SD Card not recognized in computer but recognized on camera

Q: SD Card not recognized in computer but recognized on camera

I have an 8GB sd card i used while traveling and upon trying to get the pictures from it the computer does not recognize the card at all, no prompts, nothing. I have tried it in multiple pcs and macs and no response. My Cannon Rebel XS camera says no images found. However, when I plug it into my brother's Cannon PowerShot it actually recognizes and shows all pictures on the card. Does anyone have any reason why this is happening and how I can recover the pictures? I am not willing to just format to make the card work again, I must have these pictures.

A: SD Card not recognized in computer but recognized on camera

Have you tried leaving the card in the camera and attaching to the computer to d/l the pictures that way. I have an Olympus camera and the pictures will d/l fine with the card left in the camera.

I just rebuilt an old system using Windows 7 Home Premium after using WinXP pro for many years. The primary hard drive is WDC 150 Mg and Win7 is installed and updated to current with SP1. I dropped a second WDC hard drive in, formatted and was going to use it for a 2nd backup unit. Both of these are sata. Both hard drives are recognized by Disk Management but when I select Computer on the start menu ONLY the primary 150 Mg drive is recognized. If I plug in an external drive, both Computer and Disk Management recognizes the external drive. How do I have Win7 recognize my backup WDC drive so I can use it.

Thank you

Set it as follows:

Primary Master -----> Main Boot HDD
Secondary Master -----> EMPTY

Primary Slave -----> CD/DVD RAM
Secondary Slave -----> Secondary backup HDD

I have a Nokia cell phone and two memory cards for it. One is the mini SanDisk SD card and the other is also a mini Nokia SD card. Now i have adapter for these cards so i could place those cards in my memory card reader on my laptop.

Now the interesting part comes. When i place the mini Nokia SD card into the adapter and then into the computer i recognizes it and i can transfer stuff.

But when i place the mini SanDisk SD card into the adapter and then into the computer it recognizes it. Though when i try to transfer stuff over from my computer to the card or vise versa it gives me an error saying cant write F: drive. Now my lock switch is off on the adapter, so i dont know how come am getting this error? It also states to take the write protection off. I dont know how to take it off, because it already should be off? Also i would like to mention that the adapter is SanDisk. Dont know if that makes a difference.

So please can anyone help me with this problem. How do i fix the card so i can transfer my stuff? Also does card have to be altered or reset while in the cell phone? Sorry for so many questions.

A:memorty card not recognized by the computer

Welcome to TSF....

THere may be a difference in format on the two cards that they both will work in the cell and be recognized in the computer but still one might not be accessible. I would contact the Nokia tech suppport about this they should know the answer.

Is you windows xp fat32 or ntfs?

What service pack do you have installed?

My SD card was originally in a mobile phone now no phone nor my computer will recognize it in order for me to format it, can anyone possibly help me in finding a way to fix it? Thankyou

A:SD Card not recognized in mobile phone or on computer

Is it just a regular SD card? Did you check if it has a switch on the side? Maybe it's locked.
Did you restart your computer with the card connected and it wasn't recognized? Did you try to clean it?
Otherwise it sounds like it could be just too late to save the card.

When I first got the computer, when I plugged in a digital camera, I got a "found new hardware" pop-up, thereafter when plugging in the USB cable, the XP camera wizard popped up and the pictures were downloaded without a fuss. At some point it stopped working, and I've ended up using Picassa to get the images d'ld, but it won't let me add photos to an existing folder. I want the Windows wizard to work again, that was better.

My new camera is not recognized at all, and if anything pops up, it's Explorer. I tried to install drivers from the disc that came with the camera, but keep getting a message that says I don't need to. I've tried to manually add the camera with the "add hardware" function, but it won't work.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I have Windows XP and just installed service pack 2--I have a Nikon coolpix 2500 and when I connected the camera to the PC (HP) with the USB cable I always got 4 or 5 options for downloading. I also got a message that said the computer recognized that hardware was connected. Today when I tried to download pictures I got the sound that something was connected but no message and no change on the screen. I went to the control panel and with the camera attached and turned on I clicked on the icon with nikon coolpix and the computer said there was no camera. I also tried with a card reader and even though the light was on there was still no connection. Any suggestions?
Thank you

Did you install anything other than SP2?

Have you uninstalled SP2 and tried it?

Does the computer recognize the reader? If so what happens when you plug the card into the reader?

Suddenly my camera is not recognized when I connect it to my computer. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I'm totally frustrated and need some help. I've spent hours trying to resolve this. Can anyone help?

I've had my Fuji Finepix F700 for a couple of years. Never a problem till now. I love this camera. Running Windows XP SP2. Fuji site says it's a Windows autoplay issue. Can't figure out how to access that and since the camera isn't being recognized, not sure that's really the issue.

On my first time transferring photos from Sony digital camera to desktop via USB since updating from Win 8 Pro x64 to 8.1, the camera is not recognized. When I didn't see the photos in Picassa (import), I checked a file manager and the drive wasn't there. Not in Windows Photo Viewer either. Shows in Device Mgr and driver up to date. Is Media Center needed for any of this, as I didn't update it because I don't use it or WMP (tho the latter is still installed). Thanks,

Update: According to the Sony support site, Sony eSupport - Driver Update for USB Charging with a Windows 8.1 PC, a driver has been released. Not sure where they were during the preview period, but my 8.1 is up to date so the driver must not yet have been released, at least by MS

I have also tried uninstalling the software and all the other software programs that came on this disc and reinstalling and that hasn't worked. Apparently the company no longer exists since their domain name is now for sale. I have also search a few sites and cannot come up with anything.

You need to check your manual, I think the Canon requires you to turn the camera on then press the Triangle (like Play icon) to activate the USB, my Fuji camera is like that as well. If you can't find it post your model and I will find the manual on line for you.

Interesting---Check under System Properties/Hardware/Device Manager and make sure that the ieee1394 devices show. The fact that it is happening with both the PC and the Mac leads me to bleieve that its a bad wire (often a problem) or the firewire port on the TRV900 is beat.

Hi guys, I need a little help.

I have a Kodak Easyshare Camera DX4330. For some reason, the camera is not transferring its pictures. When I plug the camera into the USB port and turn it on, a small screen comes up and says it is retrieving contents and recognizes the camera. However it does not automatically transfer. So I tell the camera to "transfer now" and it says a camera could not be found.

Now here's where it gets weird: when I turn on my printer, it recognizes the printer as the camera and wants to transfer the photos out of the printer. I click "OK and it always says "Transfer interrupted. The file exists but may be damaged." And that is the end of it. I've tried it with the camera plugged in simultaneously and with just the printer. The results are the same.

The printer I own is an HP PSC 2175 All-In-One. I've had this printer for about a year and the camera slightly longer. The two have coexisted without any problems until recently. I'm using Windows XP. I haven't installed any new components onto this computer to cause this. The Kodak EasyShare software is Vers. 3.4.0. I have tried updating both the camera and printer drivers and the problem persists.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

I have an HP Pavilion 2317 running Vista SP2, business edition. I'm not sure when this problem started but I just realized I was having a problem. A while back, I tried to open a flash drive, and got an access denied message. Having burnt out my share of flash drives, I assumed I'd just zapped another. Now I'm not sure that's what happened. I just tried to load pix from my camera, which I have done many times before and the computer could not even find the device. When I looked to see why, I found that I was no longer the owner of that drive and the message was "user could not be displayed" and when I tried to take control, I could not, that was denied.

I tried to obtain access through sharing but couldn't get in that way either. I then tried my CD/DVD drive and the same thing happened. I have control of my C drive, but no access to any of the external drives.

I wish I knew how many Vista updates there have been since I noticed this initially but all I can say is it's been several months. I may have had a virus or malware that was introduced around the same time, but when I realized what it was, I immediately ran my virus program (eset), and then did a restore point to make sure. My antiviral program seemed to have caught it and isolated it so that probably has nothing to do with it, but you never know.

After inspection of the disc it seems it only has drivers on it for Windows 98... Luckily I have a Windows 98 PC but again Windows 98 says it has 'problems' with the drivers..

I have two HP laptops and a Canon SX130is digital camera. I am not using Canon's camera software -- I just want to download photos. Both computers are running Win7-64. Both are Home Premium Versions.

On my HP Envy, USB recognizes, the camera, AutoPlay opens so I can select my action and I can also browse the memory card in Windows Explorer.

On my HP DM4, USB recognizes the camera, but no AutoPlay on any USB port. SD memory cards and flash drives open AutoPlay, so the issue is about the camera on one computer.

I have checked the AutoPlay settings, run net start shellhwdetect and the results are the same.

Can anyone offer a direction for me to take to fix this issue on my DM4?

A:Canon camera recognized on USB, but not AutoPlay

In Windows 7, type "autoplay" (no quotes) at the start button. Make sure "use autoplay for all media and devices" is selected.

Alternately, (I believe) you can hold down the shift key when inserting your usb device, to override and get autoplay to work.

I have a PC which is having a lot of trouble recognizing a USB data acquisition device. Starting from a situation where the PC *does* recognize the device, here is the basic pattern:

1. PC shows device in Device Manager under "Data Acquisition Devices".

2. If the PC is power-cycled via the power plug itself, the device is no longer recognized under Device Manager ("Unknown Device").

3. If the PC is power-cycled via Start Menu --> Turn Off, same results as above, no longer recognized.

4. If the PC is power-cycled via Start Menu --> Restart, no problems, device recognized.

When the device is not recognized, unplugging and replugging the USB cable makes no difference to the situation. In order to correct the issue, I disable and then enable via Device Manager (which also involves a restart).

This pattern is extremely repeatable.

I am working with WinXP SP2, Pentium, 2.8 GHz, 504 MB RAM.

This PC was returned from a customer site - the PC and USB device are used in a machine my company manufactures. Apparently this issue just started happening one day. We want not only to correct the issue, but in fact to understand the root cause and ensure it will not happen again in the future.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

A:USB Device Recognized / Not Recognized based on shut-down method

You could try reinstalling the usb drivers.
JohnWill has fix that is worth a try

Johnwill's solution

Create a file with NOTEPAD containing the following lines and save it as FIX.REG
-------------------------- Use text after this line --------------------------------

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment]

-------------------------- Use text before this line --------------------------------

Double click on FIX.REG and say yes to the Merge Into Registry question.

Unplug ALL USB devices.
Open Device Manager.
View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Uninstall all devices under Disk Drives that you know are not present.
Uninstall all devices under Storage Volumes. Say no to any reboot prompts until you are finished. Also, if a Storage Volume doesn't uninstall, ignore it and move to the next one.
If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

When this is done, reboot TWICE.

Reconnect the USB devices and see if they're recognized properly.

NOTE: If you have a USB keyboard and/or mouse, you'll have to modify the instructions and leave enough parts for those to function. I don't have one yet, so I haven't had time to modify the instructions.

Hello all. It has been a while since I've needed help but my run of luck has hit an ugly downturn. Moved my computer three weeks ago and had not plugged it all back together till last night. All these years I had used it without a password to log in but a few months back a tech friend expressed horror at this so I started using one. Last night no matter what I did it wouldn't let me log in, saying incorrect password. Today as I messed around again I went through the steps of asking it to reset password (even though I didn't have disc for reset) and realized it does not seem to be recognizing my internal drive. If one of my externals are on they come up but if I turn off externals I get a bubble that says 'No Drive. This feature requires removable media etc.' My drive seems to be running and the Windows logos do appear during boot. My keyboard seems to be functioning to type password, but when I hit F8 while rebooting I get no reaction, so cannot boot to safe mode, just goes right back to log in page. I have had mold/moisture issues in this new house but have had a dehumidifier running since just a few days after computer arrived here. However I do see some evidence of mold or dust in the case, not a lot but some. Not sure what the root of this problem is but I am trying hard not to panic. Any ideas?

A:Internal drive not recognized/password not recognized

Your tech. friend may have mis-understood when you need a password.
If you are at home and only you and you trusted family have access to you computer, there is no need whatsoever for a logon password.
The only time I have ever needed one is when I was using my own laptop on clients site when I was contracting and I would leave it on the desk over lunch.

Hello everyone..
Yesterday my laptop pushed a new Win 10 update, and all went fine, or at least I think so.
But today I see that my Sony WALKMAN - which I used with no problem until now, can't be recognized anymore.

Basically it just shows as (E or Usb Drive E: but when I click it it says "Please insert a disk into E:/" like there is nothing there.

Now the interesting part is.. if I go to Device Manager I see it and clicking on properties etc t says it's working fine.

But if I go to Disk Management, the Drive shows as 14 gb of unallocated space and it's greyed out.

However, if I put it on my brother's laptop, it works perfectly and it can be opened, music moved into it etc - it shows as Healthy - Primary Partition in Disk Management. So it doesn't seem broken...

It's the same on each of the 4 usb ports btw. But, other usb devices (2 phones, 1 tablet) don't have any issue and are detected.

What could have caused this? I tried the basic Disable/Enable in Device Manager and also Uninstall Driver.. It doesn't do anything, it appears back when I replug it in.

No change in Safe Mode and no change after sfc /scannow

If anyone has any idea I'd be happy to try anything to fix this..

I have an old PC (Compaq Presario Desktop 7470 ) that i purchased from a yard sale. I removed the old HD and replaced it with a quantum 30gb at Lct 20 HD that had Windows ME OS on it. I booted the pc and it booted fine except windows booted up in 16 bit color. I shut down and booted again. same thing. i shut down a third time and checked BIOS settings, then set them to default. Now BIOS doesn't recognize the HD or the CD-ROM drive. I have checked all connection, reset BIOS, removed the CMOS battery, I literally have tried everything I can think of to get things going on this old PC, but I am at the end of my rope. I will say that scandisk will recognize the HD and says it is OK. I have also taken the HD out and hooked it up to another PC and it boots up Windows ME just fine. I have also tried every jumper setting on the HD and Cd-rom to no avail and the only drive that shows up in BIOS is the 3.5 floppy drive which will boot up a Windows ME Boot Disk. probably the booting sequence is wrong due to the fact that you told the BIOS to load the preferred defaults. If you have a standard BIOS:

*take a look at the first , second and third boot device and change them to:

1- HDD - 0

I recently added two sticks of new RAM to my computer, but when I turned it on again I got the two-beep "RAM Not Detected" signal. I removed the new RAM, but I still got the two-beep signal after turning it on. I've removed the old RAM, sprayed the area with duster, put the old RAM back and still have the same problem.

What to do? Thanks.

I'm adding a video card (a Geforce 9400GT 512MB pci-e 2.0 to a Dell Optiplex 320 computer. This should have been a 10-15 minute job but I've spent a good 8 hours or so trying to resolve this issue.

The computer had on-board integrated video so I disabled those drivers, turned off the computer, plugged in the new video card into the pci-e slot, fired it up, video showed up while plugged into the video card so I logged into windows and then tried to install the drivers. The disc that came with the video card says "No supported hardware is found in your system." I downloaded the most recent drivers from the NVidia site and it said the same thing. I checked the current video adapter being used and it said "VGAsave" so I looked in device manager and there's an ! next to "PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge." I figure this is the problem and why the video card isn't recognized so I look at the properties for that and it says "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)"

I've done a lot of research and reading but I can't find any solution to this. I tried to uninstall the integrated video and completely get rid of the drivers using a driver sweeper program and that didn't work. The only setting in the BIOS for video is to either have "Auto" or "Onboard". I have it set to Auto but there is no way to disable the onboard video card within the BIOS. I've u... Read more

The best way to see if it's working is to try it. If it isn't working, then yeah you need drivers. As to which ones, well you'll have to figure that out since I can't tell what card it is. You should have gotten some documentation with the card telling you where to at least look for drivers.

Good luck.

I manually installed the drivers from the disk that came with the new card, but the computer refuses to acknowledge that there's even a card connected. The Device Manager can't see it. The cooling fan runs, but the monitor remains stubbornly blank whenever I reboot. It is indeed seated properly, before you ask. My question is this--what might cause a computer to fail to recognize hardware? A BIOS error, maybe? Motherboard failure? Any advice you can give me is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! I installed the Promise ultra 100 card and its drivers. There's no yellow mark beside it in Device Manager and no hareware problems in system tools. I installed the Maxtor 40 HD with the ATA 80 wire cable and tried to fdisk it to partition. Comp could not locate a fixed disk. I went to Promise support site and it suggested changing HD in cmos from auto to none. However, on this site, one of your threads on pci controller cards, it was suggested that the onboard pci controllers be disabled.

I haven't tried Promise suggestion yet because I was down for most of the day after trying to reboot with the original HD re-installed. I had to make changes in the bios to finally solve the problem. What steps would you recommend me taking to determine origin of non-disk recognition problem?

I have an ATI Radeon 4650 card (dual DVI ports) which is working perfectly. That is in a PCIe slot on the board. I have two monitors running well. I also have third monitor which I'm trying to get running but can't. I've installed one card in the second slot (PCI slot) that is the NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS PCI card. It too has a DVI port and also a VGA port. I'm aslo running Win7 enterprise 32-bit.

The problem is that the PCI card is not even being recognized as being connected to the system. It's fan is spinning, but Windows refuses to show it in the Display Adapter listing. I've also tried placing it in the other available PCI slot on the board and it's not being recognized there either.

I've scanned for hardware changes and nothing shows. I try installing the latest driver version from NVIDIA but it refuses to install b/c it doesn't see any card that the drivers would work for. I've even tried unzipping the driver package, and then manually installing the drivers as "legacy hardware" and it still will not see the drivers or card.

I'm stumped. I also had a problem getting Win7 to recognize an older VGA card at the same time with the ATI Radeon card. Well, it saw both cards, but would not turn them both on at the same time. If the VGA card was in it would only display on that adapter and not the ATI one. If you took the VGA card out then it would display on the ATI one. But it won't show to all the displays. well you probably have to install the drivers for it to work at all, and if you just search for drivers it will most likely look in your hard drive, were chances are they arent there

therefore what you need to do is get on another computer and download the driver, and save it to a flash drive or something like that and take it to the other computer and install the driver that way

Hi. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated!

So, two weeks ago I bought a desktop PC from HP. I wiped the drive to get all their vapor ware off, installed my software and everything went fine. Windows Update recognized the hardware on my machine and downloaded and installed the appropriate drivers after the wipe.

Here's the problem. My girlfriend followed suit two weeks later and asked me to do the same thing for her. Our machines were slightly different but for the most part I expected a similar experience. Except it wasn't. This time Windows Update failed to recognize the Video Card after the wipe.

So now she has this nice video card sitting in her machine using a Standard VGA Adapter instead of the Radeon drivers it needs. No matter how many times I download and install the Catalyst software from ATI's site it doesn't catch. What am I doing wrong?

Do I need to flash the BIOS? Is that too drastic? If so, is there a place I can go with instructions on how to do it?

Thanks again for any help you can offer. Over the years I've done this fresh wipe routine for friends and family many times and this is the first time I've had this happen!

Hello folks,

I have an HP Pavillion model a1123c running XP Media Center Edition version 2002 with SP3 installed. I had an issue with the system recognizing my DVD drives, so I ran the CDGONE regedit utility to get the system to recognize my DVD drives. Whenever I insert my SD card, the system does not recognize it. The SD card works fine on other systems. I am able to see memory sticks that are inserted into the USB ports without issue (if this matters).

Anyone know what might be causing this issue?

Interesting that WinAmp isn't having a problem!

I guess I'd remove the Sound Card, and Boot the sytem.

Go to Device Mgr and see if the Sound Card's entry(s) are still there.

If yes, Remove them.

Shutdn the system.

Reinstall the Sound Card and re-boot.

When the Card is found by Windows...install it using the CD if available.

Check Device Mgr, making sure that all entries are correct.

Either go directly to test the Player applications OR re-install them (preferably).

Report back on results.

AMD Athlon XP 64 3200+
Former video card: Gigabyte GeForce 6600 GT
Test card: Gigabyte GeFroce 7300 GT
New card: XFX GeForce 8600 GT

Right, rather long story to get into.

My computer's been regularly freezing and forcing hard reboots (video buffer stops refreshing, sound loops) for a while. It would work fine every so often. I attributed this to heat.

Two days ago computer froze. Upon a hard reboot the screen was garbled - displayed gibberish on the BIOS boot screen. You could kind of make out the Energy Star logo but all text was garbled with vertical lines streaking the screen.

So I tested this again with the 7300gt I pulled out of another comp. The computer booted up fine. I stuck the 6600 into said other comp and display was garbled. Video card was the issue, I got a new card.

Today I got the new card (8600gt) and put it in. I booted up into PnP VGA and started downloading the new drivers. Right after I finished the download the comp froze. Hard reboot got me into a strange POST error which I found out was this:

AwardBIOS -- The only AwardBIOS beep code indicates that a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information. This beep code consists of a single long beep followed by two short beeps. Any other beeps are probably a RAM (Random Access Memory) problem.Click to expand...

I am having allot of trouble with my Nvidia GeForce 2 MX card. Each time windowz boots it wont load the card, I get an error code 10 in the display properties in device manager.

I can reinstall the driver, it loads and the card runs fine until I restart, then it is not loaded again and I have to do this again, each reboot of the system. This started a day ago. I have updated the drivers from Nvidia, downloaded the recommended driver from MS site, restored original drivers from disk (not certified, so I removed them and went to the manufacturers updated again.)

I am completely stumped, can anyone think of why the drivers dont stay, and the device wont start when windows is started?

I have an old Windows 98 SE computer, and I reinstalled Windows without making a backup of all the drivers. (stupid, I know... I wasn't really thinking about what I was doing)

A friend built the computer for us a long time ago and upgraded a lot of it a few years ago. It has an ECS L7VMM3 motherboard and an ASUS V8170 MAGIC graphics/video card. The motherboard has an onboard VGA port, which is what my monitor is connected to. I am trying to install the driver for the graphics card, but I'm having trouble doing so.

It's obvious that it isn't working, mostly because when I plug the monitor into the card it doesn't work. I tried downloading the graphic card's driver from the ASUS website, but whenever I try to install it (by right clicking on the desktop, choosing properties>advanced, then changing the driver), I think it changes the driver for the onboard graphics rather than the graphics card, because it still doesn't work.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might get my graphics card to be recognized?

The video card may have software that needs to be installed as well as the drivers to ensure correct functioning. Asus may provide this software for you to download, as well as additional support on thier website. Also, is it listed in the device manager ?

I am having a problem with memory cards (SD) contents being recognized on a Windows 7 Pro machine. I am using an internal card reader, and have virtually eliminated it being a hardware problem because a new replacement unit gives the same results.
The first time a card is placed in the reader after the computer is booted, the card is recognized but not the contents. In Windows Explorer, the card is designated "Removable Disk (H)". When I attempt to navigate to the contents, a window opens titled "Insert Disk", prompting that a disk be inserted into the drive. The card is already in the slot.
I can correct this on subsequent card insertions by clicking on the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" icon in the system tray. When clicking on the specified card/device (only item showing) I am prompted that "Removable Dish (H)" is currently in use". There are no applications open including Windows Explorer. Of the choices given, (Cancel, Try Again and Continue) selecting Continue results in an indication that it is safe to remove the hardware.
When I remove the card and replace it, I don't get the expected Autoplay prompt, but when I open Windows Explorer the disk shows with the same drive designation, but this time with the volume showing instead of "Removable Disk". I can then navigate and find files and folders on the card.

I kept both in at same time, but i couldn't get the GTX460 to be recognized in Device Manager. I put in the drivers DVD that came with it and it just told me that I needed to "install the VGA asus card"... so i guess it's not recognized at all.

But the fan is spinning on the card and the 9500 GT works flawlessly. There are no beeps when i turn computer on...

I'm not really sure how to troubleshoot from here to get it to work...

I would try to find the resolution before posting, but Windows 7 doesn't recognize my graphics card and i forgot which one it is i had, so i couldn't search for the exact model amongst the forums.

I have a Dell XPS M1530 which came pre-installed with Windows Vista. When i upgraded a couple of days ago to Windows 7, most of my video games stopped working giving me errors that, after i looked them up, refer to problems with the graphics. I looked up solutions and most said to get the most recent driver.

I tried automatically updating the driver for my graphics card through the device manager, but it said i already have the best/most recent driver installed. My question is: How do i find out which graphics card i actually have (currently it says i have a Standard VGA Graphics Adapter), and where can i find the driver for it to get my games to work. Also, my report from the directx diagnostic tool returns the following (if this helps).

Alright everyone... I'm always helping out... now i'm asking for help...

I've dual booted windows 7 onto my computer on a spare hdd... It automatically found most of the drivers for my computer when I hooked it up to the internet so i'm good there...

HOWEVER... I put in my sprint air card (595u) and nothing happens... as if i've never plugged it in... not even so much as "new hardware found"...

I've installed both wwan controller softwares that sprint offers for the air card but nothing... it never recognizes that it's being plugged in...

any ideas? I know it's not a corrupt OS, it was just installed, lol, and it recognizes other things... just not the air card...

maybe it's not compatible with windows 7 yet?

A:Air card not recognized on Windows 7

From this link:

This thread will disuss the compatibility between Windows 7 beta and the Sierra Wireless 595 USB EVDO Modem (also called the 595U).

If you a problem OR a solution for win7, please post it to this thread to share with others.
and the answer was:

FIRST be connected to the internet. WIFI ethernet dialup whatever.

Install Sprint Smartview
it will say it doesn't recognize operating system... go ahead and let it finish then restart.

Then install the driver from sierra wireless at the address below

You need to be connected to the internet so that it can download drivers from MS During these installs.

Plug in your card and start Smartview

I hope that works.

Removing the card again and reinserting it using the same procedure the second time results in the Autoplay window opening and... Read more

Today, I downloaded and installed build 7100 of Windows 7 after a great experience with build 7000. However, I do the WEI and it tells me I have no graphics card, even though I do. It's an older 128MB ATI Mobility RADEON X1400, and it ran Aero just fine with build 7000 with no problems. Should I try using a newer driver, or something else?

A:Graphics card not recognized

I have a similar setup and similar conditions. Aero ran just fine under 7000 now 7100 is telling me that I have standard VGA card. I have tried everything from Vista OS drivers to compatibility mode and Windows Update.
If there is anyway with knowledge on how to fix please update!

Hey all. My video card recently started failing so I went and picked up an ATi HD4650. I turned off onboard video but it's not recognizing the new card. Uninstalled all the old drivers and even loaded the new ones, but still no luck. I went to Device Manager and searched for hardware changes but nothing came up.

There is power to the card as the fan is spinning.

My motherboard has an nforce chipset, but still uses a PCI-e slot. The mobo is a Gigabyte GA-M61PME-S2. Anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Forgot to mention I'm on Windows XP Sp2 64bit

I just did a clean install of win 98 on this Dell Dimension XPS R350. It was previously running Win 2000. The video was excellent at 32 bit. Now for some reason all I can get is 16 or 2 colors. Device Mgr says the display adapter is STD PCI graphics adapter [VGA]. The card that is installed is a Diamond Multimedia inc. -- Fire GL 1000 Pro. I have the drivers for the card but I think the card is just not being recognized. If it was Id be able to install the correct drivers. Ive tried removing the adpater in Device mgr but on a reboot it just wants to install the same VGA adapter. Ive gone into system config and checked around but didnt find anything even though I dont know what Im looking for. I did the system reset with the M/B jumper and then put all the settings bac to default.
What am I doing wrong here???

A:Video card is not recognized

Wait why did you go from Windows 2000 back to Win 98? Does the Video Card support Win 98, does it have drivers for that OS? You get 16 to 2 colors because of the driver isn't the right one or it go corrupted. It needs to be re-installed again.. Remove the old ones then install the new one.

My SD Memory card is not being recognized in my computer or in my camera. It used to work just fine. Other cards are being recognized as normal. I assume this means it is a problem with the card, but I have tons of pictures on there that I have not taken off the card yet. If there is some way the card can possibly be fixed, that would be the best option, but if not, is there any way I can at least get the pictures off the card before trashing it?
Thank you.

A:SD card not recognized. Is it fixable?

This may sound like a dumb question; however, have you wiped off the connectors? Outside of physical damage and improper use, there are few things that can cause it to stop working.

This can happen because of the windows hybrid shutdown. Try to use reboot instead of shutdown and manual power-on. If this does not work, try to shut down your Notebook and go directly into the bios. Then perform a reboot. It should detect your card after some tries.

Windows lost the PCMCIA slot drivers maybe?

Try uninstalling your PCMCIA controllers in Device Manager and letting Windows redetect them after a restart.

Hello, I'm back

I have two hard drives and both of them have Windows XP installed on them.. I cannot access my account on the bigger hard drive nor can I for some reason reinstall it on either of them due to a problem with the bios or whatever. So I'm currently running with the small hard drive which still works and all, but it seems as though my sound card is not being recognized. For example, I have my speakers plugged in and nothing is going through.. I also cannot edit the volume of sound and when I hit back space or a message appears (like someone contacting you on messenger) my computer makes a sound as if I have no sound card. On my big hard drive, my sound card works perfectly. I'm confused as to why it works on one and then doesn't work on the other..

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

A:Sound Card Not Being Recognized?

Are your sound card drivers installed on the secondary hard drive? If not find them and install them again.

As for getting your normal OS working again, you should be able to run the installed from windows no matter if the bios is recognizing the disc or not. If you provide more information on the problems with the bios and other hard disk, I would be glad to help you with that.

I have an 8gb PNY SDHC card that I use to transfer pictures between my Canon DSLR and my Dell XPS m1530 laptop, which runs Win 7 Pro. I take pictures with the camera, pull out the card, pop it into my laptop's built-in card reader, and download the images. The card/camera/laptop setup has worked great for me over the past few months.

Long story short, I took some pictures with the camera this morning and tried to get my desktop computer (running windows xp media center) to read the card with it's own built-in reader. Nothing. The card doesn't even get recognized and whenever I click on the correct drive in 'My computer' the window freezes. So I try putting it in a USB card reader...and it worked! But as soon as I tried to get the card to read on my windows 7 laptop, it stopped working completely. Now it won't read on either computer, or the camera. It's as if I'm not plugging in anything at all! I've tried restarting both machines, but it's no use. I can't even format it from my camera. I'm at a total loss here.

I've got more than 400 images on the card that I really want to save here...can anyone help me?

A:Help! SD card no longer recognized!

Hi -

The card may be bad. If you can read it with USB reader, I would copy the images off the SD card, get a new one and see if it works in the various systems.

I've been using an integrated video card for a while, then i figured it's time to buy a new GPU. So I've bought a Gainward GeForce GT 610 2GB. I installed it but it didn't work at the beginning... Then I've found something telling me that i have to disable the onboard card first. I went to BIOS and I set it to PCI Ex. The new GPu worked fine for about 3 days, then started showing the No Signal error again ( shows "No Signal" message for 4-5 times then the screen goes black and the led turns orange), so i tried switching to PCi Ex again from BIOS but this time won't work. I don't know what the problem may be since the card was working fine yesterday. Any suggestions?

Hi all,

I'm really glad I stumbled across this forum whilst on a mad scramble to find an answer to my question.

I installed the 7022 x86 version of Windows 7. Everything installed fine and there were driver issues which I anticipated but my Ethernet port is not working on W7 or any other OS for that matter.

It?s a very strange situation. After it was not seen I W7 I booted from my 2nd drive which has Vista on it and it was not seen there so I booted from my XP drive and it was not seen on there either.....

I have re-downloaded all the drivers for each version of the OS but none are making the NIC discoverable.

I have an nVidia 680i SLi & I am using the on board port.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would love to get into W7 and start using it fully.

Thanks very much.

I just upgraded my computer to Windows 7 Pro, added more RAM and a new HD.
MB: XFX MG-63Mi-7159 GeForce 7150 Socket 775 MB (not new, didn't replace)
VC: Nvidia FX 5500 (not replaced either)

error message: need a newer video card or one that is direct 3D compatible. Tried the "hot fix" but message said it wouldn't work on my system.

Tried to load the MB drivers but got a similar message. Is it the Windows 7 Pro maybe?

Need suggestion on a relatively inexpensive VC to replace the old one. I don't do so much gaming. The techs at this forum gave me a shopping list to build my own computer, which I did with no problems.

Recently ran a bunch of malware / antivirus programs to get rid of a zeroaccess trojan. (malwarebytes, mcafee, cccleanter, eset, hitman). Was finally able to get rid of the viruses in the services.exe and desktop.ini files. However once they were cleaned and got everything back to normal, I'm having problems with my video card being recognized by anything. Only recognizing the Intel® and not my Nvidia gtx 560M. It's not listed on the dxdiag page, not showing up as a selectable option for The Elder Scrolls Skyrim. Was working fine a few hours ago. It's listed under device manager just not showing up anywhere else. Just wondering if getting rid of those viruses might have deleted some needed .dll or something. Already tried re-installing the updated drivers and updated my bios. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Video Card not recognized

Hi tbcollins,I understand that your card is not being recognized correctly. This could have been from the payload of the malware. The malware may have deleted the driver files, or registry entries. Could you please press (Windows+R) and type "mmc devmgmt.msc" then locate your Nvidia GTX 560M under (Display Adapters >>Your Card) if it is there, and has a yellow or red exclamation mark or X mark, then right click the device and select "Properties" and copy the contents in "Device Status" in this forum using the <> button at the top of the editor. If there is no device, please report. Also, because this is a mobile graphics card, it indicates that you are using a laptop. Could you please specify which laptop you are currently using so I can better identify the issue?

Hi there folks,

Today I went out happy to buy my new graphics card (Nvidia 9600GT) -> this was an overclocked version (by Nvidia) so it was called the 9600OC.
I came home (still happy) took out the old (and dusted) 7600GS and replaced it with my shining beauty. I fired up my pc and I got a monitor message saying -> No Signal (then my happyness was gone)! I tried plugging it into another monitor, still no signal, so I used my onboard Graph Card and I had an image again, I went to device manager in the control panel and I couldn't find my new Graph card (It was still in my PCI Express thingy), I tried installing the drivers which came with the box and still nothing (after rebooting of course).
How can I resolve this?

Thanks alot,

I don't have access to any of my optical drives or card reader. The computer sees them, but when I try to access them an "Access Denied" error is returned.

I have tried uninstalling the drives, and uninstalling the IDE controller but no joy. Even an external USB DVD drive returns the same error. I also used the system restore to load a fresh copy of Windows, still no joy.

Recently I changed my AV to Avira from AVG. It picked up a trojan, which I had it delete: The report;

Does it work normally without lightscribe?
Disconnet them, one at a time, and run the computer without one until you narrow it down.
Isolate the problem by reducing your component set to the minimum, then adding devices back in, one at a time.
This is a common symptom of the early stage of some eMachine motherboard failures, so look your board over very carefully for brown or copper tinged rainbow effects on the motherboard along any circuit lines. Do the sniff test for unusual flavors.

My parents use an SD card with their Casio digital camera. Anyhow upon arriving at a store to get some pics printed, the card reader at the store would not recognize the card. They then put the card back into the camera and the camera does not recognize it either. Apparently right before they went into the store to make the prints they were looking through the pics on the camera and deleting what they didn't want, so it seemed to be working fine, then all of a sudden not.

They gave me the card. I have a media reader on my pc and I tried putting the card in while watching the explorer window. My G drive (media reader) recognizes that something was inserted but it does not recognize the contents of the card, it asks me if I want to format the drive when I click on it. So, three questions:

1) What's going on?
2) Can I rescue the pics on the card now?
3) If not, will formatting the card enable me to be able to use it again, even though all will be deleted?

Thanks in advance.
