Freaky problem with Microsoft Word 2003...everyone please look

Q: Freaky problem with Microsoft Word 2003...everyone please look

I was using Word normally only a few hours before this started.

Word types random sentances by itself. It also prints multiple pages, opens new windows and changes the page set up all by itself.

I brand a file onto the computer from my USB device just before this.

Anyone got any idea what the problem is and how i can fix it.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the program, but the problem remains.

Help!

Hi, I've been having this problem with MS Word 2003 for a little bit.

What happens is, I open the application, and the Word box pops up like it's about to open like it should, but then it takes forever to open, maybe over 10 minutes or so, unless I just end the process like I usually do since it takes so long.

The only thing I've noticed different about anything when I open it is, Navw32.exe starts running, and if i end that, an alert window opens that says "The document C:\Documents and Settings\David Solis\Application Data\Microsoft\Normal\Templates.dot is still infected. Do you want to delete this file?". I'll click no, and Word opens.

Any idea what any of this is, why it's doing it, and how to stop it? Thanks!

Dave

A:Microsoft Office Word 2003 problem

I have seen several suggestions for dealing with this problem, some work for some people, others don't and
some of them are potentially destructive, in my opinion, therefore I do not propose to supply any links.

However, I will tell you that I had the same problem recently. I run Office 2003 Professional Edition and
downloaded the Office 2007 trial. It was not for me and I uninstalled it. My problems then started,
with these 'Please wait while Windows configures' messages.

I tried all the usual 'repair' methods, but the only thing which fixed the problem was a complete
uninstall and reinstall of Office 2003. That would be my only suggestion and in addition,
I left the setup files on my hard disk, when asked, because there are some features that are not
immediately installed by the program, even on a full install and it saves digging out the CD/DVD
whenever you come across these features. (Don't remember too clearly which ones, I think it
may have been in connection with Publisher).

I appreciate this may be stating the obvious. If you can find an easier method, which you trust,
good luck.

btw, I am assuming that your computer is virus, adware, malware and spyware free.
You should run something like Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpware if you haven't
checked recently; presumably you have a realtime antivirus scanner.

Hello there.

Microsoft office 2003 problem.
When starting microsoft word on vista ulitmate, there seems to be a problem

This will automatically shut down, saying there was a problem and is shutting down...
The other programs seem fine, Excel, powerpoint, etc.

I havent a clue what this could be, has anyone else had this problem.
In the top right corner of microsoft word it will say "Finalizing Installation" and then after you type a couple of sentences it will shut down on its own..

This is for a friend of mine, who had microsoft office put on when she bought the laptop of a friend, though she does not have the disk, so i wondered if this is an installation problem.

Would this be some sort of copy of microsoft office 2003, that was put on for her
She has only found this out now as her son needs to use word for school

A:Microsoft office 2003/ Problem with Word

I assume that you're opening up Word from the Start menu here...

Open up the Start Menu and go to Word. Right-click on it. Open up its Compatability tab which is the third tab.

2003 is an XP product. Therefore, Word (and Excel and Access if they're 2003 versions) should be run in compatibility mode for "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)."

If this is not so, check the box and select Windows XP from the list to make it so amd OK the box to close it.

See if it runs now.

My Office is: Microsoft Office Word 2003 (11.5604.5606)

The problem is when I'm using my Khmer Font (Limon) and I type a certain letter (only this one letter) which use Ctrl + Alt + T it change my font to Time New Roman size 10 and the cursor also change appearance.
I'm attaching the pictures of screenshot and logs I scan with MBAM and CCleaner. Although I don't think it's virus problem.
Please help me.

Sorry on the go

But all it is. Is that you have size 10 and then size 22 after it

I can't explain it clearly it's 10 10 10 10 10 22 22 22
And when you backspace the 22 size it stays 22 until you make it size10 again
As for that little dot, it must be the font at that size, or something

I'm having a strange problem with Microsoft Word 2003 SP3.

It only happens on new docs. I'm a writer and when I open ongoing projects in Word everything is fine, but when I open a new doc. my Page Setup doesn't work. If I set it to have 1" of space top, bottom and sides, it doesn't work on the top. My first line starts at the very top of the page.

Also, the ruler up the left side should be dark where that top inch of space should be, but it isn't because it's not working. I discovered a temporary fix in Page Setup by setting the top space to be 2" and the sides and bottom to be 1". However, even doing this I don't get the dark inch or so at the top of my left margin ruler.

I did a repair in ADD Remove Programs but it didn't change anything. It might be a corruption in Word because I have the same Office 2003, SP3 on my laptop and I've compared all the settings on both computers and they appear to be identical.

Has anyone here run into this problem, and do you think uninstalling and reinstalling Office might solve the problem?

Thanks in advance.

I have created in Microsoft Word 2003 on an XP OS some lengthy documents. I created them using a view setting of 150%.

I sent them to my employer, who is using Windows 98 and Microsoft Word 97. My boss opened them with his system and they displayed on the screen at a view of 200%. He wants me to send him Word documents that he can open from the CD-R that I send that will automatically display at 100% view on the screen so that he does not have to set the view for each document as it displays.

So what is the answer.

Is there a way that I can save my created documents so that when my boss gets them on a CD-R that they will open on his system at a view setting of 100%.

Is there also a way that his system can be set to default to 100% in reading from the CD-R.

My boss does not want to copy the documents to the system hard disk from my sent CD-R, preferring to read and copy directly from the CD-R that I send, so that the original documents will not accidentally be changed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, so here's the story: everytime I open a document in MSWord 2003, its fine, opens and works and I can type and do whatever. The first time I save the file, it saves properly, however, if I CTRL+S again, it asks me to specify what file I want to save it as, and when I try to save it as the one I have open, it errors me, saying that the file that I have open is a read-only file. That's weird, because in the properties I can clearly see that its not read-only.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I un and reinstalled on my PC but the problem continues. Any help will be greatly appreciated =]

Thanks in advance.

BTW I am using XP and the in the blue bar of the open document it says "DocumentName (Read-Only)" after I try to save it for the second time.

With Word, I have words that i use that are correct, but it keeps underlining them in red and i know you can add the words into its dictionary so that this doesn't happen for those words anymore. I forgot on where you do it, i know i should know as i've been using word since Office '95. I just always click on ignore. Someone did tell me once, but i need my memory refreshed.

A:Microsoft Word 2003 - Need Help

The easiest way I found was to run spell check and when the pop up dialog box appears on words not in Word's dictionary( red squigglies) , there is an option to ignore, change, etc., or "add to dictionary". It is there that I make a decision whether to add or not, and I add it to the general dictionary. Check the HELP to determine how to set up a *special* dictionary, if that is what you want to do, just for these words.
Hope this helps.

A:Microsoft Word 2003

Hum.. You want to insert a mathematical expression in your text? Or do you want Word to calculate a quare root for you?

In case of the former, you have to install an Office component called Equation Editor.
If you have that, then you can do Insert->Object->Create New->Microsoft Equation

Otherwise, you can always draw the formula in Paint and then copy-paste to Word

I have never had a problem with Microsoft Word until now. I can use Word fine on my computer. In the past week or so, however, when I send Microsoft Word documents to people, sometimes they say they can open them and sometimes they say they can’t open them. It depends on the person. On some of my e-mail clients (I have multiple e-mail accounts), I can open the files I send myself (i.e. I will send an e-mail to my multiple e-mail accounts and I will attach Word documents to that e-mail. On some clients I can open the files I send myself, and others I can’t...I did a check disk /r (checkdisk repair) on March 9 and it fixed the problem. I could send Word documents and everyone could download them and I could send Word documents to myself and download them via AOL Mail, Yahoo, and everything. And then the problem came back again. When I click on the file in the mail client that doesn’t read the documents correctly, the attachment comes up as saying that the mail client interprets the .doc file as being related to Notepad (specifically listing Notepad as the program it wants to open the file in), not Word. Then when I try to open it (either straight from the e-mail or after downloading the file back to my hard drive), it tries to open in word and gives me the converter message. When it was working for a little while on March 9, the way I knew a Word document would work correctly even before trying to open a file is that AOL.com Mail would list it as being a Word doc... Read more

A:Microsoft Word 2003 nightmare

I haven't read nor absorbed your entire message.
There's one thing that comes to mind immediately - your clients may have slightly different Word. If they have 2007, you need to send them the 2007 version or have them open as previous version (if possible).

Long ago there was an office update which added some sort of converter to my Office2003. Perhaps if you save as some other than 2003 .doc it would work. That update permitted me to open a document or two someone sent me.

Edited: what is one supposed to do with that megaupload site? All I see to pay lots of UK currency. I'm willing to try to open your
files in my Office2003 but not under those conditions.

In the old microsoft word, when you had more than one document open, they would all use the same window, and minimize within itself. However I now have 2003 and when I open a new document, they are completly seperate windows and use two buttons on the task bar. I liked having all my documents open in the same program that i can control with the x in the corner. This is hard to explain so i Hope you know what i am talking about. I know it is possible to change this setting because ive used antoher computer where it has done this. I just can not find it in the options or anywhere I have looked. Any help would be appriciated. Hey,

I have a problem where Word 2003 crashes when I open a document, especially if that document is an email attachment, or something I havn't authored, it happens about 95% of the time. It usually freezes and i can't type, or use my mouse on the page, i usually have to right click on the window bar to close the window. It then pops up a window that I have chosen to close the unresponsive program and asks me to send notification to microsoft. I have dloaded all the latest security packs etc., checked the msoft website, visrus checked and run the office recovery software as well and havn't had any luck in fixing the problem.

Any ideas?

Hi there,

I asked a similar question before in that it involved Microsoft Word 2003; and I have another in a related vein now. Is it okay/or safe to have 100 and more pictures in one .doc file? I don?t mean that the pictures here are ?as-is? -- in other words, big pictures -- but they are in fact shrunken down in the document ? sort-of like small stills, lined up. Is this okay to do?

A:Care with using Microsoft Word 2003

I don't see why there would be ay issues having that many images in one file.

I've tried uninstall/reinstall and ran ? repair Word?. Nothing seems to help. I downloaded the trial version of Word 2007 just to see if it would work, and it worked fine.
I'm running Vista Home Premium 64bit.
If anybody has any ideas, I would appreciate it. System Info below.

Hello:

I have a new computer.

I have 'Microsoft Office Word 2003' on my old computer and I wanted to place the program on my new computer except that I can't find the cd.

My Question:

Is there a command that I can use, say in the "run" program to transfer all the files of 'Microsoft Office Word 2003' of to a thumb drive and transfer the 'Microsoft Office Word 2003' to my new machine?

Thanks to all.

Welcome to TSG.

Are you in print layout view? That's the only view that will display the ruler in Word 2003. If so, go to Tools/Options and select the View tab. Under Print and Web Layout options, check the Vertical ruler box. Hope that helps.

I've been using word 2003 in windows 7 for a couple years now and it always worked fine. Recently, I have been experiencing this issue where if I click on "save as" to save the file and then double click the C drive it just sits there and freezes for a couple minutes (and I get the "not responding" box with everything whited out). I tried to uninstall and reinstall microsoft office 2003 and the problem is still there. I don't know why it's doing that when I click on the C drive because I can save the file to the desktop or under documents right away without any freezing and then move the file -- but this is a hassle. How can I fix this problem?

Please help!

Hello,

I currently have about 30,000 lines of macros. Occasionally the people I work for want an updated list of all the macros in that file (most are user specific) so that they know what macros they have and if then need a different one or edit a current one.

What have been looking for is a way to print the names of the macros only, and not the entire marco file/code.

the first macro looks something like this..

Sub hinj()
'
' hinj Macro
' Dr. H's Corticosteroid Injection
'
Selection.TypeText Text:= _
"DESCRIPTION OF PROCEDURE"
Selection.TypeParagraph
Selection.TypeText Text:= _
"The patient's * was injected with."
end sub

(cut short for brevity)

then the next macro, and so on and so forth.

What i have been looking for is a way to print a list of the macros but not the macro themselves.

IE.. I wold like it to print out...

hinj Macro
Dr. H's Corticosteroid Injection

hhyal
Dr. H's Hyalgan Macro

hspi
Dr. H's Supartz Macro.

so on and so forth with all 375 macros printed.

Is there a way to do this? I would be most appreciative for any clue as to how to do this.

Whenever I try to open a saved Word document (or even a PowerPoint), the file doesn't open and I get the following message:

"The file ____ is not available.
You may be encountering this message because an anti-virus program is not allowing the file to open. This can be caused by one of two conditions. Either the anti-virus program needs to be updated (due to a compability problem with this application) or there is a virus in the file but the anti-virus program cannot properly remove or process the virus it has found....etc."

Then when I close the document, I get the following message:
"The file Normal already exists. Do you want to replace the existing file?"

I've tried deleting the file. I've restarted my computer, deleted "normal.dot" through my computer's search engine, and then opening word. I've tried renaming the file to "normal.old", and followed the instructions after that like I found on a website.
Also, I went to Tools > Macro > Macros and gone to the "Macros in" list, clicked "All active templates and documents", but there weren't any macros listed there.

I tried using the Macro Organizer, and there weren't any macros listed there either.

Many websites suggested that I open the file through MS word and then hold shift before opening it. When I try to open a file, it just says that it isn't available.

Can i disable those add-ins?

Just recently something has changed with my Microsoft Office Word 2003 app.

I'm a writer and I have always been able to drag my pages that I have written today to a folder in My Documents and the same file would stay on my desktop for immediate access later. I realize other may not work this way but it is how I prefer to work as it has become my habit

When I try to drag and drop it now, it drops into the My Documents folder but it no longer remains on the desktop.

Now, in conjunction with this problem, I have another new problem, which is that when I write a page of text in Word and save it to a My Documents folder it doesn't go there. Also when I save a picture to My Pictures as I've always done it won't be there when I look for it. Something is preventing me from saving things and I haven't a clue what it is. I have to open the My Documents folder and drag the Word text page into it. It's the only way I can save stuff for some reason.

Can someone please tell me how I can fix this problem?

Thank you in advance.

office2003sp3-kb923618-fullfile-enu.exe.part

I have windows look it up on the internet but it wants to download a file like "PC Mighty Max" to correct the problem. Should I do this?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dale

A:Microsoft word professional 2003 install problems

spursume,

The first file [office2003sp3-kb923618-fullfile-enu] is the Office 2003 SP3 file, the second file [office2003sp3-kb923618-fullfile-enu(2)] is just a second copy of the same file. Both should be 117.7 MB in size. If neither of them are the correct size, you will need to re-download the SP3 file here.

The third file [office2003sp3-kb923618-fullfile-enu.exe.part] is an incomplete download attempt of the Office 2003 SP3 file. This is indicated by the .part extension.

You indicate that the second file " just loads the service pack." This exactly what it is supposed to do. Did you receive any errors during the install? Did the Office 2003 CD install without errors?

Hi

we have created a mail-merge between our database of patients in excel and word, but when we come to the section where we tick the boxes next to the people required for the mail-merge we can select only 1 or 2 or 100, but when the mail-merge goes to the next section it has reverted to selecting the whole database of patients, which when your trying the send a letter to only a few people and it instead tries to print 5000+ letters is annoying to say the least.

i have tried changing the database to running from access, and i have started fresh and re done the mail-merge letter but this is all to no avail as the same error occurs???

any ideas,

There may be some bad data within the columns that may be causing your issue. Look to see if there something out of the ordinary within the dataset you are trying to use for the mail merge. I think one may be column headings with spaces in them and another may be where two or more rows may have meen merged in your spreadsheet.

Hi masoodsoomro,

You didn't give any examples of which words are giving you problems.

I'm guessing that you are referring to the red squiggly underline for mis-spelt words, in which case it could be the language setting of the documents you have pulled off of your network being different to your default language.

Check what you have in Tools / Language / Set language.

I've got a document about 41 pages, broke into multiple sections. Track changes have been on, I've been able to edit the file for a while up until an hour. Now, when i make any changes this document just closes, this has been tried and same phenomenon occurs on 3 other computers, so it must be something with the file? Any idea would be appreciated.

Some interesting characteristics:
when change is made word shuts down.
but when you use auto recover and word opens back up, the change that caused word to close is actually made.

A:Microsoft Word 2003 closes in error when I make a change with track changes

do you have the remove hidden data feature installed and turned on?
Otherwise, I would suspect a corrupt Normal.dot file - close Word, find and rename or delete it (Word will rebuild it when you open it again).

Hi Esmo. For Word 2007, the Custom dictionary is actually stored within the UProof folder and Uproof should be there(earlier versions of Word used a different destination/folder called Proof). Uproof should be there (see below) and should contain your Custom.dic file. The UProof folder is located at: C:\Documents and Settings\*your user*\Application Data\Microsoft\UProofInside the folder called UProof is the Custom.DIC file, the file type of which is called Microsoft Office User Dictionary.dicFollow the path above to view the Uproof folder. To view what Word is using to proof, you should go to the Office Button, select ‘Word Options’ at the bottom.Select Proofing. Good afternoon people,

Firstly, I would like to say hello to everyone who've helped me in the past with my Access help. It's been a long absence with study commitments and such, but as is the purpose of this group, I would like to ask for some tech help:

The situation: Microsoft Word (as part of Office 2003 Professional Edition) frequently closes without user notification on my dad's laptop (Windows Vista Basic). It's recently started, and it interrupts his work. He says that the issue occurs when he minimises documents, but he didn't indicate a frequency of this occurrence. He also told me that once he successfully saves a document and closes Word, he then encounters issues when opening said document; it says that the file has been "corrupted" (I can't remember exactly what the dialog box says), and that the data can be recovered, or to proceed with opening the document. Data recovery doesn't work, and when he proceeds to open the document, Word returns "Program not responding" and "Critical error caused by the program" and other prompts of this nature, which then forces the program to quit.

I am aware that a similar problem is in the Microsoft Knowledge Base for Word 2003, but was last revised in 2004 (so covered only xp and 2000), and am not certain if this issue is the same for Windows Vista. It related to the "Handwriting Recognition" program.

Additionally, as always, there are a multitude of ... Read more

Hi

Here is a strange one. I have Microsoft Word 2000 on a computer running Windows XP SP3. I just began having a problem opening documents directly in Word. The documents will open but they are not right. For example, I have a document that is passworded out. Within Word, the document will open, but it does not ask for a password, and the contents of the document come up scrambled. Here is an excerpt of what it looks like:

+??+???7k'?p%V9
q|?F
t?Uzjikvn?nnU
b*79g?CAg?
t???c\0B?~I?_sD
l%*~tL
T,?*O?>.???l?C?
Ab/hA>[S?

This goes on for 20 pages.

However, if I go into Windows Explorer and open the document by double clicking on it there, it correctly asks for the password and opens fine. Weird, no?

I tried opening other documents from Word that do not have passwords. They open, but the documents include a bunch of formatting instructions that usually remain hidden. But from Windows Explorer they open fine. Here is an example:

Document opened with Windows Explorer

Blaine
Blair
Brody
Bryce
EVAN: English form of Welsh Iefan, meaning "God is gracious."
Lucas
Quentin
----------------------------------------------

Same document opened from within Word:

Blaine
Blair
Brody
Bryce
EVAN: English form of Welsh Iefan, meaning "God is gracious."
Lucas
Quentin

Lately i have been having weird problems with who the hell knows what, here it goes:It all started when i was playing GunZ (an online game), everything was going fine untill my screen jumped UP and right clicked by itself EVERY fourty seconds, at first i thought, ok its fine, i turned off GunZ and start just moving my mouse left and right on my desktop just to make sure it is a virus, every fourty or so seconds my mouse would automatically right click, so i ran a virus scan. The virus scan came up with a trojan downloader and some other spyware/adware, i qaurantined it then deleted them, after this i thought, awesome, now its ok but now, just recently the right click problem has just started comming back, its becomming a real problem, im yet to run another virus scan because i know i deleted those infects as i mentioned befor. Can anybody please help me? Should i disable my mouse and take a look at it?UPDATE:Which ones should i get rid of? (somebody on anoter forum suggeted i look here):AND (had to crop, stupid imageshack )How do i stop them from comming back if i need to get rid of some of the above^?Any here?^Also, it just happened b4, it just went sycho, somehow i managed to press ctrl alt dlt between it all and the first process was this thing called alg.exe LOCAL HOST and when i stopped that it stopped going sycho, is this causing my problems?

Interesting one here, Trying to network my computer and laptop via ad-hoc network but i encounter a weird problem every time i do it.

I start off starting the ad hoc server with one computer, after that i connect to it with the other and so on and so forth, then when the computer is done identifying the network the host computer(its always the one I started the adhoc with) decides its not going to play ball anymore and disconnects, and makes a new adhoc network with the same name only with every increasing numbers on the end of it and then sits there and happily waits for the other computer to connect to what its already connected to. does anybody have any idea what the **LARGE FIERY PLACE WHERE BAD PEOPLE GO** is going on here? Problem here is when i move to disconnect and connect it to this new adhoc network the original host computer decides it doesnt exist anymore and disconnects and im back at the start. any ideas as to what the **LARGE FIERY PLACE WHERE BAD PEOPLE GO** is going on and how can i fix it?

Edit: moderate that!

Okay this oughta stump some of you out there. I just traded a desktop I refurbed for a HP Pavilion DV9700 laptop. BEAUTIFUL FREAKING MACHINE, I have never owned such a machine before. Anyway it has this FREAKY problem. When you first start the PC, post screen is fine, "starting windows screen is fine, then the screen where it shows log in accounts, it looks like person has taken their finger and pressed really hard into the screen and smeared it in a"curvy, half moon" shape. When windows loads it goes away. Until you change graphics theme to standard with ANY aero interface it cant be seen but regular background it can. Now heres something else, when it DOES do it on the log in screen, you can tilt the screen downwards and POOF it vanishes. IM LIKE WHAT THE HELL!!?? My ideas are bad screen, bad inverter, or busted graphics chip. I have tried fresh install of Windows and CLEAN drivers install from Nvidias site and HP's site. ANYONE have ANY ideas on this one?? Thanks in advance!!

Microsoft Word 2003 on my Sony Vaio laptop doesn't have a Save As function, either in the File menu or as shortcut Alt+F A. It's not even there as a disabled/greyed out option - the options under File go straight from Save to Save as a webpage. Any ideas what could have happened "Save As" or how to restore it?

I am struggling with my new Windows 7 computer. It has Internet Explorer 9 and MS Word 2003. One of the problems that that I cannot resolve is that I can?t see my text editing in Normal View. On my old computer , with Windows XP Home SP3 and also MS Word 2003, I could change the font type or size in Normal View and see it immediately while still in Normal View. With my new computer I can edit the text in Normal View but only see the editing in Web Layout, Print Layout and Reading Layout Views. ( I can?t see the editing in Outline View either, but I never use this feature ).
Strangely, if I change text in Normal View to italics, bold or underline, then I can see the changes in Normal View. I tried for hours with books and online to find the solution. I would be grateful for any advice. Many thanks. Dave Dale.

Here's a fairly dumb *** question about a problem I thought was to do with Word 2003, but actually seems to affect all areas of the computer:

I'm typing along -- in a document but sometimes even when entering a password -- when suddenly the prompt skips to a previous place in the word/sentence/paragraph. I've tried searching through the Help menu but with no luck. No one I ask can give a solution, and I can find no pattern to why happens when it does (although it seems most frequent when I'm typing fiercely with a deadline to meet.)

I expect the reason is I hit a combination of keys several months ago which turned it on -- though I can't figure in what circumstances it would be helpful. In any case, it's HIGHLY annoying and I'd be very grateful if someone could tell me how I could stop it from happening.

Thanks a lot,
John

Hi There,

We have a small network in the office (XP Pro+ SP2 and Office 2003) and a server running Win server 2003. We store company headed word document template on the server. The template contains a simple header and the company's logo.

Every time we try to access the word doucment on the server and open it, MS word crashes and say serious error occured and MS word restarts. If we copy the word document to the desktop it opens normally. If we open it on the server, Word crahses.

Is this a security, Macro problem or what?

I would appreciate any help. Many thanks.

Hi, I am running MS office pro 2003 with Vista home basic OS. Until recently everything worked fine. Then one day my daughter informed me that she got the blue screen. We ran the compuer in safe mode until I could removed or turned off all of the programs except the necessary ones. Currently my PC is slow to open Word taking about 1-2 minutes. Once open I can create a document and save it but I cannot open it once it has been saved. This happens for both Word and Excel.

I have uninstalled and re-installed microsoft and the problem persists. I have tried re-installing a backup disk but it would not read it. Vista was pre-installed on the PC so I don't have any disks to re-install that. I am considering buying the Vista software so I can have it for problems like this. But now I am not sure which one should I buy basic or premium.

Does anyone know what I could do to get my PC back on track operating smoothly again.

Thanks for any help I receive.

A:Word 2003 Problem

Most new computers do not come with CD's, what they have instead is a Recovery Partition. To use it go to Start(Windows Logo), All Programs and find the Acer folders. In there you should find the Acer eRecovery Manager that will allow you to create a backup disc set or to run the recovery from the hard drive.

But have you checked the computer for viruses or spyware?

Or try using System Restore to return the computer to a date when it was functioning okay?

Here is an example of the problem. If I type e.g an "A" using the center alighnment, then press enter to get to the next line, then click on the Align Left button, the "A" becomes alighned left. If I then press the Undo button, the result is what it should have been in the first place: the "A" becomes recentered, while the cursor remains on the left.

The same thing happens if I type the "A" with center alighnment, press enter, type a "B", select the "B", and then press the Align Left button. Both the "A" and the "B" become left alighned. If I now press Undo, the "A" returns to its centered position, while the "B" remains left alighned.

There are many other examples where actions I perform on selected text, such as changing it to bold, have the effect of changing some or all of the preceeding text as well, e.g to bold also. Using the Undo key, as before, undoes the changes on the preceeding text, without reversing the changes to the selected text.

I have tried reinstalling Office 2003, but this did not solve the problem.

Any help will be appreciated.

A:Problem with Word 2003

Don't have a specific answer to your question and I know there's many actions performed automatically by word, I would suggest you have the line selected before it as well when you apply the formatting.

I avoid all that by typing my document out in it's entirety then highlight and apply formatting afterwards.

Hi, perhaps someone can give me some advice.

I cannot copy and paste into a word document. I always get a logo and not the word document.

It's a logo of a chicken on toy of a guitar handle and it says tiedyes.com underneath it. This is being pasted into every document but not my text.

Could someone please help me.

Thanks!!

A:Problem with Word 2003

This happens when you paste text from Notepad? If so, I'd say you have a serious malware infection problem. If not, you'll have to be more specific as to what you're copying and pasting and from where.

INFO ONLY for those suddenly having "no response" with MS Office 2003/2007 Word:

Weeks ago I suddenly got a problem with Microsoft Word (Office 2003) usually failing to respond , unable to open or save files, and just "hourglass thinking". In fact I frequently had to go to Task Manager to close it. Tried everything I could think of and read in sites (renaming "normal.dot", reloading MS Office 2003, loading MS Office 2007 with same result, removing Adobe 9 Pro that had been loaded a week before, using "repair" command.............and nothing worked. Finally I found a solitary blog input somewhere saying that the person with same problem on Vista resolved it by uninstalling "Office Live DD-on 1.4". I had installed that a few weeks before I discovered the problem and never used Office on Vista PC since installation. I uninstalled "Office Live Add-ON 1.4" after many hours of trying other things.............and PROBLEM FIXED!
On my XP laptop and desktop, that Add-On has no impact on Office programs but is apparently a problem with Vista. I did not see any such notice on Microsoft site.

Would someone PLEASE help me figure my issue out. I am at a loss as to what I did on my laptop for Microsoft Word to just stop working. This is what's going on:
1. I open up Word; 2. I go to my documents & click on the doc I want to open; 3. I get the pop-up that states, for example, "The file Amer Hist Doc 3 is not available".

If I send the doc as an attachment in my email & then open it on another computer, it comes up fine. It just won't work on my laptop.

Did I accidently hit someone to make Word do this all of the sudden?? Do I just need to un-install Microsoft Office & then reinstall??

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Lily

Hi there!

Well, Bascailly i had the my water cooled BFGtech 8800GTX RMA'ed exactly a week ago, because it had some weird RAM issue. The card came back and was working like a dream! crysis on (almost) full was sweet ! but then yesterday whilst simply checking my mail i got a nvdlklmm (something like that0 error, which kept crashing and restarting...which was slightly annoying but then it became really bad. I restarted and then the comptuer was fine again, after 15 mins i got the rror again! so i restarted for the 3rd time and noticed there were tiny (1 pixel size) blue dots around the screen, like 3/4 on the desktop, and a whole row diagonally on stuff liek visualtisations and games! so i booted into safemode and then i saw that there were absolutely no errors AT ALL! it was working like new. i uninstalled drivers and reinstalled, cleaned them, etc, and so long as the drivers were uninstalled the computer would work like a dream (crap reses though!). No matter which version i used, the latest, the old and the beta the second they got installed i got the dots and crashes on the screen again! this is driving me insane as iv spent ALOT on this card and i dont want to go to the hassle of RMA'ing the damn thing again! its going to cost me again for another postage and packaging...LAME! so any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Just to summarise, ive cleaned drivers, reisntalled, and whenever the Nvidia drivers were on i got the errors, whenever they were uni... Read more

A:Major issue! BFG8800GTX freaky problem

The absolute best way to diagnose the problem would be to try the card on another system, if possible.

If the card is working fine in safe mode, then it is most likely a driver issue/conflict within Windows. While in safe mode, uninstall the drivers normally from the Add/Remove programs menu and then run a driver cleaner such as Driver Cleaner Pro or Driver Sweeper. Run the cleaner a few times and then restart the computer; boot back into safe mode. Reinstall the latest display drivers, restart, and boot into Windows normally. If you are still having problems, it may be with the chipset drivers or DirectX installation.

It is the oddest thing. My WMP 11 was working beautifully until today. It started by showing all of my blank CDs as full. So I went out and bought new blank CDs. They were still being shown as full. When I rebooted my computer and went back on to WMP it said I did not have a burner connected or no burner was detected. Now it won't even play a file and freezes when I click on anything. This all just happened so suddenly. I tried reinstalling WMP 11 twice. The problem still occurs with WMP 10. This is what the error report showed -

(I'd rather give this information via PM if anyone is interested in helping me)

If anyone can help me out at all I would really appreciate it. It seems viral, but I am not sure about that.

Thanks in advance,

Rachel

A:Freaky Problem With Windows Media Player

Hi,

We really do not encourage helping through PM because it denies anyone else who may have the same problem an opportunity to fix their problem. Also, by doing so publicly, then you have an opportunity for more people to help, as well as prevent any bad advice from getting through.

The first two question are, did you install or uninstall anything before the problem occurred, and have you tried using the system restore yet?
