An Outlook 2003 question... (specifically Forms)

Q: An Outlook 2003 question... (specifically Forms)

Hi guys,

Where i work, we use a lot of the custom Outlook 2003 forms and they generally run pretty well.

Lately when i try to send one (that has been filled out) to a coworker, the form will turn up blank for whoever i send it to. It seems to be not saving and sending? When the recipient opens the form, all the questions will be there but none of the boxes are selected.

I have spoken to 2 different IT guys and neither of them have any idea how to fix this. If anyone has some suggestions, let me know as we are pretty desperate to sort this!

I am making a form in outlook 2003 and what I am trying to do is when you check the check box to enable the text box but i haven't found the way to do this. And it looks like the little I know of Visual basic won't work with outlook.

Also is there a way to grab the computer name and place it in a text box?

I am placing the code in the Script Editor.

Thanks

Does anyone know how to edit the appointment form in office 2003?

Basically, im trying to change the description box into a series of titled fields rather than just a big white box.

When I go into form design mode, none of the boxes can be clicked on or edited at all, unlike the contacts form in design view. The only change in design view appears to be some new tabs at the top P.2 - P.6 and some properties.

Is there any way I can edit it and make it the default form when I click "new appointment" from the calendar?

Thanks

Hey guys! Really could use your help on this one. Okay I have a program that reads emails for a Support box and creates Work Orders based on the Sender, Subject of the email, and the message itself. Well I wanted to create a form in Outlook 2003 that basically limited what they can send to this mailbox, which would be tremendous in getting all necessary information from them as well as make it easier for this program to understand what the user is trying to say. Here in lies the problem. If I make a drop down with a value of "DEPT" then the reader form also needs to show the "DEPT" box, which works for Outlook, but never is ready by my email monitoring Program. Is there a way that I can say for the user to fill out:
Dept: [this is the department
Type: [This is the problem type]
Subtype: [This is they problem subtype]
Category: [This is the problem category]

And take all that info and put it into a message box so that this email monitoring program understands what I'm trying to say? I'm really going to need your minds on this one. Anyone have any ideas?!?!

Thanks in advance all!

I have created a custom form for telephone messages in OUtlook 2003 and it contains user defined fields such as "Caller Name", "Company" etc.

The form works great... the only thing is that when the recipient receives the email message, they only see all of the details if they open the message.

Most of my colleagues use the reading pane to review messages and these fields do not display in the reading pane.

My question is.... is there any way I can make my form fields to display in the Reading Pane so the message does not actually have to be opened.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thank You!

A:Outlook 2003 forms

The problem is that the form is probably being held locally on your PC. If it is loaded onto the server then it should work perfectly fine. I have seen this before when I tried to setup a phone message form for former users of Lotus Notes and Groupwise.

I've designed a new form in Outlook and added an ActiveX control (Date Time Picker from CCRP http://ccrp.mvps.org/index.html?controls/ccrpdtp5.htm
to a contact page. Everything works fine except the date is not retained when I save and exit the contact. It keeps defaulting back to the current date next time I access it.

Am I missing something?

Any advice is appreciated.

We need to build a form in Outlook 2003, which will be sent to a customer to fill out their details. The details should get sent back to our email, we also need to be able to edit these fields and resend to the customer to update at anytime.

I have gone through the process and seem familiar with making the forms.

But when it is sent, it appears blank in the inbox and sent items...

What do I have to do in order to have it working, and working on the customers ensuring there settings will allow it to work?

Hello,

I am in the beginning stages of customizing Outlook forms. I would like the same field info e.g. Business Phone to appear on both the Contact (IPM.Contact) and Journal Entry (IPM.Activity) forms.

If I add the Business Phone field to the Journal form will it automatically be populated with the info from the Contact form when I open it?

As I said I'm new at this and if my question is hard to follow please tell me and I'll retry.

Thanks,

So, I just picked up a Samsung L200 camera and for whatever reason, the USB Cable that came with the camera has one bit, the end that is going into the camera of the USB Cable has these pointed outward metal prongs that stick out and prevent me from inserting the cable into the camera. I don't know if there's something specific I'm supposed to do, or if it's as simple as just, pushing the prongs inward and being done with it.

~ Here's what it looks like, the bit on the right side of the cable, you can see how the two pieces are sticking outward.

Hi,I know that the most recommended Hosts file is the MVPS one, but since I have Spybot 1.4 and it has the option to easily add its own Hosts file, I chose to do that (since I'm a newbie at all this, and it seemed pretty hassle free). I may graduate to the MVPS one at some point though... 1. Do I need to turn off the DNS Client Service if I'm using a Hosts file, even if I don't notice a slowdown with the internet (which I don't with it on and using the Spybot Hosts file)? Does leaving it on cause the Hosts file to not work properly (or form a security risk) in any way?2. Is there any new/different risk with using a Hosts file? (Meaning, if you're using it, is it possible it can get "manipulated" by spyware or something and it's something you need to check somehow? If so, how?)3. If I wanted to add in the MVPS Hosts file, could I just download the .txt file for it and cut/paste it right after the Spybot one? Could adding it in wrong mess something up?4. Any issue/problem, or risk with using both at the same time? Thanks for the help!

A:Question About Using Hosts File (specifically Spybot's)

A bit more...After adding the Spybot Hosts file in the Spybot program, I decided to remove it to see if it was the cause of something my library website not working right. Before removing it, I tried flushing my DNS cache with "igconfig /flushdns" and then removed the Spybot Hosts file (using the option to remove it from within Spybot S&D 1.4, which takes a few minutes to remove it though it adds it instantaneously). Then for the heck of it, I flushed the DNS cache again. But things still seem to be acting slow. 5. See anything in what I did that would cause any issue? Thanks again!

I recently installed MS Office 2003 and am now having a problem with Outlook.

Whenever I receive an email from someone not in my contact list and want to reply, a window pops up that basically makes me add that person to my contact list manually. If I do not completly fill out the numerous boxes, the reply will not send.

In Outlook 2000 there was a setting that avoided this but I cannot find it in Outlook 2003. There should be one that automatically puts that person in my contact list or just goes on without doing anything.

Anyone know where the setting is located?

Thanks

I was working on my bosses computer when she was out of the office, doing maintenance and stuff. I was cleaning out her inbox in Outlook 2003, mostly moving junk e-mail out. I was assigning junk messages to the block senders list and clicked "Do not Show again" on the warning message that appeared. Now my boss would like that "warning" message to show again. Is there any way to display that "warning" message after moving an e-mail address to the blocked senders list?

I have searched all the tabs in the options menu and searched on the internet and still can't find a way to display that option.

Please let me know

I want to completely block a person from my email and want that person to think I have closed out my email account.

Is there a way get an automatic "undeliverable" kind of reply to occur if this person emails me? Without having to terminate my email account? Is there some sort of 'rule' I can create? I read on a forum today that someone was able to do that and I want to know how to do that.

Very odd ...

Double check to make sure the box "Schedule an automatic send/recieve every X minutes" has a check in it. Also make sure it is set to 2 min.

You can find this in Tools>Options>Mail Setup Tab>Send/Recieve... under the "Setting for group "All Accounts"" heading

Also check that when you click on the Mail Setup Tab that you have a tick in the 'Send immediatly when connected'.

Hope this can help in anyway.

On one of my users machines, I changed from Outlook express to Outlook 2003 to give some of the bennies of 2003. When I did, all of a sudden the text area has started double spacing. The message shows up on the receiver's end correctly with the proper background etc. The signature is proper.

This user sends the copy to herself to make sure it has gone out and when she receives it, the text is double spaced and the background that she has chosen ends up as an attachment. I have found a statement about the signature from MS Outlook that she needs to edit her signature putting in "Shift Enter" rather than regular "Enter". When she receives it back, is there a possibility that this is what is causing the double spacing?

Tks for the help

I have set up different signatures for each of 4 accounts I use in Outlook 2003. Whenever I create a new outgoing email, the email is always set to come from my default account and then puts in that account's signature. Even when I then use the "Accounts" button to change which account I want to send the message from, I still need to erase the [default] signature and manually drop in the correct signature via the "Signature" button. If every new email is always going to automatically come from the default account and always puts in that signature, what is the point of associating a signature with an account? Does that setting only help for replies and forwards? Is there no way to have Outlook automatically choose the account to send from (and, then, it's signature) by seeing whcih accounts mail folder is in the browsing pane?

Thanks

Is there any setting or any way in Outlook 2003 to have an attachment that is received in an email to automatically go back to the sender when he/she is sent a reply? We use Exchange Server. We have times here in our office where someone will send another employee an attached file such as a spreadsheet. The recepient will open it up from the Outlook mail screen, make a change to it and click File - Save. When you then send the reply to the email the attachment does not remain with it. The only way we have been able to get this to work is to open the attachment in Word or Excel, click File - Send to - Mail Recepient As Attachment. This takes extra time because the recepients name or names, have to be reinserted in the email box. Thanks in Advance.

A:Outlook 2003 Question About Attachments

Do a forward instead of a reply - then you only need to enter the email address. We have 2003 Outlook and an Exchange Server so it's the same type of system.

rkessel,

Unfortunately, you need something like the Transport Rules available in Exchange Server 2007. Since you are running Exchange Server 2003, you can look to a product like Exclaimer Signature Manager. You can find more information at their website here... http://www.exclaimer.com/products/outlook-email-signatures/outlook-email-signatures.aspx

If at some point you upgrade your Exchange Server to 2007, you can follow the recommendations in this thread... http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvravailabilityandisasterrecovery/thread/a8d7772a-2492-49c6-ba1e-19d4578f0322

This is probably a really silly question but I'm about to go POSTAL on my email account.

I currently use, and have for several years, Yahoo as my personal email account. But for the last month or so it keeps getting slower and slower to open and that message that says something about "Yahoo mail taking a little longer than usual to open do you want to switch back to classic for this session" keeps coming up at least once or twice a day. I'm also concerned that not all of my email messages are being sent, even though they show in my sent folder, because 9 times out of 10 I will cc: myself and sometimes I don't get a copy of that email in my inbox.

So, here's my question. Can the average everyday personal home use computer user use Outlook as their primary email account? I use it at work through our server and all that technical stuff but I don't know how it would work for an everyday home user like me.

I pay for Yahoo Mail Plus so I know I have the option to use the POP3 to set it up in Outlook, I just don't know how. I'm currently running Windows XP Professional, IE 7 with Microsoft Office 2003. I connect to the internet at home through a wired Ethernet connection provided by the property company.

Also, if this can be done will I be getting duplicate emails (in Outlook and in Yahoo) or will everything automatically go into Outlook?

Hi Wendy,

Yahoo should had a help section on their site that has either generic mail client settings information or different sets of specific information for different mail programs. I get Premium Yahoo mail as part of our DSL service and my default help pages are all geared towards DSL account users. I would suspect they would have a similar section for paying customers.

Outlook has several options for how it downloads mail from an SMTP server. You can have Outlook handle new incoming messages as follows ...

- Leave the messages on the server forever (or at least until you delete them in the web mail interface).

- Immediately remove them from the server when downloaded from the server.

- Delete them from the server only when you delete them in Outlook

- Leave them on the server for a given number of days and then delete them.

This is my first post. I hope I'm doing it right. I work for lawyers. (Don't shoot the messenger!) At times, they need to present printed e-mails in court. Using Outlook 2003, when an e-mail is printed the recipient's name--or the name of the person from whose Inbox the e-mail was printed (it may have been forwarded)--appears at the top of the document. Does anyone know of a means/program to cause the original sender's name to print instead of the recipient's? Thank you for any help you can give.

Hello I found this on the Microsoft website:http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/...2426401033.aspxAbout printing and print stylesApplies to: Microsoft Office Outlook 2003In any folder, you can print individual items (item: An item is the basic element that holds information in Outlook (similar to a file in other programs). Items include e-mail messages, appointments, contacts, tasks, journal entries, notes, posted items, and documents.) or a view (view: Views give you different ways to look at the same information in a folder by putting it in different arrangements and formats. There are standard views for each folder. You can also create custom views.) of all items in the folder. For example, in Calendar you can print the contents of one appointment, or you can print the view of everything in the Calendar folder. Each type of item and each view has a print style (print style: A combination of paper and page settings that determines the way items print. Outlook provides built-in print styles, and you can create your own.), which determines the layout, font style and size, and other formatting options. To modify how an item or view is printed, modify the print style. You can also create your own print styles for items and views, and in the case of views, you can change the look of the view to modify how it prints. The contents of an item are printed with the most common fields visible, such as the From, Sent, and Subject fields in an e-mail message. I have Outlook 2003 SP3 running on 3 computers. The load is identical on all three machines . When I compose an email and click on Send what then happens varies from computer to computer. On two of the computers, the item is sent to the OutBox and then immediately sent to the ISP server. On the third, the item sits in the OutBox until the Send/Receive button is clicked in the Standard ToolBar. As best I can tell, all three machines have Outlook configured identically.

I have looked through the Send/Receive options but can find nothing that suggests a control for "send immediately" other than "Send Immediately When Connected" and that is checked.

Any thoughts?

A little clarification regarding the specific computers. Two are laptops (IBM T40 and Dell M4300), one is a desktop (Dell9100). One laptop and the desktop do not exhibit this problem; the Dell M4300 does. The two computers that do not have the problems have recent (last few months) complete rebuilds (hard drives were going; drives were replaced and ground up reinstall of opsys and all programs done). However, the same MSOffice CD was used for install on all computers and all installs of Office2003 were upgraded to SP3. The Dell M4300 is a year old with factory installed opsys.

It acts just like IE.
If you click and drag the open window to size by the corners and edges, then use File>Close instead of the X in the upper right hand corner, it should "remember" and stay that way the next time it's opened. From then on, you can go back to the quick close X.
You'll have to do it for each type of window open in outlook. (i.e Send, Receive, Reply, etc).

I would like to "combine" ALL the email adresses I have in outlook in the :TO:" field when I sent an email.
For example: I sent an email to 10 of my friends and i put all the 10 email adresses in the to-field, but I would like to combine all of them, so for example, there is only written: "Friends" in the TO: field, but beneath the FRIENDS in the to-field, are actually ALL OF THE 1o adresses i put in in first place.
Can anyone help me here?

PS: I'm using Microsoft Outlook 2003

A:Solved: Question about Microsoft Outlook 2003

First, you need to have all your friends in your contacts.

Click File -> New -> New Distribution List.
Give it a name, ie; "Friends"
Click Select Members and add whoever you want to the list.
Click the Save and Close button

Start a new message and either type "Friends" in the TO: field or click the TO: button and select Friends from the list.

I have consolidated several Outlook Contact lists recently; two Outlook 2000 and one Outlook 2003 into a single Outlook 2003 install. I did this by exporting each 2000 folder as a .pst file and then importing them into the 2003 Contact folder. Afterwards, I found I was missing about 100 contacts out of 1500. These were random contacts, and not from one particular .pst file. When I happened to scroll down to the bottom of the current 2003 Contact folder, I found a second "contact" listing with the missing entries. It is not a second contacts folder, it is a second "contacts" listing in the main "Contacts" folder. In other words, I have two "contacts" listings in the main "Contacts" folder; same spelling, etc. I tried to copy/move the 100 entries to the main 1500 entries but no luck. I then moved the 100 entries to a subfolder, checked the main "Contacts" folder to make sure I only had one "contacts" listing left, and then I moved them back. This created the second "contacts" listing again. I then copied both sets of "contacts" to a second subfolder, and they merged fine. I then deleted all the entries in the main "Contacts" folder and copied the entries in the subfolder back to "Contacts". When I opened it, I had two sets of "contacts" listings again. I even tried to export the 100 as a .pst file and then import them back in "Contacts"; no go.

I recently purchased a computer with MS Office 2003 installed. I need to uninstall Office 2003 and install Office XP but want to keep Outlook 2003. I know I need to uninstall all of Office 2003 to install Office XP and then need to update Outlook to v2003.

My question: will I lose access to all the email already downloaded when I uninstall Office 2003, install Office XP, then upgrade to Outlook 2003?

A:Uninstall/Reinstall Outlook 2003 Question

Hi Chris286

Do a Search for .pst
Copy the .pst files as a backup to another directory, My Documents or a folder on the Desktop.

You can then use the backup .pst file if the Office uninstall/reinstall corrupts or writes over those files.

Once you have Outlook 2003 reinstalled.
If it does not open with your Personal Folders (.pst) file, you can move the .pst file back into the Outlook directory where you originally found it.
Then open it with Outlook 2003,
File > Open > Outlook Data File
Browse to the .pst file and select it.

**If you copy the .pst file to a CD as backup, first copy it back to the hard drive, then check it's properties to verify it is not marked Read-only before opening it with Outlook 2003.

Let us know if that works for you or not.

HI, I have a question re Outlook 2003's address book access while composing an email. I know Outlook uses a cache/buffer scheme to save Contacts entries once you have used them for the first time. Enter the first char or two and it offers suggestions. Problem is after a C drive format and XP reinstalll, my cache is gone. To send an email to someone already in my Contacts list, I have to: 1) leave my new email, 2) open Contacts, 3) search and find the person of interest, 4) place the email addr in paste buffer, 5) go back to the email and paste it in TO field. There has to be a better way since many lesser email programs do not require this painful route. I know I only have to do this once since it's now in the cache for future access. Is there a better way ???

Thanks,
Eric

Hi guys! I know this must be a stupid question but on my old laptop with Outlook 2003 I could do this, and on my new laptop with Outlook 2003 I can't.

When I click on "NEW EMAIL" and start composing, I was able to write in an email address and subject and body, then print it before I sent it out. The print out contained the email (to and from) along with the subject. Now on the new PC when I do this, it only shows the body.

Is there something I am doing wrong???? Help guys! :hotbounce

I know where the archive (.pst) file is, so I have a question with two parts to it:
How do you get all my previous entries back from the archive file and if I do get my previous entries back, will it erase/overwrite my future appointments/events?

File-->Open, choose the pst and open it. Select and copy the appointments (I find this possible in LIST view). Go to your regular PST calendar and paste.

No. It should only erase any appointments that are at the same exact time/please/etc. Make a copy of your current calendar first, just to be safe. Copy the archive into the copy. Did it work? Then it should certainly work with your regular calendar.

I'm hoping someone with long term experience with Outlook can help me answer a question about a web scripting feature that was apparently accessible through Outlook 2000.

I have a part time job in a small bookstore, and to help a coworker fix a problem with his e-mails in a corrupted Outlook 2000 installation, I used an Office 2003 Standard disc licensed to the store to upgrade his Outlook and this quickly fixed his e-mail problem.

However, later he came to me and described a feature within Outlook 2000 that was apparently missing in the upgrade. In Outlook 2000 he was able to select under "Favorites"
a website announcing sales and events at the bookstore and by entering a password access a simple web scripting program from within Outlook that allowed him to make changes to this website.

The "Favorites" toolbar no longer appears in Outlook 2003.

Since I have never used Outlook, I only had a vague idea of what he was describing and no idea how to recommend a solution.

Is anyone familiar with this feature? Can you tell me if it still exists within Outlook 2003 and how to find it or has that function been assigned to another program entirely?

Please let me know.

Outlook will pop up a warning box saying that the rule will be applied to all incoming messages. Accept the warning and then in the next screen, check off the boxes to move the message to a specified folder and to stop processing more rules.

Hi,

I'm using Outlook 2003, and I have a rule setup to reply to any incoming emails with an "We received your email, will respond as soon as possible" kind of thing.

The problem is, the auto-response is causing all the emails in my inbox to be marked with the "Replied" arrow. Outlook 2000 didn't do this, and it's messing up my ability to know which emails I have actually gotten around to.

While I -could- have the rule flag them, too, I would have to always remember to un-flag emails as I respond to them, which is hugely prone to errors.

I would think lots of people who have an auto-response would want to know which emails they have "really" responded to, vs those that have just gotten an auto-response so far. Does anyone know of a way to do this that doesn't require remembering to take the extra step for every email of setting or unsetting a flag manually?

Thanks!!!!!

-Daniel

Is there a way that I can automatically have it format it just to say "User" in the "To:" field, without having to add that user to my contacts? All I want is the recipients name in that field, as I'd prefer it to not display their e-mail address there as well.

Hi, I am creating a form in Word 2003 (Running over Window XP Professional). I have inserted a field called Sdate and on the next line Firstname. When I reference the field Firstname in other parts of the document, it also includes the field Sdate.
So my result looks like this:
Dear Sdate
Firstname

Dear Firstname

I am having no problems with referencing other fields, only these two. I have removed the date field and put it back in and still the same result.

Hope this makes sense and hope you can help.

Hi lotsacats,

Are you using Bookmarks as Field References?
Maybe the Ref for Firstname also spans the previous line including Sdate:

In Tools /Options/View tick the Bookmarks box and then check if the square brackets [ ] are like this:

[Sdate
Firstname]

If so, delete the bookmark for Firstname and recreate it ensuring it only covers the Firstname line.

I have a form bound to one query. The form is distinct on name. There are several records for each person. When I update the form it's only updating the first record for that person. My fields are... name, ssn, dob, ph id and cost. The first 3 fields are the same for that specific person and the ph id is getting updated in the form. Cost is the only field that's different which creates many records for one person. I need the form to update all records when I enter the ph id. I've tried everything except VB coding. Hello!

I'm a major beginner trying to create an access database for client management/data reporting.

I have 6 tables and all the underlying relationships set up how I think they should go.

Here's my current hang-up (and there have been/will be many!!):

I'm trying to create an main "Intake" form that is linked to 3 tables; tblclient, tblintake, tblecase. (client has a 1-M relationship with intake, intake 1-M with case).

On the form that I created, case is a subform, while intake is integrated into the main form. The issue is a staff member will have to either fill in (or tab through) every single entry that's linked to tblclient, before they can start entering data that's linked to tblintake, and the same thing for tblcase. It seems so simple, but I can't figure it out! Is there a way around this?

A:Access 2003 Forms

co11co11, welcome to the Forum and the wonderful world of Access.
I am not sure why you have the intake integrated into the main form, I would have thought that the logical form design would be a Client mainform with an Intake Sunform which has it's own Case subform.

As to your question "a staff member will have to either fill in (or tab through) every single entry that's linked to tblclient, before they can start entering data that's linked to tblintake, and the same thing for tblcase", isn't that what you want them to do. ie fill in all the data?
If you just want partial filling in of data the user can use the mouse to move to the other Forms to enter data in to them.
However something needs to be in the mainform to set up the correct link to the subform(s)

I need to require that certain fields in a form be populated before a user can move on to the next record in that form.

I included the following formula in the BeforeUpdate property for the form:

I've tested this formula and it works. The problem I have is when I click OK on the message box the form advances to the next record. I would like to keep the same record visible that prompted the message.

Can anyone advise how I do that? Is there something wrong with my formula or do I need to do something else?

A:Solved: Access 2003 Forms

How are you inserting the data? With a button click, or moving off the last field? If your using a button, I would use the Click event. Test each field's text box/combo box/etc to see if they contain data AND the proper type of data (IE you expect Alpha characters in a test box and someone tries to enter numbers). Once all your conditions are met, then and only then do you add the data to your table. Otherwise, move the focus back to the control that needs data.

IF your inserting data by moving off the last field, try using the before insert event Do your checking here. You might also check out the On Dirty event (either use the on-line help or do a google search).

Hi

1) You can use the OnClick event of those checkboxes, so that when a user clicks a checkbox, a macro clears the other checkboxes. But this is needlessly complicated. Use optionbuttons instead. Use frames to create optionbutton groups

2) Use the Enter or DuobleClick event of the textbox to show the calendar popup. I'm not sure about the actual object or ActiveX control to use...

Hello

Using continuous forms, I will see a series of my records, stacked one on top of the next. Is it possible to devise a way to highlight areas on ANY record related to values in the record.

Example.

Two records (R1, R2), if a date field in R1 is less than 30 days away from Now(), then show a flag (maybe image.visible=yes) only for that record.

Meantime, R2 does not need to show the flag because the rule applied does not evalute as true.

I don't think this is do-able - you guys may know otherwise?

Hey everybody

Okay, been playing around with our Access Database here.

I was wondering if there is a way to hide certain elements on a form, when a button is clicked to view the form?

For example, I have a form called newHireForm, that is shown when you click on a button on the switchboard. Now, I also have a form called recruitingContactForm, which has a lot of the same information that newHireForm has, except it has different dates, and a few different fields.

Now, I figured I could just have one central form called newAgentsForm, for instance. Then on my switchboard have a button for seeing New Hire, and then a button on the switchboard that lets me see Recruits Contact. Is there a way to let certain fields be visible, while others are not based on what button I press on the switchboard?

I hope I was pretty clear with explaining. It's hard to put in words exactly what I want to do.

Thanks

I was losing track of things on my website, so I thought a data base would be very helpful. I've set out to learn Access, but I'm still a beginner and I'm stuck on 3 things so far.

I have set up and related several tables including:
website pages (title, description, date written, etc.) auto number primary key
graphics (file name, size, description) file name primary key
keywords (word, stat1, stat2, stat3) word primary key

I've also set up junction tables since the website pages table has a many to many relationship with both graphics and keywords.

Question 1: How do I make a form that has multiple sub-forms?

I tried to use the wizard to make a data entry form. I wanted a form with multiple sub-forms.
If I enter the fields from 2 tables, I can easily make a form with a sub-form. If I enter fields from all 3 tables, the wizard acts completely differently and I can't figure out how to do sub-forms.

Question 2: How can I make a combo box that will cover multiple fields at once?

I fill the graphics table as I make the graphics. I wanted to use a combo box so I could choose an existing graphic OR add a new one. The combo box works fine for the file name.
The problem:
I want it to auto fill the size and description if I choose an existing file name OR allow me to enter size & description if I enter a new file name.

Question 3: How can I handle many to many relationships between records within one table?

I’m working in Access 2003 building a database in which the records will all have the same basic fields, but will be a library of info covering a very wide range of topics. In order to make easier how the information is pulled out by the end user, I want to very strictly control how the info is categorized when it is initially stored in the db. I cannot allow careless input clerks to misspell any of the labels that categorize the record they are entering, or perhaps invent their own labels.
So, each record starts with several columns of categorization labels. The clerk will be presented with a series of drop-down lists and will select one option from each list in order to categorize the record. Each choice will fill in the corresponding column in the categorization section of the record. The options available in each of these drop-down lists are carefully controlled to represent the only sets of acceptable parameters to describe the information contained in the record at each level of detail. Each successive column in this part of the record, representing one of the drop-down lists, covers the next-deeper level in a hierarch of information labeling for the records. As you follow the columns left to right, you are describing the information in the record with greater and greater detail.

A simple example: The first drop-down shows the options “animal, vegetable, mineral”. You select “animal”. Upon you making that choice, the system returns to you a list of ONLY ANIMALS t... Read more

blothrop, welcome to the Forum.
It is quite common. The key to successfully doing this is twofold. The first is to base each successive Combo on the selection made in the previous one, the second is to requery each combo once the previous combo has made it's selection.
If you Advance search this forum for poster OBP and Combo in the text you should find various databases that I have posted that do just that.

A long time ago, I found an outlook form called 'While you were out'. It looked like one of those phone message pads we all have on our desk. Our administrative office would like to use something like this, but for the life of me, I can't remember where I downloaded it from. I've already looked on Microsoft Office site but couldn't find it. Does anyone use this type of form and could you tell me where you got it. Thanks.

I am currently trying to set up an outlook form consisting of various combo boxes and text fields which users can eventually access via our intranet, complete the relevant information and submit their results. I have never actually designed an outlook form and was wondering if anyone could direct me to a good tutorial so I can read up on the basic design tips etc just to get me started. In truth I didn't think it would be that difficult as I am very familar with Access and the tools etc are pretty much the same however on playing about with this the controls that I have designed on the form are not showing up when the message is actually sent and I've no idea why.

Any help anyone could offer me or lead me to to read up on this would be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Hi folks,

I need help with creating a form on Outlook.

What I need to do is creat a form that gives you a choice of sending a mail to a choice of two destinations with a copy always to the sender.
And I need it to have a number of fields that you are prompted to complete. Probably about 12 fields.

Can anybody tell me how to produce something like this or can anybody point me to a good user guide?

Thanks,

Peaker

I've searched high and low, yet I cannot find the answer to my question.

Basically what I'm trying to do is make a customer-editable lease contract document for a customer of mine. I know the basics of Word forms, and I've entered the various fields (ie. Lessee's Name, Address, Phone, etc), and there are a couple of redundancies in information (specifically names of Lessee and Co-Lessee, so text). Instead of making the lessee type out the same info twice, I thought that I'd set it up so that if they enter their name at the top, it would be entered at the bottom in the same field automatically. I can get this behaviour to work time and time again with numbers (quite simple really), but is this at all possible with text? No matter what I've tried, I can't get it to work, and I've tried everything except ask someone. I'm a reasonably logical and intelligent guy, but I'm at wit's end here with this one.

Thanks,
Cam

I had internet explorer in my old computer but I gave it away to family overseas.

I forgot to clear the "autocomplete forms, password" in that computer.
Does the "autocomplete forms" go away after 20 days like the history does OR does the "autocomplete forms stay there forever unless it was deleted?

Thankyou very much!

A:Autocompete forms QUESTION.

Did a lot of looking and could not find a definitive answer as to the longevity of the stored info. My computer is a refurbished one and used to belong to a electronics firm. I went in and used the "Clear Forms" button and it took awhile to finish the task.

If they are your relatives I would just ask them to go in and clear the forms and passwords through Internet Options\Content\Autocomplete and Clear History options.
