HELP! - Error 1304

Q: HELP! - Error 1304

For some reason unbeknown to be, my Microsoft Office Standard for Students and Teachers version 2002 has suddenly stopped working. If I attempt to open any of the programs (MSWord, PowerPoint, etc.) I am taken to Windows Installer which tries to 'configure installation' as if MSOffice wasn't installed. However, it still shows up in Add or Remove Programs, and if, using the cd-rom, I try and repair or reinstall Office, I receive the following error:

Error 1304. Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\1033\USPANNTN.XML.
Verify that you have access to that directory. Retry, Cancel.

As you've probably guessed, retry doesn't work.

I've tried system restore several times (including to the last date I successfully ran Microsoft Word) but I still am taken immediately to the Installation Configuration. I don't know what's wrong! Please help!

Trying to install MS Office 2010 from network folder and keep getting an Error 1304. Not installing from CD, I am an administrator. Ran all updates, ccleaner, check disk. Still getting the error. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this so I can complete the install?

A:Solved: Error 1304

Instead of trying to install directly over the network I would try copying the entire installation directory to your local PC and try installing from there. After copying the files try right-clicking the setup exe and choose the option to "Run as Admin" to see if that helps. If that doesn't work I'd verify the path that the program is trying to install to and make sure that you have the ability to access and modify/create files in that directory.

I've got a Gateway Notebook, MX7515, less than one year old, with Windows XP Home Edition.

When trying to load Quickbooks, I get about 80% in and then:
Error 1304: error writing to file
"Intuit.Spc.Map.EntitlementClient.Api.dll"Click to expand...

with options of "Retry" or "Cancel"

upon "Retry" I get:
Internal Error 2350Click to expand...

I have been on the phone for HOURS with Quickbooks, and now Gateway as well,... no luck. I've searched the net and found a few people with the SAME problem, but no posted solutions?

I am running chkdsk now.

I have tried copying the program to the hard drive and installing from there, SAME error.

I've tried turning on the "Windows Installer" on the Service Tab of the Utilities menue, per instructions from Quickbooks (in the Philipines).

Does ANYONE please know how to solve this problem or WHAT part of my notebook to threaten with a gun to fix this!!!?

...SAME exact thing happens when trying to install my HP 3210 All-In-One scanner. Ugh!

Thanks,
J

check this out from the gateway site.

it isn't a quickbooks problem, but perhaps the laptop had Win 98 and was upgraded to XP instead of the full XP install? That might explain what you will read in the thread.

Just as the title says... whenever I attempt to install the .net 2.0 framework x64 onto my fresh install of Windows XP x64, I receive the error message: Error 1304. Error writing to file C:\Windows\winsxs\Manifests\amd64_Microsoft.VC80.CRT... Verify that you have acces to that directory.

And what is odd is that other programs do the same thing, i.e. Unreal Tournament 3. pfft.

Also, I am the Administrator/only user on said PC.

Any tid bits of advice to resolve this problem would be /greatly/ appreciated.

Cheers,

Yeah, that pretty much says it all. I am trying to install something, and am getting Error 1304 (which is an error when you have to be on the administrator's account in order to install it), but I am on the admin. account, the only account on this computer. What does this mean? Trojan?

I had to perform a recovery on my Windows XP system. I am trying to reinstall QuickBooks 2009 Not for Profit software. I have been researching and working on this for hours and I keep getting the same error 1304 error writing to file "intuit.QuickBooks.fcs.exe. When I press "retry" I get error 2350 server error, then finally error 1334 intuit QuickBooks fcs exe can not be installed.

QuickBooks worked fine on the computer before the recovery process.

Since my computer is fairly old (2002ish), I reinstalled all the Microsoft XP updates, up to and including Service Pack 3. I also installed the update to the Microsoft .net framework 2.0 file.

In my research I've found the others that have had this problem and the techs suggested repairing the Microsoft .net framework 2.0, which I've done. There have been some suggestions about uninstalling then reinstalling the .net file, but I am really uncomfortable doing that -

The software vendor sent me an e-mail indicating that all the files need to be uninstalled even if the computer crashed in order for the new installation to happen.

The suggestion was also made on a thread to update the windows installer. I tried to do that, but the program told me that it was unnecessary to do so since I installed service pack 3.

Also, when I being the QuickBooks InstallShield Wizard, I get a message from the overwrite protection indicating that "the following file is already on your computer: c:\Docume~1\HP_Admn~1.... Read more

A:Error 1304 QuickBooks reinstallation Help, please!

Also, since I last posted, I cleared out the Windows temporary files. No luck.

I am trying to install WinZip but get the following error every time:

Error 1304. Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\WinZip\WINZIP32.EXE.
Verify that you have access to that directory.

I'm the only user of my machine and my account has administrator privileges. This is the first time I have come across such a problem so I have no idea how to solve it.

I'm wondering whether it may be due to one of my security programs? I have the following installed:
AVG Internet Security v8.0 Professional
PC Tools ThreatFire
Webroot SpySweeper
SpywareBlaster
Spybot Search & Destroy

Any suggestions would be most appreciated please.

I have a Dell Dimension 310 with Windows XP Professional and Office XP. The other day, while trying to open MS Outlook (my e-mail) a dialogue box, referring to some a file in Windows, came up on the screen and didn't let me open Outlook. I didn't write the error message down and cannot duplicate it anymore.

I have tried a few things including System Restore (Systems Tools) but it didn't help.

I un-installed Office, thinking that when I re-install Office the problem would go away. However, I cannot install Office anymore. Now I'm getting another message "Error 1304. Error writing to file c:\windows\fonts\outlook.TTF. Verify that you have access to that directory."

I have no idea what the message means or how to handle it. I called Dell support and after 2 hours they concluded that the only way to resolve this issue is by reformatting my hard drive. I didn't accept it.

Does anybody know how to fix this issue?

Previously I had Adobe Reader 8.0.1 installed on my system, Windows XP Media Center but because of problems with my system the software would not function and had to be removed.

Now that I am trying to reinstall it I am having a problem which I seem unable to solve.

I am the only user listed on the system, yet when I try to install the software I get an error message which reads:

Error 1304: Error writing to file, C:\ProgramFiles\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\pdfshell.dll.
Verify that you have access to that directory.

Can someone clue me in on how to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

I am trying to sort out a friend's XP machine which keeps getting the Error 1304 unable to install.. All the research on Google and these forums suggest you need to adjust the "supplemental cache size" and "optimise access pattern" within performance in System.

Despite following all the guides, I cannot find this under Windows XP and wonder if these are Windows9X instructions. If so is there an XP equivalent of this or an alternative to solve the problem.

Thanks

Hi there,

I've been having problems since yesterday with this. At first I couldn't open Outlook 2007. I was always getting the attached error message. As part of my attempts to fix the problem, I uninstalled Office (including Outlook 2007) and reinstalled Office completely. That's when the worst happened... I am now unable to install Office 2007.

Here are my system information, if you need more, please ask and I'll provide the information:

Win XP SP3
Microsoft Office 2007
Dell Laptop Inspiron 6400

It started after I used automatic update yesterday. It found 1 update and as usual I asked to install it without giving it to much thought... Then, Outlook 2007 stopped working (there a setup window that attempts to "finalize" the installation but it fails each time). I have attached a screenshot. Oh, by the way, I tried rolling back to a previous restore point 2 days ago, to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks.

I had a very bizarre problem today. I downloaded about 50 .mpg files and put them into a folder on my desktop. I opened one of them, and it worked fine, but after that every time I even opened the folder that the files were in, only half of the thumbnails would appear and then it would tell me that I had a Visual C++ Runtime Error, from explorer.exe aborting. At the same time as this, windows would pop up a little message saying that my virtual memory was low. Later, it popped up a message saying that my Media Player needed to be reinstalled and that my Norton Antivirus needed to be reinstalled. Then it disabled my Norton Firewall and my Norton Antivirus. Lastly, I started getting error messages telling me that my soundcard needed to be configured to handle voice files, by enabling hardware acceleration. The only problem with that was that Windows would not let me access the advanced sound settings!

I am running Windows XP (all patches up to date), 256 MB Ram, 75 Gig HD - so I figured the "low" virtual memory had to be an error. I tried tripling the virual memory to 1GB and also tried letting Windows automatically set the virtual memory size, but neither of these fixed the problem. My immediate thought was that it was a virus or trojan, but Norton VirusScan, Swat-It Trojan Scanner, and System Suite VirusScan all failed to detect anything, and all of them have their definitions up to date.

I ran a Google search to see what other things I should try and none of the... Read more

Are you sure of the spelling of the 2nd file name? If so, Google doesn't give any results for it - which is suspicious. The first file name ( wmiacpi.sys ) is a Windows file that's used to help manage the ACPI settings in your system. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/filedb/wmiacpi.sys-7763.htmlA BSOD error will usually point to the file that the error occured in, but this may not be the source of the error. Ive just bought some new memory (TWIN2X4096-8500C5C G), the new memory doesnt seem to work unless I only add one stick, and even with that I get blue screen errors.

So from reading a few pages on teh internet I put my old memory back in, and ran windows driver verifier. Upon restarting I got and keep getting teh following BSOD.

IO SYSTEM VERIFICATION ERROR in wmiacpi.sys (WDM driver error 20e)

A:Blue Screen IO Error. Verification Error In Wmiacpi.sys (WMD Driver Error 20e)

If the system ran fine...before you added RAM...then you need to see if the new RAM (by itself)...works.The new RAM may not be compatible with your old RAM, in which case the system will run fine with one or the other...but not both. The Driver Verifier tool is tricky to use, I would disregard that effort...for the moment.Remove your old RAM...put the new RAM in...see if the system works properly.FWIW: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/153175/blue-screen-io-error-verification-error-in-wmiacpisys-wmd-driver-error-20e/Louis

Ok mate one thing straight up the Kaspersky only requires a CD you can use a DVD but seriously a waste of useable space. Have been using Kaspersky security and tis rescue disk for years now so just the CD mate.

Just follow the prompts when you run the disk. It will boot (of course) but will not need Windows to do anything.

There are other options -

I have reasons to believe that you have a file infector onboard.
Please visit this website - http://virusscan.jotti.org
Submit the file for a comprehensive scan & then post the results back here.

If it's virut, you need to wipe the machine immediately. Do not connect this machine to another one for you will infect that one too

Just got a new computer and am trying to install my Philips Mini HiFi sytem. Contacted their support centre and they don't know what to do! The stereo system simply plugs into a usb port and plays your audio through their system. The only difference between the system it worked on a few days ago and now is that I am running Windows Professional x64.

The problem:

three things to install:

1. the Philips drivers. Philips support got me to download their drivers for Win XP.

When I install this the error rec'd is: "Install 2.15 setup. While installing drivers Plug and Play error detected. Please reboot and try again". I reboot and try again, same thing.

2. The program "Sound Agent" to run the show. When I install the Sound Agent program, the error rec'd is: "VDI32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close".

3. MusicMatch to channel the audio through to it. (Seems ok but tells me it's out of date - no biggie I can deal with that).

In Device Manager there is "Unknown Device" listed under System Devices shown to be not installed (the yellow exlamation mark through it). When I try to Update Driver it says, "Cannot Install this hardware. The hardware was not installed because the Wizard cannot find the necessary software".

Finally, whenever I reboot I get the error message: "The QVE bus driver is not detected. Reinstall the Qsound Virtual Audio Devices Bus Enumerator driver".

Ok so my first problem was what I thought the sasser worm. I researched it online and I can't find any traces of it anywhere now. I ran a few spyware checkers and stuff and I think I may have messed with some registries.

Now I cannot access the internet and heaps of things are stuffing up. I disconnected my internet and upon startup get this.

A "Data Execution Prevention" window that closes "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services".

I press OK and that goes away. I found some suggestions online but none of them seem to work. That's my first problem.

My computer runs fine until I connect my internet. It runs alright for a minute or two before I get this error.

The instruction at "0x00401000" referenced memory at "0x00401000". The memory could not be "written". Which has recently been appearing at the same time as AVG saying a threat has been detected at "C:\WINDOWS\drivers\atimixx8.sys"

After this has come up I can press OK to terminate the stop error, or cancel to debug. Either one does nothing but stops my internet from working, and the internet on other computers in my house (we are all on a network). When I try to heal/move to vault/delete the AVG threat, it says I don't have permission.

I've thought about just formatting, but I have seen people who say that even with a format, the problem still persists.

Please help!

It is some display/graphics related issue.

Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition.
Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is.
But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver.
Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows.
If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise.
Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Windows 7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Let me start with analysis of this error.
http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.php

If you are getting this error when trying to reinstall from your XP cd, then it sounds like you have a loose damaged or incorrect cable to either your cdrom or hard drive. I suggest replacing them both with quality 80 wire 40 pin IDE cables. It can also be caused by incorrect configuration if you have RAID or SATA drives.
Finally you may want to try with just one stick of RAM installed. If you have more than one now; you should try each in the slot nearest the processor all by itself until you rule out one of them being bad (If it works with one stick and not the other, you know the other is bad).

There is more information on possible causes of this error at ahuma ; but my first suspicion on seeing the image checksum mismatch is that the file in question has been replaced with something else, a trojan or virus.

During Windows backup, which wants to backup the 'C' drive and my games drive 'E' (for some reason), I get the following error message after the 'C' backup has completed but not the 'E':

'The backup operation that started at '‎2015‎-‎12‎-‎20T06:00:25.459859400Z' has failed with following error code '0x8078012D' (The operation failed due to a device error encountered with either the source or the destination. If the source or destination volume is on a disk, run CHKDSK /R on the source or destination volume, and then retry the operation.). Please review the event details for a solution, and then rerun the backup operation once the issue is resolved.'

I ran CHKDSK \R and received several errors of the type: 'A disk read error occurred 0000185. The disk does not have enough space to replace bad clusters detected in file xxxxxx of name xxxxxx.'

My 'E' drive is 2TB with 205GB free. I really don't believe that the cluster(s) in error are bigger than 205G, but what do I know?

Anyone have experience with this problem?

Thanks.

Edit: Think my hard drive may be failing and was the cause of my file synchronizing crash. I use it mostly to stream music and video and access the hard drive a lot. Any advice thanks

HDDStatus - Tool to check hard disk status, health and reliability

Hey,

I've been using GoodSync for the past couple of months to chain synchronize 3 hard disk drives and ran into my first issue today. GoodSync stopped responding whilst synchronizing changes to files so I used task manager to manually end the process.

I'm not entirely sure how much damage has been caused but when I re-analyzed the file changes a lot of the changes prior to the crash was no longer listed.. So I'm unsure of the file integrity but have so far noticed some music video files are corrupt with cyclic redundancy check errors but is not easily visible to check corrupt files because they still play but parts of data are missing.

I think I've experienced cyclic redundancy check errors before when my external hard drive fell flat on it's side whilst it was playing music (3 years ago). It took me a long time to filter out the bad files because all the mp3 files worked but some songs would randomly play in others etc.. is their some type of automated CRC scanner or method to check all my files ?

Thanks

Hi,I have fundamentally the same problem as Laura H from this thread http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic342716.html.I've had problems with these fake antivirus programs before and they really did a number on my laptop. I treated the problem using various tools mostly malware bytes and deleting some suspect files.Been working fine for the most part however today out out of nowhere I was attacked by malware doctor. I deleted the suspect file from the temporary internet files folder and ran malware bytes that detected trojan and deleted. Shortly after drwatson ??? was shut down and some time later I think explorer shut down because my desktop went back to basics....no theme, desktop wallpaper etc. the windows 95 look if you grasp what I'm trying to get at. Hello ,

what you need to do is erase the harddrive then do the reinstall , you can get a free program that you can create a bootable cd to do this with from here

or you can download the tools to do this from the manufacturer of the harddrive

either way you will have to make the bootable cd

make sur you read the instruction on the way to use the program

then start your system then put in the cd / reboot to load the cd and then erase your drive

depending on the size of your dive this can take from 1 to 5 hrs

this will write the drive to zero's and make it as if it never had software install on it ( like new from the factory)

Hi,

Just to confirm for us, install the Visual C++ redist 2005, then VC++ redist 2005 SP1, then VC++ redist 2008, then VC++ redist 2008 SP1. Only restart PC after last one has finished and do them in order, one at a time. This will take quite a long time, let them finish. Then run windows update and select everything, in particular the updates for the VC++ redists (mainly security updates) and restart PC again. Tell us if anything here fails and any error messages you get. Are any of your applications getting side by side configuration errors? Then try your program install again. Hopefully it will now work. Tell us what happens. Will try and post links later as this post sent off iPhone.

Hope this helps, though you may have already done this.

Richard

P.S. You could try sfc /scannow though I really doubt it will help.

I posted this earlier but reposted this and erased the old thread because I have more information now and have narrowed down the problem (I hope).

This problem just happened yesterday after I had to manually shut down (used power button) my computer after it froze. Now when I try to load up IE, it "halfway" opens up (you can see parts of the interface) and just freezes. I thought maybe it was an IE problem, but if I try to load up Firefox (even without loading up IE first), nothing happens -- it won't load. I load up the Task Manager and firefox.exe is there as a process even though it hasn't loaded. The only way I did figure out to surf the net is to load up "My Computer" and enter a web address from there manually. But even when I do that, if I click on any link that opens up a new window, IE will try loading that new window up which freezes. Right after this happened, I get a "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Error" (still do every now and then. I also d/l'd the "patch" for this from Microsoft's website to no avail) which says something about svchost.exe and some other exe's. I think it has something to do with networking because I loaded up "Event Viewer" from the Control Panel and I managed to track down the error I get *each* time my computer starts up These errors I get are *all* dated right after I had to manually shutdown the computer and when the problems began. Here it is:

Hi,

I've been having Kernal data inpage error which I assume is from a faulty harddrive (or maybe the RAM?!). I occasionally get a disk check during bootup, which didn't seem to help. I was saving up to buy a hybrid SSD/HDD drive before replacing it, but now it seems a bit too late.

Yesterday after a windows update, I rebooted my computer and the desktop was running very slow, nothing would open, explorer.exe would crash, I would be stuck in desktop until I force shutdown by holding the power switch (Shutdown didnt work), after doing this once or twice, I now get a BSOD again with a registry error right after the desktop loads for 1-2 seconds. X051 error code I think.

What step should I take now to diagnose the problem?
Thanks!

I get all those messages at start up, plus superfetch has stopped working, and sometimes windows explorer has stopped working. I know it's some type of virus from something. So far safe mode has been working (slowly). Yesterday I had a friend reinstall(?) vista on it so I'm not sure if it would qualify as a legal copy or not anymore but it was actually much worse before that. It couldn't even start up right normal or safe mode.

it is a hp G60t-200, and the OS is vista, I'm not sure what other info would be needed for this. Please help if you can.

This problem generally occurs only the first time that you run the test. If this problem continues to occur after the first attempt, follow these steps:
1. In Control Panel, double-click Sounds and Audio Devices.
2. On the Voice tab, under Voice Playback, click Advanced.
3. On the Performance tab, move the Hardware Acceleration slider at least one position to the right.

Ive installed 2 different files..

Hi!
My system (XP Pro) has been doing some aggravating things of late like half a window loads, sits, finally other half will load, mouse just doesn't seem to do anything so you click (whatever) again and 3 minutes later 2 of whatever will finally open... just annoying crap really! A few days ago comcast went off and I had to unplug modem, wait, then plug back up and restart system. I got a "Disk read error press control, alt, delete, to restart" error, tried that same thing so I shut down and when I turned back on it booted fine. I have since moved... just set up the system and am getting the same error except this time shutdown/restart isn't working ( The OTHER problem I realize is this... this is a tempory move! Most everything I own is in a storage unit, boxes to the back, furniture to the front and guess where my disks are? Right! I put printer, shredder, disks, everything I didn't just HAVE to have in the storage unit. My XP CD is in there SOMEWHERE. It is NOT an option to find it... Can anyone offer ANY help at all?
Thanks

Hello,

My system is:

Vista Home Premium SP2 on a Dell Inspiron Pentium (R) Dual-Core CPU T4200 @2.00Ghz 2.00 Ghz, Ram is 3.00 GB. Machine is one year and seven months out of the box, had a minor run in with some malware trying to pass itself off as a virus scanner back in January but that was easily got rid of [or appears to have been easy to get rid of], and apart from this I've had no problems with my machine...

However, since installing the windows live 2011 update back in September a number of issues have affected my laptop, initially they were limited to messenger not working [simple change of LAN settings sorted this out, and now works irrespective of LAN settings] and Soulseek becoming inoperative [still not working for me despite a number of attempts at finding a solution, seems to be a port/router related issue, perhaps], recently I had a brief encounter with a blue screen [fraction of a second before vanishing and not returning since] and some significant slow down issues after logging in during startup, this latter issue may have been to do with a cycbot infection which hung around for a while no matter what I tried to do with it in Security Essentials, but now appears to have finally disappeared [I hope actually disappeared as in no longer infecting my machine].

Since the messenger issue I've run a number of chkdsk and similar diagnostics via f8 and booting from disc options as initially chkdsk would reach 9% then stop and my C: error checking or defrag op... Read more

Hi

Running Windows XP Pro SP3

I keep randomly getting this error.

I found some information from 2003 that would lead me to believe that what I have is like the W32.Blaster.Worm documented back then, but after running symantec's specific tool to get rid of Blaster I ended up finding nothing.

Also, I've run many Malwarebytes scans, Spybot Search and Destroy scans and iolo Anti Virus scans(I know it's not the best but others seem to clash with my System Mechanic because it's set to work with the iolo one) which all turn up nothing.
This has been bugging me for a few weeks now while I tried to find out what was going on when I had the free time to run these long scans. At the same time my services.exe and one of my svchost.exe files are always running at about 10% of my CPU each and it definitely seems related to the NT AUTHORITY RPC errors I'm getting now.
Help with this will be extremely appreciated.

hi everyone,
sometimes i get this error message that says "An error occured inside a plug-in contained on this page.".... when i get this error i click ok.. then another pops up and after i click ok about 5 times i have to restart my computer.

one of the sites that this happens to me with ishttp://www.gnronline.com/ when i click on the merchandise link at that site. i think the problem may have to do with quicktime because usually i see a quicktime box above the error messages. can anyone help please?

A:Error message: An error occured inside a plug-in contained on this page.

Hiya

I don't have Quicktime installed on this pc, and I didn't see the error that you're getting. Do you have Quicktime installed?

Also, in any other sites, does the error come up with the QT box?

If not, lets see a log, just to be sure:

go to www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show other issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

Regards

Is the tape drive IDE or is it on the floppy controller too?

So my laptop has a bunch of problems. It started out as a virus infection then I found out more problems.

First of all, thank you to Broni for directing me to the thread that tells me to run DSS.

I can't run a systems restore. I get the 0x800700B7 error. As well, Systems Restore says that I've never had a Systems Restore done before, which I think is odd, because I recall seeing Systems Restores created last time I checked (maybe a year ago?)

I also can't turn on Windows Firewall. I get the "Windows can't start the Mpssvc" message.

I recently got infected by a very well made virus. Reinstalled the OS (Windows 10 Pro Insider) and the virus is still there, even though I click on Format the drive when reinstalling the OS. (does it make any difference if I format the hard drive from an external source like sata-to-usb? I mean will the virus go away?)
Anyway I've run several scanners including Hitman, Eset, Vipre, Adware Cleaner, Adware Removal Tool, Malwarebytes Antimalware, Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit, Norton Anti-Rootkit, Emsisoft Emergency Kit, Junkware Removal Tool and Windows Defender(meaning nothing). But they don't detect anything.
The virus redirects me all the time to sites like Aliexpress, Alibaba, Adcash, casino88 and so on, this is so complex that the site is always changing. The worst part is that, it was affecting my BlackBerry phone, doing the same thing, when I'm connected to the same network.
I was so upset that I reseted both my cellphone and computer, also internet modem/router back to its original defaults, even modem had to be reconfigured.
That didn't work. I can try to eliminate this virus if I'm able to, but I'm needing serious help here, I also don't think that a local repair shop can take care of this. I can try to recreate MBR file is the virus is there with external tools and programs or even make a custom configuration on my ISP modem, I'm open to all suggestions here, and it would be highly appreciated.

We are backing up mailboxes on an Exchange 2007 server and have recently started seeing a backup error on one mailbox out of about 25.

T-597: PtSend: cmd MbeF/msg RdBg: byte count 1041 exceeds maximum of 1024
Trouble reading files, error -523 ( service transaction error)

Anyone know what this means or what we can do to resolve it?

Exchange is on a different server than Retrospect. We are running Exchange 2007 with the latest service packs and updates. Retrospect is version 7.7.620 and the server with Exchange has client version 7.7.114. Let me know if you need any other information. Thanks.*

A:Solved: Trouble reading files, error -523 ( service transaction error)

How big is that mailbox (both size & item count) & is it significantly larger than other mailboxes in the environment?
It might be worthwhile to move the mailbox to a new database just because if there is any corruption, it'll sort it out. The other option would be to then run an isinteg but that would affect the entire database.

Try to look at the answer here: http://www.filerepairforum.com/forum/microsoft/microsoft-aa/exchange-server/507-corrupt-exchange-edb-files-and-save-it-into-pst

2. I was rescued by it:
EDB Repair Kit
This Exchange EDB repair software is the only tool required for comprehensive, fast and cost-efficient recovery of Exchange server data after serious data corruption accidents.

Hope this helpful.

Hi,

After months of trying different things I have gave up and come here for help. The problem arrises when trying to install AVG 2012. The error that is displayed during installation is;

"Severity Error
Error code: 0xC0070643
Error Message: General Internal Error.
Additional Message: Installing 3rd party redistributables failed. If Windows update is prepared on your computer, install it, if Windows update was installed recently, verify, please, its successful completion. Try to install AVG then again.

Having looked around, people say this is a windows update error. I have followed various links back to microsoft support and ran fixes which have been unsuccessful.

Is there anything that can be done without formatting this laptop?

Thanks

We are running Windows XP and get an error code upon booting up that says, "Setup error encountered during installation - Error code 000D". I normally go to the web to find assistance, but can't seem to find an answer this time. Most ask if I have a file called "Creator" or Roxio products installed on the computer. I have searched for these files, but haven't found any. I do have a SONIC program. And I do have Creative MediaSource, but I don't think these are the same. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

HI, I was browsing the internet and got the Internet 2010 malware and maybe 10-12 Trojans. I did some clean-up using McAfee and Ad Aware programs. But when I rebooted I was getting many executable programs failing with the message "error loading c:\windows\system32\bisomasu.dll"I used one of the download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/rkill programs as well as ran the AVZ.exe which seemed to clean up bisomasu.dll. The only error loading message I get now on reboot is the pop-up RUNDLL error loading c:\windows\system32\kiremava.dllHowever, my google browser redirects to different sites and says my gmail certificate is not recognized as trustworthy in both firefox and IE. I even tried to re-install firefox and it redirected me to a fake site that look just like the real deal to download a virus executable which McAfee found and cleaned instantly. Once I cut and pasted the right url and installed a fresh copy of Firefox, it is still redirecting.I'm clearly still infected. I would be most appreciative if you would help me. Well I built this computer in september of 2011 everything was running great no problems at all until today. I left it on and went to the store came back and BSOD. My computer restarted before I could write down any information "Error code" system restore said it was a "unknown error" which terminated my system. My Computer is running fine but I would like to make sure nothing is wrong. I'm thinking it may be my mother board because one of the SATA slots is broken and I had to switch to another one.

System specs
Cpu: Core i7 2600k
OS: windows vista home premuim 64 bit
Motherboard: Asrock p67 extreme4
Memory: 4 gb Corsair vengence "will increase to 8+ as well"
Harddrive: 1TB
Graphics card: 8600GT "will upgrade when BSOD is solved"

If you need anymore information I have the app on my phone and should be able to response quickly. The resource and Performance monitor file says I have no Anti-virus program but I do.... Also says the only thing that failed was system service checks - abnormally terminated service check

Okay I am at wits end.

When I hit send and receive all 3 accounts the User has setup fails to receive anything.

I get the following error -

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'XXXXX', Server: 'XXXXXX', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Now I read a TON of web pages prior to posting so please make sure to read what I have tried before posting a thought on the fix -

I tried everything on this KB - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;813514 except OE reinstall because this is a PC that has OE integrated and to be honest I can't get the account info if I have to wipe it and reload it for another week (but it has to be fixed now)

Basically I have tried the following -
1)Uninstalled AV - No change (even the same socket error number and standard error number).
2) Made a new identity - No change
3) Changed time delay for getting emails up to 5 mins - No change
4) Uninstalled Firewall - No change (even windows firewall is disabled)
5) Checked MTU (it was right also wasn't really thought of as the culprit because all other PC's on the same network get their emails just fine.
6) Tried a system restore but that seems to be fubar as well and none of my old restore points work.

I did do a Hijack This, Ad-Aware, Spybot, Ewido and more scan no prob... Read more

I am using Windows ME in a new Dell Dimension 4100 series, Pentium 3, 1.1 gig, MSN Office 2000 Professional.

I am having trouble saving a word document that was e-mailed to me. I did a "save as" into "my documents." Then I changed something in the document, and I saved it. Upon closing the document I was asked if wanted to save changes and I said yes.(this confused me as I don't normally get this when I do the normal 'save' under the 'file tab')
Later when I went to open this document, I got an error message, "Locked for editing by another user, click notify to open as a read only copy". When I clicked on notify, I got another error message,"Winword has caused an error in winword.exe. Winword will now close.Try restarting your computer."

When I tried to delete this document, I got the message "Cannot delete file. Access is denied. Source file may be in use."

I experimented and again saved into my documents, again made a change, hit save and closed the doc. When I got the message asking me if I wanted to save the changes, I said no. This procedure enabled me to reopen the document.

I don't understand what is happening and why the key seems to be how I answer the question, do you want to save the changes?

Can someone help?
Thanks

A:Word doc-error messages: locked, winword error, source file

SOUNDS LIKE (tho I'm not sure), that Word didn't exit properly at least that one time. Next time it happens, and you believe Word to be closed, hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and see if "winword" is still in the task list. If so, click on it and hit End Task. Then delete your file.

If your programs aren't "really" closing down, you may just need to clean up your hard drive. Follow the instructions at:

Hallo.
I have a failed HDD.
In the past I have usually been able to help myself to at least retrieve any data from the HDD.
But this time the problem seems to be different. If it has any bearing, this is the first time since upgrading to Windows 7 and operating for I can't remember how long, since without any issues.
As I always have in the past, this HDD is formatted with a separate partitions (1) for the OS and program files, and (2) for my data. This has usually this been enough to retrieve my data by installing the drive in a second Thinkpad using a second HDD adapter and retrieving the data. These days I also keep most of my data on a NAS but I do have some folders on a D:\ or Data drive which I would like to retrieve.

This time however I cannot even 'see' the drive at all. Not when I try to boot from it, or as a second HDD using an adapter. It is not even visible under Disk Management in case it needed to be initialized (again?) So this time, I seem stuck, unable to help myself:

In the first instance, I get the Error 2100: HDD0 (Hard Disk Drive) initialization error (2) when booting from the drive.
When I press ESC to continue, the computer tries to initialize the HDD or something, and from memory, I think displays an 'unable to boot from any device' screen and shows the status for the devices without any operating systems.

When I try the same with the affected HDD but this time with an installation disc inserted, I do not see the 'Press any key to boot from CD or DV... Read more

When installing Windows 2000 setup copies the initial files to the hard drive and then restarts to begin the 1st stage of setup.

The system begins the startup process by "Loading the Windows Executive" At this point setup stalls and gives the following message:

A:A corrected hardware error has occurred, Generic Cache Hierarchy Error

Please provide this information: http://www.techsupportforum.com/f217...ns-452654.html

Although you haven't mentioned any BSOD's, the info will provide us with some details so we can try to figure this out.

In general, a machine check is related to an error that's recognized by your CPU and reported to Windows. There's not usually much information in the error reports so we have to fiddle around trying to figure it out.

Most often these are either hardware problems (something's busted) or compatibility issues (either software or hardware).

When attempting to install MS Office 2010 (also applies to Pro, Beta, and 2007) via download, you may be foiled by Error code 25004 and System error 1073418460 under Win 7 (or Vista, XP). You may also see a refusal to verify the license. This typically happens when you fail to uninstall Office 2010 Starter, Office Click, or some other version of Office before attempting to install the new Office. You would think MS had already figured out how to prevent this <sigh>.

You need to remove all the instances of Office in order to properly install the new office. However, you may also find that the Windows uninstall from Control Panel, Add or change a program will fail to remove the old Office.

This thread can be helpful, although it is somewhat dated. The RevoUninstaller sounds like a successful utility, but I have not tried it myself.

A:will not boot- MBR Error, after recovery attempt- Hard drive write error!

hi, you say it does not recognise the system recovery disk, have you accessed the BIOS, by pressing f1, f10, f10 or del then go to boot order and make sure the cd is booting first then the hard drive. Also in the bios check if the cd-ROM is detected.
Is it possible to access safemode through f8? or can you only choose the two options displayed?
I think it might be that your hard drive is failing,
Also make sure the BIOS setup doesn't inhibit wrting to the boot sector
Check this to see if the hard drive is failing.

Hello again. I continue to have problems requiring some assistance. I am running windows 7 Home, SP1, and I use windows live mail email client to service my email accounts with bellsouth.net (att.yahoo.com).
Over the past year I have been having spells when My ability to send or receive email would result in an error message 0x800CCC90 stating my password is incorrect. I know it is correct because I use it to access my web mail when Live Mail quits. These spells of broken email willl generally correct themselves on their on; however this most receent episode has lasted about two weeks and it's geting a little annoying now. My attempts to consult ATT by chat for assistance always ends in their throwing up their hands in defeat and a closing statement that the problem is my email client and not ATT and ATt support does not include Windows live mail. My mose recent chat sesssion ended with the silent treatment from the chator leaving the chatee hanging.

I know the problem is a server problem because my attempt to change my email password resulted in a statement: "There are currently no available options for you to obtain a temporary password for your account. For help retrieving or resetting your password, please contact us."

I appreciate your patience with my rather verbose complaint. Any assistance will be greatly appeciated.

On my GENESIS pc (view my specs) which i built myself earlier this year, it has been fine for months, and just recently, i have been happily sat downloading, browsing the net, listening to music, and all of a sudden, system crash, followed by a BSOD.

I switched off "automatic restart", i have not taken down the details of the BSOD yet, but i will do if required. When i reboot, i have an alert "the system has recovered from a serious error".

The details contain:

Error code 100000d1, parameter1 00022c36, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 f2c08ba5.

A:System Error: Cat:(102) Event: 1003 - Blue Screen Error frequently.

At first sight this could be the result of a windows update messing with a driver, or possibly a recent driver update. Have you tried going back on a recent driver update or possible a system restore to see if this cures it? The trouble with intermittent BSDs like this is that it can take an age to check!
