Outlook error message on opening

Q: Outlook error message on opening

I keep getting SBOLExt.dll which affects my e-mail accounts from opening properly.
That isn't the full error message but when I enter it in Google there are all kinds of offers to fix it (for a fee) or to sell some sort of software product.
I have used Tech Guy support in the past (yes I have made a financial contribution).
Need help getting ride of this problem.
Thanls for your help

Not sure how or why this is happening, but I cannot open Outlook Express anymore. Each time I try to open OE, I get the following pop-up error window:

"msimn.exe - Application Error

The exception inknown software exception (0xc000000d) occurred in the application at location 0x7813fae2"

Anyone have an idea how I can fix this and get Outlook Express up and running again?

Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to set up a second email profile on a PC which already has a profile set up. The new profile needs to be password protected, ie. anyone who logs on to the PC using the default profile should not have access to the second mail profile without an additional password (if that makes sense).
Both profiles use exchange accounts. I've selected the 'Prompt for a profile to be used' option. However when I select the second profile I get the following error message:

Unable to open your default e-mail folders. You do not have permission to log on.

I'm assuming that this is because it is trying to use the Windows logon username and password to access the second profile. Is there any way to get Outlook to prompt for a password when accessing the new mail profile?

I just built a new office PC with Office 2013 (updated the My System Specs list). I've been using 2010 up until now so it's been taking some getting used to. I've noticed an issue where many times I'll double-click to open a message, but the message remains showing as Unread. I have to close the message, then double click to open it again before it will change to Read status.

I do not use the Reading Pane, I always keep it turned off. I prefer to open the message separately by double-clicking the message. This is mainly an issue on my personal Gmail which is set up as an IMAP account in Outlook. This happened very seldom in 2010, but now in 2013 it seems to be happening much more often, but not all the time.

My work Gmail is set up using Google Apps Sync (a MAPI account according to the list of Outlook data files). This issue may have happened a couple of times on this account, but I'm not sure. It's mainly a problem with the IMAP personal email account.

I have tried Google searching info about this issue, but it seems like all the hits are about MAKING the email remain as unread, where my problem is that it won't change to read after opening, at random times.

Hi.

I consolidated some email accounts to drop all mail into Outlook on a PC running Vista. It worked fine.

I then changed antivirals from Penicillin to McAfee. Now, when links or photos are in the body of the email (as opposed to attachments), I get an error message about the config settings don't give permission to open the link or the photo. This is not the case on my laptop running XP home or XP pro. Is it a Vista thing or a McAfee thing?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

This has started happening the last couple weeks. When I click on my email I get this:
Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!', Port: 5100, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90
Now this doesn't always happen, sometimes it connects, and opens right up. Then I can send, recieve and log off. Then maybe a couple hours later I click on and get this same message, I 'X' the message off and click on the send recieve button. Then I either get the same error message, or it may decide to open up, and then I get my mail. Or I may get the error 3 times before I finally get thru. This just started 2 weeks ago, and being this fickle is starting to annoy me. It's a two year old HP with 2 G of RAM and Vista. I can still go to Google online and go right to my email with no problem. Anybody else getting this?

Hello,

I'm trying to setup an email for a coworker and we're having trouble. Sending and receiving seem to work OK but then when we try to open emails by double-clicking on them, we get an error message along the lines of "Can't open the email. Contents can't be accessed. Need to open email online." (this isn't verbatim; I don't have the error message in front of me at the moment).

He's using Outlook 2002. The mail service is with Telus (Calgary, Alberta). The incoming mail server is imap.telus.net (I read somewhere that IMAP mail servers can have problems like this).

Logging onto the server online can be done, and works, but he'd much rather use Outlook as the online webmail is a "pain in the ass" (his words).

Can anybody help please?

I started receiving an error message box that states "This application failed to start because netfxy.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." when attempting to open anything. In the blue bar top area of the error message it states "rundll32exe(or whatever i'm trying to open) - Unable To Locate Component." Now if I click OK on that box, most of the time the application will open successfuly. But when I restart the computer I may receive a total of 15 error messages before the desktop even loads. It seems that the computer is looking for this netfxy.dll file(which I guess doesn't exist) every single time it tries to run something. Help!

A:error message when opening emails

Hi gib88,

From within Outlook click on the Tools menu > choose Send/Receive > Send/Receive Settings, and then Define Send/Receive Groups.
Choose the Edit button.
Click on your IMAP account in the left pane, and then under the Receive Mail Items section choose “Download complete items including attachments”.
You can alternately choose - Use custom behavior defined below - and choose only your Inbox - or the exact folders you want to download the full items to.

If you have a large amount of items in your Inbox - you may want to create sub folders - and customize Outlook to download specific folders.
That may save you from getting file corruption - and / or making Outlook slow to open.

Hope that works for you.

Not sure if this is the correct forum or not, but when I try to open some .jpeg files, I sometimes (key word "sometimes") get the following error message:

"Microsoft Internet Explorer
Root.html,_Route Call(): Routing liquid not found."

I have to click on the "OK" approx. 10 consecutive times before the error message goes away and then seems nothing is affected. Strange thing is that I can try to re-open the same file and it may open or I may get the same error message again. I'm using an older program to view photos and pics (MGI Photosuite III) but I like it, it's easy and has everything I need. It seems the error message doesn't affect anything but it really a nuisance. Thanks for any help or suggestions

or maybe a policy, .. start > run > type gpedit.msc and press enter.

Hi, I am running Windows XP Home Edition V2002 SP3 on an ASUS Eee PC.

When I go into Windows Explorer I get a message "A program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for internet explorer. Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider Google (www.google.com). Internet Explorer will now open search settings where you can change this setting or install more search providers".

Search settings screen opens, and confirms Google as the default search provider so I don't change anything here, just take the clause open and it continues into Explorer login. However EVERY time I go into Explorer I get the above sequence of messages/actions, so the re-setting is not taking effect permanently.

Can anyone advise how to overcome this please?

Hi Guys,

Moved the thread from Networking as I got no answers... perhaps this will yield better results! This pop-up window (Thread Title) started to appear when pressing the button 'New FAX'. Second line goes on to say: Specified procedure could not be found.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to even start to look at where or why this problem is suddenly occurring? This seems to have started after a critical update but I can't be certain. I couldn't roll back to an earlier restore point as it only saves the last two or three (on every boot-up?) so there wasn't one earlier enough to try.

Thanks.

A:Opening A Downloaded Program Get A Error Message

Hello and to BC

First and foremost about this, have you scanned your computer for Any sort of malware before / after doing this download as it may be infected, Just a thought

Secondly, what type of program are you trying to download, if its a simple program such as an AV , or a free game or something like that, from a trusted site, it should not be giving you an error such as that

if its an older exe file maybe it just won't work with your xp, Just a couple of thoughts to toss out there
Hope to hear from you soon

Hi Guys,

This pop-up window started to appear when pressing the button 'New FAX'.

Thanks.

It shows up for every thing i try opening.Im not very good with computers I mean knowledge wise so i have no idea what this is and what to do about it. Also a few days ago I noticed a mysterious account that just decided to show up on my login screen. I thought one of my family members made it but then i asked and they all said it wasnt theirs. It will be a document that I have created in word or excel on the exact same computer. I click on the folder in my library, find my document, double click on it, word or excel appears to start to open as a box displaying one or the other appears and then the error message appears. I click on "OK" in the error message and see the word or excel icon in my lower tray - click on that and there is my document. Not a huge deal but definitely not the way things should work....help?

Maybe running sfc & dism would help.

I run them from a batch file to save time.

sfc /scannow
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow
pause

Save as repair.bat using all files or it will end up with a .txt extention.
Or just run them alone in an Administrator Command Prompt.
Right click your .bat file & choose Run as administrator if you make one.

I am running windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Whenever I try open outlook or anything in office 2003 I receive the following error message: please wait while windows configures microsoft office single image 2003.

The above error message is an identical message sent to this Forum by "drumstik59" but was for Office 2010 instead of Office 2003.

This was solved by the reply given by "Irene" which is :-

"..paste the following commands one at a time and press ENTER.

reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 \Word\Options /vNoReReg/tREG_DWORD/d 1

reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 \Excel\Options /vNoReReg/tREG_DWORD/d 1

reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 \Access\Options /vNoReReg/tREG_DWORD/d 1 "

As I have the same error message with MS Office 2003 but have "\11.0\" in the script instead of "\14.0\" would this solution also apply to Office 2003 ?

A:Receiving error message when opening office 2003

Well, version 11.0 applies to Microsoft Office 2003, so it's certainly worth a try.

How to check the version of Office 2003 products

If you decide to import the modified script into the registry, please make sure you backup the complete registry first and a system restore point wouldn't go amiss either, in case you get problems.

Does anybody know cause/cure for an error message I get whenever I open a previously stored Excel 97 worksheet:

"A document with the name 'XXXX.xls' is already open. You cannot open two documents with the same name, even if the documents are in different folders.
To open the second document, either close the document that's currently open, or rename one of the documents."

There is never a second occurrence of the worksheet open -- at least, not that I can find.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you did some cleaning up, I suggest you look in the folder where the outlook.pst should have been.
If you right click on the folder and select previous versions, maybe you can find the deleted file and restore it from there
The folder can be either C:\Users\<username>\Local\Microsoft\Outlook or C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Outlook Files
Good luck

When I attempt to open an Excel file using Excel 2003, the following error message occurs:

"this file is not in a recognizable format" etc...

Why does this occur, and how can I open the file successfully?

A:Solved: Excel 2003 - error message when opening file

Check the file extension. Am sure it has an extension ".xlsx" which means that the file was created using microsoft office 2007 excel or higher. This is why your computer does not recognize the extension of the file. the 2003 version of excel can only open files with the extension ".xls". The solution to this is to get microsoft office 2007 or higher version and install it or got the following link and download Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack and install it. it will enable you to open the file without having to install the office 2007 which may not be fit for your machine specifications.

Hello,

As mentioned in the title, I've recently encountered problems while opening the folder in which I download files to. What's different from what I've experienced in the past, is that this error doesn't pop up for any other drive/folder but this specific part of the directory. So I'm wondering is it possible to cut the files to a new folder and delete/avoid this folder? Or are my problems greater than something as simple as this?

Background info:
While attempting to upgrade the expansion for WoW: Burning Crusade, I wasn't able to more or less for the fact that my original drive that came with the computer (dell 2001) is starting to fall apart. ie. corrupt file packets I believe it was. This folder is in the same hard drive, so it just possible that the hard drive is going to randomly do this until it completely malfunctions? Or have I downloaded malware of some sort that was never detected? I've run ad-aware, S&D, Anti-Trojan, Symantec AV multiples times making sure to do updates before each scan, but nothing has come up.

If you could please give me some ideas as to how to fix this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I have been having problems with MS outlook. well, the problem is not really Outlook itself, but its being triggered to open by itself. I have gone through almost every website that talks about problems with outlook and done what i can. here is the situation. at first, MS outlook started opening itself and requesting me to create a profile, well I have never used outlook and don't intend on using it, the problem persisted, and I had gotten fed up with the situation, so I have completely removed MS outlook and Outlook Express from my system. I have found out that in internet explorer there is an option for the default mailing program, with the options of MS outlook, Outlook express, and windows live hotmail, well I do use hotmail, so I chose that option, after I did that, internet explorer started opening multiple pages of hotmail which also drove me nuts so i reverted back to the option of using MS Outlook (which doesn't exist on the device because I deleted it) but now I continuously get a message that tells me exactly that, that the program is not found and if the problem persists that I should re-install it (no way on earth am I going to do that, unless I find the source of the problem). I have upgraded a PC from Windows 98 to Windows XP Pro. Prior to the upgrade, Office XP was installed. I also installed AVG freeware anti-virus software which created a plugin for Outlook 2002 to handle the scanning of incoming and outgoing mail.

When I ran a software/hardware compatability check prior to upgrading to XP, it advised that AVG would not work with XP. So I uninstalled the software. I then upgraded to XP which went pretty well except now I get an error when launching Outlook. It says that it cannot find the AVG plugin called by the software. It seems the AVG uninstall did not do the full job. I can still use Outlook, but this error message is just annoying.

I tried re-installing AVG, but it did not fix the problem as it did not reload the plugins into Oultook. I have since uninstalled the software again (and installed Norton Systemworks).

Can anyone advise how I can clear the reference to the AVG plugin when starting Outlook ? Does Outlook have an .INI file which specifies to load the plugin ? By the way, I have tried using Outlook Detect and Repair, and Symantec CleanSweep to try and get rid of the plugin reference, but neither measure was successful.

A:Error when opening Outlook 2002

Try running the detect and repair under Help in Outlook.

It just sunk in you tried the detect and repair. Then I would uninstall Outlook, reboot and then try a reinstall.

IF that doesn't work try deleting out AVG out of the registry, then run the detect and repair.

Hello,

--They are able to login to Outlook, it is ONLY when trying to open new email that that message appears. This does not happen all of the time and restarting Outlook usually corrects it. However they had to restart Outlook 4 times because of this yesterday.

--Outlook 2003, XP, IBM Thinkpad in "docked status", they also use a Blackberry.

Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package ‘PRO11.MSI’ in the box below.”

I do not have the original CDs for operating system or msoffice and therefore can’t find the file. I cancel out and get Error 1706 saying it failed.

This is my first post

When I open Outlook 2007 on my xp pro sp3 dell dimension 5150, I get this message:
"Contact Sync Error: The remote server machine does not exist or is unavailable"

After a few seconds, the connection works.

I have a microsoft exchange outlook license with my isp 1and1.com to synchronize my laptop, iphone and desktop.

It has worked fine for over a year. I have never seen this message before.

Hi allI seem to have developed a problem with MS Outlook 2003. It failed to open in normal windows and failed also in Safe Mode. - Basically the message is the usual ".......failed to open......" Additionally it asked to run the "Diagnose and Restore" (I think that's what's its called) - which I clicked YES. It ran, but to no avail. So I took a screen shot of the error log (as seen below). (NB. The screenshots have been reduced for some reason, so at the top of each screenshot is a black bar "Click To View Full Image)"I then booted into safe mode, and ran HJT, followed by Spybot and AVG AntiSpyware, and also Advanced Windows Care.I then ran another HJT to see if there were any differences. I can post these HJT logs if required to the HJT forum.I then went into Event Viewer and found nothing but "Errors" and "Warnings". I have taken screen shots - maybe they can help to find the Outlook problem. If there is any other info that I could submit, then please let me know.Hopefully, someone can work their way through this and help to solve the problem. Thanks all.Nat

A:Outlook Not Opening Error / Event Viewer

nat,Since you have an open HJT log posted in the HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum, you shouldn't make any changes to your system. That could change the results of the posted log, making it difficult to properly clean your system. At this point, the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.I'm closing this topic until you are cleared by the HJT Team. If, after your log has been cleaned, you still need help, please PM a Moderator and we will re-open this topic. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send me a PM.

I am using Windows XP with Norton Internet Security. I recently loaded Office 2000 PRO. Since then, every time I first open Outlook, I get the following exact message:

Visual C++ Runtime Library
C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~4\OFFICE\OUTLOOK.EXE
Runtime Error
The application has requested Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

If I hit "Ok", Outlook closes. As soon as I re-open Outlook, everything appears to operate fine.

A:Visual C++ Runtime Error When Opening Outlook

you can try this Actually, try all 3 of these if you could:

/CleanFreeBusy Cleans and regenerates free/busy information

/CleanReminders Cleans and regenerates reminders

/CleanViews Restores default views

all of them you just do as I mentioned above: Start, Run, and type:

outlook /cleanfreebusy or /cleanreminders or /cleanviews

if that dont work download the latest service pack for office 2000

When I open up Outlook 2007 it goes through a configuration process and then it asks for the following:
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "OneNoteRWW.msi" in the box below. With Office 2007 disc in the cd drive I cannot locate that file.
Outlook finally does open and it works. I would rather not go through the hassle of canceling out of this dialog box every single time.

Is there anything I can do to eliminate this from happening?

I am running Vista SP2. In the Programs and Features box I see Microsoft Office OneNote 2007 but when I try to uninstall it says - "This product installation has been corrupted. Run setup again from the CD, DVD, or other original installation source".

I have no problem opening OneNote.

When I open Outlook 2003 (11.6359.6360)Sp1 I get an error in the form of two pop ups from Norton Antivirus 2005.
The first popup up says this:
Please wait while Windows configures Norton Anitvirus 2005
The second popup pops up over top of the first and it says:
Norton Antivire 2005 does not support the Repair
feature, please uninstall and reinstall.

If I click ok on the second popup both popups go away and then reappear and I click ok again two more times for a total of three times that these popups occur
If I do nothing and wait, these popups dissapear after exactly 2 minutes.

The Norton AV 2005 I have was purchased over the net and I am not sure how to re-install it as I have no CD to install from. I am also worried about why I need to re-install Norton AV 2005.

Has anyone got any idea whether I should really do the reinstall?
I have run Norton AV and it show no errors at all in its status.

Thanks in advance,

Hi ...this problem started occurring after a friend techie was surfing in the wrong areas..it's insidious...(p.s. all virus scans were negative) I will begin to use IE and then 3 seconds later..I get the standard error screen pop-up message "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." and of course when I use Outlook Express it takes about 10 seconds I get the standard error message again "Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Now originally I would click "no" don't send the report and of course the application would automatically close..HOWEVER when I don't respond at all to the error pop-up window and just move it at the bottom of my screen I can use these applications as normal...However whenever I open up a new IE window I get the error-message pop-up window again...this also happens when I use Windows explorer although it is more random...So here I am using the applications with these error window pop-ups and the bottom of the screen..it's driving me crazy...also

Upon investigation of the dumps that you can view via these error message windows they all have the same thing in common the beginning of the report starts at "AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 7.0.5730.11 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00130711

All of these error reports have ModName unknown and when I open up the dump it has the Sys... Read more

My Outlook Express downloades my messages (new and old, but everytime I click on a message to open it states "There was an error in opening this message. An error has occurred" then I click "OK" . Initially, a second message would come up stating that "there is a problem with your address book, and OE has to be reconfigured. " My OE is completely unusable. I know longer have my Windows XP CD (got lost in a move - sucks, eh!) So, i'm desparate as I don't want to lose all my thousands of messages. Is there anyway of exporting the messages safely so that they are not lost? I know I can do this if I had MS Outlook or Exchange on my system which I don't. I've also done a system restore, that did not work either. Any other ideas as to how I can resolve this problem?

Hi after installing Office Service Pack3 a number of users are receiving a message when opening Outlook "the data file was not closed properly and needs to be checked for errors." These people are using XP Service pack 1 and I have scanned the pst and created a new outlook profile. Does anyone know a fix or a way to disable Outlook from checking the pst file on startup. This usually happens when they turn their machine on in the morning and they shutdown properly thanks James.

A:Outlook Error Message

Hi isandwich

Have you tried logging on to your ISP's mail server to see if they are experiencing any problems?

If you are able to access your messages through the mail server, do you have E-mail scanning enabled?

If so, try disabling the E-mail scanning to rule it out as the cause.

What antivirus program are you using?

Let us know what happens.

I use Outlook on the Windows XP Corporate platform. One minute it was working and the next it was not. When I go to send a message using Word as the editor, I get a message saying "Interface Not Registered." It directs me to use the Outlook editor which DOES send the message. I tried the "fix and repair" instruction and reloaded MS Office. Neither worked. How can I get this back to using Word as the editor?:confused

Hi,

I've been having a problem with my Microsoft Outlook (2007) I am currently using Window's XP.

The error message 'Enter Network Password' keeps popping up and I am unable to send or receive e-mails.

I've checked the password and I'm sure it's right. Through reading another thread i have disabled (i think) COM add in's and I have also tried to set a new e-mail account...

If anyone can shed any light preferably with as little 'computer talk' as possible, I would be most grateful!

Thanks!!

I am using Microsoft Outlook 2007 Windows Vista. When I try to receive emails I get an error message 0x80040600 unknown error and when I try to send I get a message errors have been detected in file C use scanpst.exe to diagnose problems. I use the diagnostic tool and there were no problems found, but I still get the error messages. I need to find out how I can fix this problem.

A:Error Message On Outlook

Hi tazz21,

In most of the cases these type of errors pop up due to corruption of .pst file. Since your default diagnostic tool can repair only the header of the .pst file it may not be able to fix, if it has severe corruption. In this situation you need to use some other third party outlook recovery software. They will repair the entire .pst file even if it highly corrupted.

So better download the demo version of some good third party utility, try it once before using with a copy of your .pst file to avoid the use of wrong tools. If you feel that it can repair your .pst file then use it.

Good Luck.

I am using Outlook 2002 for my e-mail. Every time I click on "New" to start a new e-mail, I get an error message that says, an I quote, " ! a program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this? If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should choose "no"".

I am also having a tremendous amount of trouble with Outlook. About every other time or so, when I try to send an e-mail, Outlook locks up. My only option is to Ctl+Alt+Del to the Windows task manager and shut down Outlook (which, by the way is not responding, but we already knew that). I've tried to reload Windows with the hope that it would reload any damaged files contained in Outlook but no success.

Any ideas??

I am running WinXP and this problem has just surfaced today.

I tried to enter my dentist appointment and, after clicking Save and Close, up came the error. I use MS Office97.
I've been happy with it ever since and see no reason to change. I've had the XP for 1.5 years and this problem just happened today.

I thought it might have been my virus software so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Nothing.
