Microsoft Word Calendar Wizard VB? error.

Q: Microsoft Word Calendar Wizard VB? error.

Hello,

We are running all our computers here on Win2k with all the latest updates. We run Office 2000. After upgrading a few systems to Visio 2003, we noticed that the calendar wizard (and other wizards) stopped functioning. If I try to create a document from a wizard or open the visual basic editor, I get two errors.

VB6EXT.OLB Could not be Loaded.

followed by

Unexpected error 50001
I searched for this error and found that it is just a general VB error.

It seems to work fine however if we give the user administrative rights on their local machine, but of course this is not a long term solution as we do not want everyone to have admin on their machine.

I searched around on google and haven't found anything that would help. I think the issue lies in upgrading the systems to visio 2003, but I have a couple machines that upgraded no problem and it works fine.

I tried doing a detect and repair and a reinstall of both office 2000 and visio on the affected machines and they have yielded no results.
Any help at this point would be greatly appricated.

Hi-
I'm trying to use the file transfer wizard that was pre-installed on my new Dell Dimensions E510 computer (to transfer files from old computer to new). It prompts me that I will also need to run the program on the old computer, either by creating a wizard disc or using the Windows XP disc (which I don't have b/c it was pre-installed). It says to create a discby inserting a blank, formatted disc into the new computer's disc drive. It then gives 4 options to choose from, however the option I want, to create a wizard disc in the following drive, is not highlighted. It won't allow me to burn another disc apparently, I can only choose I already have a windows disc, I will use the Windows XP cd, or I don't need a disc at all. WHY?! I already bought a usb/serial transfer cable to do this and I'm not sure why the software won't allow me to burn a disc. Any suggestions?!
Thanks Much!!

I recently purchased a refurbished dell desktop with windows 7. Everything worked well after I set it up. However, the next day I turned it on and the Microsoft Security Essential Welcome window opened saying "Microsoft Security Essentials has already been installed on your computer, but hasn't been initialized. To initialize the program and make sure it's helping to protect your computer, click "next."

Upon clicking "next" the MSE license terms window opened. There was an "accept" and a "cancel" button. However, the area for the agreement was completely blank. I clicked the "accept" button and another window opened saying "Microsoft Security Essentials Setup error." Can't complete the Microsoft Security Essentials Setup Wizard. My son says you are the best for troubleshooting, so here goes. I have a Toshiba laptop wireless and all the programs came pre-installed with a Recovery disk ONLY included. I have Windows XP Home Edition. My problem is with the Microsoft Works 8.0 Calendar, which was pre-installed along with Microsoft Office S&T Edition, which I do not use. The Calendar was working fine until yesterday and now I get an error message that just says "Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to close." Then I can choose whether or not to send an error report, which I have....several times. I've read the "official" Microsoft version of the fix, but it is telling me that I possibly have a corrupted file and to reinstall it from the Works CD, which I do not have. When I run the recovery CD, there is no Microsoft Works listed in programs to recover. I'm really at a loss! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!! MomM

Hi guys, first off I haven't been here for help in years literally this was the first place I thought of because a few years ago many generous people helped me solve my problem, this place is awesome. Please pardon me as I am only decently literate with computers but try my best.

Ok I am trying to solve an annoying problem for my parent's computer. My dad was typing a normal document in Microsoft Word (OS is XP with System Pack 2, and it is Word 2002) and he said that just yesterday for the first time, after typing for maybe a half hour, a window would pop up with a "runtime error" and it would freeze untill he clicked ok on it, and it would then shut down loosing all his work that he didn't save.

So I got on the computer and opened Microsoft Word, and was able to duplicate the problem time after time but not every single time. When I simply open word, then click to close Word, the box appears, and he verified it is the same box he saw. It says exactly as follows, no more, no less, and every time reads the same -

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program:C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 10\WINWORD.EXE
abnormal program termination

So I tried to research it, and came across a fix on Microsoft's support site saying remove something called COM Add-ins. I did so by following each step removing the one COM add in i found, and it did not resolve the problem at all. It still errors out. SO I grabbed the master disk and un... Read more

Click Start, Default Programs (assuming you're using Win 7), "Associate a file type or protocol with a program". It will take a few seconds to load the list of extensions on your computer. Scroll to the ".docx" extension and click it (once). Click the "Change Program" button. If it lists Microsoft Word, pick it. If it doesn't, click the "Browse" button, then click your C: drive, Programs (x86), Microsoft Office, Office14 folder (don't ask why it's called "Office14"; makes no sense). In the right pane, find the file "WINWORD.exe" and double-click it. This will establish the associating between .docx files and Word.

I recently formatted a laptop of mine. Before I formatted I made backups of some of my more important files: pictures, music, documents, etc... One of the documents was a 7page english assignment I have due in two days. Every file copied correctly on to the backup CD except for this one word document (which happened to be my homework). I cannot open it in Word, notepad, or Wordpad. I cannot copy the file onto the harddrive, nor can I send the file via messenger programs (AIM). I have been using MS Word for 5 years without any problems. It has now developed an issue which I would like to resolve. When I start Word, it initiates and then displays a message "Microsoft Word has not been installed for the current user". It then terminates. If I start Word again, it starts normally and works normally.

However, this message is a concern because I don't know if something more serious is about to happen. It would be catestrophic if I could not access Word as all my documents are written in the Word format.

Anyone seen this before?

Original Thread....

I'm not sure if this is where I should post this.....

I keep trying to open a document in Microsoft word and it says "There is not enough memory or disk space to complete the operation". I've deleted a bunch of photos and old files that I no longer use, restarted, and it's still happening.

I also have 13 little icons on the bottom right of my task bar on Windows....is that normal?? I don't even know what half of them are and why they are there! They are java update available; updates are ready for your computer (which i'm scared to click on because of my last experience clicking on something like that); HP digital imaging monitor??; bluetooth; ati; local area connection (has an 'x' through it); superantispyware; avg; realtek hd audio manager; epower management; volume; and symaptics pointing device.

Any help would be great...I have a lot of work to do and I can't do it if these files won't open!

hi, this is my first post on here!!!!

PROBLEM = I downloaded & installed trial version of microsoft word 2007. Then uninstalled it a couple of days later. tried to open microsoft word xp edition. it wouldn't open & asked if i wanted to repair it? I said yes then received the error message
"microsoft Word cannot install necessary files due to Windows Installer error 1635. This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists & that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package"
so I tried Microsoft for help & they asked me for £46 to send them an email.

So basically I tried Word 2007, uninstalled it & it has wrecked word xp edition...can't open any documents!!
Also everytime we open up the internet or open a 'window' a
'Windows Installer' rectagle appears & waits for about 1 or 2 minutes before opening the web browser page or other window!

btw have tried the microsoft installer cleanup facility & it can't/doesn't help

Help, Help, Help......

tried system restore & even took it to PC world for a health check...didn't fix the problem or even mention it but did remove some viruses & stuff

please please......help......

Hey, when I start up word I get this error:
"Microsoft Office Word can't translate this document.
Microsoft Office Word cannot install the necessary files due to Windows Installer error 6.
The Handle is invalid."

Then when I click OK, I get one about Displaying Help and then 20 more about "checking the spelling and grammar".
So basically, I can't use word without having to close error boxes every few seconds, and without help, spell-checking, or translation.
Google doesn't seem to have the answer..

This also happens with excel, except that there's only one error box talking about speech recognition. Publisher tells me off for the same thing, and then spams the screen with a bunch error boxes about a wizard.

do any of you guys know how to fix this? :)

Hello my first time using this forum and I don't know if I can raise a similar problem using your thread.

But I would be interested to find a solution to this as well since I have a similar problem in that when I try to print a word doc I get the same error message up. However when I close it I can carry on printing. The problem only occurs after my pc has been on for a while.

I know when the problem is going to start because when I try to logon to my hotmail account and it says cannot find page. The other sympton I get is not being able to start up Smart FTP. This is when I start getting the Word Doc error.

Operating System: Windows 98

When attempting to save a document using the "Save" or "Save As" command under "File" I receive the following error on 3 of our company computers:

The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your macro security settings.

I've tried High, Medium, and Low macro security settings (currently on Low), but none of these resolve the issue. I've run a repair and completely uninstalled, run a registry cleaner, and reinstalled the application with the same error. The only way I've ever been able to get rid of this error is with a complete reinstallation of the OS and all apps. More often than not it eventually reappears.

Is there anyone that can help with this issue...? Thanks...

A:Microsoft Word Macro Error

Somebody's got a macro in their normal.dot file most likely. Try renaming normal.dot on one of the PCs. If it works, do it on the other two.

To rename normal.dot follow the directions in Step 3 of Word troubleshooting at:
www.theofficeexperts.com/word.htm

That's the funny part, Dave. normal.dot is NOT replaced on a reinstall!

Are you on a network? What operating system are you using? What version of Word are you using? How were you trying to open the files -- double-clicking? right-clicking and selecting Open? starting Word and using the File Open dialog box?

Start Word and create a small file. Save it to your desktop. Close Word. Try to open the file you just created. Try using all of the above methods. Does it work with any of them?

most USB sticks use the FAT file system and so there shouldn't be any file permission issues. Check your USB stick for errors.

Hi there,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me or shed some light on a repeated Microsoft Word error that I have received, following which I have lost some documents.  I have had some documents in my 'My Documents' folder for years (things like a journal that are ongoing, which I have worked on daily or weekly for years and have just saved as I have gone along).  A few weeks ago I was working on one of these and when I went to save I received a message that said "Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error', and then 'Word failed reading from this file.  Please restore the network connection or replace the floppy disk and retry", then "Word has lost data due to a bad network connection or missing floppy' (please note I was not using a floppy disk).  Then my file completely disappeared.  I could not find it anywhere.  Luckily I had most of this backed up on a USB stick, but I was still really concerned.  Today this has happened again with another document.  I'm really worried - does anyone have any initial thoughts on what could be going on?  Please just ask if you have any questions or need additional information.

Thanks very much in advance!

Does anyone noe weather vista Microsoft word support the old formated ones? Or is there any plug-in needed to support?

A:Does Vista Microsoft Word Support Old Format Microsoft Word?

I'm assuming you're talking about the new office 2007? meaning word 2007?

If that is the case, then yes it does run older versions of word. In the sense that if you have a word document that was made and saved in Word 2003 it would work in 2007.

Just like when you make something in word 2007 you are able to save it as a Word 03-07 document so it works on both versions of Microsoft Word.

I have created in Microsoft Word 2003 on an XP OS some lengthy documents. I created them using a view setting of 150%.

I sent them to my employer, who is using Windows 98 and Microsoft Word 97. My boss opened them with his system and they displayed on the screen at a view of 200%. He wants me to send him Word documents that he can open from the CD-R that I send that will automatically display at 100% view on the screen so that he does not have to set the view for each document as it displays.

So what is the answer.

Is there a way that I can save my created documents so that when my boss gets them on a CD-R that they will open on his system at a view setting of 100%.

Is there also a way that his system can be set to default to 100% in reading from the CD-R.

My boss does not want to copy the documents to the system hard disk from my sent CD-R, preferring to read and copy directly from the CD-R that I send, so that the original documents will not accidentally be changed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey TSG,

I use Microsoft Office 2010 and am receiving the error message "There was a problem sending the command to the program" whenever I open a Word document from My Documents. [see screenshot]

This error message does not pop up though if I open the file from within Word.

All documents being tested are .docx file types saved using Word 2010.

After Xing off the message or clicking "OK", Word is fully functional.

I'm at college and the installation disks are back home, so there's no hope for re-installation being my fix anytime soon (unless I go home this weekend).

Any ideas?

A:Error Message while running Microsoft Word and Works

First, are you running Word or Works when you get this message. I mean, do you get into Works at all or you get into Works, choose the Word processor and that's when you get the error...

If you like, you can try the "global" fix. Go to www.piersontech.com/07-CleanHardDrive.htm
and follow the instructions to clean up your hard drive. And then, of course, if that doesn't work, come on back in here and let us know what version of works you're using. If you can't figure out how to tell, find the file called msworks.exe on your hard drive, right-click the file name and hit Properties. The version is under there.

Hi all,

I'm using Windows Vista and am suddenly unable to open any of my Microsoft Word 2007 documents. (Which means I can't recover my CV for this upcoming job )

When I try I get the following error message -
"C:\Programs Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\oart.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support."

On Googling the error message I saw that file was a security risk and followed the instruction in the topic, which was to open appwiz.cpl and then repair Microsoft Office 2007. But that didn't work, and I got the error message of - "Error 1310 C:config.msi\1151431.rbf Verify access". I received the same error message when I tried to uninstall, so I was unable to uninstall and reinstall the program.
Thanks in advance for any help, HeadDesk.

And rename it normal.bak

Then reopen Word and see if the problem still occurs. If it does you probably need to do a repair or reinstall of the parent program Microsoft Works.

Hello,

I am really confused and frustrated. Just finished spending the last 8 hours writing a research paper. It's about 7 pages, and I went to click save as, decided the name, and then said ok...and now my microsoft word window says not responding. I checked the folder where I saved the document, and it has a document by that name, but it's 0 KB big and when you double click on it it's an empty word document. Omg, I can't have just wasted 8 hours of writing. I'm afraid to force the program to quit because then I'll lose everything for sure. I used the vista snipping tool to take a snapshot of the part of the page that is showing, but I can't get it to unfreeze...has anyone had this problem, and is there a way to unfreeze it so I can at least copy out the text?

OMG I'm dying. help.

I've got a template in my Word documents that I reuse often and today when I was entering new information there were several error notices (that little gray box) "Microsoft noticed an error and must close" and even though I re- opened and I saved it - now when I open the document the font is completely different (HUGE) and it won't allow me to change it. Before I create a new document and copy and paste it correcting the size difference to the new one is their way to bring the document back to the way it was before?
Thanks!

Sorry - it seems that the error that was caused by Microsoft closing only affected the document when I accessed it through "start". When I opened My Documents - it opened the correct version. Sorry I didn't check that before posting!

Now, when i make any changes this document just closes, this has been tried and same phenomenon occurs on 3 other computers, so it must be something with the file? Any idea would be appreciated.

Some interesting characteristics:
when change is made word shuts down.
but when you use auto recover and word opens back up, the change that caused word to close is actually made.

A:Microsoft Word 2003 closes in error when I make a change with track changes

I'm trying to print a document from Microsoft Word 2003 to a network printer.
When I select print I get an error message with the following text.
A microsoft word error 7, "The RPC server is unavailable" has occurred. When
I close the error box I get another error that immediately follows.
A microsoft word error 10, "There is a printer error" has occurred.
Have tried to troubleshoot the problem by re-installing the printer and this
does not help. Have even re-installed Microsoft Office 2003 and this has not
stopped the problem either. I have 12 workstations on a Windows 2003 server
and only 3 of my workstations are having this problem. All workstations are
running Windows XP professional sp2 and print just fine from all of my other server
applications. I have scanned all systems for malware and they are all clean.
I don't know what else to try and hope someone has seen this problem and may
have solution.

A:Solved: A microsoft word error 7 message occurs when users try to print

It could be caused by the Print Spooler service being stopped - that would explain the second error, which is an out-of-memory error. If that fails, make sure you have the latest printer driver - and the one you have may be corrupt.
If all this fails, try installing the printer again, but use the IP address of it, rather than having Windows auto-search for it. Another meaning of this error is that the PCs are unable to recognize one another.

alright my problem is that i have already used microsoft word 2000 for awhile now and its been fine, no problems whatsoever then about week ago it started doing a lot of crazy stuff when i opened it. this happens every single time. i open it and it states that
it is preparing to install microsoft word 2000 (i already have it installed) then it states that it must gather the required information. At first i thought it was an update so i decided to let it continue. when it was finished it said that "the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not availible. please insert the microsoft word 2000 disk and hit ok" alright the thing was it wasn't an update. and i couldn't find my word CD because it hasn't asked for one ever since i installed it. I then hit cancel and everything went away and about a minute later my microsoft word 2000 came up and it had no updates and was functioning fine but it was going about half the speed it usually does. Other than that there were no other problems and i continued with my work. The only thing that really bugs me is that this entire process takes about 5 minutes every time I start up... so its kinda of a pain... is there any way to get rid of this? thx to all... Peace Out

I have just, with difficulty, abstained from taking an axe to my nearly new $800 Win 8 laptop.

Having installed (and paid for) Office 365, I had some address labels to print, so downloaded and installed the Avery Wizard, something I have used for years in earlier versions of Word.  Having carefully given my location as the USA, the download turned out to be the Australian version, something I did not discover until I had installed it and tried to use it.  I then found a list of totally unfamiliar template names, and totally unfamiliar dimensions.  Having lived metric for most of my life, I am not daunted by millimeters etc., but 38 millimeters (OK, millmetres for the Aussies and Brits here) is not the same as one inch!  (US Bureau of Standards defines one inch as 25.4 mm, so the U.S. has actually been metric for several decades now, though most Americans would drop dead if they realized it )..

So the labels I printed were complete garbage.  Waste of a sheet of Avery labels.  No matter.  So I went back online and downloaded the U.S. version of the Wizard, and installed that over the top of the already installed one.  It duly told me it was upgrading the existing installation, and I thought Hooray, this is going to work (the U.S. Wizard file is more than four times the size of the Australian one, so something fishy there, and I don't mean barramundi or Murray River cod <G>)   Alas, when I opened the Wizard again i... This morning I uninstalled the Avery program, and then reinstalled it from the U.S. install file.  Now all I get is an Avery "app" from the store, no choice of templates and no "Avery Wizard" button on the Word home screen.  There are some templates, but I think only the ones I downloaded yesterday before I tried downloading the Avery Wizard.  Still can't get what I want, which at this moment is a plain blank 5160 template with empty cells, no fancy decorations or other crap.  Since I print a few labels at a time, thus running the sheet through the printer several times, the cells I'm not using at the moment have to be empty.  That has never been a problem before - I've been doing it for years.  Pick the template I want off the menu, pick a blank copy of it, and go ahead.  Now I can't do that.  Very frustrating.

The calendar pages come out printed on 2 pages rather than

one page. The columns are elongated causing this to happen.

Have checked the printer with other programs and the printing

is correct.

A:Microsoft Works Calendar

This should do it.
Open the calender, from the file menu select "export > HTML". Remember where you saved it to. Close the calender and go to the file you exported and double click it. It should open in Internet Explorer. Now select print from the file menu.

Boy it would be nice to use the calendar app with with my google calendar or even be able to tie it to my exchange calender here at work.

Just some random thoughts. Sorry if the subject has been touched on before.

A:Microsoft needs to open up the calendar app

Same with the people app (though /some/ of that is promised).

Unfortunately, companies being companies, they only cooperate sparingly and over all, complete interaction between all major internet "cloud" service providers it not something that's going to happen in any large way.

But your right, My cloud storage app, email app, people app, calendar app etc should all be cross platform and cross service. Picking the best one in each location but access to the sum total of all my data no matter where it's stored.

Usually you need to look at third party developers for that (i.e. trillian etc) but even then service and features are always spotty/incomplete , largely due to the service providers needing you to be using /thier/ clients which support /their/ ads.

I am using Windows XP and Microsoft Works Suite 2003. I have been using the Microsoft Works Calendar for home use, printing the monthly calendar in landscape format on my Canon i960 printer. This produces a 9"-6" one-month calendar.

Recently, the calendar started printing out only 7"-4" in landscape format. I have tried everything to correct this and cannot. Any other printing in other programs is normal so I do not think it is a printer problem. However, I cannot find the controls in the Calendar to restore the 9"-6" size. Any suggestions?

I have been using microsoftworks calendar (Windows XP) and on opening I have the month landscape view. I think I must have clicked on something I shouldn't have because now although it shows the current month it has also included three date syle months on the left hand side. This means that I cannont see sunday and cannot easily move to the next month, any ideas on how to remove the date/months and hopefuly this will restore the full month view. Strangely, when I print the date months are at the top and all days of the month print fine.

Last year I puchased a new computer with Windows XP. Most of the files were retrieved from the old C drive and installed on my new computer. I have been using Microsoft Works Calendar for many years, and rely on it for reminders to pop up. I recently had the business where I purchased the computer look at it because of a start up problem. Since then, it seems the reminders do not pop up for the specified time I want them to any longer, i.e., a meeting 3 days from now and a reminder would be put into the window and then click on OK. In the past, I've never had a problem with getting the reminders until recently. Do you have any suggestions? Barbara

I have a Dell Inspiron 2650, Windows XP Home Edition, Internet Explorer 7, Microsoft Works version 6

I can not print my calendar in Microsoft Works Calendar.

I have uninstalled and installed again. Still does not print.
When I hit print and a box pops up that states: Please wait while the calendar prepares to print. That is as far as it will go. You can let it stay there for hours and it is still preparing to print.
Printer works fine in other programs.

What is the problem

I am working in Microsoft Works 8.5 and having problems with the calendar and address book. I have entered info. in the contacts in address book. When opening calendar, the birthdays, anniversaries, etc. are not correct. Calendar asks me if I want to correct, so I clicked yes. I then selected the correct date (from address book) and clicked "update now." When that is complete, I looked at the calendar for the correct day, and there was a different person's name listed on the day. Can anyone help? So frustrating. Thanks!

I run Works Plus 2008 on Vista 64 bit and a problem has developed. My calendar alerts no longer automatically open when they are due to open. I have to open Works before any alerts will open.

Does anyone have a fix for me? Please keep your instructions very simple as I consider myself to be a Beginner-Intermediate user.

Thank you!!

Microsoft Calendar, the one included with Microsoft Works, will not print. There is no error message. It simply does nothing after the print button is clicked. I have no idea what is wrong. I am unsure if it is something with MS Calendar or the printer.

I am using Widnows XP Home version on a dell machine. Any help or suggestions especially on how to determine where the problem is would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you very much.

A:Microsoft Calendar Won't Print

Hi,

Although I don't use this software, that does seem a bit strange. You don't even see anything going to the print que? How is your printer setup? Does it send data straight to the que? You should be able to find out if you go to your printer, right click and go to Properties.

I would also double check all your drivers, and possibly reinstall them. (Is this by any chance an HP?)

I am using Microsoft Works v.7 calendar purely to get the reminders for appointments, actions, etc. Now the reminders do not automatically appear unless I open the calendar - for several years this was not the case and I have missed two appointments as a result and am in trouble with my dentist. I have re-installed Works 7 without any benefit. What can I do?

A:Microsoft Calendar Reminders

have you tried run/msconfig/startup tick box for microsoft calender reminders,
or you might have to reinstall works v 7

I have Windows XP home edition, service pack 2. I just recently upgraded internet explorer to 7.0. I can no longer print from Microsoft Works 7.0 Calendar. I know there were printing problems with older versions of IE and MS Works Calendar 6.0. Anyone know of a fix besides rolling back IE?

My outlook calendar is replicating meetings on it's own! I go in and delete them but they just keep coming back. What would cause this program to randomly pick a meeting and then enter it in over 50 times and how can I stop this?

it appears the wizard will detect that office 2007 and 2010 was installed even no not now; therefore it is necessary to let it configuration with the msg for 2010 and then complete the install and then after finish load the office 2003 word or access and the wizard will be accessible...

Is there anything in this fully updated version of Office 2000 that prevents Avery Wizard from installing? I get about 1/3 of the way through install and then get a general location error and install quits. Any ideas? I've thought of uninstalling Office, reinstalling in original form, then installing Wizard...then all updates. Thought someone might have a less onerous solution.

In Word Perfect 11 when I click on the WP template to create a new Monthly Calendar the one that opens is always January 2001. HOW do I change the year so the dates are in the correct place? I used to be able to do that upon opening the template (in version 8) but now it automatically opens the wrong year. There is NOTHING in the Help menu about calendars by the way.
Thanks. SARA please feel free to email me directly if you prefer.
