Text is Blurry on Viewsonic VX2433wm

Q: Text is Blurry on Viewsonic VX2433wm

Hey guys,
I brought my desktop back from school, but I didn't want to worry about transporting the monitor, so I'm borrowing my dad's Viewsonic VX2433wm. At school, I use a Samsung 2343BWX along with a Dell 20" 1680x1050 monitor (unfortunately, I don't know the model). However, my computer seems to act up with it connected.

The most obvious thing is that the text is kind of blurry. I tried adjusting ClearType, but that didn't seem to help. Pictures/color seem to look okay though, and most games look/perform the way they should. I made sure the video card is outputting 1080p, and I also switched to my integrated graphics chipset (Intel HD 3000), but it looks the same. I tried opening AMD Catalyst Control Center, but it tells me that the "Host application has stopped working". Doom 3 BFG edition also crashes once I get in-game.

Here's the weird part: When I connect via HDMI my AOC L32W761, all of these problems go away. AMD CCC works fine, the text looks okay, and everything seems as it should. When I connect only my TV, everything is okay too. Why would this happen? I've switched cables, switched ports, uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers with driver cleaners, and I can sometimes sort these issues out, but I'm pretty stumped right now. I don't think the monitor had issues before.

My setup is this custom build I put together last year:

Intel Core i7 2600k
ASUS P8Z68-V Pro/Gen 3
AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6950 2GB
8GB DDR3-1600 (2x4GB)
Corsair TX-750

Thanks in advance!

I have it hooked up with HDMI (brand new gold plated cable). The text especially is blurry/fuzzy and the screen doesn't take up all the space it should - about 1/2" at the top and sides, bottom is ok. The guy at View Sonic support said it was a video card issue and I would have to figure it out with HP or Intel. Can anyone help me? I have Intel HD graphics. The monitor is Viewsonic VX2270-Smh-LED. It's 21.5" 1080p frameless IPS display.

I have looked into your issue about your HP Spectre Notebook and the HDMI port not working correctly. Try running the Windows updater Tool. Here is a link to help troubleshoot the HDMI Display. If the Notebook is not having an issue displaying anything on the Notebook screen, it is not a graphics card. Please get back to me how this goes. Thanks for being a part of the HP community. Dear All Experts,

Hello! How are you all doing? Well today, I came across this Viewsonic LCD Monitor which looks quiet appealing and of course, being manufactured by the leading display technology company of the world Viewsonic! Heres the link to the product:

Now here's what I need to know:

My main use of an LCD Monitor will be to:

* Play 3D and Normal Games.
* Movies like Jurassic Park, Speed, Titanic, Action Movies, etc...
* Web browsing, doing back work on PC, Listening to music.

So, this in short will be the purpose of using a new LCD Monitor. So far, I am using CRT Monitor.

Once you have gone through the above link, could you kindly let me know how well would this Viewsonic LCD Monitor fair in terms of my above mentioned usage.

BUT NOW HERE's A TwIsT >>> While looking forward to buy an LCD Monitor, one question that kills my decision of buying it is that What if a Touch Screen LCD Monitor will be made available once Windows 7 releases to users. Then would all these LCD Monitors sold out today will be consider completely outdated not only in terms of technology but features as well. Hi

I just installed win 7 for the first time.
And i want to ask about EI 9 and blurry text.

When i open IE 9 then on some site sthe text seems a littel blurry/fuzzy
Actualy this text im writing here has a small blurry look.

I tryed to disable smooth edge text and i did severals cleartype calibrations with clear type on and off

The text in windows 7 folders and system looks sharp and good compared to the Text in the IE browser, so it has to be IE 9 related.

I did some google search on blurry text and there are other peole having this problem also, but i could not find any way to fix it :s

I run with 1900 x 1200 60 hz and it had no problems in vista or xp.
It is just win 7 with this browser i am having problems on some sites. Then i tryed to run in compatibel mode and that helped a littel on some sites. But it isent 100 %
good.

is there a fix fo rthis ?
And i dont want to use other browsers because i normaly like IE

If I have a pop up box in the center, it shows blurry also but if I drag it to the side, it is not.

Any help would be very appreciated. I have to do a lot of proof reading for work, and the blurry text makes me feel sick.

Hi guys.
I got a brand new laptop and updated to windows 10 from windows 8.1.
Windows makes me hate windows 10. There were issues like monitor brightness and sound. But now both are fixed after updating the drivers, i guess.

Now here is the main problem. I have laptop with 1080p resolution, for reading purposes. 15.6 inches though. So the GUI looks really small when its at 100 display ratio (or whatever its called). So i have increased the ratio to 150% and most of the applications have gone super blurry.

I have looked for fixes online, but all the solutions i have found do not work.
I have tried XPE Windows 10 DPI Fix. (Did not work)
I have tried putting a cmd file in start up. (Did not work)

Now i am rethinking why i bought a windows laptop.

My specs:
Make - ASUS
OS - Windows 10 (Previous 8.1)
Resolution - 1920x1080
Screen size - 15.6 inch
Windows Updates - Up to date

Hi, my laptop screen is very similar to yours. Default setting was 125%. Trying 150% - fine.

Have you ever tried Clear Type tuning?

I am struggling with the widely discussed problem of blurry text in Windows 8.1. I have made countless adjustments to monitor settings, display settings, video card settings, ClearType settings, color schemes, altered FONTSMOOTHINGGAMMA registry value, used various calibration programs, enabled and disabled ClearType, enabled and disabled that high DPI thing, and re-checked several times that all the relevant drivers are up to date. It's all useless. Working with Windows 8.1 is still sheer murder on the eyes.

I would have certainly begun to question my eyesight or possibly even sanity, if it wasn't for the fact that I have two computers turned on simultaneously, one with Windows XP and one with Windows 8.1. I am using one monitor, unplugging it from one computer and plugging it into the other whenever I want to switch from one computer to another. I am looking at the exact same document with the exact same version of Word, and under Windows XP the text is comfortable to read and I can write for hours without problems, and under Windows 8.1 I feel my eyes getting tired within minutes.

It must have something to do with the way fonts are displayed under Windows 8.1. Look at the font Times, for instance. Under Windows 8.1, the comma looks just a little more than the period, and the period looks just a little more than nothing. Under Windows XP, the period looks like a proper period and the comma looks like a proper comma.

The difference is even more striking with Total Comm... Read more

The day before yesterday I got onto my computer & EVERYTHING was larger than normal. I then went to the Settings in Display Properties & put the Screen Resolution to 1152 X 864 pixels like I had it on. (I didn't change the resolution to the larger size before & my husband says he didn't either) After I changed the resolution to what it was normally, All of the text was blurry!!! I have a HP vs17e moniter (it's a flat screen), so I reset it to the factory settings, but that did not help. I went into effects and changed the font smoothing to ClearType, that helped a little but not a lot. I also downloaded something called Clear Type Tuning from Microsoft, but that didn't do any good either.
I messed around with the resolutions & set it at 1280 X 1024. It made the text not as blurry, but the smaller text still seems a little blurry to me. (My husband says its not but he doesn't see very good anyway, & told me that it was me, but the current book I am reading text is fine).

Does anyone know what may be going on???

Please help me.

Other applications, non-Microsoft, do not have this new 'feature'?

Anything new installed recently around the time you noticed this starting to happen?

Does it happen everywhere in those M$ apps?

Suspect it's a setting within them or Windows, related to focus maybe or maybe within Catalyst, is where i would look, and upgrade your video driver/suite to the latest and see if by chance that fixes it. [13.1 is the latest stable release, I believe.]

I would leave the clear type ON probably, interesting issue, if it hadn't corrected when you took cursor nearby, I would have suspected the monitor was starting to go bad.

Yesterday i came home to my computer, which i keep booted up pretty much all the time. Now all of a sudden i notice this weird effect surrounding all text and images. The best way i can describe it is that it looks like everything sped up and suddenly stopped, and now there is this weird trail following every word and image. The actual text and images themselves aren't messed up, but there's a smudgy trail following everything. Here's an image of what i'm talking about. . I tried restarting the system, but that didn't work, Then i went into safe mode and then restarted. That actually seemed to solve the problem, but now it's back again today. I'm thinking something's wrong with windows vista itself (the problem isn't just in firefox, it happens on my desktop as well). I don't think there's anything wrong with the monitor physically. Any tips or advice will be greatly appreciated!

Hi all,

I'm getting this weird blurriness of the text on my monitor. It only happens after then PC has been on for about 30 mins, which makes me think it has something to do with overheating. So, first I thought it was my Geforce MX440 (because the fan is noisy at startup, so I'm gonna get it )warrantied"), so I put my old TNT2 in, but it still did it. I haven't got a spare monitor, so I wont be able to test that for a while.

The font goes blurry (but not unreadable) for a while, then intermittently changes from blurry to normal, having this weird shadowy kind of thing to the right of the text.
I've attached a jpg of a screenshot, I don't know if people will notice it, but believe me, after hours of looking at word, you get to notice it!

I have it on clear type now, and there's no blurriness on the text, but still on other things (like the cursor, the thing that blinks when you type).

What I want to know, is what is causing this, and does cleartype always look so weird on CRT's?

I have a Diamond View 1786FD

I know this was addressed and not resolved about a year ago. If there is another thread about this issue please let me know.

Had to replace my Samsung monitor with a new Samsung SD590_S27D590P. The older monitor was connected to my ATI video card via DVI. New unit required HDMI which my video card also uses. So, all is fine except the text EVERYWHERE basically is out of focus or just plain hazy. I have tried clear type, and I have gone into APPEARANCES to uncheck everything one at a time. To no avail. So I am looking for ideas to solve this one. Very annoying for sure.

I have a second HDMI cable plugged into the monitor as position 2 for TV input. I just thought of swapping the cables around Who knows.

So, help please.

A:Hazy or Blurry text

I have no idea if this is related. But my Laptop is prone to hazy text. The thing that improved it the most was color calibration of the video card. Most especially the Gamma setting. The text was so blurry I had to use dark themes in forums just to read them easily. Now it's still not as sharp as my old Desktop with VX900 CRT monitor. But it is usable with normal themes.

I would search your video card and Gamma adjustment and also color calibration. There should be instructions if that card lets you adjust the Gamma.

Recently bought this monitor and when I try to set it to its 1440x900 native resolution the text is very difficult to read in that it is grainy. I have to set it to a lower resolution but in doing so the text isn't quite crisp. Do I need a new graphics card? My current one is a Radeon X300 with 128 MB. Thanks in advance.
BTW, I have updated the drivers for my current card but it didn't seem to help.

A:953BW Samsung text is blurry

I would upgrade my graphics card anyways in order to run that native resolution, you'd get better performance all around. 1440 x 900 is pretty demanding for an older card with only 128 megs of vRAM. The picture might look "grainy" because the card doesn't support that pixel aspect ratio or something. A more high-end desktop video card is likely to resolve your issue.

EDIT - Microsoft has released an update regarding some blurry font in IE9. Some users also note it seems to have improved the fonts in Firefox as well.

Font smoothing ie9 update in latest recommended updates

As I see so many posts all over asking "Why is the text blurry"??, I'll post this thread and maybe it might help you out possibly.
Here's just one example from me in Firefox 4.

With gfx.direct2d.disabled set to True, normal look on the left, and with the enabled blurry look on the right:

Some users, not all, now notice blurry text in Firefox 4 and/or IE9.
*Some may only get this with system specific hardware/drivers. Some may not get the problem at all.*

It basically comes down to (not going to get technically into it) a problem relating to Hardware Acceleration that these new browser now use, and Microsoft's Direct Write/Direct2D/Direct draw components. Pretty much a fix needs to come from MS, not the browsers' developers. (Both browsers now have HA enabled by default).

Until then, a couple workarounds that have worked for me since I encountered it months ago and others, can be implemented.

A particular workaround in Firefox that I use is to type in the address bar -

about:config
I'll be careful/OK

Find the Boolean entry - gfx.direct2d.disabled, and set it to True.

You could also un-check - Use Hardware acceleration when available, in Firefox's Options Advanced/General tab.

I leave mine enabled, and just set the Boolean value to Tru... Read more

A:Blurry text in IE9 and/or Firefox 4?? READ THIS

Additional Observations:
IE9 vs FF4

I get completely identical results either way. When using GDI FF4 and IE9 are equal. When using D2d/DirectWrite FF4 and IE9 are equal.

IE9 has an advantage in that you can change on the fly without a restart. Many pages render in IE7 compatibility mode by default giving the impression it works better, it doesn't, the page has just dropped down to GDI rendering, so it isn't using DirectWrite.
On using About:config gfx.direct2d.disabled.

I have read that this is exactly the same as unchecking "Use hardware acceleration when available". Both of them disable D2d and leave D3d alone. Also changing it in the in advanced preferences over-rides the about:config setting , so you may as well set it in the advanced preferences and forget the about:config setting, unless you have a test that verifies it does something different.
Bug or Feature?

Do a bit of research and you will find that the softer smoother (blurrier) fonts are on purpose and a sign it is working as intended. In fact if driver differences are playing a part at this point, it is most likely the systems that show sharp fonts that have broken drivers because they are reverting to GDI fonts. These new fonts are more typographically correct. DirectWrite fonts are meant to ignore pixel boundaries to flow more naturally and have bidirectional Anti-Aliasing. This makes for a more accurate font representation, that flows, moves and transforms better. BUT it also means... Read more

Hi everyone,

I woke up this morning to find that the text in certain programs appears distorted and blurry. I first noticed it when I checked Gmail, but when I opened Android Studio, I could not read the code in the files (the text in the menus appears okay). I have tried turning Aero on and off, changing the screen resolution, DPI, etc. and nothing has worked. I would really appreciate any help on this as I am not able to do any work until I can read what is written in my programs. Images are fine and the text in the forum appears fine. It is code in Android Studio and some buttons in Gmail (that I have found so far).

It is almost as if someone has taken their finger and smudged a line from top to bottom of the screen (in a few places) so that one or two letters in those (vertical) lines look blurry or smudged. Recently I bought a Intel (R) Pentium G2020 ~ 2.90 GHz (2 CPUs) which came with a Intel HD Graphics integrated video chip and installed Windows 8. My monitor is a Dell one LCD and its resolution is 1280x1024(32 bit) 60 Ghz.

Recently, I'm suffering text blurry problem. If you see the following pictures, you'll understand :

It sometimes automatically fixes and sometimes I need to do a factory reset in the monitor(turning it off and turning on by holding the power button).

But the problem is occurring too many times.Sometimes windows shows a popup saying " Your resolution should be 2560x1600 bla bla". But if I set the resolution to 2560x1600, my monitor stops working.

I can confirm that M$ did NOT fix the blurry text problem. This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE for an OS to be released with a bug that was known long before RTM.

There could be legitimate reasons for this, though. The leaked version might not be the real RTM. It could also be a driver issue. Regardless, if this is in fact the real RTM, how could M$ release an unfinished product?

Its another nail in the coffin for Win 8/8.1 in my case. I hope it eventually gets fixed, but as it stands now M$ still has done nothing to sway me towards upgrading from Win 7.

For those who may be wondering, I'm running dual Nvidia 675m cards in SLI.

What blurry text problem? I have yet to see any text that doesn't look sharp, and I have seen it on a number of configurations. Are you sure it's not a driver issue? Did you install the NVidia 8.1 beta drivers? By the way, this is News? Posting in the news section?

Could it be your monitor has a goofy sub-pixel format?

I suspect that most people use IE so I chose that broswer to display my article in. But IE9 renders the text darker and less clearer. Using compatability mode in IE9 sorts the problem out, and renders the text crisp and clear as it does in Firefox, but then by using compat' mode in IE9 the paragraphs are all over the place and the links bar is not the same.

By "blurry", I mean that the text is not crisp or clear. When you write with a pen and the ink is starting to run out, that's what it looks like. Also the text is slightly smaller, very slightly, and is slightly darker, almost a half-bold, in fact.

The ch's of words appear to be too close together and the l's are not very good. The text appears to be crunched up, making it look blurry or unclear.

I've tried installing the windows7 update to fix this problem but to no avail. It's obviously nothing to do with cleartype because Firefox renders the text perfect. It's just IE.

For an example, although it is not a very good one because it is a snapshot, I have attached a JPG. The image right is the IE, and the image left is the Firefox. Imagine the IE image on the right to be a little less clear than it is and you'll understand what I mean.

Any suggestions?

I might as well add that my article was designed in NOTEPAD++.

I have a radeon 8500 and connected it to my tv the first time using the S-video out. Everything is great, my divx movies, and video games look good but I could barely read any text from the tv. If the text are large then I could see some of them, but blurry. I think I adjusted every possible setting on my video card, and on the tv. IS this the was it is suppose to be, or are there any other options and hidden sitches I can configure? Thanks to anyone that can help.

A:Blurry text on video out, from radeon 8500

This is normal, because the highest resolution a regular tv will do is 800x600, and generally 640x480. So it will always display text very very bad. Unelss you get a high definition tv that has the capabilities of doing 1024x768.

Sorry but there is nothing you can do about this.

Problem with blurry text/websites/certain programms using windows 10. Hi I have noticed since updating to windows 10 that my laptop has just lost all of its sharpness, really hard to read for longer periods of time now. Its noticable on the desktop, websites, steam, and on football manager as this is quite a text driven game. I have used the HP website to try and update drivers but the latest one available it says I already have a newer driver? Would anyone be able to help??  Or point me to the very latest drvier compatible to my machine? I have googled the issue and tried the ticking/untciking DPI in the programms properties but to no avail. Any help, much appreciated. Thanks

A few weeks ago while I was playing City of Heroes (an online 3d game), my screen flickered and then all thext had black streaks through it, rendering it unreadable. I restarted and it was fine, until it happened again about w eek later. Anyway, I turned on my computer today and it's happening non-stop now and restarting doesn't help. I can't read anything that I'm typing right now, for example
If it's part of a graphic, it seems to be okay, and I'm not sure but somehow it seems like the amount of contrast between the text and it's background changes how terrible the black streak is. Black on white is unreadable, whereas the blue forum headers on the forums page is pretty much okay.
I tried a different monitor and plugging in to a different power source (desparation!) and neither of those things worked.
If I take a screenshot of a page and zoom in in Photoshop, I can get the streak to kind of go away enough to read it. This makes it very hard to search for help on Google, especially since I don't really know what I'm searching for. I also don't even really know if this is even the correct forum to be posting this question, because I don't know the source of the problem, but I'd expect it to be a graphics card/driver issue or something related to that.
Does anyone have any insight on what I can do to fix it?
Thanks!

~ Andrew

I have no idea why but in some applications like Chrome, Audacity and Installer wizards, the text is blurry. It's not blurry in any other applications that I've come across yet. I've gone through the personalisation thing in Control Panel with the Display settings, and got to the point where now only select applications and icons are blurry, is there a way to fix this in these applications?

I'm not seeing anything terribly obvious in the screens.
Minor blurriness in a couple but the text in the last shot just looks like the system needs it's cleartype setup properly.

For the icons you could try a cache rebuild, but I'm not entirely convinced there is a problem with them.

Hi,

I am new to Windows 7, I noticed that my current resolution is set automatically by Windows 7 to the max on a 22'' screen which is 1680*1050
at that high resolution everything is super sharp and crisp..
But if i try to go a little lower, even by one step, the text and the objects
seem a little bit less sharp. For example if I go to the 1280*1024 resolution, like I am used to while running windows XP, the sharpness fades a little bit..

Why does this happen? I just update my Video card driver

So I thought "it.. must be the 3D that's screwed up!", fired my game back and well... it's running great. No loss on FPS or whatsoever.

PSU is powerful enough for this card. Motherboard is fine for overclocking. Drivers are updated.

Hi, i'm (as many of you guys, as i can see on those forums) experiencing DPI-Awareness issues on my brand new laptop. I'm running windows 10 and thanks to those forums, i was able to partitialy fix it. All of those solutions, i could find here, worked for me (custom scaling level in control panel, some .exe file, even creating batch file with some registry changes a putting it in the startup folder). The problem is, that with every sinlge one of those solutions, when i plug in a second display, the scaling is applied to it as well. Which i dont want to be happening, i want the second display to be at 100%, while my laptop screen at 125%. Is there ANY way, how to achieve this without a blurry text in some apps?

Hi,I deal with this problem since an upgrade to windows 10 and hopefully someone of you guys know the solution.  I have a dpi scaling set for 150% and that is fine for me except some apps are really blurry (so far i noticed for example skype, spotify, facebook chat/search bar in web browsers, even device manager). I searched the web for a solution and each of them tell me to set scalling for 100, 125% or manually disable dpi scaling for every app i use but when i do this everything is ridiculously small so it is not really the solution, more like bypassing it.So, going to the point, do you know any way to keep apps like skype big and make them sharp at the same time? I know it is probably more windows 10 issue and its scalling on 14" fullhd screens but maybe someone has a solution or at least more information about it (does microsoft knows about this issue, do they work on some fix or smth?) Oh, and also my two finger tap doesn't work (i only have two fingers click). I read posts about changing the registry on windows 8.1 but unfortunately it didn't work for me on windows 10. Best regards

OK so I have two monitors of 1920 by 1200 pixels each, one HP the second Iiyama. Each is supplied by a DVI cable (I have two Nvidia Geforce 210 graphics cards each of which has a DVI output at the native resolution). Recently the Iiyama stopped being identified as an Iiyama and was just labelled generic pnp monitor, whilst the HP is always seen as an HP. Plus the default resolution of the Iiyama went down to 1024 by 768.

I've manually adjusted the resolution of the Iiyama back to 1920x1200 and 60Hz progressive, which it accepts, but the problem is that the monitor text is extremely fuzzy and difficult to read but the resolution is the correct 1920x1200 resolution. I believe the output from the video card is sharp since if I take a screenshot (Printscreen) of the very fuzzy text and view that portion of the screenshot on my HP monitor it's perfectly sharp so it must be something happening at the level of the monitor.

If I swap DVI cables around or connect to a different video card DVI then it's still really fuzzy and labelled generic pnp.

I read in a few places about EDID settings but am nervous about trying to flash my monitor or do other crazy stuff without being totally sure what the problem is. Can some kind person suggest what I should do next?

Did you get a driver disk with the monitor? If so try reinstalling the software for it.

This problem started about 3 weeks ago. Every now & then (about half the time on PC) the text on the screen appears to be fuzzy or blurry, almost washed-out as if it were waterbased ink in the rain (see attached screen grab); it almost looks washed-out or sometimes grayed out. If I mouseover and highlight the blurry text and then click outside the selected, fuzzy-text area (de-select the text) or scroll up & down, the font then goes back to normal for a little while (returns very soon). This happens when browsing (via Firefox), in wordpad, Word, Excel, and even the names of desktop icons and when typing in a blog- like this one, text in news articles, captions of photos, etc. are blurry. Note that only the text, never any image, is blurry. Monitor is a Hannspree 23.5" LCD, card is ATI Radeon H 4250, OS is Win 7 Ult 64 bit, 8G RAM, AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.80 GHz. PC is homebuilt but has been running perfectly for over a year. I have made no system changes, and have not downloaded any software recently. The entire screen does not show blurry text, usually just a section of it, say 10-20% but in the same area. I read on some blogs where they suggested it could be caused by using the VGA out put into a digital monitor (as mine was ALWAYS set up) so I swapped out the VGA cable for a DVI cable. Same issue. I tried every single resolution choice on the display, still the same. I reinstalled the video card's driver, downloading it from ATI. Still the same. I unch... Read more

I recently purchased a VGA Y Splitter to connect both my PC and my Xbox together onto one monitor. A 19 Inch Widescreen Samsung SyncMaster 923nw. Before I had connected my PC's VGA cable into the Y splitter, the picture quality was fine. I connected the monitor's VGA cable and the Y Splitter, the quality of my screen decreased significantly, and there was bad ghosting. So I took it out and connected the VGA cable back into my monitor, and the picture quality was better, but still not that great. The text is fuzzier than it was before, and I haven't seemed to find any resolve. I have updated the drivers of my graphics card and my monitor, yet the fuzzy text is still there. Is there any way that I can get rid of this blurry text problem?

check the cable on the monitor side ,

After a clean reinstall by sysprepping along the lines of this tutorial, there are a few instances where some parts of my screen are displayed in a fuzzy manner. Fonts look out of focus, the way they do in a screen grab. The rest of the screen is correct.

Here are two examples :

This happens in a small number of dialog boxes of software installers (example #1), but also with the working screen of Driver View, portable version (example #2). Note how the top line of Driver View's screen is rendered correctly.

I suspect either a bad driver or a bad Windows Update. I had some trouble with the latter : Checking Updates getting nowhere, Installing Updates taking ages for a single update, computer forcefully stopped during one install, error not repaired by Microsoft Fixit, Updates uninstalled then reinstalled...

Now my Windows Updates are (seemingly) complete and correct. The computer is just out of Sysprep, with only Windows installed, two user accounts, most drivers in place, almost no application software and data not yet restored.

Windows Update substituted some drivers after I had installed the chipset drivers from Asus' site. During the installation of drivers and Windows Updates, I observed, at one point, the opposite effect from the one I just described : some software installers' dialog boxes would display in-focus fonts, but with a very light, rudimentary font, difficult to read.

On the other hand, the general appearance of Windows has been noticeably en... Read more

After update to 8.1 first thing I noticed is that my installation windows/boxes are blurry, both graphics, text and buttons. Then I opened up Logitech Setpoint and found out that its blurry too. Applications such and Office or Adobe do not have blurriness in text or interface.

Also I noticed that text in Metro apps such as mail goes from smudgy to clear in few flicks whenever new text renders on screen.

If I adjust scaling myself (by percentage not by slider) text gets a lot better in desktop environment but with custom scaling I cant get the window/box size or font size right, its either too small or too big.

I tried playing with ClearType but it didn't to shizz.

I also have installed the latest drivers for Intel and Nvidia before update and after update just to make sure.

Hi, I've been tearing my hair out over this problems for the last couple of days. I decided to upgrade my video card from a 650 to a zotac 960 2gb AMP. All was well and it ran most games. However, upon changing the resolution or refresh rate of my monitor, the color of the whole screen would turn really dark and the text would become very blurry.

I've installed the latest driver for the new card and my monitor is listed as Generic PnP. It's a LG M227WAP monitor but I was not able to find any drivers for it, and it had worked perfectly before with the 650.

And also, just last night, some of the text on my computer became very small. I've attached a small image to show you what I mean. Icon images and stuff are normal sized, but google chrome titles and the right click bar are very small. I'm using 100% display scale which is what I've always used. It's never been like this.

I'd appreciate any help you guys can give me. Thanks for reading this.
Edit: Oh, and when I was using the old graphic card with no problems, I was using VGA. Now I'm using HDMI because the 960 has no VGA plug. Maybe this might have something to do with it.

Hello all, this is my first post on these forums. I just wanted to ask this question.

I recently purchased a : 24" LCD HDTV / Monitor for use as a monitor, but I have a few serious questions.

Well currently at the time of righting this post I am using the above monitor, and I have to squint to even read my text.

Some details:
Native resolution is 1920 x 1080, but I had to manually change it to 1828 x 1030 for it all to be within the screen (at native, things were outside).

I am using a HDMI cable to connect my monitor to my Nvidia Geforce GTS 250

Seeing as it is a good connection (HDMI) with a good resolution and 1080p, not to meniton the good video card it shouldn't be like this.

The text is so unbearable to read that I have to squint and be really close to even read what I am typing right now. The text just doesn't look right, it is very blurry and fuzzy looking. Everything else is mostly fine as far as pictures and videos and stuff, but there is like a white-border esque to the text and small images. I tried changing the sharpness and other various settings on the TV / Monitor but that didn't help anything.

If somebody could help me to make my new LCD TV (that I use as a monitor...) to look good and have the text clear please let me know!
Answers highly appreciated, thanks!

I have already solved the problem but I was still wondering if others have experienced the same... On the latest drivers, Window 7 text looks like crap... No amount of tweaking could fix it... The built in custom display could not create my native resolution adequately, neither could Rivatuner.. I would make the custom resolution (Samsung 203B native 1400X1050) and apply it but everything would become even worse and my monitor still gave me the "Not native resolution" warning every time I turned my monitor back on.... Everything looked fine without dedicated video card but once I installed my graphics card (Asus EN9600GT OC Edition) and the latest drivers, things went ugly and the control panel could not create custom resolution properly... after messing with it a bit I gave in and tried a few different newer drivers to no avail, until I dropped back to NVIDIA DRIVERS 186.18 WHQL which also came with the older Nvidia control panel... Now everything works like a charm but I wonder if anyone else has had similar experience?

Hi there,

I've only been using my Epson SX200 inkjet printer for 6 months with unofficial cartridges and it has been working fine ever since. However, since last week the yellow cartridge doesn't print any ink and the black ink is printing blurry text. I can see this when I print a test sheet after head cleaning and printing documents. I have tried the head cleaning function about 20 times and this hasn't made any difference. As a result I have had to change all my cartridges twice and still no difference.

I asked Epson and they told me to use their official cartridges, but I've been using my printer fine up until now with unofficial cartridges. Has anyone experience a similar problem? I find it hard to believe that the cartridges are the reason, though I may be wrong? I may as well buy a new printer as it would near the same amount to buy the official cartridges.

I have attached an example printout from my printer.

Many thanks for your help.

A:Blurry text printing on Epson SX200 Inkjet Printer

I've seen this on rare occasions and it is always fixed by using the manufacturer-recommended ink cartridges.

Cheap ink, cheap results.

If you want to lower your ink costs, I recommend you get one of the printers that tout 'lowest ink cost' in their advertisements. I had one a couple of years ago and it was really what they claimed. The first company I saw with such a printer was Kodak. HP followed close behind with their own model. There may be other brands; but, I do so little color printing, I don't keep up with it. A black laser does 99.9% of all my printing at about zero-point-six cents per page average. That's not a typographical error; I can print 100 pages for about sixty cents.

I have a ZBook Studio G3 connected to two external 1920x1200 displays Z24i through the Thunderbolt Docking Station via DisplayPort. Text in applications in the external monitors looks blurry, even though I have the setting to no scaling in Windows 10 for the two external monitors (100% scaling).  Interestingly enough, the text of the window that shows up when I right click on the desktop looks fine. The NVIDIA control panel seems to be using the right resolution, native. I have used HP Support Assistance to make sure that all drivers are up to date. I am at a loss. I have tried with an external UHD display and it works well, but not with the 1920x1200 display. Anybody has had this problem before? I have searched the forums but w/o luck.

Look at how AWFUL windows 10 fonts and text are...I have tried so many solutions that I've read about online but NOTHING has worked! I'm wondering if either windows 10 fonts will not render correctly with this monitor model or windows 10 cannot deal with the higher resolution of HDMI...I've tried that incredibly ineffective and useless 'cleartype' turned ON, have all setting 'native' for my monitor, an LG27EA63...have tried using the 'revert to windows 8' small rendering program and at least a dozen other fixes and it still looks like utter garbage as seen below....At this point, I'm thinking I should try hooking up a VGA or DMI cable , and see if that looks better than this...the font quality and general picture quality is so poor, it's causing me headaches for extended use. Anyone have any other things to try tweaking? examples below...

A:LG 27" monitor with HDMI & windows 10 = headache inducing blurry text!

This is not a high resolution monitor like 2K or 4K. Check to see what your DPI Scaling is set to, should be at recommended.
Mine is a 2K so should not be set like mine.

This is probably the most painful issue I have with Windows 10 right now (and likely previous versions as well, but I didn't have a multi-monitor setup back then).

The monitors I have are as follows:
3840x2160 (4K UHD) monitor with preferred DPI: 144 (150%)1920x1080 (Full HD) monitor with preferred DPI: 96 (100%)

Whenever one of these monitors are set as primary, all desktop applications displayed on the secondary monitor (doesn't matter which) has blurry text. Exceptions are the Windows Store Apps like Windows Store and Microsoft Edge, along with the Taskbar/Start Menu, the Taskbar/Start Menu settings screen, the Taskbar context menu, and the desktop context menu which passes the DPI test with flying colours, with crispy text on both monitors (occasionally a DPI switch bug gets in, but I can mostly ignore that). The problem is, as you can probably guess, is that >99% of the applications I use aren't Windows Store Apps.

Here are some screenshots. The "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" text is what the text should look like while the Visual Studio 2015 text is an example of the text most desktop apps get. The blurry image is what happens when the UHD monitor is not the primary monitor.

Note: Both of these screenshots came from the 150% DPI monitor so it's best viewed at that (144) DPI level. The 96 DPI monitor is similarly affected.

EDIT:I have found a solution, using a DVI to HDMI cable on an amd card will fix this problem, this thread can now die, hopefully someone else will find it if they have this problem.

Basically, i know what the problem is, but not how to rectify it. My tv (Sceptre X235BV-FHD, a rebranded sony bravia)suffers from an EDID mismatch issue or chroma subsampling due to some form of post processing done on my tv, i'm not sure which but either way the results are the same, my colors are inaccurate, text is blurry and it's painful on my already unhealthy eyes, in HDMI at least, vga is normal.

That said, i know how to fix it on nvidia cards, i used the method posted in this tutorial to disable audio over hdmi:
Cropped, off-center display at native 1900x1200 resolution on LG245WP and/or LG246WP monitors with recent NVIDIA drivers

The problem is, i recently upgraded to an amd card, and while i tried to use the pixel format to fix this, the amd drivers do not fix it, not only that but the registry edit to disable audio over hdmi that i used on nvidia cards no longer works(basically, if it sends audio over hdmi it causes my tv to think it's looking at a cable box or game system, not my pc), or the registry entry i need to input is different, or in a different location.
I have heard that i can permanently disable audio over hdmi through editing the EDID with this tutorial:
Force DVI/HDMI resolutions and refresh rates

However, i do not know what i must do to edit the EDID to pe... Read more

Greetings! I've searched everywhere for the answer to this issue. It must be common, but I can't find it anywhere. I'm using MS Word 2007, but the problem was the same in 2003. I sometimes get a text box that is behind regular text. I need to move it. One normally just selects a text box and drags, or cut and paste, it where one wants. However, when it is behind text, it can't be selected. I have found no way to select normal text and "send it behind."

How do I get to this text box that is behind my regular text? I've been told to "move the regular text out of the way, then you will be able to get to your text box." But the text box moves with text!

Thanks,

7nyerik

Alright here's a good one, monitor less than a year old, I could never load drivers for it because screen would go haywaire, real wavy along the side edges. ok so I've been using the win98se driver, plug and play monitor ones, well now it's doing it even with them. I d/l the latest driver for win98 from Viewsonic, load them and it really goes berzerk, delete them, screen is still unstable. So, I do a print screen while it's doing this thing so I can post it for you folks to look at, and when I paste it into notepad the picture is fine in the file. what I mean is that to the pc the screen is normal, man am I confused. What does this mean???

About four months ago I bought a supposedly rebuilt Viewsonic P815. About one month after I hooked it up it started to not degause. The screen is pink.

Every once in a while it will correct itself and be fine for a day or two, then it goes pink again. I've replaced cords and plugs.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I run XP on a new box and a fairly new 19" (year old) View Sonic LCD monitor. The monitor worked as advertised on my old PC but when attached to my new one I frequently get a flashing green power indicator light and will get no picture.

This happens 100% of the time if I cold start the PC and I have to screw around with the restart button and on/off power button to get it to come back to life and in truth I do not know which combination of button pushing gets it to come back. I now use the power saver mode because that seems to be the most consistent way of bringing the monitor back to life but even that didn't work this am.

ViewSonic's web site wasn't much help.

Help here?

I've downloaded and gone through the Device Manager install of the Vista signed and unsigned drivers from Viewsonic. Choose the vx2835wm as the monitor and... "file not found". Viewsonic support sends me to a link that says "no drivers available" and then says to download their Vista 64 package I've been doing since day 1. (been doing this and all suggestions since Nov 2007)

Vista Ult. 64 uses its default non-pnp drivers where I have my 1920x1200 native res. with everything but gaming (the reason for purchasing this monitor). I can't get anything higher than 1600x1200 (in gaming) and well, its fuzzy. Can't use windowed mode, OS drivers stop functioning and reload frequently. I've set the res. in the nVidia panel to 1920x1200, set the game ini file to 1900x1200 but it still will only work at 1600x1200 although the games support the higher resolutions.

Is there anyone here that uses this monitor that has found Vista 64 drivers that work? If not, is there a 28", or even 30, that has Vista 64 drivers that will work at native resolution with any program or game?

I am ready to sail this monitor out the third floor window and buy another if I can't get a solution for fixing this one so need recommendations on other monitors as well.

Thank you

Dwarf I don't see your reply here although I did get an email that you posted.

The following link is to the signed standard Viewsonic monitor driver for Vista 64-bit. This driver should be installed with administrative privileges. For games, you might need to adjust your settings such as anti-aliasing in order to be able to use this resolution. The higher certain settings are, the lower the maximum resolution that is available. This is just a matter of trial and error, bearing in mind that higher resolutions require more working RAM on the graphics card and also a card of sufficient power to yield a decent frame rate at these settings.
Dwarf

I did download those many times each time it was updated by Viewsonic. It goes through the device manager wizard fine and then 'file not found'. However, someone did message and email me their driver folder from the monitor cd and it worked. Apparently my cd was a bad one. So all is well and working. Games are working great with the right resolution now.

My daughter's AOC monitor died, boo hoo, it was 6 years old so it was bound to happen. O.K., I buy a spanking new Optiquest Q75 plug it in, load the drivers and voila, it totally screws up her pc, I mean the screen was distorted like i never seen before in my life. It was like 2 giant magnets were going up and down the sides of the monitor. I brought the monitor up to my pc, it worked fine...those dam drivers screwed up her entire operating system, I could no get them off her pc so I reformatted her HD, 4 hours and many grey hairs later, (I mean if I still had hair that is), she has a new monitor. Imagine me thinking I was just going to plug it in.

I'm trying to decide between the G90FB 19" or the P95F+B...
Here are the links:
G90FB
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-116-282&depa=1
P95F+B
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-116-232&depa=1

The only real difference between the 2 is the fact the Professional one (P95F+B) has an aperture grille while the Gaming (G90FB) has a shadow mask

I know the shadow mask uses dots (dot pitch) while the aperture grille uses lines instead of dots...

Which monitor will give me the best picture for gaming and crisp clear text.

A:Which is the better Viewsonic monitor?

If you can afford it I'd get the Professional version. I had Philips 107P (Professional) monitor with a .25 Aperture grille and it was the best monitor as far as picture quality/clairity I've ever seen (I'm sure there are better, but not without paying major money).

Hi,

I have a ViewSonic 19" UltraBrite a90+ with a ati radeon 9800 pro....

When I play games like CS things far away and even up close kinda shine with this glare and its really annoying. Plus my monitor -- which i got last december -- has these lines going acrross it. On wallpapers and programs such as a game theres these strips that go all over.

I dont think its my video card and i have my fresh rate @ 120hz

any helpers?

These are the MAXIMUM refresh rates of your monitor, exceeding them will damage it. Your monitor does not support 120Hz.

2048x1536 maximum resolution

Displays a maximum resolution of 2048x1536; 1600x1200 optimal resolution at 87Hz flicker-free refresh rate for easy-on-the-eyes viewing.

2048x1536 @ 68Hz
1920x1440 @ 73Hz

I was looking to go from my 22 inch NEC FE2111(too big) to an LCD monitor; However, I can't seem to make up my mind. I've narrowed it down to the Viewsonic VP191B ($449.00 at newegg) or the BenQ FP91G+ ($329.00 at newegg). I've heard nothing but good things about BenQ, and I already know the excellent reputation of Viewsonic. I do alot of gaming so that's an important factor. I know CRT has better visual quality than LCD, but I need to conserve space, so any input on these 2 monitors would be appreciated.

A:Viewsonic or BenQ

We use Viewsonic 17'' at my work & they r ok. Although I have a BENQ at home & I find it way better than the others. I had an LG one b4 & seriously the BENQ not only looks better but was cheaper too! they r owned by Acer or some other joint big organisation & are not crappy at all. others have said that because they haven't heard of them then they must be crap, but you just have to research them b4 judging.

Either r good ... but yeah thats just my opinion :grinthumb

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post here so I hope someone here can help me. I'll lay down my situation, and then I pray someone has an answer for me. Ok, here goes:

I have a ViewSonic 32" LCD T.V./Monitor ((Link: http://www.viewsonic.com/support/desktopdisplays/lcdtv/n3250w/ )) Just in case you want to see it.

But anyway, the problem with this monitor is this. Over the past month or two, my monitor began flickering. Over time its gotten worse and worse, and now the screen becomes garbled on the right half of the screen and sometimes it completely blanks out...almost as if the screen is melting. I've tried everything...the first of which was buying new cables. I bought a new monitor cable from my work...but yet the problem persisted. I bought a new graphics card ((ATI Radeon x1650 Pro 512MB card)), installed it...but it was still garbled. Recently I tried hooking a new desktop up to it...and still the monitor was garbled. So I narrowed it down... it has to be something with the monitor. But before any other conclusions are thought up, I also have a Xbox 360 plugged into the monitor that runs fine...no screen flickering or garbling present at all. So, the problem must be in the monitor cable adapter/hook-up thing located on the back of the T.V. Before I fight over the manufacturers about fixing my monitor...does anyone know anything else I can attempt to try and fix this thing?

Thanks for any reply....this thing has been a pain....

This monitor came with a DMI cable and the usual VGA cable. I ordered and installed an nvision 6200 card and I installed the latest drivers for the card and disabled the onboard video on the motherboard. Question: I attached the DMI and VGA cables onto the Video card but I not sure that this hookup is correct. Should the VGA cable be attached direct;y to the tower or is my present hookup just as good. Picture quality is good but it 'may be' better if the VGA is hooked to the tower. As usual, TIA.

EDIT: Just thought my question and I believed my present hookup is the only way for me to go. Why? Because I disabled the onboard video, hooking the VGA cable to the tower would not do anything for me.
