Changing Video Capture Sizes?

Q: Changing Video Capture Sizes?

I have a Dazzle 80 capture card hooked up to my laptop to my VCR, which leads to my TV. I am recording stuff like Halo 2 games, etc. I noticed that I capture on 320x240. I would really like a larger size to record with. So I went to the settings. I capture with the Roxio capture, but I edit with Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. I guess with Adobe Premiere I can't capture from it, so I use Roxio. But It wont let me change the size to capture with. Is there any way I can capture with a larger size? I appreciate the help.

Thanks!

OS: Win 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
AMD Athlon 64 x2
3 GB RAM

In another thread I wrote about how I managed to wipe out my hard drive while using a disk utility that told me my partition sizes were reported incorrectly. (Screen shot below)

I told the program to go ahead and "correct the error" which immediately killed everything. I did manage to recover my data partition and then did a fresh reinstall of Windows. However, I still get that "error message." It's not just Partition Doctor that reports it, Partition Master 8 also gives the same error.

So the question of the day is, why am I getting this error?

Next question is about changing partition sizes. I've used Partition Master for years to resize partitions but now not only am I getting these strange error messages but the software reports that it isn't compatible with Win 7. So what can I use to resize partitions. Symantec has no new versions of Partition Master.

I have C: and E: on one drive. C: is too big and E: is too small. In the past, I would have used Partiton Master to take the extra space from C: and give it to E: but can't do that now. Windows Disk Management tool will shrink C: but not give the space to E:

So the second question is, "What can I use to fiddle with my partition sizes without having to back up E:, delete it, resize C: and then recreate E: at the new size?

A:Partition sizes: Misreported and changing sizes (two separate issues)

Personally, I'd recommend Partition Wizard as it is far more flexible and functional than Windows 7's disk management utility.

Partition Wizard : Use the Bootable CD

You need to download the PW ISO and burn it to a blank disc then boot into it to partition your hard drive.

When you're done just boot back into Windows.

Can anyone help me change the partition size on a HD? The PC is a VAIO Sony Brand with a P4 2.66GHz processor, About 4 years old. 1GB DDR Ram. One HD (114,471 MB) It came stock with XP and default programs. (NO XP DISK)

It came originally partitioned as follows:
Basic HD: 114471 MB
(No Drive Letter) 5130MB (perhaps for recovery: XP & default programs)
C: 14,308 MB
D: 95,033 MB

The C: partition is too small (free space less than 2 GB) even though it's used almost exclusively for programs. Tends to fill up too quickly.

The D: has plenty of free space. Over 75GB.

The company no longer sells computers and is not available to help. Reformatting the HD or anything that could lose information or files is not an option.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. This is the best site for any kind of pc help. I've always been impressed. Thanks.

i have a word document containing different types of font with diffrent font sizes. how can i convert all fonts to a lower size? i mean "12" will become "11" and 10 will become 9 and something like that. are there any way i can do that in ms office?

A:changing font sizes

If you click view, toolbars, customise. In the format pane you have tools to grow or shrink font by one point per click. Drag the tool you want into the toolbar on the top of the page. Then with all the text highlighted, click it and it all goes up/down by one size per click from the starting size. This is in office 2000.

Hi,
I recently purchase a DIY desktop computer but it does not come with a firewire port. I installed one on the pci slot and it was detected by the computer.
Now when I pluged in a 6 to 4 pin firewire cable to my DV cam, I could not do a capture in either the Movie Maker or Premier Elements. It says 'no capture device detected'.
I checked on the hardware under device manager, and it shows that the firewire card is working properly.
I also tried using the USB port on the DV cam to capture, but it was not detected. I heard that it requires a seperate driver from JVC manufacturer. My Cam model is GR-D270.
I would appeciate alot for any answer to my problems.

I know I googled this quite awhile back and found an answer, now I can't remember what I term I used when googling and nothing I try now brings up an answer. This predicament brought me here and I'm hoping someone may be able to help.

How do I stop the Wordpad window from expanding each time I try to move it? I know I can click on the symbol in the upper left hand corner and click on move, that just gets to be a pain in the arse having to do it just to move a window a couple of inches so often in a small amount of time....

A:Stopping Wordpad from changing sizes when moved?

I don't know the answer but I installed Atlantis Nova on W7 just because I hate the new Wordpad with the ribbon so much. It wasn't broken. They should have left it alone.

Try some free .rtf editors. Either that or get one of those Tray Icon type apps that monitors your windows and keeps them from resizing or something. Probably easiest to use a different editor.

If I could put Vista Wordpad on W7 I would!

Hi - I have a problem I home you can help with.

I have run Adaware SE, SpybotSD, AVG AntiSpyware, Symantec Antivirus and cleaned out everything that I can find yet I still have a problem. When IE has the focus and my mouse is pointing over the page, the zoom level flickers, either + or - 10% rapidly. It is then that the keyboard either becomes un responsive or types capitals when it should be lower case or different characters.

I've attached the Hijackthis log file that I ran whilst the flickering was happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey all,

I just ran C Cleaner on a computer like I have done a hundred times and for some strange reason, the fonts displayed in Word are larger then the selected font size. When you create a document or send an email, the document when viewed after saving or the email appear in the correct size. Looked in options but all font sizes are set correctly for both. Draft font is not selected either.
I have to believe this is a setting as C Cleaner will change some of your Word settings back to the default (drawing canvas, allow starting in reading layout) but can't find and have never seen this.

Any ideas?

thanks,

Hi,

I've googled my behind off trying to find a solution or answer to a fairly simple question, which I don't understand it seems, (even though I'm fairly smart otherwise ). Hopefully someone here can explain it to me.

Here goes:

I know how to make icon files, and change them on my desktop folders or shortcuts. My problem is that when I try to make an .ico file it always present itself very very tiny.

I can't seem to get (or make) a nice big icon to replace another.
It drives me crazy. I mean it!

Can anyone help?

I've attached a link to a picture that shows my problem here.
Thank You!

A:Icon (.ico) sizes in Win7 when changing folder icons

Hello sickanpickan, I understand what you mean but i can not give you an answer why it happens but this little program may be what you are after (worked for me). When you create an ico or convert a png to ico it will give you the option to make 4 copies all in different sizes, if i recall up to 256x256

Does anybody have any suggestions regarding how to correct this? I would like the emails that I forward on to my friends to appear the same as when I sent them out. From Pinnacle, output your videos in the .wmv format. File sizes will be much smaller and Youtube accepts .wmv files.

Hello again

unfortunately the issue i going to ask help with is the total same issue that i had last year

Icons sizes change back to details sizes on specific folder

may also be relate to the issue that this user had

Shortcut icons re-sizing randomly

My OS had gone crazy and change icon's sizes back to details sizes in random folders, last time i had that issue i thought it was solved by this method

Icons sizes change back to details sizes on specific folder

But unfortunately it only was temporary, i had to format anyway so the problem was solved after the format and never appeared again till 3 days ago.

it not seem to be a virus but it really annoy, the only thing i done 3 days ago that was extraordinary for me was to edit some video on windows live movie maker + cccp codecs, i rarely use WLMM but happened to use it 3 days ago, and after that the issue reappear, i can't use system restore since i done alot of stuff on my pc and don't want to lose them, and also i don't happened to made restore point before the day the issue occurred and the rest are deleted..so SR is not a option.

anyone know what i can do now?

thanks in advance

A:Icon's sizes randomly change back to details sizes in random folders

No guarantees these suggestions will work but you could give it a try. See if rebuilding the icon cache helps.

Icon Cache - Rebuild

You could also try running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two) just in case your system fils got damaged or corrupted somehow. If problems are found, run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

hi there

as the title said i have really weird issue here...

the story goes like that...

i have a folder named "Desktop's icons that not in used" since old XP, i used to add all the icons of the progrems that i don't used (and use) often to it so i will find them right away when i need them, even when i format my pc and i backup stuff i also take this folder with me , put it again on the new OS and add each icon to it again when i reinstall it progrem. anyway long story short (and i think it will be right to add Weird xD) when i enter to this folder which i used to put on medium icons all this years it randomly change back to details sizes... mostly when i close other folder that have details sizes before i enter to this one.. but not allways, the windows keep remeber the icons's sizes and even the windows position and size in other folders ...so why only this folder just suddenly stop to remeber it own icon's size? is it corruption registry or something of sort?

i also tried to make a new folder with the same name, cut paste all of the icons into it and the issue still occur, and tried to disable some option that let the system choose what to change in my system's view (from look to performance) if it have hard time to display anything (which is hard for me to believe because i have I7 and Geforce 295 gtx..) and the issue still persist...

i know it just one weird and idiotic issue to make fuss about.. but i want to know if something is wrong with my sy... Read more

Toshiba Qosmio G30-155 Video capture does not work through the ports of the video in (Windows Vista Ultimate x86) BIOS version 3.90 win
Video capture is not working in Windows Media Center, even if selected as the input port composite or s-video ports in the settings of Windows Media Center.

In BIOS settings version 3.90 via esc-F1 may select only this options: NTSC (USA), NTSC (Japan), PAL (S-video).

It is noticeable that the laptop is supposedly in capture mode NTSC for composite input

Somebody turned on to make this model of laptop video capture via composite video input with the new version of BIOS (version 3.90 win)?

Hey,

I am currently trying to connect my analogue camcorder to my computer.
I have the necessary cables and program, but I have doubt about the S-Video hole on my computer. It's a newish computer and the S-video hole (sorry about the word 'hole', but it's the only one that's come to mind at the moment) came with the computer (right next to were the monitor connects, so I'm assuming its part of the graphics card).
I'm also assuming that it is part of a video capture device (yer, I'm confused). I've tried connecting my camera with the aid of the software, but it doesn't detect a video capture device after I tell it I have connected all the wires and switched on the camera.

So does a S-Video hole mean that the computer has a video capture device, and if so, how can I know what type it is to download any extra drivers if needed? And is there such thing as an "on" button on one?

No documentation about it came with the computer which I find odd.

Please bear with me as this video lark is all new to me.

I recently got a Sony TRV245E camcorder and was wondering what the best format is when capturing images on the PC?
I seem to have the choice of AVI or MPEG-1.

The camera does this via USB but also has a 'DV out' connection, would this improve quality at all?

I did a test VCD and when I played it on my DVD player it looked horribly pixilated. I had to use NERO to do this as the Pixela ImageMixer software that came with the camera wouldn't recognise my CDRW drive.

Also as this camera has no 'DV in' is there a way of getting images back ot of the PC and onto VHS tape?

Hi prhutcho, and welcome to TSG.

Are you testing using the same S-Video cable and switching it between the capture unit and the TV? S-Video uses separate signal lines for the color information (Chrominance) and the brightness information (Luminance). You end up with a black white picture if the Chrominance line is broken in the cable.

There is one video you can get and that one you do need to provide an email etc to get as you probably can see.

Why not ask the owner whether you can have a copy of the video part you want to embed somewhere, like a blog. You WILL need permission is all I can advise.

A:Video capture.

I'd advise getting a hardware encoder, which means the card does all the hard work and your PC if free for you to use.LeadtekI've got this.HauppaugeFrom what I've read the Hauppauge cards have a macrovision decoder inbuilt, which means you shouldn't need a seperate box to remove macrovision. Just search for Provision Macrovision on google.co.ukPersonally I'd stay away from the cheap software encoders at about ?25-?40 and get a slightly more expensive hardware encoder.

hi, i have this new laptop with windows XP and have succesfully captured video through it's firewire conection from my camcorder using 'Windows movie maker'. I am unsure of the video capture capabilities of this laptop.
In hardware devices under computer properties it shows ..

'Legacy video capture devices'.. 'wdm video for windows capture driver (win32)'

Just want to know a little more about what this is and what other software is available to capture .avi files as the windows movie maker files i made wouldn't play in other players.

PC also has.Also has..

M7-P Radeon Integrated AGP 4 x
64MB external DDR Video
IEEE 1394 Firewire 400Mbps(for digital video)

So I recorded some video with this camcorder that doesn't have a computer cable. It just has one that goes into the TV. One of my friends said I would have to get a video capture card. I'm looking for some info on them, recommended brands, and some instruction.

Does the camcorder not include the cpu cable or does it not have a cable plug in?

I posted a few weeks ago about some problems with capturing video, with no luck. Basically, I took back the AVC-1100 and got the AVC-2210. My problem is that everything seems ok, however when I try to capture video all it does is capture a black screen with no audio. The preview is also always black. I tried it on a new VCR and TV with the same results. So, now that I tried 2 different VCRs, and two different video capturing hardware, it must be something in my computer. I wrote adaptec, and they weren't much help. They said it could be something with my video drivers, they had me do start->run->dxdiag go to display and then try and download drivers (which i could not do....i couldn't find anything and im not sure what im looking for. i have NVIDIA GeForce Ti 4200 with AGP8X). My computer is a HP Pavilion 775y, I have Windows XP as well. That's about all the info I can provide off the top of my head, if anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Ive got a GF4 MX440SE with an RCA video in port. Im trying to retrieve images from a Sony Digital Handycam for a project. Im Just wondering how this works? Im sure its video in because I tried it from the RCA to my TV with no results.. so Im guessing its video in. It has an S-video port too. I maybe being naieve about this but Im in a bit of a rush, Im on a deadline and what I thought was going to be easy isnt. What software do I need if any? Will I need to install cam drivers or should it just recieve the signal so long as I choose the right option? I could go USB but Im not sure of the availability of the USB lead for the camers, its a polytech version and all the cables have mysteriously gone missing..
Anyways.. any help greaty appreciated!

Hey, this is my first post here, and I'm not positive on whether or not this is the right place to be posting this, so if not, please tell me where it should be. Thanks!

Anyways, basically I have spent countless hours getting nowhere with this video capture thing. All I want to do is play my Nintendo Wii, and somehow get it recorded onto my computer into digital video. My computer is new with Windows Vista, is HP, and has many functions, some of which I don't even know what they do. But anyways, back to the main point.

Whenever I plug the Wii's AV cables into my computer, i get this message (on various capture programs such as DScaler, WMM, and Sony Vegas)

"The device 'Hauppauge WinTV 418 Video Capture' could not be opened. Please make sure that it is turned on and is not being used by another application or user."

What's really weird is that I have been able to play my Wii on the computer before, but one day, it just said that, and since then, no programs will take my AV things. Furthermore, I have tried connecting my VCR to the computer, and to no avail, I get the same message.

Does anyone know what is wrong??? I'm really confused, and this thing has been driving me up the wall.

Thanks for any help.

P.S. I don't have a digital camera or camcorder, so don't bother asking.

I chose the correct video Input, but it wouldnt me select anything for audio input other then the input plug on the back or a microphone, when there is an audio 2 right next to the video 2 that I plugged it into. Is there any other software I should try or is there a way to get the video/audio to work with the program I downloaded?

I am using a Dazzle instant DVD recorder and running an Acer Aspire 5100 notebook with a AMD Turion 2.0Ghz processer with ATI Radeon Xpress 1100....with windows XP.

When I try to capture video onto my hard drive, or even direct record to DVD the Video is in double time, like its in fast forward. And the audio plays in real time, so of course the audio is not in sync with the video and it's terrible. Any ideas?

I'm getting into more advanced stuff with Visual Basic 6 and I was wondering if there's some easy way to get data from a webcam (has WDM drivers, can be used from standard capture programs) to image-process with my code? I want to do color recognition and stuff like that. This would be really cool if I could get it to work, so please help!

A:Using a WDM video capture device in VB...can it be done?

Start the VB IDE. Hit Ctrl-T to bring up the Component List. Check that to see if there's anything relating to your camera. Additionally, if you know that the camera camera came with some proprietary DLL's or OCX's, then load those out and see if they contain a control that you could use; I'd check the installation directory for these, or use a system search.

If that doesn't turn up anything, but you do have some of those proprietary DLL/OCX's, then you may be in luck. We can cross that bridge if we get to it.

Answer Match 49.14%

I tried using the search feature but couldn't find a Windows Movie Maker question like mine.

WMM used to work fine on my PC with XP. Here's what happens now when I connect my camcorder to my PC via firewire:

WMM comes up and ...

I select "Best quality for playback on my computer"
I select "Capture parts of the tape manually" (and indicate "Don't show preview during capture")
I "Start Capture"
I "Stop Capture" at the desired ending point.
I select "Create clips when wizard finishes"
The last thing I do is select "Finish."
Then in the "Collection" box, instead of the clip appearing, I get one or two boxes with a red X. Then the Xs go away and I only have one or two short pieces of the clip I was trying to capture. I have been unable to capture the entire clip, as desired.

Maybe this is the culprit ... Yesterday I downloaded at "wmvtoaviconverter.net" to try to convert a WMV video to AVI. I also downloaded Aglare WMV to AVI converter through CNET. But those didn't work for a particular video that I was trying to convert, so I uninstalled them.

Could these downloads have messed up my WMM?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Jake

A:WMM - Won't capture entire video

There might be a buggy video codec which might be giving you problems.

If there is a video codec in WMM that you can manged delete the onces that was recently installed by date when you downloaded the converters.

I just bought a Dazzle DVC 150 and I need a program to capture the video with. I used to use Windows Movie Maker with my Dazzle DVC 80, but the 150 captures in MPEG2's, so WMM won't work. The program it came with (Pinnacle Studio 9) is the worst program I've ever used in my life (it captures choppy video and hangs whenever I hit the capture tab, forcing me to restart my computer). I figured Sony Vegas 6 would let me do it since it's such an expensive program, but apparently it will only capture from a video camera, whereas I am capturing from a television. So, if anyone could recommend a free program that I can use, I would really appreciate it.

I'm on a Toshiba Satellite P25-S507 running XP home SP2.
I have updated DirectX to 9.0c and BIOS to the latest version (1.8 I think).
I'm trying to install the "Turtle Beach Video Advantage USB Video Capture Device". But each time I get to the end of the installation process I get the message "this device cannot start, error 10".
The Turtle Beach folk say the problem may be an old driver from a previous capture device that hasn't been fully uninstalled.
I did have an Adaptec capture device installed. I have uninstalled every program related to it and have run a search on each of the programs and have deleted all references. I've also gone into the registry and deleted all references. I've also uninstalled and deleted all references to another video editing program I had.

I've gone through each of these, and other, processes multiple times. Same result.

I'm going not so slowly out of my mind and if you can provide the solution I will send you some blue ribbon award-winning spaghetti sauce if you like.

Hi all,
I recently started to experiment with some video capture software (virtualdub, its a free d/l). I also just purchased an 80gig 7200rpm eide drive to capture video on. Everything works fine . But when I'm tring to cap long files, (Ex. a movie from a VHS tape) I find I have a problem with many frames being dropped. This causes a synchronization error between audio and video when played back as an mpeg2 file. My question is, If i were to setup my motherboard (abit kx7333r)using its raid function, and since the data transfer rate will be doubled,Will I be able to capture video with much less or no frame loss at all ? Also so you know, The capture settings I'm using are 640x480. The smaller settings (320x 2somthing) dont look as good when compressed.
Thanx for you help,

I have been trying to capture video with my ASUS V3800 TNT2 card.

Unfortunatly, I have not had much succes at it.
I have just downloaded the Detonater 3 drivers, but I doubt that will help much. The problem is this:
I do get an image when I try to capture with either the ASUSLive program that came with the card or Adobe Premiere 5.1 - the only problem is that the image appears distorted. I assume this is because I have not selected the right video format (NTSC, PAL etc.) The only problem is that neither of the formats seem to fix the problem.
I was wondering if there was any way I could be able to use other formats?

I live in Denmark, and own a Phillips VCR - I think the output signal is PAL-60, but I am not sure. Is there any way to find out?

Complete novice, just bought a 2nd hand Sony Mini DV ( TRV10E ). Would like to buy a video capture card that will work this DV camera. Any recomendation on what card and software is good and what interface / interface cables are needed, what is the recomended minimum spec for the PC. Card must support the PAL system, based in South Africa.
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

A:Video capture card

Ifin it's mini DV you don't need a capture device, you need a firewire card. 100% better than an analog capture device since it's a true digital transfer. With the right software, you can control your camera's transport with your mouse. I'm a huge fan of Ulead products. Video Studio is about $100.00, easy to use, and will fill all the needs of an average user including DVD construction. I don't know of a particular firewire PCI card to recommend. By the time I crossed this bridge, I had a mobo that had firewire built in.

Not sure if this will help or not but Microsoft from the link below suggests from troubleshooting to disable the Media Center Receiver service when you get that error:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In the Open box, type services.msc to open the Services console.

3. Click the Media Center Receiver Service.

4. On the Action menu, click Properties.

5. On the General tab, click Startup type, choose Disabled, and then click OK.

Hey guys,

I am trying to hook my VCR to my computer to record some VHS video to digital. I have hooked up my vcr to my pc like instructed and I cannot get my computer to recognize it. Heres what I've done:

Hook the video out (on the VCR) from a composite video connector to a s-video adapter into my ATI Radeon 9800XT. I then ensure the VCR is on and then turn my PC on. According to the manual that is all I need to do, however when I open windows movie maker or adobe premier when I look for the video capture device it says <none>.

Do I have to hook the VCR to a TV to get this to work? Or can I just hook the vcr up and use my original monitor to do the work? I need some advice please!

1G of 3200 Corsair RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 XT 256 Video
Sound Blaster Platinum 5.1

basically it looks like the 9.0 only works on newer 2.0 usb, has a better resolution and supports more outputs. None of this hsould matter when it comes ot the actual capture of footage (except for the resolution).

I'm looking for a little advice about video input cards. I need one for under $50 dollars to capture home movies from VHS and then burn to DVD. At the present time I'm using a Dazzle* DVC 80 USB interface and the software I'm using is Roxio DVD builder. However the output video quailty is nowhere as good as the original VHS tape.
I think this is due to the slow USB interface even though I'm recording in MPEG2 format. The truth of the matter is, I don't know much about video capture. For example is MPEG 4 better then MPEG 2 . All I want is for the output video quailty to be at least as good as the original VHS.
I have been looking at a card from CTX industries (CTX DVD Studio Xtra Model MD001) but before buying, I thought someone here might have a little advice.

Thanks

Look for devices that show "Yes" it in the Connected column. If several devices are plugged in, you can use the Last Plug/Unplug Date column to narrow it down. If it shows there but your webcam software doesn't recognize it, then what is shown for Description, VendorID and ProductID?

Hi, my question is concerning the software PCTV to go. I recently bought a new toshiba satellite laptop running windows vista. I installed the PCTV to go software and it worked for several days. Then a few days later while I was running the program, the computer just died. I re-booted, had difficulty opening the PCTV to go program a few times, ended up uninstalling it and re-installing it several times. Now when I double click on the icon, it acts like it's about to run, but no window ever opens.

When I look at Windows task manager, it says that program is running and using up a lot of resources, but there is no window anywhere. PCTV to go still works fine on my older computer (or at least as well as it ever did, which isn't great).

Is there a conflict with windows vista? Is there a corrupted file somewhere (again, I have uninstalled and reinstalled at least 4 times). Please help. Thank you.

Anyone know of a way to record basically what you see on your monitor - software wise? I've been able to record by doing video out to another computer or VCR, but the quality sucks and it's a hassle. I'm wanting to record game footage when playing games online. Any help?

Your video card should have come with suitable software?

I use InterVideo Wincoder, which came bundled with the PC (CDs were supplied, not loaded)

Also look for the Windows NVidia WDM driver for your video card off the makers site, it should allow access to the default video capture abilities under XP.

Otherwise your intended method is fine.

I would like to try to use a "streaming video capture" program and get some videos I see online. If anyone can recommend a good, simple, easy to use free program that I can download, I sure would appreciate it.

I made the wrong assumption that my Windows 7, HP Pavilion 06210t had the capability of taking analog camcorder tapes and making DVD copies on the computer. Only to find out I need a Video Capture Card to accomplish this. The HP technician that told me this was not specific on how it worked, or where it would be plugged into. So instead of just buying it I would like to understand a bit about this. Money gets a little tight at times. Who would be my best supplier?

Hello everyone

There's a website in my country that I want to capture the video in it in real-time:
http://mymoney.nana10.co.il/Article/?ArticleId=629767&sid=130

Since I can't find the real path to the video, I can't use SDP downloader to fetch it.
I was thinking about a software like screen capture, only that it captures videos and turns them into AVI/WMV files.

Anyone is familiar with such software?

Thanks!
Lasash

A:Video Capture (NOT from YouTube)

I don't know about any specific software but I have, in the past, been able to locate downloaded videos in the cache of my Opera browser and right click the cached entry to 'Save' it. That has produced a 'flv' file which I can play with the VLC Media player.

I only found out about this by accident and I have no idea if it works with other browsers. Nor am I aware of any copyright/legal issues in saving material already stored by the normal operation of my browser, particularly as I don't attempt to upload or otherwise distribute the material.

Hello,

Currently we have a Radeon ATI X300SE PCIE video card which has no video-in so we can not convert our analogue VCR/Cam video footage to VCD, but we would like to.
What would be the best approach? ie buy a video capture card, TV tuner or upgrade our video card to one which can capture video (I dont really like the X300 anyway).
Dont want to spend a lot of money here. Any ideas fellows? ie any recommended brands?

A:Solved: How to Capture Video

A video capture card is the ticket. Most video cards don't support video capture, that's a totally separate operation. I have the Adaptec VideoOh! USB 2.0 video capture module, but there are cheaper alternatives. You can either buy an internal card, or one of the many video capture devices that connect to the USB. A TV tuner isn't what you want, unless it also takes in video.
