printed picture colour quality poor

Q: printed picture colour quality poor

I have a cannon mp210 all in one printer, scanner. When placing actual photos into the machine to be scanned then printed they come out perfectly fine but when I try to print pictures already imported onto my computer they come out very faint/light. The computer keeps saying the ink levels are low which is incorrect as I have just put in new ones. I beleive this is a issue to do with the colour settings installed on windows 7 as our pictures print out fine when the printer is connected to our lap top. If anyone could help me with changing the colour settings that would be great. Thank you

A: printed picture colour quality poor

Have you made adjustments to the paper type and print quality?

A:Picture Quality Poor

You are running Sympatico Dial-up Accelerator, which drastically compresses all graphic content viewed over the internet.

Hence your picture quality has suffered. You cannot have both a "faster internet experience" and higher quality web graphics. Choose one or the other....

Also you should not be running HiJackThis from a Temp directory if you want to be able to undo any changes, install and run it from a different directory.

I have connected this HP laptop with HDMI and the picture quality on the monitor is really poor - colours are all wrong and text is pixellated.  Do I need to install drivers onto the laptop for the monitor? I have a Dell XPS 630I, 4GB Ram, Intel Core 2 Duo, running Vista Home Premium. It has a dedicated Dell NVidia GeForce 9800 GT video graphics card installed. In the last couple of days my video display has become very poor. The screen either has a real fuzzy look, or it will be clear but has 4 black vertical bars on the screen. The system will lock up sometimes requiring a hard reboot. And my NVidia Control Panel will not open. In my 'Problems Reports and Solutions' screen I have the following recent errors listed.

I have tried updating my video drivers, removed and reconnected my video card to ensure proper seating, but I'm still unable to open my NVidia control panel. I have also tried using the second port on my video card to see if that would solve the issue to no avail.

Is there a way to test if this is my video card that just needs replaced, or if it is something entirely different? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello.

I seriously need help with my PC. I've reinstalled Windows XP and Service Pack 2, and I can't chnge the Screen resolution or the colour quality. It sucks. The resolution stays at 800x600, the lowest possible, and the colour quality stays at 8 bit. I think I have a ATI 128 MB DDR Radeon 9800 Pro. I dunno whether thats a driver or what. And I also don't know my graphics card, or whether that will help at all.

I would swear at this point but I'm too young.

Oh but I'll use this instead

Has anyone got any help for me that I can understand. I'm 14 but I still can understand most computer talk.

Anyway thanks very much for reading all this crap and please try not to point out all my spelling mistakes.

A:[resolved]Help with resolution and colour and colour quality??.. anyone??

Heya, welcome to the forums

Okay, it has to do with your drivers. Go to ATI's website and find your driver.

Here's the link

http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html

Please download and install both the Control Center as well as the Display driver. Then restart your computer and try to change the resolution.

Cheers!

My son was given a laptop for his birthday last year and it has a cracked hinge.
After much research I've learned that this is a very common problem in this laptop. We called customer care center 2 different times and stayed on the phone for at least an hour each time. We were told a box would be sent out for repair. His laptop was still under the 1yr warranty at this time.
Today, we called again to get some answers and they have no record of us calling. (Surprise, surprise!) We still have not received any return box and his warranty has now, of course, expired.
I will never purchase another Dell product again in my life! Also I'll warn everyone I know to stay far away from your products.

A 16 yr old kid has a "new" computer that he uses a stack of books to prop the screen to use his $400 laptop! (because of a cheap screws and plastic casing)
This is unacceptable and shame on you Dell!

She has slimmed right down...... lol I have been struggling with this problem for quite a while now, have asked everyone who comes within two feet of me and no ones knows how to fix this or what is even causing it. I know someone here will know. I have never had a problem that this site has not been able to fix for me. : ) Thanks, in advance.

Oh yes, and new printer is an Epson 835 al-in-one and my old one is an HP photosmart 2575

From Windows Answers:

I believe it is a problem with the "photowiz.dll" file in system32. It is version 6.x.xxxx.xxxx. I found an older version of this file, had to change the attributes and permissions of the file to allow it to be changed. I renamed it with an "dlx" extension and then copied a version 5.1 photowiz.dll to system32 and the print wizard works again! The site I got the file from is: http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/P/photowiz.dll/5.1.2600.2180/download.html

When I download still images from my camcorder on to my computer, the colours look very dull and lifeless-very different from how they look on the LCD screen of the camcorder. Is there any software that could improve image quality?

Thanks-this is a great site.

A:colour quality

If you just want to pep up the image a little, Irfanview is simple: www.irfanview.com It is primarily a viewer, but it has some tools for tweaking an image.

This is freeware that will do a better job: http://www.freewarefiles.com/programs.php?ProgramID=1012&categoryid=3&subcategoryid=36 It is a lite version if their shareware program, which is excellent for the price. The freeware has the things you need like histogram and saturation that Irfanview lacks. You can download the manual for the full version at their site.

If you plan on spending the time to really learn photo editing and donít want to spend any money on a program, Gimp is now available for Windows. It isnít easy to learn, but has the capabilities of a good intermediate graphics editor: http://www.gimp.org/~tml/gimp/win32/downloads.html

These are also free and will do a nice job:
http://www.ab.wakwak.com/~knight/
http://www.serif.com/photoplus5/index.asp

If you want to buy an intermediate image editor, Uleadís PhotoImpact and Jasic Paint Shop Pro are both excellent. From the reviews Iíve read PhotoImpact is easier to learn and at least as full featured compared to Paint Shop Pro. They both have 30 day free trials if you want to try them:

Welcome to TSF....

Since windows was re-installed the thing that has to be done is to install all of the special drivers like chipset, buss, network, audio, video and others, they can be installed in any order you wish and can be found on the system recovery disk set for the computer if it is an OEM like Compaq, Dell etc. or if you do not have a recovery disk set the drivers can be found on the manufacturers web site for either the motherboard or the manufacturer of the computers web site. You can download these drivers and burn to a CD-R and then install those following instructions to reboot when asked.

hello, you probably get this all the time, but some pictures i download from the net are small, then when i want to blow them up to a viewable size, they are way too blurry. if i wan to print them out, will they still be blurry, and if so, are there any really good programs that would create a sharper, more focused picture.

A:poor quality

Most photos on the Internet are optimized to be as small a number as possible of bytes of information and still look acceptable on your monitor.

The reason is to minimize download times for web pages. So most pictures from the web are not suitable for enlarging or printing.

You can right click a picture and click on properties to see how many KB the picture is before you even download it. By experimenting you can up with a number you feel will enlarge enough for your purposes and make acceptable prints.

I include many pictures from the web in greeting cards I create. As long as you keep them small they can be fine for that purpose.

You need to download the correct viedo drivers for her video card.

The first thing you need to do is idetnify the video card in question. Then download the drivers for that card. If you need help identifying the video card please post the make and model of the PC if its a storebought PC. If its home built you either have to open it up or run something like Everest to get the information.

I have a Minolta magicolor 3100 (1200x1200dpi) laser printer that works just fine for everything except PHOTOS. I have downloaded and installed the latest driver from the Minolta website with no improvement. I am using Adobe Photo Shop 3.0. The test pictures that the printer produces are much sharper than anything I can print from Adobe. My jpeg files are 500K or greater and the pictures look great on the monitor. I have also tried printing from the Cannon software that came with the camera, but the results are the same. Minolta tech support is now saying that this may be the best I can expect. How can a 1200 x 1200 dpi be of such poor quality for photos? This seems incredible to me.
Any help would be appreciated.

A:Poor Quality Videos

those videos usually arent the greatest in quality to begin with, you are compressing/rendering/encoding the video again which will remove a little bit of quality everytime, even at higher settings. I'm sorry I have never used the same program you are using, and instead just giving a basics of what I have found to be true when I have made my videos

Hello guys,
I just recently purchased an Acer Aspire X1700, which I now regret. Anyway, I am very disappointed in the sound quality of the system. After toying with the idea of replacing the sound card, I found out that this computer is not really upgradeable, and it looks as though the sound card cannot be replaced in this system, because of it's special configuration. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could make the sound better, if I am not able to change anything out? RIght now all music and video sounds very tinny.

Sounds like it could be a setting in Chrome OS. I read on another forum users reporting that turning off Ok Google helped. Can you try this and see if it helps?

Open Google Chrome.
In the top right corner, click the Chrome menu  > Settings.
In the "Search" section, check Enable "Ok Google" to start a voice search. To turn Ok Google off, uncheck this box.
If you're on a Chromebook, you may be asked to turn on the Voice & Audio Activity setting.
Under Enable "Ok Google" to start a voice search, you'll see where you can use "Ok Google." In Chrome, it's usually on google.com or a new tab. On some Chromebooks, you can say "Ok Google" from any page if your screen is on and unlocked.

I downgraded from Vista to XP a couple months ago, but haven't had the oppurtunity to play with my webcam/audio feature until now. I'm on an Acer Aspire 5630 Laptop, with a built in cam and mic.

I had a great audio quality on Vista. Now suddenly my audio quality is very poor... not so much in the fact that it doesn't sound good, but that you can barely hear it.

Again, it worked great on Vista.

Now I've tried playing with all the settings... I've spent a lot of time tweaking things, but nothing fixes it. I think it may have something to do with the gay RealTek Audio Manager (which I'd like to get rid of, but don't know how). My audio quality is just very, very muffled and low-toned.

In Master Volume, I am using advanced settings and I have everything turned up full blast. In the mic's advanced settings, Bass and Treble are both set to as low as possible, and it doesn't allow me to move them or change them.

I know absolutely nothing about Audio. I know that my speaker set up has a subwoofer. That it connects to the back of my computer through a black, green and orange 3-way spliced cable. I know I took the computer apart to move it to a new case and that's when it started. I use the on board sound card to an ASUS A8N32 SLI board with the proper sound driver.

The assistance feature for the less informed, like myself, says there's something wrong with my green cable. There doesn't seem to be any tears or weak connections.

As for the problem itself. Sound is mildly distorted. There's severe bass tones? where there shouldn't be. Half of the sounds from 3d games like Oblivion, do not register.

A:Poor quality Audio

You should have a Realtek Aux console. Start/Programs/Realtek===> some drop down menu. In there you can set-up your speakers for 2.1, 3.1, 5.1 etc. also there should be a graphics equalizer where you can set base or there can be a tab just for setting how much sub-woofer (volume and cross-over frequency) I set my cross-over at 60Hz.

You need to tell it how many speakers you have, then set your sub-woofer and you should be ok.

My laptop has excellent quality audio on cd's, streaming videos, games, and everything else EXCEPT DVD's. It used to play the sound normally but suddenly it started to skip, echo and sounds 'tinny'. The video on the DVD's still plays fine, so it is just the audio that seems to be messed up. Like I say, the audio on everything else still works absolutely fine.
I contacted Acer about the problem and they said I should just reset the laptop and start over, but since most of the programs on the laptop were put on at the factory (including windows) if I reset it then I won't have the disks to put all the programs back on. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Everyone,

I have an issue with my printer and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how I go about fixing it.

I have Canon BJC-4200SP, it's a few years old but still does the job. Today though it has been playing up. I have been using it for work purposes for a while now, printing out customer receipts - so I use the highest quality option.

I had to change the ink today though, I've actually changed the cartridge twice now to try and fix it but what is happening is that I am getting this poor printout quality. You know how you get those white lines through the text and lines for tables come out squiggly and that. That's the only way I can describe the problem really.

Is it that I changed the cartrigde and it needs a few prints before the ink settles. Or is it time for a new printer? I dusted everything and cleaned as much as I could as well. Even did all those printer head cleaning things in maintanence.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

A:Poor Print Quality

In your Canon software there should be some way for you to calibrate your ink cartridge. That's what it sounds like to me. Before you calibrate it, I would also do a clean print heads as well. If you don't have Canon software installed, just go to Canon's website, www.canon.com , and see if you can download the drivers from there. GOOD LUCK!

Are you loading high quality videos?
If that's the case you most likely have the wrong codecs installed.
Check out www.matroska.org. Or install the VLC player, it's a player for almost any OS in existence, I believe, complete with the essential codecs (including Matroska, I think).

im sure someone on here with their infinate wisdom will have an answer for this.

I recently just bought a new 40" samsung LCD and thought I would utilise my old PC as a media centre pc. It has a 2.6Ghz Pentium, 1GB Ram, 200GB HDD and a 128MB 6600GT. I was going to buy a nice new sound card to get digital, but I dont see the point if the video quality is poor.

Now, on media centre in the setup, it plays a clip to set your monitor up and the quality is perfect. However, when I play a dvd directly from the dvd player or HDD,.. the quality is degraded to say the least.

I've downloaded my graphics drivers and various codecs, divx, xdvd, and a few others but it doesnt seem to have made any difference.

Does anyone know why this may be?

Thank you.

For me... when I'm at the near end of my song it just stops for two seconds and makes a crackling sound. What is this? What does it mean? How can I stop it from happening?

A:Poor sound quality

Welcome
The fist step is to make sure that your audio driver is up to date and not corrupted
Go to search
type device manager
In device manger look for any yellow markers
Then make sure audio driver is up to date.

I recently upgraded my SattellitePro 4300 laptop, increasing the ram and HDD. This required a reload of operating system (WIN 2000 Pro) and all drivers and software.
Now the sound coming from the speakers or headphones, no matter what the source (CD's, MP3, or WAV files) sound like an old scratched record, with a "click" every 3 seconds. This is more noticable with loud music, and seems to be an "break" in the sound continuity every 3 seconds, just for a small period, perhaps less than a tenth of a second.
I have done all the obvious things (updated sound drivers, etc.) but still the problem remains. All sound output experiences this problem.

The sound driver is Yamaha DS-XG.

Any suggestions what else I could try?

A:Poor Sound Quality

Well, maybe "fixed" is a little strong.

Not sure what I have done, but it did not include any more drivers, but merely changes to the settings and today, after I powered up this morning, the sounds is working without those annoying "scratched vinyl" simulations.

I'll have to mark this one up as "smoke and mirrors".

When I connect my CB3-111 to my Sony bluetooth speaker  with WI-Fi the sound quality is pretty unbearabely poor. I know it's not the speaker because that sounds great when streaming off my smart phone. Any ideas why??

A:Poor Wi-Fi Speaker quality with CB#-111

I really hope someone here can offer me some help with this!

I've built a small htpc with a HauupaugePVR 500 Tunerand connected it (via my motherboards HDMI) to a Sony 40w4500 LCD.

The tuner is connected to my SAGAM set top box via a SCART to phono adaptor with s-video. There's no other way to connect the two together as my stb only has the following connections,
Digital tv broadcasts via a cable Sagam stb with the following connections,
Audio - S/PDIF, Right and Left audio connectors.
Video - HDMI connector, Y, Pb and Pr?
The only other connections available are 2 Scart sockets one labeled TV and the other VCR.

I've got a s-video lead plugged into the tuner card and the end of it plugged into the adaptor and the then the adaptor into the stb tv SCART socket.

With all this done I'm geting a pictures but is pretty bad. Quite fuzzy with faceting and stripy looking. When I use the phono video input it improves but it's still not a patch on simply connecting the cable box straight to the tv via scart.

Could someone tell me why my picture is so poor? Surely it's not supposed to be like this? The resolution I'm using is 1280x720 and I'm running Vista Ultimate. Could it be that the signal from my cable supplier is digital or something?

Any help greatly appreciated.

I am the proud owner of a 250 g5 notebook for roughly a month now. Everything is working perfect except for the fact that when i want to connect my notebook to my audio setup via the aux port, the quality is very poor. I have tested this on different speakers and the quality sounds way worse than my phone, tv, old computer or any other device with an auxilary output. I have installed new Realtek drivers, but this does not seem to solve the problem. I hope that someone can help me out here.

Your system is not compatible for Windows 7 since there is no audio drivers for Windows 7. If the system is compatible with Windows Vista or XP I recommend sticking with that.

Have you set it to its native resolution? LCD's unlike crt monitors have one native resolution at which they look best.

Just recently when I try to watch DVD's on my laptop the picture quality is not very good, it seems to be little bit blurry and streakes of lines are around moving things and the red colours seem to be bright and weird like high contrast.. I have tried to change the colour settings and other settings but nothing has worked, I also changed the display colours setting from 32bit to 16bit as was suggested by others. I've reinstalled myATI X600 display driver but this did not work. I have used Intervideo DVD, PowerDVD and Nero 7 Premier DVD player but the same problem exists.
Please Help !!!!!

A:poor dvd playback quality

This sounds more like an issue with the DVD drive or possibly the interface to the laptop. Have you tried playing a video that's on the hard disk, copy one over on a network connection and see if the problem still exists.

If you know what I'm talking about, please tell me how to stop this nonsense .

A:I'm Having Poor Audio Quality!

How about more details?

On 1 song or all songs?

Always at the same point in a given song?

On mp3s, waves, or any file format?

Is this a recent development?

What player are you using?

If it's a recent development and everything was fine at one time, how has your PC been altered since everything was fine? New hardware? Software updates?

Etcetera. More info needed.

I just bought a Dell 1721 laptop the audio driver is SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC... Im assuming that means that its built into the motherboard... I used to be quite happy with the way everything sounded till I bought some SE210's by Shure... Now it does not sound very good... I have plugged the headphones into my brothers iMac and they sound great... What can I do to make the audio sound better and more alive... It sounds very flat and feels like low on power... At low volume levels there is no bass... I turn up the bass on wmp11 and all it does is almost mute the highs when the bass hits... Leads me to think there is not enough power going to the jack to support both.... I can turn it up quite loud and the bass sounds great if i wanted to go deaf in a week but the rest is still lifeless.... I am hoping there is some settings that need adjusting since i dont think i can install anything internally and dont know of any other fixes... (wanting better graphics also but dont think i can change that)

A:Poor sound quality...

Yes you are right..its inbuilt into the motherboard. All laptops are like that. You could try and external soundcard or a gadget from Creative using its crystallizer software. Heres the link:

Creative Xmod

Hope that helps. Says its built to improve onboard sound like your problem

I had a large music collection on my old system (XP sp2). After a motherboard death, I pulled the hard drive and installed it as a slave in my new system. (Presario SR1724NX).
The sound quality is very poor. Sounds echo, and some of the vocal tracks are almost inaudible.
I have tried Media Player 10 and RealPlayer and both sound alike.
I am thinking the Sound Card is bad, but before I buy a new one I am hoping someone will have some suggestions.
Also recommendations for a good sound card and speakers are welcome. I don't have a "Golden Ear", but I would like it to sound good.

Thanks

First thing to do is try uninstalling and re-installing the sound card drivers.

VCL player, i messed with the settings and were able to make the videos play perfect, but it seems to be a struggle in every player i encounter. Playing youtube videos is my biggest concern. Only 1080p will play perfect. All others videos just are distorted.

Hi friends:

I have an HP dv5-1002nr laptop. Seven days ago, I upgraded from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7. I updated all drivers, per the HP support site, and all seems to be working really good.

The only issue is when viewing downloaded or other videos that are in on my pc (no problem with online viewing or DVDs). The videos are fuzzy/with blocks, pixelated. This is especially true the bigger I make the viewing screen. Aweful.

I have done much googling, and tweaking. I've used a number of video players. Many seem to have the problem, but I've been able to get no solution.

Please help. This is really a major issue for me.

Thanks,
Hiram

Not sure which forum to use for this...Here goes... I've had this nagging problem on my computer for some time. I'll take a look at a streaming video to see new games or football highlights or whatever, and, I use Windows Media Player or Real Player and on both the picture is so small it's ridiculous in this day and age! And, on both, the video will start and then abruptly stop and I have to wait for it to reconnect with some mysterious server or something. The point being, the video quality is usually terrible and a lousy 20-30 second video takes a half hour to view! My computer is supposed to be top-notch, yet it's no fun using those two media players. What gives? I'm no computer whiz. I had mine built for me so I could play games and use my fancy art programs. How do I get the video large enough so I don't have to squint to try and see it and, how do I improve the performance of both Real Player and Windows Media Player? Seems to me that in this day and age, it's incredibly poor quality.
My computer specs are as follows:
Intel Computer
2.2 Ghz CPU
1GB Ram
160 GB HD; split into two 80 GB HD's (C and D)
Nividia 64 MB Graphics Card

You'd think with all that, that I'd get excellent quality. On DVD's it's fine, but streaming videos are terrible. Any suggestions as to what I can do to improve/enlarge them so I can at least SEE them? Thanks for any help

A:Poor quality of streaming videos

First of all make sure you have the updated versions of both. Secondly you can usually change the size by right clicking and setting the size or by clicking the view menu. Also check your display settings on the desktop by right clicking and choosing properties.

What type of internet connection do you have-dial up, dsl, or cable?

We just purchased a HP CM1415fnw Laserjet All-in-one to replace an older Inkjet model. The Laserjet is pretty fantastic and will do about everything but shine your shoes. However...

Printing photographs either directly from a high res jpeg or as scanned is.. well, poor. Looks like blotchy old You-tube quality pics.

There's no reason to think the printer is faulty since text and graphics from the web print fine. I recognize the color resolution on this thing is only 1200 by 1200 but that's similar to our old inkjet and it prints excellent quality pictures.

Anyone have any suggestions with respect to how to improve this poor photo quality or at least how to understand why it is what it is?

Thanks

A:Poor HP Laserjet Photo Quality

You do realize that Laser printers will rarely give the Picture quality that an inkjet will.

Hi everyone,

I just burned my first svcd with Nero using whatever specs were automatically set up for producing the cd. Unfortunately it is the same quality as my vcd. I know that a svcd should be much better then the vcd. The video just fit onto the disc being 695 mb on a 700 mg disc. I understand the more space on a disc, the better. Is this why it looked so poor?

Bonus questions ...I have been eagerly waiting to get this JVC SVCD player and now I wonder if I should return it? I also read at VCDHELP that I can code SVCD's to be seen by your standalone dvd/vcd player as a vcd. Does that mean I could use TMPGenc to encode my svcds as vcds and not have to buy this new svcd player and just do as well with a vcd/dvd player?

Thanks,

Hi,

I just bought a new 64 bit computer with 4GB RAM and 3.1 GHz AMD Athlon64 AM2 Dual Core 6000+. Also got Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit. But my problem is that the sound is awful, it sounds like tapes in a cassette player when the batteries are running down, with added dropouts and crackles, especially when I minimise the media player when playing audio files, (i've tiried WMP, VLC, Zoom and WinAmp). Any videos I stream on the net also sound like this. AVI's also have poor sound quality and can also be "sticky" the picture not running smoothly.
My soundcard is fine, i've run different ones on the machine and they all sound like this, my amp, cables and speakers are working perfectly too. I never use more than 1.5GB RAM and about 20% of the CPU according to TaskManager.
I think it's a problem with Vista 64 but can't get anywhere with MS, and my usual Google searches on the problem have proved fruitless.
Please Help!
Thanks in advance
Jamie

My soundcard is fine, i've run different ones on the machine and they all sound like this, my amp, cables and speakers are working perfectly too. I never use more than 1.5GB RAM and about 20% of the CPU according to TaskManager.
I think it's a problem with Vista 64 but can't get anywhere with MS, and my usual Google searches on the problem have proved fruitless.
Please Help!
Thanks in advance
Jamie

ok i have had this problem before as well, its nothing bad, in fact its something built into vista to stop your speakers blowing, what you need to do is reduce the volume in windows and use the volume on the amplifier or speaker set, heres a demonstration of what i mean....
when your volume reaches a certain level, you will hear distortion and see the grey bar go past the marker on the sound devices (1st picture),
to fix the problem, all you need to do is reduce the... Read more

I have recently purchased a new HP laptop but the sound is really terrible - lots of reverb and nothing is clear - very disappointed as a big reason for purchasing this laptop was the supposedly amazing sound technology provided by the Bang & Olufsen speakers! Please can someone advise how to fix this or is it just faulty?

I can't get any bass on my audio and my Beats control panel isn't working.  I'm running Windows 8.1.  Is it a driver issue?

A:Poor sound quality on Beats laptop

Hi @henry8181 , Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP Notebook and having issues with the sound on Windows 8.1. The Microsoft Sound Troubleshooter will go through some settings and will fix it automatically. The first thing to try is this HP support document No Sound from Speakers. It has a number of good troubleshooting steps including using the built-in Windows troubleshooter.Another solution is to uninstall the driver manually then force Windows to reinstall it. Follow the steps below to do that. Open Device Manager and open Sound, video and game controller section.Right click on your audio driver and select Uninstall.Restart the computer. Windows will then force in the driver on startup. I would be happy to assist if needed as there are many models of HP I would need the model number. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? Please let me know. Thanks.

My audio sounds slightly distorted (especially the high frequencies) while listening to MP3's at a normal listening volume. (and thereís some air noise, only when a song is playing)

A) The Source CD had copy guard protection, which distorts sound quality when transferred to a computer.

B) The songs were recorded at too low of a quality, because the person who made them was frugal with HDD space.

C) The sound card is of poor quality, and isn't "rendering" the sounds correctly.
If "C" is correct as I suspect, what sound card would you recommend?

I listen to Music, and watch DVD's on my system. I'm not really into gamming. I'm looking for high quality, and willing to pay a little more for it.

I would like Dolby 5.1 SS support.

I have heard that Audiogy (SP?) is pretty good.... thereís like 8 different grades of it though, so Iím a bit unsure of which is right for me.

Any help is greatly appreciated as usual.

A:Poor audio quality - Is it the sound card?

You probably can't go wrong with the Audigy cards or any of the middle to top end Sound Blasters. The cheaper SB's give distortions- that you may be experieincing- on some mother boards. I have a little machine in the bed room with one in there and the voices sound like robots many times.

Check out Turtle Beach. They have good cards for a little money and the sound control software is pretty cool. They usually ship with mixers and custom stuff in the software bundle. I have a old Quadzilla 2 in the game machine here and it's still kicking. This one doesn't do surround sound from the CD player but the new ones do. My neighbors can hear Godsmack from across the street when I wind this one up.

Bottom line. Stay with the well known sound guys and you should do ok without having to hire a research team to compare products. Be willing to drop a couple hundred geeta on a card and you'll be in business.

Don't forget to have good speakers.

I am experiencing video glitches on some video on Youtube.

This only happens on Chrome for Windows. IE on the same computer runs it just fine, and my tablet's Youtube app handles it okay as well. Here's a link to the video in case it might help.

I tested this on Chrome v 36 m

Recently I got a new laptop, a Dell Inspiron 15R with Nvidia GeForce GT 525M. When I play my videos on this laptop however the video quality is poor, it is blurry and pixellated and is worse than my old laptop, on which all my videos were perfect. I thought it might be a codec problem so I have installed pretty much every codec pack under the sun but there has been no difference, videos still look poor in VLC, WMP, WMPC and Windows Media Centre. I also updated the driver for my video card but this did nothing.
Today I plugged my laptop into my tv using a VGA cable and not only is the video quality on the TV excellent but the video quality on my laptop also became better while plugged into the tv (although the video became squashed into the middle), so I am thinking that the problem may be due to my resolution? I have tried all the resolutions for my laptop but none have made any difference when the video is played in full screen, the video does not look as good as when it was plugged into my tv.
Any help would be appreciated on this matter, what did my tv do to make my laptop's video quality better, how can I make videos appear better on my laptop?
Thanks

A:Poor video quality on laptop but good on TV?

It may be a faulty laptop screen. Return it.

Hello,

I am having some problems while viewing video over the internet and also when using SKYPE (a particularly frustrating problem since we are living overseas).

I originally suspected some sort of spyware / malware and posted this request to the relevant section of the forum (my first reply is more descriptive than the original post). However, a reply from Ried (who reviewed my Hijackthis log) has my system being clean. Ried suggested I try this section of the forum.

This problem has not always been there - the PC worked fine for a year or two before things started to slow.

Grateful for any help.

Hi there
I have been using our other home computer and noticed that all pictures on web pages in IE are really bad quality. At first I thought it was the graphics card but I installed Firefox and the images look great in that. The machine is running XP pro and is fully updated. Is it possible something didn't install properly? I if I need to remove and re-install IE how do I do that?
Thanks!
Francesca

A:Poor quality images in Internet Explorer

If you need to reinstall or repair IE see How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP. The first thing to try is to go to Start>Run and type in sfc /scannow. This will have XP examine its own files for corruption or missing ones. You may need your XP CD during this process. If you do this be sure to go to Windows update after its done as some files may revert back to their original version.

Ok, I've got an old printer/copier/scanner Brother DCP-1000. I'm trying to learn to use it as a scanner for the first time.

I used the Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard to scan the document. It saves it as a jpg.

When I go to print, the resolution looks crappy.

The max resolution it will let me scan is 600x600 dpi. I dowloaded the new brother file to let me choose a higher res. When I tried to choose 9600, it gave me a warning that some programs may not support higher than 1200 dpi. Fine. I selected 1200 dpi.

Then when I go to use the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer to print, it only allows me to print it at 600 dpi.

Trying to isolate the problem, I viewed the document jpg image in irfanview. It looks like crap in irfanview before I print it.

I checked my printer manual, that shows max printing resolution is 600 dpi (irrespective of the fact that I can alledgedly scan at higher resolution).

Oh yeah, I tried to download Windows XP Service Pack 3... thinking that might be the problem... after about 30 minutes I left the house came back in about 45 minutes... and it was still installing so I aborted that foolishness.

I'm soooo frustrated. It seems like everyone else in the known world can scan a document. Why is it so hard for me?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

A:Poor Scanning Quality with Brother DCP-1000

First rule of scanning.

SCAN FOR OUTPUT

Forget DPI....yes I know that's not what you've been told

When scanning, if you want to end up with an 8x10 then you MUST set the output for that size, it won't matter what DPI you use, personally I'd use 300.

Why not use the Brother scanning software?

Hi,

I am running an AMD 2700+ on a MSI K7N2 Delta motherboard with 512mb of ram. Video Card is an ATI All in Wonder 9000. When I play a CD in either drive (Lite-on 52x24x52 CD Burner or Lite-on DVD-Rom ) The audio pops and scratches like I was playing a vinyl record on a phonograph. I tried different cd's and the same thing happens. All the CD's I tried were CD's I Bought in the store not burned. I checked all my sound settings and I enabled DMA on both CD-Roms and still the same thing. I disconnected the analog audio cables inside the computer to see if that was the problem and no luck. Any suggestions????

Thanks in advance

Hello, As a musician, I like to use the Voice Recorder app in Windows 10, to do quick recordings of musical inspiration when the moments presents itself. I then store these 'Draft' musical ideas into my professional Recording Software package, (Cakewalk Sonar X1),  I have a HP 23-R115a All-In-One PC,Using the following...AMD High Definition Audio Device, Audio Codec: Realtek ALC3228-CG,...and I find that the audio quality of the resultant "m4a" files are really bad quality and super lossy with heaps of compression artifacts. It's important to note that he playback within Voice Recorder is crap from the outset, so it's not the Cakewalk software. Is there a way I can edit/alter/re-define the Microphone recording parameters? I've tried changing the audio quality of these 2 options in the Microphone properties via Control Panel, as well as update the driver, but there is no change to poor quality.   TIA

I have a PowerPoint 2007 presentation in which I've linked a large number of one-page PDF documents. These docs were originally scanned from hardcopies, and the quality in many of them is only fair.

The images as they appear in PowerPoint are not as good as the originals; in the case of fine text, they are barely legible.

The alternative would be to open the docs in Adobe Reader, stretch them to a large size, copy the image and paste it into PowerPoint. These images are definitely cleaner and more legible, but the copy-and-paste process would take much longer than inserting links (which I'm doing with a very fast macro).

I'm hoping that someone knows of some setting I can change that will improve the image quality for the several dozen existing links; failing that, what else can I do that's faster than starting over with the copy-and-paste?

I purchased The Complete National Geographic (108 Years) several years ago shortly after I bought my first PC (Windows 95). I noticed immediately that the text quality was very poor -- too light and not at all crisp, which made it very difficult to read.

My new computer has Windows XP Pro, and while I have no problem running the old National Geographic program, the text quality is equally as poor as it was with Windows 95.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Is there an easy way to intensify/darken the text in order to make it easy to read?

NG's explanation is as follows:

The text quality is limited by the low resolution of the original scan. Zooming in on the image makes it easier to read, as does viewing the product using color palette display settings at 16-bit High Color or better. Printing pages on a color printer will also make them easier to read.

A:NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC on CD-ROM -- poor text quality

Are your display settings @ 16-bit high color or better? What kind of video card and monitor do you have?

I just bought a new laptop and tried the HDMI, but there is no audio and the image is poor.

It's an Asus X501A with Pentium 2020M Ivy Bridge and Intel HD Graphics.

I tried changing the output resolution, to tweak the audio properties, etc.

No success.

Any idea?

Thanks.

A:HDMI on TV no audio, poor quality image

Video and sound are separate, although both should be in the HDMI signal - IF THE PC Supports this.

When you plug in the HDMI cable most system will change the default audio playback device to HDMI. However, it sounds like yours is not doing this. With the HDMI cable plugged in, go to the Sound Panel, Playback section. the HDMI should be set as the default Playback device.

If you still cannot get HDMI audio, contact ASUS, since this is a new PC (or the place where you purchased it).

Hi guys, my first post! Had my Tosh for 3 years now. I have a problem with the display now. It looks as if the colour depth is really low or something.. like I've whacked it on 8bit colour depth! Everything looks heavily posterized in the graphical sense.

I've uninstalled video drivers and reinstalled a new one, an old one, a toshiba version, an nvidia driver version and all have no effect on the problem. No joy!

I've gone through and checked all the resolution and colour depth settings and trawled through the many pages of nvidia settings and toyed with any reasonable settings to find the problem. No change. Everything reset to how I found it.

I've been reading through the forums and not really found anything specific. If I've missed it then I'd love a link here slapped in my face to show how incompetent I am! ;)

I am however gonna try disconnecting the battery and power for an hour and powering up again afterwards as that seems to be the standard fix or must try for everything. What does this do exactly? Reset BIOS/CMOS etc?

Thanks in advance!

Hey, I was just wondering if there was anyone here that could help me with this problem I am having with Adobe Premiere Pro.

I have used it to edit a movie together with MOV video files from my iPhone 3GS which are of decent quality but everytime I try to export it, the video quality is degraded significantly from the original. I have tried several different export options but none seem to do the trick.

Also, exporting with DivX just gives me an audio file with no video so I have been unable to try that.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.
