Can't Connect Sony Mini DV

Q: Can't Connect Sony Mini DV

I've just switched to a different computer and am having trouble connecting my mini dv cam. It's a Samsung SC D382. I've attached my firewire cord and have made all attempts to have the computer recognize it, but still nothing. The computer is an HP Compaq DC7100C. Is there something that I need in addition to the cord? There isn't any software that comes with this cam. I've been trying for over 6 hours, please help. Thanks.

Make sure you have the latest wireless driver. For an integrated adapter get the driver from Sony's web site.

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. And show for an attempted wireless connection and then for the ethernet + wireless ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following commands

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

I am recording my daughter's basketball games with a SONY HANDYCAM, DCR-DVD92 NTSC. I recently used a 2.8 two sided SONY HANDYCAM DVD-R disk. I recorded one game on the first side, finalized it, and then recorded the next game on the second side and finalized it. I can play the first side, but the back side has a reading error problem. It won't play in any of my dvd players. Is there a way to fix the second side with the handycam so it can be read by the dvd players?

whenever i use open Mg to try and "check out" my songs into my md player, it never used to work every once in a while, and now it has stopped working all together. it gets up to a 40% export...and then it stops and says "failed to write data to external device/media". so, i thought it was because of a bad disc or so...and so i used a new one to test it...but no such luck....i then proceeded to uninstall and reinstall the program. STILL no luck....if anyone has any ideas/suggestions as to how to fix this horrid problem...please do! it will be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to connect a Sony VAIO PCG-GRT100 laptop computer to my network with a mini-PCI Intel 2100 3A 'b' card.

I used to have a Linksys PCMCIA wireless card - and it worked perfectly, but I didn't like having a big thing sticking out of the side. So - I got a mini-PCI card out of a Dell laptop (that I upgraded from just 'b' to a 2200 'b' and 'g' card), and thought I would put it into the Sony.

I installed the drivers, slotted in the card, connected the AUX and MAIN antennae, booted up - the computer recognised the card just fine - shows up in the control panel, and SYSTEM folder, etc.

BUT - when I search for networks I get nothing - "No wireless networks found". The laptop is sitting 4 feet from the router (a Netgear WGR614 by the way), and my other laptop 'see' about 8 network access points normally (I'm in a block of apartments / flats).

So - it appears the 'hardware switch' is turned off on the adaptor. Windows Control Panel / HW can't turn it on - but since this isn't a Centrino laptop - there's no button or switch to turn it on.

WHat can I do - the mini-PCI card is covered in plastic - is there a manual switch I can throw if I strip it off?

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Hi everyone
Im hoping to get a little help with the problem Im having.
Up until just recently windows has not been recognizing my video camera and I cant figure it out. It was working fine a couple of weeks ago and now I cant even get the computer to recognize it, I have it connected via usb as I always have done, I have a memory card in the camera so I just use to tansfer my pictures to my computer etc, no problems. Ive done evrything I know of to fix this, I thought maybe I downloaded a program or something that conflicted with the camera within the last 2 weeks so I even did a format and reinstalled windows. First I installed the sony usb driver from the cd, which it tells me to do first, then I plug the camera in and instead of getting "New hardware found" like it normally would, I get absolutely nothing, no activity at all, nothing in device manager, no exclamation marks, my dsl modem works fine and it is connected via usb, all I can think of is the sony usb cord that came with the camera has somehow died, I have 2 and neither of them work anymore.
In device manager down the bottom I have "Universal serial bus controller" when I expand that I have "ALi PCi to USB Open Host controller" and "Usb Root Hub"
All seems fine to me... so I cant think of anything else other than the usb cord is buggered. I am running windows 98, I dont have the opportunity at the moment to check the camera on another computer. I was just wondering if there ... Read more

A:Windows wont recognize my Sony Mini DV handycam anymore.

Ok, I tested the camera on another computer and nothing. Didnt recognize it, So now Im lead to believe its either the cable or the cameras usb port. Is it common for usb cables to just suddenly die?
Also the usb port on the camera looks a little funny, Im not sure if it was already like that but the pins inside seem to be slightly pointed upward, are they supposed to be completely horizontal? Its hard to explain what it looks like through text, if I could get another picture or something of a video camera usb port to compare it too that would make things easier....ahhh! Im stuck.

Windows XP (Something but I think Pro)

I am so embarrased for asking as I am A+ Certified for a few years ago with not one but two different A+ manuals sitting around, please help.

My question is - My girlfriend brought over her HP Mini 1000 laptop and asked nicely for me to fix her networking problem and after mocking her silently to myself for getting it I sat down and attempted to help her. Her problem is that with this laptop she can no longer connect to any network or even see how as the icon at the taskbar for connecting to a wireless network is now gone and doesn't appear.

As wireless networking is a completely new field to me but I have a little bit of experience, I am no means an expert. I do not know of any way to restore her network connection or even show her a way to connect to a network via a wireless connection.

Following the various things I have read online as well as here, I can answer the following questions.

1. All Hardware is Enabled without problems, I viewed the Device Manager and a network adapter is listed.

The Network Adapter is
Broadcom 802.1 b/g wlan

2. I did the IPCONFIG in CMD and it comes up with nothing. I have done this several times while configuring my WIRED network at home so I understand how it works and I should see stuff like an MEDIA STATE or CONNECTION-SPECIFIC DNS SUFFIX but on h... Read more

Hello all!
My friend got a HP Mini 210 from Verizon, I believe a few years ago. It has a sim slot, but there isn't a sim card in it. I don't know if she took it out, or if she never needed one.
It is an HP Mini 210 running Windows 7 Starter.
Apparently she isn't using Verizon anymore, as she recently bought a T-Mobile hot spot instead. She can't get it to connect to the T-Mobile hot spot wifi, and I brought it home, and can't get it to connect to my home wifi either. Well actually it says "Connected" but "No Internet Access." Internet is fine and working well, so that is not the problem.
The Verizon connection is under Dial up and VPN(I think it is broadband), do I need to remove this connection to get the wifi to connect properly? It is not connected to the Verizon connection though. Is it possible that this laptop is "locked" to Verizon the way cell phones are?
The Troubleshooter says "Windows can't communicate with the device or resource. (primary DNS server)
This isn't my computer, so I am hesitant to do anything that I am not sure about. Any help would be awesome!

A:HP Mini from Verizon won't connect to wifi

They probably set a Proxy in the unit, either in Internet Explorer, or in the Registry.  Yes, delete the Verizon connection in Internet Options, in the Connections tab.  Check for a proxy in that same tab.

HP mini only supports B and G but not N (I know I have one) are you using Win 7 or XP? Anyways, try this, remove all your wireless networks (advance wireless settings on XP or network and sharing center on win 7 or 8) then do a new scan and retry to connect to the new found router (if you can't connect) please verify the wireless setting in the router, please make sure the Network name is correct, you have the right wireless key, and that you router supports B and G, you may have to connect a Ethernet wire between the pc and the router and access the router by the gateway ip address to verify these settings.... If you don't know how to check this, then please ask
if this is not the case, you might be connecting to an open wireless network that might be far away and is appearing as unidentified
please verify all this and let me know

I'm having the same problem as another user Baduga whose thread is copied below. I did download the driver version for the Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN device which was released February 03, 2010. However, when I try to connect to a secured wireless network it seems to see the router, but just spins and spins with the message "acquiring network address" and it never actually connects.

Baduga, below, also had this problem once the drivers were updated. He reported the fix was by following the instructions on HP customer service page that flavallee linked earlier. It turns out my password was missing from the association page of the wireless network connection.

Can someone give that link again, and be explicit about what you have to do to get to the association page of the wireless network connection, and exactly which password needs to be entered there/

I just bought a Compaq Mini that uses Windows 7. I'm attempting to connect to my router using wireless but I get an error saying "Possible network security key mismatch". I am using Verizon FiOS. I am certain I typed in the correct WEP key, because it's printed right on the router. My desktop also runs Windows 7, but uses a Netgear wireless USB adapter and works fine. I was also able to successfully connect to an unsecure wireless network and through ethernet with the netbook. After googling, I found someone suggesting disabling Internet Protocol Version 6, but the problem still persists, so I enabled it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, i have two questions.
first: i did not find the bletooth device in this laptop, but i read on the internet, that it should be available in this model.
second and more important issue is, that the laptot is not able to connect to any network via Wi-Fi nor via cable.
It was ok in the past, but now it seems to find the wireless SSID fine and connect to it with the encryption key but it has trouble acquiring an IP address.
I am trying all wi-fi networks available in my neighbourhood and hotspot which i made from my phone and nothing works. Also as i mentioned, the connection it is not working via cable.
I have used this laptot in past also in foreign countries, for example in Vietnam or Cannada and everything worked fine.
Operation system is genuine seller - installed. Win xp service pack 3 home edition.
All other devices, like mobile phone, other laptops are able to connect to my wi-fi. So i don't think there is a problem with my Wi-fi network.
Thanks a lot for your help.

A:Dell Inspiron mini 10 can not connect to internet

You should check your device manager to see what bluetooth you may have installed, and if there are any devices that may need driver updates or are unrecognized by the system.

As for the IP issue. There are many things that can contribute to this. If you have run adware removal recently, some programs can actually remove or reconfigure components essential for network operation. winsockfix is a common tool used to fix this. Ive gone through it myself (while working on a family member's computer who was experiencing similar issues).

You may also try uninstalling and then reinstalling your network card in the device manager. Some people suggest checking your password or removing saved passwords, but seeing as you have already tested multiple networks, the issue is not that.

Hello, I am trying to connect a Dell Inspiron Mini to my home wireless network. It was working last week with no problems. The status icon shows that it is connected to the network and gives an IP address. However, when I try and view a webpage I get "The page cannot be displayed". I have tried to "Diagnose Connection Problem" and it says there are no issues.

I have tried the ipconfig /release, ipconfig /flushdns, and ipconfic /renew and that spits out a new IP address but still no connection. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Dell Inspiron Mini will not connect to internet

Go to the Control Panel/Internet Connections. Right click your Local Area Connection/Properties scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP-IP) hit Properties. Make sure Obtain an IP Address Automatically is checked as well as Obtain a DNS Server Address Automatically. Browse to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc open the Hosts file with Notepad. Delete any lines after localhost
Save the file. Do the ipconfig release, flushdns, and renew again.

Do you mean USB 2.0 (high speed USB) vs USB 1.1 (low speed)?

Look in Device Manager - Hardware.

Expand the Universal Bus Controllers tree and see if you have an "enhanced" controller.
If not, you only have USB 1.1 (and that is what I would suspect).

If you have a spare PCI slot, a USB 2.0 card would be worth considering.

I have just replaced the 802.11b Intel PRO 2100 wireless adapter in my Dell Inspiron 600m laptop computerwith an 802.11b/g Intell PRO 2200BG. I am confused about connecting the antenna cables to the new mini PCI board. Originally, the grey cable was connected to the Main connector and the black cable to the Aux connector. This is how Dell shipped the computer with the 2100. However, the Installation Guide for the new adapter (2200BG) indicates that the black cable should be connected to Main and the grey to Aux. How would I know which connection configuration is correct? Thanks.

P.S. I don't know if this is of any relevance, but the Intel PRO Wireless 2200BG adapter appears to be intended for HP computers. The drivers CD has HP on it and the Installation Guide is "Copyright 2004 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.". Is the antenna cable colour standardised among computer brand manufacturers?

This morning I went to go on to the internet and it says it can't connect to a network. I've never had this problem before so I clicked on the network and it said it couldn't detect any.

When i clicked on "diagnose the problem" it says "there are driver or hardware problems with the network adapter "dell wireless 1390 WLAN mini-card" on this computer.

I have a Dell Inspiron 640m

I can find the cord to hook it up to the internet with a wire (I can buy one if absolutely needed) and I do have the original software CD.

I not good with computers so if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it.

Hi:Take a look at device manager, particularly the WLAN card.Any error indicators?
Let’s take a look at the status of the network adapters

Device manager:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.
1. Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
2. Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
3. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?
4. should be enabled and working properly.
5. If error code,what is it ?

It would be best if you could post a screen shot of Device Manager with the Network adapters and Other devices sections expanded.

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

Also.Go to the Dell site.Search the drivers available for your particular model by inputting the service tag # for your unit.Should be on a side or bottom tag along with model and serial #.This will make it a lot easier to determine the proper driver(s) to download/install

Also,let's see this:

When I preform a scan, it will not find any wifi networks at all. I have unplugged, did a factory reset, put the LAN adapter in HDMI 2, reset router, used to work fine. I even set my iPhone as a Hotspot to see if it could recognize that and nothing!

Can the LAN adapters go bad? I cannot manually enter IP address when I choose WIRELESS setup, and obviously choosing a WIRED setup doesn't work.

But my wireless connect to other devices and is working fine.

Can someone help please.

A:Sony Bravia does not connect to internet

any information in the network settings - like IP address at all

from a working PC can you post an ipconfig /all
and then on the TV we can try to setup a fixed IP

ipconfig /all

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply
Note: you will see entries named Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface: we dont need to see that information - JUST the information above those entries

I used to use this program for music and music downloads (got free download codes from the grocery store) and want to start using it again, but when I attempt to go to the store I get an error message that I am not connected to the internet. I verified my connection, and checked their help questions about the problem. They refer me to do the following three things: 1) check that my firewall is not blocking the site - it's not (I see the rule for it in my Norton Personal Firewall); 2) Browser security settings - I've checked and added the site to the trusted sites section; 3) clear cache - done. However, the error still comes up. I've emailed their customer service, but that is slow -- their first reply was to ask me for info I had already supplied about my software versions, so I figured I'd check here. Any suggestions on what else to try?
Oh, and in the meantime, I downloaded and installed the newest version of the software as well, but it was no help either.

A:Solved: SonicStage (Sony Connect)

I abandoned this issue for awhile, but after upgrading my computers I wanted to try and use this again. However, the issue is still there. Only now it does not tell me I am not connected to the internet, but it still does not allow me to login, listen to song previews or navigate the store in general. I can access my library of music previously purchased.
The error message mentions javascript not being enabled, though when I click the link provided for more information it takes me to instructions about clearing cookies, and setting the site up in the allowed sites for IE. It also has me disable my firewall. None of these steps accomplish anything.

I don't seem to get much time on our desktop so I thought I'd use my other half's old sony vaio notebook to browse the internet. I want to do this wirelessly, but it has only one USB port and no cd-rom drive.
It does however have two PCMCIA ports. I bought a wireless adapter (came with a CD-ROM) so I bought a CD Drive that also connects via PCMCIA. Everything seemed to be working fine, I put the CD-ROM into the drive double clicked on the drive's icon and I got the message "E:\ is not accessible The device is not ready"

I've read a few posts on here with similar problems, but they don't seem to be applicable to this. Can anyone help PLEASE?

Hi all,

Hope someone can help, this is driving me mad!

I've just bought a Sony EX600 TV and I want to connect my laptop to it to stream video/music. Both the laptop (HP DV6000) and the TV are connected to my Belkin Share N300 router wirelessly (TV via Sony wifi dongle) but I can't get them to recognise each other. At one point I at least had the TV recognised as a device on the laptop and the TV was showing the laptop as a recognised media server (even if I couldn't get streaming to work) but I deleted the TV as a device from the device manager and now I can't get the TV to be recognised anymore.

I know that my laptop is probably not DNLA certified, so I may struggle to do this all wirelessly, but I've even connected the two via LAN cable and still no joy.

What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it?

I have a Sony Vaio VPCZ1 with a HDMI connector. When I connect the Vaio to my new LG LED TV via a HDMI cable, the TV does not detect any signal. To send a signal from the computer to the TV, I used the F7 key to tell the computer to run either a duplicate output or a projector only. Neither option works. Does anybody know what is going on and how to get the TV to recognize the computer signal?

A:[SOLVED] Connect Sony Vaio to LG LED TV

I currently use drivers from 2008:

Driver Version - 10/1/2008

for my Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card.

Whenever I run Microsoft Update it tells me to upgrade to the latest drivers, however, with the newest drivers I experience a SIGNIFICANT drop in throughput- something like from 108 mbps with my current setup to 1-15 mbps with the "updated" drivers.

I'd like to have the most up to date driver, but do not want to limit my Wifi bandwidth either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated-- all my system info *should* be in my profile.

PS I'm a brand new user, so I apologize if this is not a well written post!

A:Updated Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card Worse Connect

If the new driver causes problems and the old one works fine, best to just stick with the old driver. Typically you only need to update your drivers if you are experiencing problems or the new driver adds some functionality. Otherwise it is better to just leave well enough alone. If is listed as an important update, right-click the update and hide it.

If you are set on updating, you can try downloading the driver from the Dell website (link below) and uninstalling the old driver prior to installing the new driver. You can also look at the fixes and enhancements listed on the Dell site to determine if you really need it.

It was my understanding that the HDMI connecting cable carried both video and audio. I have purchased a Dell XPS Laptop that has the HEMI connector.

Connected it to my Sony Bravia 42" TV and the Windows Desktop was truly amazing to see. My problem is that the only audio I am getting is from the speaker in the Dell Laptop.

I was surprised that there was no sound (along with the video)!!!

Does it make sense to buy a mini plug for stereo to come out of the Dell Laptop and that split to a right and left channel to run through my sound sytem.

I think this might work but why am I not getting sound through the HEMI connection?

If anyone has dealt with this, I would sure appreciate any ideas.

A:HDMI Connect to a Sony Bravia 42" using Dell XPS

You?re going to want to get into your audio settings and make sure your HDMI is set to send sound to your device.

If you are running Vista, right-click your speaker icon in the taskbar and select ?Playback devices? from the menu. From there, a window will open and should list your audio devices. Highlight ?Digital Output Device (HDMI)? in the list and hit the ?set as default? button. Also, right-click and make sure the device is enabled.

Hi, I'd appreciate your assistance please.

I didn't know whether to post this in this forum or the Vista one so feel free to move it.

I recently purchased a Sony VAIO laptop running on Vista and cannot get it to connect to the internet wirelessly at home using an ADDon GWAR 3500 router. The laptop shows that it is connected wirelessly to the router but not to the net. It gets this same problem even when I disable security.

I have a desktop (running XP) that can connect fine which uses a Belkin usb wireless adapter.

The laptop will connect to the net if I connect it to the router via lan cable.

I have tried the laptop at other people's houses, and it connects in seconds, which is really frustrating, also I tried a Toshiba router using XP and it connected at my house without problem.

In the end, I contacted Sony and they took the laptop back and could find no fault and returned it to me in the same state. Sony have suggested there is a fault with the Vista. I'm at the end of my tether and I'm even thinking about putting XP on there. I have tried a friend's Vaio which was the same model, and had the same problem so somewhere there is contention between the Vaio and this ADDon router.

Having searched other logs, I can see that you usually ask for certain info, so I've posted it below. Thanks for any help that you can provide.

Hi everyone.

I have a new actiontec modem/router, used to have a D-link modem/router and all my devices, computers worked fine. now everything connects except the Sony TV with Sony USB wireless lan adapter. I have read a lot of posts and one here was sort of the same. The problem is I get the which I understand is what it sets to when it won't connect to the router and get a new Ip address. I haven't been able to manually put the ip in. Also even connecting with the cable direct to the modem/router still doesn't connect.
The member who also had this problem was with his xp win computer. My problem this is with a tv device so I can't release ip or anything. They said his problem was a" be that Winsock2 is corrupted."
I am not sure if the fix would be the same in this case? Would I download this :
WINSOCK Fix WinALL: and run it on my windows7 computer? I'm at a loss because it worked fine on the old D-link, and has never connected to the new actiotec, but all other devices have connected no problem.
Thanks for any ideas.

Hello, I have read the threads, and have tried all the recommendations.
I have tried different cables, cameras, and computers, and only on this computer when I set up the hub to read "legacy" do I get an id DV cam. I was told by Sony tech to try play memories home or win movie maker. None work, I have reseated the card Syba 1394 a and b (2 ports each), and cannot get either program to work. I have sent the card back and they will swap. I have followed all the steps, turn on the camera, set it to vtr, and wait for the pop up prompts. I do hear the ding, and it is listed under "imaging devices". So, maybe the card is the only variable. Right?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A:Sony Vaio SVE14112EGW cant connect to FB & youtube

do you have any other devices at home and do they work ok - if not -
have you tried the pc anywhere else - coffee shop, friends house - just to make sure its not an ISP issue

this maybe a malware issue
but first check

Checking the Host file
Open Notepad - Start> Programs> Accessories> and right click on Notepad select "Run as Administrator" to open a notepad
Now goto 'File' > 'Open' and browse to the HOSTS file - which will be located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc. - you may need to change the drop down box next to the file name:box from Text Documents (*.txt) to ALL Files (*.*)
The file should look like the info at the bottom of this post

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

Once you are finished, go up to 'File' and click 'Save'. Make sure to change the Save as Type: box to All files.
Otherwise, Notepad may add a .txt extension to the file which will keep it from working. If you don't have your system set to show extensions, it's easy to miss that.

Hey guys,

First post on here and I hope somebody can help me out. The wireless adaptor on my VAIO seems to have gone kaput or at least the switch is broke whilst set to 'off' and now refuses to function so in order to try and still get on the internet I've been trying, in vein, to connect the laptop to my BT Homehub through a wired connection but cannot for the life of me access the internet. It recognises that there's 'something' connected to the laptop but calls it 'Unknown Network' with only LAN access. There's only one ethernet port on the laptop so what do people think my next move could be?

A:Cannot Connect Sony VAIO VGN-NS20E to BT Homehub

What version of Windows on the laptop?

Let's see this with that cable connected.
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

I am trying to connect to the internet and the wireless appears disconnected. I've gone to the control panel to change adapter settings and the laptop is still disconnected. Someone please help me solve this problem asap. Thank you.

A:Sony Vaio laptop does not want to connect to internet

Well first; go into the device manager in the control panel and check to make sure there are no question marks or exclamation points by any of the network adapters/connections. Then, I would open a elevated command prompt by doing the following: click start, programs, accessories, then system tools, then right click on command prompt and choose run as administrator. Then type ipconfig /release then once it releases the ip; type a ipconfg /renew. Lastly; I would check your router and try power cycling your modem and router. Unplug both of them; wait about a minute; then plug the modem back in first and let that boot; then plug the router back in and let that boot. Try these things and see if they help ya any. Report back if any or all fail or if they work.

I already contacted Sony and they told me it is likely an issue with the laptop, which makes sense as it works fine with my wife's HP laptop.  Also, once connected the quality of the conneciton is poor. My suspicion is that it has something to do with missing or incorrect A2DP and HFP drivers. Any thoughts?

Xp Professional, SP2.

I have a Sony cam (cyber-shot DSCT-10) which I am unable to connect to my pc.
I uninstalled the software which came with the cam as it didn't do anything. I've kept the usb driver just in case, but from what I've read XP has the driver already.
I simply cannot get Windows to recognise the camera from the usb port. Other devices work fine in there so it's not the usb. I even took my mouse out and put it in an adapter and plugged it in a round hole (don't know what that's called) so that no other usb ports were being used except for the cam.
I've tried adding hardware but Sony isn't in the list of cameras, so when it said *have disk* I tried that but it says - no hardware information is on this cd.
I've tried every USB port I have and sometimes I get flashing on the camera screen as if it's trying to make usb connection, but nothing on the pc at all.
Any help or suggestions appreciated.

I have a Sony Vaio TZ36GN. It only has one port for an external monitor -VGA. I had it downgraded recently to XP because Vista was painfully slow. I installed all the drivers off of the Sony site and installed them according to the instructions and everything is working smoothly.

I have a Sony Bravia which has several HDMI ports and a designated PC in port (VGA). I bought a D-sub 15 pin VGA cable and attempted to connect the two.

Tha laptop seems to acknowledge that a cable has been connected (by the little recognition sound it makes when anything is plugged in), however that's about all it does. It doesn't recognize the TV at the other end, nor does the TV recognize the laptop and displays a 'No signal' when the input mode is switched to PC.

Pressing the FN+F7 key brings up 'LCD only'. There is no option for any additional/external monitors. When I open up my display properties I can alter screen 1 & 2 and 'expand desktop to this monitor'- but that doesn't make a difference. I've tried changing the resolution but to no avail. No matter what resolution I set it two, they refuse to sync.

Am I doing something wrong? Missing some special xp related driver? Is it the TV? Or is it just not possible to directly hook up a regular VGA cable and use your TV as an external monitor?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as Sony's support page is of no help.

Hi there, hoping someone can solve this ongoing issue for me. I have a Sony vaio vpcej2b1e and then virgin media superhub 2 router, and the two don't seem to be getting along very nicely. I put in the details for the wireless connection, and all I get back is that 'the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network' and it is definitely not the passcode, redone this many times, but to no avail.

I have the atheros ar9285 wireless network adapter, and I believe (from trawling the internet on this issue) that this is what is the problem.

Anyone else had this problem previously and managed to find a way to fix it and can share?

Thanks in advance. Much appreciated.

Hi everyone,
I have a Sony DCR-HC96 miniDV camcorder and I want to transfer the video to my computer in high quality with a 1394 cable.

So far however, I haven't gotten it to work out.
I'm using the handycam docking station and my computers are running windows XP.

One of my computer's cases did have a 6-pin firewire port, and I tried that, but it didn't work; not too unexpected.
I picked up a PCI firewire card from newegg and tried it with both of my desktops, neither worked. Both computers recognized the card on device manager. On one of my computers, the camcorder showed an iLink icon, but my computer didn't show anything on Sony's included video capture tool, or another 3rd party tool I tried. I tried both a 4-pin and 6-pin cable.

Again, I picked up another VIA based PCI card, and it didn't work on either computer even though the 1394 card was recognized in device manager.

I even tried a laptop with a built in 4-pin firewire, but that didn't seem to work either.

A:Sony HandyCam doesn't connect to computer using 1394

No personal experience using 1394 but did some, uhhh, looking around and found some (maybe) useful info. See HERE

While one person spoke about 1394a vs 1394b, i checked and seems 1394b has been out quite awhile and i would think (i.e. guess) current 1394 drivers would be backward compatible (if need be)

Tho it also turns out the OP of the old thread ended up discovering it was a bad cable. Have you also tried a different cable?

Help, I have a new SONY Vaio laptop running Vista (ultra / ultimate?) and am attempting to connect to my simpleshare nas 400.
I am not running Norton firewall.
I have tried with and without the windows firewall on and both fail.
My primary method has been to map a network drive to the network share; e.g. \\simpleshare\chicago
each time i see a dialogue - i think it detects the simpleshare.
It then prompts me for user id and password, at which time it rejects it.
The same user id and password works on my windows xp pro boxes just fine.

Please advise. I'm getting desperate.

Is it giving any error numbers, or is it just saying invalid username/password?

I have had a Netgear WNDR3700 wireless router for over a year now, and have had no problems connecting to wireless devices (currently connects perfectly to: windows 7, OSX, Android, and Meego). I have recently purchased a Sony Bravia NX720, which has a built in wireless card.

Hi there,

It's my first time on this forum so would be delighted if anyone could help me PLEASE! I have just bought a brand new Sony Vaio laptop VPCEH2. I have tried to connect wirelessly to my Netgear router (DG934G). The router and broadband is supplied by Sky. The laptop is running Windows 7. The router is sending a wireless sending fine to our desktop and two smartphones but the Vaio is unable to connect.

The Vaio finds the signal which is says is excellent but does not connect. Using an ethernet cable the internet connection is fine. I have been on the phone to Sky for nearly 2 hours across two nights and they have given up. We have tried setting up a new router password, disconnecting and reconnecting, establishing a connection in the Network and Sharing Cente using WPA security with no joy. I asked them if the router needed a firmware upgrade for Windows 7 and they were adamant that it did not - the firmware version is currently V2.02.44. I have checked the Windows 7 compatibility listings for Netgear routers but couldn't find the DG934G (or the DG834GT - which I believe is a newer version), listed.

The funny thing is that when Sky did help me to create a wireless connection in the sharing centre is did work for around 30 seconds where I was able to access around 5/6 webpages. The browser then stopped working and the connection was lost (with yellow warning triangle across the signal to bottom right of screen).

I see literally hundreds of people on the in... Read more

Using all-caps and vague descriptions won't help.Next, please explain the exact problem you're having. It sounds like your MP3 player lost all its data, and that you attempted to reload everything manually afterward with no success. Is this true? If so:1.) What MP3 player do you have? Exact Sony model would be nice.2.) What service did you use to d/l or transfer music originally? Napster, iTunes, etc? Did you use Media Player? Did you own the songs or were you "renting" them? 3.) Is your MP3 player under warranty? Because my gut tells me that your issue is a hardware one (i.e. your player is fubar'd) and not a software one.risk

I have been having a problem for a few weeks now and nothing I've done or come across seems to solve the issue!
Basically when I try and connect to my wifi (netgear router) I get a very strong signal but local only access & an unidentified network. I have my desktop & 2 more laptops running off this router so it can't be that.

After failing to connect to wifi I tried to use an ethernet connection to try and update my drivers in hope that would fix the wifi problem. After plugging the ethernet in I was in exactly the same position, I kept getting 'Identifying' appear in network connections which then turned to unidentified and wouldn't allow me to connect to the internet either!

The laptop is about 3-4 years old I think so I did update the drivers but that didn't do anything either, any help would be appreciated.

I have a PC with Windows 7 and a Netgear router/modem wirelsss connected to my PC (wired)
I use my laptop connecting wireless router all the time.

RecentlyI bought a Sony TV and Sony Adaptor wireless - usb dongle from Sony.

Everytime I turn on my TV a message at the bottom appears wireless USB adaptor detected.
When I try to connect using TV manual, the TV scans for wireless ssid and finds my ssid. It is WEP encrypted so I entered my key and saved it. It then tries to connect automatically and FAILS.
When I try to connect it comes with FAILED to connect but device OK message.

I read about this issue on WEB and realised that the Wireless Adaptor and TV is not very smart so needs to enter manual entry of IP and Subnet mask etc.
I used my PC ipconfig data to insert for TV ip.
Used for subnet mask
Default Gateway and DHCP as
I also added manually Secondary gateway as same ip.

Still no luck, it keeps coming with same error.

Then I try to remove WEP security on my modem and tried, it did connects successfully, so concluded that the Adaptor and TV is Ok.

Following is my ipconfig data, so please help/guide me to resolve this issue.

Thanks in advance

I am working on my friend's computer, it has not been able to connect to the Internet since some time in July. Wired or wireless networks, he has tried several including where he works, school, mine and several others, through wifi and hooked directly. He noticed the problem started when he attempted to uninstall an antivirus software called WebRoot while he was running the installer for MS Security Essentials. The details are a little fuzzy at that point, but he says it kept rebooting and a friend of his booted it up in safe mode and restored the machine to it's last restore point before the issue and then tried installed an updated driver for the wifi adapter as he read it can cause the kind of problem it was having. I am not sure if the Internet connectivity problem was happening before this, or because of this. It's been a few months so it's been forgotten.

It will recognize wireless networks, but then when you attempt to connect, it will say it had trouble connecting and is not connected, but then says "limited connectivity" by the wireless network you tried to connect to. When turn wifi off and hook a cable in, the Local Area Connection with go from "network cable unplugged" to "enabled" but will not recognize the network or connect. All of the windows tools say it is a driver problem with both.

I got the computer yesterday and it had no antivirus on it, Webroot or MS Security Essentials. It had Windows Defende... Read more

I just bought a 9mth old Sony Vaio Laptop with 64bit vista installed. It would not connect to my home wireless router - Dlink brand. My Dell and HP laptops connect easily to my wireless router - by entering a password. I followed the suggestion to update Vista registry's ArpRetryCount but it did not work (maybe that suggestion is for 32 bit Vista). Any suggestions?

ps. Here is the suggestion for 32 bit:
registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters)he has me look for an entry that I?m suppose to edit but seems to be missing. Confused, I?m on hold again while the rep goes to consult another rep yet again. Finally, assured he has the answer, he has me create a new ?DWORD (32-bit) Value? entry line ?ArpRetryCount? with the values set all to zero (the default value).

False alarm. As it turns out, there was nothing wrong with Vista 64 bit. Once I got the password right, I was able to connect to DLINK wireless home router with no problems.

About 4-6 months ago it stoped working, i have been copying files onto a usb to watch rather than trying to fix the issue as i have know idea.
Any way tonight it got the better of me and i started to look around this site and found some very helpful information. This is what i discovered.
If i turn the password protection off on my D Link DIR 300 router the Bravia connects no problem. I have tried connecting with this re enabled but it will not work. This never used to be a problem has anyone come accross this before? Is there a way to fix this? I dont wont to keep my password turned off and dont really fancy turning it off and on everytime i wont to stream from my PC to my TV.
Apoligise if this is in the incorrect area or in someway not correct.
Any help would be great.

I have seen some posts about possible fixes, but am wondering if this is easy enough to fix myself?

Thanks for your help

A:my sony laptop won't connect to wireless network--"identifying"

Yes, I believe this should be a easy fix for ya. The first and easiest thing to try is to power cycle both the modem and router so it will "reset" them both. Unplug both of them for about a minute or so; then plug the modem back in first and let that fully boot; then plug the router back in and let that fully boot. If that does not fix the problem, then i would go into the device manager in the control panel and completely uninstall the wireless adapter(s) reboot; and let windows re-detect the adapter(s) and reinstall the drivers for them and hopefully that will correct the issue.

Hi Folks, This is my first post. so go easy on me;-)

I switched on my PC after 1 year of no use(apple imac distracted me for a while).
The message "operating system not found" appears when it boots up. I put in the Sony Recovery disk, bit it could not read it. As Sony didn't provide a spare copy of XP, how do I get back up and running? Do I have to change the motherboard battery? any advice much appreciated.

I Hope you Christmas is Merry and peaceful.

A:Sony Vaio Desktop PCV-RX305 Windows XP now missing, no disks supplied by Sony

Call Sony Tech Support if you are the registered owner or buyer. They will provide a disk set for a small fee ($27) for six years after purchase, or until they run out.
Your only other choice is to buy the disk online at some place like ebay, or buy Windows Home (still available for $82) or Windows XP Professional for $135.
The motherboard battery should not be bad, but if it is, you can get a replacement (CR2032) at Wal-Mart ofr $3.67 or on eBay for $2.58.
The recovery disk may be good, and it is your optical drive that has gone bad.
