I just wanted to know how I can tile this image seamlessly. Is there some type of free software that would do it for me?

When I attempt to 'split' my screen by right clicking the Task Bar, the three menu items "Cascade Windows," "Tile Windows Horizonatally," and "Tile Windows Vertically" are 'grayed out." I understand that it is the two latter items that I need to 'split' the screen. Why are they not available to me? How do I overcome the problem?

Many thanks, [redoak}

You could try this:

To use the VBS Files: Download .vbs file and save it to your hard drive (you may want to right click and use Save Target As). Double
click the vbs file. You will be prompted when the script is done.

I have a bit of a stupid question for you all, mum's laptop (a ~4 year old HP Pavilion DV6614TX) is on the fritz; when watching stock market videos or playing graphic-intensive games (like DX-ball) the computer freezes, graphics get pixely & it eventually crashes. It's BSODd once, but by the time I got there to see it close up to read the error code it restarted, most of the time it just outright crashes sans-BSOD. It's also tiling the display occasionally when these lock-ups occur, or on start-up after a lock-up, it basically repeats the display 6 times tiled on the monitor.... i don't really know how to describe that succinctly, so I hope it makes sense to you.

SO I'm thinking it could be one of 3 things, RAM, Graphics card / graphics card memory, or just plain ol' overheating.

I've pulled the laptop apart & took to its fan with the hand vac for lack of an air compressor, but it's still starting up with the display tiled.. in fact, I can't seem to get it to start up without the display tiled at all now. I just got a brand spankin' new notebook and am very happy with the wireless connection. However, there are times when I have my notebook plugged in and want to go wireless. I was just wondering if anyone knows a way to do this without being disconnected from everything I'm working on?

I've got an Inspiron 5150, running Windows XP Pro.

I have two wireless routers set up in my home running on different SSIDs. How do i configure the network connections so that it automatically connects to the one with the strongest signal (which depends on where I'm using the laptop)?? When i use the same ssid on both routers it doesn't seem to siwtch to strongest signal. One other bit of info -- one access point is 2.4ghz wireless G the other is a dual band (2.4 and 5ghz) wireless N.

A:Seamlessly Switch to best Network Connection

That's the difference between consumer-grade wifi equipment and the premium stuff which costs big bikkies. The latter can seamlessly "roam" when a user moves through an office building with her laptop, always establishing an association between the wireless NIC and the WAP with the currently strongest signal.

What you want is probably impractical unless your wifi NIC drivers export "accessor" functions which would allow your code to poll for or subscribe to events corresponding to significant signal strength changes. Then you'd have to code the solution yourself (unless the NIC manufacturer already provides a utility or sample code), and that would be far from a trivial exercise.

I want to swap out my promise parallel raid card for a silicon image raid card without having to reload my OS.

Is there a seamless way to load the new silicon image raid driver into WinXP, then swap the card itself and boot back up??
Any help is appreciated!

A:How do I seamlessly swap a raid card?

Seamless? Probably not.

Here's something that will probably work, but it's not seamless. Install the Silicon Image raid drivers on the current setup. Do an Image backup with something like Acronis True Image or Norton GHOST to a non-RAID drive. Install the new RAID controller, restore the image back to the new RAID array, and boot up.

I've installed a couple of RAID systems by first installing the O/S onto a non-RAID drive, then GHOSTing it to the RAID array after the fact. Worked just fine...

Right, so. My sis got a computer a couple of days ago. We're both very new to vista, but I'm a bit more of a comp wonk, so when it started to bug up a little, I thought I'd play around with it to get a handle on the system.

I'm having a bit of trouble getting a handle on the system. It's not my computer, so I can't tell you every spec right now, and I don't even have access to it at the moment. So this thread is, for now, a bit of a hail-mary pass. If the problem is recognizable enough to diagnose from my scant details, awesome. If not, I'll post them as I discern them.

That being said, the problem is this; as far as my tests have led me to believe, in full screen games only, my sound lags. Usually during cut-scenes, but sometimes during gameplay itself. But the thing is, it's strangely seamless. There's no crackle or distortion. A slight pause, and then the sound cuts off while the video goes on. After about 7-12 seconds, the sound comes back right where it left off, only now the video is obviously out of sync with it.

It's a 32 bit os, multicore processor, 4 gigs ram, Nvidia 7600 GT card. Every driver is up to date unless I made a mistake with the updating processes, and the audio chipset is the intel soundmax hd audio(I couldn't find any drivers for this chipset, so it's probably running at out of box drivers. The auto update told me they were up to date, but I've never trusted that thing, sooo.)

Thanks for reading if you've made it down this far. Ordinar... Read more

A:My audio is lagging seamlessly in fullscreen games

You should uninstall the audio drivers and then google them for the latest, Microsoft won't always detect the latest drivers. Also check your event log when you get a chance and see if it mentions anything about driver performance. You can also check this in the performance panel of the Contreol Panel.

Any script would do, I can put the users that need it into another group and have that group have its own logon script or just run it locally upon startup. We are running XP workstations on a Windows domain network.

You need it to run as Domain Admin or as a Local Admin. Domain Admin would probably be really bad policy.

Whenever I swipe in from the left of the screen in Windows 8.1, the programs I have open - usually only Outlook and Chrome - sit side-by-side, each taking up half of the screen.

That's ok, but when I close one of them by dragging the divider to the right or just closing it normally, the remaining program does not resize to its previous setting and stays at the split screen 50% size.

Is there any way around this, as it's very annoying.

I've been using Quark Express for many years, but have never needed to use the 'tiling' option to output a massive poster, tiled into printable panels, but I do now and am struggling with exactly how to do it. The help files aren't particuarly helpful, if someone could give me a detailed description of how to go about it I'd be very grateful.

I want to output a massive-sized poster; 4.756m x 2.523m, but my poster printer will only print out in A0-sized panels. The large dimension is simply 12 x A0 4 x 3 panels, landscape.

Quark won't allow me to set the dimensions of my document to the larger size, so what document & print option sizes do I need to set to get it to output this in 12x A0 panels?

I'm using version 4.1 of Quark Express, on Win2k platform, printing to an HPDesignJet 5550 inkjet plotter.

Any help v.much appreciated.

I have been using Word 2000 on my XP computer and just got my brother-in-law's Vista computer. I copied my word files over to a folder on the Vista computer and when I open up word documents, the document pages are tiling instead of simply showing one after another.  In other words, I'm seeing 4 pages on one screen instead of a vertical listing of pages, one below the next that I can scroll to view.  In short, if I go to page 9, page 10 appears to the right instead of below page 9. then page 11 appears directly below page 9.

All I want is for the pages to align vertically and numerically like they always have--one page to a screen that I can scroll to the next on vertically.. I can't seem to find a way to do this from the Word 2007 menus.

A:Word 2007 is tiling by default

Kind of sounds like a combination of the zoom level and viewing mode.It sounds like you are in Print Layout view mode and maybe at a zoom level on a big monitor that allows more than one page to be viewed. Print Layout will show you a WYSIWYG (or what I call WYSINNWYG…i.e. What You See Is Not Necessarily What You Get) version of the document that kind of shows each page. There should be a View tab on the Ribbon (the new way of doing things since Microsoft got ride of menus). If you click on it, then the first section will list the various view modes and the third section will allow you to adjust the zoom settings. If you want the good old "every things is mushed together, continuous scrolling" mode, then select Draft. That is what you are likely used to seeing. If you want to keep it in the Print Layout to see individual pages, then you could just zoom in some…how much will depend on the monitor size and screen resolution. For my 24" monitor running at 1920x1200, I tend to zoom in at 150% or maybe even 200% if I want the page to "fill" the full width of the screen. To zoom, you can click on the magnifiying glass icon/button which will give you a Zoom dialog box where you can pick the zoom level or use one of the preset buttons (i.e. One Page, Two Pages, Page Width, 100%).

Having problems...orignally the gutter on the tiling box (illustrator 10) was an even 1/4" or so all the way around. Our company got new computers so the tech's reinstalled the printer drivers and now the tiling boxes are no longer uniform. I'm not sure of the exact dimensions...something like 1/8th by 1/2" by 1/4" by 1/4". This is form an 8.5 x 11" sheet. I have the same problem for all other sizes of paper. Hi, I recently switched from an old eMac to a new Dell Inspiron 537S running 64-bit Windows 7 and I have been searching for a way to replicate the F10 shortcut on the mac.

On a mac, F10 will tile all open windows within an open application. I used this constantly in Photoshop to cycle through images, compare exposures, etc. Seems like there are a lot of cool ways to cycle through open windows in Windows 7 but I haven't figured out a way to cycle through open windows/files within an application.... Ctrl-Tab works well for straight cycling but I'd prefer a function that allowed me to see all open files/images at one time...

Thanks very much in advance for any tips or suggestions....

The error message box reads something like this:

Program ~ "insert program name here" has caused a problem and needs to close. Would you like to save a copy of the dump file? The error box message then automatically keeps overlapping itself with a copy of the same message box multiple times (as many as 40) until the program finally shuts down. The only option in the box is to click "okay" or to save the dump file...or to close out the box with the "x". Any click terminates the program. I've tried numerous times to re-start the program or re-boot the computer to no avail.

I had this first show up with Microsoft Outlook and then later with another non-Microsoft program. I didn't use Outlook for several days and the problem "went away" on it's own. But a few days later it showed up on another unrelated program. I didn't use that program for several days and the error message dissappeared as well! I've downloaded all the latest virus updates from Norton and ran a complete scan a couple of times, but nothing was found. I also made sure my Spy Bot was up to date and did a scan to find problems...again none was found. Any ideas what could be causing this!? I'm afraid what ever it is, it is still lurking there somewhere waiting to attack another (or same) program.

Hello and Welcome to TSF

Run the System File Checker to see if you have any missing/corrupt files

Go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow ( sfc if not reconized)

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem. You will need your Windows cd.

You may also want to do an online virus scan with one of these. I found that Norton will not catch everything.

Scan your pc with 2 of these free online scanners:
Panda ActiveScan
RAV AntiVirus
Housecall Be sure to put a check the box beside AutoClean

Reinstalling the program effected may also help.

So, this is one that I have never seen before, I am hoping someone can help me out.

My colleague is running winxp on a dell latitude. She often has a number of programs open - word, excel, IE, acrobat, outlook, windows explorer folders, and skype are most common - in varying combinations. Seemingly randomly, whatever she is working on will minimize and the entire screen will be filled with what I can only refer to as a "snapshot" of all open programs, laid out gridlike across the screen, not overlapping each other. (I am sure most are familiar with the little popup "preview" from the task bar in Vista - it sort of looks like that, but all across the screen.) As soon as you touch a key, it disappears and everything goes back to normal. I tried to take a screenshot, but that just reset it, and didn't take the shot. Apparently, this has been happening for a while, but very infrequently. However, today it is happening about every five minutes.

Any ideas?

A:Windows Explorer (XP) does a weird random tiling of all open programs

First, if she is using IE7, does she have tabs set up? I know there is an add-on for Firefox that does exactly what you describe> gives a 'tiled type' view of all the tabs when I click on the function. (It is called 'Showcase" and requires only that I click on the small arrow point on the right of the tabs. Clicking on any one tab restores the normal view)

Second, has the person done a right click> undo tile on the Taskbar?

I have Corel Photo House and Photoshop 4 photo editing software. I don't really use them a lot, and admit that I'm not very good at doing most things. One thing I've had occasion to do lately is to take a person from one image and copy it to a second image. The problem is that it takes a really steady hand, and patience, to trace around the outline of what I want to copy. I try to facilitate this by slowing my cursor to crawl speed, but I still have trouble accurately following the subject's outline.

Is there software -- preferably freeware -- that has an easy way of transposing/copying portions of an image?

I have been going through the posts and found what I thought would work. Problem is that I am lost as to the solution. I have been getting an error message about a bad image.

PROGRA~1\GOOGLE~1\GOEC62~1\.DLL is not designed to run on windows or has an error. Reinstall or contact the system administrator.

I am not sure if this is completely correct as to get on line I have to OK each screen that comes up with this error. I get screen after screen until it seems to run out. I have learned that when this happens I restore my system. It is a pain. Once I have the system up and running it will reappear if I try to open a program.

Reading through this site I see many references to "making" or "burning" an image. Similar inquiries relate to ISO and occassonally Image and ISO appear in the same thread. Are Image and ISO refering to the same thing? Which ISO requirement is being referenced? Something like ISO 9660, preparing a cd to be recognized by a PC?

What is an Image? how is it used?
Image files on the Mac are exact copies of original data files and are essentially "virtual" volumes which can be accessed like floppies, cd or even hard disks. They can be double clicked and open a directory of contents for use.

Pardon me while I try to learn the language syntax and grammer of the PC platform. I am grounded in Macintosh terminology, but both platforms must provide similar services or they could not function as computers. The developers, programmers and users of each platform speak their own language to mean the same thing. I'm just learning a secod language.

tks

I hope I am at the right forum not exactly sure what this problem is classified with primarily. I am new to this site but here goes, this is my mom's computer and I am not entirely sure what was done to get the problems I am at now. What is happening is when i log on a bad image pop up appears and it list the dll that i guess its trying to use and it says that c:windows/system32/kbdnot.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or software vendor for support. I also was asked by my mom to ask when she runs facebook and tries to go to the app Farmville it won't load and a popup occurs that asks if you wanna run scripts and when you click ok it just keeps popping up and never loads . Not sure if that is something that the techs mess with but just wanted to see. I have tried to study up to see if this was just a virus or a registry problem. I downloaded superantispyware because I have had great success with it on my computer. i appreciate your help I am kinda at a lose and don't want to start downloading a bunch of programs and they do nothing..thanks

Hey guys n gals,
A lot of sites now have a little icon next to their URL, it shows up in the address bar and next to their name in your favorites.
When I "clean" my computer ie clear all the temp internet files etc they disappear. Now thats fine because where ever these images are stored obviously gets cleared as well.
But what I want to know is why now none of them seem to come back?
Is there a setting somewhere thats keeps them/allows them?
Any clues would be cool!

I have an old XP backup from before I upgraded to Windows 7. I have the whole drive so I can create an image from it if I need to. I read that it was possible, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

Since I recently upgraded my system to 16GB of RAM, I think I have the space to revive my old XP install within my current system.

What I want to do is:

1.) Create image (I have Paragon and Acronis, but I'm not sure of their limitations or capability to do this)

2.) Boot correct VMware software (I have VMware Player)

3.) Somehow create image to the new Virtual Machine

Does anyone know how to do this the right way, or what VMware version I need?

Hi,

Recently when I install or try to update programs I've been getting errors relating to Windows installer, particularly "Msiexec.exe Bad image" error and internal program errors when updating saying "Windows installer service could not be accessed". I'm not sure of the exact time when it began happening but it would of been possibly a month ago.

I've tried various fixes I've found online but nothing seems to fix it. Also, my msi.dll file in system32 contains 0kb.

I've also tried doing windows repair and non-destructive windows installs but due to it being a windows installer problem I can't actually do the install.

Any information regarding this problem would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks

A:[SOLVED] Bad Image Checksum

This one is easy.

wow32.dll looks like it's a native XP system file. All you need to do is replace the bad version with a good one. Here's a thread that tells how one User did it. Looks like it's even got a copy of wow32.dll available for download.

All you need to do is make sure you've got the right version, and copy it to the correct folder.

Ok, so heres whats wrong:
I have recently installed norton internet security 2005 as well as the firefox browser, but im not sure whether or not they are causing the problems.
When i open up internet explorer or firefox and navigate to www.cnet.com, The images and frames do not load. This is the only website (that i know of) that is completely affected, however many have a few images that fail. Anyway, i get the classic broken link icon, and when i try to view the images in a seperate window, firefox tells me "The connection was refused when trying to access i.i.com.com", and internet explorer gives me the "page cannot be displayed." I am confused because i have searched through all the options in Norton, including adblock and firewalls, that would affect this, and I even tried completely disabling the security, but it still does not work. I know that its not the site because everyone else can access it fine. Any help would be great, thanks.

Hello, I hope I'm in the right section here. I know a lot of people like to install their OS and program files on SSDs and all other junk...pictures, music, etc. on a large HDD. Given the cost of SSD that is pretty much what I want to do now.

I have an image (using Acronis) of my current system that I want to be able to use. I would like to place the OS, bootloader, and core system files on my 120Gb SSD and pretty much user profiles on the 1TB HDD.

I am currently using 301Gb of my hard drive. My current user profile accounts for about 225Gb of space on the drive and the rest of the space used up by Windows is about 75Gb. I'm not sure how to go about imaging the new SSD when it is only 120Gb in size. Perhaps Acronis has a feature that allows for easy migration into 2 or more different drives? I'm not too familiar with Acronis other than basic backup and image.

Is there a way to make a mirror image of a pdf? I've also seen it called "flipping."

I looked around in Adobe Reader and Foxit but didn't see a "mirror" option.

Thanks.

A:Solved: mirror image of pdf

I believe you can only do this in the full version of Adobe Acrobat instead of just the reader. You would essentially need to print each page separate using the PDF printer after changing the print property to "mirror"

If this is a one-time thing I'd be happy to convert the file for you. Just send me a private message and I can send you my email address.

You might also be able to accomplish this in Photoshop if you have it installed.

Your monitor should have some buttons on the front with which you can adjust teh screen size.

Alternatively, you can right click your desktop and select Properties. In the window that loads click the Settings tab and then move that slide bar further to the left and hit 'apply'. It should resize your screen and hopefully it will fit.

After I finished watching a movie (everything was perfectly fine) I shut down my laptop.
I forgot to sinc my ipod so I turned it on again, I came to the desktop and I get a bad image error..
I also get it when I start any program or download something.
example:
excel.exe - bad image
C:\Windows\System32\d3dxof32.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

It gives the same error in 20 different dll files.
I looked the problem up and I thought I found a solution. A guy says:
I would suggest that the main file was probably malware and has been deleted but the startup still exists. Start > Run. In the box type "msconfig" without the quotes. Open the startup tab - scroll down the list and untick anything that relates to your problem. Click apply, click ok. Reboot your computer. On the reboot you will be presented with a window saying that the configuration has changed. Tick the box that says do not show again.

I did that and it was ok but than it started doing it with other programs too.
I scanned with anti malware and panda cloud and it found trojans. It deleted them but I still get the error messages.
I also found that people say that the dll files that I get an error from are threats or trojans..

Hi, welcome to TSF

If you've got any google software installed (Toolbars, Earth, Desktop, etc), uninstall them all and reboot. Download the latest versions and install them one at a time, rebooting after each one. If the problem returns, the last google program that you installed is the most likely cause.

Is it possible to make an image of a hdd using acronis for example and make it bootable on another hdd of a different size and or partitions?.

A:Solved: Hdd image question

Yes , there will be an option to choose weather the partition you are restoring is to be Active or not, active makes it a bootable partition, this will be given during the restore image process using Acronis.

Size does not matter as long as there is enough room for the data. so you can theoretically move to a smaller partition.

No problem moving to larger partitions.

I have a dll error that has been eluding me for awhile now. I got this person's PC today, and they have been getting the following error message "Could not find C:\Windows\image.dll"

This error was coming up twice, but I was able to use msconfig to remove it once, but not twice. Here's what I have tried
1. Tried to find the correct dll online, but I keep finding a Nero Burning software driver, and Windows won't accept that.
2. Went into the registry under and found an entry and removed that, and still no luck.'
3. Updated my NVidia drivers.
4. Spent hours trying to find something useful to remove it

Anyhow, I am not sure what to do at this point. I went into msconfig and set it to not load anything but boot.ini, and the error still came up. I wonder if there is a registry key still triggering this error.

Any input it greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Don't know for sure but it could be malware. I suggest you run an online scan such as Kaspersky or Trend Micro House Call.

I googled this problem and found my way here.

"Everytime I open a program I get a bad image error for that program and for every program it opens I get the following message, the program opens fine after I click ok......

The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\w8c6s4xcm66s.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installtion diskette.

Any one know why I keep getting this? "

This is almost exactly the problem I get. Only by the time I log on I have to click through a dozen or more of the .exe-bad image messages to get anywhere. Anytime I open a new program I get the message of .exe for what ever program it is. But I am able to get onto that program.

Additionally when I first get on to windows behind the .exe bad image msgs JASC (picture program that came with my dell ... 3 years old?) keeps trying to install. I have to click on cancel about 5 times to get it to go away

I have Ad-aware free version, spybot free version, AVG free version, wisefixer (not sure it this was worth it).

all my spyware/virus detection is up to date.

What is wisefixer is that a registry cleaner?
Also your system may be infected with the WIN32-Krepper.C [trj] and then Win32-Krepper.J2 [trj]. I know you scanned your system for virus but it's the 1% that get through.
I would go to the link in my signature Virus, spyware, adware help post a HJT log.
Also go to command prompt

try in SFC /SCANNOW.

When you reinstall your Linux boot onto the drive, it will format it anyways.

I used acronis true image 2009 home and made an image of my OS and placed it on an external usb HD. If for some reason I had to delete my internal HD so there was no OS on it would I be able to use the image to restore my system to what is was previously or would I need to re-install the OS first and then use the image to restore things the way the were before?

Please let me know.

thx

My main desktop PC runs ME (which I like very much) and when I open My Documents, My Pictures (or ANY image folder) I have chosen to have the files listed as 'Details', not thumbnails; when I highlight a file name a larger-than-thumbnail image is shown on the bottom left of the Explorer window, and when I click on a name a full image appears under Image Preview. All as it should be.
I am trying to do the same in my new laptop PC running XP Home but all I see are the file names and no larger-than-thumbnail image when I highlight a file name. If I click on the name a full image appears under the heading Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.
But I would really like to know how to see a small image when I highlight a file name in 'Details' mode.

Upon logging in, a pop up error says:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MyWebSearch\bar\2.bin\f3hkstub.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

This re-appears randomly when using the computer.

I tried uninstalling "My Web Search" and got this error:

Error loading C:\PROGRA~2\MYWEBS~1\bar\2.bin\mwsbar.dll
CROGRA~2\MYWEBS~1\bar\2.bin\mwsbar.dll is not a valid Win32 application

Now what?!

Thanks!
