Q: Images not being printed in Word 2002

Hey, I have a person here that has the problem that drawings that she has in her documents don´t print out. I´ve tried turning off background printing still same, I´ve tried printing it on my printer and that works.

Anyone have any idea on any settings or something I can change to make it work?

I can see the images I "save as" and/or copy and paste or insert into a word 2002 document from web pages in the "print preview" screen, but not on the regular screen of my document. I've been doing the same thing for years but with my new Dell computer (with Windows XP home edition), it doesn't work anymore.

Anyone know what I need to do differently with XP or Word 2002 so I can see the images?

A:Images into word 2002

In word, click on tools, then options, and in the view tab, make sure drawings is checked under print and web layout.

Hi;

I just started with Word 2002. With Word 97 you could paste in a image and move it wherever you wanted. With Word 2002 you can double click and the image and change some settings to allow overlap. I don't want to have to do this to every image I copy and paste. Is there a way to permanently change the settings to allow me to move images around on the page, or to get Word 2002 to work like Word 97 did? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings all. I have a slight problem with one of our employee's computers. When they go to open a file using Word 2002 (XP) they do not see images in documents, instead it is simply a white box with a black outline. We know this is not a problem with the document as the images are visible on my own machine, 2003, and an older version of Word, 2000.

Also what is weird with this, is that when the person prints the document the image is visible on the document.

I've found nothing on Microsofts website regarding this matter.

Any resolution you can steer me towards is most grateful.

Problem: Green Cast on Images being printed
Editor - Elements Version 7 & Windows default viewer
Printer R285
Colour Management:- every variation tried

My Neighbour has a Epsom R285 http://www.epson.co.uk/Store/Printers-and-All-in-Ones/Epson-Stylus-Photo-R285 printer, his had it a few years.
I have recently changed his PC to a Windows 7 desktop and installed all the drivers. The Printer worked fine, but yesterday he was getting a green colour cast on all images
I checked the head alignment, nozzle set-up and cleaned the heads
Checked with windows default viewer, and printing from that application - same problem
Checked all the Colour Management, ICC, settings etc - tried without Management, sRGB, adobe 1998 etc, checked colour management on printer and elements

The image looks fine on the screen , I have emailed a sample image and on my setup it prints fine

The next step was to try the printer on my laptop
any other ideas - this is usually a colour management issue and i have fixed quite quickly in the past on other systems - so I suspect I'm missing something obvious now

I have a problem with my Word documents. When I try to print them, the right edge is cut off. I thought it was my computer or my printer, so I took it to another computer, and the same thing happened.

The problem is in the files themselves. How do I change the files so they function as they used to? This has been the case with more than 20 files, which were made at different times.

My computer used to warn that the form I was using was too wide, and ask did I want to go ahead. I would select yes, it would print, and would look just fine. Now it does not ask that question.

Incidentally, another problem is that my files no longer end with .doc, but now say .rtf. All of my Word files changed in several ways at once.

I have a generic worksheet created from a Word Template (Bill of Lading Template if that helps) and I want to have the user enter input such as address to, PO #, CO #, Quantity of Pieces/Lbs, i.e. only certain boxes of the table. Once the user prints this form, I would like for it to clear only these certain boxes. Is there a macro I could create to do this? I created one so that it clears the boxes, but I am unsure if I can make one that automatically runs once I click print. Any help you can give is appreciated.

Thanks

A:Creating Macro in Word to clear worksheet one Printed

Hi, welcome to the forum.
If you already have a macro then all you need to do is trigger it once the sheet is printed.
You can do this by using an event.
I would have to look it up, but if you Google for Worksshet on event print then you need sometinh like AfterPrint .
I'll see if I can find something but you could try a search via Google and see what you can find too.

Just fopund this one ...

I have an Access database used on daily basis to enter and print the maintenance work order in a report format. I have assigned a command button to print the required record. On clicking the button in the Form, a parameter query will run asking the user to put the record number to proceed. Once the correct record number is entered in the parameter text box, the report is previewed and the user click on the print button to print the same.

My question is as follows:

Is there any method to find out the record i am going to print now was already printed before? A kind of record keeping for the printed records.

Also, a message box should warn the user saying incase if the record was already printed, “The record was previously printed, do you want to continue printing again?”

Please tell me a way to perform the above in my Form.
Thanks,

When Im protecting a document in Word 2003 and allow exceptions, the exceptions have a grey box as a placeholder. This is printing out as faint grey lines on the printed version. Is there anyway to change the colour of the placeholder (it looks like a field) - or get rid of it entirely?

A:Protect document in Word 2003. Place holders showing on printed copy

Hi LoloPerth, welcome to TSG.

If the exceptions use the same shading that field codes do, it might work to turn off the field code shading. You can go to Tools/Options and change the dropdown box under Field Shading to Never. Let us know if that has any effect.

I am a medical transcriptionist. I have hundreds of auto corrects on my current computer with Windows XP Word 2002 on it. I am needing to, if possible, copy the auto corrects from Word 2002 to another computer with Windows XP Word 2003.

I also have hundred of words that I have added to spell check that it would be great if I could copy those as well.

I do have a flash drive that I can save these to.

Can someone please help me in terminology and steps that a computer dummy can understand?

Open the document(s) in question and press ALT + F11 to bring up your Visual Basic editor. On the left hand side of the VB editor is your project explorer window. In the project explorer window you will see a folder called "Modules" that you can open to show all the modules attached to the document. These modules is where you VBA code is stored. You can right click each module and selection the option to export to the location of your choice. Once exported you can copy or save them to another machine and then re-import them by openining the VB editor on the other compuer and choosing FILE >> IMPORT.

I have a Word database file that is 16 columns wide and several hundred rows long.

With the database open:

1. My macro opens a new document (Which I’ll call the “Working Doc”)
2. Activates the database file
3. Captures the information from all the cells in row 1
4. Activates the Working Doc
5. Inserts a Word file at the end of the document based on the information in one of the cells. This file is composed of a couple of paragraphs and a table
6. Inserts the information gathered from the database file into the table
7. Activates the database file
8. Captures the information from all the cells in row 2
9. Activates the Working Doc
10. Inserts a different Word file at the end of the document based on the information in one of the cells. This file is also composed of a couple of paragraphs and a table. All of the inserted files are a couple of paragraphs and a table
11. Inserts the information gathered from the database file into the table
12. And so on until the end of the database is reached.

I have been using this macro for several months with no problems when the database table was only a couple of hundred rows. The database table for the last couple of projects has been several hundred rows instead of a couple of hundred rows.

When I run the macro with the large database, it goes through about ¾ of the database, starts to really slow down and eventually freezes Word.

I can split the database in half and run the macro twice and then paste the 2 documents together bu... Read more

Hello!
I have Access 2002 running on WinXP. I have designed a database table containing information about Products. I have designed one Form that displays select information from that Table. One of the fields in the Table is a ImageLocationField that shows the location of a JPG images stored in an Imaqe Folder on my hard disk (C:\foldername\imagename1.jpg). The folder contains approx 500 images (imagename1.jpg to imagename500.jpg) but new images are constantly added. When I add a product to my database and I want an image I simply put the relevant image in the Image Folder and add the Image Location in the ImageLocationField.

I now wish to show the relevant image in my Form when looking up a Product.

Can someone tell me how I go about that? Thanks!

I have created a simple Access database for home inventory. What I want to do is have an input form, and when you're entering information on an item, there will be some kind of control to add a picture of the item (basically where you can click an icon, then you will have a dialog box open to your hard drive and you can drill down to an image and have it added to the database as a field). This will then tie the picture of the item to the proper information. I hope I didn't confuse anyone, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Access 2002 Using images as input data

Hi, Boy. Welcome to TSG.

I strongly advise AGAINST storing pictures in your DB. You will end up with it all bloated--electronic DB size too big too quickly. However, to do so, you need a field in the table with type OLE object.

On your form, you can right-click it and hit Insert-Picture.

See www.theofficeexperts.com/downloads.htm and check out the MyPictures DB (free download). There, we don't store the pictures in the DB, we just link to them...

Yea I know.. 2002.. wtf? My company doesnt like to spend money on new software.. Anyhow, I have an employee that uses pop3 on outlook 2002 and is able to send and receive files. He can send word docs and excel files but when he tries to send Images I guess from what he is saying is that it gets to like 75% on sending the files and then all of the sudden it goes in reverse and drops from 75%-66% and so on. I tried to google the issue but I am having no luck at the moment. The employee is a field employee and is rarely ever at the home office so I have not seen this issue in person.

A:Outlook 2002 Unable To Send Images

Hi WiR3D. I assume these images are sent as attachments?Word and Excel docs are considerably smaller then image files. His ISP may have a limit on individual e-mail size.He can test that by sending a very small image file (under 1mb) to see if it gets through. If it does, that's the problem. There are free alternatives such as YouSendIt Lite.

Hi all, I have a problem with viewing my Word 2000 documents under Word 2002. I format a document under 2000 and when I look at it under 2002 the margins on the top and bottom are shifted upward. The margin settings are the same size when I look at the document under 2000 and 2002 but the 2002 documents are offset. My text boxes and pictures are shifted somehow. I was thinking there might be a hot fix for this issue. Anyone know what is causing this?
Thank you

A:Word 2000 Doc's offset under Word 2002

are you flipping between 2000 and 2002?

why not use the same version of word on both computers?

i ran into a different problem with office '97 and 2000 and changed all systems to 2k.
i'd run a 97 or 2k word doc and was always asked if i wanted to change to the other format, sometimes i did, sometimes i didn't.

i have a feeling you try to look at a doc done in 2k and want to view it in 2002.
when you finish you're probably asked do you want to revert back to 2k and that's why you're having problems.
if you change it to 2002 it 's supposed to be backward compatible with 2k and you don't say if this is happening one time or every time.

Hi,

I recently got some dictionary software that came with a Word macro component. The software's quite old (it's the latest release - they don't make it anymore) and everything seems to install Ok, but when I try and run the Word Macro, I get a message saying that my Word version (2002 XP - I recently upgraded) can't run or convert the Word 2000 macro. (I think it's being a bit generous - the dictionary software was made in 1994 - more like Word 6 vintage)

There is a Word file on the dictionary software disk that seems to install the macro and toolbar button etc.

Is there something I can do to make the macro work?

Thanks

David

PS I'm not really up on my macro stuff, so please use simple language.

Here is a twofer. I think they are related.
1. Message Body (In-line) Images Don't Stick

After building my new PC (see profile), installing the OS and Microsoft Office XP (with latest updates, whatever they are), images I insert into the body of messages using Insert>Picture appear to be inserted OK, but as soon as Outlook or I save the draft I get a square with a little red X in it where the image was. If I paste an image into the body of the message I get the square and X right away.

I am using the HTML message format. What could the conflict be that causes this? It has me stumped!
2. Cannot Dial Out from Contact

Since I installed Microsoft Office XP on my new PC I have not been able to dial out using the New Call dialog in Outlook 2002. I was able to do it on my old PC with this version of Office. Any ideas?
Thanks, - Dave

A:Outlook 2002 (xp) Message Body Images Don't Stick

In response to problem one:

In my experience pictures appearing as squares with red x's have two possible causes:

Possibility 1) The path for the picture in incorrect or cannot be found. For example, I created a hyperlink to a picture on a website for my profile page at the university. The website changed its name, thus the URL was no longer the same. Consequently, the picture on my profile page disappeared and was replaced with a square with a red x. The problem was solved when I updated the URL.

Possibility 2) You have images disabled in your e-mail. Consequently, all images will appear as squares with red x's.

It should be the default for Word so if you don't have a bunch of macros or tool bars that you have created for word you can do a search for Normal.dot. (Make sure Word is closed when you do this.) When you find it rename to somethink like normalold.dot. Then open Word after you have renamed. A new normal.dot will be created and restore to original Word default.

I have created a form in Word 2002 using tables. When I try to add lines to a table to fill the page with rows, the table splits before the page is filled and it continues on the next page.
It appears that a text area is beneath or below the table and shows space for text when there is no text and no space to delete. No matter what, I cannot remove the automatic text area that results from inserting the table and extra rows; it just advances and causes the table to split to the next page before it fills the page. Get rid of all the extra paragraph markers inside the cell, and select the row and set the cell's height to EXACTLY however many points it takes to get it to the height you want. You may have to play a bit.

Hello,

I have a question with Word 2002. I would like to know how can I conserve the same space between two words or between a word and punctuation (in French), while using margin justification. For example, "hello, how are you ?" Here I have left a space between "?" and "you" but when I justify, that space will increase to much. How can I specify to leave that space as it is?

Thank you

"The document name or path is not vaild. Try one or more of the following: -Check the path to make sure it was typed correctly
-On the file menu, click open, search for the file using this dialog box"

Other documents open fine which are in the same folder. I have also tried opening it in words "safe mode".

Hey there,

Since reformatting my PC back to the factory standard it has been asking my to show it where some install files are for Word 2002.

I have already installed the Office 2000 Suite and am wondering how to get rid of the pop-ups. They appear some times many times in a row and other times just once.

I'm not sure where to go from here as the program is not listed in the Add/Remove Programs list.

Any help appreciated.

I helped a friend, with a HP system using Windows ME, upgrade to XP Professional. After doing that, Word 2002 is now trying to install wordret.msi and cant find the file. HP never sent her the hard disk for Word, and it is not on any of the 3 recovery disks that they gave her. I tried to find the file on my Office 2000 disk and it is not there. Does anyone know how or where I can find this file? Is there a site that I can download it from? HELP, PLEASE! Also, I have the SR-1a, SR-2 and SR-3 Service Packs. Would installing any of these help the situation?

Thanks in advance!

Hey all...

Background Info:
Have 5 users (I am one of the users so I have first hand knowledge of the error) running WinXP SP1 (with most of the updates from Windows Update) with MSOffice XP SP1. All users are using MSOutlook 2002 and using Word as their e-mail editor instead of the default editor in Outlook.

Error
All the users got a Winword error when they tried to open an e-mail and had to deselect the Wordmail feature to be able to read e-mail again. Right after that anytime we tried to open a Word document we get another error message...

"Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

You then get the usual "Please tell Microsoft about this problem". There is also a link that you can click to see what info is being sent to MS and at the top of this Window it has...

Error signature
AppName: winword.exe
AppVer: 10.0.3416.0
ModName: shell32.dll

I then got the idea that it may have been one of the patches that was installed from Windows Update as all 5 of us have the Automatic Update notification turned on. To make sure I decided to do a fresh clean install of everything.... Read more

A:Word 2002 problem...

Well here is an update on this post. Success!!!!

Yesterday I happened to be working on one of the PC's and found that the PC was not WinXP SP1. The user though it was and I did not check (ddddooooohhhhh!!!!!). Anyways I upgraded the PC to SP1 and the problem is gone. Since the other 3 PC's in question were SP1 already I reapplied the service pack and now their problem is gone also.

I'm going to assume (I'd better be careful) that the 810847 patch over wrote a file or 2 and re-applying SP1 fixed the problem.

This problem can be marked as solved...

Anyway, install Word 2002, just don't do a *typical* install, choose Custom and put it into a folder called C:\WordXP instead of the default directory it wants to install into.

That way, you can run both.

The only program that runs slow on my computer is MS Word 2002. It takes about 10 seconds to open a document or close a document. I have tried just about everything; reinstall from new disk, closing all windows, etc. The only thing that helps at all is when I leave one Word window open at all times. My computer is virus free, and I run several spyware programs often.

A:Word 2002 Very Slow

Hi,

Have you tried the MS Word "cure all" of deleting the template file

normal.dot.

Seach for and either delete all copies of the file or rename them

normal.dot is the "document 1" blank page that appears when you start MS Word. The file can become corrupt as it is in use a lot.

You may need to set your system to seach / show all hidden and system files to display the file.

If necessary you may need to do this in Safe Mode.

The file normal.dot is recreated by MS Word when you next restart the program. All you will "loose" is page formatting data, margins fonts etc.

Secunia PSI tells me that Microsoft Word 2002 is insecure. Threat rating is category 4, HIGH! There is a Download Solution button provided, but I can't access anything when I click on it. Then I have the situation below and I wonder if that is the same item as this one in PSI.

Windows Update gives me an important update of 52.3 MB and it is Office XP Service Pack 3. I have tried to install this item 3 times. It runs to a certain point and then tells me that I have to insert the disk. My system is OEM and I don't have any disk. So what do I do?

A:What do I do with Microsoft Word 2002

Although not certain, I believe the two problems are related and actually are describing the same problem - the fact that the program is not fully updated.

Check out the following article: Service packs, updates, and security patches may require the Office XP CD-ROM. More information is here: Download details: Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3).

But perhaps of greater importance, Word 2002 is not compatible with Vista: Windows Vista Compatibility Microsoft Microsoft Office Word 2002 and that may be part of the reason you are having troubles with it. You need to upgrade to a more recent version.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Strange problem this, something I haven't come up against before. If I open up a new document in word when I hit carriage return the curser drops to the bottom of the page for the next line of text. If I type another line of text the previous line moves up a little, so if I carry on typing to fill a whole page eventually the lines move up, or the spaces between line becomes smaller, and the page is full. This makes typing difficult, I have checked all settings in word and have even deleted it and re-installed it but to no avail.
Word worked fine for over 12 months and then suddenly started playing up, if I open a previously saved document the spacing is OK, its just a new document. I have deleted the normal.dot template to try and fix it, other word processing packages seem to be OK, eg, wordpad, works etc.
The pc has been scanned for virus's with AVG 7 and for spyware with Ad-aware and Spybot.
Has anyone any suggestions as to whats going on here?

I use a custom label for printing labels 2 x 4 in a particular way, which I used in Word 97 and when I upgraded to Word 2002 (still using W98) it still worked. I recently had a complete crash and W98 had to be reinstalled. When I reinstalled Word 2002 I redid the labels with exactly the same configuration (which I had recorded elsewhere), but the labels only print on the bottom half of the page, i.e. 2 x 2, and not in the correct positions. The bizarre thing is that I reloaded Word 97 and the labels work OK with exactly the same configuration. I now have both versions of Word installed, which is not satisfactory, using Word 97 for labels. Word 2002, with the same configuration, still only prints half a page. Can any one explain this oddity, and, better still, think of a cure?

Perhaps this is linked to the printer driver assigned. Verify that both versions of Word are using the same driver with the exact same settings

I recently had to do a System Restore for Windows XP. Successfully installed from 12 disks and then installed MS Works Suite 2006, which includes Word 2002, on the first disk. Every program of the Suite is working, but Word is no where to be found. I've insered that first disk innumerable times, and clicked set-up. The set-up starts, the progress bar runs through once and then the next bar stops about 1/2-inch in and I'm asked to insert the disk -- which is already inserted. That's the case whether I start the computer with the disk in or out.

The drive is working perfectly with other disks, and did the restore job with no problem.

Hi, I have a rather weird problem. I have Windows XP Pro SP2, with Office XP (Word 2002). When I open an existing document by clicking on it in Explorer (i.e. relying on the file association of .DOC files with Word) it opens in Word O.K., but if I try to search for some text (i.e. Edit, Find), as soon as I click on Find it freezes - the coloured bar at the top (i.e. where it says the document name) flashes, as does the entry on the bottom bar (i.e. in the same row as the start button, where it shows all the running programs - sorry, I don't know the correct Windows terms for these!), and the only way to get out of it is Ctrl-alt-del, End Task.

However, if I start Word with Start, Programs etc, and then manually open the same document (File, Open), I can now use Edit, Find (??). This seems to happen with all documents.

Sometimes (but not always) Word also freezes if I try to copy/paste text from Internet Explorer, and again I have to use End Task. I always seem to be able to copy/paste screen prints (i.e. Alt-PrntScrn, Paste).

It's a fairly new laptop with 100GB hard disk (about 65GB free) and 1GB memory, so disk space/memory isn't a problem. AVG free edition, Spybot and Ad-aware all report no problems. I use Zonealarm firewall.

I thought I'd try to install Office XP SP3 to see if it helped, but that failed with Error 1328, which from a Google search I have found is a fairly common occurrence. I then tried SP1, with the same result.

Also, I don't think it's possible to change the column from 6.5" to anything else when preset one is selected, but take a look to make sure it's 6.5" in the Columns settings.
Another thing you can try is to activate the Ruler in the View menu and manually move the left margin tick to the right to lesson the margin there.

When I go to run Microsoft Word it always starts with an old document I wrote a couple years ago. How do I fix this so I get the normal blank screen? When I click on new or blank screen the same document pops up.

A:Microsoft Word 2002

In Word, there is a default template that all new documents are based on. In your case it sounds like that template has accidentally been saved when the old document was created.

Easy to fix.
Close Word.
Using Start - Search, look for all occurrences of "normal.dot"

Make sure you have enabled searching of hidden or system files.

If you do not find at least 1 instance of the file, you have not set the options correctly, it will exist.

When you find the file, delete it/them.

When Word next starts it will create a new clean "normal.dot" file with standard default settings.
All you will lose is any specific default settings for Word that you have made, just redo them if you need to.

I have also clicked on more documents in the recovery task pane and deleted it there. When I right click on the saved doc. it says What's this. Please help.

A:Microsoft Word 2002

I have Word 2003 but I assume it's pretty much the same.

That list is populated based on what you see when you click on File in Word which shows the last documents that you opened (Recently used file list). Deleting a document doesn't remove it from the Task pane but you won't be able to access it since it no longer exists. All you need to do is open existing documents until that particular one no longer shows in the list.

If you don't want that many to show you can change it by clicking on Tools - Options - click on the General tab and change the number there.

Hiya

The Microsoft Measurement Converter Smart Tag automatically locates and tags common international units of measurement in a Word 2002 document. Once it locates an international measurement, you can use the smart tag to convert the measurement to a different international unit of measurement. For example, if the smart tag detects "25 Celsius," you can click the smart tag to convert it to "77 Fahrenheit." You can also add new units of measurement and edit conversion rules.

I have a problem with Word 2002 (10.2627.2625) on a computer running Win XP/Pro SP2 (Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254 : Service Pack 2))

The problem is a Table of Contents (TOC) anomaly. Two of the entries in the TOC are long enough to require two lines—both in the document and in the TOC. When I insert the TOC (using the default formatting), the first of the two TOC entries with the long headers wraps to a second line, but the leader is missing and the page number is not in the correct position. However, the second of the TOC entries with the long header is formatted correctly.

Visualize it this way:

1.2 Long header number 1 xxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxx 28 (incorrect)

1.3 Long header number 2 xxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxx…………………………………….29 (correct)

I have tried varying the formatting, primarily the Tabs settings, but all changes I enter make the situation worse.

I searched this forum and I found a posting going back to April 2003 with possibly a similar problem. However, that problem, apparently, applied to all TOC entries, even with just a few words in the entry.

Anne Troy suggested that the default TOC styles might be bad. If that were true in my case, I would expect either both long entries or all entries to be incorrectly formatted. In this case, only one entry is incorrectly formatted.

Any suggestions?

BTW, that search led me to http://www.theofficeexperts.com/word.htm, which provided a solution to a footer formatting problem in different document sec... Read more

Hey Guys,

First post here.

I've got a user that's been having problems using MS Word. Whenever he has two or more word documents open, word will crash (eventually) when he switches between them.

I'd like to give more details, but that's pretty much it.

He is using a fresh install of word on a brand new Dell laptop. He also mentioned that the same problem occurred on his deskptop. Could it be related to his network profile? No other users have been reporting this problem.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Martane

I am having problems with Word 2002 hanging when users try to save to a network drive. The PCs are running XP Pro (SP1), Office XP Pro (SP3). It's a Netware 6 server with ZenWorks 4 for Desktops installed. Users are Dynamic Local Users with Administrative rights on the local machine. They have a root drive mapping to H: which is their home directory on the server, which they have full rights to.

I am using Word 2002 (v10.2627.2625, new installation, not upgrade) running under Win XP. Word worked fine for several months until recently when the following problem occurs: I am typing a letter when a window appears entitled "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library". Inside the window is the text "Runtime Error! Program C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 10\winword.exe abnormal program termination." The only option given is to click "OK", after which doing so, the program is terminated. When restarting Word, the file I was working on is listed in a pane on the left side of the window. When I click on the file to open it, the same window and error message appears and again, the only option is to click "OK" and watch the program terminate.

I am baffled by this problem, because I am not (knowingly) running MS Visual C++. I am simply typing text into a simple word document when the problem occurs. In most cases, I have not even been typing when the error comes up, but just pondering what to type next. The only other program running in the background has been Outlook Express and Norton AntiVirus.

Thanks very much for any help you might be able to offer.

What are the main differences between Word 2000 & 2002, and should I upgrade to the newer version?

A:Word 2000 vs. 2002

If you use the mail merge helper to create a mail merge, the default data source is an Access database.

It has what's called a task pane on the right (or left, I presume) to give you certain options when you're doing certain tasks, like mail merge, tracked changes, and such.

It has the Windows in taskbar on/off option like Excel 2000 has but Word 2000 doesn't.

Would I pay for it? No way.

And I am . . .

I found an earlier thread, dated 12-Nov-2006, 06:03 that has been closed, that asked about the same problem I have.

"I have a problem in that Word won't remember any changes to the setting I make to normal.dot If I change the font, layout etc it will remember those changes for any new documents I want to create whilst word remains open, but if I close and re-open the word application all the changes I have made, and applied as default, are lost?"

I tried the suggestions, it didn't solve the problem. Also I can't save macros.

Can anyone help? Thanks!!!
