Restoring file backed up on old system with Nero..do I need Nero

Q: Restoring file backed up on old system with Nero..do I need Nero

I have an external hard drive with some files backed up from an old XP system using Nero Back Up software (files have the .NBA extension)
I am looking for a new computer and will want to install some of these files onto the new computer. Am I able to do this if the Nero software is not installed on the new computer, or will I have to buy Nero software just to add these files to the new computer? If so, is that always the case, that one must restore files using the same software used to backup the files?
Thanks.

A: Restoring file backed up on old system with Nero..do I need Nero

Yes, you will need to install the Nero Backup software in order to restore the .nba files.

You can try using their free version of NeroBackItUp from here http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads/ to see if that will work.

If not, they have older versions of the same free program http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads/previous-versions/nero-backitup.php

See if you can find the same version that you used to do the backup.

There are other programs you can use to do backups that don't require the same program to restore files. I use SyncBackFree to backup my files. You can use the same program to restore files, but it's not necessary. You can just copy the files back with Windows Explorer.

Hello, everyone.

I attempted to burn a video file onto a DVD, with Nero Express. However, the software only allows either bup, vob or ifo files. After googling such terms on the web, I came across several forums/communities and whatnot, where people kept saying that Nero Vision is required, in order to convert the files you want, into bup, vob or ifo (I have absolutely zero clue as to why the company behind Nero didn't include Nero Vision in Nero 12's software suite. Because without it, Nero Express is totally useless. But I digress)

I jumped on Nero Vision, but was told by the software that my project could only fit into a DVD-9.

Question 1: I have burnable DVDs for 120 min/4.7gb. Doesn't that mean that even if my project exceeds 120 minutes in length, if it still doesn't exceed the size limit, it's supposed to work? What on earth is a DVD-9, anyways?

Question 2: If you can just power on Nero Vision and immediately get your original file and burn it, why does Nero Express require all this bup, vob, ifo nonsense???

Question 3: What are the major differences between immediately burning your original file onto a DVD, and converting that into the required bup, vob and ifo formats?

Question 4: How would I go about doing that with Nero Vision?

EDIT: Realized that the only way to burn past that time limit (120 min)(My file exceeds 2 hours in length) is to decrease its quality, which I do not want to do. So I should go with the vob, bup, ifo stuff, ri... Read more

I stored my C drive on CD with nero backup utility before taking my hard drive to a new computer. I was unable to get up and going without a format and XP Pro reload. Now, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to restore my files. I'm using Nero OEM Suite 3, with Nero Express 6, and Nero backitup. I go to the the restore backup function in Nero. I insert the last disk. In the area that say select back up information I click on the folder to the right and go to the d: drive and I find 2 files. One is a folder the other has a symbol I am not familar with. I click on the one with the strange symbol and it goes to the bottom area where you have the drop down area and then I click open and it puts it back in the select backup information area. It reads 20060301_230421_malia allgaier.ndi. Then I click the button that says Restore to a selected path and put in c:\backup. Then I click the next button and it has the c: with what they call a tick mark next to it. If you click on the + symbol next to it it opens all the folders on the disk. I wanted to start out with just 1 item just in case I goofed something up. So I unchecked everything but 1 program. It told me to put in disk 1 so I did it read it and then it told me to insert the disk labeled Incd. I aleady have Incd loaded but I tryed putting in my suite disk and that did not work. At one point I did something and it started loading everything. It started with disk 1 and then asked for 2. I was not sure what I was d... Read more

A:backed up WLMB file, needs restoring !!!

An alternative approach might be to go to windows.old, everything should be there, too.

If you did a clean install (format) the file will not be there.

You will find windows.old, if you click on your C drive. It will be one of the folders.

I am using Nero BackItUp 2.0.0.0 (Nero Ultra 7) and have been receiving "data verification failed" and "Sector NNNNNN on disc has different content to source" errors recently. On the same PC (Win XP Pro SP2), I got the errors using two different burners (an HP and a Sony) and trying both a DVD/RW and a DVD/R. FYI, I use Shadow Copy for the burn, the burn process completes without error every time (i.e. - the error only occurs during verification), and I have burned to the DVD/RW many times before without incident. More generally, I didn't get data verification errors before so I am wondering why I might be getting them now. Also, could someone tell me what, exactly, "Sector NNNNNN on disc has different content to source" means? I assume it means that the source and target files are not matching in some cases. More importantly, is it a big deal? I ran the ScanDisc in Nero CD-DVD Speed and both DVDs had 100% good sectors (0% damaged or bad). Nero log file attached.

Thanks,

Ok so here's my issue:

The other day I performed a non destructive system restore on my hard drive, because I had a good amount of videos and music on my pc that I didn't want to lose.

Now when I try to access the folder that the videos were in (which is now a subfolder in the backup folder the system restore created), it says access denied
However, when I go into the backup restore wizard, I am able to access the folder with all of my videos just fine. The problem is, I can't for the life of me figure out how to restore them using this method.

Whenever I click on a video as if I were going to try and restore it, nothing at all happens. I'm guessing the problem has something to do with the files not being *.bfk files, because the videos only show up when I chose the "show all files" option.

The folders that the videos are in however, are being shown as *.bfk files, however it won't let me restore an entire folder for some reason.

Anyone have any advice?

Hi Everyone,
I have a HP pavallion running windows 7 home prem 64 bit and its about to drive me nuts. Initially it came with vista prem 64 bit but was eligible for the win7 upgrade which I obviously did. we had a power outage here and the computer would not boot up, after powering it up it woudl go to a blank screen with the flashing _ in the upper corner but you could not type anything ...it just sat there. finally I hit f11 and started a system restore using the HP restore wizard. It suggested I make disk to save all my files which I did ( took several hours to do) then it restored the computer back to windows vista, like out of the box. I then ran the win 7 upgrade disk I got from HP for the upgrade and that worked fine and now its like a win7 out of the box computer. I put in disk 1 of the 3 it made for backup thinking it would put all my files back in like music, photos favorite places ect . As soon as I inserted 1 it told me to insert 3, then shortly after that to put 1 in again and it started doing whatever it is it does. After several hours again I now have an icon on my desktop titled shortcut to system recovery....when I click on it open up it doesnt run anything...just goes to a window that shows C filefolder and restorewiz text doc. I am sure I am not explaining this entirely correct but really need help recovering my files.....any help would be greatly appreciated.

You say "It suggested I make disk to save all my files which I did".

Did you take that to mean your personal files, as opposed to Windows or programs?

If you put those disks you made into the DVD drive, what appears to be on them?

Do you have previously made independent backups of your personal files, such as on an external drive, a series of DVDs, a USB drive, or an image file?

My problem is that I simply cannot get Nero to record video and sound from the TV card. The TV plays fine in Windows Media player, so I know that is working. I can sometimes get the picture to show up in Nero, but never the sound. When I try to record the video all I get is a still image. I know it is a setup problem of some kind, but for the life of me I cant get it to work. When I try to play TV through Nero I get a blank screen, and a thousand setting adjustments dont help. During setup it finds all of the channels so it is at least seeing the signal. Do you have any ideas? System information is in my profile.

A:Whats Better? Nero Express Or Nero 7 Essentials?

"Better" in what way?

Nero Express doesn't bore users who only want to burn...who do not want the entire Nero suite installed (includes burning, backup, etc.) installed on the system.

CD/DVD drives normally only include Nero Express with the drives.

I'm still using Nero 6.6 so I have no clue about Nero 7 Essentials, but I'm sure there is plenty of info at the Nero website on it.

I am considering upgrading from Nero 8 to Nero 10.

However, I am not sure that I need any functionality that I don't have with Nero 8 Ultimate...

The one possible exception is Nero Media Home 4... However, in reading it briefly, it doesn't seem like it does a whole lot that isn't available out of the box for Windows 7 Home Premium...

Does anyone use Nero Media Home that can tell me what it does that might be worth buying the upgrade for. Ar ehtere any new features in Nero 10 that should cause me to buy it other than the name change?

A:Nero 10 and Nero Media Home

Didn't know that Nero 10 was being offered until I saw your post.

So, I went there and looked at it ... and I'm definitely NOT going to upgrade from Nero 9. Why? Because it looks like all they've done us bundled in two other products I don't need to justify the $50+ upgrade price.

I don't need the Video Editing SW (already have another product for that), and also already have another product for Backup/Restore that works just fine (Acronis True Image Home 2010).

What they're doing now is increasing the already "bloated" product that was originally, one of the finest CD/DVD burning packages out there.

Also, I saw yesterday that they're offering a Nero 9 "light" for free. Just basic CD/DVD burning SW -- but that's all I really need for now.

Unless you need the other add-ons, suggest you consider the Nero 9 light.

Good day.

I know this is an old subject but I have 100's of old Nero .nco files that I would like to restore from back up CD's.
I know that I can rename the file to a zip or rar and open the file successfully as they aren't encrypted with a password. I have done this but it's time consuming. I have hundreds that I want to do at once.
Apparently Nero no longer supports this in their new software.
So, is there any way to restore these all much faster and with less work? Sorry if I'm missing something obvious....

Thanks

Basically nero takes over these file types and leaves you no way of restoring them to your favourite player. This only occurs when trying to launch said file types from IE7, not from your HDD. As a result IE7 will take you to a 'page cannot be displayed' page if you click on a wmv or mpg link rather than launching the video in wmp 11.

Nero Show Time is the culprit but there is no entry in 'Default Programs' for it.

The registry entry for wmv: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wmv shows (Default).......NeroShowTime.Files9.wmv.

Uninstalling Nero, (which takes ages, as does installing) doesn't restore WMP11's file associations.

A:Nero 9 wmv/mpg file associations.

I had to do it manually.

In regedit go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wmv and change "NeroShowTime.Files9.wmv" to "WMP11.AssocFile.WMV"

Do the same for AVI and MPG, except for AVI change the registry entry to "WMP11.AssocFile.AVI" and MPG to "WMP11.AssocFile.MPEG"

Im supprised no one replied to this, anyway that's how I got it working again.

It would would be good if the Vista default programs list enabled you to over ride the current settings like you could do via the the WMP11 More options> file types list in Xp. This way someone with little to no knowledge of the windows registry wouldn't have to go in and edit it, i.e. me.

It would also be better if Nero 9 didn't take over all the media file type associations! Or at least gave you an option not to, or change it back.

Hi All,

I just installed nero 7 ultra edition and neglected to tinker with the file associations. anyone know how I can do this?

Thanks!

A:Solved: file associations in nero

Hi,

I'm assuming that by "tinker," you mean change the default associations that Nero sets when you install it.

The simplest way I know of to change any type of file association, including those for Nero, is to open My Computer, then go to Tools>Folder Options. On the 'File Types' tab, there is a list of all the filetypes recognized on your computer, and the default program used to open them. Just use the 'Change' button below to set this to a different program.

Let me know if this answers your question.

Within the last two months I built a new computer ever since that I am having problems with my photo files. I shoot almost totally using NEF format. Nikon RAW format uses .nef as its extension. But since the new computer all my photo files have the extension. "Nero Encrypted File"

I have a network to my laptop etc and this does not have ?Nero? installed and it views my main computer photo files correctly (i.e. all showing with the nef extension.

When installed the software on my new computer I think that Nero was installed first, followed by CS3, Perhaps if I had done this the other way round this would not have happened! I don?t know.

I have tried my computer > tools> folder options> file types and all the settings seem correct. I did try changing the NEF file and then putting it back to the original setting. But nothing has changed. I understand some people have had problems when a programme called Nero Photo snap is installed, but I don?t have that.

I am running Nero 7 Essentials it seems to have taken complete control of all these photo files for some reason. It?s most annoying. Any advise/help will be appreciated.

I'm trying to make an MP3 CD. I'm using Nero 6. When I use Burning Rom I get "Some files could not be added" (it doesn't add ANY) and when I use Express I get "No compatible file found" Or if I try the ADD button I see NO FILES in my folder that has MP3's inside.

I do this on a regular basis as I listen to a radio show that I download (that I pay for). I use rewritable Cd's for this reason but I tried a regular CD and it didn't work either. I didn't think it was the media but you never know. I have never had this problem before. Should I maybe reinstall the program? Or any other suggestions? Thanks.

Hi-

I converted an avi movie file which was 6.8 GBs and want to burn to a DVD. I keep getting a popup that the file is too large to store as ISO and that I should use a different compiliation (UDF) whatever that is....however when I click on that UDF on their dropdown menu, nothing happens. I just wanted to be able to turn my avi. file into a video file which I did so I can play on DVD player. Thank you.

BTW, I used WinAvi to convert the file which worked fine.

Hi, I am using windows XP pro and up until yesterday I could burn cd or dvd after cd or dvd . Now if I try to burn more than one , it tells me the burner is in use already and I have to reboot before burning anything else. This is VERY annoying. I have already tried deinstalling and reinstalling nero . Anybody got any ideas please? I have my system restore turned off so I can't do a roll back. This happened after I used a windows tweak program.. I am SO DUMB .. was working well should have left it alone... perhaps?

That's right, this annoying piece of crap bloated software messed up my file associations and I don't know how to restore them! I have already uninstalled Nero.

One example is with video and image files. ICO files are now named something like nerophotosnap.type1.ico instead of just .ico and also unlike before I am unable to see the atual icon when I set my view mode to "Icon", it just shows the default file icon. How do I reset it so that it shows the actual icon image of the icon file?

Would appreciate some help with all of this.

Hi anyone..

I'm using Win XP. Win Media player has always been my default media player. Wav,midi,WMV extensions all opened in Media Player. last week I purchased a DVD burner and installed it along with the Nero sofware. It seems to work fine, but seems to have taken over as Default player now! Most files seem to open with theNero player which is fine, except it won't open WMV files now! Any attached WMV file I recieve, I have to save it to a folder, go to explorer, right click, then select Open in Win Media player, and then it works and plays.

I do not want to un-install Nero since I need it to complement the new DVD burner. Where can I look or go and find somehow to select Win Media player as default player, and still retain Nero in the puter. There used to be a option box appear when an attempt to open a un associated file was opened, where one could choose which program to open it with, and also select a box for which makes Win Media player the default. But that box no longer appears, so I see no other options.

Puter is XP and browser is IE7.
Can anyone Help??
Thanks All...

I created a slideshow using Windows Movie Maker, and saved it to my computer so I could view it with Windows Media Player. It saved as a .wmv file. I then opened Nero6 to burn it to a cd. I followed the instructions (NeroVision Express 2) to create a video cd. Imported the video, and tested it, and it played fine, just like I had recorded it, with the fade ins and outs, etc. I followed the next steps, which was basically just creating a title, and was taken to the review page right before burning the disc. When I review it at this point, it plays the movie, but the transitions (aforementioned fade ins, and ease ins and outs of the pictures) no longer work. I did not change anything at all on the video, just added the title. Can anyone tell me what has happened please? This is quite frustrating. My os is Windows XP by the way, if that matters.

When I insert a new CD to be ripped, I used to get an intermediate screen which allowed me to edit the titles.

There was a check box to not see the screen any more. I recently inadvertently clicked the box and I no longer see that screen.

Any ideas on how I can get the screen back??

My dvd burner came bundled w/ Nero express,Nero5.5.(4months ago)
In a very recent MONARCH ad Nero 6 is offered for$10.cd oem .
Next,I see a big PC mag. article about the $100 Nero 6 Ultra.
Can anyone shed light on this confusion? and should I just stick w/ 5.5 or go for an upgrade...
BTW Nero's web site didn't answer this line of questions at all.

A:Nero 6 vs.Nero 6 ultra

Nero 6 Ultra has a lot of auxiliary programs in with the package. I have Ultra and I have never compared it to the Nero 6 OEM that I also have here; but, I can say that with the exception of one movie I copied for backup, all I do with mine is simply burn data backups to DVDs and Nero 6 OEM (Basic) will do that just fine.

You can get cheap OEM copies of many softwares at www.buycheapsoftware.com. That's where I get most of my OEM software.

I know this doesn't fully answer your question; but, perhaps someone will happen along who can.

"This program requires the file advrcntr2.dll which was not found on this system."

Hi guys, I've been getting that error for a few days now and not even when I do anything with Nero. When I try to watch videos on my computer AVI or whatever, I get that error. I've already uninstalled Nero (7) and deleted every trace of a Nero file I can find on my PC, but I still get this error. Even for just highlighting a video file, it pops up like 10 times.

I tried the Nero clean tool and that didn't do anything either. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, David.

A:Nero error: advrcntr2.dll file not found

The advrcntr2.dll file should be located in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib folder. If you find the advrcntr2.dll file in the C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32 folder, chances are it is not Nero's legitimate advrcntr2.dll file, but rather an infestation.

First thing to do is run scans... We like to use SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes scans for this.

Then I would totally remove the Nero 7 using add and remove, then remove from your registry using a simple registry editor, such as RegClean by Juoni Viourno or similar name, from MajorGeeks.com...

once you have removed the old Nero 7. defrag your system, then reboot, and install Nero from the Nero Disk. You cannot patch Nero 7... you either have to reinstall it, or download the update from the Nero web site.

Don't download the advrcntr2.dll DLL file from any "DLL download site." There are several reasons that downloading DLLs from these sites are never a good idea, and Nero/Ahead Software makes sure these DLL sites are trouble for their software..

If you've already downloaded advrcntr2.dll from one of those DLL download sites, remove it from wherever you copied it to and continue with the following steps, run Add and Remove in Windows, then Reg Clean, as above, and then follow these steps..

Although you have already done this, do it again after the above removals. Restart your computer to see if the error remains.. The advrcntr2.dll error might be a fluke and a simple restart sometim... Read more

Hello

I'm not exactly sure how to fix the problem I'm having with Nero. It started when I bought a new Hard Drive to replace one that had died on me. I reinstalled all my programs, which included Nero 6.0. I had always been happy with the product, and especially with Showtime.

I was surprised to find a nag screen telling me that my products were expired, and that I had to Upgrade to the current version in order to continue using the products. So I bought Nero 9.
That's where the real problem begins. Each time I Install Nero 9, I am confronted with the super long install time, and even worse than that is the fact that nero 9 steal every file association for its own use. I have not found way to revert the file types to default or even my custom settings without totally uninstalling Nero 9.

I've already spent the money and I can't take it back now, and apparently, I can't go back to 6, and expect it to work. I have read several web posts about The successors to nero 6 being more bloated, and having an affinity for taking over files. and retaking them after each update.

So my questions are as follows.

1 is there a way to turn off Nero's auto update. I didn't find any in the Downloader info or on the website.
2. Is there a way to prevent Nero from Hijacking every process / File type? and if not, how do I change them manually without them being hijacked again? as I am afraid of using the Registry editor.

A1. Yes!
When you start Nero Startsmart look at the bottom R/H Corner and you will see 2 icons, one is the Nero Startsmart Help and the other is the Check for Updates, click on the Updates icon and answer NO! to Nero Control Center window that opens next and then remove the tick from the box "Check for updates X days" and it will never again check for updates.
A2. Yes!
Uninstall Nero 9.0 and then use the Nero General Clean Tool to clean out all remnants of Nero 9 and past installs then re-install Nero 9.0 and you will be presented with a window similar to this click on the Remove All button for each and every Tab until you get to the Options Tab remove all the ticks except for the tick in the box for Create desktop shortcut for Nero Startsmart and then click Next for the install to complete.

I hope you can follow the processes above, I'm not an expert at laying out directions from memory.

Hi all - I'm a newbie here.....I just used nero burning rom v6.6 for the first
time and I have an interesting problem now - I have a huge 7.7+GB file hiding on my hard drive that I can't find to get rid of and free up the space. Here is what happened:

1. I did a DVD copy from a movie using nero burning ROM wizard
2. I used the default settings, which says it will create
the image file in the path: C:\Documents and Settings\*user
name*\My Documents\TempImage.nrg
3. The creation of the dvd image completed successfully
4. when I put in the dvd-r disc I was going to burn
the image to when prompted by the program to do so, I
got a message telling me that there was not sufficient
space to write the image file (7.7GB vs only 4.3GB
availabe on the DVD-R) (I didn't know I had to use software to shrink the file like DVD Shrink, but I know that now)
5. Then the copy process stopped at this point.

Now I can't find the 7.7GB image file anywhere on my system. I've gone from 10.7GB free to 3GB free on my hard drive and I want to find and delete the file to free up space. I've done all kinds of searches with view
hidden files/folder enabled in windows explorer for
nrg files iso files etc, I've even manually checked
the default path where the image file is supposed to
be and ITS NOT THERE....where is this image file????
Any help and insight would be enourmously appreciated...

http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&th=2f61720aa921ecaf&rnum=3

All the info is near the bottom, eg:

"Every language pack includes:

Language files for the program itself and

Helpfiles for:

- NeroExpress
- Nero CoverDesigner
- Nero WaveEditor
(not for languages marked with * )

The english language includes only the helpfiles, because the language

Thank you!

A:Burning or reburning (later) an nvc file from Nero Vision4

Hi, welcome to TSG.

When you get to the point where you're going to burn the DVD there's another option called 'Write to hard disk folder' which will write the files to your hard drive.

Then later on you can use Nero Express or Nero burning ROM to burn the files to a DVD. That's actually the best way to do it, write the files to the hard drive first and then burn later.

Recently I used my internet explorer, which I never use, and now am getting pop up ads that will run in the background. When I look at my running processes sometimes iexplore will be running, as well as a file that I never see in there called 4iuw51oM.exe. I will kill both, and it'll be fine, but it always comes back.

I ran Spybot S&D, and removed everything it found. Then ran Ad-Aware and it found 90 objects, all tracking cookies, located in the same place that it wouldn't let me remove. Every time I click on copy I receive a warning "disc capacity not big enough".

I installed Nero 9 and the b*stards hijacked many of my file associations. I've restored them so that the proper app launches when I click on a media file, but Nero associations still show under File Type when looking at file lists. E.g., AVI files are listed as "NeroShowTime.Files9.avi," and WMV files as "NeroShowTime.Files9.wmv."
Does anybody know how I can get rid of this crap and have them properly display in the file list as just .avi & .wmv files?

You would think when you press print you would get that basic info but that isn't what prints. While using Vista I backed up my HD using Windows Backup to a 250GB Seagate FreeAgent Go USB drive.

I then installed Windows 7 Professional using a clean install.

The backup files on the Seagate can be viewed as the F drive. However, when I use Windows Restore function no backup files are listed.

Any suggestions on how I get my files back?

What format are the programs "backed up" in? are they archived or just copied? if they're just copied then can you not just try running the .exe?

how did you go about backing them up?

post back with more info.

This maybe a stupid question, but I suck at all things that have to do with computers.

So, my computer was really messed up and I decided to do a system recovery. I backed up my files onto my computer before doing this. I still have my backup folder and everything on my computer... but is there a way i can restore it so my computer was as it was before I did the restoration? (all my program files in the right place, all icons on desktop, etc?)

Please let me know!!

Hi!

I was wondering how I can proceed under these circumstances

I have backed up the drive which house windows as a disk image using norton ghost 14 onto another physical drive.

the windows drive is showing signs of wear now and I was wondering if one day C: crashed, is there a way to restore working order with the backed up image? if so how? considering if C: crashed, I won't have an OS to log into.

Thanks =)

I have some files on an external drive that were backed up from a different computer. None of them are system files, they're mostly personal documents and pictures.

Now I would like to restore them to my new computer that uses Windows 10. For the life of me, I can't seem to get it to restore them w/o getting a run-around. I would just copy/paste them to the new computer, but they were all renamed with what looks like a date and "UTC" in parenthesis at the end, which would be a real pita to get rid of because there are hundreds of these renamed files. I tried to use Bulk Rename Utility but found it very user-unfriendly and gave up on it. Here's an example of a file with the added parenthetical name:

Hi, thanks for reading.

Well I used clonezilla to backup my c drive before I moved from Win 7 rc 7100 x64 to Win 7 Rtm x64 7600. Back up worked fine.

When I went to restore the c drive it failed. After numerous tries at restoring my c drive and d drive where erased.

I only have a back up saved of my c drive and would like to restore it using anything but clonezilla. Something very user friendly if possible.

Any recommendations and or guides would be great. Free or paid software.

Doesn't matter.

Thanks

Before a complete computer restore, I backed up my messages on a CD. I have since transferred them back to the HD but am unable to restore them to Outlook Express. If I use File-Import-Messages, then tell it where the messages are stored, it says it cannot find them. (I know they are there) I had no problem restoring the Address Book by the same method but cannot restore the Messages. Any suggestions ?

You could try restoring them directly from the backup CD.

Carbonite automatically backs up my Windows 2007 Outlook files containing my contacts and emails. I see the files to restore in Carbonite. How do I get the files back to Outlook 2007 to download correctly and work again in Outlook 2007?

A:Restoring Outlook 2007 Files Backed Up From Carbonite

Have you reinstalled the OS or are you just restoring the files? It should restore the files to their original location unless the path has changed. All that should be restored is a PST file.

Sorry about my username, but it rejected so many of my attempts that I just gave up.
I have a friend, a sweet elderly lady whose main interests are her two church web sites and her email. Her Dell desktop running Windows 7 Pro x64 was a horrendous mess of malware, totally uncleanable and crashing left and right.  It didn't have a valid restoration partition. So I used my official Dell Windows 7 Pro System Restore flash drive to reinstall the system.  Of course it backed up her data.
When it was done the computer software was clean but it was still crashing.  I fade a mistake; I tried re-re-installing from the flash drive.  When that didn't help I looked at hardware, found some bad RAM, and replaced it.
Then I had a working system except the data restoration was from the second installation, i.e. nothing.  I looked around for something that would restore from the original backup.  Dell backup and restore wouldn't do it.  I couldn't find anything.
So I made a copy of the second backup folder, and copied the files from the first backup folder into the second backup folder.  Just to make sure I touched all the files to the same date and time as the second backup files. Then I re-re-reinstalled.
It restored some , but I'm pretty sure not all, of the files from the first backup. And when it boots it keeps asking to reboot to restore the data files.  I bet i can stop it from doing that, but...

Hello;

Purchased a new pc (running W2K Pro OS) that came with nero software for an installed burner. Regardless of the file type I want to access, for instance, play an online audio clip (cheap-cds.com) where windows media player would ordinarily handle, "nero media player/media file" default appears insteads and wants to either download it and save in order to play the clip or open a file instead of just playing the clip on the WMP. I was going to upgrade the nero software anyway, so even after uninstalling nero, Nero media player/files continue to function as default instead of WMA. How do I stop Nero from being the default player or use of its file extensions and allow WMP to serve as default player. I've looked for an option on the WMP itself to set the player as default and or its related media files and wan't able to come-up with anything. Looked into folder/file options as well, and while I found a ton of Nero extensions still present, found nothing in the way of a default setting- Hope this makes sense. Any assist would be appreciated- thanks

A:Solved: Removing Nero as Media Player/Media file default...

Go into WMP > Tools > Options > File Types and choose the file types you would like WMP to be the default player.

hi guys, i have problem here, need help quick

I just formatted my drive (c:\) due to the attack of virus, now, since i had made a system image on drive d:\, i want to restore all the system files on drive c:\ but when i tried to restore it through windows repair , setup gave a warning that i can't restore the files since the drive ( where the system backup is located) was excluded and it won't do a restoration, what should I do?

Notice that the drive c: and d: are in the same physical drive.

A:restoring from system image file

you should do system images in external media or hard drives to avoid corruption, remember that if the HD goes bad, all goes bad. are you using the "use a system image you created earlier to recover your computer"?

I think I've hit a limit of Nero 6.6.1.4 running under Win2k. I am trying to burn the whole Bible to an MP3 DVD for a dyslexic friend, obviously there are many chapters. I've tried twice & both discs start play at chapter 10 of Genesis, I figure I'm ten tracks over the limit of what Nero can handle?

Would I fair better under XP's native disc burning?

Simple explanation. My Game DVD player only reads from chap 10 for some unknown reason?

Plays fine in computer.

There is no "legal" way that I know of. cant you use it for 15 days and when it times out either buy it and enter the serial number, or un-install it?

Either way you may have to install. If I am correct nero makes a trial version that cannot be changed to a working version.

Good luck

A:Nero 6.6

Which OS are you using? Some versions of Nero have issues with Vista - so I'd suggest updating it to the most recent version for compatibility purposes.

I was using MagicIso & MagicDisc to create .iso & .uif files & mount them, but the 2 programs (not exactly sure which) gave my comfuser problems & it was acting really bad ... I had to format & reinstall.

I've heard of Daemon Tools but have never used/seen it used, will it create .iso files & be able to mount them? This is all I really need. If Daemon Tools will be a good fit, which version will work best on 7 Pro 64Bit w/SP1?

I have an ASUS DRW-24B1ST optical drive & the disc that came w/it has Nero 9, should I install this?

A:Nero or not

To create an .iso file from a folder tree one way is to use ImgBurn. It gives you a lot of control of file system options.

For mounting here's a list of tools
ISO/Image - VideoHelp.com Downloads

edit: I have used Daemon Tools in the past. But it seems it reached a certain version a few years ago that incorporated some instability. I've seen reports here that problem persists. It may vary by machine though. It might run fine on your machine. Only trying it will tell.

I am running windows xp professional, it is completely up to date with all microsoft patches/fixes via the microsoft update website.

No other software or hardware or other instability unreliability issues with my system; ie. apart from the problem mentioned herein, my computer is working optimally.

I have an odd/wierd problem when launching Smartstart in that the Smartstart User Interface font is not being displayed. The Smartstart UI icons are ok, but all text therein is missing! See screenshot for pictorial explanation of what I am trying to convey.

This problem is really annoying and I'm sure the resolve/fix to it will be equally of the 'Now why didn't I think of that!!?" kind

Any pointers/help/assistance/information/guidance will be very very much appreciated.

I am using ImgBurn and find that it works well but that it doesn't allow the user to change the burn speed (or if the setting is there I can't find it).
Any ideas for alternative burning software?

Thanx
