Stopped while playing a game on the internet

Q: Stopped while playing a game on the internet

I have to admit my guilty pleasure. I was playing Peggle at Popcap games when it stopped and went to a blue screen. The following message popped up.

***Stop 0x000000D1 (0x03021A7E, 00000002, 0X00000001, 0xBFDA8403)
*** ADDRESSBFDA84613 base at BFD6A000, DATESTAMP 3bd87e9c l tmdmnt.sys
Beginning dump of physical memory

It locked up at that point - nothing happening so I did a soft boot, got back on the internet and went straight to you guys. I had to write all this down so I hope that I got it all right.
Please tell me that there is not something wrong with my computer. HELP

When I'm playing any game, my wireless internet goes out. Even a game that doesn't require the internet. It also goes out when I play certain flash games, not all flash games but some. Sometimes when I play a game in windowed mode, the internet stays on for some reason... What's wrong with it?..

I want to play an online game over high speed internet with my friend and dont know how to do it. I dont know if it matters but the game is Airfix Dogfighter. Remember that one? We each have a copy of the game and I know there is a way to do this but dont know how. Something to do with the IP address Im sure. In advance I am asking how to figure out the address and all the little details you might think I should allready know. To the techs who made this website I appologize for not renewing my donation but I have recently become disabled and am still waiting for my SSI to kick in. I simply dont have your much deserved donation but will remember you when I can. Thanks in advance,

hello,

hopefully u guys can help me with my issue. I have windows 7 home premium. I play Americas army 2.8.5 and my computer has been freezing up and requiring me to do a hard reboot by holding down the power button. it will do it repeatedly and Ive tried everything from updating all my drivers, bios and every driver i have on my rig and also running every kind of test imaginable to my knowledge. i can also be just browsing on the internet and all of a sudden the screen will freeze up and I get the blue little circle continuously doing its thing then i click again and the screen turns white for about 30 seconds and then it will kick back on and let me continue on. When I load up my game americas army the game will just freeze up sometimes i can play for 10 minutes and other times i can play for over an hour before it completely freezes up.

Ive talked back and forth with developers and the version of Americas army im playing is compatible with windows 7. Like i said before, ive been to numerous forums back and forth and tried everything with nothing changing for the past 2 months. Im ready to just go back to xp and really think windows 7 was a waste of money...

thanks in advance for the help

Hello, I am on a wireless internet. I had a problem with the internet, so I bought a new router/gateway adapter. No luck. I then tried moving the computer a couple feet. It worked! I could play online games fine, and my connection was 10/10.
Sadly, after an hour, the internet slowly died, and now when I try to play an online game, it crashes, and I must restart the internet.
Help? Tips?
EDIT: Right now it's 10/10 connectivity. When I try to play an online game though, it will die. Also, when I watch online videos, it will get slower. Basically when I am doing something online besides looking at websites, it will die down a bit.

A:Internet dies when playing an online game.

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

What country are you located in.
Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
What is the expected Upstream/Downstream speed for your ISP Connection?
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Make and model of your computer.
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP1-SP2, Vista, etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms? Have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way? Have you connected directly to the broadband modem to see if this is a router or modem/ISP issue?

If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

I have been having random crashes / restarts on my computer for the entire duration that I have had my windows 7 installed, before this I used windows xp which was on the same hard drive. I thought I managed to fix the issue but it happened again today and once yesterday as well.

What happens:
-Playing random game or browsing internet
-crash for no reason (Doesn't always BSOD)
-computer restarts says windows did not shut down cleanly etc..
-start up what I was doing again
-no crash

Search and Destroy along with Malwarebytes says that I am clean along with my AVG
My dump settings are properly configured to produce dump files, although when this happens I do not see one being produced

My Windows 7 computer:
- x64 bit
- not the original OS
- retail version
- What is the age of system (hardware)? - 3/4 years at most
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) 1/2 years

Let me know if you need anymore information I will be checking back in this thread every hour until I get the issue solved - Thank you ahead of time.

EDIT: I was looking through some other threads and managed to actually get some dump files and I reattached the information

Internet Explorer works fine when I first boot up. (works great)
After a day of use (ie. playing games(UT2004), or regular MS programs, IE, just cuts out. It will continue to load my home page for an infinite time period. I can't open tools or use any other functions. the logo keeps spinning. When I try to close, it just freezes and I have to <ctrl-alt-del> to end program. I have up to date virus checkers (panda 08', spy eraser, and peer guardian.) No virus. When I reboot, everything is fine. Firefox works well all the time, Anyone ????????????????????, Driving me nuts, thanks

I have similiar problem, that just started few days ago, when I installed norton 360 and logmein software.
After that day, I havent been able to play War of the Roses Beta game nor Age of Conan game, without internet stopping to work. League of Legends does not trigger this problem for some reason.

When problem occurs
I get no connection to internet, although network says it has internet connection.
I can connect to internet again after few minutes (5-15) and all is fine, until I play online games again.
My friend says he hears me a little while (through xfire) after I get disconnected from the game, I dont hear him though.

I was thinking of making new thread, but I feel the problem might be connected or something. Atleast the problem sounds much like mine.

Hi, I am new on this forum and I hope someone can help me out.

Every time I play a game at start it runs great.. then after 15-20 minutes everything gets slower and slower, I mean really slow. Movement and sounds are going slower and slower when time progresses. I have updated my sound drivers, updated my DirectX. It's like something eats up my ram or my soundcard is causing it. And when everything gets slow I quit the game and windows is then also very very slow. And sometimes my soundcard crashes, giving a loud beep sound. It's driving me NUTS.

Got an amd athlon 1,2 ghz, 512 ram, 40gigUDMA HD, MSI K7T motherboard, asus 7100pro geforce 2 32mb ram videocard, Creative SB Live! value soundcard running on windows ME (updated version installed over w98SE).

A:haveing problems playing a game with out it either randomlly crashing the game...

first of all is this limited to this game alone?do other games run fine?check for any overheating signs, install the latest drivers for your video card and your mobo, direct x and any other update.see if you meet the minimum requirements for the game.(this was just the official response you would get from a techie..so bear with me)

if this is happening in this game only and not in any other and your pc isnt overheating and meeting the minimum requirements, then there is a good chance its an issue with your optical drive, try a combo drive if you've got any around.its an incompatibility issue with some of the games.good luck

It seems something is going wrong with my GPU or one of the drivers. I feel like it's most likely hardware failure, due to extreme treatment of my laptop. What happens is the whole screen kind of just gets chopped up into squares (sometimes the patterns vary. Sometimes, it's not even a ****ing pattern, just a ****ed up screen) with different colors. It then crashes and attempts to restart but you can't even read the BSOD because the screen is so messed up. Then it will reboot itself but the screen is screwed and if you attempt to run 'windows normally', it will crash and reboot in an endless cycle. I have to start in safe mode, in which there are a bunch of nasty lines that start from left to right on the screen. I can still use the laptop but over time the screens disappear and the screen finally goes back to normal. After this, I can reboot into normal mode. Help!! I can also send pics showing what happens, I just have to play a game and have it crash for me again haha Thanks!

About 3-4 months ago, my uncle placed a GeForce 9500GT video card. It worked nice for games like Dekaron,Rappelz,Oblivion but just about a week ago it crashed on COD2. I thought it was normal but it happened on Left 4 dead too. I started to get worried and thought it was normal but then it kept on crashing on Portal(1st stage, at around 20-30 seconds on the timer) and almost any game i borrow from my friends. It crashed on Warcraft 3, Overlord, Drift City(only in Undercity Mission). Im kinda worried now maybe you guys can help me.

It crashes and sometimes the sound loops but sometimes it doesnt. Im not sure if it's only the monitor because some of my games cant be shut by using ALT F4 and i cant check if it shuts down well. When i unplug, plug and turn it on, there are no warnings or things that say it recovered from an error. It just starts normally. Some people say i have to upgrade my Video card driver but im worried because when i installed a driver on my Laptop , i couldnt turn it on. SO WHAT DO I DO?

I get BSOD whenever I am on my computer for 6 hours or over, watching a video and playing a game, or while playing gmod in general. My comp specs are on my profile as best as I could get. My computer runs 68C 26% fanspeed when not playing any games and gets as hot as 86C when playing games.
and my graphics card is up to date.

some of the BSODs were like memory management or time management or something.

Here is my SCF/scannow
Attachment 263947
and my SF Diagnostic minidump
Attachment 263945

A:BSOD playing too long, watching a video and playing a game or gmod

Hello and welcome foodwrap Mate you mentioned memory management was brought up.

Now two things you can do here is
a) reseat the sticks

b) run a memtest if the reseating doesn't have any effect

You will need to make a bootable disk for the memtest and set the BIOS to boot from the optical drive then insert the memtest disk and Save and > Enter.

Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

The machine will boot into the memtest program - no OS is loaded and it will start "testing" the RAM
Now you need to let it run for at least 8 passes unless you start to get red errors straight away.
The test takes quite while and sometimes people run it overnight.

But do the reseat first and have a look to see if any crud is down in the slots. You can take this chance to have a quick once over of the machine for dust etc

See pics for what it will look like when you run the memtest if you have to.

Hello. Recently after doing restore of windows 8 of my computer and resetting all my data, i noticed i had Microsoft Basic Display Adapter by default as my video card. So, i updated my drivers to its respective update and started playing some games. On all of them , either in the midst of gameplay or right when i started, the screen gets smaller and blacks out, and it says that the game has stopped working and windows is finding a solution blah blah blah. I already tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling, or reinstalling an older version. Also, i tried putting the games on lowest res, lowest quality, and change the direct x on the game to 9. None worked. It's really weird because i never had these problems before the windows restore. These games are league of legends, far cry 3, and borderlands 2. Oh yeah and i already tried reinstalling all of the games and got no luck

A:(.exe) HAS STOPPED WORKING - ANY GAME

Sounds like you might need to use a video driver cleaner then do a fresh re-install. Are you sure you have the latest driver for 8?

Driver Fusion is a good cleaner, there are several others.

Wait a minute, I just noticed your PSU is 280w. Seems a bit low. Is this a new computer and have you added cards or peripherals that use your PSU?

Hi- Firstly the specs: Vista HP SP2 32bit, core2duo 2.66, 2x gf8800, 4gb ram, onboard sound.

When I start the most of my games they won't run, the message is for example "grid executable has stopped working". First I thought it was all my 3D games that did not run anymore, but my MAME games also won't work anymore. Some of my 3D games like Company of Heroes and COD 4 runs fine.
I have tried installing new drivers for the motherboard/graphics/directx and audio but still the same problem. I simply can not find out what is wrong and/or what I changed that made the most games not work anymore.

If there is information missing please let me know, and I will provide what is needed.

I have downloadet Hijackthis and made a logfile, Please let me know if I should attach it here.
I really hope somebody can help, it's very frustrating...

Friendly greetings
cygge

I tried to play Lord of the rings battle for middle earth: rise of the witch king the other day and all of the sudden it didn't work. When i tried to load, the regular about half screen logo came up to do the initial load, but before it went into the game full screen it closed, a window came up and said Battle for Middle has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly and the game automatically closes. I tried to load multiple times, reinstall, restart my computer, i even got a whole new disk/CD key still didn't work. Any ideas why or how to solve it.

A:Game has stopped working when SLI is enabled.

Well, the first BSOD message is a driver issue. The second BSOD could be mutiple things. Heres a couple things you can try:

- Reseat the RAM
- If you are OCing the RAM and or CPU, set it to default
- Make sure all fans are running
- Check all temperatures to check for overheating
- When booting use "last known good config"
- Reset all bios settings, which should default to using one card. If it boots right, restart and switch ONLY the SLI mode and see how the game runs
- And yes you would either need a PSU tester or another PSU to see if its the PSU.

Cant think of too much more.

A:after playing this particular game

Just a guess but probably because when the game exits it is not resetting your display adapter settings correctly from the ingame settings.

Two things I can think of to try and fix it.
1. update your video drivers and directx
2. After exiting the game, click on an empty spot on your desktop and then hit the F5 key to refresh it, it just might reset things.

As I understand it, a VPN sets up a LAN between two computers over the internet. So, my idea is to connect the two computers, set up a LAN game in UT, and have the other computer connect to it. So, my question is, is this possible. If so, is there anything special that I have to do, other than make the connection?

When I scroll over an image on the internet (say an Xkcd.com comic), I get Alt text that flashes for a split second, making it unreadable. Big whoop, I can hold the Alt key and read everything just fine for the amount of time it is supposed to be there. Crisis averted.

BUT.

Ever since this little problem started, my Sims 2 game has been screwy... in one way. I click on an object to get my little menu, and it disappears just as quickly as my Alt text on the internet. I never had this problem until about three or four months ago, and I don't know where it could have came from.

I have:
-Reinstalled my keyboard touchpad
-Ran an aniti virus, cleared every single temporary file, ran an adware program
-Reinstalled the keyboard
-Mucked around with my Internet Options
-Tried System Restore (Doesn't let me use it no matter what date I choose)

I'm completely lost as to what to do.

I run Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 1501. My internet browser is Internet Explorer, but the problem also occurs on Firefox.

Hello,

I have artifacting problem with my EVGA GTX 970 FTW the video about the issue is at the end of the post. I get the same problem in WoW, Watch Dogs and H1Z1. So basicly I used memtest86+ no errors, formatted windows and keep having same errors. I also changed PSU and send card back for RMA, they said that they have tested it for a long period of time and no errors and send it back. The only thing which is unchanged is motherboard now. I also get NVIDIA driver stopped working errors at random times(for example I get one while writing this post) Do you have any suggestions / input for me to solve this ?

System Specs are following;
i5-4670k CPU
MSI Z87-G45 mobo, Corsair 2x4 GB RAMS
EVGA Supernova 750 G2 PSU
Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB, Windows installed on
EVGA GTX 970 FTW Graphics card

Thanks,

A:GTX 970 In Game Artifacts and Stopped Working Error

Hello from SevenForums! Also, welcome to Eight Forums!

Since your artifacting was seen on the games you're playing, I highly doubt that Unigine's Valley and Heaven Benchmarks would create artifacts also, but in the mean time try testing both of them and see if you find artifacts. If you see artifacts on both benchmarks, use MSI Afterburner to downclock to nvidia reference speeds and see if the artifacts are still there. Also, I would reccomend that you install the hotfix driver 353.38 since the driver fixes the dreaded desktop TDR errors while internet browsing or anything that uses hardware acceleration. Try that and do what I would suggest above.

Those FTW cards are highly problematic with some GTX 900 users who own this model of the card mostly because of the voltage while the clock and memory were overclocked caused some instability such as driver crashes or artifacts. Source comes from the EVGA forums: So GTX 980 FTW are very bad cards?

I never used to have this problem, sof2 used to work fine and it only started after i used my recovery disk on my pc. After the problem started i used the recovery disk again and it solved the problem but since using the same recovery disk about a month ago the problem came back, so i figured i could use my recovery disk and it would solve it but it didnt.

No DMP files included in upload please try this method

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

WHILE PLAYING MY GALAXIAN GAME,IT PAUSES FOR A SECOND OR TWO. COULD YOU HELP ME OUT? I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATTE IT. THANK YOU.

A:GAME PAUSES WHILE PLAYING

OKAY. FIRST, YOU DON'T HAVE TO YELL!

Whew! That's better! CAPS are much more difficult to read--it's a known fact. So now you know too!

Anyway, before I play AOE, I always restart my PC. Because I have very little starting up when I start up my PC, there's very little using up my resources. For instance, after a fresh restart, I can hit ctrl-alt-del and I only see Explorer and systray. How about you? A lot of people keep all kinds of things running in the background that they don't need.

Feel free to type the list of stuff that you've got in your task list and we'll try to help you out with what you don't need.

Also, are you running Windows 95, 98, ME? How much RAM do you have? When is the last time you did some disk cleanup? (See Periodic Hard Drive Maintenance in Article III)

Meanwhile, you should be able to restart, do a ctrl-alt-del and end task on everything EXCEPT Explorer and systray, and then play your game. If that helps and it doesn't pause so much, we're probably on the right track.

Let us know how you make out, and don't forget that list. If I've given you too much information or you don't understand, just say so.

Hi BlackNinjah.

A stop 0x116 is a display related BSOD.

Are you overclocking?
As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings.

Uninstall the existing version of the display driver using Display Driver Uninstaller and try 340.52 WHQL.

When done, Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.

Last time i play the game, it run well with no problems at all, but after i reformat my pc and install back, the problems occur. I had been search for the forum about this problems. from the other thread, this problems might because of some problems.

1. PC Heat problems.
I don't think i'm having this problems since i open up my pc casing and installed extra fans on it, the processer heat was around 40 - 42 C.

2. Power Supply.
I had installed a new power supply for my pc, but this still not solve the problems yet. So, the problems not because of the power supply.

3. Driver.
I had installed the lastest driver from nVidia.com for my graphic card, but the problems still occur, and i had disable the sound while playing the game.

4. Windows setting.
I know that windows xp having an option to auto restart pc while problems occur. But i'm using windows 98 right now. And i don't think windows 98 having the same setting as windows xp to auto restart while errors occur.

Hello,

for the last few months now, whenever I launch and begin a play a game on my laptop, around 15 minutes in my machine will crash and requires a hard reset in order to work again. This happens on most games, though not others. Titles like Command and Conquer 3 Red Alert and Worms Revolution work fine, however Crusader Kings 2, Mafia 2, Skyrim etc are all but unplayable. Each time the crash happens, the image on screen freezes and my speakers let out a harsh buzzing sound.

I've tried verifying the integrity of my game files, updating my drivers, defragmenting my hard drive, running virus and malware scans among other things, all to no avail. I would be very grateful if anyone would be able to help me, this situation is greatly annoying me.

Thank you

A:Crash when playing every game

Welcome potheel,

Check out the fan(s) on your graphics card and make sure they're still turning smoothly. When the computer is off, most will spin easily with a flick of a finger. Then turn on the PC and check out the fans when you play a graphics intensive game like Skyrim. If the fans are running slowly during the game, you may have a bad fan, or the fan setting might have accidentally been set to manual.

Be careful when checking the fans that you don't burn your fingers on the video card. I suspect that it's getting very hot, and that might be your problem.

Keep us posted.

In a game called Elder Scrolls Of Oblivion, I get a blue screen while playing it.
Only seems to be this 1 game doing it.
I have played other games with higher system requirements with no issue.

This blue screen can happen:
As soon as I get into the game it self (load file or start new)
Or it can happen shortly after
OR happen way later on
OR not happen at all.

Also to add: before bluescreen comes, the screen goes all black, then changes colors (full screen color, like red, blue green ext...) and u can hear the game sound for a bit as well.

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

Hi, I have this problem every time when i start a game it keeps restarting.. PLEASE HELP I ALMOST TRYED EVERYTHING.

History :

1 year ago :

When i connected my GFX in my pc it made a strange noise like sharp(if i ran a game). So i was looking for what was making that sound . It was the Gfx Fan.

Anyway, 10 months later (after playing tons of games) It restarted once in a week(while playing a game ofc).1 month later, everyday once..1 month ( now ) it restarts every time when i play a game.

So today i reinstalled windows xp.

So i did a few steps :

Step 1 : Remove dust. So i cleaned every part of my computer with compressed air (dust remover).

After that i tryed to play my game again. BOOM it restarted right away.

So i searched on forums for some tips. I saw something about overheathing.

Step 2 :
So i bought 2 fans and placed 1 in the direction of my GFX . and the other one to my cpu.

The moment of truth ... BOOM it restarted....

I was really sad..

Step 3 : So i brought it to Store.

THEY SAID IT WORKS FINE?!?!?!
so i went to their store and played 30 mins on my own pc. And everything was fine!

I was really really happy. so i went home and connected everything and BOOM restarted...again...

Step 4 :
I went to my control panel ---> system and removed the X from Restarting. It could gave me a blue screen after it restarts. But it gave me nothing.

Step 5 : Checking for virus , Checking my event log
I found loads of thing ... Read more

A:PC keeps restarting when playing game?

Hi bramie,

No need to apologize for your English - it is better than some of the native speakers! lol

I think that you need to work through a process of elimination with this. What was different when the PC was at the store?

ie. When your PC is at home, what items do you have plugged in that you did not take to the store?

This would be my first thought. Also, if the PC is restarting, Windows is probably creating a mini-dump file for debugging (C:\Windows\minidump\) . This may help to find the problem, so if you have any, please post them.

Hello, sorry if this has been asked many times before but after months of searching the internet I have yet to find a solution to my problem.

I used to be able to play all my games perfect until about a year ago!

The Problem
I can play games for about 5-15 minutes (perfectly) before hitting a wall of lag, slowing my computer to a crawl.

In Game
It doesn't matter what video settings I have or if the game is low demand like Battlefield Heroes or high demand like Dragon Age. After the set time my game hits lag, its like it comes out of no where.
The only games that seem immune to this are Mass Effect 1 and 2, don't know why!

Out of Game
Once I finally get out of the game my computer will be very sluggish for about 10 to 20 minutes later, with CPU being maxed. When it returns to normal it does so in an instant. Like all process' just stop at the same time and the cpu returns below 5%.

Hello everyone,

I have a BSOD issue and I don?t know how to fix it. As I've seen so far the BSOD error codes are not always the same and this BSOD's happens while playing any game like CS:GO or Dota2 and sometimes just while watching a video on youtube or closing teamspeak.

I've used the program recommended at "BSOD - Posting Instructions" and uploaded the zip file created.

Hope someone can help me

I have had nothing but trouble since installing Windows 7 x64 on this machine. Everything ran fine under Windows XP but since 7 I get regular BSOD while playing any 3D game. I have tried uninstalling all my 3rd party drivers and then reinstalling just the video driver but I still get the crashes. I don't think it is hardware related but something in my machine might be dieing, which only becomes apparent when im stressing the pc, i.e playing Dragon Age or Borderlands. Any suggestions would be brilliant as I'm stuck getting ~10 BSOD per day and I only get to play games for 30mins at a time before the autoreboot.

My specs are:
Sapphire Vapor-x 1GB 4870 with Catalyst 10.4 freshly installed.
2GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 PC-6400
GA-M57SLI-S4 Rev 2 with latest bios flashed.
Athlon X2 6400+ 400FSB Version.

I have attached one days worth of dumps, yesterdays. Some of them are from driver verifier, which still BSOD even with all the 3rd party drivers uninstalled.

Please help me

A:BSOD When playing any 3D Game

Very straightforward. Your anti-virus AVG is causing the crashes. Uninstall it completely, and install Microsoft Security Essentials instead.

While playing an MMO called Elsword, a few minutes into gameplay I received the pfn_list_corrupt BSOD. Rather than risk messing around with things I'm not 100% about, I thought I'd post here for a solution. Please correct me if the opening post is wrong or if I missed some information. Thank you in advance.

A:BSOD while playing a game.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

Hi,

I am facing problem with BSOD.

Its just if i play a game in 3-4 minutes game freezes and crashes my system to safe start. Same does not happen on 1080p movies on VLC Player.

I already had updated nvidia drivers. Then felt may be new drivers are unstable so also went to safe mode installed some really old stable driver. However problem remained the same. So presently its running on old driver but that is not issues as i already till yesterday was running in latest Stable driver from nvidia.

I also did memtest. i am sorry i ran out of patience but post 2 hrs also it showed new error. also there are no artifacts as such on the screen.

Hi,

All of the attached DMP files are of the VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116) bugcheck.

The basic definition of a 0x116 bugcheck is:
There may be a bug in the video driver or video hardware. So, let me now explain what VIDEO_TDR_ERROR means. First off, TDR is an acronym for Timeout Detection and Recovery. Timeout Detection and Recovery was introduced in Vista and carried over to Windows 7. Rather than putting exactly what Timeout Detection and Recovery does exactly, I'll just directly quote the MSDN article!
Timeout detection: The GPU scheduler, which is part of the DirectX graphics kernel subsystem (Dxgkrnl.sys), detects that the GPU is taking more than the permitted amount of time to execute a particular task. The GPU scheduler then tries to preempt this particular task. The preempt operation has a "wait" timeout, which is the actual TDR timeout. This step is thus the timeout detection phase of the process. The default timeout period in Windows Vista and later operating systems is 2 seconds. If the GPU cannot complete or preempt the current task within the TDR timeout period, the operating system diagnoses that the GPU is frozen.
To prevent timeout detection from occurring, hardware vendors should ensure that graphics operations (that is, DMA buffer completion) take no more than 2 seconds in end-user scenarios such as productivity and game play. Preparation for recovery: The operating system's GPU scheduler calls the display miniport driver's DxgkDdiR... Read more

I'm not sure what the error code is, but over the past month I've experienced an increased number of BSOD's. I'm not making too much sense out of the dump file, so I'm posting here for suggestions and help.

I know this isn't game specific because I've had at least one crash for these games: Tekkit, Shift 2, and Driver: SF.

Let me know if I need to provide anything else.

A:BSOD playing any game

You said it's only been past month? From the crashdumps it looks like you've been suffering since May, with one crash that month, one in June, four in July, and four in August. Have those previous crashes been resolved?

The crashdumps report a lot of various memory corruptions, from solitary bit changes in code to messed up CPU registers that may have been grabbed from bad memory references. I cannot ascertain exact cause without a kernel dump (MEMORY.DMP in Windows directory).

You should be able to get a better answer if you let Driver Verifier crash your system a couple times and send us the minidumps from there. If I find that nothing has changed in the crashdumps that DV churns out, then you are looking at hardware problems, which is pretty much what I suspect right now. However, if it is caused by hardware failure, crashdumps will not be all that valuable in ascertaining exactly what hardware it is that's doing it.

If you wish, you may run a couple of hardware tests. First start off with Memtest and run that overnight. If you see any red on the screen, that's good evidence you have bad RAM. If you wish, you may also run Prime95. Have it go on Torture Test with Blend overnight. If you see the system has crashed or it has reported errors, then run it another night only this time with Large FFTs instead of Blend. If those also report issues or your system crashes during it, then you have either a bad CPU, motherboard, or PSU, with the CPU being prime suspect.

I have a Windows Vista Home Premium x64 bit and every time I play this game called "AssaultCube", I can play it for 5 minutes but than in 5 minutes while playing my computer crashes every single time. The weird thing is that my computer works perfectly if I like browse the internet or leave my computer on, and it never crashes into a BSOD. But when I want to play that game it crashes every time. Before someone experienced looks at your case, make sure your drivers are up-to-date.

Also it looks like you haven't updated Windows after you re-installed OS at 3/28/2015. Control Panel - Windows Update - Check manually and install whatever is found, also check the optional/recommended updates

hi, recently i've been encountering alot of BSODs and screen freezes after playing a game called Soul of the Ultimate Nation. long time ago, like in january 2010, i had a few problems with the BSOD while plaing the game, but eventually it disapeared after like 3 days. now it came back and seem to not budge this time. i tried system restore like a week ago, and next morning it worked and stopped, but after a week which is now, the BSOD and along with the screen being frozen came back. i don't think its my computer specifications that is causing it or a virus because i performed virus scans (using Avira antivirus). please help me if you what the problem is. i will post my computer specs and the minidumps that i have gotten.

Hello,

This crash was caused by your video driver. Use the below to re-install an updated driver

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

Hello folks. I am new to the website and look forward to discussing topics with all of you in the "appropriate" sections.

I have a problem that I need help with though first. I have went all over looking for help and I get very little or none at all. I play this MMO game called "Thang Global." The game was brought back in beta mode this past saturday after being gone for the last 2 years. It shut down in 2009. They are bringing the game back the official servers for the game will be up March 17th. Here is the link to the "stationary" website for now. http://thangglobal.webs.com/

Before the official servers go live on March 17th, 2011 the official website will be out in March.

I use to play this game all the time on my old desktop with windows 2000. Well anyways, the game is in beta mode right now and I can launch the game just fine but, when I get in the game it lags very bad. I updated my video drivers for ATI and the lag is still terrible! One of the Gm's recommended that I update my chipset. I have no clue what a chipset is or how to update it. I went on the Toshiba website and asked for help kindly and no one has responded to me.

I own a Toshiba A105-S101 laptop. It is a older laptop I bought it in 2006. It came with a Intel(R)Celeron(R) M Proccesor
1.60GHz
1.59GHz, 1.43GB of RAM
I looked on device manager and this proccesor hasn't been updated since 2004. Is there a way to update it? I looked on the Intel website and couldn&... Read more

A:Help please! I need help playing a Online MMO game

Hi,

I suspect the problrm is (and the GM has eluded to the same, thats basically what they mean by 'update your chipset') that your graphics card just isn't good enough for the game. Unfortunately with a laptop and especially one that old, there is nothing you can do to upgrade it, newer drivers won't make any real difference.

The realistic options available to you are

a) Live with it on that machine, there is nothing you can do about it.
b) Buy a new laptop with a newer graphics card and processor etc.
3) Play on a desktop with a better graphics card.

I can't actually look at the specs to compare while I am at work, my 'internet police' block so much! However, based on what you have said I don't think I would find any better solutions.

BTW - we have had issues with the Asus P5 series of boards in the past:
- DO NOT use the AUTO setting for RAM in the BIOS. Get the memory settings from the memory manufacturer's website and enter them individually into the BIOS
- Recently there was an issue with one poster that was solved by updating the BIOS. This is a dangerous procedure - as a small mistake can damage the motherboard.

Hiya

As There is a thread going for the Best PC game, I thought I'd throw one in for the game/games that you're playing on your pc. Maybe not all thetime, but ones that you go back to now and then, etc

Okay, I'll start
My main game is Battlefield 2 and all the expansions. However, due to the points problems (those that play it know what I mean), I'm not that active for the past week. However, I do play in many funwars and matches in the ladder and cup we're in. Plan to join another league in the next few weeks, so will do well again.
Other games:

Call of Duty 2
Myst - The first one
Full Spectrum Warrior
Armed Assualt
Stalker
eddie

I play Criminal Case on Facebook and am bothered by two things that only show up there:
1. CDN.doubleverify.com
2. duspys4lcv8ju.cloudfront.net

Cloudfront gives me a pop-up asking if it can store info on my computer. I have to click "Deny".
Doubleverify actually gives me an error message right in the middle of playing the game. I have to click "Stop Script" and then hit Full-Screen mode again and continue playing.
If I look either one of these up, they are considered viruses and any number of solutions and programs are recommended, but none can find them on my computer. I used Security Essentials, Malwarebytes, ADWCleaner, Spybot and cleared my Firefox cache as well as resetting Firefox. I'm not sure what these are doing to my computer, but are annoying. Why aren't any of these anti-virus programs finding anything?

Sounds like a flash cookie. That would be normal.

Look here:

Control Panel> Flash Player (32bit) > Storage > Local Storage Settings By Site

Also visit here: https://www.macromedia.com/support/d...manager03.html

Check settings and read the information below the panel.

That file is part of the graphics card driver so the problem is with the display driver. First thing I would suggest is to update the drivers to the latest available version if you haven't already.

First off, I also posted this on the Hardware forum as I'm not really sure which category it fits more. It is probably a hardware issue but the bsod's could be read from someone who is familiar with diagnosing them.

I recently built my system, and it's been pretty rough ever since. Often, when I start up a game, it decides to crash my whole system resulting in a blue screen. Do note, however, that it has also crashed when not in a game, but only once or twice.

My first thought was the ram, as it was and is giving a lot of memory errors, so I ran memtest for over 10 hours with no failures. My next thought was the CPU, so I ran prime 95 on blend and small ftt tests for over 8 hours which also proved to be stable. Next was the HDD, and I did everything from examining the SMART info to a long generic test. GPU was my last hope, but Furmark doesn't phase the card, and I even ran MemtestG80 which supposedly tests the GPUs memory as well. I do realize these tests are not the end all, and there could be a problem with any one of them that the tests didn't find. I have also reinstalled Windows

Something curious happened when I ran memtest the other day. I had one stick in and left the room for a few minutes, only to come back to 7k+ errors. This was it I thought, I finally found out what was causing it. I wanted to test it again to make sure it wasn't a bug in the software, but it ran for 8 hours with no errors. So I'm lead to believe it's th... Read more
