Nero 7 Ultra Edition - Cannot start Nero Burning ROM

Q: Nero 7 Ultra Edition - Cannot start Nero Burning ROM

When i click on Nero Burning ROM, it does not open at all. All that happens is i get a windows error report telling me that nero.exe encountered a problem. I have succesfully used this many times before, but one day it just stopped working.

Any idea of what is wrong?

I don't take credit for this work-around fix because I read it on another forum. I have applied it to my copy of this program and it seems to be working fine - so far.

If you don't know what the problem is and haven't experienced it yet, I'll try to explain it.

After the program is installed, everything will work fine - until you open and close the "Nero Express" part of it and then try to open the "Nero Burning ROM" part of it. When you do, an error message will appear and the program will shut down. All other parts of the program will work, except for the "Nero Burning ROM" part of it.

Anyway, here is the work-around fix:

Go to C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core.

Right-click nero.exe, then click Properties - Compatibility(tab).

Place a checkmark in Run this program in compatibility mode for:, select Windows 2000, then click Apply - OK.

That's all there is to it.

This is my other thread which lead me to discovering the work-around fix:

Click the link on #3. When the new webpage appears, scroll down to yianni's reply.

I just recently purchased and installed Nero Burning ROM Ultra Edition

All the other functions of this program appear to be loading and working okay, except for the "Nero Burning ROM" link in the "Audio" and "Data" sub-menu.

It starts to load, then an error message window appears with the message:

"Nero.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

The following information is present under Details:

Mod Name: bcgcbpro730.dll
App Name: nero.exe
App Ver:
Mod Ver:
Offset: 0011d51b

I have rebooted, but the problem persists.

Is this a "bug" in this new version? Would a reinstall do any good?

Sometimes, this problem can be caused by an incompatibility with iTunes and Nero 6. Do you have iTunes installed?

If I download .avi's that are video clips, can I just burn them onto dvd's and they will play on north american dvd players?? or is there something special i need to do first...also with multiple clips, how will it play them??? is there a way to seperate or anything??? thanks!!!

A:Nero 6 Ultra Dvd Burning

Only the most recent DVD players can play .avi's directly and even then you have to choose a model that can - most can't. You'll probably have to convert/make a videoCD (VCD) or a super videoCD (SVCD) out of them onto a normal CD disc or convert to DVD video for playback on a DVD disc.

I've been processing my daughter's home movies. I used the dvd recorder at SP to place on dvd. One of the projects is 1 hr 56m 23 secs in length taking up 4.38GB. Using the above Nero package once chaptered and menu are done and I'm prepared to burn it's 4.00GB. I've did a number of projects without a problem and the quality is stated in Nero as excellent and I'm very happy with the burned dvd.

However, over the past week or so I've been struggling because I don't find a problem with the editing of the project, it'll still be around the 4.00GB in length but when processing in Nero it always ends up at 4.37GB and quality stad as Very Good and not Excellent.

I've tried various differend original dvd projects of my daughter and the resulst are always the same. I've uninstalled Nero and re-istalled, same problems.

i tries burning 4 .avi films on to a dvd format disc as a data dvd but it did not work, is this the right burning process to use?

A:Solved: nero 7 ultra edition

psychoclown said:

is this the right burning process to use?Click to expand...

That depends on the purpose of the disc. If you are making a backup of the AVI or want to play them on another computer then you have it right. Some newer standalone DVD players may also be able to read and play AVI files ona data DVD.

If you want to make a Video DVD out of the AVI files that will play on most new and older standalone DVD players, then you need to use the Nero Vision CD/DVD component of Nero to author (convert video file formats, add menus) and burn the disc.

EDIT: You will need to wait for someone else here to help you if you have specific questions or problems with Nero 7. I am still using Nero 6.

I've read a lot about problems installing Nero 8 in Windows Vista. I've recently purchased this software and would like to be certain that it will install with no problems. Some people say to disable User Account Control before installing it, as well as disabling the firewall and Windows Defender.
Can anyone tell me what should be done before running the installation of Nero?

A:How should I install Nero 8 Ultra Edition

Welcome Dave,

It appears that you are right, there are conflicts with Vista and Nero. I found this page, in which one poster shows how he solved the problem
CAUTION: Nero 8 problem with Vista - Tech Support Guy Forums

I must admit that I am not familiar with Nero, but I have installed many programs. Some precautions that you may want to take include:

Prior to the install do a maintenance on the computer, defrag, disc cleanup, delete temp folders etc.

I think the most important thing you may try that is not mentioned too often, is to correct any corruption that may be in your OS.

Go to search type cmd (do not hit enter), run as administrator. In cmd type sfc /scannow. This will give you a report of any corruption that is found and try to correct it. If errors are found run the sfc 3 times.

Follow these steps and you will be enjoying Nero.

Take care and good luck

I think that you will be ok

I think the problem might have something to do with the windows XP's ability to burn files within the OS. When you put the CD in, does it take you to your cd burner drive? If so, just close that window and then open nero with nothing open. Should work ok.

Hi guys,
I suppose this isn't a new thread, but i have been searching in the forum for something similar but couldnt find anything,Iam currently trying to continue a multisession with Nero 6 Ultra Edition on a DVD. The data iam trying to burn is being burnt on the same writer i used for the previous data, and when i choose to continue the multisession no problems come up, not even during the burn process. The burn is complete and when i re insert the DVD the new data is nowhere to be seen. Only the previous folders are shown. But on Nero the newly burnt data is displayed, and is shown as though it has been written already on the DVD. What am i doing wrong?? hope someone can help me out here.
Thanks for any help given!!!!

A:Continue Multisession with Nero 6 Ultra Edition

Try finalising (closing) the DVD.

Each time you add a session, you risk losing access to the previous data if the TOC does not get written correctly.

I avoid multisession completely for important data. It adds unneccesary risk for the existing data, the disks are cheap enough now to not need to bother multisession.

I have been using nero 7 ultra for the last couple of years. I have been able to burn a 4.7 gig in about 4 to 5 minutes. I backup my image files on these. I do photography for a living so I do this almost on a daily basis. Most of the time I use at lease one dvd and sometimes two. The other day I turned on my computer and it was making a noise so I turned it off and called a tek person. He turned on my computer and told me it was just a small fan at the back of my drive. My computer has a array system ( not sure if that is how you spell it) anyway it backs up data also. The tek person did'nt turn off my machine he just removed the drive and replaced the fan. This is when all my problems started. I had to reinstall photoshop and my nero also did'nt work. I reinstalled photoshop and nero but now nero burns very slow it takes 1 hour to burn my dvd's now. I have went into nero and it has a part that says check drive speed. It gives me drive speeds but they are still very slow. I have no idea what to do. The person that screwed it up is no where to be found or is avoiding me. I have call his phone!!! What is the answer?

A:Very slow burning speed on nero ultra 7 ?

The same problem happened to me on Nero 8 on the other pc about a week ago. But no one had touched the computer (I mean, the computer was being used for normal use)

I have to try and re install nero and see what happens

If there is any fix for this pls tell us.

My dvd burner came bundled w/ Nero express,Nero5.5.(4months ago)
In a very recent MONARCH ad Nero 6 is offered for$ oem .
Next,I see a big PC mag. article about the $100 Nero 6 Ultra.
Can anyone shed light on this confusion? and should I just stick w/ 5.5 or go for an upgrade...
BTW Nero's web site didn't answer this line of questions at all.

A:Nero 6 vs.Nero 6 ultra

Nero 6 Ultra has a lot of auxiliary programs in with the package. I have Ultra and I have never compared it to the Nero 6 OEM that I also have here; but, I can say that with the exception of one movie I copied for backup, all I do with mine is simply burn data backups to DVDs and Nero 6 OEM (Basic) will do that just fine.

You can get cheap OEM copies of many softwares at That's where I get most of my OEM software.

I know this doesn't fully answer your question; but, perhaps someone will happen along who can.

Can easily use Nero to Copy a set of data files to a data DVD and read them back.

HOWEVER canNOT copy more files to the DVD because it detects that the DVD is NOT empty and therefore it will erase any existing data to write the new files.

Surely I can copy files today and copy more tomorrow.
What am I doing wrong??

A:Nero Ultra

I'm not sure of the settings for Nero Ultra as I'm still using one of the older versions which are a little less 'fluffy' but previous versions have always had the option of putting a second session on the disk without deleting files already on there.

When you copy the files, make sure you are not using DAO write method as this is a Disk At Once, and will finalise the disk, and I think there will be a setting in there which is saying something like "Delete archived files which are not being updated" - make sure this is NOT on.

Hope this helps.

There is no need to install your CD version of Nero. Uninstall it first. Use the nero clean tool to make sure it's gone completely
Then get the latest version of 6 from their website
Install that and enter your serial number into that version instead. If the serial number is valid then it will unlock it.

I purchased Nero Ultra 7 'enhanced' in Dec of 06, it was a bit 'buggy' but I was able to tolerate it.
On Nov 5th/07 I installed in on my wife's laptop and the very next day, the option to burn a DVD was not available from the menu on my PC. It's available on her laptop though.
I immediately sent an email to Nero to ask why, it's been 5 business days with no reply as to why this happened.
I'm thinking that Nero thinks that I've pirated this software, but you'd think you could install it on at least 2 computers?
I've tried to uninstall and reinstall with no success.

i recently purchased nero 7 ultra, + im having problems copying my dvd collection. i have about 300 dvds + all my friends + family borrow a few now + again. usually when i get them back they are scratched or i dont get them back. i thought if i bought nero7 it would solve my problems, + i could keep the originals in good condition. its actually added to the problem as the manual isnt very clear in explaining how to copy my dvds. i also have sonic7 but couldnt get that to copy dvds either. the only thing that let me copy them was clonedvd2 with dvdregion + css free. i also have virtual clone drive +dvdshrink v3.2. can someone please shed some light on how to copy dvds with nero7? im ready for taking it back to the shop(pcworld) + sticking with clonedvd2 + dvdregion + css free. i would be greatful for some help as i dont know where to go from here. thank you

A:cant copy my dvds with nero 7 ultra. !HELP!

If you have Nero installed on your computer and DvdShrink all you need to do is open the dvd with DvdShrink, reauthor pick the main movie, then click backup and choose your dvd burner as the location then click OK and DvdShrink will do all the work. You don't even have to open Nero.

Hey Guys and Gals I’m desperate for some logical assistance and I know the people frequenting this site carry great knowledge. I bow to you and am humbled by your greatness. I have recently installed a new LG GGC-H20L. After fighting with Cyberlink for a week I have removed all Cyberlink S/W please do not go there I already know more about Cyberlink than Cyberlink Tech support and refuse to have in my life.
Tonight I have downloaded a full legal version of Nero 8 Ultra with HD. This app should play in HD (BD & HD) and produce Dolby Digital signal to my audio device. I know the hardware is cool because I can use the WIN-DVD4 with the new hardware to play older non HD DVD and the digital decoding light on my receiver lights up, as it has for years when playing digital audio, regardless of the source. The receiver and the PC have been linked for at least 3 years with no prior issues.
The only current issue is I can not get full audio sound while watching a DVD in Nero ShowTime, I can get a faint audio track on some scene and also I get some back ground audio and music track when they are present but that is all and no digital decoding light from receiver. Below are some specs on my "Black Box” If you could lend a hand I would be grateful and try to find a way to repay you for your expertise.
I have gone back to the audio hardware that come on the MB (DFI 590 SLI) on S/PDIF. Uses Realtech HD.
I also have audiophile card but not useing it while researching this issue.... Read more

Under file name length in Nero 6 Ultra's Compilation Properties dialog box, I can choose ISO level 1 (eight-dot-three) or ISO level 2 (31 characters). I can also select or deselect
Joliet (Secondary volume descriptor and directories using Unicode)
What difference does it make whether I choose ISO level 1 or ISO level 2 if I select to enable Joliet (Secondary volume descriptor and directories using Unicode)? Obviously, there is a benefit or consequence of the choice. What is it?

And, how will enabling Joliet (Secondary volume descriptor and directories using unicode) affect the other selections below?
Under Character Set, I have ISO9660, DOS and ASCII. What are the consequences or advantages of choosing one over the other.

Under Relax ISO Extensions, I can choose to select or deselect
Allow path depth more than 8 directories
Allow more than 255 characters in path
Do not add the ',1' ISO file version extension

Under Relax Joliet Extensions, I can choose to select or deselect
Allow more than 64 characters for Joliet names

Will the selection of any of the above make any DVD I burn, unreadable in Windows 9x and up?

And what is the ,1 ISO file version extension?

Nero 6 updated ultra. INCD is installed but after formatting a Memorex,
or any other R-RW Media disk,
when a file is dropped in to the INCD drive
INCD won't write to it, a massage pop up that says the "disk is write protected or other application is using it",
I scanned for viruses and there are none on w2k.
Spyware, and bugs are not present as well,
w2k, DM say that the SONY DRU R-RW DVD 510a, the device is working properly,
in my computer the drive is listed as INCD drive and that is correct,
it show the disk size,
but not the available free space of a empty and formatted R-RW disk,
or as for example:
In wxp pro (Same Rig different Partition) and the same Nero 6 ultra updated version,
INCD is doing it's job writing to R-RW media and my computer show the free space available of the R-RW Media.
Now back to W2k is there a known problem with w2k INCD and how does one fix this.

I downloaded Mandrake Linux ISO and since I don't often burn an ISO to a disk, I referred to Nero's Help file. You need read no further than step two below to address this question. Here's what it says:
Burning the image file
This is a step-by-step guide to burning a previously created image file using Nero:
1.) Select the command Choose Recorder from the Recorder menu and select the recorder installed (not the image recorder) and confirm the selection using OK.
2.) From the File menu select the Write CD Image command.
3.) A dialog box will open and you can select the image file you would like to burn. Nero currently supports NRG, ISO and CUE-Sheet formats. Select the desired file and click on the Open button. The Write CD dialog box will then open – the procedure is the same as for producing a new compilation but the Burn tab is now in front.
4.) Now check all settings on this and other tabs one more time and amend where necessary.
5.) Confirm your selection by clicking on the Burn button. Nero now carries out all the necessary stages as defined. A status window will appear showing the stages implemented and informing you how the burn process is progressing. As soon as Nero has finished the write process, a window will appear with a result message such as "Burn process 24x (3600 KBs) successful".
6.) Click on the OK button to close the dialog box. The CD is then ejected. The messages shown can either be saved, printed or discarded. Close the w... Read more

When I tried to install my Nero 7 Ultra on Vista Home Premium, it would tell me that there are known issues with this version.

I solved the problem that I had with installing Nero 7 Ultra.

There is a Nero 7 update here, The download list Vista in the system requirements. I downloaded the update, 332MB, and installed it. The download had a preinserted serial no. When it installed, it was a demo version with an option to upgrade. I put the serial no., product key, for my Nero 7 Ultra in to upgrade and it changed to Nero 7 Ultra.

I messed up trying to install Pinnicle ver. 7 after Nero and had to restore to before I installed Nero. That uninstalled Nero. When I reinstalled Nero, I replaced the pre inserted serial no. with the one from the Nero 7 Ultra and it installed the Ultra instead of the demo. I did not have to use my Ultra disk to install it.

Maybe this will help someone else.

Hello Everyone I just found this forum.

I have just purchased Nero 7 Ultra after upgrading from Nero 6 and I like to play around with video media and pictures.

Can someone clearly explain how to remove Close Captions (another language) in the movie from a avi format using Nero 7 Ultra or provide me with a hyperlink to the directions?
I did attempt to use recode but I did not see any directions on how to remove the subtitles in the media.

Thanks for any help or guidance you can offer.

I recently purchased Nero 6 Ultra, installed it, went to the website and downloaded and installed the upgrades and patches, but when I tried to burn a DVD for the first time, I received this error message: Unable to prepare data for recording: Failed to get disc content. I've tried burning this same project several times and each time I get the same error at the same place.

It seems to go all the through the ''transcoding'' process of the menus and the file itself, but then it fails, and the above error message pops up before any actual burning begins. I've saved the error log generated each time it fails. It's a long file, so I'll include the part that seems important in this post:

A:Nero 6.6 Ultra dvd burn failure

I had this same problem in NeroVision Express 3 (NVE) with the error message:
Unable to prepare data for recording: Failed to get disc content

I got the error several minutes after starting to burn a DVD movie that was based on three AVI files that I had captured from my DV camcorder. After much investigation I determined that the problem was that one of the AVI files was corrupted about halfway through. Apparently NVE3 choked on file (when it got to the corrupted part) and then NVE provided the aforementioned (unhelpful) error message. I suppose that NVE might give this same error message when it encounters any kind of corrupted audio or video file, like MPG, AVI, WMV, MP3, etc.

You can solve the problem by either recapturing the video file (hopefully uncorrupted), or by running a video repair tool on the video file. There are several video fix tools available for free, such as DivFix. There are several such tools listed on website.

Good luck!

Help. I know I'm being a little lazy, but I've been sifting through these help manuals for a while, and I have to put together a highlight reel soon! If someone can just point me in the right direction I know I can get the rest...

I've been filming my football games with a JVC- Everio HDD camcorder, I have Nero 7 Ultra. What I want to do is make a DVD highlight film while adding my own soundtrack. Which app do I use? Thanks in advance.

A:Making highlight film....Nero 7 Ultra

Thats a camera that captures mpeg2 files, notoriously difficult to edit. (The idea is to edit generic avi files then convert to mpeg2 for distribution on DVD's) Editing of MPEG files does not guarantee you a 100% success rate because MPEG files are compressed. That means MPEG2 video have frames that with incomplete information. To save space, sections or parts of the clip that did not change from the previous frame are not saved. These may be called B or P frames. Frames with complete information are called "i Frames". If a non-i-frame is used for editing, the video quality will probably decrease; as well as having a possible problem with the audio/video sync. It will also require heavy CPU usage because of decompression/compression process thus increasing the possibility that the rendering will fail.

Check out Ulead---they might have something you can use.

I have a GeForce 8600 video card and it boasts this PureVideo technology to enhance DVD playback. I thought that by simply buying the card would be all I needed to do to enjoy the benfits of this PureVideo stuff but now I'm not too sure. I also have Nero7 Ultra Enhanced which comes with Nero Showtime , Nero's media player.
I notice that Nero Showtime has a box in the options that is to enable hardware acceleration, so if I enable it does that mean my PureVideo technology will now be enabled ?
I am confused because I read somewhere that I need to buy NVidia's PureVideo decoder separately and that it doesnt work with some other dvd players such as PowerDVD . I am pretty sure that Nero also supports all of the newest formats and I dont want to buy an encoder if I dont need one.
I went to the NVidia website and it says that the decoder is a plug-in designed to work with windows media player(WMP) and is windows media center edition certified but I really don't want to use WMP as my primary DVD player.
Does anybody know anything about the purevideo technology and what I need to do to get it to work ? Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have been using Nero Burning ROM (Nero 6 Ultra) for several months. Until now, it always opened with two windows, one to select files to burn from and one to drop them into. Suddenly, I am presented with a single window, no window to choose files from, only the window to drop them into.

I tried clicking Window and choosing a window arrangement from the drop-down menu as I have done from time to time; but, the selections are all grayed out.

Anyone else ever experienced this and have a solution?

Nero Burning ROM crashed during burning and now my DVD drive is unusable. I cannot open the drive, I cannot shut down the computer because it says "Waiting for DVD Drive D:" and the drive runs like it is still burning despite the program doing the burning is no longer open. It isn't even in any process. What can I do to make the drive stop?

A:Nero Burning ROM crashing caused perpetual burning from DVD Drive

Go to Task Manager...shut the system down from there.
Turn system off....hard shutdown if necessary...disconnect the optical drive.
Sounds to me like it's a hardware problem moreso than a software problem if you cannot manually open the drive.

I tried putting Nero 7 ultra in my computer running Vista 64 Ultimate the other day - version 7.2.70 i think - but it wouldn't install due to being incompatible, so it cancelled the installer and stated that nothing had been modified and sorry i couldn't run the program on my version of Windows, fair enough.

I've now got Nero 8, but it will not install due to - yep you guessed it - Nero 7 being installed on my computer! It asks me to remove the older version before installing Nero 8, which i have done using the click yes to allow Nero to remove it and no for a manual removal by myself: also, i have Vista searched and removed all traces of Nero from my folders plus have run Wise reg cleaner AND manually checked msconfig/ regedit for any remnants to make sure i've got it all.

However, i still get the remove nero 7 before installing nero 8 message and the problem is this: nero 7 will not uninstall and i get this pop-up everytime:

Windows Installer has stopped working. Program will now close.

Then, followed by this:

Internal Error
Custom Action DLL crashed on last call in function
'NeroAg_UnregisterComEx'. The installer must now exit.

I'm using windows xp home.

A couple of the pictures in my slide show are too big I guess. I did reduce the size of one pic to 250x199 and things are lost at the top and bottom. Another picture is 560x420 and on the sides I lose some stuff that goes over the edge of my TV when I play the DVD.

So reducing the pics didnt seem to help.

Then I right clicked on pics in the timeline, and selected Crop. That seems like its supposed to help me make the pic fit the TV screen, but no luck.

What am I doing wrong?

When I watch the slide show using the Nero play and view screen, the pictures are fine, but on a burned DVD, afew pics are too big.

Download Google's Picasa 2 and install it. Let it load the original pics and export them through Picasa at a fixed resolution to a file. From this exported file, burn another DVD and see if the pictures play properly

Just bought Nero 7 Ultra for my Vista (HE) box, installed the key successfully, otherwise no probs. I can burn DVDs OK (as long as I don't use Burn-at-once as an option!). However the resulting DVDs do not allow for advance-to-time index in a given scene (or "chapter"). Using Nero 6.2 Express on my old WinME box I had no such problem. Is this a Nero software setting issues? Scenario:

1. Begin playing a chapter on the DVD
2. Click the chapter menu button on the remote.
3. Use up-down arrow keys on remote to *try* to get to timed index setting (ie, the one where if you select it and type "10:00" it will jump the scene to the 10:00 mark).
4. Can't even select that option much less use it.

Any help gr8ly appreciated.

Answer Match 83.58%

Nero 9 is mostly known for being bloatware rather than being a reliable user friendly disk burning software, sadly Nero was all that several years ago. Recently Nero has introduced a new version of Nero 9 that is free and 54MB in size. This version is a stripped down version of Nero 9 ultra and consists of Disk burning and disk copying components. And that actually is a good thing compared to the whatnots that come bundled with the other versions. So basically the free version is Nero Essentials that come bundled with most CD/DVD writers these days. However I still don?t think the free version will be a success as you will need to submit an email address to get the download link(that seems ok) but they messed it all up adding the Ask toolbar which comes as an optional component during install. All Eset users will find out that the Antivirus flags it as a ?potentially unwanted application?.

So if you really really like Nero and want only to burn or copy disks, this is for you otherwise there are lots of other smaller free applications out there.

First choice is to go to device manager & delete the cd-rw, then restart computer. PC will reinstall the hardware and you can try from there.
Secondly, in regards to Nero, you could try uninstalling software and then reinstalling.

These are based on the assumption that you do have a up-to-date virus scanner on your pc and that it is testing clean.

You need to turn DMA on on that drive.

To do that, right-click My Computer on the desktop, select Properties, Hardware tab, Device Manager. Doubleclick on "Secondary IDE Channel" on "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers", then Advanced Settings tab. Set the "Transfer Mode" to "DMA if available".

See the attached image for more help.

I have been having some problems burning CDs lately. Nero will go through the motions and successfully burn the CD, but when I go to listen to the CD the tracks will not play. Is this a problem with the software or my burner itself? Is there any kind of test I can do to check and see if my burner is working correctly? In the past CDs created from this burner have successfully worked, which is why this recent problem has been so frustrating. Thanks for any advice or support

A:Nero Burning ROM

You could put the cd in your cd-rom and open my computer. Then right click the cd-rom drive the cd is located in. Click open and check the contents of the cd. They should be called .cda files. Click on one and see if your media player can play the track correctly. Also, you could go to your control panel and click on the system icon. Then go to device manager and click the plus sign next to cd-rom. Right click the cd-writer and click delete. Re-boot your computer to freshly reload the driver for that cd-writer. Also, have you updated your NeroBurning Rom to the newest version? If not, Nero has a update feature built into their installer for there new versions of NeroBurning Rom. Last thing, some of the blank cd's out their are not the greatest quality. I purchased a pack of generic blanks cd's and they would not play my copied music in my cd player. I then purchased a pack of Maxell blank cd's and did the same thing and my music played correctly. It is a trial and error procedure when you encounter weird problems like this. I hope my input was a help to you. If not I apologize for not being able to help you.

Good luck!

hey guys, i have one of the newer nero's, and i have a problem with burning videos.

i have several say 400mb-1.5gb videos, mostly around 700mb. and im trying to make a DVD out of my .AVI's. the problem im having is that when i had 5 of the AVI's with the make a movie option, it says that it needs 30gb's of space to write on the dvd! i selected all the files via win explorer and the total size of all files is only 3.7. how/why does nero turn 3.7gbs into 30?! am i doing it wrong? is this just the way it transfers to the dvd? someone please help this is really starting to tick me off.

should i use another program maybe?

Have had Nero burning rom 5 on my computer since September 02. Didn't have any problems until recently...
Every time I try to compile a new cd, the computer crashes and completely shuts down after it has been writing for a few seconds. I have deleted and reinstalled the program, but nothing seems to help. Is it my physical cd burner?? Any thoughts?

A:Nero burning rom - please help!

I have Nero 5 on my computer and have no problems with it. You might try downloading the latest drivers from the web site and see if that helps. You can get them from:

Alternatively, you might look in your Device Manager and see if there are any yellow marks beside your CD-R drive.

just bought the Dazzle Digital Video Creator ll and converted a vhs tape with it. when I tried to put it on a video cd, not a dvd but a video cd using nero software . when I click on nero then video cd, I get a window that has a file browser then 2 more places to drag files below it. When I do a music cd I get only one place to drag files. My question is which space do you drag the video files to. the middle one or the small one on the bottom. I tried dragging them to the middle one but the write button never lights up. and when I drag them to the small space on the bottom the write button lights up but after the disk is written the file is not on it or I cant find it. can some one help me get a file written using nero to a video cd. it's been awhile, but putting video files in the bottom window will light up the "write cd" so you can burn.

I'm running a home-built PC with an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ CPU, 1.66 Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 140Gb HD space, Win XP Home, SP2.

A few weeks ago, in the process of installing a DVD drive, I loaded the comp copy of Nero to try it out. I decided that I didn't want it and went through the standard uninstall process in Control Panel. I continued to get apparent attempts by Windows Install to install Nero - Burn except it also said it couldn't find the files, so it kept throwing error messages on the screen until I finally had to use Task Manager to kill the applications.

After a few of these events, I did a search of my entire PC, for anything that contained the character string "nero" or "ahead" (the Nero company) and I deleted everything I could find. The Nero installation attempts continued.

I did a "regedit", searched for "nero" and "ahead" and deleted all references to Nero and Ahead from the register. I continued to get the Nero installation attempts.

I bought PC Rescue and Error Nuker and ran them both. It found what appeared to be the error(s) that were causing the problem and it "fixed" them. I thought I had finally beat it. I rebooted as requested and sure enough, Nero tried to install again.

According to the error messages and Task Manager, the offending applications include nero.exe, migrate.dll, webscan.exe, and numerous msiexe.exe's. Any suggestions (or better yet - a real fix) would be greatly ap... Read more

A:Nero is burning me up....

Go here and download Hijack This:

Install to Program Files, close browser windows, Scan + Log, copy/paste log into here.

There's still probably an entry in the registry or something trying to initiate the uninstall. The HJT log should show us everything trying to run at startup and allow us to fix it.

Thanks for help. I have Windows XP and Nero Cd Burning software is already loaded. I have no idea how to proceed to either copy from an existing CD or download music from the internet.
If anyone can provide instructions it would be appreciated, including what sites to go to get music(1952 to 1979 only).

Hey. Iwas reading the hardware forum, and came across a thread that mentioned nero taking up space on a HD. LOTS of space he said, and I've been burning a bunch of stuff latley and my HD really been filling up. Way dispraportionate(whew) to the rough estimate of stuff supposed to be stored on the HD. So this made me wonder, is there a file that nero stores copies of files already burned??? There was also mention of the files being hard to find?? Anybody heard of this. Thanks in Advance, Graiskye.
