when the GUEST MODE is on.

Now, i would like to investigate with your help why the W7 computers are not showing in the windows explorer network browser. t... Read more

I am writing this on a Windows 7 based Samsung Netbook with an Intel Atom inside (and the Starter edition of Win7) However, I also recently acquired an Acer Laptop - (E1-530) which came with Windows 8.0...

After downloading and trying Win8.1 for a week or so, I decided to try Linux - can't even remember which version - Ubuntu I think, though neither went well, so let's gloss over that.

Anyway, I bought a copy of Windoze 7 32bit online for the Acer and installed that, but now my system tells me that I don't have a genuine version, and I've 5 missing drivers - and because I have no wi-fi, I can't download them directly...

Ethernet controller
Network Controller
PCI simple Controller
SM Bus Controller
USB Controller

And to make matters more complex, the Acer is a 64bit version...Oh... and I've already tried downloading them from Acer, and other System setup sites, with downloader s/w... But, they all seem to drive me nuts with ads, and viruses.

Answers on a post-card please... ;?)

A:Device Drivers for Laptop with no network drivers...

all of the relevant drivers can be downloaded from the acer website for your laptop.

you can gain access to the internet from the acer by plugging an ethernet cable in directly from your router/modem.

only download from trusted sources, and when it comes to drivers only download from the vendor. just go onto the acer website, click support or downloads. and fill out the form. making sure you choose win 7 64bit as well as the correct model of laptop.

From a Johnwill post

IP addresses of all zeros are normally caused by one of the following.

Diagnosis:
DHCP Service not running.
Firewall issue
Duplicate IP address on the network.
Bad NIC card drivers.
Defective NIC hardware.

Resolution:
Check Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. The DHCP Client service should be Started and its Startup Type should be Automatic.

Turn off ALL of the computers and other network connected devices, restart (power cycle) the router, then restart all the computers and other network devices.

Check for upgraded drivers and/or reload the Network drivers.

Replace the Network Interface Card.

I am trying to retrieve some old files off of an old computer. I would like to connect directly to this computer via ethernet cable, becasue I don't have a floppy drive on my current, nor do I have a burner in the old one.

So, someone once showed me how to connect 2 computers with an ethernet cable by changing the IP addresses,Gateway, & DNS of both computers. Essentially you "Trick" the computer into thinking it's on a network. I forgot how to do this. Can someone please help me out here? These files are critical.

Thanks

You need a crossover network-cable.
Make sure both PCs are in the same Workgroup.
Set 1 PC to e.g. IP 192.168.1.1 with subnet-mask 255.255.255.0
Set the Default Gateway also to 192.168.1.1
Set the other PC to e.g. IP 192.168.1.2 with subnet-mask 255.255.255.0
Set the Default Gateway also to 192.168.1.1, same as the other PC.
Make sure file-sharing has been activated on both PCs.

Hi guys,

Recently, during a full virus scan, my computer experienced an abrupt shutdown. Upon restarting, the boot-up screen was filled with binary and yellow dots. I'm guessing this was a display driver issue? Anyway, I couldn't get past the welcome screen, nor could I reformat. The computer would just shut down half way through. I removed the GFX card and RAM, gave them a clean and put them back in. This rectified the issue; I was able to reformat and everything is running smoothly.
Except, since the reformat, I haven't been able to connect to the internet. My network adapter, Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller, is running the latest drivers; however, under Other Devices, my Network Controller is not recognised and requires new drivers (Code 28).
So I have 2 questions, which drivers do I need to download and will this rectify the issue?
I have blue lines running down the screen and my GFX card is not recognised under Device Manager, but this issue is secondary at the moment.

My system specs are:

Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz, System Model: Gigabyte P35-DS3L, OS: Vista 32-bit.

If this is in the wrong section, please feel free to move it.
Thanks for your time

Yes we can.
You say "network drivers", so I am going to check and see if you have the networking components installed correctly.
So go to the control panel>system>hardware tab>device manager.
Then find the section that says "network adapters"
Then double click on the ones that are there. Then go to the driver tab and click update drivers.
See if that helps.
If there is nothing there then I will try to find you drivers for the computer. Did it come with Windows Xp?

Hi,

I recently reinstalled Windows XP home edition on my Dell dimension 5000, and I am unable to connect to the internet. I have a ethernet cable connected to it which used to the trick, although not anymore. Following XP's guidelines I'm still unable to connect to the internet. I've reached the conclusion that it's missing it's Network drivers. I read in another thread to go to Dell's homepages and search for the drivers there, though it only sais "No downloads are available for the [ V486/__S Rev 2 FS ]."
As I bought the computer in like 2005 I no longer have the CDs with the drivers. And because I don't have internet I can't download any of the 'Search and download Drivers'-programs.

Does anyone know if and where I can download the driver(s) I need?
Thanks in advanced.

My girlfriend has just moved in, and lo and behold, finally has access to a wired connection. (Prior to this, she has been using a little wireless USB network dongle to connect)

Anyway, we installed windows 7 on her computer about 5 months ago, and everything was working dandy. Until she tried plugging directly into the router. She can still connect using the USB dongle, however that is slow. We tried uninstalling the network driver, and restarting windows to allow it to find the driver itself, but it looks for the driver BEFORE it connects via USB, therefore it fails to download a driver.

We've tried going to the HP website and looking for a driver there, but it doesn't exist.

Any thoughts on how we can get her onboard network card to start working?

She is on an HP Media Center PC m1050e. It's the PU061AV. The entire computer is the "kit" computer except for the RAM which we upgraded.

Anyway, any help you could offer would be fantastic! I've never really had driver issues with Windows7, and so as of now, I'm kinda at a loss!

Thanks!

i just installed a windows xp professional services pack 2 on a clone pc and now finding it difficult to install network drivers. how can i know the manufacturer in order to download the appropriate drivers or is there a universal drivers for all pcs?

A:network drivers

Open Device Manager and double-click on the unknown network adapter to open Properties for it, then click the Details tab. Choose Hardware Ids in the Property drop down menu. You should see a text string in the box below, similar to PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_75491462&REV_02.

This string gives information about the vendor (10EC in the example) and device (8186 in the example) for the network adapter. Then go to http://www.pcidatabase.com and search for the vendor and device. Finally, go to the vendor's website and locate the appropriate driver.

I should mention the information on that site isn't always 100% accurate, but is for the most part.

Hi, Am having trouble loading the ethernet driver for 1150 Dell laptop. I do not know why it disappeared but it seems that somehow it went away along with the wireless driver. So now I have 2 big yellow question marks next to ethernet controller and network controller in Device Manager. I found the drivers in the Dell folder, but for some reason the wizard is directing me to the net. I also went to the Dell support website and burned the driver to a cd and it would not take it that way either. Does anyone know a way to load the driver without using the wizard? I have directed the wizard straight to it to no avail. I can't access the net on the laptop with the driver missing and I do not have an OS boot disc or I would just reload it that way. All answers appreciated!

i just rebuilt a pc from scratch and im missing some drivers. i believe they are nvidia drivers but i dont know which ones they are the only info i got is from device manager which is below. i can not get onto the net until some of these drivers are installed. the computer will not recognize the lan connection

pci simple communication controller
multimedia audia controller
other pci bridge device
sm bus controller
video controler

attached is a print of unknown device identifier

A:Need help getting the network drivers

Before trying to find drivers based on Device IDs, it's best to try and find the drivers based on your motherboards (which has the onboard chips needing drivers you post)

Can you identify your motherboard?? If you can't identify it just by inspection, you can run Everest Home to identify it (you'll need to install it via removable media)

To then find your Driver files
Click for the driver page listed by System Vendor Find your System Vendor, click for their driver support site. Enter your model number, then download your drivers as needed

Let us know if you still need further help

A:I need help with network drivers

You had DSL, now what do you have as your Internet service? What kind of modem are you now using? Cable? If so, you should be able to connect it to your computer just like you did with your old DSL. The modem should automatically configure itself after a reset

This is an interesting one. I would access the BIOS and check that the Ethernet (Integrated) is enabled. Switch computer on and press the Del, F1, F10, F12 or tab, to access the bios. One of them should give you access. I know you have purchased another one and that isn't working either. Can you tell me what make and model you have running? The Motherboard you have running if you can check.

Also put a screen shot of deice management.

Hi Guys

I have a problem that is driving me nuts. I upgraded to Win 7 a few weeks ago and since then my wireless connection hasn't worked properly. I have an Alienware M17x (I have installed all the new drivers for Win 7) including updaded chipsets etc. My Wireless network adapter is a Broadcom 802.11n using BCMWL664.sys and vwifibus.sys drivers, connecting to a Belkin F5D7230. The only way I can get it to work is by uninstalling the network adapter, re-booting the computer, letting the computer re-install the drivers, then manually re-entering the PSK security key for access thru the router then I can get onto the internet I tried the tech guys at Alienware who said it was a "software" problem and I would have to pay for assistance (i've only had the computer a few weeks) Anyway, there were no help at all. Hi and Welcome

Are you by chance using homegroup for networking?

Next time that happens and before you reboot can you type cmd in search. then ipconfig /flushdns, then ipconfig /renew. See if that cures the problem. If yes its a simple dns problem. If no

type ipconfig /all and using the built in snipping tool (type snipping tool in search) make a screen shot of the output. Use the attachment icon (shaped like a paperclip) to attach the screenshot for upload.

Let us know the results

This is my network card: Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller.
I am using a networkcable. Do I have to back-up my drivers for that networkcard to able to go out on the internet? If you say yes, please give me a link.
I hope you understand what I mean cuz I don't want to stand there with no internet once I've installed W7 Ultimate. THANKS.

Is this from a virus? Are there any drivers I could install?

Welcome to the Windows 7 support forums Duck,
what was the malware?
It seems you lost almost all your nic drivers.
Can you fill out your system specs on your profile page please.
Also if you know what your motherboard model is, update your chipset drivers.

I can't load load my network drivers for the life of me!!! I've tried everything except a reformat!

Here's the problem. It all started out with Zone Alarm. I tried upgrading it without doing a clean install (big freaking mistake). It took my networking controllers with it that time and my Internet wouldn't work, so I did a system restore point back to the point where my network drivers were working fine and it worked. BUT HERE IS WHERE IT ALL WENT WRONG! I wanted to upgrade my OS and install windows service pack 1 for Vista on it, so I uninstalled Zone Alarm because it wasn't working properly and then I was going to install Zone Alarm again after I installed service pack 1. WELL THAT JUST MESSED EVERYTHING UP! When I uninstalled Zone Alarm it took my network drivers with it and when I tried to install service pack1 it erased all my system restore points. I GOT SCREWED! Not only would service pack 1 not install because of the problem, I couldn't get back my network drivers because I had no good restore points.

I've tried everything from downloading the drivers from and different computer and transferring them onto my computer to doing a full upgrade reinstall!!! I've been working on this for days.

The easy answer to this solution is a full reformat. -But listen folks... I have so many programs and so much data on my pc that I don't want to reformat my drive. I plan on getting a back-up hard drive and load windows onto that, but I just want to see if any of you geniuse... Read more

Now, I have just decided to go 64bit, and all is installed driver wise aside from this card.

So, I have just downloaded a 3c90x1.exe package, (the site I have it from suggests it is 64bit compatible), but when I try to run the exe i get an error suggesting that it is not compatible with the version I am running.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on this please. or a location for a verified working 64bit driver?

Build is 7229.

TIA!

Compatible with the version of windows (windows 7) or compatible with this version 64 bit.. Try installing it in xp compatibilty mode. If no joy then get 64 bit version. If no 64 win 7 try 64 bit vista driver.

I need someone to help me with a problem on my sister's computer.

She just installed XP after taking off Vista, and now she needs the drivers to get her internet working. She's using a LAN connection, and I know the number 1394 is somehow involved (clearly I have had a ton of experience with network cards and such).

These are her specs:
http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/e...3158-12133158-12133158-80626463-81048856.html

A:Network card drivers

Put 1394 out of your mind for now, that's part of the firewire spec., not LAN.

The HP website says there's a NVIDIA nFORCE networking controller for the HP Pavilion a6230n Desktop PC and that is what you have to find an XP driver for. Google search came up with the following site for driver download, http://www.soft32.com/download_183257.html

Hello. I am at a university and I am trying to hook up a computer to the lan. I have done this before successfully several times, but this computer will not connect. I am going through the Internet Connection Wizard, and choosing Lan, etc... It tries to detect the proxy settings, then just gives the "Server not found error."

Should I try re-formatting the drive? (It has Win 98 by the way). Where would be a good place to find drivers for my specific NIC? I don't know much about NICs, but it says "Yes Netware" on it. Is that part of Novell? It also says YCL on it. How do I know what exact model it is?

Just a side note, I have tried several network cables. I know the cable works, and the port is definitely active. Also, when I plug in the cable, the lights on the NIC do light up.

Thanks so much for any help.

I have an IBM Thinkpad laptop that I am trying to fix for a friend (This is the second time) I reinstalled Windows professional XP over itself and lost all the drivers that seem to connect it to the internet. The wireless modem driver is there but all others have the yellow question marks. Obviously I searched the computer itself for the drivers, and since this was a handme down there are no original disks with it. When I go to the IBM website I can't find the drivers. A search of the internet has so far come up empty also. I keep getting full downloads or usenet where I have to pay for them. The main one listed is BCM2045B after that they are biometric controller and ethernet conrollers listed just as that (no names) Does anyone know where I can download the driver for free?? I appreciate any help. Thank you in advance

Can someone educate me on how network printers work in Windows? Is there only one way of setting these up, or several ways?
Do I have to have a driver for the specific printer on the client? Why can't the material be sent to the server in some device independent format (Postscript??), and converted to printer commands on the server?
Do I have to have a driver for the specific printer on the server? If the driver is on the client, presumably it's talking directly to the printer (using the server only as a means of communication) using the printer's own command codes, so I don't see why the server needs a driver...
Under what circumstances can or can't the client download the driver from the server?
What happens if the client and server are running different versions of Windows, either an older version on the client, or an older version on the server?
What happens if the client is running 64-bit and the server 32-bit, or vice versa?
What happens if there is no driver available for the newer version of Windows (which might be the client, or the server), because the printer is quite old?
Many thanks - Rowan
