Q: Solved: Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Problem

Hello people. Thank you for reading this! I have a problem. I use MS Office 2003. I just bought a new computer since my old one was just dying. That's a different story. I took the PST file from my old one, and put to work on my new machine. Now, when I click on CONTACTS, below MAIL, I see all of my contacts. But when I compose a new massage, and click on "TO:” there is nothing there!! So in order for me to write a letter to a contact, I need to open up my "Contacts" and RIGHT CLICK on one and choose "Compose a New Message", which is totally unacceptable because some e-mails I write, I want to have multiple receivers of. Everything else is fine. All of the folders and subfolders I have, are there. Just this. Please help??

I've developed this problem with Outlook where after composing an email and try to send I get an error message.

The header of the message box says Microsoft Office Word
and the warning message in the box says Interface Not Registered.

The receiving part of the program works okay and the rest of Office 2003 is working fine

I reinstalled the program but that didn't help !

Does anyone have any ideas or possible solutions?

Hi MadMel

Run the Detect and Repair option In Outlook 2003,
Help > Detect and Repair

If that fails to correct the problem:
With Outlook 2003 closed,
Start > Run
key in or copy and paste in the Run box:
Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll
Click Enter

Let us know if that makes a difference.

I'm having a strange problem with Microsoft Word 2003 SP3.

It only happens on new docs. I'm a writer and when I open ongoing projects in Word everything is fine, but when I open a new doc. my Page Setup doesn't work. If I set it to have 1" of space top, bottom and sides, it doesn't work on the top. My first line starts at the very top of the page.

Also, the ruler up the left side should be dark where that top inch of space should be, but it isn't because it's not working. I discovered a temporary fix in Page Setup by setting the top space to be 2" and the sides and bottom to be 1". However, even doing this I don't get the dark inch or so at the top of my left margin ruler.

I did a repair in ADD Remove Programs but it didn't change anything. It might be a corruption in Word because I have the same Office 2003, SP3 on my laptop and I've compared all the settings on both computers and they appear to be identical.

Has anyone here run into this problem, and do you think uninstalling and reinstalling Office might solve the problem?

Thanks in advance.

If I understand you right you are just looking for the icon... if that is the case you can get the icon by going to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11 and then sending the Outlook icon to your desktop. Hope this is what you are looking for.

Just installed Office 2003 Professional on my laptop last night. I opened up Outlook and began to set up an email account for my "work" email via Microsoft Exchange Server. Well I suppose I did not input the information correctly, because now I get errors stating that my folders are not available, etc. That's all fine. The problem is that Outlook closes as soon as I "OK" or "cancel" these error messages. I can't even get into the program to delete this account. I have uninstalled Outlook and re-installed with no success. HELP!!!!!

Recently I must have done something inadvertently in my outlook as I can no longer open links in any email messages. When I try, the following message appears: "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on your computer. Please contact your system administrator." By the way, it is a home computer and I am the system administrator. I called Bell Support as I thought maybe it had something to do with the new McFee Virus Protection that Bell switched to but the issue appears to be related to something I may have done in outlook myself. The tech could not locate the problem. Any ideas? In order to open link I have to cut and paste it into google or such but with some links, this does not work. Any help on this issue would be most appreciated. I am not particularly tech savvy so please keep this in mind when you respond. Thank you.

Hi All

OK when I compose an email, font is in 12 Arial Narrow, but the email when it reaches the recipient and also my sent folder the font is quite tiny, why does this change?

I have been to Tools > Options > Stationery and Fonts - I clicked on all three > Choose Font Options and they are all under Arial Narrow 12, this text is more than big enough when I am composing the email but for some reason it changes, does anyone know where I must go to stop the fonts changing when its sent? (yes I did click apply when i reset the font size)

Do I have to increase the font size to something like 26 for it to be normal size in recipients email in boxes?

It's really stumped me, I know my email did not always do this.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Forgot to mention - Microsoft Office 2003 has all its updates and I am using XP Pro which is all up to date also.

Notified that 3 automatic updates were available to be installed. Two of the three were installed just fine but (KB943552) which is a Junk EMail Filter update will not install. Checked via Google and this is a common problem but with an incredibly complex fix of the registry. I do have Outlook as part of the Office Suite but do not use it. I can live without the update but I am constantly reminded that updates are ready, etc. Any way to at least make the icon not appear other than to opt for no automatic updates? When I receive an e-mail from someone, and I choose to reply to it, it automatically appears in the format of "User <[email protected]>" in the "To:" field of the reply window.

Is there a way that I can automatically have it format it just to say "User" in the "To:" field, without having to add that user to my contacts? All I want is the recipients name in that field, as I'd prefer it to not display their e-mail address there as well.

I am upgrading lots of stuff here in the office, but I need to keep the inter-office email communications working between the old and the new.

We have a working system with Microsoft Mail Post Office that is located on a NT file server and can be administered from a win98 pc. We currently use this for inter-office email, and connect to the internet for all other email.

I am tring to configure Outlook 2003 to recognize the accounts in the post office using the Exchange Server. I am not able to get outlook to communicate.

The post office does not have a name, just a path to it. I put the path as the name of the Exchange Server and provided a valid User Name. When I "check name", I get an error. "The action could not be completed. The connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action." I get a similar message whe I run Outlook.

How can I get this configured right? BTW, I can see the network path to the PO Box and have a drive mapped.

New PC and OS is WinXP Pro

Hello there.

Microsoft office 2003 problem.
When starting microsoft word on vista ulitmate, there seems to be a problem

This will automatically shut down, saying there was a problem and is shutting down...
The other programs seem fine, Excel, powerpoint, etc.

I havent a clue what this could be, has anyone else had this problem.
In the top right corner of microsoft word it will say "Finalizing Installation" and then after you type a couple of sentences it will shut down on its own..

This is for a friend of mine, who had microsoft office put on when she bought the laptop of a friend, though she does not have the disk, so i wondered if this is an installation problem.

Would this be some sort of copy of microsoft office 2003, that was put on for her
She has only found this out now as her son needs to use word for school

I assume that you're opening up Word from the Start menu here...

Open up the Start Menu and go to Word. Right-click on it. Open up its Compatability tab which is the third tab.

2003 is an XP product. Therefore, Word (and Excel and Access if they're 2003 versions) should be run in compatibility mode for "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)."

If this is not so, check the box and select Windows XP from the list to make it so amd OK the box to close it.

See if it runs now.

Microsoft Updates roll back my personal settings. Following a crash, I reinstalled the OS and several applications including Microsoft Office Professional 2003. I spent a long time amending the personal settings; and changing the desktop background wallpaper, folders options, start-up preferences on utilities such as Uniblue ?PowerSuite?, and so on. Everything was working excellently! Then I went to Microsoft Update. There were 21 critical updates which I duly downloaded and installed. When I restarted my computer I was utterly horrified to find that all my changes had been annulled. The computer worked all right, but I was ?back to square one?. Mistakenly thinking that some inadvertent act on my part had done the damage, I wiped my hard disk and repeated the whole reinstallation process, including amending personal settings. Once again, all was fine ?. until I downloaded and installed the Microsoft updates!!!

I feel sure that one or more of the Microsoft updates are causing the trouble. Having reinstalled everything (for the third time!), I shall next do a ?custom? Microsoft update.

Can anyone advise me which of these Microsoft updates I should avoid (i.e., uncheck in the list)?

The computer is a Packard Bell EasyNote GN45 with 1GB of RAM and a new 160GB Western Digital hard drive. The OS is Windows XP Professional (SP3).

I can't exactly tell you why this seems to work but in my experience I have always downloaded or installed the Windows updates prior to installing anything else such as other programs. Based on your explanation as to the computers bad behavior and the fact that you attempted the same process twice with the identical results I would suggest that you do the clean format and clean install then installing the updates prior to any other program installation.

But all it is. Is that you have size 10 and then size 22 after it

I can't explain it clearly it's 10 10 10 10 10 22 22 22
And when you backspace the 22 size it stays 22 until you make it size10 again
As for that little dot, it must be the font at that size, or something

A:Microsoft Office Word 2003 problem

I have seen several suggestions for dealing with this problem, some work for some people, others don't and
some of them are potentially destructive, in my opinion, therefore I do not propose to supply any links.

However, I will tell you that I had the same problem recently. I run Office 2003 Professional Edition and
downloaded the Office 2007 trial. It was not for me and I uninstalled it. My problems then started,
with these 'Please wait while Windows configures' messages.

I tried all the usual 'repair' methods, but the only thing which fixed the problem was a complete
uninstall and reinstall of Office 2003. That would be my only suggestion and in addition,
I left the setup files on my hard disk, when asked, because there are some features that are not
immediately installed by the program, even on a full install and it saves digging out the CD/DVD
whenever you come across these features. (Don't remember too clearly which ones, I think it
may have been in connection with Publisher).

I appreciate this may be stating the obvious. If you can find an easier method, which you trust,
good luck.

btw, I am assuming that your computer is virus, adware, malware and spyware free.
You should run something like Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpware if you haven't
checked recently; presumably you have a realtime antivirus scanner.

well when you get to 1000 i think Word is adjusting Left, & Hanging/First Line Indentation ...... e.g. when you start from number 1 .... Word usually sets to Left = 0.25, Hanging/First Line 0.25.

You can adjust it according to your needs by changing those values. Goodluck

I'm using an Asus Laptop K52F running Window 7 with 4 GB RAM. Suddenly the Microsoft Office 2003 has developed a problem whereas I can not save, and/or open/close various files. When I open Word to a blank page I get the message "Windows cannot open the existing (normal). When I try to close it I get different messages that I don't understand concerning saving to "normal" "yes/no", etc. then finally closes to my desktop. I uninstalled the program and then reinstalled to only get the same thing happening. Is this repairable and are there any options to fix/resolve? Thanks

For many days i had this problem.Whenever i paste any words in Microsoft Office Word 2003......a Popup comes saying :Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003and then it pastes. It is annoying. Each time when i paste,it comes. msiexec.exe runs in the process.I disabled it in services. Then no problem in pasting.I installed a software later, then it asked for windows installer as it is needed. Then once again i enabled it.So i wanted to stop that popup from coming without disabling msiexec.exe. But that is not possible. Also in control panel, The options - change or remove is not there for Microsoft Office Word 2003. It is like that for many days.I dont know how they disappeared.I dont know what problem it is.In Microsoft Office Word 2003 under Help option, when i click Detect and Repair....It says Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 setup failedToday i uninstalled Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 and reinstalled. Now the problem is too worse. Now whenever i open Microsoft Office Word 2003 or Yahoo messenger or MSN messenger, that same old popup comes :Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003Eventhough i cancel that popup, OSE.exe and msiexec.exe runs in the process. So each time i have to end the process OSE.exe and msiexec.exe when i use Microsoft Office Word 2003 or Yahoo messenger or MSN messenger. Its very annoying. Can anyone help ?

This assumes that your system is not infected.Caution is advised - at your own risk.As it involves a registry edit, backup up your registry first with a program such as ERUNT: you may also want to create a system restore point.See this link:Some applications in Add/Remove Programs list are missing Change and Remove buttons: two mentioned items, NoRemove and NoModify, have to be set to 0, not 1.This should fix the Change and Remove buttons in Add /Remove.I have only ever fixed the "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003"message, by uninstalling and reinstalling the whole package from a genuine Office disk.pro11.msi [Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003] is the .msi installer file required.I also ensured that I went to Windows Update afterwards and got them all.Defrag your disk before reinstalling.Use the latest version of the Windows Installer:;displaylang=enWindows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) is worth getting, if not already installed.NOTE:OSE.exe is a process belonging to the Microsoft Office Suite which adds additional installation support during CD install and web updates. Not being a techie, I've pulled my hair out to the point of being bald because of a problem I have with MS Office Outlook 2003. Quite simply, I can receive a video attachment (say, 6 mb) without a hitch but if I want to forward it on to someone else, it won't send. I've (a) tried switching off the email protection in McAfee but it makes no difference and (b) uninstalling and reinstalling 'Office', equally with no effect.
Other than buy a toupee, can anybody please tell me - in very simple English - what I should do for a remedy?

Hello, I have Windows XP purchased in 2005, and came with Microsoft Office.

I was using Microsoft word early this morning and something happened and now it won't open.

Of all my desktop icons, everything has color except the Microsoft is WHITE, which I suspected right away had been compromised.

I don't have any Microsoft word software, it came with my computer.

Help, can I get it back? I need to write some letters.

Thank you.

Just recently something has changed with my Microsoft Office Word 2003 app.

I'm a writer and I have always been able to drag my pages that I have written today to a folder in My Documents and the same file would stay on my desktop for immediate access later. I realize other may not work this way but it is how I prefer to work as it has become my habit

When I try to drag and drop it now, it drops into the My Documents folder but it no longer remains on the desktop.

Now, in conjunction with this problem, I have another new problem, which is that when I write a page of text in Word and save it to a My Documents folder it doesn't go there. Also when I save a picture to My Pictures as I've always done it won't be there when I look for it. Something is preventing me from saving things and I haven't a clue what it is. I have to open the My Documents folder and drag the Word text page into it. It's the only way I can save stuff for some reason.

Can someone please tell me how I can fix this problem?

Thank you in advance.

Jeez... where do I start..?

I've recently installed XP Pro and office on a new system and had everything set up fine, or so I thought...

Wanting to store my email data file on a USB drive, I had the path setup to a disk labelled J:

At some stage, I used Norton Partition Magic to create a new partition on my local disk. This, unwittingly, caused my USB (powered) drive to be relabled L:

Now, when I try to open Outlook, it says the usual "Can't open Personal Folders, <original J: path> not found". But, when I click OK, instead of trying to direct you to specify a new path, it CLOSES DOWN! So I have no access to any element of Outlook - incredibly annoying.

I have uninstalled Office; cleaned my registry with Registry Repair Pro; Windows Clean Up (rebooting on each step so as to refresh changes); even done a repair install with XP Pro. This has not solved the problem: whenever I re-install Office and try to open Outlook, it gives me the same error message and closes down. So it has a record of something, somewhere... but I just can't find it to reset/delete it and specify a new path to a new, stand-alone and separately powered drive.

Any suggestions? Besides a new install of the OS...

I'm having problems with all programs in Microsoft Office 2003. Here's the situation...

6 months ago I took a computer class which taught the use of Microsoft Office 2007 programs. As a part of the class, we got a trial version of Microsoft Office 2007, which is supposed to last for 180 days.

A few weeks ago the trial period ended and I could no longer use Office '07. I uninstalled the trial software and wanted to go back to using Office '03.

However, now whenever I try to start any program from Office '03, I get a message box telling me it's beginning some kind of installer. After a minute of this box, I get an error message saying:

"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."

I downloaded and used the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility, but it didn't help. I can't run any of the Office programs, repair them using the installation CD, or even uninstall any of them. I'm running Windows XP Professional.

What are my options? Are there anyways to fix this problem?

I have attempted to print out mailing labels from my Contacts Folder in Outlook 2003 without success.

I list here the steps taken so far :-

1.Contact page selected in Outlook containing all the addresses I want to print. I then click Tools> Mail Merge.
2. In the MM Page I have selected;- All Contacts,All Contact Fields & Mailing Labels
3. Selecting "OK" launches MS Word with instructions to click "SETUP" in Section 1 of the MM Helper Page which now appears.
4.When this is clicked , the "LABEL OPTIONS" Page appears
5 Here I select "AVERY A4 & A5 sizes" with Product Number of L7160.
6.cLICKING "ok" brings me to the Blank Label Page with MM Helper Page still superimposed on it.
7 There are 3 choices on this page with the 3rd choice "MERGE" greyed out.

I only use the Mail Merge facility rarely , the last time was almost a year ago , but I seem to remember that the 3rd choice here . i.e. "MERGE" was not "greyed out" the last time I used this facility.

Any advice as to how to resolve this would be appreciated.

I posted a message yesterday and that issue was more or less solved, but today I've discovered a new issue. I had office 2007 and while I liked some of the new features, I found it in general to be way to slow, so I downgraded to 2003. I've had a number of issues (I think many of which had to do with dll file versions. I've worked through most of the issues and nearly everything seems to be functioning as it should... EXCEPT.... When I try to hit "reply to all" in Outlook, I get the following error:

The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart outlook.

Needless to say, restarting outlook does not help. It was suggested that I type Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll
in the command line. That didn't help either.

Any thoughts anyone has would be greatly appreciated!

This is not the only solution to this issue. I had the same exact issue. I was using office 2007 and downgraded to 2003 and my reply to all button was not working at all. With some trial and error and some searching on the internet I found this solution and it worked very well without having to completely rebuild and reimage the computer, which was not an acceptable solution for the time that it would have taken to do that.

The solution that worked for me was this:

First make sure outlook is closed. Because you are using an exchange server it should be no problem to delete your .ost file. Go ahead and delete that as well. Then go into your control panel and click on the Mail icon. When the profile box comes up go ahead and remove your email profile. I didn't have to reboot but you may want to go ahead and do that. When the computer gets back into windows then reopen outlook and it will ask you to rebuild your profile. Go through the profile rebuild and select the cached mode in your outlook to rebuild your .ost.

That fixed the issue for me and now my outlook is working as it should. I would say try this before reimaging your entire machine, but definitely try this first.

My friend just had her computer reformatted after a bad virus contamination. It is still running EXTREMELY slow but has at least been running correctly. She is running XP

Yesterday I installed Microsoft Office 2003 for her with Microsoft Outlook and now her email doesn't seem to be working. She uses Outlook Express as her mail default rather than Office Outlook but keeps getting the error message that it can't find the POP3.

I also installed AVG for her and have shut off the email plugin to see if that is part of the problem.

The thing is, it happened yesterday right after I installed these programs for her but then a minute later her email worked just fine. Now she just restarted her computer and the mail won't work again.

Is there something wrong with her computer or is it at the server?

I hope this all makes sense.

Hey everybody

I've been trying to figure this out for a while, but just can't seem to get it to work right.

I have the Microsoft Office Access 2003 Developer Extensions, which has a packaging wizard, that is used to package up a Access database and include a runtime environment, so users without access on their computer can use a database.

I have access on the computer in my office, so I take the file I want to package, and run the wizard, creating a setup file for the database and runtime. Now, I go over to the server, run the setup program, and have it installed on the server.

I can run the database on the server fine. I open it up, it runs in runtime mode, just as the package wizard said it should, and I can do whatever I want. The problem I am having is, I try to create a share, so that I can share this program with users on the network.

When I do this, it just doesn't work right. It is saying that it can't find the file "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\ifg_agent_database\ifg_agents_modified_10_13_05.mdb"

Any ideas on what is going on?

Good afternoon people,

Firstly, I would like to say hello to everyone who've helped me in the past with my Access help. It's been a long absence with study commitments and such, but as is the purpose of this group, I would like to ask for some tech help:

The situation: Microsoft Word (as part of Office 2003 Professional Edition) frequently closes without user notification on my dad's laptop (Windows Vista Basic). It's recently started, and it interrupts his work. He says that the issue occurs when he minimises documents, but he didn't indicate a frequency of this occurrence. He also told me that once he successfully saves a document and closes Word, he then encounters issues when opening said document; it says that the file has been "corrupted" (I can't remember exactly what the dialog box says), and that the data can be recovered, or to proceed with opening the document. Data recovery doesn't work, and when he proceeds to open the document, Word returns "Program not responding" and "Critical error caused by the program" and other prompts of this nature, which then forces the program to quit.

I am aware that a similar problem is in the Microsoft Knowledge Base for Word 2003, but was last revised in 2004 (so covered only xp and 2000), and am not certain if this issue is the same for Windows Vista. It related to the "Handwriting Recognition" program.

About a month ago when I was making a new image, I migrated from Outlook Express to Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 (always used the rest of Office but never the email till I made this image) as this is what most work places use where I have worked,

However when I open Microsoft Office Outlook I have it set to send/receive as soon as connected (is what the settings says) most of the time when I open this program it down loads strait away emails from my service provider that has arrived, but every so often it does nothing.

When I open the program I donít even get the "send/receive complete" message which tells me that there are no emails or it has finished down loading them, and I have to click on the send/receive and then emails down load.

Would anyone know why it does not always do the down load thing every time?

I know not a biggy as far as problems go, but i never encountered this in Outlook Express. Apart from that, it's working perfectly, it's just i am not up on the knowledge as much on Microsoft Outlook as i am with Outlook Express, even though i used it in the work situation and provided desktop support for it,

The memory upgrade didn't have anything to do with it. It's a view setting. I don't have Office 2003 installed anymore, so I can't give you specific steps. You'll have to look over the different view settings for the various folders in Outlook to compare them and make the necessary changes.

I've seen this issue on other postings but have not seen the answer yet.

I have Vista, Outlook 2007 and Office 2003.

1. I have been trying to send an email merge (works fine on my other XP machine with office 2003) in HTML. I can send a merge in text, but the HTML option yields nothing. I purchased outlook 2007 because Msft Mail was not working either. I am about to throw out outlook 2007 and try to downgrade to outlook 2003 to see if this option works as it does on my XP machine. Any ideas before I totaly frustrate my wife by reloading her software again?

2. When the "text' email merge is initiatied, I get a message for each mail that asks me to accept that another program is trying to send an email. This seems to happen for each email which could really be a problem for several hundred emails. I have tried turning off the firewall but the box still appears. This whole Vista thing is making me crazy. I have to reconfigure my outlook 2003 and transfer the list of names and the word doc to my xp laptop just so I can send the mail merge. What is the setting to turn this off?

I am wondering why I paid for Vista, and the Oulook 2007 sw. Sorry, just frustrated. This should not be so difficult.

4. I close the document and try reopening it:

I get this error:

"The file selected is not a valid Microsoft Document Imaging file"

I recreated my Windows XP profile and this resolved the problem

That was two weeks the problem is back!

Any ideas?

I am a novice at the computer gig and outlook stopped working a couple of days ago. I read some of the fixes on the site, but don't know how to do most of them without a step by step (don't leave anything out) guide on what to try. The error message is "cannot start microsoft office outlook. Cannot open the outlook file." Can anyone give me a step by step on how to fix this. I got the new Dell with all the programs on it and it was working fine until about 3 days ago and i started to get this error message. Thanks for any help.

Have you tried doing what it said to do?

Scanpst.exe is probably located in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\SCANPST.EXE" and it told you where the PST was located that it wanted you to scan.

Hi everybody! Maybe somebody on here could help me out? I have a HUGE problem! I currently use Outlook Express on Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, I had bought Microsoft Office 2003 Professional! I obviously want to use Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 as my e-mail client! The problem that I'm encountering, is my entire address book in Outlook Express, is written in Russian language! Even my American friend's names are written in Russian! (Spelled with Russian letters) When I do the export and import, the entire address book is not readable! It's a bunch of signs and symbols, basically not readable! How do I import/export the address book, so I can see who am I composing to?

When you send an e-mail or receive one from outlook, by default it looks for the person in your contacts and puts the display name up instead.

But when reading the e-mail it displays

John Doe [mailto:[email protected]]
To: Jane Doe

How do you get rid of the mailto:etc, etc ??? I would prefer a hyperlink instead of the mailto because then it reveals the person's e-mail address.

I know you could just hover over it or click on the hyperlink to find out the e-mail, but I'm just asking for the purpose of printing. I don't want my e-mail address shown in a long stream of E-mail send's and replies between a friend when I print it.

If there is a setting in Outlook to turn this off, please let me know, I fooled around with everything and I cant get it to work.

A:PROBLEM: Microsoft Outlook 2000/2002/2003 E-Mail Display

Under "tools/options/prefrences/e-mail options/advanced e-mail options " You can select "automatic name checking" which I think will convert the mailto to a name if it is in the global address or contacts list. I don't know what that does to people you send to I would think it depends on their setting...

I'm about to buy a new p.c. to replace my 7 year-old model (lucky me!). I want to download ALL my Outlook emails on to a stick for storage and for potential upload to the new p.c. I recently downloaded the programme as an experiment, but am unable to access the emails on the stick, although the icon is present.

Do I have to restore to the p.c. before I can access the information on the stick? I am hesitant to try this on my current machine as if I restore the version stored on the stick I assume this will override what is currently in Outlook, thereby losing any newer emails.

Hope I've explained my problem adequately and look forward to some help.

I am using Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, and in it, I use four different folders that fall under the 'Inbox' folder. These folders have rules attached to them so that when particular e-mails come through, they get placed in to these four folders.

Now, because of that, I never get an e-mail notification in the system-tray. I never get the transparent display or the little envelope icon, because essentially no e-mails ever go directly to my 'Inbox'.

Is there any way to set it up so that e-mails that I receive in these four folders will still give me an e-mail notification?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A:Solved: Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 E-Mail Notifcations

This is possible.

Follow the steps :

1. Outlook --> Tools --> Rules & Alerts
2. Highlight the Rule and Goto "Change Rule" drop down.
3. Edit Rule Settings.
4. In the Rules Wizard , click Next on the first screen
5. Scroll down all the way to the bottom on the second.
6. You will find an option - display a Desktop alert
7. Enable this option.
8. Go Next if you need more changes or Finish.
9. Close and reopen Outlook.

You should be set.

Using Outlook 2003, Part of MS Office Professional Edition 2003, which has the capability of having multiple, separate & complete email addresses, each functioning in their own profile.

E.g. I open Outlook and it gives me a drop-down box to choose which email I want to go to, say email1 or email2.

Email1 has 2 "Contacts" areas defined.
1st problem is how to combine and synch these two. I don't want two.

Email2 as 1 "Contacts" area.
2nd problem is to combine the contacts from Email1 with Email2.

I thought these were *.pab files, but a search for *.pab comes up empty.
I do find multiple *.pst files

Any suggestions?
