Error 678 Connecting Outlook to verizon online

Q: Error 678 Connecting Outlook to verizon online

I have had no problems for months, going to Outlook Express and connecting to verizon online with the DSL to retreve my mail (Using Outlook Express Mailbox) Now, for some reason, I get a window that pops up which first says it's dialing...with my name..then another window comes up saying error 678... "remote computer did not respond". I have the Home XP edition with the Verizon DSL box...and can get into my mail in a round about way...using their system... Also, I can access it from a site away using a different web address... but these take more time and are not as handy to me as being able to click Outlook Express direct to retreve mail. I'm a novice at this and have tried to troubleshoot on my own for days....may have messed some things up... Have checked all of my settings in Outlook and verizon....this is driving me nuts!! Help somebody?!

I use XP.
I no longer use Verizon DSL to connect to the Internet. Haven't used it in three years.
Switched to Broadband through Cablevison.
A few weeks ago, when I turned on my PC to connect to the Internet, the following error message came up on my screen:
Verizon Online Update Error connecting to Internet. Could not detect a DDM enabled router connetion to the PC 0x82600264.

i have tried two separate fixes:
First, I tried to remove any Verizon programs still on my PC, but there was nothing regarding Verizon on the list.
Second, I tried the msconfig on the startup tab but there was nothing about Verizon to disable.

i called Verizon and my Cable company, and they could not help me.

Also, when I eventally connect to the internet through my current broadband provider, the top of the screen reads " MSN.com Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by Verizon Online"
How do I eliminate that as well?

I think there are other people with the same problem as me since I have seen similar posts about this. Can you help me eliminate this error message? Thanks so much.

I was troubleshooting my friend's verizon/outlook e-mail. The server settings are all set, and they send/receive find.

The problem is that they receive 20 copies of each piece of incoming mail. If you e-mail them once, they will get about 15-20 versions of it. It's killing their mailbox!

Does anyone know what will cause this?

Again, they are using Verizon and Microsoft Outlook via smtp.

Thanks

Sorry I didn't know if I could post this in malware section-Forgive me if this is wrong. Malware gurus: Would it be helpful or hurt to try to get infected XP Windows machine online via help from Verizon-doing things in menus while waiting for help? I cannot post the GMER file from netbook says file was over 512 at around 782. I am currently on non-secured network with netbook. I posted what I could all but gmer.

I am waiting for verizon to send router/modem however i was able to get online just wireless would not set up but now cannot & driver loaded but says network card disconnected. I don't know if it would be helpful to try to get machine online with Verizon before help arrives.

Computer hell for 2 or 3 weeks...Also I was hoping to print out fed tax forms to do taxes/need schedule C etc-don't have print driver for netbook/don't know if I can use printer with this netbook which has Windows 7 starter gotta find out from HP or ASUS.

I have a Dell 17R with windows 7. Several months ago out of the blue my computer quit letting me make on line payments to Verizon. My wife has the same laptop & I have no problem when using hers. I have no problems making online payments to any of my other web sites. I worked with Verizon (a lot) & they could find no reason from their end why I had this problem. Finally they suggested I try a different computer & bingo, it worked. Why do I have this problem only from my computer & why only to Verizon. HELP!

Hello, I am having trouble uninstalling Verizon Online. I was at my friends house and we were trying to get a LAN up and running and it took us a while but he finally figured out that he had Verizon Online and that we needed to install Verizon Online on our computer.

So we all installed the Verizon Online application on our computers and we got it working. But now I can't find a way to uninstall it. It is not in the add/remove programs list and at certain times when I am browsing the internet it pops up and asks me to connect which is really irritating. So please help me remove it completely since I will never be using it again. Thanks!

Has anyone had or seen tips on this problem? When I first installed the software and started up the card, it worked perfectly. The next day I tried it again, and couldn't get it to work. I waited a couple of hours because it said try again later. It still didn't work. I spent at least an hour on the phone with Verizon uninstalling, reinstalling and trying all kinds of different settings. Finally I turned off my firewall and it worked. I tried to do a couple of things, but after about 3 minutes it was gone again. I tried several more times, but couldn't get it back at all. I called support back and went through the whole song and dance again. This time I got connected through a "dial up" he game me. He left me to download new software from the website. That connection went down every 5-8 minutes so I couldn't get the download completed. I finally gave up. I waited until I got home to try it again. I downloaded the software off the internet, and installed it. Still no go. I tried all of the things Verizon told me to do, and at one point I thought I had it, but that lasted about another 5 minutes.

Can Someone please help, I really need this to work by Tuesday.

Hi,
Windows XP Home
SP1
IE6/Firefox
MSN (ISP)

Here's my situation....
Since purchasing my Dell computer 2 1/2 years ago I've used MSN as my ISP ($21.95/mo) on a dialup connection and now it's (about) time to move up to faster speeds.

I've been looking to switch to Broadband or DSL and since I have a qualified Verizon telephone number I am a candidate for their DSL $29.95/mo deal.

Question
Will I be able to keep my xxxx.msn.com email address or will I have to change it since I will discontinue MSN as my ISP?

(The Verizon DSL package also includes MSN Premium which I have now with my MSN ISP but, can I keep my present email addresses?)

My concern is what happens if I have to change to another email address in regards to Forums and such that use my present one for notifications, etc.
Not to mention friends and family that know my present address.
Seems like the change could carry some complications in this regard.

I've checked around the Verizon website but don't see an answer in the FAQ's or elsewhere to this particular question.

Thanks for any help,
Telstar

Many customer who had DSL long as 4 years or so havent had any I mean ANY problems like this before...

Only state havin this trouble is only Southern Californian people.

You can relate to this:

2)My speed is so slow I cant browse the Internet time to time.
3)My ping is so high on games? Why is that?
4)I cannot finnish my download because it looses connection!

Ok, I need big time help. Earlier today, our DSL modem was down, so I put my Outlook XP in "offline" mode (File->Work Offline) so that it would stop bouncing my mail. After the server came back up, I tried to put it back in online mode (disable File->Work Offline) and each time I get the following message:
The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.

I have already tried to restart outlook and also rebooted and still it won't go back "online".

Can someone please tell me how to FORCE it to go back online?

Thanks,
Melissa Clark

Try going into Internet Explorer and do File > Work Offline (uncheck). It's all connected together (Outlook and IE) If you are able to view web pages, open Outlook and you should be able to send/receive mail (though the problem is an unusual one)

This happens twice every time I log into any site - facebook, email, myspace, even this forum.

A:Outlook express will not send to Verizon

First, SMTP uses port 25 for tcp output; make sure your firewall is open for it.

Can they send to ANY client -- even you? If so, you/they may have a DNS issue.
Email uses DNS to find the IP address of the ISP SMTPD used to forward email.
It can take several name but it is always associated with the ISP Domain, eg
mail.roadrunner.com for the ISP roadrunner.com and i've seen
smtp.xxx.yyy or smtp-server.xxx.yyy

This setting is on the account Server Settings of Thunderbird ... copy it and then

get a command prompt and attempt ping xxx.yyy.zzz from that setting.

If you can't ping it, then you can send either, but this would be 100% lost,
ie can't send to anyone.

I have a client that is a Verizon customer. I think at one point she had a yahoo account. Somehow some way the accounts are merged and end up using unfamiliar incoming and outgoing servers.

I have isolated the correct incoming and outgoing servers as:

incoming.yahoo.verizon.net and outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net.

The problems I am having are emails are acting funny. She said she cannot send emails sometimes and or receive them.

I am thinking the ports. I'd have to double check on this but I want to say I set her up on port 587 as the outgoing and left the POP3 as 110. I even tested sending an email to herself and it appeared to have worked but now the issue has become intermittent.

Anybody heard of these types of issues with Verizon incoming and outgoing servers/ports?

I have been trying to find a way to connect, forward the signal, recieve the signal from my Verizon Fios wireless router up to my WGT624 V3 Netgear router.

Is there a way that I can modify my wirless port on my Netgear to recieve a signal wirelessly from my Verizon Wireless router?

My Neighbor did it once with another wireless router, but he can not remember how he did it. I am thinking it had something to do with the Firmware.

If anyone can help me with this that would be great.

I'm basically trying to push the wireless signal from my Verizon router in my basement, up to my wireless Netgear router which is recieving the signal on the main level so that I can plug my wired (non wireless) laptop into the ethernet port which is receiving wireless signal from the Verizon router in the basement in order to gain access to the internet.

Can this be done with the equipment listed above and or some additional firmware and configuration?

Thank you for all your assistance on this in advance.

Heres my situation.

I've 2 computers, one in my room, the other in my brother's room. One modem and one router (both in my brother's room). The router is linked to the modem, and both our computer is linked via the router (wired connection, not wireless).

We've just switched isp, and this new modem has a sweet feature, allow us to connect via usb, and there is another port for the traditional type of direct connection.

I was wondering if i can remove the router from the connection. What im thinking is connecting my bro's comp with the usb port (we are provided a short usb port which allows direct connection between the modem and my brother's comp), and i'll be using the other port from the modem with a 15m long cable which serves me well when connecting via router.

Question :

1) Can this be done? Connecting 2 comps to a modem without a router.

2) I've tried using a direct connection between the modem in my brother's room, and my computer, which didnt give me any connection which i do not understand, since i thought it should work like any normal direct connection, just that its room apart this time round. Could it be because i've had my router installed on my comp, which i have to delete before i can get it to work or could there be other issues.

Hi,
I didn't really know in which category this belongs to, so if I missplaced it, feel free to move it to its correct place.
But,
I recently discovered that there is a number of games that I can't play online. These include games such as Payday 2, Total War: Shogun 2 and Saints Row 4. I believe this is because I guess I have a very strict router, and so I have tried to open the ports that these games use, without much luck. Once I opened the Payday 2 port, I managed to join a few games, but not all of them. My friends game was one of those I couldn't connect to. I keep getting the message "Waiting for host to respond". I then tried to unblock annonymous internet requests, but my router wouldn't let me. As i clicked "Save Changes" the page reloaded as usual, but the checkbox for Block Annonymous Internet Requests automaticly got checked again. I really don't understand why this happens as this is my private router, which shouldn't really have any limitantions. I would really appreciate any help on this, as I would like to play with my friend while he is still home from university.

Here is some info:
Router: Cisco EPC3928AD EuroDocsis 3.0 2-PORT Voice Gateway
Payday 2 port: 9899, and it says that this port is open.

Every time I try to play madden 07 on the Ps2 online it cuts off on me. Sometimes during the first quarter or the fourth..I have never finished a game yet..on the madden 06 last year I had no problems what so ever. I still have the same hook up as before. I just recently purchased a new modem/router thinking that was the problem, but it wasn't. If anybody knows what the problem is please give me a shout back....

Hi,
i just moved to australia, and now i'm using ADSL2+ connection.
i got a problem connecting to online games, at first i thought it's a problem from the game server it self, but turns out my friends can play them normaly, so after a couple of days struggling i still can't connect to it.
here's what i've tried:
1.disable windows firewall
2.disable router firewall
3.forwarding ports
4.enabling DMZ
but turns out if i enable the DMZ, i lost my connection to the internet,
even the ISP customer service didn't know what's going on, they said if i enable the DMZ i should've been able to play any games because enabling it is the same as opening all ports.. but turns out i lost my entire connection.. so i need to disable it again in order to ask you guys..

here's one of the games ports
Port 8444 TCP,UDP
and Port 8001-8010 TCP,UDP

anyone got anysolutions for me?...
thanks before guys..

This is a multi-layered question...

First thing that has been happening for over a week is...
I get the blue screen with it saying "checking file system on c:" "type of the file system is NTFS"

As of two days ago, I am unable to connect to the internet. I checked with ISP and performed tests and they said there is nothing wrong with my connection, which is proven since I can connect with my other computer.

I have read that this could be a harddrive crashing problem or that I need a new NIC card?

Next question: if it is my hard drive crashing...how do i back up my files, also how do i back up my itunes (I have over 1000 songs on there)?
If it is in fact this NIC card thing, what is it and how do i do it?

Obviously, I'm not very computer adept.

Please help ASAP! Thank you!

A:help connecting online, plus checking file system on c:

Welcome to TSF....

Let's see if fixing the chkdsk part is going to help? Try this:

Click on the Start menu and open the run dialog.
2. Type "cmd" and return (without quotes)
3. Next type "fsutil dirty query <letter of drive that chkdsk keeps checking>" (for example, C:
4. If the returned message indicates that the volume is dirty, go to step 5
5. Next type "chkdsk <drive letter> /f /x"
If you get this below answer YES.
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? <Y/N>
6. After that finishes, repeat step 3.
7. If the volume is no longer dirty, reboot and chkdsk should not reappear.

The "fsutil dirty query" reports the current state of the flag.
"Chkdsk /f" forces Chkdsk to run whether or not the flag is dirty--- it's a way to ensure that errors are fixed, regardless of what the flag says.
"Chkdsk /x" goes a little further and helps ensure that any files that were left open get closed; it actually implies "/f" so you don't need the /f if you're using /x .
With either /f or /x, at the end of the run, Chkdsk should set the flag to clean

I'm having a maddening issue that I'm having trouble finding any information on... A lot of modern style Windows 8 apps are refusing to connect to specific services.
A couple of examples:
MetroTwit - The app opens and offers a "Sign in with a Twitter account" button. Clicking the button shows the app attempting to connect to twitter, then it goes back to the button.
Pulse - A news reading app, asks me to sign in with Facebook, but the button does nothing.
Cumulo - An app designed to connect to various cloud storage providers. It asks me to add services, but clicking any of the options yields no results.
Zipwhip - An app to sync SMS messages with my Android phone. Live tile and notifications work fine. Opening the app shows up-to-date information, but information will not update while I am inside the app.
News Bento - News reading app, works flawlessly. However choosing the option of signing in to Facebook or Google reader does exactly nothing.

At first I thought these may have been issues with the individual apps, but I have more examples than I've listed here, so the problem is widespread. A pattern seems to be emerging which makes it look like a security setting somewhere is messing things up, but I don't know where to look.
Mail, People and Calendars work fine. UAC is enabled. I've also run the app troubleshooter (AppsDiagnostic.diagcab) linked from this Microsoft article with no success. This has been going on for a while now, and I'm anxious to get it solved, ... Read more

On my old computer, I had Windows 98 and one icon on my desktop which if I clicked on it, it would automatically dial up my ISP and then open my home page. I now have a newer computer with XP and would like to have the same function on this comuter. Right now, I have to do the following to get online:

Start - click connect - click "MY Dial-up ISP" - then a Dial up box opens and it requires me to click "Dial" and then it gets me online. I now have to click on the IE icon to open my start page.

Is there a way to combine all this into my IE icon so one click will work like my old computer?

A:Solved: One click for connecting online with dial up ISP

This is at school, using high speed connecting via ethernet CAT5 cable. I was told I need to disable network bridging to get online? I dont know what this is, but someone said its some long distance dialer thingy. It came on my laptop preloaded so...

So how do I do this? Go to network in control panel?

I was told I need to be able to see TCP/IP showing up when I go to the network connections properties.

A:Network bridging preventing me from connecting online on laptop

that PC has a built in LAN.
so you should be able to plug the cat5 cable into the lan connector on laptop to gain access to network.

you will also need to goto network connections> lan>properties> see if it has TCP/IP in there.

Hello good people,

// Disclaimer: I really tried to find the answer to my problem on the forum as well as on google, but did not succeed, thus this post. Hope someone can somehow figure out what the problem is, since I got no idea anymore what to try. //
The Problem:
Problems connecting to different services and an online game. Examples:
1.) "Connection timed out" in Teamspeak 2. (debug log not really yielding much useful information).
2.) Torchlight 2 reported "Connection failed - Firewall errors detected."
- almost all other online applications work just fine (including voice over ip and games)

What I've tried (without any success):
1.) I could connect in either case using my old laptop! Thus it works on a different computer, from the same network, at the same/similar time. Thus I concluded it must be somehow related to this laptop (its a new laptop).
2.) The TS2 server & entered information is 100% working, same applies to torchlight2 - also latest updates installed and of course the game is totally legal.
3.) Windows firewall: all the mentioned programs are on the allowed list. Also check whether its correctly set to "home network". Futhermore I also tried disabling the windows firewall entirely.
4.) No other firewall program in use.
5.) Check all programs I know of which might be related to network traffic (e.g. Qualcomm Atheros Killer Network Manager - disabled it).
6.) Tried both, wireless and ethernet cable connection.

Can someone tell me how to remove this from my computer??? Every few days I get a box that pops up with a red circle white X and says :

"Cant find script engine "VBScript" for script "C:\Program files(x86)\Verizon\IHA_MessageCenter\CmdVBS.vbs".

A computer repair person for the place where I work said this to me "According to Verizon's website, just delete the C:\Program files(x86)\Verizon\IHA_MessageCenter folder and the problem should go away."

Unfortunately I myself did not see this anywhere on the verizon sites.and I cannot afford to pay him to remove it..Also I did not understand or know how to "delete" this...he said its not as simple as going to the uninstall/add/remove programs.

So can anyone tell me in the easiest way how to delete this?

Are you using the Verizon service? If not, is it listed in Programs and Features? If so, uninstall it. If it still persists, we can address that later.

Ok, here we go. I use Live Mail. I understand Verizon has stopped using Port 25 to block spam. The port to use is 587. Of course when I send email via Verizon.net with outgoing port 587 there is no issue. If I contact my work server to send mail I get the message noted below. Keep in mind that Verizon in their wonderful way of making cash advises that static IP addresses do not need to change to port 587. Port 25 is dandy. However....residentual FIOS connections are dynamic IP address and therefore need to use port 587. No good. No good for my coworker also on FIOS. He is also on DSL from Verizon at another home of his. Now this was not like this from jump street. Our emails have been working and only just quit last week. I called Verizon support only to be told to call MS. Sweet huh?

Cannot connect to hotmail (outlook.com) via Outlook 2007 since Saturday 1st Feb. Message says server not connected. (Normally uses Outlook Connector to connect). Hotmail/outlook.com accounts are setup as MAPI.

All other non-hotmail/non-outlook.com accounts in Outlook 2007 working OK.

Hotmail/outlook.com accounts are accessible via a webserver, and even accessible via Outlook 2007 if setup as POP3/IMAP.

I have many subfolders in the Hotmail/outlook.com accounts that are automatically syncronised when connected, and can be accessed when offline, but are also accessible when accessing Hotmail/outlook.com via the web from another PC. But when setup as POP3/IMAP accounts only the Inbox folder is synchronsed with Outlook 2007.

Can anyone help as to why Outlook 2007 is not connecting to the Hotmail/outlook.com accounts anymore via the Outlook Connector? Alternatively, can all the other folders synchronise automatically if I set the Hotmail/outlook.com accounts as POP3/IMAP?

Thanks. Any help appreciated.

Hi Everybody!
I was wondering if I could get some help... I have had Outlook Express for a while, and whenever I end up doing a system recovery or something, my outgoing server either STOPS working, or STARTS working, even though I really change nothing. I have one e-mail address I use, it is under verizon.net. My servers are:

incoming.verizon.net
outgoing.verizon.net (i've also tried the other smpt.outgoing.verizon.net (if that's correct)).

Nothing has worked. I can receive e-mails, but whenever I want to send an e-mail, I have to go straight to the verizon.net website, and copy & paste the subject, the e-mail address, and the e-mail itself. Can anybody help? I am really lost, I've looked every where for a solution! I just want some ease in sending my e-mails & receiving them ALL with Outlook Express.

I use DSL (with verizon).

Thanks in advance!

I have seen and heard from my computer magazines, and articles on the web that Outlook has virus leaks and also has junk mail issues.
I use outlook with AOL IMAP. I really like it. It seems easy to me.
I have Yahoo, AOL, and GMAIL accounts. Also, my local cable company provides an email account that I have.

Am I best off just using one of the online emails? And getting rid of Outlook?
If so, is there an opinion of which is best?

One thing i like now is when I click on a email address on a website it opens with outlook and I can just write the email.
Is this a capability with one of these other services?
For example; click on an email address and my aol account opens up on my default browser?

Thank You for any insight on this,
Michael

what is the difference between outlook and a web based email?
thanks

A:Online Email Vs Outlook

Outlook/express is what's called a POP3 client, meaning it's a standalone application that retrieves and sends email by contacting a remote server that you specify, usually the one provided by your ISP.

Webmail works muchly the same way, only the interface is built into a web page, and it usually only accesses the email of the server it belongs to, (yahoo to yahoo, hotmail to hotmail, etc).

I can access my emails virtually anywhere because my email supplier provides web access. Far easier, though, is to use MS Outlook. In fact I have Outlook installed on my office desktop and a laptop.

Desktop access seems to work fine, but every time I fire up Outlook on the laptop the application 'siphons' off all my inbox messages from the desktop machine as well as the email supplier's server. This is irritating since I often want to access an email multiple times on whichever machine I am nearest.

I suspect it's a settings problem, but for the life of me can't figure out which. Anyone have any ideas?

A:Outlook clears out my online inbox

Hi and welcome to TSG.

There should be an option in Outlook's individual account's advanced incoming server settings to leave received messages on the server. If you have a very large storage quota on the server, you can leave them on the server indefinitely. Let us know exactly what version of Outlook you are running if you need detailed instructions.

acinch said:

Are you saying that receiving messages on the laptop is removing messages that have previously been downloaded to the desktop's inbox or is it just pulling new messages off the server before the desktop has a chance to receive them?

I'm not having problems, more of a question.

I understand that Outlook 2003 downloads messages to the local client machine when it connects to an exchange server. That way if the server is down you can still work on email.

However I'm connecting to email on my home machine and work machine, and if I delete a message on one machine, it's still there on the other machine. It makes it real difficult to manage.

Is there a setting I can choose that will allow me to force a real sync? Or can I turn the offline thing off?

A:Outlook 2003 - Online/Offline

Looks like 2003 has the same as previous versions: Offline folder files (*.ost).

Try the help on it.
Also, try Tools-Services (dunno if it's still there in 2003), and see if you can ADD an offline folder file. THAT's how they're supposed to work...ideal for a laptop you use at home and work.

After going through upgrade to Exchange 2013, Win 8.1 users cannot get Outlook connected to Exchange when using VPN. There is alot out there with similar problems, but so far I have been unable to nail this down. Clients are connecting to a Fortigate VPN
gateway. Users are on Outlook 2010.
I am posting here because users of Win 7 do not have this issue.
Interestingly, if I go into Outlook profile setup and select SSL and check only connect to servers with principal name... and specify Msstd:server.domain.local, Outlook will connect. Unfortunately the setting gets overwritten by autodiscover to no values
and the next time Outlook is launched it will just sit there with "trying to connect" message.
I think I have checked pretty much everything I can (without making any Exchange changes) that I have seen in numerous other threads with similar issues, but I am not finding anything that works so far.
So what I have seen, Win 7 + Outlook 2010 over VPN operates fine. Win 8.1 + Outlook 2010 over VPN cannot connect to Exchange.
Anyone have any ideas?

The only thing I changed was I added a newsgroup account and have been browsing some newsgroups. I saw on a website that the fix for it is to find and delete the "pop3uidl" file while OE is closed, then reopen it. I tried this, but it didn't fix it. Any ideas?

Long story short. On my 2nd computer i had to put windows xp back on it. I went over the exisiting version and use the Repair option during setup that basically replaced core files ect.. That fixed all my problems but it cause 1 other problem.
After i updated, installed panda platnium 7. ect..

I clicked on my microsoft office xp outlook. I click send/receive i get an error. Prety much when i try the test, the test connects to my outgoing/incomig mail servers. I can send email but cant receive.

Ive tried the folowing:

Uninstalled panada antivirus/firewall
turned off microsoft sp2 firewall
configured ms sp2 fire wall to allow outlook as an exception along with ms messenger sharing.

All my information is correct for it. cause i can connect on my laptop but not on this computer.

I have no firewalls on, no background programs runnings (when i check proccess list just basic windows programs).
I dont know what else i can be that is stopping microsoft office outlook from receiving emails.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

In Outlook.com I want to un-connect one email account from another.

I had connected “B” to “A” successfully. When I’m on the Outlook.com web interface, “B” sits inside of “A”. It sits the same way on my home PC when I’m in Microsoft Office Outlook 2013.

Later I realized I wanted it to be a separate account on the web interface (I know I’d have to log into it separately) and also sit by itself as a separate account in my home PC’s Outlook 2013 (I know I’d have to add it as a new email account).

Now, when I log into “A” on the web, the gear/options path does not show me a “connected accounts” option. I also can’t find anything in the full options list regarding connected accounts. The web interface for the “A” account has a blue bar at the top and is called “Outlook.com.”

When I log into the “B” account the interface has a black bar at the top and is called Outlook Mail. There, in the gear/options path, I do see “connected accounts” but my two connected accounts don’t appear.

I don’t understand why the interfaces are different for both accounts. They are both “***@outlook.com” addresses. Also not sure if that has anything to do with it. In any case I’m not sure where to go in order to un-connect or separate the two accounts. Can you help?

Thanks!

What are the pro's/con's of converting my offline email account to an online account? It seems like I tried this once before when I received a new smartphone but it caused lots of issues with duplicated calendar and contact entries or something of the sort. A:Outlook problems. Online but cannot send/rcv emails

ISP mail? If so, who is your ISP?If not ISP mail, what email domain is having the issue? Please do this:Open up Outlook and attempt to send an email. If you get an error message when sending post the entire error. If your email name is part of the error, xxx it out but leave the @whereever.com/net, etc.Next use the RECEIVE function of Outlook (I don't know anything about Outlook but I assume there is one). Once again, if you get an error when doing this post the error message.Usually the error message and error number if there is one will contain clues as to what the problem is.

I hope you guys can help me. I just had to start up a new computer. I started with XP and Office 2003. Of course I have to reset all the stuff you take for granted every day. I use Outlook and Internet Explorer. I am used to them, comfortable with them and like them so please don't recommend changing to Firefox, etc. I need an issue fixed that I think should be fairly easy, but I sure can't figure it out.

One issue that I cannot figure out is linking to URL's from Outlook... I get a lot of forum notifications from different forums and every time I hit a link it opens a new window instead of viewing in the one that is already open.

I have made sure that "Reuse Windows for laucnhing shortcuts" is checked in IE.

I have also done this:
Close IE and Outlook 2003,
Open "My computer"-> “Control Panel” ->"Tools"-> "Folder Options..."
Select the "File Types" tab,
Scroll to "HTML" click on "Advanced"
Select "Open" from the list of actions, then press "Edit..."
In there you will see "WWW_OpenURLNewWindow" in the use DDE section
Change this to "WWW_OpenURL" and outlook will reuse the open browser

This did not fix anything. I unclicked use DDE. That didn't fix anything.

Can anyone help me? I can't imagine that I am the only one having this same issue. In reply, be aware I am a computer dummy so respond accordingly. I won't be insu... Read more

So Outlook has been acting funny for my boss. He's complaining that a few things are sent and received but not all of it.

Right now the send/receive process has been running for about 10 minutes and when I click on details I get the above message. When I log on to the email online everything seems to be ok so I know this is a problem with the Outlook program itself. The op is Windows XP Professional.

I have 2 relatively new Laptops... a Dell and an HP that both connect to an Exchange Server at my job via Outlook Anywhere. Both were working fine until just over a week ago when suddenly they could no longer connect via Outlook Anywhere but Outlook works fine if I first open a VPN to the office.

The whole point of using Outlook Anywhere is that you don't need a VPN but for some reason my 2 laptops running Windows 7 sp1 will no longer connect. I took an old XP laptop and set it up identical to the Windows 7 machines and it connects via Outlook Anywhere with no problem.

I've recreated the profiles but that did not fix the problem. I've run system restores on both machines back to a time when they could connect and that didn't solve the problem either. It is as if Windows 7 has developed a problem with Outlook Anywhere and nothing I have done has fixed it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Good Day.

I have a client for whom I am designing a website. Now I moved his domain from one ISP/host provider to another.
He deleted his email account in Outlook and tried to add it again, but it keeps failing. I tried both pop3 and imap, but none works:

Here's the tricky part: I used the EXACT same settings in Outlook on MY PC, and it connects fine, everytime. Why wouldn't his Outlook connect to the mail server, but mine does? I don't suppose it is a firewall since he has 2 other mail accounts on Outlook that works fine(the 2 other accounts are on a different domain.) As I said, I tried deleting the account and added it again, but nothing (I do NOT use SSL and I also made sure the settings was not for secure mail.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

PROBLEM FIXED: Don't know why but Outlook Connector just started working again. Delete this post.
Using XP SP3, Firefox and occasionally IE8.

I have been using Outlook Connector to bring 3 hotmail accounts into Microsoft Outlook 2007 for years. I noticed today that for the last 4-5 hours, Outlook Connector is not connecting with the server.

I completely deleted and re-installed the lastest version of Outlook Connector (which is what I already had) but that still did not work.

I have deleted the 3 hotmail accounts using Outlook with the idea that I would add them again, however, nothing is connecting to the server. Even if it connects to the server, it will NOT accept my password which is the same one I have used for many years (I know . . . bad practice).

I am able to see new messages using Windows Live Mail and Hotmail.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have one laptop that is working fine, but the other prompts me for a password, one I have been using for years.
I have to enter the password a couple times.
And then I get a message that Outlook Connector is not open.
I have to go to MSN and Hotmail to see my emails.
Did you get any response on this?

Hi there,

I have just joined this forum and hope someone can help. I am having problems with IE8 working initially, then after a short while it does not seem to be able to connect to any site, even though I know the connection to the internet is good because I have sent myself an e-mail using Outlook to verify my internet connection. However, I also have the same problem with Outlook as well where suddenly when I try to send an e-mail it say it cannot connect to the server for one reason or another.
I downloaded Mozilla Firefox to see if a new browser would cure the problem, but the same thing happened. The only way I seem to be able to cure the fault is to re-boot the computer only to find after a while the problem repeats itself.
I have been reading other peoples problems which are similar and one response was to download HiJack this and produce a report which I have done.
If you think this is the way to go regarding the problem, then I can reply with the text file generated from HiJack this.

I am using an HP Pavilion tx2000 laptop with Vista Home Premium and 2Gb of Ram.

Your help appreciated

Really hope I can get some help!

We are currently using Outlook for mail and each computer has about 5/6 Email accounts added to it as POP as we run several companies.

We are looking for an online alternative so that people can check their mail from home etc.

I have checked several different online systems such as outlook.com and Gmail but they all seem to want me to add MX entries and prove ownership!

I just want something that allows me to add accounts exactly like Microsoft Outlook. So i can just add accounts add the mail settings and then be able to send and receive mail from the account.

All of our mail systems are setup in cPanel with out host, so i do litterally want it to work like Microsoft Outlook works.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

What is set in Control Panel ==> Default Programs ==> Associate a file type or protocol
for Protocol MAILTO (protocols are all the way down after file types)

and what is set in Control Panel ==> Default Programs ==> Set your default programs ==> Outlook
are all of the defaults set? "This program has all its defaults"

You might want to compare your settings against one of the machines that doesn't have the problem.

Hi all,

I know this is the general discussion, but I cant find my specific problem anywhere else. So, let me spit this out, I have been having a lot of hi-jack issues over the last few months. My lap top is secure an nothing is going to get in, however it is when I log in on to the www, that's where the problem starts.

A good example is that yesterday Microsoft hacked my outlook account, now why would they do that, these are people you trust. I changed my password based on their suggestion, then I could not get in again.

Long story short I managed to change the password (A very complex one) I am getting very good at this lol, but the issue is that I have justifiable proof that its from Redmond. I have their IP.

This evening, i logged into outlook, and the sight said its the wrong password. I use lastpass. so instead of going through the link, I copied the PW and got into the site. Go figure.

I want to report this, but they dont have a complaints department or telephone number. Anything close to what you require... their answer is to change the password. I give up.

Can someone assist?

I have seen this asked a number of times, and quite a few were solved. I went through about 10 posts so far on this subject. I have a Windows XP network with 6 computers hardwired and several laptops on wireless. All the computers are networked together with no problems sharing files, printers and scanners, most are online with our Telus Internet.
One of the hardwired computers refuses to connect to the internet. I have checked IP addresses for conflicts, released and renewed the IP, rebooted several times and pinged every other computer successfully on the network (including the hub). I even removed Microsoft Security essentials as one solved solution said that Virus protection might solve a problem. I had installed it by downloading the setup on another computer and moving it with a thumb drive..
The computers all have a fresh install of Windows XP and MS Security Essentials is the only Virus protection on all of them. It still will not connect and it is very frustrating.
