Problem When Copying A DVD With Nero

Q: Problem When Copying A DVD With Nero

Hello, ive had no problems so far with regards to copying dvds, but yesterday i decrypted a dvd with DVD Shrink and then went it went to burn it using DVD Shrink i got an error saying it could not copy but all my decrypted files were at a certain location.

I thought this could have been a faulty blank dvd, but ive just gotten the same error again so i tried to burn using nero. I got the following Error, i dunno if anybody can make anything out of the error.

I hope somebody can help, thanks.

using nero 5.5, I put an .iso file on a cd 'as .iso image'. So that it is like a regular cd. Now, I would like to make a copy of that cd, how do I do this in Nero 5.5?

A:Nero 5.5 copying cd

Yep, if you burned it properly, it's now just a regular CD, just tell Nero to copy it.

Hi all I'm trying to copy a copied DVD using Nero 6. It completes the first part ok, but when I insert the blank disk I get a message saying 'illegal disk' and then 'could not perform start of disk-at-once' , and finally 'burn process failed' The disk I'm trying to copy from is +R, my blanks are -R (is this the problem?), my pc supports both. This is the first time I have attempted to copy a DVD. I've only done CD's previously, with no problem. Bearing in mind that I'm a novice using Nero, can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong please? any suggestions appreciated.

I wasn't sure where this belongs, so you can move this if it is necessary.

Anyway, I'd like to ask if I use Nero 9 version to copy an entire music CD to an image file, and then burn this file to a new CD -- will it result in a CD that can only play on PC?

The reason I'm asking is because I saw something about it on Wikipedia.

Plus, right now I'm using Nero 8. Is there a good reason to "upgrade" to version 9? My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate.

Thanks in advance.

A:Copying music CD with Nero 9.

If you create an image file of any type of CD, that image file will produce a copy which behaves just as the original does. Using Nero's "CD Copy" option also achieves the same result.

"Is there a good reason to "upgrade" to version 9?"

Yes, because version 8 is not compatible with Windows 7. Strictly speaking you need the latest version which is Nero Burning ROM 10 if you want full compatibility.

Ok Here's what I'm using:
Sony External Burner DRX-710UL

Nero Sony Edition

Magic DVD Copier 4.92

Magnavox MWD7006 DVD player

Memorex DVD+R/ DVD+R DL

Here's my situation:
I can make data dvd's with avi files that the magnavox will play (sometimes all the avi's on the disc won't play and sometimes it isn't full screen- I assume that is due to the avi's encoding, I just want all the info in here).

I can SOMETIMES make backups of commercially produced dvd's that will play in the magnavox.

I can SOMETIMES make dvd's by selecting "dvd-video" and adding files from a video_ts folder on my hard drive to the video_ts folder in nero that will play in the magnavox. Some of these are user compiled (ie: music videos fabricated to a dvd with menus, etc.) and some are dvd backups.

Sometimes the dvd will start in the magnavox and I might get the initial trailers or even as far as the menu, but the disc isn't fully functional.

So I know the discs work in the magnavox player, I just don't know why they don't all work all of the time. All of the discs work all of the time when I play them on the Sony burner.

I'm wondering in addition, if there is a problem because there might not be a region code for the magnavox to read? I cannot find a way to designate region 1 in Nero when burning the disc.

I think that's all the info needed. Thanks for reading.

Last year I created a slide show project containing about 39 slide shows and 800 images using an early version of Nero (circa 2001). A few months ago my Lenovo crashed and I had to reformat it back to the factory settings. Some time earlier I had backed up all my important files to CD but somehow had missed copying the slideshow setup (for want of a better word) which meant that, although I had all the images, the slide show itself was lost.

I now have Nero 7 Essentials and the slide show plug in. I am wondering if there is any way of copying the project and its associated slide shows from the DVD I made containing the project in such a way that I can open it in Nero 7 and edit it (add images). This would save me a lot of time as all 800 of the images included subtitles and I would hate to have to create a new project and redo the subtitles.

Others will have answers, I'm sure, but if worse comes to worse you can always download the old version. I think 2001 is version 5

I recently bought a new pc and gave my old to my dad,he installed his hdd in this pc and ofc the xp pro didnt work.We installed windows 7 on that hdd and it worked fine.Later he wanted to add a new xp to that HDD,when we did that the dualboot showed the old and new xp pro and the w7 was now in a logical partition,so not bootable anymore. So i used partitionmaster to copy it to a primary partition on a second HDD.After running the repairtool from the w7 disk it was running fine again. The logical partition on the first HDD with w7 on it was full, so he wanted to format that one. After formatting it and deleting the partition the windows 7 on the second HDD didnt work anymore. It starts up and than says its building the desktop.after ctr alt delete there is a menum to choose from ,with change user, taskmanager etc.If i click taskmanager there is a message saying that it is an illegal copy, withch is not true ofc.Is there a solution to solve this problem?

I have done this before but now I have a total mental blank. Please help!

BTW: I have not tried to write a CD since installing SP2

OS: MS: XP Home SP2
Drive: Sony R/W
Media: New TDK 700MB Compact Disk

Problem: Using “My Computer.” I select a file to be copied to the CD; after getting the screen which says “write file to CD” --- I select the file and start the copy. I then get the error message that the system cannot write to the device and that it can only write to a writable CD. Thinking that the CD was not formatted I then went to command mode and entered the instruction
FORMAT F: /FS:FAT32 and after confirming the format I then got the message the device is write protected.

I need to copy some dll files to my system32 but vista wont let me. I have tried enabling the administrator account but i keep getting the message that i dont have the rights to perform the action or something. Disabling UAC also didnt help anything. Vista is such a pain in the ass. I know security is a good thing but they also should consider to make it easier to work with it....... XP ftw!

Hi tobbert,

You might want to try doing it thru the hidden admin account, but it's recommended not to use it all the time. Or you might just try taking ownership of the files, and see if it will allow you then.

Recentlly I bought a movie dvd. I wanted to copy it to my machine and the size has shown 2.76GB. But when i tried to copy it to the machine, it has given an error message saying no enogh space in the disc. There was more than 50gb available in my hard drive. But when I open DVD in file explorer and checked the size, it has shown around 300GB file size and there were lots of VOB file shown in DVD. How ever I managed to copy two .VOB files separately but it does not allow me to copy VTS1_1.VOB file. Is this a dvd copy protection issue? Is it possible to copy this dvd?

A:Problem with copying DVD

Nearly every DVD today has some form of anti-copy protection on it. You just can't slap a DVD movie into the drive & copy it. Standard DVD movies [not BluRay] can be anything from a few GBs in size to slightly over 7 GBs. And that is what you'd also get if copied to the HD. Often there are VOB files on the DVD that should not be copied. Manufacturers have a fair number of tricks to thwart your efforts. You would also most likely need a dual layer DVD R disc for a standard DVD movie. BluRay is a whole other ballgame. Lot's more GBs & the copy protection is even more difficult to circumvent. Additionally, & I won't go into it here, you would need specialized software that removes the anti copy to do the rip/copy. Google is probably going to be your best friend in that regard.
One other point worth making/asking is that in this day & age of On Demand, Netflix, DVD rental stores, Redbox kiosks, public libraries & numerous other options for movies why even bother attempting the copying/pirating of a DVD?

My new computer, 3+ yrs. ago, came with Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.0 installed. Since, I believe Roxio bought out Adaptec and somehow I acquired Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum although I can't find a disk in my collection. So I may have downloaded it? It has been some time since I have done any copying whatsoever so I have kind of forgotten how all this came about. Anyway, just now I attempted to copy a disk and got an intercept saying: "You have not installed this application yet. If you would like to use this application, please install it now." I don't understand because nothing has changed, that I know of, and I was able to copy the last time I used it. In checking the Add or Remove Programs section in Control Panel I find that there is an installation of Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum to the tune of 114.00 MB. I then went to Roxio, thinking that there might be an update, and found that there was. So I downloaded and installed it. But I still get the same message. Any suggestions?

Hope this the right place for this question. I am trying to copy a CD which a friend gave to me with a certain big file on it, 740 MB. The problem I'm running into is the cd is only 700MB that my friend gave me and when I try to copy it to an identical CD it fails because copying 740 to 700 won't work. The weird thing is when you look at the properties of the cd with the big file on it it shows up as only using 500K of space. Now my question is: "How did the original copier of the file get the big file on the CD".

Ok, I had an 80GB drive with 3 partitions on it that I wanted to convert to one partition without losing data, and I don't have Partition Magic, so I decided to use two 20GB drives I recently got off Ebay to help swap. I copied the files I wanted to the two 20's, reformatted the 80, and now I'm trying to copy the files back, but - when I'm trying to copy from one of the 20s back to the 80, my comp freezes. So here's what I did to isolate the problem:
I scanned all disks for errors (none).
I tried copying files one by one, thinking maybe it was a particular file that was problematic... discovered that small files copy fine. It's when I try to copy a large file - the "Copying" dialog box comes up with the animation showing a file flying from one folder to another - the comp freezes within a second or two of the first file copy completing. If there are multiple files being copied, the dialog box is on to the next file when the comp freezes. If there are no other files to be copied, the box closes, and the comp freezes within a second or two.
I verified that I had spare room on all drives (5GB free on the 20, more on the others). (Swapfile problem?)
I tried copying large files to/from my other drives - I can copy large files from any of my drives to any other drive - including *to* the 20 - with no problems, regardless of size.
I tried running the Task Manager and watching the CPU and RAM counters to see if they spike when this ha... Read more

To get the tracks to your harddrive you'll have to rip them, not copy them. You'll find several ripping programs in our Freeware Replacements For Common Commercial Apps topic, under the CD & DVD Applications heading.

I am trying to copy some AVI files made from a Camcorder to a DVD-r.

I am just doing this under windows by marking the file and selecting copy to cd from the menu on the left side (the same way I would moving a file to a blank CD).

It gives me the message headed "Problem Copying" Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file. What do you want window to do?

When I right click on the properties of the disk is says "Type: CD Drive File System: Raw Used Space:0 Free Space:0 Capacity:0"

The Disks I have are Verbatim Inkjet Printable DVD-r up to 8x 4.7gb

My Drive is LITE-ON Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R

A:Problem Copying (AVI to DVD-r)

You have DVD-R, your drive is a DVD+R

Some drives are very picky, try buying a small pack of DVD+R's and see if that works.

Hello, everyone.

I attempted to burn a video file onto a DVD, with Nero Express. However, the software only allows either bup, vob or ifo files. After googling such terms on the web, I came across several forums/communities and whatnot, where people kept saying that Nero Vision is required, in order to convert the files you want, into bup, vob or ifo (I have absolutely zero clue as to why the company behind Nero didn't include Nero Vision in Nero 12's software suite. Because without it, Nero Express is totally useless. But I digress)

I jumped on Nero Vision, but was told by the software that my project could only fit into a DVD-9.

Question 1: I have burnable DVDs for 120 min/4.7gb. Doesn't that mean that even if my project exceeds 120 minutes in length, if it still doesn't exceed the size limit, it's supposed to work? What on earth is a DVD-9, anyways?

Question 2: If you can just power on Nero Vision and immediately get your original file and burn it, why does Nero Express require all this bup, vob, ifo nonsense???

Question 3: What are the major differences between immediately burning your original file onto a DVD, and converting that into the required bup, vob and ifo formats?

Question 4: How would I go about doing that with Nero Vision?

EDIT: Realized that the only way to burn past that time limit (120 min)(My file exceeds 2 hours in length) is to decrease its quality, which I do not want to do. So I should go with the vob, bup, ifo stuff, ri... Read more

I have an external hard drive with some files backed up from an old XP system using Nero Back Up software (files have the .NBA extension)
I am looking for a new computer and will want to install some of these files onto the new computer. Am I able to do this if the Nero software is not installed on the new computer, or will I have to buy Nero software just to add these files to the new computer? If so, is that always the case, that one must restore files using the same software used to backup the files?

A:Restoring file backed up on old system with I need Nero

Yes, you will need to install the Nero Backup software in order to restore the .nba files.

You can try using their free version of NeroBackItUp from here to see if that will work.

If not, they have older versions of the same free program

See if you can find the same version that you used to do the backup.

There are other programs you can use to do backups that don't require the same program to restore files. I use SyncBackFree to backup my files. You can use the same program to restore files, but it's not necessary. You can just copy the files back with Windows Explorer.

I am using Nero BackItUp (Nero Ultra 7) and have been receiving "data verification failed" and "Sector NNNNNN on disc has different content to source" errors recently. On the same PC (Win XP Pro SP2), I got the errors using two different burners (an HP and a Sony) and trying both a DVD/RW and a DVD/R. FYI, I use Shadow Copy for the burn, the burn process completes without error every time (i.e. - the error only occurs during verification), and I have burned to the DVD/RW many times before without incident. More generally, I didn't get data verification errors before so I am wondering why I might be getting them now. Also, could someone tell me what, exactly, "Sector NNNNNN on disc has different content to source" means? I assume it means that the source and target files are not matching in some cases. More importantly, is it a big deal? I ran the ScanDisc in Nero CD-DVD Speed and both DVDs had 100% good sectors (0% damaged or bad). Nero log file attached.

I've had this problem forever : when copying files using the file manager the process bombs out and says : "Cannot Copy - access denied. Make sure file is not in use or copy protected...etc", and the entire copy process is abandoned because of one file (which was not copy protected anyway).

Can this be avoided ??: Am i doing something wrong ? How do i avoid this ??

A:Problem Copying files

What is the file? just out of curiosity[It could be in use and therefore read-only], and you're trying to copy it not cut it yeah[so it's probably not that]?

A few things to check, what type of file is it? and what programs use it?
Check the properties of the file(For read-only/system settings)...
Also check who has user privelages for it? I had a problem like this before in which my user privelages were erased and only the system user had privelages to view/modify files... Also check the privelages of the folder you're trying to copy them into (if that's read only that would be a problem) sorry i'd give you details on how to do all this but i'm on vista and they would be innaccurate... All i can give is right click-> properties and have a nice long look through everything for the source files and the destination folder

I use Nero all the time to create audio disks from MP3 files. Unless the MP3 files are corrupted in some manner, all you need to do is open an audio compilation and drag-n-drop the MP3's on it, they'll be converted to record an audio disk.

Well, when I copy files on my external HDD, it's going fast, until the 1st file is done, after the 1st file, it doesn't really freeze, but stops for like 4-6 secs, and then it suddenly moves on again, with low transfer speed which increases. This happens for each file

Copying 13 files ? 300MB

{Copying speed: 35MB/s (constantly changing)

Files remaining: 13

Green bar goes up constantly}

~green bar stops moving, transfer speed rate stops changing for 4-6 secs~

{Copying speed: 20MB/s (constantly going up)

Files remaining: 12

Green bar goes up again}

{Copying speed: 20MB/s (constantly going up)

Files remaining: 11

Green bar goes up again}

~green bar stops moving, transfer speed rate stops changing for 4-6 secs~

and so on

I've had this problem once like.. a year ago, but I somehow managed to fix it back then, I can't remember how tho ):

P.S. I have 2 external HDDs, each worked fine until yesterday. This problem only occurs when putting data on the external HDD, not when copying data from it.

I wonder if someone can help me with this problem. I have a Bridge Scoring program on my Windows 10 laptop which runs without a problem. I want to provide a copy (it's was a free program but is now no longer available) to a colleague who has a two year old laptop running on Windows 7. I copied the program onto a disk which I gave to the colleague. The program seems to load onto the colleagues laptop without a problem. However, when he tries to use parts of the program he gets two "Error 339" messages. The messages refer to component "COMDLG.ocx" and to component "MSFLXGRD.ocx". Both messages say " Component XXX or one of its dependencies is not correctly registered: a file is missing or corrupt ".

Are these 'OCX' components normally found in Windows 7 and if so what is the easiest way to restore them to normal ?. I have tried running sfc /scannow on the colleagues laptop but this showed no errors. Your help would be very welcome though I would not wish to play around in the Registry of the colleagues laptop if this can be avoided.

Missing Comdlg32.ocx error while running an application?

I just searched for COMDLG.ocx missing. You can do the same for the other. Hope that helps- let us know if it works in '10.

However- do you know if the program requires registry entries? Some old visual basic programs did not.
You could try using RegfromApp (Nir Sofer) to check.

I'm going to assume you know all the possible other areas where programs may create and use folders in addition to the installation folder.

I am having a weird problem...for some reason I am not able to copy some files from a data DVD that I burned. I have a series of folders on this DVD, and I am only having a issues with copying this one folder. I do not have problems copying files from any other CDs or DVDs. The folder that I am trying to copy contains a series of music album folders. When I try to copy the folder with all the folders in it, I get this error: "Cannot copy file: cannot read from source file or disc." I have researched this error and nothing comes up that matches my scenario. The problem is likely that it is Russian music with Russian folder titles. The folders with Russian characters in the title are replaced with (????) and I cannot enter these folders. Explorer says that the folders are empty. It probably has something to do with the fact that the folders had Russian characters in them, which may have caused a problem during the burning process. I have Russian and Cyrillic languages installed for non-unicode programs. The disc is perfectly clean, so I have no idea why there would be any problem. Thanks in advance.

I have just built a new PC using mostly new parts and some from my original PC.

The spec is:

Asus P5K mobo
E6850 Core2Duo processor
2Gb Crucial Ballistix RAM
700W Power supply
1 x SATA 80Gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 boot drive
1 x SATA 400Gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 data drive
1 x SATA 300Gb Maxtor data drive
1 x IDE 200Gb Maxtor data drive
I am running XP Pro with all the service packs.

I have a new SATA 400Gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 as one of my data drives, and this is split into 2 partitions. I have further data drives also installed.

I can move and copy files from all partitions and drives apart from 1 partition on this Seagate drive. When I try to move a file from this drive, it copies the file, but hangs before deleting the original copy. Windows seems to be holding onto the file, because if I then try to shut down the PC, I get a message saying that Windows is currently processing a file and cannot shut down. I have to reset the PC to get it to restart.

If I try to copy a file from this partition and then delete the original, it works fine. I can move files into this partiton, but not from it.

It works as it should in safe mode....some sort of driver issue ?

I doesn't seem to be a physical problem with the drive as I can copy a file and then delete it.

This all seems a little wierd, I have built a number of machines but not come across anything like this before.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

My OS is Win7 Pro (32bit). I am copying large among of data/files (4.3TB) from different drives (RAID & not RAID) to another RAID storage system over a network (100MBit). I ran into file copying problems. Want to understand the cause of the problem and want to know how to fix it.

For example, I use window explorer to copy for example g:/DataMain/DataDate/DataGroup/Sub01 to x:/Archive/ DataMain/DataDate/DataGroup/Sub01 where there are a number of subfolders under /Sub01 and

g drive can be an external hard drive or a NAS drive (the sources).
x drive a NAS drive (the target).

All files being transfer are scientific files with a meta header and a raw image in the pixel part (similar in concept to jpg and other image types) and each file are either 2MB or 8MB in size. These files come in set and are group together as individual subfolders nested in the parent folder. To access these files, I need a special pixel viewer. Each subfolder being copied is about 2.3GB in size.

I observed these strange behavior:
1/ After the window explorer finished copying a subfolder from one drive to another, the folder size in a number of these subfolders in the target say g:/DataGroup/Sub01, do not match up with the corresponding folder size in the source x:/DataGroup/Sub01. In all these cases so far, the number of files & their sizes in the source directory, g:/DataGroup/Sub01, are larger than the corresponding target location x:/DataGroup/Sub01. Why?

Since the amount of data is pretty small, it could be something like thumbnails (usually hidden) or some other small hidden files. If it were me, I use something like robocopy to do your copying, it's fast, will bypass files it can't copy and will press on, and more importantly gives a nice summary of what's been done.

Hello all: I have a problem that suddenly appeared last week. I can no longer copy DVDs to an ISO file using my internal or my external burners. I had just Win 8.1 at the time this first happened, now I also have Win 10 set up on a dual boot, and I didn't install any driver or firmware updates before this occurred. I ran a sfc scan on the 8.1 side and 2 or 3 errors couldn't be repaired. The weird thing is when I tried to create an ISO file in Win 10, the operation failed there as well. For software I've been using BurnAware Free and I made about 10-15 ISO files with no issues previous to this. I've tried to find a halfway decent free ISO creator to verify the error, but they're pretty difficult to find. One other thing, I also had trouble burning copies as well. Made 3 or 4 coasters before I gave up. Gregg

Video-CD format uses mpeg-1 not mpeg-2 (mpeg-2 is used for DVD quality video on a DVD disc.). You must be clicking the wrong option in Nero Express. It already has an mpeg-1 encoder built in to it to convert video to VideoCD format.

A:Problem copying pictures to cd-r

It sounds like the burning method you're using is either packet writing (using a CD like a floppy) or multisession both of which, as you've found out, don't always work so well. The safest way to burn a CD-R is to make a one time burn.

Open the burning software you use, select the jpg files you want to burn and make a data CD. If you want to make maximum use of the CD space, wait until you have about 700 MB of data and then do the burn.

I find it quite annoying that Nero has converted all of my music and video clips to the Nero.MOV format, as I would much rather use what Im used of, Windows Media Player.. To use WMP I have to change each file as its used, which to be honest is starting to bug me.
Is there anyway I can alter my music/videos etc to automatically open with WMP??

Or, would I be better deleting Nero altoghter and finding a different program to back my files up??

Any advice, highly appreciated..

I was using windows 98se. and then I upgraded to windows XP Pro. but the problem is, the ahead nero software doesn't work on the xp.
yes yes yes. I did try un-installing and then RE-installing ahead nero. It just does not work. It gives me those errors. I am pretty sure its just not my computer only.

I haven't come across any upgrades for nero from 98se to xp pro. may be there are and i am not looking deep enough. but why should i have to pay for small software upgrades???
anyways. ALL inputs are appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I have a suddenly appearing problem with Nero 5.5. My nephew came over last Sunday and copied a couple of CD's which is not unusual. He is very good with computers and causes no problem. Today when i tried to backup the data on my computer the Burner starts out fine and then fails in the burn process. It also seems to take longer to do normal functions and also it will lock up the computer and the only way to get it operating again is to do a reset.

The following messages are displayed during the burn process:

!. Burn process started.
2. No seek complete.
3. Invalid write slate.
4. Could not perform end track.
5. Command sequence error.
6. Could not perform fixation.
7. Burn process failed.

I had another burner that I installed into the computer and got the same results.

I also uninstalled Nero and reinstalled with the exact same results. I belive that something has infected my computer but don't have a clue as to what.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks for any help you have.

Try unchecking the enable desktop recording. The built in direct cd application from Roxio has been known to conflict with NERO in the past.

i've downloaded the latest nero in the official site. i've downloaded the english version, but somehow along the way, the license agreement is in japanese. after installation, the program group of nero is in japanese. and the file types that is recognized by nero became japanese too (when you browse explorer in detailed view). somehow the application is in english (the menus and text).

what i'm annoyed is the filetypes on the explorer. so i uninstalled it and now all my images had some Japanese writing as the filetype,so i had togoto"open with" and set it back to opening with windows picture viewer
by the way, i have installed several Asian fonts on my system. winxp. but the general language is english. is that the reason why this is happening?
heres the real problem, i uninstalled it but its still in the add/remove but it doesnt have a program folder. i tried to download it again but when i try to install it, the license agreement is in Japanese (which im sure will lead right back to the same problem). so is there anyway to get it to install in english?
thanks, as usual your help is greatly appreciated

I've been trying to create a Data CD of all my MP3S, Real audio etc. I have Nero 7 and had lined all the songs up to be burnt, it appeared that all the data was on the CD, however, when I played it back in my CD player only two out of about 30 tracks were on!

Any ideas why this is? I've been mixing real audio and mp3 files but I didn't think that made any difference. Some of the real files have RAM attachments. There was plenty of room left on the CD, I'd only used about 75 MB so far.

Please help!!

A:Problem with Nero!! Please help!

You don't tell it to create an audio file, you create a data file. I suspect your CD player doesn't play Real Media files.

I lost my CDW there is no ASPI in trying to download one I found it pressed download, unzipped it from the site then nothing happened so I copied & pasted the instructions.
“This file extracts by default to the c:\adaptec\aspi directory. If you have changed this directory, please note the directory you have chosen. For Windows 98, NT 4.0, ME and 2000, use the enclosed ASPIINST.EXE file to install the ASPI layer. For Windows XP, select Start - Run from the menu, and then the Browse button. Locate the INSTALL.BAT file in the directory the files extracted to and select the OPEN button. In the command box, add a space and either XP32 for Pentium I/II/III/IV processors or XP64 for Itanium processors. The command should look like: c:\adaptec\aspi\install.bat XP32 or c:\adaptec\aspi\install.bat XP64. Then select the OK button to run the XP installer.”
Notes: I found the file in MS-DOS batch file 12-11 2001 and am not sure how to proceed these files are under operating systems and there are 4 listed no OK button just press any key to continue.

I have the following -

- 700 mb blank cd.

I tried to write the .avi file on to the cd with Nero5 so that I could have a VCD which I could play on any VCD/DVD player. But I encountered the following problems -

-When I hit the burn button on Nero, I get a msg saying "Sorry, there is not enough disk space for the required Nero cache(needed 3751mb, available 1875mb). Please free some disk space or use another caching drive."

-The VCD is much longer than 80min(from the space indicator). If I change the caching drive to my D drive(please tell me how to do that!!), how do I get the movie to be partitioned into halves and fit perfectly into 2 CDs??

Many thanks!!

Hi Pals.
I've been having a problem with my Nero 7. While I can burn dvd's without any problem I have a problem when it comes to cd's. Nero usually gives me an error message in Greek:
"Error Dynamic Alignment" (translating from the Greek). This happens on different cd media. Whereas sometimes it burns a cd some other times it doesn't even with the same project. I'm attaching the error log file just in case you good people can understand it, as "It's all Greek to me!!!", even if I am a Greek (hehehehe).
A million anticipated thanks pals.

A:Problem With Nero 7

Power calibration error (from your log)

Nero say:

The cause will be either poor media, poor power, or a defective recorder.

Please try the following solutions:
Update the firmware of your recorder. Please check the manufacturer's website for the latest version.
Try another brand of CD-R or CD-RW media.
Try different power connectors, and for recorders, do not share power with other devices. It needs its own power connector. If the error occurs with an external recorder, the power source in the chassis could be the cause. As a test, try to take the recorder out of the external chassis and connect it internal.
Try different configurations, such as taking the CD-ROM to the primary IDE bus as slave and have only the recorder connected to the secondary IDE bus as master.

I had a problem with my Nero 6 software. When I use a RW disc (CD&DVD), with already written data in it, its not displaying the existing data in the disc. It accepts it as a new disc and when you add the new files and click 'Burn' then it says there is already some data in the disc and if you continue you will loose that data. What could be the reason???

Hi. Thankyou for having such a great forum to help. I've used this a couple times with a few little glitches I have had in the past.

Firstly I apologise if this problem has been covered. I have done a pretty detailed search here, and googled it, but haven't found an answer.

I have been one of the lucky ones with running Nero 7 Ultra Edition with no problems for months.

I have created quite a few home movies and slideshows with no problems until yesterday.

When I tried to edit a home movie, the program just closed, no errors, just closed. I found it was when I tried to edit movies with transitions in AFTER I had saved and reopened it. Any movie without transitions, or with transitions but haven't opened are fine. Also still image slideshows with transitions are fine too.

It doesn't seem to care what type of video file it is, only if it has had transitions added to it.

I doubt its a memory problem (the movie I really want to edit isn't that long, I have edited ones much longer). I have downloaded a couple of 3g convertors, so I'm unsure if they have caused a problem with codecs?? (I'm not really up to date with codecs, I need to understand them a bit better before I start playing around with them) All my other media programs, including Windows Movie Maker work fine.

I really don't want to do a system restore unless its absolutely necessary. I haven't tried reinstalling Nero yet. I guess I will have to get the cleaner on the n... Read more

I need some help. I am running Windows 98. I have Nero 5 cd burner. Never had any problems with it until now when it comes to reading cds or burning a cd. I burned a cd the other day and everything was fine. My grandmother gave me a cd for my mom to listen to, which came from UK. I placed it into my burner to play it (sometimes I use it instead of my CD rom) and it played fine. Well, I tried burning some songs from my MP3 files onto a cd (and I've used the cds plenty of times before) and it's only burning a few songs. For example, it got to the 14th song then said Failed Writer Error. So, I tried burning the songs again, this time just 10 at a time, made it to the 8th song then said the same thing. I put the cd into my dvd player to see if the songs would play, and they played and stopped where the burning failed. I'm wondering if the UK cd was formatted differently and has messed up my burner? And if so, can it be reformatted or something? I tried reinstalling it and that didn't work either. Someone please tell me what the problem might be. Thanks in advance.

It is always best to fill out your 'Profile" with your equipment and O/S , you will get faster and better advice.
Did Nero ever work or were you just loading it for the first time.
Is your version of Nero the most recent ?
Does your cdwriter have the latest 'firmware"
