data verification errors with Nero BackItUp2 (Nero 7)

Q: data verification errors with Nero BackItUp2 (Nero 7)

I am using Nero BackItUp 2.0.0.0 (Nero Ultra 7) and have been receiving "data verification failed" and "Sector NNNNNN on disc has different content to source" errors recently. On the same PC (Win XP Pro SP2), I got the errors using two different burners (an HP and a Sony) and trying both a DVD/RW and a DVD/R. FYI, I use Shadow Copy for the burn, the burn process completes without error every time (i.e. - the error only occurs during verification), and I have burned to the DVD/RW many times before without incident. More generally, I didn't get data verification errors before so I am wondering why I might be getting them now. Also, could someone tell me what, exactly, "Sector NNNNNN on disc has different content to source" means? I assume it means that the source and target files are not matching in some cases. More importantly, is it a big deal? I ran the ScanDisc in Nero CD-DVD Speed and both DVDs had 100% good sectors (0% damaged or bad). Nero log file attached.

Thanks,

I make a DVD video from Nero Vision Express.

An use Nero Burn Rom to burn the DVD.

When I use data verification I get errors quite often.

Is it that poor video quality files will cause this ?
Is there anything to be concerned about ?

Because the DVD videos plays ok on my DVD player.

Thanks

A:Nero Burn Rom- data verification

Always use name brand DVD blanks (Sony, TDK, Verbatim etc) and not generic or no name brands. Always burn at the slowest possible speed for the blank media. Make sure there are no other processes going on in the background during the burning phase (eg) Screen Saver, other applications, surfing internet etc. You can go to the DVD burner's manufacturers support page and download the latest firmware which will allow you to use a wider variety of blank discs.
A burn that doesn't pass verification, even if it plays on your player, may not play on every player.

I am using Nero 6.6.08, Sony Edition with the Sony burner with which it was shipped, DRU-800A.

I did a complete Norton Ghost 9 imaging of a drive, with full compression. The image was saved to file on another disk then I used Nero to save that Ghost image to DVD. The burn reports "successful"; but, verification fails every time. However, it seems that the contents of the Ghost image are fully accessible from the DVD through the Ghost program when I browse the contents. Of course, I haven't accessed every file; there are tens of thousands. But, of the ones I have tested, all are accessible and restorable individually.

I haven't, however, attempted a complete restore yet. I will eventually do that.

When I use Drive Image 6, a DOS program, to do the same job with maximum compression, verification is always successful when I eventually use Nero to write the Drive Image image to a DVD.

Can anyone shed some light on this problem for me?

The OS being used is the 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium.

I am trying to burn a DVD video file (.vob file) to a DVD disc using Nero Vision Essentials (Nero 9).

After importing the file into the project, I played the video and found that it has no sound.

As a result, when I have successfully burned it to a DVD disc and played this disc on my DVD player, it has also no sound.

Hello, everyone.

I attempted to burn a video file onto a DVD, with Nero Express. However, the software only allows either bup, vob or ifo files. After googling such terms on the web, I came across several forums/communities and whatnot, where people kept saying that Nero Vision is required, in order to convert the files you want, into bup, vob or ifo (I have absolutely zero clue as to why the company behind Nero didn't include Nero Vision in Nero 12's software suite. Because without it, Nero Express is totally useless. But I digress)

I jumped on Nero Vision, but was told by the software that my project could only fit into a DVD-9.

Question 1: I have burnable DVDs for 120 min/4.7gb. Doesn't that mean that even if my project exceeds 120 minutes in length, if it still doesn't exceed the size limit, it's supposed to work? What on earth is a DVD-9, anyways?

Question 2: If you can just power on Nero Vision and immediately get your original file and burn it, why does Nero Express require all this bup, vob, ifo nonsense???

Question 3: What are the major differences between immediately burning your original file onto a DVD, and converting that into the required bup, vob and ifo formats?

Question 4: How would I go about doing that with Nero Vision?

EDIT: Realized that the only way to burn past that time limit (120 min)(My file exceeds 2 hours in length) is to decrease its quality, which I do not want to do. So I should go with the vob, bup, ifo stuff, ri... Read more

I have an external hard drive with some files backed up from an old XP system using Nero Back Up software (files have the .NBA extension)
I am looking for a new computer and will want to install some of these files onto the new computer. Am I able to do this if the Nero software is not installed on the new computer, or will I have to buy Nero software just to add these files to the new computer? If so, is that always the case, that one must restore files using the same software used to backup the files?
Thanks.

A:Restoring file backed up on old system with Nero..do I need Nero

Yes, you will need to install the Nero Backup software in order to restore the .nba files.

You can try using their free version of NeroBackItUp from here http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads/ to see if that will work.

If not, they have older versions of the same free program http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads/previous-versions/nero-backitup.php

See if you can find the same version that you used to do the backup.

There are other programs you can use to do backups that don't require the same program to restore files. I use SyncBackFree to backup my files. You can use the same program to restore files, but it's not necessary. You can just copy the files back with Windows Explorer.

Nero 7 is very old. Its probably not Windows 7 compatible.

Try running it in a compatiblility model for Windows XP.

You may even have to reinstall it in a compatibility mode.

Whats better on XP?Nero Expressor Nero 7 EssentialsPlease tell me the differences, what they do and what not?Edit: Moved topic to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

A:Whats Better? Nero Express Or Nero 7 Essentials?

"Better" in what way?

Nero Express doesn't bore users who only want to burn...who do not want the entire Nero suite installed (includes burning, backup, etc.) installed on the system.

CD/DVD drives normally only include Nero Express with the drives.

I'm still using Nero 6.6 so I have no clue about Nero 7 Essentials, but I'm sure there is plenty of info at the Nero website on it.

My problem is that I simply cannot get Nero to record video and sound from the TV card. The TV plays fine in Windows Media player, so I know that is working. I can sometimes get the picture to show up in Nero, but never the sound. When I try to record the video all I get is a still image. I know it is a setup problem of some kind, but for the life of me I canít get it to work. When I try to play TV through Nero I get a blank screen, and a thousand setting adjustments donít help. During setup it finds all of the channels so it is at least seeing the signal. Do you have any ideas? System information is in my profile.

A:how to burn a 750 mb data to a 800 mb cdr with Nero 6

First, make sure your burner supports overburning and CD sizes up to 800MB.

Enable overburning in Nero setup and set the limit to 99 minutes.

Burn away.

Hello,
I don't know if this new version of nero has some kind of a built in compressor, but every time I try to burn a data file that is 414 MB in size, when I move it to the new compilation window it turns into a file that is 395 MB in size. What's the deal? I hav not tried yet to actually burn the file to see if it works as it should because I'm down to my last 2 disks and am prcastinating going to the store to get more. Anyone have any idea what might be happening?? Thanks in advance!

Hi there

I used to LIKE NERO -- now it's overbloated and I regularly get DVD errors when running it on Windows 8.1 - fortunately I'm burning DVD RW's rather than the use once variety. The quality of the blanks is fine as is the DVD writer.

I tried burning the same data on my Linux system using K3B (Free of course) -- same DVD -- not a single error including veryfying after the write.

I'm not sure what the difference is but the Linux system seems to use MKISOFS or GROWISOFS which perhaps is a more reliable engine than what the PAID FOR NERO software uses. I shan't update NERO again.

If you have Linux in a VM give this burning program a try - I don't think you'll be disappointed either -- also can burn .iso's etc. I think it burns quicker too -- I'm getting the full 4.0X for DVD+RW for the discs I'm using.

Cheers
jimbo

I'm using Nero Express 6 to create a data disk of my My Documents folder. NE6 tells me it has successfully saved the data. I open Windows Explorer and ask it for the contents of the disk. Every file is listed. I ask Explorer to open a file, e.g. a Word Perfect file. WordPerfect appears on screen, and tells me the file I want to open is a read only file. I select YES to open it anyway. The hourglass appears, and stays. Cntrl+Alt-Delete opens the file manager which informs me that WordPerfect is no longer responding. If I ask MSWord to open a file, it too stops responding. If I ask Explorer to explore the file, it stops responding.
I worry that if my hard drive crashes, these disks will prove useless in restoring the My Documents file because the programs can't open the files. What am I doing wrong?

some of the other messages I got were: could not perform endtrack, power calibration error, could not perform fixation, burn process failed.

An error message appears while trying to burn data files onto a CD_R using Nero Express 5.5:

"Joliet names of these files (listed here in ISO-L3) are the same:
SOFTWARE.DOC
SOFTWAR2.DOC

Preparation of ISO9660 structures failed."

I can't locate the "SOFTWARE.DOC" files (???).

An Internet search of this problem turned up something about changing "bin file" locations (???) to correct the problem.

I had a spare CD burner and tried it to see if it is a hardware problem. Get the same error message with either burner.

The computer is running W98SE and is pretty well updated. There are no other problems evident. The CD burner has been in this computer for a couple of years with no trouble.

I ran "Hijack This" and found something called "LOADQM.EXE" which I removed, but it made no difference in the error message while trying to burn.

Any thoughts on this one?

I have installed Nero 6 (v6.3.0.0) on my computer running Windows Me.

I can listen to audio CD's, write audio CD's, copy from one data CD to another, and read software data from a CD.

But when I try to write data to a CD, the process starts but then hangs. My hard disk access light stays on all the time and the light on the CD drive flashes. After about 2 mins the Nero log tells me there is a timeout error.

Because the process doesn't go to normal end of job I don't get any log from the program.

The data I want to write are jpg files, but the same thing happens when I try to write a small Word document. I have tried it with and without my anti-virus, but it makes no difference. I tried creating a mixed disk of audio and data. The audio was written OK, but the data hung the system.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I am considering upgrading from Nero 8 to Nero 10.

However, I am not sure that I need any functionality that I don't have with Nero 8 Ultimate...

The one possible exception is Nero Media Home 4... However, in reading it briefly, it doesn't seem like it does a whole lot that isn't available out of the box for Windows 7 Home Premium...

Does anyone use Nero Media Home that can tell me what it does that might be worth buying the upgrade for. Ar ehtere any new features in Nero 10 that should cause me to buy it other than the name change?

A:Nero 10 and Nero Media Home

Didn't know that Nero 10 was being offered until I saw your post.

So, I went there and looked at it ... and I'm definitely NOT going to upgrade from Nero 9. Why? Because it looks like all they've done us bundled in two other products I don't need to justify the $50+ upgrade price.

I don't need the Video Editing SW (already have another product for that), and also already have another product for Backup/Restore that works just fine (Acronis True Image Home 2010).

What they're doing now is increasing the already "bloated" product that was originally, one of the finest CD/DVD burning packages out there.

Also, I saw yesterday that they're offering a Nero 9 "light" for free. Just basic CD/DVD burning SW -- but that's all I really need for now.

Unless you need the other add-ons, suggest you consider the Nero 9 light.

I uninstalled Nero with Vista's add/remove without success. I then used a program called Revo Uninstaller. There were still traces of Nero & error messages popping up so then I went into services & unchecked all the Nero boxes. Im still getting several error messages (runtime errors & registry error messages).

What can I do to clean up my PC
Thanks

INCORRECT FUNCTION IS ALSO DISPLAYED AS WELL AS THE CLASSIC I CAN SEE UNDER DISK PROPERTIES THAT THERE IS NO MORE ROOM AVAILABLE ON DISK=== SO IT IS NOT EMPTY. BUT THERE IS NO DISPLAY OF THE CONTENT ==EVEN WHEN USING DRAG TO DISK. I NOW SUSPECT THAT MY USE OF THE NERO SOFTWARE PROGRAM MAY BE THE CULPRIT AS I NO LONGER USE THAT SOFTWARE AND DON'T HAVE A COPY OF, CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A FREE DOWN LOAD TO AUTOMATICALLY READ ANY DVD AND LET ME EITHER SEE OR TRANSFER THE DATA TO A MORE STABLE NEW DISK ? also WHY DO I GET SO MANY "unable to copy disk parameters wrong" MESSAGES. Hiya!

I use real player and nero to burn MP3s to audio/data CDs. I always use CD-RWs in the hope that I can add to them as well as clear them.

However, Nero and realplayer always seem to finalize the disc and I can't add anything more to them or clear them, it's just like having CD-Rs.

Does anyone know how you stop real player and Nero from finalizing them? It's driving me crazy and I really need a solution.

OK. I've tried 3 times and wasted 3 CD-R's. I'm trying, with Nero, to burn a data CD: just a bunch of jpg's and freeware. I've read that Burn4Free (the 1.0 release, as I've heard the others contain spyware) can cause conflicts, so I uninstalled Burn4Free. I check the box for "verify written data" in Nero; But I still get an error message after trying to Add/Remove programs through Windoze. (Sorry to make this so long) I just inserted the Data Cd I tried to burn. "Windows can perform the same action each time u insert a disk or connect a device with this kind of file." Pictures. I select "take no action". Fast forward to "Windows cannot find the installation program..." I can Browse for the install program, but I don't have the slightest idea where to look. Any ideas? I'm running XP Home. Thanks!

Help !!

I had to clean up my system, reapplying SP2. I tried to reinstall Nero 7 using same installation package that worked previously. I get this error:

"the configuration data for this product is corrupt, contact support personnel"

I installed Windows Installer 3.1 and still have this problem. I cleaned out all references to Nero in the registry... no luck.

A:Error 1610 ? Configuration data for this product is corrupt (Nero install)

Start button, Run, regedit

Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\INSTALLER

You need to look under the key Features. By examing each of the keys found here you will eventually find one that very clearly states it is for Nero and state the version.

Nero will have two entries. One under Features, and one under Products. For example, my Nero 7 UltraEdition used these two keys to store its configuration information:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Features\62E2F0A3CB0C8B04495AA6AF7BBA0133

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\62E2F0A3CB0C8B04495AA6AF7BBA0133

Your results are likely different only in the long number string portion at the end.

Delete the key under Features and under Products by right-cliking and choosing delete.

Reboot. Try the installation again.

Hi there,

All these errors happened randomly at once:

"the application failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect"

-Office 2007
-Nero
-Adobe (everything)
-maybe more (haven't checked)

"C:\Windows\microsoft.NET\framework\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll could not be loaded"

-ATI Catalyst Control center

"The application failed to initialise properly"

-Maple

"MMC could not create the snap-in"

-Event viewer

Seemingly randomly, only recent change has been installing Punkbuster, though MS Office 2007 is a recent installation. Office stopped working, then after roboot the rest went though they may have not been working before reboot (except adobe which was).

I have tried a system restore (to a few days previous, the furthest one), to no avail.

I have Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redistributable installed.
I've installed vcredist_x86.exe (prob uneccesary with above)
All recent updates installed. Except for Office 2007 SP1 which kept failing.
I've run sfc /scannow in CMD, it said there were problems it could not fix.
There is a massive log if it means anything to anyone.
Vista has the .NET installed but they don't show up in programs in control panel - should they?
I have Vista Ultimate.

My system restore went back to before I installed office 2007, to when I had 2003 (which was only 2 weeks earlier), office 2003 works fine.

I have a feeling all of these are related considering that they all happene... Read more

My dvd burner came bundled w/ Nero express,Nero5.5.(4months ago)
In a very recent MONARCH ad Nero 6 is offered for$10.cd oem .
Next,I see a big PC mag. article about the $100 Nero 6 Ultra.
Can anyone shed light on this confusion? and should I just stick w/ 5.5 or go for an upgrade...
BTW Nero's web site didn't answer this line of questions at all.

A:Nero 6 vs.Nero 6 ultra

Nero 6 Ultra has a lot of auxiliary programs in with the package. I have Ultra and I have never compared it to the Nero 6 OEM that I also have here; but, I can say that with the exception of one movie I copied for backup, all I do with mine is simply burn data backups to DVDs and Nero 6 OEM (Basic) will do that just fine.

You can get cheap OEM copies of many softwares at www.buycheapsoftware.com. That's where I get most of my OEM software.

I know this doesn't fully answer your question; but, perhaps someone will happen along who can.

How important is it when I burn a DVD, that I select data verification? I thought the hardware already does that to some degree. Is this just peace of mind then, or is there real merit in validating what you think you just burned? It adds about 50% to the time it takes to burn the DVD, so it's not trivial.

CD was copied using NERO and data verification said it had no errors. The
disk was not scratched or dirty and it was a high quality brand. (plextor)

Then, after much searching - found the original recovery cd - worked fine.

Does anyone know of a way to check whether the data was burned on properly without any errors?

Sorry to trouble you again.  I posted about two months ago about the intermittent, and apparently random, failure of my system images (all partitions) of my computer to pass verification checks.  Link to original post: Link to Previous Windows 7 Forum Post

I had tried, in those days, an internal 2 TB WD Caviar drive and an external WD 3 TB My Book Essential drive as target backup drives.  I alternate two backup programs weekly (Paragon HD Manager Suite 12 and Easeus Todo Backup 8.02).  Originally, it randomly failed backup image checks of the backup software regardless of target drive selected and regardless of the backup program used.  Both programs always report a successful backup operation, then and now.

I have an XFX 680i SLI board... Was using the compy one night and my sound stopped working. Tried rebooting to fix, but it wouldn't reboot. It would go through post and then hang at "Verifying DMI data pool.........." or whatever, and when I say hang, I mean hang- like, the underscore cursor that flashes disappears, and the computer does nothing for any amount of time.

I've tried the process of elimination, disconnecting drives and reconnecting them one by one to see if it solved the issue... It did, until I connected either of my 2 drives. A 20GB and my 320GB. My 20GB doesn't have a copy of Windows installed, so I don't know if that has anything to do with why it hangs there when that's the only one connected, and it does it on the 320GB as well.

I've cleared CMOS and I've tried repairing Windows via the disk (XP, BTW), but to no avail. Earlier today I tested my drive on a friend's drive dock. I could access it no problem, and was able to back up my info... I just want to know for sure whether or not my hard drive is the issue or if it's the board (I've read that was the problem elsewhere), because I would much rather not waste my time RMA'ing one thing only to have it be the other.

Please help!

A:Data Verification Failed after DVD Rewriter burning.

Experiment and try full erasing the DVD RW disc rather than quick erasing unless the disc is brand new. Using Nero 6 (I know yours is Nero 7) when I had data verification problems, fully erasing the disc seemed to solve that problem. I was able to add and delete data to the compilation later without problem.

For your reference the DVD writer I used was an HP 640c Lightscribe I installed in a USB external enclosure. I use it to backup data on my work PC that only has a combo drive (DVD ROM/CD RW). However, CDs do not have enough capacity for my purposes.

I just recently got the program Nero. I wanted to get it to be my main thing to read and write and what not. But.. I don't know how to make it read. I want to get rid of my old software that came with my CD burner, where it automatically reads and locks in my CD-R/CD-RW drive. Can Nero do that though? Read and lock the drive or something similar? I wanted to get a change because my old CD drive isn't compatible to any higher upgrades other than Windows 98.. which is what I'm using right now. I'm using DirectCD/Roxio.. where Roxio wasn't even considered part of DirectCD as much or something like that. In any matter, it's very old. I want to replace the whole thing so then I wouldn't need that old software. But I don't know how to use Nero to make it do the same things, which is read the CDs when I boot up my computer, and the lock the drive. Is it even possible? If not, then what would one suggest for me to use otherwise?

Feurio is excellent for audio. The demo is completely unrestricted and you can use it as long as you like: http://www.feurio.net/English/index.shtml Not sure it will identify bad MP3s either but it might be worth a try.

Anyways, I checked a couple times to make sure I was burning the discs as Disc-at-Once, however when I went to play it in my car today, they were clearly not burned that way (ie. there are pauses between tracks). Anyways, I was hoping someone could help me with this problem. Am I missing something in this program?

A:Nero 6 DAO?

Most CDs have brief pauses between tracks. If you wish to remove them, see here:

For Nero Users.
How do I remove the irritating 2-second pause between audio tracks?

To create an audio CD without pauses between the tracks, follow these instructions:

1. In the compilation window, select those audio tracks which you don't want a pause before.
Note: You cannot remove the 2-second pause before the first audio track. This pause is not played by audio CD players, as CDs are always played from the end of the first pause.

2. From the Edit menu, choose the Properties item or right-click in the compilation window and then choose Properties from the pop-up menu.

3. A dialog box appears in which you can set the length of the pause. Here you can enter '0' as the pause length.

4. Click on the OK button to save the settings and close the dialog box.

Hiya

I've moved this to the Multimedia forum for more response

Have a look at this link, very detailed with pictures as well

ftp://ftp6.nero.com/Support_doc/PDF-Start/Data/Start-writing-BasicDataCD.pdf

Plus, there are many more tutorials here:

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/Tutorials_StartSmart_Create_a_data_CD_DVD.html

Using StartSmart is a good way to use Nero, if you're new to it, as it has all options in there

I was burning a video onto a DVD using Nero, it was transcoding the video, but then I antecedently turned off my PC (old PC with XP).

When I turn it on there are several GB's missing from my HDD, where are the files stored so I can delete them. It's a lot on a PC which only has 40GB HDD.

A:Nero 8 Help

Hello

Try looking in C:\Windows\Temp

Or run a system search for
*tmp

Or even run Disk Cleanup and just delete all temporary files

I have been using Nero 6 for many years under Win xp. It has many features I like. In addition to burning CDs and DVDs, it has a nice info tool that tells me all about my CD/DVD drives and discs inserted in them. It will let me know if the drive can process DVD + or DVD - and tells me which version of blank disk I am using.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to install Nero 6 in Win 7. I have found several downloads of free Nero for Win 7, but they do not appear to install unless you allow a host of unwanted software to install as well. Last time I tried a Nero setup, I got a lot of junk, but no successful install of Nero.

Must I pay $50-$70 to get a version of Nero for Win 7?

I'm trying to burn MP3's to a DVD using Nero 6 Ultra ... It forces the MP3's into an alphabetical list. Is it possible to over ride that feature? I want the MP3's to play in the order I load them ... I have searched every tab ... every help folder ... I'm going insane! I've been at this for 2 hours and am at my wits end!

Are you making an audio CD or a data CD? In case of a data CD, the files show up in the order that you select in your file manager. Sort by date, name, extension etc.

I have recently brought a BTC IDE1008 DVDRW drive, which came with nero 6. The problem is that when i try to burn a dvd the Buffer level very rarely gets above 15% and when it does its usualy only for a split second. Because of this i am getting very slow burn times.

Any advice on how to fix this would be great

Thanks

Q: Nero

Hi guys;
Reading you question and answers as I do all the time, I see that you guys like Nero as product. So I went out and got Nero Suite.

When loading it In the INCD4 program, which installs ( which allows you to save Data to a rewiteable Disc just like you would with a floopy disc) I got a error saying I have to remove Veritas drive letter axcess before you can load this. I went to the Dictionary there is no word Veritas. Does anyone know what this mean to me?

The rest of the Disc loaded fine, I may have all I need to do all the thing I need but If you could help me please

thanks Ellen

A:Nero

I had a look round using Google. It appears that Veritas drive letter access is software that does the same as INCD ie writes to the disc.
Is it a Sony disc drive?
have a look at this page about half way down.

Hiya all,
I have an XP1800+ & 256Mg ddr ram installed.
A liteon 40X12X48 speed writer, 16X dvd-rom & nero 5.5.8.0 installed. (wi98se- all updates ok)

been trying to make backup copies of a couple of games I play quite a lot & although my pc will copy them; it just takes hours?
Is this normal?

I have had this setup for over a year now. I remember copying a few discs when I first got it & i'm sure it only took a short while, maybe 5/10 mintes, I can't really remember because as I said, its not normally something that I bothered with much.

I'm setting the burn to "on the fly," & data copy, but it appears to me that its writing to the hard drive (I may be wrong here)
The end result seems to work ok - but I just gave up after 1 hour 25 minutes and only at 1% of the latest burn complete.

Am I forgetting to do something? Or shall I just leave it to burn overnight?

regards,
imbai.

I upgraded from Windows ME to Windows 7 home premium. When I had Win. ME, I purchased and installed Nero software for backing up personal files.
My question is, can I use that same Nero disk (from Win. ME installation) and install it on the Windows 7 system and then update the software? It's afew years old.
Thanks.

A:Nero

While it will probably install, you would do best checking with the Nero SW (Nero AG) supplier about any upgrade.

You're probably running something like Nero 7, the current version is 10.6, and I doubt that you can do a direct upgrade between those two versions. Also, it's unlikely that Nero is going to sell you an "upgrade" version with that big a gap.

Q: Nero

I've just installed Nero 5.5 that came bundled with my CD/RW (never used either before) and I've run into a problem:

I'm trying to back up my all my documents, images, and downloads - so using the Wizard I dragged and dropped the folders into the ISO1 pane and clicked the "Burn" button.

Then I got a message saying "the re-writable media is not empty" - I clicked "OK" when it asked me if I wanted the software to erase the contents of the disk - so I clicked "OK" but it still didn't work. Then in the Nero menu bar I clicked "Recorder" then "Erase Re-Writable" then chose "Full-erase" (thinking this was the same as formatting it - is it?) but it *still* won't work!

If I put the disk in and click on "Medium-Info" it says the drive is empty but it *won't* work!

I've looked in the help files in the program but I can't really find what I need, plus I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for!

Can anyone tell me how to format the CDR/CDRW and make the thing work?! And/or point me to a Nero tutorial for stupid people like me?

Or is this all the fault of the cheapo disks I'm using and if so can anyone recommend a good brand?

Thanks,

xfilesgurly

I had my Yamaha burner in my old computer with Win98 for about 3 months, I could burn anything without any problem at all, now I put the same burner in a new computer with Windows Me and my burn process fails more than not somtimes goes as high as 90% and fails, do you know if this is a problem with ME or something else. Thank you.

Hiya

What version of Yamaha have you got? Go to Control panel | System. device manager, under CD's will be the name of your drive. You may need to expand the +

Also, what are you using to burn, as in software?

FINALLY figured out how to use Nero Vision Express to turn AVI into MPEG and then burn onto a blank CD for watching on my DVD player. NOW the next goal is can I use Nero to either a) fit a movie over 80 minutes onto one disc OR b) split it into two seperate files? Thanks.

A:Can Nero do this?

I believe Nero will be able to split the file onto two disks. I couldn't swear to that as I have never tried it. If not... there are several *free* file splitters you could use to split the file before you burn it.

Hello All! I recently bought a burner, and it came with Nero 5.5 OEM. Now the trouble begins. I was able to burn some movie files for a friend, about 17 to 20 MB each, I burned 10 or so.
I went to add more and it (Nero) said "buffer under run", thought nothing of it untill now.
I wan't to make my own CD's but now I get all kinds of probs.
I tryed Nero's sugestions for buffer underrun and tweaked a few things, like slowing the burn speed to 4x!!! , well now I get "SCSI target error". Nero website is ok, but to technical for me right now. I've waisted 3 disks sofar, so now I'm only doing tests untill it goes all the way through.
I've also gotten " Invalid write state", and "comand aborted" while running a test but not "buffer underrun".

I'm running win 98 with what I think is a 266Mhz.
I only have a 2GiG hard drive, and in order to burn songs it gets almost full.
150MB is virtual memory and I have about 70MB left after converting the MP3's.

HELP I WANT TO BURN MUSIC!!!!!!
detailed fixes will be most welcome.

How do I enable limited access Nero Burning ROM. Whenever I start it up using a limited user account, it says that Administrative permissions are needed. I enabled permissions on the actual exe file..but still isn't working..so I guess I did something wrong.. any suggestions??

A:Nero

You need the "plugin" from Nero

Nero BurnRights

* Why do I need Nero BurnRights?
Since Windows 2000 and Windows XP do not grant access to low level drivers for users without administrative rights it's not possible for them to burn CDs with Nero.
* What is the purpose of Nero BurnRights?
Nero BurnRights allows users without administrative rights to burn CDs with Nero. The administrator is able to setup user accounts with exclusive "burn rights" for Nero.
* How do I use Nero BurnRights?
Please download the installer file and doubleclick the file to start the installation. Please make sure that you are logged onto the system as administrator. You will find a new entry in Start/Settings/Control Panel/Nero BurnRights. Doubleclick it to start the application.

Note: If you select "Members of User Group Nero" you will be asked to agree the generation of a new user group "Nero". Every change of the Rights Level Settings requires a reboot (including the reset). Now you can add users to the group "Nero".
