A: I downloaded a program called vista inspirat 2 for my xp i think i may have a problem

Hi, I don't know what you can do about the blank windows...but, here is how you can uninstall the Vista Inspirat pack

You use the Recovery Console, not the Restore Console as it says at that site.

You may not know how to use the Console, so here you go:

To start the Recovery Console directly from the Windows XP CD you would do the following:

Insert the Windows XP cd in your computer.
Restart your computer so you are booting off of the CD.
When the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press the R button on your keyboard to start the Recovery Console.
The Recovery Console will start and ask you which Windows installation you would like to log on to. If you have multiple Windows installations, it will list each one, and you would enter the number associated with the installation you would like to work on and press enter. If you have just one Windows installation, type 1 and press enter.
It will then prompt you for the Administrator's password. If there is no password, simply press enter. Otherwise type in the password and then press enter. If you do not know your password then see this.
If you entered the correct password you will now be presented with a C:\Windows> prompt and you can start using the Recovery Console.Click to expand...

Now, you just type in the command as it says at the page....

Hey all, I have a xp machine that I am fixing for a friend that has Vista Inspirat 2 brisco packs loaded on the machine. The machine had several malware infections that were fixed. However, does not want the vista inspirat 2 (mostly because of the rocketdock) anymore. I have gone to add/remove programs and there is not an icon for bricopacks, vista inspirat 2, or the rocketdock. So I went to start and found brisco packs on the start menu and went into remove vista inspirat 2.1 and the computer does nothing. Then under same place I found a vista inspirat 2 config. When opening that there is a remove icon and I get the following error. Run time error 53, file not found. I have tried both options in and out of safe mode. I also have downloaded the revo pro installer. I tried running it and did the force install on all the .exe files I could find associated with the vista inspirat 2. The program runs and does not have any errors but upon reboot everything is the same. At this point i am thinking that XP probably will have to be reinstalled. I was jsut wondering if anyone has any other ideas or how to get rid of this program??

Hi, I am in need of help. One day while I was browsing the internet a window popped up looking exactly like a security system. It is called "Vista Security 2012-unregistered version". I believed it because I use Windows Vista Software, so I thought it was legitimate. Anyways I could not have been more wrong. I took my computer to the help desk at my University, where they tried to run the computer in safe mode. The malware is even present in safe mode. It has ruined my computer's capabilities including running Internet Explorer. I am really worried and would appreciate it greatly if someone could help me find a solution to this problem. I am a college student and cannot afford much, so the cheaper the better.

I have this exe in my desktop called hurl (hurl.exe). It got there after I tried to install some activeX to watch an online video. After it got there, I tried to delete it, but it kept saying that it was in use, so it was impossible to remove. I checked it with norton, panda, and other antivirus and spyware tools as bazooka and ad-ware, but it didn't appear as a virus either.
So, I checked in the task manager to find out if it was running or not, but i couldn't find it there. I tried running my computer in secure mode, so maybe that way it wouldn't execute itself, but got the same result (being used). I looked for it in the msconfig, but wasn't able to find it again. So, I don't know what it is, what it does, but its annoying and bothersome over there, and it might be something menaceful.
Im running on a XP home OS, using firefox, in a hp laptop, never been formatted (if it helps somehow). I will keep looking for info, maybe I will be able to find something else about it.
Thanks Beforehand

My computer has been acting weird and I've been getting a lot of pop ups even though I have my pop up blocker set to high. Yesterday, I was searching for something on Google and when I clicked on the search results, instead of getting the web site I wanted, somehow it took me to some porn site. So I closed it and tried to shut down the computer, but after it started to shut down, a message popped up saying PROGRAM NOT RESPONDING and wanted to know if I wanted to END NOW or CANCEL. The name of the program was FUDOG, I've never heard of that before. And it sounds like something I'd remember. Could you please look at my HiJack This log? Thanks so much.

I recently got Uniblue's SpeedUpMyPC program. In the startup programs section, I came across one called cjbsphiiu. It is listed as being located in c:\windows\system32\cjbsphiiu.exe I attempted to locate this directory in my computer's C:\ drive, but could not find it after showing all the hidden folders. It does not come up in a search of the system either. I have tried to find this on google and other search engines. I cannot find anything relating to this program. Is it a virus of some sort? Will stopping it from running at startup cause any problems? I really know next to nothing about computers, and this process was started because I continually get annoying pop ups that I have been unable to get rid of, as well as when I type, my computer will randomly skip spaces and letters in whatever I type. Background programs are Skype, YahooMessenger, CoffeeCup LockBox. AVG free, MalwareBytes free, CCleaner, with AVG running its overview but not its toolbar.

I sometimes notice a program show up when I shut down called "SOUND." It does not usually show in the Windows Task Manager when I hit ctrl/shift/esc. It has been in the Task Manager Applications a few times, however. When shutting down, it flashes so fast, I can't always tell if it is there, but usually I can spot the large square icon announcing it. It doesn't appear to be affecting the operation of the computer.

What is it and should I take steps to get rid of it? Thank you.

A:My PC has a program called Hades that can't be deleted

Doth indeed sound it came from down below...This link discusses getting rid of it; and also other similar pests. They mention adwcleaner, malwarebytes, RKill not the least; and these are "safe" to use and frequently advised here. may also need to run (and I would) the Kaspersky Rescue Disk. Donwload the free ISO; burn to a DVD; boot with the DVD. It's a Linux based disk which loads itself into RAM only. It will go online to update itself and then scan the entire hard drive. It can often deal more successfully with pests that can manage to secure/secrete themselves within windows when its booted up. this is a more complete "how to re" Kaspersky Rescue Disk: you install "anything" downloaded from the web, "never" allow it to install via the Automatic option; "always" use the Manual/Custom potion. Carefully check to see that there are no pre-checked boxes when you instal the app/utility; ensure you have only the box for the item itself and nothing more. That way you avoid installing al manner of "stuff" you neither want nor need. Much of that stuff makes changes to settings various; much of it can be more than that and a real PAI to eradicate... And I suspect you acquired the calling card Hades" via a download/install...Also if you haven't already; safeguard your personal files regularly by copy... Read more

A:Start-Up program called _uninst_70530835.lnk ?

Hello Phy and welcome to Seven Forums. My usual disclaimer: I'm not an expert at anything.

It's my understanding that a .LNK file is a shortcut file which is simply a pointer to an .EXE file somewhere on your system. Clicking on the shortcut is like clicking on the .EXE file and the associated program should start and run. Your unknown .LNK file appears to be associated with some kind of uninstaller. I don't think it would have anything to do with your startup files and I think you could safely disable it - probably even delete it because the asociated .EXE file should remain intact.

You could create a system restore point just in case something goes wrong. Or better yet, a system image on an external hard drive. That way you could return your computer to the same condition it was in at the time you disabled/deleted the .LNK file.

Hi, my name is david and i am in DESPERATE need!

recently, i downloaded a program called "winibluesoft" ( thniking it was an antivuris program, but it turned out to be a terible virus!

symptoms include (but not limited to) shutting off with a blue screen anytime internet is disconnected, slowed speed, and it seems to have affected my Windows Security Centre.

I am running Windows XP home edition (i think)

I have norton, but it recently expired and i do not have the money to update right now. (also i thnik it sucks anyways)

when i first downloaded it, it kept scanning my computer, but i knew it was fake because it only took like 30 seconds to "scan" my whole system. once finished this, it kept asking for my credit card number so i could buy the prgram to fix my problems (BS!!!!!)

now, after a bunch of random restarts, it doesnt show up anymore, but i can tell it is still affecting my computer. i cant find the file anywhere on my computer to uninstall.

i am willing to do anything to get rid of this thing, even if it involves rebooting my whole computer and losing all my saved files, or taking it in to a technician, whatever i just dont know what to do!

please, any help would be SOOO appreciated!!!

A:PLEASE HELP! issue regarding a program called "winibluesoft"

If you can download and run Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware do that (update each of them before using). Do a scan with each of them, rebooting inbetween scans, and let them fix whatever they find. Run Malwarebytes first as it is quicker, I would start with a quick scan of each and then go back and run a full scan of each. After scanning and rebooting rescan and if they are still showing any infected files, or if your computer is still acting like it is infected, post in the "Am I Infected" section of this forum and include your latest Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware logs. Here are the links to download those two programs.... and Avast are free antivirus programs that many people seem to really like.Btw, if those programs will not install or run after installing, try changing the name of the programs or installing and\or running in safe mode, or both. Malwarebytes works better in regular windows than safe mode, but if safe mode is the only way you can run it, give it a shot

It has been suggested that Bleachbit is a good program to help keep your computer cleaned out and running smoothly, anyone heard of it. It is not, as far as I can tell in Bleeping's software downloads.

A:Anyone heard about program called BLEACHBIT?

I use it everyday in Linux. Have it installed in Windows 7 and have used it there, too. Have experienced no problem.
It will vacuum Firefox. That is about the only difference between it and CCleaner except CCleaner has several tools besides
cleaning that are useful. You can have both for free.

I don't know where this belongs, but since someone moved my last thread here . . .

I use a program called ARC-160 to program radio scanners. The program allows me to enter hundreds of frequencies and other data, then it saves them in a file.
Normally (as recently as last week), when I click OPEN, I see all the files I have saved. Then I can choose one to edit it or create a new one.

NOW when I click OPEN, I get a Document Library and my files are NOT there.
Where can they be?

Here is a screen shot showing what I get.

Hello Dick, welcome to windows 7 support forums,
does arc use excel to create the database?
If not do you know how arc creates your files and what extension does it create.

Hi, just found while running the tools section of counterspy to see what was running that there was a program called camerafixer.exe running. Also a program called LightScribe by Hewlett Packard. I do not remember installing anything like this and am worried they are spyware programs. They are both running at startup and dont appear in my list of programs that I am able to remove ~Mod Edit: Topic moved to more appropriate forum~ TMacK

"LightScribe Frequently asked questions""CameraFixer.exe"Should be located in C:\WINDOWS\CameraFixer.exe. Hi Everyone, So I just received a computer I purchased from CyberPower Inc. and set everything up; so far things have gone smoothly except for the following: When I first booted the computer up, and every subsequent startup, I receive the following error message on the homescreen, "There is a file or folder on your computer called 'C:\Program' which could cause certain applications to not function correctly. Renaming it to 'C:\Program1' would solve this problem. Would you like to rename it now?" If I opt to rename it, then the next startup the message appears again but this time wants me to rename it to "C:\Program2". It does seemt to be causing some problems for the way internet explorer functions. I haven't finished setting up the computer/restoring my backups or anything because I don't want to go through that entire process if I am going to need to find the windows installation CD that came with the computer, reinstall the OS, etc. Any ideas here? Thank You very much in advance, I really appreciate your time!

Re: The issues I am having with internet explorer (like I said, I haven't installe Chrome yet or anything like that until I get these first few issues sorted out!)... this is a brand new system with 16GB of RAM, and i7 processor, dual video cards, etc., but IE is extremely slow/laggy, and every time I go to open a new window or tab I get the following:

"Internet Explorer Security.

A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer.

This program does not have a vaild digital signature that verifies its publisher. This program will open outside of Protected Mode, putting your computer at risk. You should only run programs from publishers you trust.

Name: C:\Program
Publisher: Unknown Publisher

Allow/Don't Allow"

As you can see... C:\Program seems to be the culprit.

Does anyone know anything about the program "Complete Delete" ? It says and I have heard that emptying the recycle bin doesn't get rid of everything. Does this actually get rid of the files etc. so no one can dig them out of the hard drive if you sell your computer or give it away.

I don't have anything of interest on my personal computer but at work it would be an advantage if it really worked.

Does anyone who repairs computers have an idea about this program?

I would appreciate your help. It's on a really good special but that may be because it is no good.

Hello and thank you for reading this! I unintentionally downloaded something called 'FantastiGames' when downloading a Torrent. It appeared on my desktop and I removed it through the control panel. However, my homepage is still set to FantastiGames search engine and I can't remove it. I did a search with HiJackThis and found files with 'fantastigames' and 'fantastigamestoolbar' in the location name - however I could not remove them from my computer, though I clicked 'fix checked' on HT they wouldn't disappear (I downloaded DSS for the logs). I'm now concerned as I don't know if it's just something annoying or something dangerous, and would be anxious to know if there is anything else running on my system that I don't know about. If you could give me any help or advice I would really appreciate that. Thank you for your time.

I am currently waiting "on line" in the virus removal forum, waiting (im)patiently for help with a virus that locked me out of my anti-virus. I did a restore to two days earlier, and firefox stopped working, plus the restoration that I did doesn't show up anymore. And there is an "Avast system restore" listed, even though I haven't touched restore since I posted in the virus forum on Nov 2, so something is definitely flakey.
So Back on Topic: I won't go near IE8, while still on XP, so I have no choice but to use chrome. (I am in the process, of getting set up with a new pc with windows 7, but I haven't been able to do that yet, so I'm still talking about XP). Chrome is so incredibly slow, it's driving me a little batty. I assumed my PC just couldn't handle chrome. But now I see that numerous autoruns were added by googleinstall. I don't know what I need, and what I don't. I'm just using chrome until I get the green light to try re-installing firefox. However, K-9 web protection is repeatedly notifying me of one or two google things that are being blocked from accessing the web, because they are in the "chat" category - a setting I chose. I don't want these applications, and they are NOT installed as plug-ins as far as I can tell.
Does anybody know what process/program/file is doing this, and how I can disable it? the only google plug-in is google update. Can I/Should i disable that? Oh, and for the record... I am using chrome WITHOUT being signed in to any... Read more

Have new system which gave me a hell of a time in getting an OS installed (XP). Finally got it although not without having to skip 2 or 3 files during install procedure. Seem to relate to WMPLAYER. CHM and two others likely related to the media player. Now my new problem lies in the IPL or BOOT process. The system will not properly BOOT on the 1st try. It will automatically restart and begin the procedure all over again. Will see the info regarding USB keyboard, RAM, etc. (it goes so damn fast I can't really read it all!). Eventually (perhaps after 2 or 3 more tries) I will see the Windows BOOT option screen (Safe mode, normal, etc.). I generally try either the Safe mode or Start normally option. These do not always work on the first try - nor perhaps the second either. So, its sitting here listening to my hand held scanner beep when initially recognized, seeing the MSI logo screen, and the system info that is normally shown at the beginning, over and over until this thing finally decides to proceed to the Windows load. Might be six or seven tries before it gets it right. May have to contact MSI technical support and see where they go with this. Am hoping they do not want me to do a BIOS FLASH!!! Am eventually going to Windows 7 and hope this issue does not carry over into that OS (although it is likely not an OS issue). Anyone else have or heard of a similar problem?? THANX! Must mention also that I get the black screen with the rectangular red and whi... Read more

Hi and welcome to TSG,

Please visit Combofix Guide & Instructions for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that along with a new HijackThis log.

Important notes regarding ComboFix:

ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making it the default browser. This can easily be changed once we're finished.

Combofix also prevents autorun of ALL CDs, floppies and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you, please let me know. This can be undone manually when we're finished.

Note: During this process, it would help a great deal and be very much appreciated if you would refrain from installing any new software or hardware on this machine, unless absolutely necessary, until the clean up process is finished as it makes our job more tedious, with additional new files that may have to be researched, which is very time consuming.

Also, please do not run any security programs or fixes on your own as doing so may compromise what we will be doing. It is important that you wait for instructions.

Windows refuses to change the version application called upon with default program.

I have 2 versions of 3ds max (2010 and 2015) on my system. I need both for different utilities (some that work in 2010 do not work in 2015, and vice versa).

I tried to change the default left click open program to 3ds max 2015.

However, Windows refuses to acknowledge this and insists on using 3ds Max 2010's 3dsmax.exe instead.

I am using the correct path to the launcher in the 2015 version's folder, I made sure of this at least 15 times.

I have gone through regedit tutorials, even downloaded a utility called openwithview, and tried working with the UI interface for 'open with' for hours but to no avail. Why is windows so insistent on using 3dsmax.exe from the 2010 version even when explicitly told to use the 2015 version? What is causing it to fight so hard with me? How can I change this behavior?

Had a missing dll file on my new laptop with Win 10. Search suggested a programme called "Dll-Files Fixer". I used it and it re-installed the one missing file in the trail programme. For more it asks for a stiff payment. Is that worth it ?

A:Is 3rd-party program called Dll-Files Fixer worth its money?

Best advice is to "ignore" any of these "we find and fix it - problem solvers" as they invariably are more a scam; designed to hook in the unwary and extract cash......Most of them will generate a list of problems "they" have found; and then of course ask for money to resolve them. Frequently these problems either don't exist, or are easily resolvable without their help (and your money).Remove the app from your computer and run ccleaner (a freebie cleaner utility well regarded here; and which will remove all manner of such "junk". it using the custom/manual option - not the automatic. Carefully watch for and uncheck any pre-checked boxes (other than one for the utility itself); as that way you will avoid installing all manner of other nuisances...Incidentally how did you discover you were missing a file in win-10; and Was win-10 working OK regardless?

If you have a Restore Point from before from before you deleted the files, you can try restoring it.
When you list your Restore Points, you can "Scan for affected programs" to see if zoomdownloader is listed.

I searched in their website for a version that could be installed in windows 2k, but I ran into a lot of .tar files which can only be used with Linux OS (I think). In their website though they do mention that it has been installed succesfully in win 2k. Can anyone tell me of a much easier way to install this program without the use of .tar files please thank you.

A:Is there an easier way to install the network monitoring program called NMIS

You should be able to open those TAR files with winrar and maybe even winzip.

*.TAR files are just compressed files like ZIP and RAR. They are mostly found in the MAC world, but still, winzip or winrar should be able to decompress them for you.

I'm wondering if I'm infected with something.  I've not noticed any odd behavior, yet I found an installed program called "Driver Install 64bit" with a company name of "Your Company Name" version 1.00.000, size 1.73MB.  I uninstalled it and saw no identifying information in the uninstall process.  I am worried.
I've been using Synmantec AV but uninstalled it about a month ago as it was constantly trying to get me to install more of its component despite telling it no.  I have been relying on Windows Defender and uBlock Origin in my browsers with whitelisting trusted sites like this one.  I use this PC exclusively for business and to not browse around much and I'm careful about opening emails and attachments.  I consider myself someone who would not fall prey to social engineering, yet there is this program I found.  My searches on the program name seem to indicate that it is some kind of generic framework and is used by a lot of folks, however, I assume they are supposed to change the company name which, since they did not, worries me.
I'm using Windows 10 Pro on a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga S1

Ok, so the problem I'm having is that, when running Vista, whenever I install a program or game of a large size, such as 2GB's+, Vista will slowly utilize all of my RAM. It'll start off at let's say 1.25GB's in use, and slowly build up in increments of 0.01GB's every second during install, (1.26GB's, 1.27GB's, 1.28GB's, etc.) until it finally gets to 4GB's (the amount of RAM I have installed). I'm not really quite sure why it does this, but it's VERY annoying. Especially when installing something big that can end up taking hours because of all the RAM being utilized. Another thing that's annoying is that my computer is COMPLETELY useless during all this as I can't open any program because the RAM is so low. Takes 3-4 minutes just to open Firefox up sometimes and 3-4 minutes to load each page. Then, to get rid of the RAM usage after the program has installed, I can either wait an hour or two and it will slowly lower to about 1.25GB's, or I can use a RAM cleaner program to do it instantly. Problem is, both of those ways, you can definitely still feel the slow factor after it's down to the usual amount being used. The only real way I get the RAM back and it's noticeable is if I restart my computer. Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against restarting a computer after a program installs, but I do have a problem waiting 2 hours for that program to install. I have tried both Windows Vista Ultimate x64, and Windows Vista Ultimate x32, two times each, and get the same... Read more

The system DLL user 32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly.
The relocation occurred because the DLL c:/windows/system32/shell32.DLL occupied an address range
reserved for windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL.

I bought Easy Hi Qrecorder program a few years ago. It worked fine. I had to re-download to a new computer as the other had crashed.

I use XP home edition. The Easy Hi Q recorder is reputable, from Roemer Software. I redownloaded it to the next computer which had been recently cleaned out of my son's user account and all his programs and files.

The Easy Hi Q downloads fine and installs. But when I click on the execute file to start it, I get "DWGTrueView 2010 wanting to install instead, which was part of an Autocad program my son had, for mapping. I can't seem to get rid of this mix up. Then of course it can't find the "source" file from that autocad program since it has been deleted for months. I also tried a clean disk and defragmented after deleting all my sons files.
I just want my Easy Hi Q recorder to work properly and open up.

I just tried an XP repair using the XP disk. Still no change. And it took all afternoon to do this.

The Norton one will be your update ActiveX,
The Flash is macromedia ActiveX control.

Both can be deleted,

However when you next update Norton it will be reinstalled, and by deleting the shockwave control will mean you will not be able to view some websites properly

Both are legitimate controls and can be safely left on your system

My PC then ran as fast as new.

I'd say so? Would help us to identify any common problems with said program. Maybe when you installed the new version, it added itself to the programs that start on boot. Could be something there.

In Internet Explorer, when I look at:
Tools->Internet Options->General Tab, Browsing History, Settings->View Objects
a window pops up titled C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files. I came across this while trying to resolve another problem....which will be in another post and has nothing to do with this post.

The status of one of the files is "Damaged" and I have no idea if it should be deleted and reinstalled or deleted and not reinstalled, or just left alone. It also states the install date was on 4/29/05 (which would be before I purchased this HP Pavilion laptop--I purchased it after September 2005). The last access date for the program states today, 12/7/07.
Here is the program file description:
Under Properties is the following info:
ActiveX Control
Status: Damaged
Code Base:

Would this damaged program be affecting the performance of my laptop? Since it's been installed since I've owned it, I wouldn't know if the performance is slower than it should be or not, or why the laptop is accessing a damaged file (and what happens when it does access this damaged file???)

Any info would be greatly appreciated....

A:why no warning when i run a program downloaded ?

Windows 8 uses the SmartScreen filter to perform an application reputation check, and it now does system wide (not just when downloading programs with Internet Explorer like it did before).

In Windows 7 when launching these downloaded applications, you get the following notification:

In Windows 8, SmartScreen will only notify you when you run an application that has not yet established a reputation and therefore is a higher risk:

The user experience for applications with an established reputation is simple and clean: you just click and run, removing the prompt you would have seen in Windows 7.

I downloaded Norton Internet Security from the Net. Tried to install it but ran into a problem so I want to do an XP Home System Restore to a date earlier than the download. Doing so will lose all the recent downloaded Internet files so I need to find the NIS download file and burn it to CD before doing the restore. The desktop icon properties show the path but Windows Explorer only shows four temporary Internet folders, I think it creates new ones for each session, and I cannot find earlier ones. I've tried "show hidden files" but without success and have run a search in Explorer as well.

Any suggestions on how I can find older downloaded Internet files?

A:Where does IE6 put the downloaded program files?

Where the download is saved depends on your browser settings and whether you selected a folder at the time.
If you can remember the name of the downloaded file (or part of it) you can do a search for that file. If you cannot remember go back to the download site and follow the links to download and at some stage the filename will be visible.

My computers are both running Win 7 64-bit. I am thoroughly confused when it comes to placing programs that I download into their proper folders: That is, program files (x86) vs program files. I have read stuff on this, but still confused. for the most part, even when a dl'd program suggests being installed into PF, I, for whatever reason, place it into PF (x86). Although I have read that placing the program into the wrong folder may cause the program not to work properly, so far I have not had this problem...nor any other problems that I am aware of. Could someone please set me straight on this issue?

A:Program Files or Program Files (x86)-Where to place downloaded program

I let the installer put it where it is supposed to.

If I trust the software I trust they know best where it should be installed/placed.

If I can't trust the software maker why am I downloading/installing their program?

I only do what the voices in my head tell me to do...Click to expand...

All of the Downloaded Program Files on my WinXP were listed as "damaged". So... I went off road and just simply deleted the file...the Downloaded Programs File, not each seperate file, as I had some type of error when I tried to do so, I believe something about the file was being used somewhere else, to close everything and try again, but would not delete no matter what I closed down.

Now, go figure, there is no longer a Downloaded Program File on the system.

My question is...does this return when there are new files that are downloaded for use? Or???? This is sounding more and more like an X-Files case...should have not cancelled the show!

Thanx for your time and help!! Hopefully I will get it some day!!

Running down a dream....Click to expand...

I have "Damaged" downloaded program files, all of them at this status. What the heck could cause this? And what are these files in the first place? I have copied them prior to this damaged thing, on floppy disks. Do not know what the heck to do with the copies, but have them.
1-What are these "downloaded program files" and what do they mean to me, my system?
2-What could have caused them all to show as "damaged" in the status of each file? How do I figure out what caused this so it does not repeat itself? (had only 1 prob that day, with install of Microsoft updates?). Really think I should find out if I did something naughty that system did not approve of, so I can apologize to it and fix it up so it is happy with me again.
3-How do I use the copies of these files, if I need to, and do the "out with the old, in with the new" do I install the new files back into the system and get the damaged ones out?
Thanx for you help, again...have a great day!!

A:Damaged Downloaded Program Files?? What's this all about??

Downloaded program files are ActiveX controls and Java programs that are downloaded automatically from the Internet when viewing certain pages. They are temporarily stored in the Downloaded Program Files folder on your hard disk.

These can include perfectly legitimate applications, like Macromedia Flash player, Quicktime player, the Google toolbar installer, and the like, but also spyware.

The best way to view them is as follows:

Go to Internet Options > Temp Internet Files > Settings > Show Objects.

If any of them are damaged, right click them, and choose Remove from the context menu.

You'll just be prompted to download them again whenever Windows or an application needs them.

I have an HP Pavilion running Vista home premium.

When I am cleaning my computer out at the end of the day, I open up internet options and "veiw objects", which brings up my DOWNLOADED PROGRAM FILES folder.

In there are 3 or 4 active x files.

But 1 in particular has a status of DAMAGED.

Vista is different in that I cannot just delete this damaged file, like I could in XP, or in earlier windows versions.

All I can do is right click it, which brings up a "properties" link.

This damaged file is an active x file, and the "code base" reads like this: dot cab (I changed this to read 'dot com' because it appears to be a direct hyperlink to my computers files...and I dont know if anyone could click on this and open my, i added the dot com)

The link takes me to a gp[1] file that looks like it originates from my adobe illustrator installation, and inside this file are several Adobe GetPlus application files, a .dll and a .ocx active x file.

Here is the explorer folder trail to this GetPlus folder that is apparently corrupted.

Temporary Internet Files>Low>Content IE.5>PO6ALQ9S>gp[1] (which appears to be a cab file, as it has that icon that looks like a two drawer blue file cabinet with the bottom drawer half open).

This thing was created 11/2006, but I cannot remember if tha... Read more

Hi..I'm looking for some advice here..I cannot remove a program that was downloaded from bearshare. I've tried restarting in safe mode, going into deleting the program, but it keeps asking me to insert the disk I originally downloaded from--and I don't have it.

A:Can't Remove Program Downloaded From Bearshare

Short Answer: Download, install, and use the trial version of Uninstall Plus! You can download it from HERE. This program can often succeed at uninstalling programs that otherwise are stubborn to remove.Long Answer: Using peer to peer websites is one of the top ways computers get infected. You have to ask yourself "Why would someone give me something of value (such as music) for free?" The answer is that bundled with the free something is a malicious something that you don't want on your computer. My guess is that you are experiencing other buggy behavior from this computer as well. If so, chances are good that you are infected. If you believe you are infected, then consider posting a High Jack This! log in the HJT forum here at Bleeping Computer. To find out more, read the Preparation Guide found HERE. It is very important that you follow ALL of the instructions found within before actually posting the log.

While searching for programs/files to remove that I no longer use I opened my downloaded Programs file and found "Adult Links". (Yes my husband visits those sites) Anyhow, when I try to remove it, a box comes up with the following: "These program files are currently being used by one or more programs. Please close some programs and try again. You may have to restart Windows" I closed all programs except "Explorer and systray" and restarted, but it just won't go away. I've been trying for a couple of weeks now. Also if someone knows how to remove it, could there possibly be a way to block it from coming back?

I'd really appreciate any and all suggestions.
Thank you

A:Cannot remove a downloaded file/program

Post the scan log from HijackThis
Unzip somewhere to keep and run hijackthis.exe - press Scan - the Scan button changes to a Save Log button
Save, and then copy and paste the entire log here.
Dont' choose to fix anything yet - most entries will be harmless

Good evening everyone---

First, I will state that I'm using WinXP Home and IE6...

I was wondering if anyone could please tell me how to get the files within the C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files folder to appear? It used to display all the active x controls and plugins that I had downloaded, but now it shows zero items? However when I right click on the folder and choose properties it says it contains 6 files. They also do not appear under add/remove programs in control panel.

I would like to get these files to appear, so that I can right click on them and choose the remove option.

If it isn't possible to get these items to appear, is there some command I can execute in order to remove/unregister these active x controls/plugins?

Much Thanks in advance!

My wife has her separate user account in Windows 10 and I have mine. She needed to download Jobulator for her work. It asked for my password since I am listed as administrator. While she was signed on her account via Windows 10, she downloaded Jobulator. Now, when I sign on to my account I see her program listed and sitting on my screen. It stays on top of other windows and in reality I don't need or require the program. If I delete if from my main Windows screen will it delete it from her use? Thanks for the help.

I have a desk top PC with Windows XP SP3 and use IE 8. When I clicked on Tools> Internet Options.>General Tab>Browsing History>Settings and then View Objects I found there were 17 entries with one dating back to 2005. Some entries are associated with programs that have long since been removed. Of the 17 files listed 10 were shown as "Installed" in the Status column while 6 were shown as"Damaged" and 1 as "Unknown".
Some of the "Damaged " files have either "none" in terms of size or "none" shown as a creation date.
Can anyone tell me whether or not it is safe to delete these entries?
I would appreciate any advice
Thank you.

I was looking around my PC - internet prop, settings, view objects and found many DL program files. Some are listed more than once installed, same day and version; some status unknown; some total size '0'. Surely some can be deleted - if not all - but?? Surprised the control panels add-remove does not show these programs to be installed??Esp Java runtime enviroment? Where do these programs originate from?? I know the Java program I am running is 1.5.0. updated to 6 but it does not show in this file. Even found some Symantec Script Runner Class and RuFSI Utilit Class files installed created 6/06 but I deleted all AV system a long time ago??

I'm following the directions for removing the locked computer ransomware which says I need to download the appropriate version of Hitmanpro for the machine it will be used to repair.  I'm downloading it onto my good 64 bit machine so I can get it onto a USB drive as indicated.  Unfortunately, when I download the 32 bit version and try to run it so I can do that, I get an error message that the program has detected my machine is 64 bit, and I must go back to their website and download the "correct" 64 bit version.  Is there any way around this?

A:Hitmanpro won't let me use 32 bit program downloaded to 64 bit machine

You went here
Download 32 bit.. SAVE it
copy that to the USB
Now insert that into the 32 machine and run it.
