Communication problems between Dell 926 printer and Dell Inspiron 1520 computer

Q: Communication problems between Dell 926 printer and Dell Inspiron 1520 computer

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with Windows Vista OS. I have a Dell 926 printer interfaced to it via USB. Printer driver is installed and the printer does communicate at times with the computer and does a good job printing. However, intermittently when trying to print a document I'll get a message on the computer that says that communication has been lost and print job failed.

I've checked all connections to make sure they are solid and no debris that might cause this.
That has not corrected the problem.
The other thing that happens is that the document I want to print will stay in the print queue/spooler and if I shut the computer and printer down and restart both it will print the job. And it may continue to print jobs but it's just a matter of time.

Needless to say this is frustrating. I can print several jobs in a row with no problem and then I'll get this "communication has been lost between printer and computer". And I have to go thru the procedure above to get the last job printed.

My wife doesn't understand how this works and will try to print the same job several times with the commo problem and then complains when it won't print.....and then they all print when the above procedure is followed.

Any ideas what is going on??? Any fixes??

Hello everyone I have a very pressing problem. I had Vista running on my Inspiron 1520 Laptop. I recently upgraded to Windows 7, ever since then I have had terrible trouble with my Wireless Card. The driver for the card often comes up as not being able to start I often get Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card can not start Code 10. I have read that this was a problem when reinstalling a OS or installing a new one with this card. I believe I may need a driver for the chip set or something similar. I also understand that I may have to swap back to Vista though I really do hope I don't. I do believe that a recent update from Dell has made this problem chronic as I did not have this problem when I immediately got the laptop back.

I really am hoping that I can get some help here as Dell is not bothered to help as I am out of warranty and they don't seem to care about this older model laptop.

Thanks again for all your help

Conor,

Welcome to SF, Conor. Dia dhuit.

Dell does not have a Windows 7 driver for your card. You can try installing the driver in compatibility mode.

Hello,

About 2 days ago my dell laptop got infected by anti-malware doctor and was basically usage. After quite a while I managed to get rid of most of the infected files and therefore decided to re-install vista so my system was not infected. When I booted from disk my laptop did not read it then restarted and loaded up vista again (the disk does work as I tried it on another laptop). To make sure my disk drive wasn't broke I then put in a Linux Ubuntu disk which loaded fine, as my vista was broke I installed Ubuntu onto my laptop and selected use entire disk to wipe any infected files.

Ubuntu worked fine but I don't like it so I put the content of the vista disk on a USB stick to try and re-install it. When I selected boo from USB I got an error message with code 0xc0000225 (I tried the USB in another laptop which also worked fine). I then deleted Ubuntu and tried installing vista again which again did not work, I finally tried putting Ubuntu back on so that I could actually use my laptop but during installation it comes up saying 'There may be a problem with your disk drive or HDD please try again'.

I can still run Ubuntu with the disk in put only as a trail and no files are saved.

I have searched error code: 0xc0000225 and it is a hard drive failure, on forums I have seen people have said they will have to buy a new hard drive.

First of all is there any way to solve this problem without buying a new HDD?

Would a new HDD fix this problem (more specif... Read more

I got a laptop in my shop that has fallen victim to yet another spillage incident, this time it happens to be red wine (insert facepalm smiley here). The owner claimed to have spilled the beverage into the keyboard area. The computer supposedly worked after sitting for a day or so, which isn't really enough time imho, and now it won't power up at all--battery or aux power.

I took the laptop apart, right down to the motherboard and tested a few components. The RAM, HDD, optical drive and battery are all fine, but there was some sticky wine residue on some of the internals. I couldn't see and physical damage to the circuits but my guess is that it must have shorted out somewhere. I checked all of the connections for the power button and screen but i couldn't find any problems. None of the LEDs seem to work at all even when the computer is plugged in. The fan does not spin, and I hear no beeps or the usual boot sounds. It appears as if the machine is dead, but I was looking for some quick advice before I return it as such. Any ideas?

A:No power on Dell Inspiron 1520

Wash it upside down with distilled water only... and use a lot of it, then dry it upside down for seven days without the use of fans as they generate static electricity which is the real evil.

The drying wine sugar can act as a conductor.

my dell inspiron 1520 (vista) must have contracted some virus and it DOES NOT boot up. at all.

I scoured my room at home and school to locate the recovery disk and have found nothing. now I've been reading everything from "the inspiron 1520 doesn't come with recovery disks" to "it does, and if you do not have them try this link http://support.euro.dell.com/support/top?

THAT SITE'S ADVICE DOES NOT WORK because after I press F8, and enter on repair your computer, the screen goes blank and nothing happens.

is there any way to fix my computer? (NOTE ASIDE FROM DIRECTING ME TO THE WEBSITE ABOVE) I don't even care about losing files as there is nothing on my laptop I have not backed up already.

my computer is still also under warranty, and I've heard that if it wouldn't boot up with the recovery disk they would replace it. but again... I do not have the recovery disk. thanks for any help!

What could be the problem?

I contacted Dell, but the computer is out of warranty. They told me that could be the bios, but how knows

I am running XP - OS. For the last few days I cannot get my computer to 'shut down' at the end of the day, so I have been letting it 'hibernate'. Any ideas? Thanx.

A:Dell inspiron 1520 will not 'shut down'

Hello tedth56th,

Have you made any software or hardware changes lately?

First thing i would do is give your computer a Full Scan using malwarebytes, that can be found here:Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - CNET Download.com, Just so we can be sure its not a virus of any kind.

Secondly you will need access to your XP Installation disk, We will check to make sure none of your system files are damaged.

Go to your task bar and select "Run". type in that box "SFC /SCANNOW" You will be required to insert your Windows XP disk if it find any damaged files.

I have the PBDS dual layer dvd drive on my dell inspiron 1520 which I got from my phone company back in 2007, The system still works great even with windows 10, but the dvd drive no longer shows in the bios and is no longer detected.   I have to use a unbent paperclip to open the drive but it will not spin up....how do I get it to be discovered in bios?   I am also wondering about upgrades for this laptop besides a new hard drive, or power adapter or battery.  Is there anything available to be able to use bluetooth on this system.   it works better than an acer laptop I got when I went to school.  and any ideas on renewing the letters and numbers on the keyboard

A:dvd drive on Dell Inspiron 1520

Hi,
Thank you for writing to the Dell Community Forum.
I would recommend you to reseat the Optical Drive as it could be a connection issue. Please follow the instructions from page 54 of the service manual from the link below to reseat the optical drive:
http://dell.to/1UlUNzo
In case if the optical drive is still not detected, it could be faulty and needs to be replaced based on the system warranty.
Unfortunately, there aren't much upgrade options available for this model apart from the one's already mentioned by you.
The easiest way to get the bluetooth functionality on this system is to use a third party USB Bluetooth Adapter. I would recommend to check the system requirements to confirm the compatibility with your system.
The letters on the keyboard usually fade away over a period of time with usage/wear & tear. Unfortunately, wear and tear issues are not covered under the warranty. The recommended action in this case would be to order and install a new keyboard.

You didn't say if your Dell Inspiron 1520 is running Windows XP or Windows Vista or Windows 7.

All 3 operating systems have a Mouse entry in the Control Panel.

The mouse properties window should have a setting for disabling the touchpad.

Having some issues with my Inspiron 1520... I had hooked it up to an external display via the S-Video output, went through the normal routine except this time the display did not show up on the TV. I had to restart the computer using the power button, but when it restarted the screen no longer shows up, just get a blank black screen. The Power and Numlock displays are lit up and I've tried connecting to the TV again as well as to a exernal monitor to no avail.

I've had a lot of problems with the video card prior to this and I've had it replaced once and unfortunately my warranty is expired. Just trying to figure out if this is a hardware issue or a problem with the external options. Any help is appreciated.

Let's see.2008 Dell Inspiron 1520. Running Win XP SP3... IE 7.No issues with computer since purchase. Don't run peer to peer...Last week decided to install Avira AntiVir - had been running Avast! and it was driving us nuts with its pop-ups in the taskbar. Thursday night 2/25 set AntiVir to run a full scan of the drives, left it running, went to bed. Woke up to BSOD with something about the Kernel and a Page Fault ... looked like something had tried to load on top of something else. I knew was bad. I ran CHKDSK /R - took it almost 8 hours the first time, find many bad clusters/files/etc, said it fixed them, ran it twice more until it came back clean. My desktop failed at the same time (it caught a virus). Spent the entire weekend pulling doc files off to an external HD on both computers, burned them both down & rebuilt with factory restore disks... made sure to format drives. Desktop now seems to be running fine.Oh, bought AVG Internet Security & loaded on both computers during the rebuild, scans come back clean.Since laptop rebuild, have twice gotten a BSOD for a lot of binary, but it also says STOP dxec02.sys.I've done a little reading & this is an audio driver of some nature, but I've gone beyond my technological boundaries. I've not yet reloaded the data on this computer, but would rather not have to rebuild it again, since I don't know what the issue is. Another weirdness - as I've been typing the cursor has jump... Hi there.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 and the display is very faint. But you can just about see it if you shine a tourch on it.
I replaced the inverter with a new one, but that did not cure it.
It feeds to an external monitor perfectly, and doing this I have reinstalled Windows xp pro with no problems.
So I presume the laptop is working correctly, and the screen is not damaged, as everything functions as it should, apart from the display.
Any ideas or help would be really great, as other than using it permanantly linked to an external monitor, (bit of a problem with portability...lol), it is a great laptop.
Many thanks in advance.
Deevie.

A:Dell Inspiron 1520 display very faint

The test you did with the torch would indicate the backlight has blown. It's a tricky job to replace it so if you are not confortable taking it apart I would get a (recommended) professional.

And, yes it is a great laptop, I have the exact same model.

As stated, my system is a Dell Inspiron 1520, which isn't manufactured here any more, and the last BIOS upgrade was A09. The BIOS detects an external HDD for booting, although I've never tried it, since I'd first have to load an OS onto it to test it, but it doesn't detect my external DVD drive as a boot option, even with a Windows/Linux DVD inside it during BIOS loading. My internal drive is quite paralysed, it hardly reads anything any more, not even blank DVDs, and with a lot of struggling, sometimes manages a CD. DVDs are pretty much out of the question.
Is there a way to hack the BIOS or is there some other BIOS revision that will work on a 1520, either of which option will have the BIOS detecting the external DVD? Please, this is very much an emergency! Just a few hours back while trying to install Nero I ended up being infected with a virus that erased my boot sector! It took me ten minutes of continuous ejecting/reinserting procedure to manage booting via the XP CD and restoring the MBR..

Hi Guys & Girls

Please can anyone help, I have a 2 year old Dell Inspiron 1520, which has a problem with the CD/DVD writer (TS-L632H). Everytime I try to either read or burn a CD/DVD a message comes up saying "please insert a CD/DVD in E Drive".

I've looked in the device manger folder, there is no error message or symbol, but it says that the device is working properly. I've already updated the drivers from the Dell web site & still nothing.

Dell are wanting ?120 for a tech man to come & look at it & a further ?80 for a new drive if required, because it is out of warranty.

I even thought about buying an external rewriter, but would like to try & fix the problem myself first.

If anyone can help in anyway I'd be extremely grateful. I'm not a geek when it comes to fixing comps, but I am good if given instructions.

Many thanks in advance for any help given.

A:DELL INSPIRON 1520 CD/DVD RW TS-L632H ATA DEVICE problem

Hi DonnyLass,
Sounds like one or all of the reader lasers bit the dust and your going to need a new drive. But...it also could be your system doesn't recognize the media type you are using. Have you purchased 'new disks' lately? Is this occuring with all your CD/DVD media? If it's happening with all your media old or new it is most likely a hardware failure even though the Device Manager says it is working o.k. and their are no flags up.
Happened to me and I bit the bullet and bought a new drive.
Best of luck,

Hey guys,

I recently formatted my PC and installed Vista Ultimate on it, after many attempts at installing the microphone slot (that you plug in beside headphones) I gave up with the Sigmatel drivers and decided to try and get the webcam microphone working but it doesn't show up anywhere even after I installed the microphone and the dell webcam manager program. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you

(the problem I had with Sigmatel was that if I installed the driver it would make the sound stop working as well, even though it showed "playback" and "recording" as working in the sound options. I ended up just removing the Sigmatel drivers and have to use the ones Vista installed automatically - the file I was using to install the drivers was R171786)

Over the last month, whenever I close my laptop (not shut down, just close), it may randomly shut down and turn off the PC. I reboot and get the notice that my system has crashed. I have saved the DMP files and attached them in ZIP here per the instructions in the admin thread.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've updated my BIOS on the Dell to the latest revision, that didn't seem to solve it. I did run a Drivers update a few weeks ago to make sure most of my drivers were current, that also didn't solve it.

btw - I'm running Windows7, 32bit, updated over Vista. Dell Inspiron, 4gb RAM

These were caused by your Aumour firewall file scmndisp.sys. I would uninstall all traces of it to see if the problem disappears.

I would also run a system file check

Type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow

TO WHOM HAS DELL INSPIRON 1520 BUILT IN MICROPHONE IS NOT WORKING.

I have Dell Inspiron 1520 and I have issue to built in microphone is not working. I tried to execute the Sigma Tel driver from Dell Driver and Support website but prompted 'Exit Error; Error : Device Object not present, Restart system and run setup. Then, asked Dell support to help and they are not really helpful, after System Restore and drivers upload and finally asked to reformat the laptop........

Anyway, this is what works for me.

1) Download the Sigma Tel driver from Dell Support Drivers page and save it in Desktop
2) Shutdown your computer
3) Start your computer and press F8 at the Dell Logo page
4) Select Safe Mode (not others)
5) Proceed to work on Safe Mode
6) Right-click the Sound icon and activate the Sound icon
7) Select Recording device.
8) If still not working, then execute the Sigma Tel driver that saved in desktop

then, shutdown the computer and start as normal, you may see the system able to detect the built in Microphone then.

Hi All, I hope somebody can help!

Dell 1520 Inspiron running vista home premium up to date with all updates except SP1.

I have vista set to automatic updating and this has worked well until I noticed that Sp1 had not installed. I tried to do it manually and it starts then after some time it aborts with the message
" An internal error occurred while installing the service pack" error number 800f081f.

I'velooked at the microsoft support page for this problem and have tried all the actions they recommend:

1. Downloaded full standalone SP1 multilanguage 32 bit
2. Disabled Avast (anti-virus)
3. perform hardware scan - no problems
4. run system file checker. Aborted during verification phase (10% complete) with error message "Windows resource protection could not perform requested operation".
5. run memory test - no problems
6. uninstalled avast and performed all the above with same results.

After each action I reboot the computer and tried to install from the standalone version I had downloaded.

My hunch is it could be something to do with the language support versions of vista (I don't know what Dell ship as standard in the UK) but don't know how to find out which one I have.

I've tried to post an email with microsoft but they only support the US And canada via e-mail.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated

Thanks.

i have a dell inspiron 1520 laptop with an iffy dc power jack , i have replaced multiple power supplies with the cheap replacements offered on ebay. i have finally determined that the dc power jack on the computer itself is worn out and defective after trying a known good power supply from my daughters machine and having it not charge mine. it appears that the 1520 model jack unit requires the unsoldering of the pins on the motherboard to remove the part. is this true? the research i did shows the inspiron 1525 having a circuit board that snaps on on and off and holds the power jack , requiring no soldering, which my older model doesnt have, thanks paul

Hello~

I've been having a problem for a while now that I cannot seem to fix, and am fairly sure I caused at some point messing with services.msc

Anyway, my laptop, an Inspiron 1520 laptop with a 1390 WLAN wireless card will not connect well with any router. It will connect with a signal strength relative to the distance from the router physically, but it will always be a speed of 1 mbps, leaving me unable to open any web page or AIM or what not.

I've updated my wireless card drivers and I've been moved from my campus to one house for a week, to another two houses in the span of a day, and two more houses after that. So I've had a significant test base on this.
While everyone else's laptops have functioning wireless, mine does not.
I have tried changing router channels and messed with other router settings, but I have to assume the problem is on MY end, since it's localized to my laptop among all of the locations I've been.
I've tried turning off my firewall, which hasn't fixed anything of course.
Tried turning off WZC and using the Dell wireless manager, tried the opposite. Neither works.

I've tried an enormous amount to fix the problem, scouring google for days, but the only way I can connect to the internet is via a physical ethernet connection(which is fast and wonderful in nearly all cases).

If you need any other pertinent data, I can supply it.

Does anybody know how to remove this annoying, constant hissing/ringing noise from my dell inspiron 1520 laptop? I remember fixing it before by clicking on a unknown button in my volume properties but its not there anymore.

I've also downloaded that RightMark CPU Clock Utility and it removes it but it keeps shutting down my laptop when it feels like it.

Anybody any other ideas??

Thanks

A:Constant ringing/hissing sound coming from my dell inspiron 1520

Hello sconer,
Check in the RightMark options and see if there is an option to disable the sleep/hibernation feature, this could be the cause of the shut downs, also check your power options and in "choose when to turn off display" make sure it is set to never, as for the hissing/ringing noise i would reinstall the sound drivers and see if that helps. good luck.

I apologize in advance if this topic is not in the right forum. I am having serious issues with my Dell Inspiron 1520 with XP 32bit Media Center Edition. I bought a Seagate 500gb/7200rpm hard drive about 6 months ago and got a message this morning saying "read failure on internal hard drive". I am pretty sure it died as I've slaved the hard drive to another computer and it's not being recognized but the motor is still going. On to my main question here.... How do I know that it's not the motherboard that has gone out? I've been having problems here lately with my quickset drivers as well as my video card drivers but I thought that problem had been resolved. I've also been infected with countless virus's and trojans as of late even though I have anti-virus programs/malware programs. I had the "google redirect" for the past month and was finally able to get it off just Saturday. My motherboard crashed about 2 years ago and was replaced under warranty. I've read that the motherboards in this particular model are crap.

I am worried about my motherboard as I put another hard drive in the computer and I just kept getting BDOSs but it was too fast for me to see an error code. This hard drive is configured for Vista 32bit and is for a different model Dell and different motherboard so I am not sure if that would make it not work.

My second question would be if I had to replace my motherboard would I have to go back with OEM ... Read more

A:Dell Inspiron 1520 hard drive crashed... did motherboard crash also?

There's no reason to think it's the board.
Did you make a warranty claim on the drive?
Did you install XP on the replacement drive, or just try to use it as is? A repair install may solve the problem, but a clean install would be better.

Hello everyone, I'm having some serious trouble finding an answer to an error my laptop just sprung on me. I just upgraded Vista Premium to Win7 Ultimate on my Dell Inspiron 1520, but now my harddrive is full. I'm assuming Windows backed up a lot of nothing somewhere that I can delete, but I have no clue what to delete to get my space back. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, Version 6.1.7600, Build 7600 with 160GB HDD with a primary partition that Windows 7 is installed on (80GB) and a Recovery Partition (80GB). I can access the recovery drive (I'm not sure how, thought it should be locked) for some storage, but I'd rather just have a single 160GB partition, but that's for another day. My primary concern is getting my storage space back, if Windows has some large backup file somewhere that I can delete, can anyone tell me where to find it and if it is safe to delete it? I find it hard to believe my HDD would fill up with a single upgrade.

Before I upgraded I did a factory default restore and had plenty of room, but now my harddrive only has 14GB free...this is unacceptable. My system is running 4GB memory, too.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks for your time.

Hi & Welcome.

This could be because you installed the wrong driver, are you absolutely sure you have the right one - you have to take into account that your OS has a bit (x86 or x64), you're OS have a service pack, it has a package (Ultimate, Basic), etc.

Crisis Averted

Well, after some more digging I found a rather helpful troubleshooter on Dell's Support Page:

Dell Printer Troubleshooter

I'd recommend using it if you are having similar problems. Interestingly, it seems as if the uninstall was not completely successful before, even though I used Revo. I had to go into Device Manager and click on Show Hidden Devices under View and uninstall it there as well. This may or may not have been the final trick to get it to uninstall but the printer works successfully after using this step.

Also, after going through the troubleshooter above you will find the latest driver for download on one of the steps. Currently the driver is located here:

Dell AIO 922 Driver

Now, I think I actually had the latest driver...BUT after you unzip/install the driver I found an uninstall file in there located here: C:\Dell922\install\dlbtunst. This may or may not have been the final trick to get it to uninstall but the printer works successfully after using this step. Then I rebooted. [Note that when you unzip the driver it will ask you immediately if you want to start the process of installing the driver, but at this point you want to cancel out of that. You'll do that later...see below.]

Now, upon reboot I actually got the found new hardware balloon which is what you're hoping for to show that it was completely uninstalled previously. Note that during this process of finding and installing the new hard... Read more

Hi,

My laptop (Dell Inspiron 1564 - Windows 7 Home Premium) slowed down a few days ago and I decided to restore the system to Dell Factory Image. The process started but stopped more than halfway and gave the following message, "Failed to apply Image". I restarted the system but it would now not boot up, not even in safe mode! Perhaps, during the restore process few essential Windows files have been erased.

I want to restore the Dell Factory Image and cannot re-install Windows since I have lost the product key of my original Windows 7 installation DVD provided by Dell at the time of laptop purchase. Your help / advice is solicited and would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

P.S. System's Recovery Partition is intact and has factory.wim and other related directories / files intact.

A:Problems with Dell Factory Image Restore - Dell Inspiron 1564

The product key sticker on a Dell laptop is usually in the battery compartment.

Have you tried to run the Dell restore again? It won't boot because the restore started but failed so the "C" drive is corrupted.

If that does not work, suggest posting on the Dell forum where you can get help from those more familiar with Dell's.

Hello everyone,

Both the laptops Dell Inspiron 15R and Dell Inspiron 7548 came with 6 GB of RAM. I'd like to upgrade it to at least 12 GB by replacing the 2 GB dimms in both laptops with 8 GB dimms.

Was wondering whether it is safe and okay to combine different memory modules from different manufacturers.

I'm also leaving the US next week and so would prefer getting RAM that's more reliable and wouldn't mess up the laptops.

Could you guys please recommend which ones you'd get? I've bought Samsung and Crucial in the past and didn't have any issues.

Here's the existing RAM information from CPU–Z:

Inspiron 15R:

Inspiron 7548:

Based on the above information, could you please recommend the sticks that you would get, preferably from Amazon?

Dell's upgrade page for Inspiron 15R recommends this one:

Dell 8 GB Certified Replacement Memory Module for Select Dell Systems - 1600MHz LV SODIMM : Memory | Dell which is 1600 MHz.

So can I get this one for that laptop: Kingston Technology 8GB 1600MHz DDR3L (PC3-12800) 1.35V Non-ECC CL11 SODIMM Intel Laptop Memory KVR16LS11/8 at Amazon.com

This would match the manufacturer of the existing stick (Kingston).

Dell's upgrade page recommended the same stick for Dell Inspiron 7548 as well.

Since I wasn't able to locate Hyundai's 8GB stick, is it okay if I get Kingston or Crucial's stick:

Over the last 2 days I have been having a problem as indicated in the title of this post. The fault has rectified itself 3 times, but again today, it is back to "battery plugged in, not charging." As I am running the laptop (Windows Vista Home Premium; 32 bit) on the adapter without problems, I assume that the adapter itself may not be faulty.
I also have a Dell Inspiron 630M laptop running Windows 7.  Can I safely use that adapter with the Vista laptop, without causing damage to the Vista ?  If it is safe to do so, and the battery on the Vista starts charging, then it would indicate that the Vista adapter/charger has some kind of fault.
Hoping someone can give me some guidance. Thanks.

A:Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. Battery plugged in not charging. Can I use adapter from a Dell Inspiron 630M laptop ?

If the adapter has the same plug and the same or higher power rating, you can swap them.
Check to see whether the 1545 recognizes the AC adapter or whether it shows unknown (F2 at powerup).  If it shows unknown with two different adapters, you have a bad power jack or a bad mainboard.

I too bought a Dell Inspiron 530 - the First machine, after installing my lexmark printer 3400 driver not only gave me blue screens but memory issues with the windows desktop not painting correctly and icons missing! So I called Dell and they told me how reset the machine back to the factory settings...but I still encountered the Blue screen of Death even after that and then going to standby/hibernation and coming back - clicking to yahoo and checking mai! Boom Blue Screen every time! I called Dell and they replaced the machine with another Dell Inspiron desktop 1 week ago. I hooked up the new one and the same exact thing has happened - I restored the settings again and have already had the dreaded blue screen Stop error code 0x40000080 even with out now installing anything related to a printer!!! all while coming back from hibernation! So what I have read here is to get around this issue is to never let the machine got to standby or Hibernation is that correct?? or do I need driver updates! why in the world I would need new drivers when this is a brand new machine!!! i have just purchased a DELL Inspiron 15 5000 SERIES - 5559 with Windows 10 Pro pre-installed in Spanish. I have also purchased a DELL 24" additional screen SE2416H.
Whilst watching live internet broadcasts (TV, Youtube etc.) on Chrome, Edge or Firefox, as soon as I connect the screen to the laptop by HDMI cable, the sound on my laptop speakers disappears. Upon disconnection of the HDMI screen cable, the sound re-appears.
However, the sound doesn't disappear when using other sound applications such as Skype.
This means I can't enjoy watching internet TV with sound on the 24" screen.
Please advise how to fix this as the main point of purchasing the 24" screen was precisely to be able to watch (and listen to) TV programs.

Hey, im having some issues. I have a DELL inspiron 5100 laptop and i just recently removed a virus that almost destroyed my hard drive, I got it to work fine but after a few days of use it started to freeze up on the DELL loading screen on the start up, i accidently pressed the F12 key and it took me to a screen with different ways to start up XP, like through the Hard drive or a disk.
i selected to run offthe hard drive and it froze up any help?

thanks

A:[SOLVED] Dell inspiron 1500 laptop freezes after DELL loading screen

hi, after you hit F12 did you see the diagnostics program at all? Ordinarily I would say It may be worthwhile running a scan on the hard drive if you can. But, I see you removed a virus, can you tell me if it was with the help of the antimalware section on this forum? or did you just remove it yourself? I need to know if you are absolutely sure you removed all traces of the virus - if you had the help of a forum they would have given you the "all clear". Have you tried starting in safe mode at all?

Hello,
I have recently upgraded to windows 10 and everything seems file except one problem I am facing which is the wifi card connectivity issues. My connection to router drops very frequently, curently the generic driver which windows think is appropriate is installed. I wanted to undate that with Dell's driver which I can't find on driver download section. 64 bit WiFi driver is NOT there. 32 Bit driver is but that won't install on my machine.
Can someone from Dell help? either to give me the link for correct driver download or confirm driver is not available in which case I would need to downgrade to windwos 8 as the system is unusable in its current state.

A:Dell Inspiron 15R 7520 SE - Windows 10 64 Bit WiFi Driver not available on Dell Site

Hello,
On the Drivers & Download pages for the Inspiron 15R 7520 there are only 64-bit options for Windows, whether 8.0,8.1, or 10.   So those drivers are the ones for the 64-bit version of Windows 10, as long as you filter the operating system option to Windows 10 64-bit.
The file name may state "Win32" but if you click on the "View Details" link, and then check "Supported Operating Systems" near the bottom of the page you'll find that the driver supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
You don't mention which wireless card you have in that system so I can't link directly to the specific driver.  Which card do you have and what error are you getting when trying to install the drvier?
I would also recommend updating the firmware on your router.  Many routers need an update to be able to handle Windows 10 specific drivers and cards reliably.   What router brand and model are you connecting to?  And do you have problems with all routers or just this one.
Lastly, here is a link to the Dell Networking & Wireless Support Center.  You will find a few support articles in there that may be of help to you.
Let me know which card you have and when the last time you updated your router and, if you can't get the connection to work, I'll see what else I can suggest to help you.

I have a Dell inspiron 530 that will not boot. Its running xp professional with a core 2 quad. When I turn it on i hear one beep and it sticks at the boot splash screen. F2 and F12 do nothing. So far I have tried the following:

1)Swapped hard drive out with a known working one.
2)Removed both sticks of 1gig ram and placed them in different slots.
3)Swapped out one stick of ram at a time to determine if one is defective.
4)Swapped out all ram with known working ram.
5)Removed radeon graphics card.
6)Tried to do a repair on windows from a disk but I cannot get into the boot settings.
7)Tried unplugging everything except the monitor and power cord.

After attempting these steps I still receive the same results everytime. I was thinking about removing and re-seating the processor, but I figure someone with more knowledge than me would have another suggestion for me to try. I fear the worst for this PC assuming it is the motherboard or processor. No new hardware or software was added to this system when the issue started. Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

Hi recently my Dell 2330 wont boot up properly. I press the power button and the light comes on the button and i hear the fan. The screen is a brighter black then after a few seconds the screen seems to go off but still power and fan running. Ive spoken to Dell and done all what they asked. Then today out the blue it came on as normal. I went to run a diagnostics test from a link Dell sent me and it asked me to restart the computer. I did and then it  did what it did before and has not come back on since. They have said it could be the motherboard. Any other suggestions ? Thanks

Since a few weeks ago, my microphone has only been working when tilting the screen forward. I saw a previous discussion (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-pictures/microphone-not-working-that-in-installed-in-my/f4e6d450-8bee-4981-9afc-9f5b86a633f0?auth=1 ) where people have reported similar problems. Although my laptop was still under warranty when I reported the problem to Dell, they proceeded to sending me an onsite technician with a repair microphone part who said that he could not replace just the microphone because I had a touchscreen (you would think Dell would have checked to send the right part), then a refurbished new screen that did not work at all on my computer, and then refused to solve the problem by arguing that my system was no longer under warranty (which it was not by the time they finally sent the non working screen and I called back to ask for another one to be sent—it was all problems from their side). Wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and if they were able to fix it themselves, as now my microphone is not working at all, not even when I tilt the screen.

I have also noticed the same problem for the touch screen. It only works when the screen is tilted forward, and I am afraid that, like the microphone, it will reach a point of no return. It seems to me that there is some faulty wiring from the screen components into the base. Any help would be much appreciated!

My home desktop is connected to a wireless router through AT&T U-verse and it's broadcasting just fine. I can see the name and everything when I try and connect on my laptop but there is always an error that brings me to a troubleshooting screen. I've made sure the password is correct by going to Start-Run, IPCONFIG and then typing my IP address into the address bar in my browser. I dont know what else I can do, I feel like I've tried everything! Help please.

A:Laptop (Win7 Dell Inspiron 1525) won't connect to desktop (XP Dell) wireless router

Sometimes, you need to replace the router.
Sometimes, you can call your service provider and ask them to take a look on line to see if the subscription needs to be refreshed.
But often, all that is needed (despite the fact that it is a lot of work) is to uninstall your existing system, then reboot, and reinstall everything.
You might also find success by looking at your device manager in Windows to see if you have any grey, red, or yellow flags by any related device. That may show you have a permanent hardware failure if you cannot restore it, then you are off to the store or your provider for a new cable modem or router.

Hi, I can't seem to get anything higher than 1920x1080 in the list of available resolution options when I connect my Dell U2713HM monitor to my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop. I've run this monitor at 2560x1440 on another laptop over HDMI in the past but that was with Windows 8. The Intel HD Graphics 530 Control Panel doesn't offer any resolutions above 1920x1080 for the external monitor and adding custom resolutions results in the error "the custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity". I'm using the same high speed HDMI cable that worked at 2560x1440 with this monitor on my previous laptop. I'm fully up to date on all of the drivers for the laptop.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not sure what else to try. Could this be a Windows 10 issue? Should I try the standard Intel HD Graphics 530 drivers from the Intel website?

A:Dell Inspiron 15 7559 connected to Dell U2713HM monitor over HDMI can't do 2560x1440 resolution in Windows 10

Hi JonoBloo,
The hardware on the system supports the 2560x1440. It should be a software issue. I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the video card driver from Dell website as these drivers are tested on the Dell system. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the video card.

Press the Windows key and Start typing devmgmt.msc and then press enter.
Select the Display adapters listed and right click on it.
Now select properties.
In the properties window, under Driver tab, click on Uninstall button.
Check “Delete the driver software for this device.”
You want to delete the driver click OK.

After the uninstall finishes restart the system. Then reinstall the Intel video card driver for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the video card drivers from Video section onto the system and install it.

Please let me know if this helps.

1. DELL LOGO appears
2. Screen backlight is ok
3. Windows won't start ( window's logo doesn't appear ) and if i plug an external mouse the cursor is on the black screen.
If I shut down the laptop from the power button and the start it again it works. It's very random. Once I had to restart the laptop for 3 times before the windows started.
Any ideas ?

Hi,
Thank you for writing to us!
As we understand that the system doesnt not boot and just goes up to the Dell logo and after multiple restarts the system works fine.
In that case ,Can you boot the system into " Safe mode " and check if the same happens..You can also perform a system restore and also check for updates pending .
Thanks

A:my dell inspiron 5160 only loads half way the dell logo come

I doubt Dell have done anything - your computer has developed a fault,Tap F8 key during startup and see if you can see a menu with Safe Mode mentioned. If it is there go for it and let us know if it then boots up. Note that in Safe Mode things will look rather different (large icons etc). If this fault came on recently and you can get into Safe Mode then you could do system restore to a time before the problem came along - type System Restore in search.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I found the fix here. Install Synaptics 19.15.2 Windows 10 64 Bit  even tough you have Windows 8.1.
Install like this:
1) Extract the files to another folder
2) Open the folder with extracted files copy the path of the x64 drivers
3) Go to Control Panel>Device Manager>Mice and other pointing devices
4) Right click mice and other pointing devices, select Update Driver>From Hard-Disk
5) Add the x64 drivers path
6) Select Dell Touchpad
7)  Install drivers
8) Restart

Try clearing the CMOS, might be the solution. if that doesn't work you could try flashing the bios, here's the documention on how to do both. Just follow the steps exactly and you'll be fine, it requires you to go into the actual computer to do it.

1. If connecting directly to an outlet does not work one or more of 3 things is bad: a) port where the adapter plugs into the Inspiron b) charger, c) if it is a 2 piece charger the wire connecting the charger to the wire for electricity.

2. If the battery only last 5 minutes then either the battery is worn out and needs replacing or because of the above problems, the battery is not getting charged.

You might have to buy a new charger just to see if that is the problem.

If you keep the laptop off overnight and plugged into the power, when you turn it on the next day, what does the battery read as a charge?

If you can't tell, download and install this: http://batterybarpro.com/
scroll down to BatteryBar Free Basic Version.
I run this and it give enough useful information for me.

There will be an icon near your clock which indicates the % of battery remaining when you right click and the icon tells you about how much time left when the laptop is operating only on battery.

I am constantly having this problem with my laptop. As I plug in and unplug my headphones throughout the day, I've noticed that after a couple times the bass gets really quiet and almost completely drops out. Since I have some pretty decent audiophile headphones with really great bass, it is super annoying and noticeable.
One workaround I have discovered is to go to the audio settings (either in Windows or the Dell Audio app), and switch the Default Format (the thing with 24-bit, 48000Hz in it)  to something else, play some audio, then switch it back.
A little word on my setup: I have the latest drivers from the Dell download page installed. I am running Windows 10 64-bit with all the updates. I have Waves Maxx audio "enhancements" disabled. My Default Format is usually set to 24-bit 48000Hz, but the problem eventually happens no matter what I set it to. The "headphone size" option is set to "Medium", but as far as I can tell this option does nothing if I do not have Waves Maxx enabled. Switching it also does not fix the problem.
If I play audio using WASAPI (this basically means that the music player takes over the sound card completely, and bypasses whatever audio processing Windows and the driver has) the problem does not happen.
How do I fix this problem? It's incredibly annoying, and most likely has something to do with the audio driver, since this does not happen in Linux, and it did not happen when I was runn... Read more

At the head of this I will suggest that this is a motherboard failure.
Cannot use the function keys.

I have:

1) unplugged all peripherals prior to start up
2) unplugged from mains and held down starter key before plugging and restarting.
3) Cleared CMOS as per owners manual p 196

I now have lined down the screen and the Dell splash screen is just sitting there like an inert screensaver.

Note: no abnormal beeps.

I've uploaded what the screen looks like.

Hi all,
I have just acquired a dell Inspiron 5547 laptop. I believe it originally shipped with Windows 8 but the previous owner has upgraded it to Windows 10. I went into the control panel of Windows 10 and chose the option to remove the previous users data and reset the pc. However mid-way into the reset I received an error saying "there was a problem while resetting your pc" and then gave me a few options I selected "continue, exit and continue to Windows 10" however after this the laptop will not boot. It sits on the dell logo and then goes black then returns to the dell logo. I am unsure of what to do, and when I press F8 I cannot access recovery. Do I need to reinstall Windows 10 from a USB? If I do so how will I activate it as the original Windows 8 product key is not on the back. Thanks

SO GENIUS', EXPLAIN THIS.
I own a Dell Inspiron 7558 se 15.6 inch 2 in 1 convertible and despite what this image from your website says the dell active pen does not work with this or any inspirons. Nor does the active stylus 750-AAGN that I just received in the mail. I want drivers and an explaination at the very least. I have now spent over 65 dollars on two of your products that say they are compatible one place on your website and are not compatible here in the real world where I'm trying to use them. Get your shirt together and reconcile this immediately.

A:dell active pen compatibility with dell inspiron 15 7558

I was considering migrating from the Inspiron 2-in-1 13" laptop to the 15.6" one, but I will wait until the answer for your question. I'm beginning to think that not every Dell 2-in-1 laptop has a digitizer capable of being operated my an active stylus pen. There're some complains about the Special Edition of the 13" 2-in-1 series. Also, sometimes the same incompatibility within a given model. Maybe Dell removes the digitizer without altering the laptop product number. Talking about a possibility.
Currently, I'm waiting for the 750-AALP Active pen to deliver. Dell said that it will work with a 7348 laptop, that has its 750-AAGN prematurely failed.

Hello and Welcome! It may be that your video card driver has become corrupt during the aforementioned process. Try booting into safe mode. (Do so by tapping the F8 key while the computer is booting).. If it will boot into safe mode then go to Device manager (right click 'My Computer', choose Properties/Hardware Tab/Device Manager) and uninstall the Display adapter. Restart the pc and Windows will re-install it. You may have to set the proper resolution again. Good Luck!

Hi All,
Interesting problem with this POS Dell 1520. My classmate sent it to me from NY, it arrived in fine shape the issue is that it had no hard drive and no ram missing the hinge cover all that's doable, he sent the oem adapter. I had a known good working 2.5 sitting around and a couple sticks of ram. The unit is cosmetically fine. So I drop in the ram and the drive plug it in wait a few hours walla battery is fully charged so I hit the power button and power light comes on, tic toc tic toc that was then the power light off. So I was ok I will run through the motions. I pulled the battery did the cycle routing blah blah. Shoot no go, did the shine the flash light thing on the screen, nothing.
So I ran through the memory thing, swapped slots confirmed the fan comes on, popped in a brand new drive checked the keyboard, checked all the screws undid the keyboard everything is good. So I put all that back together hooked up my test monitor (yes I know about the F/N key) still no video. So I took the ram out of my personal laptop nothing. I called him and told him were looking at a new mobo he is like ok find out and let me know. I found one but this morning I decided to strip it down and see what if anything was going on inside. I stripped it down and too my surprise I would eat off the inside of that machine......yes it has integrated graphics the power jack is independent of the mobo and it isn't loose in its mount. Hi guys!

Recently I brought a Dell Inspiron 1520 notebook. The problem that I am facing is that whenever I try to make a copy of a DVD, may that contain videos or data, it takes a hell lot of time.

When I selected DVD Copy in Nero 7, it took about 90 minutes to make an image and then copy the same to another DVD.

In PowerISO, it took about 55 Minutes just to make an image of a 4 GB DVD.

I am unable to figure out why is this taking such a hell lot of time. Is there some kind of a setting that can help me or is it a hardware problem.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hey everyone, i hope i am in the right place for my question. i have a Dell 1520 that origanlly had Vista on it, it also has a D:\ partition that is a restore partiton of 10gigs (for Vista). i have upgraded to Windows 7 but that partiton is still there. my question is, is it poosible to create a Windows 7 restore partition to repace the Vista restore partition, and if so how? , or can i just reclaim that 10Gigs since i dont think i will be going back to Vista.

Thanks in advance.

A:Restore partition on Dell 1520

That D partition brings you back to the original settings, you had, when you bought your computer. You can delete it, since the Discs that you received with your compueter have the same information, it was created by Dell.
If you already installed Win 7, there should already be a sep restore partition, now.

I have a dell inspiron that all of a sudden won't boot up.I had previously shut down in the normal way but now when I turn it on the fans start-stop-start-stop-start again and I can here one beep. After that -nothing.There is nothing on the monitor at all and no amount of pressing F12 etc helps. i have removed and re-inserted the memory modules and even tried another hard drive .
Any help greatly appreciated but I am guessing that maybe I have a motherboard problem.
thanks in advance

A:Problems with dell inspiron not booting

If it anything to do with the fans it's probably because they are clogged up with dust. I suggest you clean them out. I also suggest that you check all the cables are plugged in where they should be. Also check if the motherboard capacitors have bulged or are leaking.
