If I open a document or picture and then decide to email it to someone, I click on 'Send to ...mail recipient' and a Microsoft Outlook email proforma pops up, with the words "This message has not been sent" across the top of it. The problem is that I do not have a Microsoft Outlook email account, and do not want one. How can I change things so that either my BT Yahoo or Gmail email proforma comes up instead? I have tried making one of these my default email account, but Microsoft Outlook is still the one that comes up.
Many thanks

Recently i have not been recieving and incoming mail, this has been happening for the past 4 days. I decided to click the "send and recieve" button and then and error came up:

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: '', Server: '', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid user name or password.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

After this it then asks me to login to the server, my username and password seems to already be entered, however, when i click ok nothing happens and most of the time the logon window pops back up!

Im running AVG if this has anything to d with the problem, however, i have had AVG for a couple of years now and had no problems with it until now!

Any ideas?

Recently I must have done something inadvertently in my outlook as I can no longer open links in any email messages. When I try, the following message appears: "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on your computer. Please contact your system administrator." By the way, it is a home computer and I am the system administrator. I called Bell Support as I thought maybe it had something to do with the new McFee Virus Protection that Bell switched to but the issue appears to be related to something I may have done in outlook myself. The tech could not locate the problem. Any ideas? In order to open link I have to cut and paste it into google or such but with some links, this does not work. Any help on this issue would be most appreciated. I am not particularly tech savvy so please keep this in mind when you respond. Thank you.

I'm having trouble with Outlook and receiving one email over and over again. I use Outlook to check my Yahoo mail and I was sent an email from an AOL address. What is happening is that the same email comes in each time Outlook refreshes to check for new mail. Could anyone please help with this problem? Thanks in advance.

edit: Went into Yahoo mail and deleted the repeating email. It seems to have done the trick. Should have tried that before posting. Thanks anyway!

Hi There,

This is a problem that is really starting to annoy me as i really dont think it should be that hard to sort!

The problem is the computer prints fine from everything but when i try to print an e-mail from Outlook 2003 nothing happens. This has never happend before and has only started happening today. (Well this is when it was reported to me)

I have tried a detect and repair of Outlook.
I have uninstalled Office and re-installed it.
Have done a system restore and that didnt fix it either.
Also tried something i seen on another site (go to run and type regsvr32 ole32.dll) it comes up saying it was successful but then it does not let me print from outlook as usual.

Now discovered the problem started after a bad install of IE7 would this have anything to do with it?

Does anyone know of any fixes for this problem?

Thanks in advance.

A:Solved: Problem Printing from Microsoft Outlook

Just to let you all know i have managed to work out the problem. It seems to be that if IE7 does not install properly it causes other problems i uninstalled IE7 and then re-installed it again and it all worked perfectly.

My daughter decided to send a large amount of photos from my email to her email, there are approx 20 attachments totaling 31mb. i know from previous experience that this is far too many attachments to send in one go hence the email has been sitting in my outbox for the best part of 24 hours.
I have tried to delete the email by right clicking on it and selecting delete but nothing happens and when i try to open it, it says " cant open this item. Outlook has already begun transmitting this message"

Does any one have any suggestions?

A:Solved: microsoft outlook email problem

With Outlook open, click on File> Work Offline. Close Outlook and when you open
it again, see if you can delete the outbox contents.
After you finish, be sure to uncheck Work Offline again.

Hi All

OK when I compose an email, font is in 12 Arial Narrow, but the email when it reaches the recipient and also my sent folder the font is quite tiny, why does this change?

I have been to Tools > Options > Stationery and Fonts - I clicked on all three > Choose Font Options and they are all under Arial Narrow 12, this text is more than big enough when I am composing the email but for some reason it changes, does anyone know where I must go to stop the fonts changing when its sent? (yes I did click apply when i reset the font size)

Do I have to increase the font size to something like 26 for it to be normal size in recipients email in boxes?

It's really stumped me, I know my email did not always do this.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Forgot to mention - Microsoft Office 2003 has all its updates and I am using XP Pro which is all up to date also.

Hi, I am experiencing a problem when setting up Microsoft Outlook 2007 to connect with an exchange email account. I have created a new exchange account online and upon opening Outlook I am prompted to create a new user. I have done so, and now it asks me to enter my details, which I have done, but it fails to find my account encrypted or unencrypted and so asks me if I wish to set it up manually. So I have gone into this and found the exact information I need, e.g. the exchange server name and user name. These are 100% right, but yet when I click on the ‘check name’ box it gives me the following message:
‘The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.’ It then lets me go no further. On the Internet fine, and I’ve been trying to fix it for days.
It is not my address because I’ve tried to set up other new users and encountered the same problem with their addresses.
Please help if you can, it's getting quite urgent to fix it.
Thanks, Rob

Hello people. Thank you for reading this! I have a problem. I use MS Office 2003. I just bought a new computer since my old one was just dying. That's a different story. I took the PST file from my old one, and put to work on my new machine. Now, when I click on CONTACTS, below MAIL, I see all of my contacts. But when I compose a new massage, and click on "TO:” there is nothing there!! So in order for me to write a letter to a contact, I need to open up my "Contacts" and RIGHT CLICK on one and choose "Compose a New Message", which is totally unacceptable because some e-mails I write, I want to have multiple receivers of. Everything else is fine. All of the folders and subfolders I have, are there. Just this. Please help??

I downloaded th latest Microsoft update earlier today and as soon as I rebooted I happened to get 1 problem with Outlook 2003. I can not send email. I can receive email and my internet connection works but I can't send email. It tells me that it is detecting the server but can't connect. I contacted my ISP provider and they went through my system to make sure i had all setting correct, they were, butthey won't help with any software that is not theirs. I tried to go back to a restore point but non of my restore points will work. I even tried to install outlook express and I get the same problem. I am running Windows XP Pro with SP3. I do not use zone alarm. The thing that worries me is that I can't do a system restore. Does anyone have any suggestions?

gang I found an old post here that describes my situation, something I caused but don't know how to undo.
The system in question has Windows XP Professional, and MS Office 2000 Professional, the main reason for which is OUTLOOK. When Outlook cranks up it triggers an error message which is in my subject line:
"Outlook requires Microsoft Outlook Express 4.01 or greater....". The system of course also has OE6 on it which we don't use, but it does work etc.

The issue is me: I use autoruns to shut off everything non-mandatory, and, as another thread-poster identified, there is something in the list of goods that I have disabled that OE is dependent on, if I understand the old thread properly. The problem is that the poster [OP] in that thread said he found the key, but he didn't NAME THE ENTRIES
Thus, I dunno which ones he reversed that made the issue go away.

if anyone knows, pls let me know, so I can fix my goof.

Recently I have noticed my Dell Vostro laptop has been very slow in booting to a point where I can actually do something with any speed.

I had been reading various forums regarding the problem and the general consensus was that removing unnecessary start-up programs would assist. This I did, and included in it was the removal of Outlook Express as a start-up as I never use it.

I was rather startled to find that the next time I started up Outlook I get the message indicated in the title. When acknowledging the message, Outlook still opens and functions correctly as far as I can see, but this message always coming up is getting a little tedious.

Why would a company require the lesser of two programs to be loaded and started in order that their more powerful program should work? Amazing thought processes at MS.

I have seen answers for this question elsewhere and I have tried their solutions but to no avail. That includes setting IsInstalled in registry key 881dd1c5-3dcf-431b-b061-f3f88e8be88a to a Dword value of 1.

What I have found, is the key {44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C} and {7790769C-0471-11d2-AF11-00C04FA35D02} in registry directory HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\AutorunsDisabled. As the first refers to Outlook Express 6 and the other to Address Book 6 I assume that this may have something to do with my problem.

If they are the problem, is there a way of moving these keys out of AutorunsDisable and back into Instal... Read more

My friend just had her computer reformatted after a bad virus contamination. It is still running EXTREMELY slow but has at least been running correctly. She is running XP

Yesterday I installed Microsoft Office 2003 for her with Microsoft Outlook and now her email doesn't seem to be working. She uses Outlook Express as her mail default rather than Office Outlook but keeps getting the error message that it can't find the POP3.

I also installed AVG for her and have shut off the email plugin to see if that is part of the problem.

The thing is, it happened yesterday right after I installed these programs for her but then a minute later her email worked just fine. Now she just restarted her computer and the mail won't work again.

Is there something wrong with her computer or is it at the server?

I hope this all makes sense.

Not really possible. Can you set your mail up on another machine to see if that behaves the same? If Outlook is being buggy, try a different and better e-mail handler, such as Thunderbird - Mozilla Firefox browser's sister programme. Download it from - you don't need to set it as Default until you're sure you like it but you can import settings and files from Outlook without losing their use in Outlook.

The message probably came from the mail server. Some ISPs limit the number of recipients for a single message (like maybe 20). If you are using a corporate server, you should talk to the administrator.

Hi all

I work for a company that sends out three newsletters a day. I have been having serious problems after people receive our newsletters, sometimes a link will get corrupt and its always the same way...

it adds an "!%" into the link address.

Its not always in the same spot but always in a link.

I've tried three different mailing softwares. It happens to all of them so I think i can rule that out.

It seems AOL subscribers get the links just fine but outlook users get this problem quite often.

Anyone ever hear or know about this?

I am having a big problem which I can't seem to solve on my own and REALLY need some help! Somehow, while searching for a foreign language translation feature I must have turned on the speech recognition feature of Outlook. Now when I am trying to write an email, nothing will print when I go to type in my message text. I can type in the "subject" area OK, but when I go to type within the message part of my email, nothing happens. Through clicking around I found that if I click on the "A" icon just above the message window in the toolbar, then the typing feature is active and I am able to type in my message, but otherwise it will not work. I have looked in HELP in both Outlook and Microsoft Office Word to find out how I can get my email program back to the default settings - just plain old "type in your message" stuff - but I just can't seem to find the answer. Microsoft is no help because the program was installed by the people who custom build my computer and they referred me back to them. The computer guys can't figure it out either because it is a software "issue".... I must add that Outlook worked great until I started clicking around to find out about the language translation feature. So, if anyone can send me instructions on how the hell to turn off this voice recognition feature (and I am assuming this is the issue here) so I can get back to my regular email business, please do so ASAP. The right button (menu button) does not bring up any menus over the application button. The right button will bring up menus elsewhere. When I sent a message and when I was using Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, I had an option that enabled me to add a photo following or preceding my text. This option enabled me to put a photo in the text area and place text under or above the photo explaining the photo. I am now running Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 using Windows Home Premium 64 bit and I cannot find this option. If this is no longer an option, how can I place a photo in the text area and then follow with text explaining the photo? If this is not possible, I guess this new version is a downgrade!
Thanks in advance and I will appreciate an answer.

This problem concerns my father's laptop which runs on Windows XP Home SP3 and has Microsoft Outlook 2007 installed on it. I think my father updated from Outlook 2003 to 2007, and from the very start (since he has been using 2007), he has been getting the following message on opening the program:
"There was a problem reading one or more of your reminders. Some of the reminders may not appear."
My father tried deleting all the reminders, then he tried using a program feature called clean switch or something, and nothing has worked.
Does anyone know what's going on and what can be done to solve this problem? Thank you in advance for your time and answer(s).

I have a problem that when I do “Export” the contacts in “CSV” format (to import to Gmail), the phone numbers which originally start with “0” appear in CSV file without 0. For example, a contact has a mobile number “03214023900” saved in Microsoft Outlook but when I export it to CSV format, the mobile number appears “3214023900”. A:Import email to Microsoft Outlook - problem

Have you tried adding the backup PST files as secondary data files. Once you do this you can view them and move the emails over to the new PST file.

To add the backup PSTs, go to the Tools menu and choose 'Options'. When the setup screen opens, go to the 'Mail Setup' tab and then click on 'Data Files'. Depending on your version, there should be an 'Add' button either on the right side of the setup screen or on the top. Click 'Add' and navigate to where you have stored your backup PSTs. Choose the PST with your previous email. After you have added the data file (PST), close the setup menus and check your folder list. You should see a new "Personal Folders" added to the bottom of the folder view list. Expand it and you should see your old emails. You can then highlight and drag them to your new Inbox.

Hope this helps you retrieve your email.

It is not a big issue as all I do is to click "do Not send Report"

I am trying to uninstall and reinstall microsoft outlook 2000. I want to be able to start up outlook with no user information in contacts, no calendar entries, no mail accounts etc.
I am able to uninstall (and reboot) and have run Eraser2000 (from the ms website) to clean the registry....but everytime I reinstall from my disks and restart outlook, all the user data is still there.

I am trying to figure out how to reset the software back to the first time it was loaded and start from scratch. I can't find the files MS stores the user data in to delete. I have tried to delete a bunch of other stuff MS recommends in a tech note, but all those folders say they are locked by another user when I try to delete.

The real reason I am doing this is I use the sharing (Net Folders) feature of outlook 2000 to run one calendar on 2 PCs. I have had this working for 2 years, but outlook recently started crashing on the master PC. I am trying to get the sharing working again but have not been able to. So, I figure the best way to get it working again is to reinstall and start from scratch, but I am not able to start from scratch.

I can reinstall with the old data coming up, start up file sharing like it is supposed to do, but it never starts sending the email messages to synch up the 2 calendars.

So, any thoughts on how to find the outlook data files and remove them or how to get my calendar sharing working again would be appreciated.

Does anyone know the filepath where Microsoft Outlook 2007 saves emails by default? I have set my Outlook to delete messages from my online inbox after retrieving it. However, due to unforseen circumstances, I am unable to run Microsoft Outlook anymore. However, I want to retrieve and backup my old email messages before performing a re-install. I'd be very grateful if anyone can tell me how I can achieve this.

A:Solved: Microsoft Outlook

Hi H3r0.

If you're connecting to a company Exchange server, your old emails will not be deleted off the server - you can simply reinstall Outlook and your emails will be downloaded again after you set up your Exchange account. Regardless, an offline copy of your email is stored at:
C:\ Documents and Settings\ username\ Local Settings\ Application Data\ Microsoft\ Outlook\ outlook.ost.
So, if your email is on a company Exchange server, deleting this outlook.ost file is fine.

However, if you're using POP mail or similar to connect to your own non-exchange email, your emails will be saved in a file with a .PST extension inside the folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\user_id\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

It is wise to make a copy of this before reinstalling. Read the following article on how to import your old email into a newly installed copy of Outlook.

If any of you remember me asking for help in another forum, my p.c. eventually crashed completely due to failing capacitors (they say from being left on for too long)

Not to worry I thought, and copied the entire contents of my C drive over to my D drive. For some reason, the XP backup facility wouldn't work.

I now have a new MOBO, processor and RAM and installed XP onto what was my C drive formatted (I copied it all see!)

Having now installed XP Office (2002) I am trying to find my old mail, some of which is legal in nature and quite important. How would I go about this?

Simply trying to open the files is met with "the operation failed."

Another option that occurred to me was to copy/paste into the new outlook directory, replacing the empty (new) files with the old ones.

Will this latter method work, and if so, what are the file extensions of the stored mail folders?

Hello everyone. Some of you may know me; a few months back I requested help on a malware issue I was having with my computer. My recent problem (if you can call it that) is not so much a nuisance as it is a slight nagging thing that I've been meaning to fix.

During the February of 2005, my old computer (And I mean old- it was a Compaq from 1998) decided to kick the bucket, and so my family shelled out some money to purchase a newer model computer. It's a Dell computer running off of Windows XP: Home Edition. When I had set it up, I created both my account (as an administrator), my parent's (also an administrator), and my kid brother's (a regular user).

Now, I had decided to do most of the basic set-up on my account, since I'm the one that is most computer-savvy in my family. As a result, I set up our sole e-mail account under my account name. After a bit of troubleshooting, I managed to get the server working (Cox Communications, if it matters), and all e-mail from our family's account was able to flow in and out.

Now we fast forward to this year. It has recently come to my attention that I would like to create an account solely for me, for me to contact friends and family I've met in various places. As such, I would like to move the "family" e-mail account from my Administrator account to my parent's, and then place my new e-mail address into my account. The only problem is this:

I've gone to "Tools: E-Mail Acc... Read more

About a month ago when I was making a new image, I migrated from Outlook Express to Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 (always used the rest of Office but never the email till I made this image) as this is what most work places use where I have worked,

However when I open Microsoft Office Outlook I have it set to send/receive as soon as connected (is what the settings says) most of the time when I open this program it down loads strait away emails from my service provider that has arrived, but every so often it does nothing.

When I open the program I don’t even get the "send/receive complete" message which tells me that there are no emails or it has finished down loading them, and I have to click on the send/receive and then emails down load.

Would anyone know why it does not always do the down load thing every time?

I know not a biggy as far as problems go, but i never encountered this in Outlook Express. Apart from that, it's working perfectly, it's just i am not up on the knowledge as much on Microsoft Outlook as i am with Outlook Express, even though i used it in the work situation and provided desktop support for it,

However, when there are no Email messages incoming, then my Computer is working perfectly fine.
But it's just when you receive a new msg that the computer get stuck for a few seconds and then
works fine again. Well, the RAM on the Computer is 2 GB and the free space on the Hard disk is

The memory upgrade didn't have anything to do with it. It's a view setting. I don't have Office 2003 installed anymore, so I can't give you specific steps. You'll have to look over the different view settings for the various folders in Outlook to compare them and make the necessary changes.

A:Solved: Removing Microsoft Outlook ??

You most commonly get Outlook and it automatically becomes the default program when you install any of the Microsoft Office suites and sometimes using one of those associated programs will invoke Outlook and it may have asked you if you wanted to use Outlook now as your default program, maybe not. Whichever doesn't matter, its a fact right?

To get OE back as the default always used to be as simple as going to your internet properties in the control panel and under the programs tab, set the email and newsgroups (if used) back to Outlook Express instead of Outlook. Give that a try if you haven't.
