a simple question......will a HP Pavilion 15-n034sa motherboard fit into a HP Pavilion 15-n083sa ?
help me obi-wan youre my only hope!!
Actually that's a hard question, generally its not possible to install another motherboard, sometimes it is. In this case one is an AMD platform and the other is an Intel platform, there could be tons of differences in mounting holes, physical design, clearance, connectors, heat dissipation requirements, cooling systems, etc. Laptops are not like desktops that use more standardized designs.1 more replies

IF the charger is bad, there is no way to "fix" it; instead, you would have to replace it.Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:HP Notebook PCs - Using and Testing the AC Power Adapter | HP® Customer SupportHP Notebook PCs - Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 8) | HP® Customer SupportGood Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------Please click "Accept As Solution" on the post that solves your issue to help others find the solution. Please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on the left of the Reply button to say thanks fopr my help.========================================================================1 more replies

Can anyone help me find the detailed specs on this computer (HP Pavilion a111on? I really just need to know what kind of a motherboard I have, I can't tell if it's an ATX or micro-ATX motherboard. Anyone know what the difference in measurements are?
MicroATX is 244 x 244 mm.
Download and run Everest from www.majorgeeks.com and it will tell you more about the motherboard - then you can google for more details.
I put the motherboard in a new case. I am trying to connect the front panel buttons. I can't get the reset switch to work. I can't find a layout diagram of this motherboard either.
Do you still have the case the motherboard came out of? If so trace the front panel connectors back to the source and go from there.

Hello. The motherboard in my DV7 has gone the way of the dodo. HP Parts does not have it available for order, and the "recommended" resellers ... aren't. I've scoured the 'Net, and actually found and ordered one, but the next day received word that the vendor could not, in fact, get the board. A couple phone calls to other potential vendors netted the same result. It seems the motherboard is hard to come by. Anyone have any ideas or recommendations? My hP Pavilion is dead. I bought it used. Was working well, except for no sound from the on-board speakers. I opened it up and found that someone unplugged the speaker assy. I plugged it in, and the laptop would not power up. The LED light indicating power applied from the adapter wouldn't even come on. I opened the case and unplugged the speakers. Ohmed out the speakers, and found the left one a dead short. The computer will still not work. Dead as coffin nails. Evidently there is a protection circuit that won't reset. It says that the MB is from Asus.
I'd try going to this site and seeing if you can narrow down which model it is. Mobo ID Tools
Then you can go to the Asus website and get the diagrams you're looking for.

After having this HP Pavilion a1410n for many years now, and always having to hear the screaming fans whirling away at 100% 24/7 I have found a solution! I did not discover this. I found it in 1 little post in one of the many many forums with complaints about this Motherboard's BIOS update problem... So I am here only to post another one so that others may find it easier.
When booting up your computer hit F11 3 times and it will enter Setup just the same as if you had pressed F1. BUT ITS NOT THE SAME! Go to the BIOS menu in setup. What was once inaccessible in the original F1 setup is now available in the F11 Setup! You can have full control over the fans speed and start up voltage. I just discovered this about 15 minutes ago and did it, and my computer is quiet as a mouse! FINALLY I HOPE THIS WAS EASY TO FIND! I spent all day scanning forums for solutions! SpeedFan Sucks! I am hoping one of you fine people can help me to find a replacement motherboard for my HP Pavilion p6226p.
I have gone through the whole troubleshooting routine -- all peripherals, RAM, replaced with known-good power supply & CPU, and still can not get into the BIOS setup or boot past the HP splash screen. I'm down to replacing the motherboard now!
This computer currently has:
Motherboard -- M2N78-LA (Viola)
CPU -- AMD Athlon II x4 620 Quad Core
Graphics -- NVIDIA GeForce 9100 Integrated
I'm fine with a replacement motherboard with at least equivalent graphics, as I do occasionally game with my boyfriend (League of Legends, Magicka, running on lowest settings is fine with me). I'm in the market for a new computer, but would like to keep this one limping along for another 6 months or so if all it will cost me is a motherboard
I have a Frys & Microcenter nearby (located in Houston) and would like to go pick up a shiny new motherboard ASAP, so if you could point me to one on their site, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!

Motherboard and processor failed on Pavilion p6-2133w with AMD A6 3620, AMD Radeon HD 6530D, Windows 10 Pro.I paid Staples Easytech Replaced to replace motherboard and processor with AMD A6 3650.The system is now identified as HP Pavilion p7-1154 Desktop PC -- I did not expect or know the product name would change.I installed AMD Catalyst Driver https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx which recognizes the Acer S201HL display but I still can't increase resolution beyond 640x480.Two questions.First, this may be a dumb question, but is the change from p6-2133w to a p7-1154 an issue?Second, one idea is that the BIOS should be "reset" -- which I thinks is the same as "flash?" -- so that it will recognize the hardware but I can't figure out how to do the reset.Any ideas appreciated.
Greetings, 1. Only if you are in warranty. 2. You can enter 'SETUP" , set BIOS to defaults, and "save and exit". Staples replaced the p6-2133w MB with a similar board used by HP in a different product number. You should get HD screen resolution. This integrated graphics board may be HP OEM. Remove the AMD graphics driver. Let Win 10 install the driver and see if that helps. Install a discrete graphics card if the AMD GPU is not compatible with Win 10. Cheers!3 more replies
Hello,Recently I had posted a message regarding an HP Pavilion DV6-3210us not booting but just blinking the caps lock. I've just replaced the motherboard & exact processor & when I turned the unit on, the fan sped up very quickly as Windows attempted to boot but within 20 secs, it shut down. When I attempted to restart it, I received a message saying that the unit was overheating & was shut down but it safe now. Once again, the fan sped up quickly & the unit shut down before Windows could come up. I've contacted the MB seller & they said they believed it was a bad motherboard & will ship another one out. Is there an issue with these computers doing this?Any comments would be greatly appreciated.Thank you!
If they have a bad motherboard yes. I think your seller knew he sent you a bad one and is willing to replace.7 more replies

Does the motherboard for a HP Pavilion a1777c TV PC have support for EIDE HDDs as well as for SATA? I bought this computer for $15.00 at a thrift store and it has no HDD. By the loose cables inside it's clear that the original HDD was SATA. I do not have any spare SATA HDDs but I do have some EIDE drives sitting in a few old computers that I no longer use. I've seen a few pictures on the HP site that identified IDE/EIDE connectors on HP motherboards that look pretty similar to a couple empty connectors on this MB. I just want to find out for sure from someone here since I can't seem to get a definitive answer on my own investigation.I would like to try to fix this computer up as a PVR. It sounds like something went wrong during the Windows re-installation. Since it sounds like you have installation media and this is a fresh install anyway, the first thing I would do is try installing again from the Installation DVD.12 more replies

Okay, we need more information from you, like... -PC model number (not just Pavilion, but the whole model number as a LOT of Pavilion PCs exist.)-Monitor model number and brand, or pictures of ports on the rear. HP Pavilion g7 right speaker is non-functional. The issue occurred after unit was dropped. I am absolutely certain it is not driver, software or balance settings etc etc etc... Is it possible that the connection was jarred loose somehow? Both channels work through headphones.
Could be the connection, or something broke like the actual speaker, one of the wires, or the circuit board/adapter/plug for the speaker.
You will need to open it up and a look, no other way around that.
Would like to pose this question and see if any of the group can assist me.
I currently image our new CPU's with a secure image of Windows XP Sp2. Our computers (desktop and laptops) mainly consist of Dell's and images work fine thanks to our information management staff. However, our director has an HP Pavilion dv8000 notebook that I cant get an image to take on it. It just goes into a cycle of choosing safemode or boot normal.
The weird thing is, I have an option at the start of the image to choose "network" or non-network (stand alone) and the stand alone image works fine.
Are they any settings on this HP that I need to turn off or on for the network image to work?
Thanks in advance
Hi there, I want to install an M.2 SSD in my new Pavilion laptop but I just want to be sure this will work. My laptop part no. is V2Z44AV - HP Pavilion 17t-ab000 CTO (ENERGY STAR)It doesn't have a touchscreen.I want to install: 512 GB 2280 M2 PCIe 3x4SS NVMe TLC PA, for use with non-touch screen products 847110-004This part is listed in the laptop's service manual. When I bought the laptop from the HP store, I was only given the option of the 128GB SSD which was not enough for my needs, so I went with the 1TB spinner. This is why I'm not 100% sure that the 512GB is compatible. I disassembled the laptop and I do have a free M.2 slot. I just want to be sure this will work and that it will use the full four lanes of the PCIe 3.0 bus. Otherwise I'll look at a lower-cost upgrade. Thanks for your time!More replies

Right mate do you have all the Quickplay software. If so all you need to do is goto Start, Computer, Devices, Hardware. At the top of the page you will see System Devices. Click it.
You will then see a window just like XP. Hit the hardware tab then scroll down to the USB line.
Once there you should see "USB composite device". Right click on it and choose Enable.
There will be a pause as the device is enabled.
You will then need to scroll up a little and find "imaging devices". Right click on "HP Webcam" and enable it.
That should sort it out. If not let us know.... Hope that helps. Peace
I tried installing Direct X 9. It seemed to install fine, I restarted
like it asked me to and I tried installing and playing Halo. It game me
a error about hardware acceleration, it did the same with Battlefield
1942 (giving a slighty diffrent error, but basicly the same), and also
with a N64 Emulator. They all gave me Direct X related errors. I went
into several places (can't really remember were" to check what video
card I had, and they all said "unkown".
The audio doesn't work, I didn't really try anything to fix it other
then making sure everything was connected-which is it.
Also, I don't know if this is important or not (it shouldn't be), but I
uninstalled the defualt version of windows the PC came with, mainly
becuase of all the worthless **** it came with, I figured it was just
easier to re-install windows thne delete it all.
I can't get the thing to work, I tried Nero and CDRWIN and neither of them would burn a cd, it just said no CD writer installed
I was thinking maby it was a drivers problem, I tried reinstalling them
through the device manager section but it just said their was no drivers

I'm a little confused by what you said, "My Computer only has like 16-20gb". How big is you HDD? Anyway, go to www.newegg.com they have some of the best prices and customers give reviews on the items so you can get a better idea of which one you like. Seagate is a well respected brand. I was having some issues with my laptop being slow and randomly shutting down applications that were open. I scanned for viruses thinking that could be the cause, but none were found. I then decided to just do a total reset and erase literally everything on there. The reset got to around 62% and then it said it failed. Now my laptop will not completely turn on. It just goes to a black screen with the HP logo and then back to a black screen. Every once in a while an error screen pops up with a message saying something like CMOS checksum error. I have tried resetting it with the power button but it haven't worked. Does anyone know how to fix this? It's only a couple months old and I really don't want to buy a new one!More replies

> A component of the operating system has expired. With error code 0xc0000605 ... A did a Google-search on that code. One posting suggested that the date/time in the computer's "BIOS SETUP" was wrong, and needed to be corrected.Reboot, and enter "BIOS SETUP", and check. Another posting suggested that your computer is running a "Windows 10 Preview" version, rather than the "official" release. Is that correct?1 more replies

My HP Pavilion 15 automatically intalled the Windows 10 1607 update but it stopped my keyboard working. Oddly it was possible to enter my PIN but then the keyboard no longer worked after the home screen appeared. Using a USB keyboard gave the same result. I removed the update and the keyboard worked again but I assume if I let the 1607 update install again the same problem will happen. I have used the HP Supprt Assistant and installed all the updates but the BIOS update will not go away. It looks like the BIOS update is not supported for this model. The currnt BIOS is F.43 07/29/2016. The latest is F.43 8/15/2016 I tried to make a USB flash drive after identifying my System ID as 2293 but when selecting the BIOS file to install 02293.bin is not listed. The only ones available are 0227D.bin, 02291.bin, 0227A.bin, 02299.bin and 02292.bin. My question is where can I get the BIOS update file to match my Syetm Board ID (2293) and will updating the BIOS enable me to run the Windows 10 1607 update?More replies
I have been trying to help a friend update or correct her winxp on her HP pavilion 520w
I have a copy of my winxp cd from my dell system however I dont have the product key
code to use it. So I have tried repeatedly to reset her computer to boot from her cdrom without success. I even posted here last week and someone suggested to tap the delete
key when rebooting to change the boot sequence. I wasnt able to get it to work.
However I did accidently discover that tapping F10 brings up the Recover system on her computer. Not knowing exactly for sure if I could just correct her winxp with recoverying the whole system I turned off the computer to stop it. I have 3 questions
1) Can anyone tell me if the Recovery System on this HP model allows you to correct a current copy of your windows without reformatting?
2) Can anyone tell me how to set this HP model to reboot from the CD-rom?
3) How do I access the bios to change the boot sequence?

Hello, I have an HP Pavilion dv4 that I have put windows 10 on. Everything is working and going great considering how old this laptop is. But I do have four drivers that I am not sure to what they are. Also one drivers to my USB might need an update cause periodically my mouse disconnects for just a second and then it will reconnect and continue to work. This is the only issue I am having but I would like to get the other four drivers installed and maybe the rest updated if they need to be. I would think windows 10 would have the rest of them updated or it would show if they were not but being so old I am unaware if it would detect them. Either way any information on what I could do to get this fixed would be greatfully appricated! Here is what I have.... 1. My wife's HP Pavilion has hit the bunk, or so it seems.
It's a four year old laptop, which has been suffering from serious spyware problems for a while. Before it quit, I ran Panda active scan on it, and it detected 200+ malware infections. When I tried cleaning out Temp. Internet files, cookies, etc., IE would freeze and not respond.
Then - the mouse quit on logon. So, I thought, I've had it, time to reformat and reinstall manufacturer software. Which I did, only to find out that on boot-up mouse and keyboard both refused to respond. Not good.
Ran the diagnostic utility, which said something about RAM being set wrong, and then point out some non-specific "board problem".
Does anyone have any idea what this is about, before I reach for my biggest sledge hammer and have some quality time in my backyard with this piece of junk? :suspiciou
download Spybot search and destroy and ad-aware.
panda anti-virus sucks. Use norton or mcafee.
consider using an alternate web browser like mozilla or firefox. They're less prone to virus and trojan attacks.
I have a client with one of these, the fan is howling pretty good, looking at it carefully it seems the PSU is riveted into the case, HP does not list it for sale seperately. Anybody know of a PSU that will fit in here? or should I just toss it and chalk it up to experience?

Any information that might help will be greatly appreciated.
I have a H,P pavilion 763n with windows xp.
I bought it new but never got a system recovery disk.
It has a secondary hard drive that stores all of the system recovery stuff.
Whenever I had any problems before I have used it and it worked great to totally toast the comp back to how I got it.
The problem that I am having is my son got some kind of bug on it where it wouldn't do anything.
SO, I bought and tried to put in vista but it didn't work so I bought win,XP and it installed so the comp works fairly well but nothing that was installed from H,P isn't there.
The secondary hard drive that has all of the recovery stuff is still there but their is no way to get to it.
What can I do ?
With what I spent on vista and a new xp I could of bought a new cheap comp but I like this one.
It does (or did)everything that I would like it to do but now it don't.
Please help in any way that you can.
Thank you for your time.

My Hp says this, what do I do ,?? Hp Battery alert The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low. For optimal performance , this battery may need to be replaced primary < internal > battery ( 601) please help me me I work from home and no computer is not good lol.. Than you in advance
Hi, The error 'Primary (internal) Battery (601)' does indicate that your notebooks main battery ( not the cmos battery as the error tends to suggest ) is showing signs of wear and you may want to consider replacing it - the 601 error typically occurs when the storage capacity has fallen below 25% of its original value. Further information on this can be found on the following HP document. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443470 This is a warranty item, so if your notebook is still covered, contact HP and arrange to have it replaced - If needed, you can check your warranty status Here. If you live in the US, contact HP Here. If you are in another part of the world, start Here. Regards, DP-K1 more replies

it looks like another friend dropped off a computer that is completely messed up. its a hp pavilion 6640 or somthing like that. my friend claims it has upgraded memory but i know it came with at least 64mb. it came with win 98 on it, then was upgraded to millenium but dragged ****. i tried putting ubuntu 5.10 and 6.10( whatever the newest discs are) but it didnt work, then it made sense when i found out the specs of the machine. so is there a user friendly linux or a way to crack win 98 se? the box dosent have a "key" sticker on it so no 98 se key.
It should run ubuntu. I had a lower spec'd Pavilion with a P2 300 in it that came with 48 megs of ram. I upgraded the ram and had Mandrake 7 running on it fine.
