Q: Microsoft Word 2003 macro print

Hello,

I currently have about 30,000 lines of macros. Occasionally the people I work for want an updated list of all the macros in that file (most are user specific) so that they know what macros they have and if then need a different one or edit a current one.

What have been looking for is a way to print the names of the macros only, and not the entire marco file/code.

the first macro looks something like this..

What i have been looking for is a way to print a list of the macros but not the macro themselves.

IE.. I wold like it to print out...

Dr. H's Supartz Macro.

so on and so forth with all 375 macros printed.

Is there a way to do this? I would be most appreciative for any clue as to how to do this.

Whenever I try to open a saved Word document (or even a PowerPoint), the file doesn't open and I get the following message:

"The file ____ is not available.
You may be encountering this message because an anti-virus program is not allowing the file to open. This can be caused by one of two conditions. Either the anti-virus program needs to be updated (due to a compability problem with this application) or there is a virus in the file but the anti-virus program cannot properly remove or process the virus it has found....etc."

Then when I close the document, I get the following message:
"The file Normal already exists. Do you want to replace the existing file?"

I've tried deleting the file. I've restarted my computer, deleted "normal.dot" through my computer's search engine, and then opening word. I've tried renaming the file to "normal.old", and followed the instructions after that like I found on a website.
Also, I went to Tools > Macro > Macros and gone to the "Macros in" list, clicked "All active templates and documents", but there weren't any macros listed there.

I tried using the Macro Organizer, and there weren't any macros listed there either.

Many websites suggested that I open the file through MS word and then hold shift before opening it. When I try to open a file, it just says that it isn't available.

Oh, and I'm running on Windows Vista.

problem:
i need to open my company logo which was saved in microsoft office word 97-2003 - my new program is microsoft works word processor - i have tried saving it in different formats on my old computer but nothing seems to be working....

I have been beating my head against a wall trying to get word to call and run a macro that I have created before printing. I have tried to even see about getting a simple message box to appear before doing "File-->Print" or even "CTRL+P" and nothing happens... HELP!!!

I have a large file that I print many times and there are some pages included in the list that are not needed and I throw away every time.

Other than print twice, I'm sure there is a macro that can be programmed to skip those pages, or maybe a macro to link the two print ranges.

Can anyone get me started?

Hi. Operating system is windows xp. Using word 2003. Question:I am attempting to open a document (that has been unzipped with winzip) that has a macro (I assume) that was created by another person. I can open the document, but the macro won't work in it. I get a message that asks me to activate or not activate macros. For example, I am opening a document created by someone else so I can type a clinic note for a patient. When the document opens, the top has a category that says Clinic/hospital =. After the equal it should say the name of the clinic. All I see is {document property/company name/*mergeformat} . I can see the actual information if I click on print preview or if I actually print out the document, but I want to be able to see it on my screen. I have clicked on view normal, print layout, and reading layout, but that doesn't help. Any suggestions. I am thinking it is a setting when word was configured, but its making me crazy...Thanks for the help...

A:macro help for word 2003

It sounds like your security settings in Word may be set to HIGH, go to the TOOLS menu and select Macro>Security. make sure Medium or LOW is selected.

Medium will ask you to ENABLE macros whenever a book with macro's is opened and LOW will not ask you. High will Prevent them from working.

We have a word template that we want to stick out there for a bunch of Doctors to use. We have created a Macro that will allow them to enter their information and print then close without saving..this allows different doctors to use the same template each time. However, we can not put it on the 6 pc's we have in "All Users" "Desktops" and have it work properly because it comes up that the Macros have been disabled. We need to make this document available to everyone to use but still have our controls in place..How can we make this Macro work properly regradless of who logs on to that pc?

Hi,

I am trying to write a macro for MS Word 2003 to add a new row to an existing table. This table contains a column row (each column contains a heading) and one row below it. This row contains drop down menus for three of the columns in the row.

I would like a button on word. When this button is pressed, it adds another row below the existing row with the same drop down menu's appearing for the same columns. I would also like a button for formatting the text. When this button is pressed, it formats the text in the table rows to Arial 10 (excludes the columns with the drop down menu's) Anyway this can be done besides recording the macro which doesn't produce the desirable result?

I have created in Microsoft Word 2003 on an XP OS some lengthy documents. I created them using a view setting of 150%.

I sent them to my employer, who is using Windows 98 and Microsoft Word 97. My boss opened them with his system and they displayed on the screen at a view of 200%. He wants me to send him Word documents that he can open from the CD-R that I send that will automatically display at 100% view on the screen so that he does not have to set the view for each document as it displays.

So what is the answer.

Is there a way that I can save my created documents so that when my boss gets them on a CD-R that they will open on his system at a view setting of 100%.

Is there also a way that his system can be set to default to 100% in reading from the CD-R.

My boss does not want to copy the documents to the system hard disk from my sent CD-R, preferring to read and copy directly from the CD-R that I send, so that the original documents will not accidentally be changed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Copy what is inside of [] and store that as a Temp value

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know the easiest way of adding a macro button to a Word document, which will insert a specific word or line of text when clicked?

I have a table in Word 2003, which I need to update with information regularly. The final column just has the word(s) "Activity Complete" or "Work Ongoing" in each cell, but it's annoying having to type this every time, or copy and paste it. Ideally, I would like a button for each, which I can just click and the text will be inserted wherever my cursor is.

I am presuming some sort of VB code is required, as I've tried to set up a macro using the record procedure but it didn't work.

Can anyone help me with this? I don't really have any experience of writing VB code so I don't know where to start!

I'm running Word 2003 under Windows XP on an old hand-me-down Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop.

This morning I decided to experiment and try to record a macro in Word 2003. To my surprise the macro worked on the first try.

So then I wanted to back up the macro to a flash drive. I thought the instructions told me that my macros would be saved in a file named normal.dot.

But when I searched for that file on my hard drive, the only one that turned up said it was "modified" on March 19, 2014. Well, today is March 20, 2015, so that file was last modified a year ago. So, I'm trying to figure out where my new macro is stored so I can make a back-up copy of the file.

Using XP OS, Word 2003 here,

Bascially I'm taking reports from Access (2003) and exporting to word. When I do this, they always look like the attatched document.

Basically I want it to not look so darn ugly with giant gaps between paragraphs and a crapload of new lines at the end of every line.

Any ideas?

I am hoping someone can help me here - I am trying to create a macro that prints Current Page based on specific text. I found script from 3 years ago (on this forum) that works nearly perfectly for us with only minor formatting adjustments. I'll post that below, but first want to explain the one change I am trying to make (you'll see I know little about Macros...)

The script below searches in text boxes, I need it to just search the document, not confined to text boxes. We have a series of letters that are generated automatically and then later sent to clients. These are generated in massive numbers, and we only print out the ones that come from our locations (7 in total). Right now we have to eyeball to see which ones we will print, but I know we can build a macro that will do it.

Here is the script I am basing working off of, which I called sort:

(The first part just sets margins to narrow, please ignore, it's the second part where I want to break away from the Text Box requirement and just look at the text within the document, and if it matches, print that page. I appreciate any help with this

Which almost has the solution to my problem except that the problem solved was making a macro run just before saving and I want to make a macro run just before printing.

I tried what I thought was obvious (changing App_DocumentBeforeSave to App_DocumentPrintBefore) but I get an error message: "Compile error: Procedure declaration does not match description of event or procedure having the same name".

But I cannot see what else to change... I thought Rollin_Again could probably help as he solved the original problem. His "before saving" example works fine for me.

Thanks for any help possible and sorry if this message is not in the right place.

Just follow the same instruction I posted in the previous thread but replace the code in the class module with the code below. The DocumentBeforeSave procedure has an extra argument that is not needed with the DocumentBeforePrint event.

Was wondering if anyone could offer a bit of help on this one - it's been a while since I've worked on macros and I'm struggling to find anything close to this online.

I've got a whole bunch of documents that contain text strings, such as ~[name], ~[gender] etc. These letters are being migrated to a new system that uses MS Word mail merge and as such, I need to convert these from just text place holders into Mail Merge fields. Macroing turning the document into a MM is easy, but it's the replacement I'm having an issue with. They map across to different things so I appreciate I'd have to set what each one would map to, but I'm having trouble since Find and Replace won't insert mail merge fields.

So for instance, I might want to replace all instances of ~[gender] in document with a proper mailmege field of <<sex>>, and then repeat that for 30 or 40 other fields in the letters.

I appreciate this is a bit of an ask, but if anyone has a sec I'd really appreciate it

Hello,

I am looking to prepare a report comprised of docuemnts sent to various units of the business. All units were instructed to use 'Track Changes' in Word, and I would now like create a Macro that will only reject changes the correspond to formatting (ex. font size, spacing, etc.).

I have a macro that was created previously for similar documents, but was not properly tested on documents that had a large number of changes. Now running the macro with documents completely freezes the file and does not execute as desired. Here is the macro currently being used:

We have recently created a standard complany letter with macros to provide list boxes for our names, job titles etc. We have got the standard company address etc. locked to prevent them from being changed by users and to allow us to tab through the document to the list boxes and editable areas.

The problem is that we can't seem to be able to run a spell check on the document whilst it is locked. Is this unavoidable or is there some way around it? The person who created the document is new to macros so she has not guaranteed that she hasn't done something wrong when creating it.

Any ideas?

I have a folder full of files that I want to convert from Word 07-10 (*.docx) format to Word 97-03 (*.doc) format so I can copy them to an old PDA and view them from there. In the absence of finding a good converter (there aren't a lot of people wanting to go backwards), I have been trying to use a Macro. I found some code on a previous post in this forum and tried to modify it using some code I recorded in Word, but it keeps giving me errors or otherwise does nothing at all. Any suggestions or corrections would he great. I think only the first two peramaters under "SaveAs2" are necessary for my purposes (FileName & FileFormat) but I let the others for the recording in in case Word needed them.

I recorded a Word 2003 macro to do the following:

1) Locate the next graphic (which is formatted "inline") in a document
2) Navigate to some text adjacent to the graphic
3) Cut the text to the clipboard
4) Insert a caption pasting the clipboard contents to become the text of the caption

The macro runs correctly except that it fails to record the pasting of text in step 4. The first time it runs the clipboard contains the correct text (which for the example used in this post is $$Image A$$) and that is pasted into the insert caption dialog box correctly. But when the macro runs the second time, with the cursor between the first and second graphics, although it places the second text block in the clipboard, the text from the first caption is incorrectly used in the second caption. In subsequent runs of the macro all captions are set with the incorrect $$Image A$$ text. The clipboard has the correct text (verified by pasting elsewhere) which fails to get pasted into the caption dialog box.

Although I am a VBA novice, I can see from the last line of the macro in the VBA Editor that the Title field has recorded the first caption rather than a paste command. Here's that last line:

Hi,
I'm trying to insert a ton of images in Word 2003 and provide a caption for each of these images. I'm trying to come up with a macro that will insert the images but most importantly, to provide a caption for each of them. I have a text file with an array of names for each of the images (in the same order as the images). Could someone give me some guidance as how to insert the caption for each image with the title of the caption matching the name in the array file? .

Operating System: Windows 98
Application: Microsoft Word 2000

When attempting to save a document using the "Save" or "Save As" command under "File" I receive the following error on 3 of our company computers:

The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your macro security settings.

I've tried High, Medium, and Low macro security settings (currently on Low), but none of these resolve the issue. I've run a repair and completely uninstalled, run a registry cleaner, and reinstalled the application with the same error. The only way I've ever been able to get rid of this error is with a complete reinstallation of the OS and all apps. More often than not it eventually reappears.

Is there anyone that can help with this issue...? Thanks...

Somebody's got a macro in their normal.dot file most likely. Try renaming normal.dot on one of the PCs. If it works, do it on the other two.

To rename normal.dot follow the directions in Step 3 of Word troubleshooting at:

That's the funny part, Dave. normal.dot is NOT replaced on a reinstall!

I am using Excel 2003 to create a database of hyperlinks to different paragraphs and then through the use of a macro I can create word documents. I inherited this macro from a different department and want to customize it for my needs. That being said I have no idea how to edit a macro this large and complex. What's the best way for me to post the macro and my questions, through email, message through this site, post it in this window? The macro is about 15 pages in length. Thanks.

First, welcome to the forum!!!

The best way for one of the Excel gurus to work on your problem would be to post your file, after you have removed any confidential data (make a copy and do the editing in it). If it is too large, zip it first (and zip is preferred to rar).
If you are unable to post the file (there seems to be a problem at times with people who don't have very many posts being able to attach files) just send me an email via my profile (include the URL link to this thread). I will respond to you and then you can send it to me, after which I will post it for you.

Hello Everyone-

I am relatively new to the world of Visual Basics but understand the concept. I am trying to create a document in Word 2007 that will be used in Word 2003. The document resembles an online blog format. (Copy Attached)

The user makes a text entry in a designated text box, the text is then copied to the second page where the date, time and username are automatically entered. The most current entry is always entered on top.

My two questions are:

Question 1: How do I assign a macro named "Comments" to a command button named "EnterComments" through VBA?

Question 2: How would I create a dialog box that would appear during the above macro? I would like it to state "Please enter your first and last name" and have a place to make the entry within the same dialog box? (Forced formatting is not necessary) The point I would like this to happen would be at the following line: Selection.TypeText Text:=" NAME"

As far as assigning the macro to the button, you simply need to double click on the button in design view to bring up the button click event where you can place your desired code. You can also access the button click event by right clicking the button and choose VIEW CODE.

Breakdown:

Windows XP SP3, Office 2003 Standard w/SP3 in a Windows domain environment.
All printers installed are connected to a Windows Server 2000 print server.

Issue:
Word 2003 suddenly lost all print function. No changes where made to the
system. If I click on File/Print? the print options dialog box does not pop
up. I can click on the print button in the toolbar (it highlights and is
clickable) but nothing happens. I can perform a print preview and attempt to
print but with the same issues.

I can click on Start/Printers and Faxes and print a test page. I can click
on the Adobe add-in button and convert it to a PDF and print the document
from Adobe. I can print from Excel, notepad, WordPad, Adobe and even IE7 if I
wanted to, just not Word (Outlook included because Word is the default email
editor).

Attempted fixes:
Delete normal.dot, delete normal.dot and excel1.xlb (seen this restore
functionality before), checked for any disabled items and found none,
performed a repair installation, performed a complete reinstall of Office
2003, logged in using a different user account using different printers, all
with no luck.

Suggestions appreciated....

Hi there

I am an IT professional and expert but I have to admit I'm stumped with this problem.

I cannot print to my Xerox Phaser 6280DN PS using Word 2003, Excel 2003, Firefox. Other packages do print, including Wordpad and Acrobat. The OS is Windows 7 64bit, the printer driver is from Microsoft's 'get a driver for W7 64' page.

The printer is connected to my LAN and no other computer on the LAN has a problem. Previous to the install (fresh) of Windows 7 64bit, Windows XP had no problems printing from anything.

Actually, I can't get Word to print on any of the print-like devices listed, including the MS XPS Document writer and Cute PDF writer.

I've googled til I'm blue in the face for months and months.

I do suspect this is a security issue and something to do with user rights, although my account has admin rights.

Please, someone, save me from the misery of converting everything to rtf and printing through wordpad!

HI. We have having issues with Xerox copiers also. It seems that with windows 7 the print driver must be certified otherwaise you get prompted for admin rights. Under server 2008 there is a GPO which is called point and print that is meant to take away the prompting but I couldn't get it to work [and judging by the google responses, nobody else could] I have noticed that some of the Xerox drivers we have tried are certified but the certificate has expired which makes me wonder if Xerox are hacking certified drivers about.

Hi,

I have a contract (I'm using MS Word 2010 but have a 2003 document) that I need to extract the 'defined terms' from and write to another file. That is to say, the words that are capitalised that are not the first word of a sentence. The entire document needs to be searched.

Sometimes a defined term has more than one word, for example, "Service Measures". In this instance I would ideally like "Service Measures" to be found rather than two results: "Service" and "Measures".

I have found the following wildcard search that finds words that begin with capitals that are not at the start of a sentence however this also returns the two preceding characters of the word:

[!.\!\?] <[A-Z][A-z0-9]{1,}>

However I am not sure how to:
a) export the return of the search to another document (to generate and build a list of defined terms)
b) delete the two preceding characters to just leave the capitalised words
c) run the macro for the entire document
d) edit the macro to group immediately subsequent words together (eg the "Service Measure" example above)

Any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated!

I used to have Works and I used it to print envelopes. Now I have Office Word 2003 and cannot get an envelope to print.

I type in my return address, for envelopes where I just want a return address, and I pick the picture that shows the envelope with the front down and the flap pointing to the right. That's how I put my envelope in the printer.

Then I click Print and the envelope goes about halfway in and stops. I click on the X on my HP printer to make it come out and it does, blank.

How can I get an envelope printed in MS Office Word 2003?

Hi,

A couple of machines in the office have recently upgraded to word 2003 and the printing macros for these machines are working intermittently. I have looked through the code but canít see anything obvious, and I havenít had much experience with word 2003.

The macro takes the computer name and a printer tray name stored in a text file and passes them through the macro to print out on the respective trays. i.e. intTray3 is Tray3.

I am trying to add a few screen shots for a document.
I am having problems utilizing the Print Screen function and pasting it into a new Word document. As I press Ctrl-V nothing appears to be pasted until I click the Enter button and the image I pasted finally appears. In the document, if i click on this invisible image, I see the borders of the print screen image highlighted, but still not viewable.

I haven't touched the Tools - Options setting, default settings should be selected. I passed the document on to a co-worker to see if she could see it and with luck, she could see the screen shot I pasted. She was also able to perform the same functions I am having problems with..so I guess it' has to be something with my settings?...

I am using Word 2003--I use all office 2003 applications for work. I thought by closing out of Outlook would help by concentrating on one Task/application, but that didn't help.

More than likely your memory is your issue. You do not have much and if you are rendering lots of images it eats up your computers memory. I have seen this also happen with low-end video cards as well. It has issues rendering or displaying them. Typically if you minimize and maximize you can then see the image. I have not tried the hit enter afterwards though.

Hello please can someone help - this is driving us all mad! On one of our PC's running Word 2003, whenever we try and type a new document - it looks fine on the screen, but when you print, or do print preview, it spaces the text out so that it fills the whole screen creating huges gaps in the text. We have checked everything - page setup, line spacing etc and have even uninstalled and re-installed both Office and the printer. We can however open and print existing documents without a problem! How can we fix this???? Thanks

Deactivate any Word add-ins and try again.
Scan your PC for any virus, troja, adware or spyware.

If you're still having the issue, try turning off background printing in Word.

In Word 2007:
Office icon > Word Options > Advanced
In the Print section, uncheck Print in background

In Word 2003:
Tools > Options > Print
In the Printing options section, uncheck Background printing.

I am trying to print a word document from my desktop but when I do I get an error message saying 'no printers are installed.' There are however 3 printers installed in addition to the virtual printers such as PDF ect. If I open the same document in Adobe reader or acrobat as a PDF I can print it. I have been used to using Word 97, but the company has upgraded me to 2003. I am using the Print Layout to create my documents, and when I create a hyperlink, the hyperlink shows up in underlined blue, but it won't work. It will work if I view the document in Reading Layout, but that doesn't do me any good, since that layout does'nt look anything like the Print Layout. Can anyone make any suggestions?

It's just that Microsoft, in its infinite wisdom, decided to make us Ctrl+Click for a hyperlink.

Otherwise, you can change the setting on your PC to NOT require the Ctrl key.
Tools-Options-Edit tab. Second checkbox on the right...

And don't you just LOVE that Reading Layout feature?

I have a Word 2003 document in which I have created mailto hyperlinks from regular text. When converted to pdf, the links does not work they just show as hyperlink. If I type a regular email address or website address, no problem, links are fine.

In Word 2003 when I click on the Print Preview icon it opens and the size is always 51%. How can I set this to 100% or 125% etc. so each time I open Print Preview it will open at the set size, as at 51% it is hard to read words.

I have created a word document that includes a table that spans close to 10 pages. When going to print, the only thing that prints is the outline of the table, with no text inside. I have been using this identical table in other documents and it has printed fine before.

Now noting this today, I went back to previously saved documents that include the same table, and now those documents will only print the table outlines as well, when they have definitely printed fine with the text before.

I have checked the following:
-black ink is not empty
-hidden font is not checked
-changed color of font, still no font printed
-made a new document with just text, that printed fine

Below is my log.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to solve this problem.

Check that the text is not set to hidden, select all > format > check if text is set to hidden

Or check if the table is not set to wrap text. Could be as the table breaks to the next page it wraps the text. Dnt knw why this would be an issue but google says it might be

I am preparing a chemistry textbook and have hit several interesting, undocumented limits in Word. I was able to bypass them by splitting the document into two documents and linking the second as a sub-document in the first. This introduced another interesting problem...

Each document contains several text boxes.

Observations
&#8226; Everything is visible is print preview.
&#8226; When I print each individual document, everything prints.
&#8226; [THE PROBLEM] When I print the complete document, some(?) text boxes in the first document do not print; all text boxes in the second document print. (Again, everything is visible in print preview, but not in the printed document).

Hey all. I'm running Word 2003 on XP Pro, and I have a real throat-slasher of a Microsoft Word problem on my hands that I have posted far and wide on many forums, to no avail.

I have a picture that I am trying to post as a background image to a Word document. To do this, I go Format - Background - Fill Effects - Picture - Select Picture, then I choose the picture. The picture shows up, and when I view the file in Print View at 100% Zoom, it is at the perfect scale to my liking. But when I print the document, the background image is shrunk to a fraction of its original size and tiled in the background, behind the document text.

I have posted this on several different forums already, and the only answer I have received so far was from Garfield-n-Odie, who suggested the following:

"In Word, try turning off background printing in Tools | Options | Print. In Windows, try turning off print spooling and advanced text services in Start | Control Panel | Printers | right-click on your printer Properties."

"Check the setting of the "Print body text before header/footer" option on the Compatibility tab of Tools | Options. If the box is checked, clear it and vice versa and see if that helps."

"If you can you print to a different printer, try that."

I've tried these all, on a couple of different computers. No dice. Any ideas? I'm really at the end of my rope. Thanks a million in advance.

i have reciently occured a problem with opening of microsoft 2003 files(all of them), when i go to open the file it prompts me for permision from the user control (the computer never done this until reciently). once i give permission an error box appears(no error codes) saying that the file cannot be found. once microsoft word opens a black screen appears. i have repaired, system restored, and re-installed the programme and have now ran out of ideas. any help please???

I had been trying to turn OFF the damned automatic text replacement buttons, etc (as when a word should be capped or is spelled wrong).

Apparently, I tossed these BOTTONs out--or more likely toggeled them off.

With Word, I have words that i use that are correct, but it keeps underlining them in red and i know you can add the words into its dictionary so that this doesn't happen for those words anymore. I forgot on where you do it, i know i should know as i've been using word since Office '95. I just always click on ignore. Someone did tell me once, but i need my memory refreshed.

The easiest way I found was to run spell check and when the pop up dialog box appears on words not in Word's dictionary( red squigglies) , there is an option to ignore, change, etc., or "add to dictionary". It is there that I make a decision whether to add or not, and I add it to the general dictionary. Check the HELP to determine how to set up a *special* dictionary, if that is what you want to do, just for these words.

i'm running windows xp, i'm having trouble opening certain e-mails, when i open one sometimes a blue Microsoft Word screen comes out in the background, you know like if i was going to write a letter, and then i get a window that states " The Command cannot be performed theres a dialog box open, close the box and continue ' but when i close it i get another window asking me for my 25 product key which i found and i type it in with caps or no caps and i get a window that states i put in the wrong product key, i can finally open the email opening it with Note Pad, but still i think i might have future problems with this product key thing is there anything i can do, like maybe download Microsoft Word ?? i'm totally lost here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have to type in the product key exactly as it appears. It is case sensitive and make sure that you type a 1 for number and l for letter, same for 0 number and O capital letter.

Hum.. You want to insert a mathematical expression in your text? Or do you want Word to calculate a quare root for you?

In case of the former, you have to install an Office component called Equation Editor.
If you have that, then you can do Insert->Object->Create New->Microsoft Equation

Otherwise, you can always draw the formula in Paint and then copy-paste to Word

I went to do a new install and my disc kept stopping at the same spot.

Hello everyone,I usually use Microsoft Word XP professional (on my laptop) to do my paper work and when I finish everything I copy my files to my desktop computer (bigger screen) so I can review the paper for the last time and print it. My problem occurred when my printer started printing something completely different from the page that appeared on my screen. It's the same page but the first line would start for example at 2 cm from the top of the page, the footnotes would be in different order like this: 1, 4, 2 , 5, 3. I realized that the Print layout view on Microsoft Word 2007 is showing something while the Full screen reading is showing something completely different. It's what I see in the full screen reading that gets printed!I can off course uninstall office 2007 and install another version but I hate to leave this problem unsolved. When I try to open Microsoft Office Word 2003 a window pops up that says window installer then it says installing microsoft office word feature. It stops half way and another window pops up that says Installation error file not found. A required installation file SKU112.CAB could not be found. Original installation source required. If you installed Microsoft Office Standard edition 2003 from cd please insert your cd. If you installed Microsoft office standard edition 2003 over your computer network please browse to the installation source on your computer. Also a window popped up that says Microsoft word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install application. I don't have the cd its lost. This just started doing this about a month ago. I can't open any files through microsoft office word or power point. I have windows xp. I don't know hardly anything about computers so I don't know what to do. Any help will be appreciated

Good Morning, I got a new laptop. Successfully loaded out MS Office 2003 from disc. I was successful in registering/validating it with Microsoft. All works fine. I am able to perform all Word functions. The only problem is every time I open Word it presents me with the End User License Agreement and asks that I ACCEPT or DECLINE. I have accepted it over 10 times, but it will ask me again the next time I load Word.

Any ideas as to whats going on? Or, any suggestions as to how I can stop the EULA persistence.

Hey,

I have a problem where Word 2003 crashes when I open a document, especially if that document is an email attachment, or something I havn't authored, it happens about 95% of the time. It usually freezes and i can't type, or use my mouse on the page, i usually have to right click on the window bar to close the window. It then pops up a window that I have chosen to close the unresponsive program and asks me to send notification to microsoft. I have dloaded all the latest security packs etc., checked the msoft website, visrus checked and run the office recovery software as well and havn't had any luck in fixing the problem.

Any ideas?

I have a new laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed. I'm running Microsoft Office 2003 and want to change the normal.dot file, but I can't get at it. Windows Explorer tells me it's at C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\normal.dot, but I don't see andy AppData in the Users\Owner display. Currently to open a Word file, I basically go through C - Users - Owner - My Documents - WORD.DOC

I have similar ACCESS.DOC, EXCEL.DOC, PDF.DOC, PPT.DOC folders in My Documents to get into files for those Microsoft Office programs.

In Explorer go to Tools menu, Folder Options, View, then make sure to enable Show Hidden Files Folders and Drives.

Otherwise you wont' see AppData.

Also select to Set all Folders with those settings.

I have a new computer.

I have 'Microsoft Office Word 2003' on my old computer and I wanted to place the program on my new computer except that I can't find the cd.

My Question:

Is there a command that I can use, say in the "run" program to transfer all the files of 'Microsoft Office Word 2003' of to a thumb drive and transfer the 'Microsoft Office Word 2003' to my new machine?

Hi there,

I asked a similar question before in that it involved Microsoft Word 2003; and I have another in a related vein now. Is it okay/or safe to have 100 and more pictures in one .doc file? I don?t mean that the pictures here are ?as-is? -- in other words, big pictures -- but they are in fact shrunken down in the document ? sort-of like small stills, lined up. Is this okay to do?

At least if anything, it would be up to the computer, not MS Word, MS Word is made for large documents, if required in the office.

I bought a new Dell XPS 420 with Microsoft Works Plus 2003 preinstalled. Everything works fine except Word 2003. Certain things I try to do take forever. For instance, trying to insert a chart, print anything, copy and paste something into Word, and several other things can take 60 seconds or more to load. During this time, the program is basically froze until it completes. If I try to close it, I get the ever present ?program not responding? message.
I've tried uninstall/reinstall and ran ? repair Word?. Nothing seems to help. I downloaded the trial version of Word 2007 just to see if it would work, and it worked fine.
I'm running Vista Home Premium 64bit.
If anybody has any ideas, I would appreciate it. System Info below.

I have Windows XP and Microsoft Word 2003. I am trying to print a greeting card for the first time. The card size unfolded is 7 1/2 by 11. Once folded it wll be 71/2 by 5 1/2. When I choose print, I get the message "The margins of section 1 are outside the printable area of the page". I don't understand what section 1 is. I've moved the margins and I still get the same error.

I am trying to print a flyer I made in Word 2003. I created it with borders. When I try to print it, the bottom border will not print. I am using Vista Ultimate. Can anyone help me with this? I've tried adjusting the bottom margins but still no luck. It prints just fine without a border, but with borders, the bottom one will not print. Any advice would be welcomed. Thank you.

I can fax directly from fax and scan OK. But when I try to fax from microsoft word 2003 it doesn't work. When I get into the fax wizard using "send to recipient using fax modem" it skips over where I put recipient, cover sheet and sender in so I can't send the fax.
When I try going thru printer, it inserts my doc in attachments and is unreadable. THANKS

Hi, I've been having this problem with MS Word 2003 for a little bit.

What happens is, I open the application, and the Word box pops up like it's about to open like it should, but then it takes forever to open, maybe over 10 minutes or so, unless I just end the process like I usually do since it takes so long.

The only thing I've noticed different about anything when I open it is, Navw32.exe starts running, and if i end that, an alert window opens that says "The document C:\Documents and Settings\David Solis\Application Data\Microsoft\Normal\Templates.dot is still infected. Do you want to delete this file?". I'll click no, and Word opens.

Any idea what any of this is, why it's doing it, and how to stop it? Thanks!

hello all
I am having problem loading MS word 2003. I have windows xp installed, and had office 2003 installed on my PC. It was working fine, but lately it wont load word. it goes to start the application but just hangs there and will not start. I have tried different copies, uninstalled and reinstalled it. i run into same problem every time. when i restart my computer word starts into safe mode and i have used detect and repair from help menu.all other applications ( excel, access, power point ) work except word. I have also tried updating from Microsoft support. I am stuck, any help would be appreciated.thanks

do a search on your system for normal.dot and when you find it, rename it to normal.old

try to open Word

if it works, and you have no macros or personal changes made to your normal.dot, then simply delete normal.old

I have never had a problem with Microsoft Word until now. I can use Word fine on my computer. In the past week or so, however, when I send Microsoft Word documents to people, sometimes they say they can open them and sometimes they say they can’t open them. It depends on the person.On some of my e-mail clients (I have multiple e-mail accounts), I can open the files I send myself (i.e. I will send an e-mail to my multiple e-mail accounts and I will attach Word documents to that e-mail. On some clients I can open the files I send myself, and others I can’t...I did a check disk /r (checkdisk repair) on March 9 and it fixed the problem. I could send Word documents and everyone could download them and I could send Word documents to myself and download them via AOL Mail, Yahoo, and everything. And then the problem came back again.When I click on the file in the mail client that doesn’t read the documents correctly, the attachment comes up as saying that the mail client interprets the .doc file as being related to Notepad (specifically listing Notepad as the program it wants to open the file in), not Word. Then when I try to open it (either straight from the e-mail or after downloading the file back to my hard drive), it tries to open in word and gives me the converter message.When it was working for a little while on March 9, the way I knew a Word document would work correctly even before trying to open a file is that AOL.com Mail would list it as being a Word doc... I haven't read nor absorbed your entire message.
There's one thing that comes to mind immediately - your clients may have slightly different Word. If they have 2007, you need to send them the 2007 version or have them open as previous version (if possible).

Long ago there was an office update which added some sort of converter to my Office2003. Perhaps if you save as some other than 2003 .doc it would work. That update permitted me to open a document or two someone sent me.

Edited: what is one supposed to do with that megaupload site? All I see to pay lots of UK currency. I'm willing to try to open your
files in my Office2003 but not under those conditions.

Are you in print layout view? That's the only view that will display the ruler in Word 2003. If so, go to Tools/Options and select the View tab. Under Print and Web Layout options, check the Vertical ruler box. Hope that helps.

In the old microsoft word, when you had more than one document open, they would all use the same window, and minimize within itself. However I now have 2003 and when I open a new document, they are completly seperate windows and use two buttons on the task bar. I liked having all my documents open in the same program that i can control with the x in the corner. This is hard to explain so i Hope you know what i am talking about. I know it is possible to change this setting because ive used antoher computer where it has done this. I just can not find it in the options or anywhere I have looked. Any help would be appriciated. Even maybe a term i could use to look for it. THank you

In Word 2002 (XP version) you can go to Tools > Options, click on the View tab and clear the checkbox labeled "Windows in Taskbar". According to the Word Help, this will force all Word document windows to be represented by a single button on the taskbar. Word 2003 should be similar.

I'm trying to print a document from Microsoft Word 2003 to a network printer.
When I select print I get an error message with the following text.
A microsoft word error 7, "The RPC server is unavailable" has occurred. When
I close the error box I get another error that immediately follows.
A microsoft word error 10, "There is a printer error" has occurred.
Have tried to troubleshoot the problem by re-installing the printer and this
does not help. Have even re-installed Microsoft Office 2003 and this has not
stopped the problem either. I have 12 workstations on a Windows 2003 server
and only 3 of my workstations are having this problem. All workstations are
running Windows XP professional sp2 and print just fine from all of my other server
applications. I have scanned all systems for malware and they are all clean.
I don't know what else to try and hope someone has seen this problem and may
have solution.
 

A:Solved: A microsoft word error 7 message occurs when users try to print

It could be caused by the Print Spooler service being stopped - that would explain the second error, which is an out-of-memory error. If that fails, make sure you have the latest printer driver - and the one you have may be corrupt.
If all this fails, try installing the printer again, but use the IP address of it, rather than having Windows auto-search for it. Another meaning of this error is that the PCs are unable to recognize one another.

I was using Word normally only a few hours before this started.

Word types random sentances by itself. It also prints multiple pages, opens new windows and changes the page set up all by itself.

I brand a file onto the computer from my USB device just before this.

Anyone got any idea what the problem is and how i can fix it.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the program, but the problem remains.

I've been using word 2003 in windows 7 for a couple years now and it always worked fine. Recently, I have been experiencing this issue where if I click on "save as" to save the file and then double click the C drive it just sits there and freezes for a couple minutes (and I get the "not responding" box with everything whited out). I tried to uninstall and reinstall microsoft office 2003 and the problem is still there. I don't know why it's doing that when I click on the C drive because I can save the file to the desktop or under documents right away without any freezing and then move the file -- but this is a hassle. How can I fix this problem?

Hello,

I am trying to create a letter template that has drop downs in it so that a user can choose which paragraph to put in the letter.

I can create one by using the Drop down form field but it will only let me put a certain amount of text in there.

Is there a way I can do this?

I dont want to do auto texts just the drop down.

Not sure if this is the right place too ask, but I am all out of options.

I have this problem with Outlook 2003 & text wrapping: When the email is busy being typed, the wrapping works and it flows over to the next line automatically but when the recipient opens the email its just one long line

We use html email formats.. This problem also onle seems to happen sometimes...

If someone can point me in the right direction i would be gratefull
