Microsoft Word 2003 closes in error when I make a change with track changes

Q: Microsoft Word 2003 closes in error when I make a change with track changes

I've got a document about 41 pages, broke into multiple sections. Track changes have been on, I've been able to edit the file for a while up until an hour. Now, when i make any changes this document just closes, this has been tried and same phenomenon occurs on 3 other computers, so it must be something with the file? Any idea would be appreciated.

Some interesting characteristics:
when change is made word shuts down.
but when you use auto recover and word opens back up, the change that caused word to close is actually made.

A: Microsoft Word 2003 closes in error when I make a change with track changes

do you have the remove hidden data feature installed and turned on?
Otherwise, I would suspect a corrupt Normal.dot file - close Word, find and rename or delete it (Word will rebuild it when you open it again).

Good afternoon people,

Firstly, I would like to say hello to everyone who've helped me in the past with my Access help. It's been a long absence with study commitments and such, but as is the purpose of this group, I would like to ask for some tech help:

The situation: Microsoft Word (as part of Office 2003 Professional Edition) frequently closes without user notification on my dad's laptop (Windows Vista Basic). It's recently started, and it interrupts his work. He says that the issue occurs when he minimises documents, but he didn't indicate a frequency of this occurrence. He also told me that once he successfully saves a document and closes Word, he then encounters issues when opening said document; it says that the file has been "corrupted" (I can't remember exactly what the dialog box says), and that the data can be recovered, or to proceed with opening the document. Data recovery doesn't work, and when he proceeds to open the document, Word returns "Program not responding" and "Critical error caused by the program" and other prompts of this nature, which then forces the program to quit.

I am aware that a similar problem is in the Microsoft Knowledge Base for Word 2003, but was last revised in 2004 (so covered only xp and 2000), and am not certain if this issue is the same for Windows Vista. It related to the "Handwriting Recognition" program.

Additionally, as always, there are a multitude of ... Read more

We recently "upgraded" to Word 2003. We have a letter done in Word that we email to several hundred students. The problem we are having since upgrading to Word 2003 is that when the letter is received, it opens with "Final Showing Markup" on the Display Review box, thereby displaying the tracked changes in red. Is there a way to have this document default to open to "Final" so changes that were made are not visible? I've tried turning everything off in the Tools, Options, Track Changes tab, but that did not help. I've also tried changing the Display Review box to "Final" and saving the document, but when it's opened again, it reverts back to showing the changes again (even though Track Changes are still off). Any help is greatly appreciated, since we need to send this letter out, but don't want the students to see a marked up version. Thanks!

(I hope I explained the problem in a way that makes sense.)

In Word 2003, I use “Track Changes” all of the time and make (and mark) changes on the fly. I developed a shortcut, using Alt + R to toggle it on and off, which is fine. The Track Changes “style” for insertions is double underline. I also want to be able to set the Track Changes so that the insertion is both bold and double underlined simultaneously. And then when one chooses “Accept All Changes”, both the double underlined language and bold would disappear simultaneously.

Currently, I can achieve this by turning on “bold” and creating a “field of bold” before typing in the insertion and this works. But then after I “Accept all Changes” I have to go back and remove the bold.

I wanted to eliminate all the extra keystrokes necessary to turn on (and later remove) the bold before inputting insertions and then “Accepting All Changes” .

Is there a way to achieve this in Word?

Thanks,

A:Track Changes In Word 2003

I tried playing around with this without success. I use balloons instead of underscores for insertions, so this is new to me. I even tried using the formatting setting for bold, but that didn't work for insertions. Perhaps someone else will have a solution for you.

I have searched this forum and did not find an answer to my problem.

I am using Win XP/Pro Sp2 and Word 2003 SP2.

The documents I am working with are fairly large (>100 pages). The Track Changes feature is on.

The documents have relatively complex tables (with dimensions described in points, for what that is worth). Selected cells within the table are assigned background colors using the Borders and Shading feature. A given row may have up to three different colors, some colors in adjacent cells, some not.

I have noticed the following:

Colors will disappear (background = white) from a row in which modifications have been made to cells that do not include colors, and no modifications have been made to cells in that row with colors.

In at least one row, colors disappeared (background = white) from cells that had no modifications, but colors were retained in cells that were modified. That led me to consider that the problem might be a toggle issue, so I changed the colors in the cells that lost the colors to some undesirable color, saved the file, then changed the colors to a desired color and saved the file again. That didn't work.

For the record, here is the keystroke/mouse click sequence I use in applying the Shading:

I click in the cell that needs the color.
I then click on Table/Select/Cell
I then click on Format/Borders and Shading
I then click on the desired color, then on OK

I set up two Test documents. One had a table pasted into it with Track Changes o... Read more

Hi everyone,

I just reinstalled Word 2003 after a harddrive meltdown, and a funny problem arose. Now when I write in comment balloons when I am using track changes every word has a squiggly line under it as if it has a grammar or spelling mistake.

I went to Tools/Options/Spelling & Grammar/Settings and found that all my grammar settings are in Spanish! Everything else is in English as far as I know, but I don't know how to change the grammar settings to English or whether this is really why there are squiggly lines underneath everything I write in comment balloons.

When I write in a Word document, there are no squiggly lines. It just seems to be in the comment balloons.

Thank you very much,

Hi

I have a Word fill in form that at some point had Track Changes turned on.

It is a form several people use. Every time a new person, or new computer accesses this form, the formatting ballooons show up, and print as well.

I can turn it all off for each user in their Word settings, but how do I get rid of these formatting balloons in the document itself? That way, whenever it gets opened for the first time by someone else, I don't have to go and turn off all the track changes stuff.

A:Solved: How to move track changes balloons in Word 2003?

Hi caliaa,
You can change their width, which might be all you need. You can also choose whether they're on the left or right side of the page.
Go to Tools/Track Changes to get the Reviewing Toolbar.
On the toolbar, click Show and then Options.

There are options for the Balloons near the bottom of the Options pane. Hope that helps.

We have recently moved to Word 2013 using SharePoint - unlike previous versions of Word, ie 2007 and 2010, we have found that if you open a document in word, mark up the changes, close the document and then the same person opens it at a later date that if they try to do anything in track changes it actually tracks over existing tracks - this is something that it should be doing, at least it didn't in previous versions of Word.
Wondering whether this issue would happen to be because of SharePoint and its versioning of documents? Has anyone encountered this, and if so, how can we fix. This is a major issue as a good percentage of our documents are done in track changes.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A:Word 2013 track change issues

SharePoint is making a new version of the document when changes are made when versioning is turned on in SP. Its not writing over 'tracking' as the new version has no tracks. Previous versions of the document should be available. I've not had extensive interaction with this feature but do know that you can set how many versions to keep. I would be interested to know what happens when you turn versioning off.

I need to review the (tracked) changes that a text editor made to a paper I have written. When I open the file with track changes, my own text is still readable and some of the text the editor added, too. However, some of the track-change-balloons only contain strange characters (see attachment and an example of the type of characters below).

Does anybody have a clue what causes this and how to display the text in normal Latin characters?

I have created in Microsoft Word 2003 on an XP OS some lengthy documents. I created them using a view setting of 150%.

I sent them to my employer, who is using Windows 98 and Microsoft Word 97. My boss opened them with his system and they displayed on the screen at a view of 200%. He wants me to send him Word documents that he can open from the CD-R that I send that will automatically display at 100% view on the screen so that he does not have to set the view for each document as it displays.

So what is the answer.

Is there a way that I can save my created documents so that when my boss gets them on a CD-R that they will open on his system at a view setting of 100%.

Is there also a way that his system can be set to default to 100% in reading from the CD-R.

My boss does not want to copy the documents to the system hard disk from my sent CD-R, preferring to read and copy directly from the CD-R that I send, so that the original documents will not accidentally be changed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone, irritating problem is bugging a friend.

In Word 2003 sometimes the colors used when tracking changes by author seem to be random. The default would seem to be Red, Blue, and so on, but he seems to get a sludgy orange and then gray as the next color, which makes it harder to spot changes in long documents as they don't stand out as much. I can send him a document I've created with tracked changes in red, and they come out as another color on his PC. Have tried forcing all changes to be a particular color (e.g. red) and then resetting ... with limited success.

Does anyone know if this is a bug or if there is a workaround? This site suggests the former when it says that Word "likes to be creative"!!! http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/trackchanges/HowTrackChangesWorks.html#Reviewers

I was hoping someone new how to make a text box do the same job as a header and footer and then I could put the text box on the right hand side of the page, but you will no doubt have a better solution. Additionally, I need to lock the image if possible so nobody can type over the image or move the image around. Is this at all possible.

Thanks for looking and hope you can help.

If you don't mind having a faded image, you could insert the image into the Header, right click on it and choose Format Picture and on the Layout tab choose Tight. Position the image where you will then exit. When you now type in the document all text will wrap around the image and not over it. If you increase the contrast of the image via the Picture Toolbar before exiting it will appear more clearly in the document.

Windows 8 Metro idea is not so bad it?s just need improvements

If Microsoft makes the Start Page floating it will be a totally different experience. By floating I means something detachable, something you can resize, move on another monitor or even in a tablet keyboard. What I mean by a tablet keyboard; it?s a tablet with a touchscreen, but without processor it will be only link to the computer as an input device, so you can use it in your family room as remote for your HTPC, or at the side of your keyboard, or simply replace your keyboard.

For a power user with multi monitors it will change everything; the users will be able to move the start pages where he wants. But the metro apps also as to me capable of runing in a Windows too, the 66%/33% side by side is not sufficient for a PC.

So finally the question is not is Windows 8 is better and worse than Windows

A:What Microsoft can change to make W8 more productive and enjoyable

IMO, they should reinstate the old desktop functions (start menu/button) but keep Metro as optional interactive screensaver.

That way they can keep both without having the schitzophrenic OS behaviour that we have now.

A:Microsoft Word 2003 - Need Help

The easiest way I found was to run spell check and when the pop up dialog box appears on words not in Word's dictionary( red squigglies) , there is an option to ignore, change, etc., or "add to dictionary". It is there that I make a decision whether to add or not, and I add it to the general dictionary. Check the HELP to determine how to set up a *special* dictionary, if that is what you want to do, just for these words.
Hope this helps.

In case of the former, you have to install an Office component called Equation Editor.
If you have that, then you can do Insert->Object->Create New->Microsoft Equation

Is there a way to tell Microsoft Word to "guess" what I mean every time I make a typo? For example, I type "tsanding," and instead of changing it to "standing," it underlines it red. I know I can then right-click it, and select AutoCorrect > standing, so that, from now on, if the same exact typo arises in the future, in which I accidentally type "tsanding," it'll change it to "standing." I've thus far collected *hundreds* of specific typo corrections in this way. But that's very time-consuming, and is only a weak attempt at preventing typos I may be likely to make in the future (based on the fact that I made the exact typo at least once before). Is there any way to establish that I want Microsoft Word to go ahead and correct every single "underlined red" occurrence from now on, based on its best guess as to what I meant? (except in cases where the typo was so bad that it has no guess at all) That way, when it corrects something I *didn't* want corrected, I can then go back and add what I wanted to its dictionary, to tell it not to consider that word an accident from then on.

A:Is there a way to tell Microsoft Word to "guess" what I mean every time I make a typo?

Found this in the Word Help files. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options. In the Replace box, type a word or phrase that you often mistype or misspell ? for example, type usualy. In the With box, type the correct spelling of the word ? for example, type usually. Click Add. Is this what you're talking about?

A user created a policy form template (word .dot) with fields that can be tabbed/filled out. She wants the user to be able to fill out the form then be able to insert a blank copy of the same form (repeat page 2) at the end of the document. They want this for user who has to create mulitple polilcies.

I can't figure out how it can be done in the template which is attached in the zip file. Could possibly be done in Acrobat but not sure. Any ideas?

I know how to use bullets, but if you tab in the bullets, it will stay tabbed throughout the entire document unless you set up tabbed bullets again. When I try to backspace to go back to left alignment, it will delete the bullet and still stay tabbed. Basically what I am asking is after you do a tabbed bullet, how do you go back to aligning the bullets left again?

A:How to make bullets work in Microsoft Word 2007

Try shift-tab instead of Backspace to shift the tab to the left.

Hello,

With my Windows 7 Home Premium I use Microsoft Word Starter 2010, which came preloaded to my laptop. I save much information in it's standard 'document' page. When I click on a saved document, after about 5 seconds it displays the small window "Microsoft Word Starter 2010" and goes through some process, telling me it is 'starting', 'processing' and takes a further 10 to 20 seconds for the actual document to open. This happens even when opening a blank document. Is there any way that I can speed up the opening of a document.

Regards.

I can't explain how it happened, but i had a frozen microsoft word screen.I had to shut it down thru task manager, and when i shut down the computer (windowsxp) i had to turn the power to do so.

when i turned it back on and attempted to open word, a window keeps popping up telling me tht word couldnt recover a document (which wasn't being used anyway) when i click OK, i get a message for another file, and another... hundreds or thousands of them. after seemingly going thru all my doc documents, it has moved on to wbk.

So microsoft word is nonfunctional, and i can't tell if I have lost all my documents.

Help, please!!
Thanks

hi

my word 2003 has been behaving strangely on a number of different computers for a while now.

when I change the format of one word or character, say increasing the point size or making it bold, it will format the WHOLE document in this manner. However when I click the undo button my single change appears. This goes on all the time, however not always.

Does anyone know why please?

thanks,

Hello;

I recently followed Anne Troy's advice on changing multiple hyperlinks in a word document using the search and replace function after revealing Field Codes. That worked awesomely except for one thing. While the actual link goes to the correct place, the data in the yellow window that pops up still identifies the old link as does the edit hyperlink window. Have I missed a layer of updating this information? Just in case, I have saved the file and restarted Word to no avail.

Thanks;

D.

I'm filling out a small questionnaire for an itnernship with an IT company. The last question has me stuck:

"b) A user is using the Tracked Changes feature in Microsoft Word. However, all of his/her tracked changes are labelled as Administrator (initials: A). Please indicate how you would change the user's information; alternatively, please provide a website where a procedure can be found"

I've searched in the Word help files and had a quick go on Google, but nothing has helped so far. What I'm thinking is that the question doesn't want me to change the author's name in the tracked changes, but merely enter User Information (in Tools > Options > User Information). Would comments and changes be entered under 'Administrator' with initals 'A' if no user information had been entered ?

Thanks in advance.

A:Word 2003: Change author of tracked changes

Welcome to the forum.

"Tools">>"Options">>"User Information" is where you will setup the editor of the document. You were correct in what you stated. It typically uses the User Name for tracking changes and the User Initials for the comments.

Is it possible to do this?

A:Can I make my internal HD external and I change the type of microsoft it runs with?

Yes, you can take that hard drive out of the 2k machine and read it just fine in Vista. What you can't do is take your OS drive from 2k and boot another machine with it, but I don't think that is what you were asking.

I have never had a problem with Microsoft Word until now. I can use Word fine on my computer. In the past week or so, however, when I send Microsoft Word documents to people, sometimes they say they can open them and sometimes they say they can’t open them. It depends on the person. On some of my e-mail clients (I have multiple e-mail accounts), I can open the files I send myself (i.e. I will send an e-mail to my multiple e-mail accounts and I will attach Word documents to that e-mail. On some clients I can open the files I send myself, and others I can’t...I did a check disk /r (checkdisk repair) on March 9 and it fixed the problem. I could send Word documents and everyone could download them and I could send Word documents to myself and download them via AOL Mail, Yahoo, and everything. And then the problem came back again. When I click on the file in the mail client that doesn’t read the documents correctly, the attachment comes up as saying that the mail client interprets the .doc file as being related to Notepad (specifically listing Notepad as the program it wants to open the file in), not Word. Then when I try to open it (either straight from the e-mail or after downloading the file back to my hard drive), it tries to open in word and gives me the converter message. When it was working for a little while on March 9, the way I knew a Word document would work correctly even before trying to open a file is that AOL.com Mail would list it as being a Word doc... Read more

A:Microsoft Word 2003 nightmare

I haven't read nor absorbed your entire message.
There's one thing that comes to mind immediately - your clients may have slightly different Word. If they have 2007, you need to send them the 2007 version or have them open as previous version (if possible).

Long ago there was an office update which added some sort of converter to my Office2003. Perhaps if you save as some other than 2003 .doc it would work. That update permitted me to open a document or two someone sent me.

Edited: what is one supposed to do with that megaupload site? All I see to pay lots of UK currency. I'm willing to try to open your
files in my Office2003 but not under those conditions.

I have a new laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed. I'm running Microsoft Office 2003 and want to change the normal.dot file, but I can't get at it. Windows Explorer tells me it's at C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\normal.dot, but I don't see andy AppData in the Users\Owner display. Currently to open a Word file, I basically go through C - Users - Owner - My Documents - WORD.DOC

I have similar ACCESS.DOC, EXCEL.DOC, PDF.DOC, PPT.DOC folders in My Documents to get into files for those Microsoft Office programs.

A:Normal.dot in Microsoft Word 2003

In Explorer go to Tools menu, Folder Options, View, then make sure to enable Show Hidden Files Folders and Drives.

Otherwise you wont' see AppData.

Hi there,

I asked a similar question before in that it involved Microsoft Word 2003; and I have another in a related vein now. Is it okay/or safe to have 100 and more pictures in one .doc file? I don?t mean that the pictures here are ?as-is? -- in other words, big pictures -- but they are in fact shrunken down in the document ? sort-of like small stills, lined up. Is this okay to do?

A:Care with using Microsoft Word 2003

I don't see why there would be ay issues having that many images in one file.
At least if anything, it would be up to the computer, not MS Word, MS Word is made for large documents, if required in the office.

try to open Word

However I now have 2003 and when I open a new document, they are completly seperate windows and use two buttons on the task bar. I liked having all my documents open in the same program that i can control with the x in the corner. This is hard to explain so i Hope you know what i am talking about. I know it is possible to change this setting because ive used antoher computer where it has done this. I just can not find it in the options or anywhere I have looked. Any help would be appriciated. Even maybe a term i could use to look for it. THank you

Hi, I've been having this problem with MS Word 2003 for a little bit.

What happens is, I open the application, and the Word box pops up like it's about to open like it should, but then it takes forever to open, maybe over 10 minutes or so, unless I just end the process like I usually do since it takes so long.

The only thing I've noticed different about anything when I open it is, Navw32.exe starts running, and if i end that, an alert window opens that says "The document C:\Documents and Settings\David Solis\Application Data\Microsoft\Normal\Templates.dot is still infected. Do you want to delete this file?". I'll click no, and Word opens.

Any idea what any of this is, why it's doing it, and how to stop it? Thanks!

It then pops up a window that I have chosen to close the unresponsive program and asks me to send notification to microsoft. Hey everyone,
I am only familiar with the basics in Word (I am a bit better with Excel) but I have encountered a problem that I am hoping for some help with at work: I am handed over a Word 2003 document every monday morning that is roughly 5-9 pages long that consists of roughly 5-7 tables on it. All 6 tables have 6 columns with identical headings for each. Every Monday, I spend a lot of time making these into the exact same format, adjusting column widths to the exact same specs. I created a macro to make all of my adjustments but it fails when it comes time to adjust the column widths for all the tables. I would like to be able to run a macro with the columns widths to finish as follows:

column 1: .73
column 2: .35
column 3: .66
column 4: .51
column 5: .38
column 6: 7.56

Please help me get to the bottom of this to save my Mondays!
Thanks!

Having just checked an email with my resume attached it opens in WORD 2003 in READING VIEW. There is a small section near the top formatted with 2 columns, reading view changes this to one.

Selecting View/Print Layout change the section back to 2 columns.

Does anyone know how to prevent the reading view from changing the column format so that the 2 columns of bulleted items do not "read as 1"?

I have attached a 1 page example

Thank you in advance,
Matthew

A:Word 2003 Reading View Change 2 Columns to 1

You are in normal view. You need to be in Print View.

If you look at the bottom left corner of your document and to the left of your horizontal scrollbar, you will see 4 buttons.
If you look at the first of those buttons, it should be selected. Hover your mouse pointer over it and you should see a tag appear that says Normal view.
If you hover over the 3rd button from the left, a tag should appear saying Print Layout View This is a graphical representation of your document and how it will print.
Click on that button and you should see the columns of bullet points.
Normal view is non graphical, so it is unable to show the two columns.

Normally you would work in Print Layout View.

Hope that helps and works

Morning all,

I'm looking for some inspiration here, so hope someone can point me in the right direction. (Word 2003 on XP).

I want to change the default text box, so that it has no border and no colour as well as making the font Arial, 12pt.

It's easy enough to change all those settings, but how do I get Word 2003 to remember those settings for all future documents that I create?

I've tried to save the changed text box format and save it as normal.dot but it does not save the changes and when I insert a text box, it still has a border and Times font.

Is there a way of saving the text box format please?

Cheers,

Lee

Hi,
I'm having this problem with Microsoft Word.
I has never happen before and it doesn't happen with other office program like PowerPoint or Excel. Just Microsoft Word.

My Office is: Microsoft Office Word 2003 (11.5604.5606)
Part of Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003

The problem is when I'm using my Khmer Font (Limon) and I type a certain letter (only this one letter) which use Ctrl + Alt + T it change my font to Time New Roman size 10 and the cursor also change appearance.
I'm attaching the pictures of screenshot and logs I scan with MBAM and CCleaner. Although I don't think it's virus problem.
Please help me.

Thanks,
Rasmey

Sorry on the go

But all it is. Is that you have size 10 and then size 22 after it

I can't explain it clearly it's 10 10 10 10 10 22 22 22
And when you backspace the 22 size it stays 22 until you make it size10 again
As for that little dot, it must be the font at that size, or something

I was using Word normally only a few hours before this started.

Word types random sentances by itself. It also prints multiple pages, opens new windows and changes the page set up all by itself.

I brand a file onto the computer from my USB device just before this.

Anyone got any idea what the problem is and how i can fix it.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the program, but the problem remains.

Help!

For some reason, I cannot even open my Word 2003. I click on the icon and it shows in the bottom toolbar but doesn't open. This happens if I try to open a word file or the program.

Hi Sallysara,

if you go to Add/Remove Programs, (Start, Control Panel or (My Computer Then Control Panel) The Double Click On Add/Remove Programs, Then Go Down To Microsoft Office) Click On Change Then A New Window Will Open And Click On Repair. That Should Work. If Not Put You Windows Disk In And When It Opens Click On Repair.

That Should Sort It. If Not Just Message Here Again

Jaymie.

Every time I get a word file as an attachment and open it up, it defaults to the reading layout, then I have to close that to get it to display as I want. Is there a way to disable that and only put it in that format if I want? Thanks

A:Solved: Microsoft Word in Office 2003

Disable opening file in reading layout in Outlook or Word.

Courtney sends...

PS: I have Office 2007, so I don't remember the exact location, but it is probably in Tools, Options.

I am using a computer in the office. There are two of us that use this computer, myself and my boss. Neither of us are really computer saavy, we understand the basics and thats about it. We only work in the office on rainy days, any other time we are outside. But we have been using Microsoft word 2003 for a few years and have never had a problem loading it until now. It takes up to 5 minutes sometimes to load the program. We are using Windows XP 2002 edition, service pack 3. The computer is a dell Dimension DM051 Intel (R) Pentium (R) D CPU 2.8GHz, 2.79 GHZ, 1.00GB of RAM. All our reports are in Word format and every time we open any report it is taking up to 5 min. to load. Is this a virus, spyware? I dont' think its the computer itself because we've never had a problem with this or any other program before. Any support or suggestions would greatly be appreciated thank you.

I'm using an Asus Laptop K52F running Window 7 with 4 GB RAM. Suddenly the Microsoft Office 2003 has developed a problem whereas I can not save, and/or open/close various files. When I open Word to a blank page I get the message "Windows cannot open the existing (normal). When I try to close it I get different messages that I don't understand concerning saving to "normal" "yes/no", etc. then finally closes to my desktop. I uninstalled the program and then reinstalled to only get the same thing happening. Is this repairable and are there any options to fix/resolve? Thanks

Scenario:

Multiple windows of word are open and when I start flipping back and forth, Word Crashes. The temp files that start with the ~ don't recycle when Word crashes either. I've been having this problem since I installed Office 2003 and I've tried reinstalling it several times.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks for your help?

I've been using word 2003 in windows 7 for a couple years now and it always worked fine. Recently, I have been experiencing this issue where if I click on "save as" to save the file and then double click the C drive it just sits there and freezes for a couple minutes (and I get the "not responding" box with everything whited out). I tried to uninstall and reinstall microsoft office 2003 and the problem is still there. I don't know why it's doing that when I click on the C drive because I can save the file to the desktop or under documents right away without any freezing and then move the file -- but this is a hassle. How can I fix this problem?

Please help!
