I need to put sequential numbers.

Q: I need to put sequential numbers.

Hello,

I need to put on pages sequential numbers. I know that MS Word can do that but the problem is that I need to put those number at several different locations per page, but not sure if Word can do that.

Is there way to do that in MS Word or is there dedicated software for that?

Please see the image. Thanks.

I'm doing quite a long spreadsheet in Excel and need to number each row sequentially. I know there used to be a way to do this but maybe it was in an older version of Excel. I'm currently using Excel 2002. I tried using a forumla to add one to the row number above but realized when I sort the sheet by a different column, the row number changes. If anyone can tell me how I can number the rows without having to hand type each number, I would appreciate it.

Do a search on Google for Labels Unlimited. It has many many templates for Avery labels. I've been using it for ages. It has many facilities, sequential numbering being one of them

Hi all,

I am running a few 'blank' invoices with different invoice numbers on each of them to send to clients. The number goes like this: 053/12 054/12 055/12 and want it to increase each time I print. At the moment, we do it manually and it takes forever and I am sure there has to be a macro that would do this for me but no idea how to do it. I'm a beginner with excel so really need some step by step help if possible.

The numbers are in cell J2 and in cell J49 (same number but on different sides of the invoice page). I obviously want the "055" number to go up but not the /12 as this represents the year.

Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated!

Hi everyone,

I've got a problem which I feel is going to be easy to solve, but I think I'm lacking that crucial nugget of knowledge to achieve it! I've tried a couple of similar things in VBA that I've picked up on the web, but I just cant get it to work.

What I'd like to do to the attached spreadsheet (sample attached) is where the number '1' is displayed in 'H20' for that to display a different number on each printed copy.

It needs to print numbers 1-22, then 29-42, then 51-54.

Ideally, I'd also like to add a 'Print' button to the spreadsheet so that just pressing that would automate the whole process, but one step at a time!

Thanks for your time!

Hi,

I work for a pie company that uses recipes to track the batch numbers of the ingredients used.

So we print out a recipe page (in MS Word and excel) each time the recipe is made and they write the batch code next to the ingredient.

What I would like is to have a sequential number (or even a random 5 digit) at the top of the page that changes each time the page is printed.

This then gives me a unique number for each batch produced.

I hope that makes sense and the solution is easy....?

Thanks for all/any posts.

Hi all,

Have just discovered a "new" problem on a Vista machine and wondering if anyone has any suggestions? Especially on a bulk-rename utility that might help (linux or windows OK for the util).

Something has gone through the entire system (system and user files) and renamed the majority of the files to filename(number).ext, eg winload(49283).exe. Each file seems to have a unique and sequential number.

Because of this, the system fails to boot.

I'll attach a directory listing from the affected windows folder (again, not just the windows folder).

I've fixed a hell of a lot of machines for people over the years. This is the first time I have seen something like this. Am hoping someone else has?

Thanks in advance for shedding any light on this.

(And no, system restore is not an option - that's also been affected to some degree!)

Hi Newbie Here

Let's try and get this down in some sort of sense!

I have a form which is to be filled in by users. The data is then transferred onto a master sheet within the document. That's all sorted and works fine.

One of the areas to be completed on the form is "Order Number". I need this to be an automatically generated number (starting at 1000). Everytime a user opens the form the next available number is generated automatically.

I am hoping this can be done via formula on the mastersheet (no idea which one though!), however if there is a more suitable way - Macro's or VB then I would love to know how!

Many Thanks in advance

Hi there...I'm new to VBA and I don't know if what I need to do can actually be done.
We have forms that we put out on our companies web site that employees can down load and use. One of which is a travel expense reimbursement form. Accounts Payable uses the Trip Number when reimbursing the expense.
I need Excel to create a unique number every time the form is downloaded from the website. Maybe I'm not understanding the posts I've read but it seems that the Excel file needs to be saved on one computer/used by one individual to do this.
Is there a way to create a new travel number each time the file is downloaded and opened or does Excel need the user to save the file so that it knows which number to start with the next time?
The number I'm looking to create would be T100000, T100001, T100002 etc. It would need to be entered in cell K5. The file also needs to be an Excel 97-2003 document to be loaded to our site.

Thanks in advance!

Hi!

I need to create an Excel spreadsheet for invoices. I'd like the original to be Invoice 000001. Then, each time I open the sheet, I'd like it to increment +1, i.e., the first time I open the original, it becomes Invoice 000002, and so on.

I've been several hours now searching, and either nothing quite seems to fit, or it;s too advanced for me. I have zero macro experience, SEQ experience, etc., so if you have some thoughts, I would TRULYt appreciate it if you supplied them as though you were talking to your Labrador Retriever!

I know this is a matter of some fairly rudimentary code, but issues like where the code gets pasted, etc., are stumping me so far.

Thanks for any and all help!

Hello,

I am using Excel 2010 to create a catalog of products that do not have their own serial numbers. I am auto-generating serial numbers in a userform as each product is added to the catalog. The new serial number is always the previous +1.

I need to create the option of an exception, where the new serial number would not be +1, but rather something else to indicate that the item being entered is the same as the previous with only a slight variation. A letter or a +.1 would work.

Is this possible?

Here is the code I am using:

Code:
Private Sub UserForm_Activate()
Me.Label1SerialNumber.Enabled = True
Dim iRow As Long
Dim ws As Worksheet
Set ws = Worksheets("MediaCatalog")
'find last data row from database
iRow = ws.Cells(Rows.Count, 1) _
.End(xlUp).Row
If ws.[A2].Value = "" Then
Me.Label1SerialNumber.Caption = 10001
Else
Me.Label1SerialNumber.Caption = ws.Cells(iRow, 1).Value + 1
End If
End Sub

Hi, welcome to the forum.
You are generating numbers based upon numbers, this is okay, but if you add an A or something non-numerical you will get an error.
The exceptions could be entered by adding a promt, is this an exception? if yes then you edit the resulting serial number before saving it but the next batch will not add 1 to 100001A +1

Hey everybody.

I don't know if the title is a good one for this problem, but here goes.

I have a column that has numbers in this format: 54321-1234

Now, I want to take off the last 4 numbers, and the dash, from all the numbers in the column, using a formula. So that the output would be: 54321.

I want it so the first 5 numbers stay the same, but the dash and last 4 are gone. Is this possible?

Thanks.

This was asked before by KlausdB:

"I have 4 x HDDs on SATA AHCI (Intel Controller) in Native Mode and 1 x ESATA on Win 7 Pro X64.
I noted that looking in Admin. Tools\Computer Management\Storage (as an example) the 1st HDD (Port 0 in the AHCI BIOS) is showing as "Disk 2" instead of my expectation of

"Disk 1".
Selecting the Drive's Properties correctly shows the "Location 0 (Channel 0, Target 0, Lun 0)".
I also note that the Disk Number allocation in Windows will change randomly after some reboots/startups - going anywhere from "Disk 1" to "Disk 4". I can force/replicate this

behaviour by removing the ESATA drive.
Is this expected behaviour?
It doesn't appear to create any operating issues at this stage, however, is there a way I can force the Drive to always map to (eg) Device 0 --> Disk 1, Device 1 --> Disk 2,

etc?
Thanks."

This was answered by Nicholas Li:

"As far as I know, how the disk is plugged physically and the order it is displayed are not related. For a simple example, if a drive is plugged to SATA interface 4 and it is the only disk, it will be displayed as Disk 0. If there is no related issue about

I have three SATA hard drives :
Main system/boot drive , WD Caviar Black 1 TB, connected to the SATA 0 port
A backup drive, identical WD Caviar Black 1 TB, connected to the SATA 1 port
Another dirve, Hitachi 1 TB, connected to the SATA 2 port
When I installed Win 7, only the main drive was connected... and it remains the only drive with active/system/boot partitions.

QUESTION 1.
All three drives reporr correctly in the BIOS, and in the right order, but why is it that only one of the drive (the one on SATA port 1) has a "SATA:" prefix and the others have a "HDD:" prefix ?

QUESTION 2,
Why is it that the assignment of Disk #0, 1, 2 ( as seen in Disk Maanger or DiskPart) does not seem to have nay rhyme or reason?

I would have expected:

- the hardrive connected to SATA port O, to be assigned as Disk 0
- the hardrive connected to SATA port 1, to be assigned as Disk 1
- the hardrive connected to SATA port 2, to be assigned as Disk 2

but instead, I have:

- the hardrive connected to SATA port 2, is assigned as Disk 0
- the hardrive connected to SATA port 0, is assigned as Disk 1
- the hardrive connected to SATA port 1, is assigned as Disk 2

Just curious why that is.

I am assuming there is no way to chagne this. Its not something I would dream of reinstalling Windows 7 to correct ( even if it did correct it).

If you know how to use VBA you could store the last value in a registry key or ini file and have some code so that when a new file is created from the template it gets the stored number, adds 1, and inserts it to wherever you want.

Hope this helps.

Hey all, I'm trying to read numbers from a sequential data file using Visual Basic 6.0. This is all I got so far, but everytime I run it all the data on the form turns into zeroes... Am I not defining a variable correctly or something? I'm pretty sure the data file is set up correctly with commas and all.
Any help is appreciated!

Dim strName As String, sngHomework As Single, sngProgram1 As Single, sngProgram2 As Single, sngProgram3 As Single, sngMidterm As Single, sngFinal As Single
Open "C:\Grades.dat" For Input As #1
Do While Not EOF(1)
Input #1, strName, sngHomework, sngProgram1, sngProgram2, sngProgram3, sngMidterm, sngFinal
Select Case strName
Case "Anne"
txtHomework.Text = sngHomework
txtProgram1.Text = sngProgram1
lblScore.Caption = Val(sngHomework + sngProgram1)
End Select
Loop
Close #1

I abbreviated the select case just to save space.
So far every text box on the form just has zeroes!
Thanks in advance!

A:VB 6 Reading from a sequential file....

The best thing to do is to step through your code. You can do this by putting a brown dot just to the left of, say, the Select Case, in the border area there. When you run the program, it will stop there.

But before you do, go to View and click on Immediate Window and a box will appear, possibly anchored to the bottom of the screen (if it isn't, this is a good a place as any to anchor it). Now right click up in the top, blank area of your toolbar, and make sure Debug is checked. Here, if you mouse over, you will see a button saying Step Into.

Now, with all this done and the brown dot notating where you want the program to stop, run it. When it stops at your select case line, you can, line by line, walk through the code. As you go line to line, that particular line is not executed until you step past it.

When you get to txtHomework.text = sngHomework, down in the Immediate Window you can query the value of sngHomework by typing ?snghomework and hit enter. If it has a value, it will print it out for you. If the value is null or incorrect, you have identified your problem or isolated where the error might be.

You might want to start by stopping on your Do While and making sure, at the very beginning, that you aren't already at EOF....

Have fun,

MBN

Hi guys!

Suma.

A:Table sequential - Hurry

Normally a table is in any order and it is by the use of indexing that we return results in a sequential order. In MSSQL it is possible to create clustered index which will physically resort the table however this is not an option within access itself. VB using the data access methods available cannot directly affect this either, you really only have one option, that is to create a process which uses select into to create a temporary table that is physically sorted and then delete the records from the original table followed by a copy from your temporary table and then drop this temporary table.

I know this seems like a complicated way around things but that is why indexes were developed.

This is a perfect sequential question. How do you, are there, does the cocoa level, do, does that have anything to do with how many higher flavonoids you have? Not necessarily. It, many or, have the misconception that the higher percent cocoa is an indicator of more falconoid content or flavones content. And that's not the case. Milk, some milk chocolates actually have higher flavanolcontent than some dark Ceuticell Anti Aging Cream chocolates or 60% cocoa. I mean I have friends that that are that swear by 90%, I don't know how they get it down. But they swear by it because they believe it has the highest flavanoid content. Unfortunately it's just not that easy. There are companies that are out there that actually tyro promotes a bit more about how they process the cocoa.

One of the fields is a serial number. I would like the user to be able to enter the serial number (which replicates into a ref field) and then print however many copies they want with each one having the serial number (the same in both places) increased sequentially by one on each print. All other data will remain the same.

The catch is that the starting serial number must be specified by the user rather than being taken from a reference file.

Hi,
I have some reference books I use and in all of them I have this problem:

The number written on the document pages doesn't match the number my pdf reader says, and for every document it has a different offset. That is, for example when I go to page 16, then on the page itself it's written that it's page 5 and not 16.

It's an annoying problem.
Is there any way to fix this by changing the pdf numbering or is there any workaround?

Thanks

Then just enter:
A1=1
A2=blank
A3=2
Then select those three cells (A1, A2, and A3)
Grab the grabpoint at the bottom right of cell A3 and drag downward.

From that I got:

Hi folks,
I have become a subscriber of this forum because most of you that will be reading this will know far more about what I will be asking about so Hello all thanks for listening to my waffle and hear is your starter for ten.

I am trying to make a number in a single cell in a form generated from an Excel work book page, increase by 1 every time that the form is saved and printed, as a serial number.

e.g. when the form is printed it is automatically saved in a register and the number is incremented by 1, the cell is L2 on the attached file.

I am using Excel 2003 and Windows XP Home.

So folks dose that sound feasible?

Simon.

Hello,

I would like to create a formula that searches a cell in column B that contains "***patient subtotal," and then returns a number in column A if that formula is true. However, I would like there to sequential numbers in rows below where the formula is true.

For example
Column A Column B
1 ***patient subtotal
2 ***patient subtotal
3 ***patient subtotal

I used the formula below, but it doesn't work. May you please help me?
=IF((SEARCH("***patient subtotal",B22)),ROW())*1-countif($B$22:B22,0))),"***patient subtotal","")

Hello...I'm an office coordinator that does a lot of "purchasing" for office supplies. I have created a purchase order form that I fill out using a VLOOKUP for products that I order from a specific vendor.

What I'd like to do is: create a new purchase order, have it generate a unique sequential number, ie, ONT200301, ONT200302, etc., complete the form, and print it.

Since I'm fairly new to excel, I need simple instructions on how the sequential purchase number can be created. I've seen some solutions, but they're so "techie" I'm lost!

Thanks for your help!

Hi guys/gals,

I am trying to play my video back to back (sequentially) in iTunes 10, specifically my TV shows. When one finishes, it just goes back to the selection screen. How can I make it just play the next episode?

And please don't tell me to set them as music videos/create a custom playlist. That would defeat the purpose of the several hours I spent tagging each file lol

Cheers for any help,

Hi Everyone,
I am using Word 2007 and Im trying to come up with a solution for the following:
We have documents which we use and we would like to sequentially number each time the document is opened and printed.
For example:
DOC-YY-1
DOC-YY-2
DOC-YY-3
Where DOC is a fixed prefix and YY refers to the year: i.e., 11 and the 1 is a sequential number.
Would it be possible to embed the 1, the sequential number in the document so that each time the document is opened, it increments the number and after it is printed, it saves that number.
For example, lets say the last time it was printed, it had 8, and the next number would be 9. After it is printed, 9 is saved and so on.
Also, it would be nice, if Word 2007 was able to prompt the end-user for the quantity of documents required. So the program can do multiple copies.
Is this something I can do solely in Word 2007 using VBA or would I have to use an external program?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

This can be achieved in VBA and probably wouldn't be too much work either. Have you used VBA at all before?

(I checked the white slide on the tape and used a new tape) I have looked at the security settings for the drive to ensure my account had full control. I have checked the jumper settings on the drive itself. I have tried mounting the drive. No matter what I do I cant get the tape out of read-only. Please any help would go a long way.

Hi. I have two Wi-Fi adapters on my Win10x64 PC - an internal and an external on the roof of my motorhome via USB.

The first is named "Wi-Fi" and the second "Wi-Fi 4", which drives me bananas.

In the registry I found two instances of "Wi-Fi 4" and changed them to "External Wi-Fi". The "classic" control panel displays for Network show this name. BUT, the modern gui still calls it "Wi-Fi 4", and I cannot find where this label is coming from.

Screen cap below shows the disparity.

A:Creating Sequential Number for P.O. in Excel

Here's some code from Frank Kabel:

sub save_me_seq()
dim fname
with activeworkbook.worksheets("sheet1").range("A1")
.value = .value+1
fname = format(.value,"00000") & ".xls"
end with
activeworkbook.saveas fname
end sub

This goes in a standard code module. Press ALT+F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor, select Module from the Insert menu. Paste it in, then press ALT+Q to exit the VBE.

The issue with this requirement is always "when should it run?" ; "at print" may be an option, in which case you would need it to modify the code to print, renumber, save (including reset the form before save, possibly).

Maybe you could attach a sample? (change the extension to txt to attach).

I've got an Access (2003) table containing records of manufacturing process to create a part. The purpose of the table is to create a report that serves as ordered instructions for making a certain part. The records must be sorted by the field "step" which is just a number field.

The problem I'm running into is whenever a new step is added or the order of the steps needs to change, the step numbering is thrown off and must be updated. For example, if someone decides that step 30 really ought to come after step 75, then step 31 becomes 30, 32 becomes 31 . . . and so on (with other variations depending on whether its just switching steps around or adding a new one). How can I update the step numbering when new records are added or existing records are rearranged?

I'm pretty sure Visual Basic will be needed, but if not that would be great . . . since I'm not very familiar with Visual Basic. Anything, even a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

In fact, I have a customer who wants me to either data enter a series of sequential bytes and marry them to an OUI. At that point I'm to send them to a radio service, who'll provide CVC keys. Finally, I'm to supply these keys and addresses to my customer for a combined series. They'll purchase 5-10k at a time. The only problem I have is putting this into a manual keyed entry process and potentially generating duplicates --NOT ALLOWED. That all being said, does anyone have a suggestion?

Hello,

I'm wondering how I can generate a table in MsAccess containing all dates from a entered date to another another one.

for example:
the query would generate a table containing all dates from an employment_date - e.g. 01 01 2001 - to the current date Today()
Employee table would be the table which supplies the employment_date

is it possible to do this in a query?
or would it be faster to just create a table containing all dates from 1/1/1990 to 31/12/2990 and filter it using the two dates above?

thank you

A:Auto create a sequential serial number for a document

It is possible in Excel. I know of no way to do it in Word. The method is simple.
1. Create the template workbook with all the fields you see fit.
2. Copy the code below into the code module of the workbook

Code:
Private Sub Workbook_BeforePrint(Cancel As Boolean)
Dim cdp As DocumentProperty

On Error GoTo NoSuchProperty
Set cdp = ThisWorkbook.CustomDocumentProperties("PrintCounter")
cdp.Value = cdp.Value + 1
ActiveSheet.Range("A1") = cdp.Value
ThisWorkbook.Save
Exit Sub
NoSuchProperty:
ThisWorkbook.CustomDocumentProperties.Add Name:="PrintCounter", LinkToContent:=False, Type:=msoPropertyTypeNumber, Value:=0
Set cdp = ThisWorkbook.CustomDocumentProperties("PrintCounter")
Resume Next
End Sub

The code looks up the custom document property called "PrintCounter". If the property doesn't exist, it will be created.
Before each print attempt, the counter will be increased by one, and the workbook (with the new propery value) will be saved.
The code displays the counter in cell A1, but it can be displayed anywhere, even in header or footer, even as part of a longer string.

Hi!

I have a Word for Mac 2011 doc that will be a template for an invoice. As pictured, I have a field that I would like to serve as the Sales Order field. I'd like the first number to be 000001. What I'd like to have happen is that each time the template is opened, the value in the Sales order field increments by 1, so the next opening would be 000002, then 000003, etc.

I know I need either some VBA code or a Macro, but I'm really unclear how to do this. Also, how do I get the code to apply specifically to the cell where the sales order number is? Unlike Excel, there's no position value to the cell, like A1. Is there a way to apply VBA code or a Macro by selecting the cell somehow?

All help appreciated!

Thanks!

I am currently running Access 2007 on an Acer Aspire computer running Windows 7. I also use a recent HP desktop running Windows XP Professional and Access 2007 at work. I am setting up a database that has 830,031 records & 100 + fields in the main data table. Presently, the table has no unique record ID that could be used as a primary key. I want the table to be sorted in a specific (chronological) order, which I can easily do with a simple query. I have added a new empty field called D_Rec_ID, and I want to fill this field with the record number for each record in the sorted order. Once the database is completed, the number of records will not change. How can I populate this field with sequential record numbers? The only thing I can get to work is to set up an Excel spreadsheet with blocks of 8,000 sequential numbers, copy each block of numbers, and paste it into the Access table in the appropriate location. I can only do 8,000 at a time without exceeding the MaxLocksPerFile on my work computer (set at 9,500), which I cant change. This is an extremely tedious process and prone to mistakes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A:Solved: Sequential numbering of records with record number

DigitalDoc4, welcome to the Forum.

I assume this "database" is only going to be used for Searching?

To do what you want Copy the Table and Paste - Structure Only.
Set your new field to Autonumber.
Now create the the Query and sort it in the order that you want.
Convert the query to an Append query and select the new table as the table to be appended to.
Save and Run the query.
The records should now be entered in the new table in the order that you want with new ID numbers in that order.

I've an XP installation with 4 users accounts setup in Outlook 2003 for each user under their account - i.e. only my ISP account under my XP login; Login in as the wife and only see her ISP account, etc

The problem is that if someone attempts to check their mail after someone else has (either after Switch User or a Logout/Login), then they always get a 'unable to connect to POP3 server'.

A reboot of the PC sorts, but a reboot of the modem doesn't (nor does an ipconfig /renew).

Any ideas - this is a real pain!

I had a perfect-running CyberpowerPC-built PC, with a Gigabyte Z77 mobo, one 1TB HDD and 1 60GB SSD using Intel Smart Response to cache, plus an MSI GTX 570. It was fast and perfect.

After 2 years, my PC suddenly began displaying intermittent graphics glitches while gaming. I checked my Nvidia drivers and found that they were 2 versions out of date, despite having Windows Update set on automatic. I d/l the latest driver package, but got an unrecoverable crash in mid-install: the machine refused to boot, and neither the W7 OEM disc nor the Recovery Disk that I had made could repair it.

Checking CMOS, I discovered that the BIOS was not detecting my GTX 570 OR my SSD! I removed the GTX 570 since it had apparently failed and tried to boot using on-board graphics, but that also failed. I now began to suspect the motherboard, since memory tests ruled out any problem with my RAM DIMMs. After fruitless and pointless online discussions with CyberpowerPC and Gigabyte, I gave up and ordered a new HDD, this time opting for a giant 2TB drive. After installing it and installing Windows on it, I was able to finally boot the machine. Assume I have two computers A and B which are connected (through WLAN/Wifi router) in an inhouse net.

Now I have to transfer huge file archives (> 10 GB) from A to B and other huge file archives from B to A.

I could either do this file transfers
1) in parallel (=start copying files from A to B and from B to A at the same time)
or
2) wait until file copying from A to B is finished and then start B to A.

What is faster?

I could imagine that protocol overhead and interrupts in case 1 could slow down throughput.
On the other hand I could use in case 1 unused upload capacity into the opposite direction during download.

Any recommendations for this scenario?

Safer is point 2.
It may use some RAM or pagefile to store the buffer.

I'm the General Manager for a UPS Store and am wanting to send out several hundred post cards to a local post office that is closing down in order to try and get their PO Box customers business. I, however, do not want to type the same thing over and over for 3 hours. Basically the format will look like this:

Current Resident
PO Box 7000
Dallas TX, 75248

Current Resident
PO Box 7001
Dallas TX, 75248

Current Resident
PO Box 7xxx and so on

I know there has got to be a way to do this in Excel and then do a Mail Merge into Publisher. I can do the mail merge with no problem, I just need to figure out how to list those PO Boxes in a sequential order. Thanks for all the help!

Hello. I have a question to ask you.

Is there a means or a way to set the method of naming a file or folder in a sequential manner (an suffix extension to the filename like ?1?, ?2?, ?3?, etc.; or ?A?, ?B?, ?C?, etc. .; or a user's own defined orderly sequence) when a user has copied or moved of a file or folder to a folder where the same file or folder name already resides or exists?

I am also hoping for the means for the user to ACTIVELY SET OR SELECT (?customize?) the sequential manner of an extension to the file name and then ?set it and forget it? so NO query is raised (in the form of some GUI [Graphic User Interface] window to appear) during the process of moving or copying the file or folder to a folder where the same file or folder name already resides?

I am not sure if there is some third party program, application, or software to install that performs like what I am asking above; or if there is some system registry or system directory modification or change that allows for this (I would think that it has connections with Windows Explorer is some manner.)?

Please provide your own detailed written steps, facts, suggestions, hints, and tips; and/or the best possible well written, detailed and documented website links.

NOTE: For your information, I am using Windows 7 64-bit operating system which would be implicated with this issue.

Please reply.

Thank you!

A:I Am Looking For A Means TO Set The Method Of Naming A File/Folder In A Sequential Manner...? Please read...

***Let me add an important point. I see it is potentially possible as a reader who has read my above initial question may have misconstrued my methodological instruction which after re-reading my initial post, I understand your perspective and I was not clear enough. Sorry about that! You may be thinking of a ?mass renaming? of files and folders where I would have a 'GROUP of files and/or folders ALREADY' to rename. NO! Sorry! What I am asking is when I add (key words) *one-by-one* either a file or folder to a folder that has a file or a folder of the same file or folder name inside, it would assign a new file or folder name extension in sequence?

Please reply.

Thank you!

I want to upgrade my laptop RAM from 4 GB to 6 GB. Before buying the 4 GB RAM I have to know the exact pin of the RAM, and I don't know the exact numbers of pin in the RAM. My laptop is Ideapad Y550 4186. So how can I know the numbers of pins in the RAM without having to open the case? Please help!

A:How to know numbers of pin in RAM?

It's 204 pin, but you need to know more than that.

That's a Lenovoe Ideapad Y550. I entered that make and model into the configurator at Crucial.com and it came back with the following compatible RAM choices for that laptop.

Computer memory upgrades for Lenovo IdeaPad Y550 (All Types) Laptop/Notebook from Crucial.com

3 of those choices are for 2 GB sticks.

You can shop for those same Crucial part numbers from your source or buy 204 pin RAM from another brand as long as it has the exact same specifications.

This is basically for my father, his numbers on the key pad to the right of the key board are not working. In the past I have checked several options and ended just hitting some keys (i.e. alt F4) until one of them seems to work. Now he is having problems again. Is there something else he can do?

Thanks

I hear that soon we will all have a personnal ip number. IP version 4 or something similar? Is this a good thing?

A:IP Numbers

Where did you hear that?
There are too many people for individual IPv4 numbers. IPv6 could do. But I still doubt that.

My system is an IBM P4 3.2GHz running Windows XP Pro SP3. When I power the system on, there are some Hex numbers that appear at the lower right of the monitor screen such as 003B, 0075, 0078, 0073 and probably several others that I can't see because they come and go rather quickly. Does anyone know what these numbers mean and is there a problem with my system because these numbers appear?? My system appears to boot & run correctly and there are no hardware or software problems that I'm aware of.

Thanks for any help here.

David

A:What do these numbers mean??

Do they appear and change when you move your mouse? When you press a key on the keyboard? It looks like it could be some type of debugging information but nothing harmful.

Is there a program that I can run that will show me all my OEM numbers. I have a HP laptop that I installed a restore cd from a DELL cd and now it's asking me for this number (42 charactors) that I am sure I have on my desktop pc, but not sure how to extract that. I am thinking looking through my registry would not be an easy thing to do.

A:Solved: OEM Numbers

Hi and welcome!

Well, the answer to your question is YES, but what you are doing is illegal, so I won’t be able to help you. Besides that, if you enter the number and it does take it, you’ll have to ACTIVATE it and that should fail because the machine is already activated on the Dell system.

I figured I would at least fill you in on this before it sits unanswered for a longer period of time until the Admins get to it and close it.

Thanks and sorry…

This is not a problem. Just a curiosity that I am unable to explain. Maybe someone has the answer.

1. When I look into Computer or computer management, the size of my system is about 16.3 GBs. The data is on another partition and there are no restore points - shadowstorage is zero.

2. If, however, I run WinDirStat, it shows my system size as 18.1 GBs. I fail to see from where the additional 1.8 GBs come from.
