ACT 2000 compatibility with 2010 stuff

Q: ACT 2000 compatibility with 2010 stuff

I have been an ACT user since it was developed by Symantec!

Last upgrade was to ACT 2000, and have not felt any need to upgrade (with the ridiculous price tag!). I operate a microbusiness, and the old version almost does everything I need it to do.

Here is one "wish for". I use Thunderbird as my e-mail client, and I have to go through cut & paste or rewrite e-mails to recipients. ACT will launch the two versions of Outlook and a "cc Mail" or "internet mail" option.

Can I configure ACT 2000 to launch a Thunderbird e-mail compose message?

If so, how?

Hello, I just want to say thanks in advance for any and all help which I recieve here. People who donate their time like this should truly be appreciated!I have been looking for a job and one of my tools has been the internet. Just two days ago I went to log onto Select Staffing dot com and once I did BOOM BAM POW BANG I was instantly infected with tons of stuff, including Internet Security 2010. I instantly used my yahoo anti spyware scan and managed to clean out a lot of crap. But there was still bugs. I rebooted. Scanned again, cleared out another trojan and then i did a system restore back one day. It really calmed my os down. I thought I was out of the woods, but it soon became apparent that I wasnt. Throughout the process I kept getting pop ups saying Warning! Your computer is infected click here to resolve. Or Danger your computer has been taken over by outside control and further delay could corrupt your operating system, files, etc. Not in the same wording but you get the picture. It was trying to get me to click this or click that and i refused.Anyway, I also ran Roguekill, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, Microsoft? Windows? Malicious Software Removal and Microsoft Security Essentials. Each of these tools cleared out more infections and bugs. But I know there are still more invaders active. One propblem im having is whenever I do a google search, and then click on one of the result links, I get redirected to sites like Leapfish, smartbizsearch, uplift search,... Read more

Hi Guys,

I have a memo field in my Access 2010 database, the contents of which populate a bookmark in a word document using a Word Automation module in my database. However, when the text is inserted into the word document it has either html tags for lists or xml tags depending upon the text format of the memo field

If the field is formatted as plain text <div> and </div> surrounds each line
If the field is formatted as rich text the html tags for bulleted lists appear i.e. <ul> & <li>

Is there any way in Word to find and replace either of these tags with actual bullets. I've looked in the Special and Format button on the Replace dialog box but am stumped.
Thanks
Karen

When I click File\New in Word 2010 the templates page appears full of dozens of folders for office.com junk; with my own one and only templates folder hiding there, surrounded by these big menacing folders and shivering in fear.
Is there any way that I can remove all this rubbish and just see what I want to see?

This is what I mean...

A:Removing Word 2010 templates and stuff

I'd imagine that you can choose a modify option, if you put the original install disc back in. Most of the time it will give you the options to install, modify or remove if you run an installer for a program that you already have installed. And if you choose modify you should be able to remove features and strip it down as so desired. Sort of like doing a custom install in the first place.

I'm currently helping a non-profit organization by creating an Access database to bring together several years of data captured on Excel worksheets. They do not currently have Access on their computers. While I've used Access for 20 years or so, it has always been (I think?) part of M$ Office. So I have some questions about what version of Access they should buy.

· Is there a difference in the ability to export to and/or import from Excel worksheets between a standalone Access and Access that's an integral part of M$ Office Pro? I suspect not, but need to make sure.

· The computer upon which we intend to install Access currently has M$ Office Home & Student 2007 (has Word, Excel, PowerPoint). We were considering buying the latest version of Access (2010, 32-bit), but in the specs, M$ says, "Importing data requires Excel 2010 or Outlook 2010". Knowing that M$ has a penchant for pushing upgrades, is that actually true, or will Access 2010 import Excel 2007 worksheets? Will it import Excel 2000/2003 worksheets?

· I am still using Office 2000, partly because I run a business with it and most of my clients have Office 2000, or 2003, which are upward and downward compatible. The database I've designed for this organization is, therefore, in Access 2000 format. Can Access 2010 open and use databases designed in 2000 format (assume so)? Does it have to convert them to do so, and is the converted database then incompatible with my Access 2000 (I... Read more

I have a program that will run on all flavors of windows however a protocol that attaches to the nic will only run in 2000. Is there a way I could install or run this protocol in compatibility mode? The protocol is LAT and is for a terminal emulator that connects to an old mainframe. Ideally if I had a copy of Pathworks32 v7.4 I could run it on XP. The question is however can I install and run the LAT on compatiblity mode and have it work?

A:compatibility w/ 2000 pro

Doing a little DEC stuff huh? I haven't anyone talk about LAT in years. I didn't think it was still around. Wow...

Anyway. LAT is a protocol and I very much doubt you could run it the way you want. You may want to look at running Pathworks under Virtual PC mode since you have W7 Ultimate.

Hi all,

I have a compatibility problem between Microsoft Access 2010 and Access 2007. The problem is that a few months ago I needed to take an access file home from my school which runs Access 2007, but I did not have access on my home PC so I downloaded a trail version of Access 2010. I then made some changes to the database file on my home pc e.g. add buttons, create menus etc to the best of my knowledge I only added features that I would use in school on access 2007.

When saving I just press the save button because it said at the top clearly "filename: database (Access 2007)" (See attached photo) this leads me to believe that it should have not problem is working at school on access 2007. unfortunately this was not the case now every time I attempt to open the saved file in school it says that the file is not recognised and is unable to open . I have tried to use the Microsoft how-to to attempt to correct this problem here but this has not worked. This is a very annoying and inconvenient problem any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I am using Windows 7 and just installed MS 2010 Suite. When I open Word, a 'new' blank document comes up but it's in Compatibility Mode until I save a document. This does not happen with several of my coworkers. Is there a setting that can be turned off when opening a new blank Word document that will turn that mode off? I checked Options/Save and it is saving by default to .docx. Advances settings show Compatibility Options for "document 1": layout this document as if created in Microsoft Word 2010. All the settings match the others who are not coming up in Compatibilty Mode.

We are using an audit software that does not work well in that mode if one document is open in Compatibility Mode and another is not. Our IT department hasn't been able to figure out why some of us have this default and others do not. I suspect it was varying IT professionals configuring the PC's differently, as is our usual cause for differences in start-up settings. Any ideas how to change that default setting? Lynn

Yeah, I'm running Office 2000 (Pro) .

Two questions:

a) Will it work in XP Compatibility mode?
b) If not, will it work with Windows XP Mode?

Thanks,
Wasila

A:2000 Backwards Compatibility

Not sure who is having a problem with MS Office 2000 in Win 7, albeit I have been using it with my laptop which is running on Win 7 32 bit.

A) yes
B) yes

After reading your post I loaded up Office 2000 into XP mode and it worked just fine. Also, loaded up in VMware's Workstation running XP and it worked without any problems.

Hope this helps, and BTW "Welcome to the Seven Forums."

Now if you can still download MS Office 2010 beta I would recommend that you do, and test it out, it is an excellent upgrade to 2007, 2003, and 2000. There is a compatibility mode so you can convert either forward or backwards.

Does anyone know of a way to force Word 2010 to save all files as .doc files not .docx for any user that ever logs in to a pc?

I know it's simple to save this setting for a given user but I need to do it for everyone that ever sits at a given pc....

Thanks

A:Force Word 2010 backwards compatibility to 2003 for all users

I would create a file doc.reg and save it in C:\whatEverLocation\

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Options]
"DefaultFormat"="DOC"
Than I would start a Task Schedule (taskschd.msc) and "Create Task"
(NOT Basic task!!!).

Check "Run with highest privileges" on General tab.
Triggers tab: At log on - Any user.
Actions tab: Start a program.
. Program/script: %windir%\System32\regedt32.exe
. Add arguments (optional): /s "C:\whatEverLocation\doc.reg"

Reg file gives us desired setting in a file form that can be easily imported for any current user.
12.0 is for Office 2007
14.0 is for Office 2010
15.0 is for Office 2013

Task schedule allows us to create a task that will run for any user of the current Windows system with administrative privileges (when corresponding options are selected).
regedt32 will import desired setting for the current user silently (/s).

User can still change this option manually later on, but the next time this user log in, the same setting from the file will be imported and user's custom setting will be overridden.

I took an NVidia Quadro 2000 2GB video card from an older XPS 8700 that I had installed it in and had been running fine, plug and play, and removed the GeoForce 730 from my new XPS 8900 and installed the Quadro 2000 in the new 8900, expecting no problems.
The Quadro has DVI out and two (2) Displayport out. I tried the DVI, no luck. The tried the Displayport, still no luck. Monitor is asleep, does not respond.
I know this card is a little older, but I am not sure why it would not be supported on the 8900, when I just plug and played it on the 8700, no problem?????

Alrighty! Here goes!

I've been searching online for five hours looking for fixes for this. I recently replaced the Windows 8 on this Notebook with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Edition because, simply put, I bloody hate Windows 8.

This has become problematic for me because it appears that there are no compatible drivers that pair Windows 7 and this device's hardware.

I posted in Yahoo Answers about an hour and ten minutes ago and I'm incredibly frustrated with the results (go figure). A link to that question, in case I forget any information I mentioned there: Downgrading to Windows 7 with HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook? - Yahoo! Answers

The product information page for the HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook is located here: HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook PC Product Specifications HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook PC | HP? Support

I have several drivers that are "Out of date." The main one that I'm worried about is the Graphics/Display driver. On the HP website, the device is listed as: Intel HD graphics 3000 with up to 1696MB total graphics memory.

I've tried installing the Windows 8 drivers (which do nothing) and I have also tried updating my drivers through Windows Update. I've also visited HP's driver site, Intel's, and even NVidia, I believe, all to no avail.

I'm hoping that an informed someone can tell me whether or not there are drivers for my graphics chip, and if there are, where I can find them and how I can install them in working order.

Thank you so much for any help! ... Read more

I'm one of the elderly members of this community who hates to change platforms without good reason.

Office 2000 is familiar and does most of what I want to do. I'm finding that running it in compatibility mode under Windows 7 Professional x64 is problematic. Most of my problems appear to come from Word documents containing images, often copied and pasted from the web directly. Word stops responding. It can only be restored by a hard reboot which is a PITA. It seems that if both Excel and Word are open, both are reported by Task Manager as 'not responding,' and that is the end of the session. If anything, the problem seems to have gotten worse recently. Could it be an enhancement to the operating system that is just, by chance, causing this problem?

Does anyone have any fixes?

Thanks,

My laptop came preinstalled with the 2007 compatibility pack. I installed Office 2010 the day I bought the laptop. Have been running for many months and never noticed this: the default application to open docx files in the Microsoft Open XML Converter. The default for doc files is Microsoft Word. The only version of Word I have on my computer is 2010. If I remember correctly, the laptop came with a 2007 trial version but I deleted that - I still have a link to "reinstall MS Office trial." Whenever I click on a docx file, it opens in Word. I'm running Win 7 64-bit Home Premium but the 32-bit version of Office 2010.

Here's the strange part: if I set Word as the default application for opening docx files, I lose the Word icon and get what I believe is the Wordpad icon (the standard sheet of paper with corner turned over and lines on it) as my icon for docx files. The registry tells me that the defaulticon for docx files is Wordpad.exe. The icon for doc files is still the Word icon. Same thing happens if I uninstall the compatibility pack, which of course I don't even need, and then I also lose my Excel icon and am "iconless" for Excel files. If I try to set the default icon in the registry to the Word icon, I get a tiny Word icon in lieu of the normal Word icon.

I discovered all this by following this advice for being able to open Word docs stored on Microsoft's Skydrive:

(She greatly prefers Works over Office, for its simplicity and because of her long-term familiarity with Works.) The official "word" from Microsoft (pun intended) is that Office & Works can co-exist on the same PC.

Provided you do not intend to share documents between Office & Works (ie both suites will be used separately), there are no "workarounds" or special procedures you need to remember when using them.

The new database is in Access 2002-2003 format (according to Access) at this point, but I am working on it in Access 2010 (every copy we had of Access 2003 running older machines was destroyed in Tropical Storm Irene). I note at this point that I didn't write this code or create this database. It was built a long time ago by one employee who retired and doesn't remember much about the database, and another who retired and had added on it I can't even get to answer my emails right now. This database was originally written in Access '97, then converted to an Access 2000 database and it hasn't been touched with conversions since then. So, to the actual problem:

When I try to open up the first, most important form in the database, I get this error:
Compile Error: User-defined type not defined.

And it's highlighting a line of code that reads:
Dim Cmd As ADODB.Command

I tried doing some searching for this error and added a reference to ActiveX Data Objects 6.0 library based on some of what I read. That didn't help. I'm not entirely sure what this sub is trying to accomplish, and so it's hard for me to figure out if these ADODB commands even make any sense to be doing when everything is self-contained (this databas... Like you know how people take videos of games they play and feed it into their PC so it is on there? What do I need... and what kind of stuff is possible? Could I transfer a tape from a VCR? A DVD? Or just games? Give me all the information you can because I know nothing about any of this.

How expensive would this be? I hope not too much... If it is something that is selling software with it, but thats what makes it expensive, tell me the way to get it without the software so it is cheaper. I have plenty of video editing programs and stuff, I just need to get the stuff there.

Can Office 97 doc's. (Word, Excel, Acces, Powerpoint, etc.) read Office 2000 documents?

Can Outlook 2000 operate ok with Office 97 installed or does Outlook 2000 need Office 2000?

Can Outlook 97 read Outlook 2000 created mail?

Thanks.

A:Office 2000/Office 97 compatibility

Can Office 97 doc's. (Word, Excel, Acces, Powerpoint, etc.) read Office 2000 documents?

Word, Excel, and Powerpoint 2000 files can be read by Office 97 applications as long as you did not use any features not available in Office 97, such as table within a table in Word.

The other two I'm not sure about, but I'd suppose they will. I'm not sure why you would want to set it up that way. Perhaps if you tell us why, we can give you better answers.

At work, I run 4 different versions of Microsoft Office, and 3 different versions of Outlook. Do I use all the Outlooks to send/receive mail, no. Things like Send To commands may get very confused or not work at all, depending on your setup. And clicking on an email link can cause havoc if it doesn't know which program to use.

The closed thread "Act!200/Vista Compatility" starting Dec 9, 2009 at 11:55 am needs the following addendum:

ACT! 2000 successfully installed on 64-bit Vista.

64-bit Vista Home Premium
Service Pack 2

- ACT! 2000 CD
don't use setup.exe in root of CD; instead use the setup.exe located in yourCDdriveLetter:\Act2000\setup.exe

RIGHT-Click the Setup.exe and "Run as Administrator"

I just did it and it worked and am using ACT! 2000 now.

The previous posts were incorrect about 64-bit Vista, though perhaps SP2 helped.

Again, this isn't speculation. I just did it.

A:ACT!2000 on Vista: Addendum to closed post: "Act!200/Vista Compatibility" of 12/9/08

ACT! 2000 actually has issues even on XP prior to 5.03 (can't properly reindex or correctly detect disk space)... it also won't connect to Office 2003 or 2007.

You should look at an upgrade to ACT! 2009, which properly supports Vista x64 (it's what I run)

Hello,

I recently had issues with my PSU and rather than play guesswork on whether its still functional, I rather just replace it.

My motherboard is a m3n78-pro. Its a bit dated but I'd like for this pc to last another 6 months before I build an entirely new rig. If I read the manual correctly, it requires ATX 12V V2.0.

The PSU I'd like to change to (since it just has to last another 6 months) this 900 w PSU. Would the m3n78-pro be compatible with this PSU? One concern I had was that the m3n78-pro requires a 4 pin ATX +12v connector. If I read the PSU's specifications correctly it has one 12V 8-pin (4 + 4) CPU power connector. Is that 8-pin two separate power connector, ie do I just use 1 of the connectors to fit into the 4 pin ATX +12v connector?

Please excuse my noobishness but what exactly does the v2.92 Motherboard specification entail? I tried to google it, but got less useful information and product results from newegg.

Also I read the wiki on the ATX 12V V2.X standard, but it didn't answer my question - is ATX12V v2.3 backwards compatible with the ATX12V v2.0 standard?
Thank you very much for any help you can give.

Will someone please explain to me briefly what the difference is between all of these? Why would one want one over the other?

I guess that Windows 2000 is sort of like NT Workstation. If not, please tell me.

And what is the difference between Windows 2000 Server and 2000 Advanced Server?

A:{Advice Offered} - Windows 2000 Professional, 2000 Server, 2000 Anvanced Server--the difference?

Greetings

Win2K Professional is, indeed, just NT Workstation 5.0

The real difference between Win2K Server and Win2K Advanced Server is scalability. To quote a CNET article: "Three versions of the operating system will be available next week (it's an old article): Windows 2000 Professional, aimed at PCs and workstations; Windows 2000 Server, for file-and-print servers; and Windows 2000 Advanced Server, supporting clustering, which is a way of making several systems act as a single, more powerful computer.

To quote the FAQ from www.winmag.com:
Windows 2000 Professional is the workstation edition of Windows 2000. This is basically Windows NT Workstation 5.0, although Win2K Professional of course includes all of the new technologies for Win2K.

Windows 2000 Server/Advanced Server is the server edition of Windows 2000, which is designed to serve small- to mid-sized businesses and workgroups. Server supports up to 4GB of physical RAM and up to 4 processors per computer. Advanced Server supports up to 8GB of RAM and 8 processors per computer.

Windows 2000 Datacenter Server is designed for large businesses and computer clusters. Datacenter supports up to 32 processors per computer and up to 64GB of RAM, as well as built-in clustering and load-balancing features.

Is that what you wanted?

Cheers

Hello,

I have a new issue that has come up since we converted an Access database to 2007 file format.
Here is the history.

We have an access database that was created in the old file format. In that database there is a button that opens up word and a mail merge file. Word's mail merge then uses a query from the access database to populate the mail merge document.

We recently converted the Access database to the Office 2007 file format and now the merge process will not work.
I have tried to relink the files and have done some research and it appears that the DDE way of connecting is no longer used in Office 2007. I did finally get to the point where I could see the queries i needed but once I try to open that data source Word give me a general error that it can not open the data source.

How can I get these merge files working again?

PS. We are running Windows XP if that is needed.

We are quickly moving to office 2010 also but that uses the same file format as 2007 so I assume it won't be an issue. Any help you can give me would be GREAT!.

Hi, I have set up a new Access 2010 database (saved as .accdb) (copying tables, forms and queries from my current one then deleting the old data and modifying a lot of fields). I have a query in with some simple calculations. All the calculations work perfectly in Access. When I merge this into Word 2010 (set up as a letter document) it doesn?t use/show the correct data.

The calculated fields in the query are ?number of people * price tea & coffee = cost tea & coffee? and ?number of people * price buffet = cost buffet". I then use these costs in the same query to work out ?VAT? (another calculated field adding up the calculated "cost tea & coffee" and calculated "cost buffet" as well as a number of other non-calculated fields and multiplying the total by 0.2) and ?Total Cost? (a calculated field adding up various non-calculated fields, the calculated "cost tea & coffee", calculated "cost buffet" and the calculated VAT field).

There are two errors in the data that ends up in the merged Word document:
The "VAT" doesn?t add in the two calculated fields, it only uses the data from non-calculated fields in the query.
Also the "Total Cost" doesn?t add in any of the calculated fields (teas & coffees, buffet and VAT), it only uses non-calculated fields from the query.

It doesn?t ping up any error messages. Why is it changing the data between Access (where the query works per... Read more

Good morning everyone,

So the other day something incredibly weird had occurred. I was receiving email normally on my phone, came into work, logged in, and began working on my trouble tickets. I noted that when I went back to Outlook to view an email, the email in particular was gone... and then all were gone. My folders, and emails within them, still remained the same. I attempted to research what on Earth happened but I haven't been able to find anything specific to my issue.

I'm using Outlook 2010 connected to an Exchange 2010 server for work. Outlook was setup as cached exchange mode but that has since been changed. The emails also disappeared from my phone's inbox too... it's as if everything was deleted and Exchange figured that's what it should be and synced everything that way. Deleting my OST didn't resolve or resync anything. I ran the scanpst tool on the ost file which reports 93 errors, but as I read the scanpst tool can't repair an OST and thus doesn't do anything.

Does Outlook have some sort of log that may explain what on Earth happened? I can't find any error messages or any other reasons for what may have happened. My view settings weren't changed, nothing has changed on my end. There is no spyware / malware installed on the PC as far as I can tell. No real issues in the Sync issues folder other than a Forms syncing issue which seems to be related to Exchange needing a patch (but can otherwise be ignored).

I will give you... Read more

A:Outlook 2010 / Exchange 2010 randomly deleted inbox email?

Are you the only person using that Exchange server who has this issue? Check with the IT department to see if they can recover the emails in your mailbox from the server. It's possible they recently did some maintenance on the mail server that caused this issue. That fact that both Outlook and your phone are having this issue points to this being an Exchange server problem, as Outlook uses autodiscover and MAPI while your phone uses ActiveSync to connect to the server.

Do you have access to your email using Outlook Web Access? If so, log in and see if the emails are there. If not, it's definitely a server issue.

If your mail is still on the server, one thing you could try is re-enabling the cached Exchange mode, saving the change, and then restarting Outlook. The last thing to try is to delete the email account profile and recreate it. Make sure to get the proper settings from IT if you don't already have them -- although since you are using Exchange and autodiscover, that's usually just a case of entering your username and password when you recreate it.

In Sharepoint i cannot able to use Access 2007 forms so i need to create another good looking way of showing the access lists.
Can you please anyone help me how i can implement this and if we can what are the requirements need to be done, like tools required and steps for the implementation.
If anyone can suggest some books also i can able to read it and learn it myself.
All the response are welcome and thanks for all your support.

A:Integration of Access 2007 , Sharepoint 2010 and Info Path 2010

I see no one is offering anything on this post. Not a great site for SharePoint(SP) information. But SP its self is relatively new for developers. We can't afford real SP developers so se make our own. Not a great plan but we are supporting a large SP site.

I think with Access 2007 the best approach is to use it to update list and make reports from list. There is no integration to InfoPath forms that I know of. You have to build them on top of your list with SP Designer.

I did find this video in my favorites that says publish access 2007 to SP2010. I haven't whatch recently...
YouTube
If you really need Access (in SP) you have to go to 2010. I waited till Access and SP 2010 were available on a test site and build a relatively simple db with a couple of reports and queries that did funcion correctly (without too much alteration). I did have to key each table before it would 'publish'. The 'publish' wizard will walk you thru needed fixes. I looked for the DB to refresh my memory but someone has rebuilt the test site and dropped it.

Any way good luck. I wish I had some recent experience on the issue to offer. Maybe this will 'bump' your thread and get some more information!

I'm running Windows 7 Professional and just upgraded IE from 9 to 11. Afterwards, I observed that Outlook 2010 was not downloading pictures (instead showing red x's) and Excel 2010 embedded internet queries stopped working.
I think I've cornered the problem, but can't seem to fix. I have also observed that IE's temporary internet files (TIF) folder may be missing (Internet Options>Browsing History>Settings>Temporary Internet Files shows nothing under Current Location)
and the allotted disk space is set to zero and cannot be changed. If I input another number (no matter the number), I receive the following error message:
"Please select a value between 8 and 8 for how much disk space Temporary Internet Files may use."
I have tried renaming the following RegEdit keys, but to no avail: Cache and LowCache (both under HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Internet Settings>5.0). They get replaced when IE11 is re-opened.
The actual values within the registry keys are as follows:
Cache>Content>CacheLimit = 8192 (Decimal)
LowCache>Content>CacheLimit = 256000 (Decimal)
This is driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can this be done?

A week ago, I bought a new CD of MS Office Home and Student 2010. Before I did that, I asked my wife, who has occasionally used Access 2003, "do you still need a database program?". I SWEAR she said "no I don't use it any more". The FIRST time she sat down to use MS Office 2010 she asked me "where's the database program?" aarrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh....

So is it possible for me to buy a way to upgrade the version I have now, or must I buy a completely new stand alone CD for just Access 2010?

I think the only way is to buy the stand alone package.

I've been trying to create a Task in Outlook from a Word Document that I have created on this computer. The idea is that a shortcut to the document is created as an Outlook Task. Click on the shortcut, and voila - there is the document.

The "Create Microsoft Office Task" icon DOES send the document to Outlook as a Shortcut in a Task, however, when I open the task, Outlook says:"Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments: Shortcut to 'document name'."

It's NOT an unsafe attachment; Outlook WILL OPEN this document if I send it as an email attachment. Outlook will open .docx files types.

This is a one person computer...no network, no sharing. And this problem has been driving me crazy. This would be a wonderful feature, if I can get it to work.

Anyone have any ideas what I (or Outlook) are doing wrong?

Thanks for your help
Barb

A:Creating a Task in Outlook 2010 from a Word 2010 Document

I think this will do the job for you:
Add & Create Outlook 2010 Tasks From Word 2010

.

Quote:
You can create a task from Word 2010 document and save it under Outlook 2010 tasks. This feature is by default concealed but you can make it apparent on Quick Access toolbar and use it directly.

In order to use this feature, you need to make this feature apparent on Word 2010 Quick Access Toolbar, head over to Quick Access Toolbar and from small drop down button click More Commands.

You will reach Word Options dialog. Hit drop-down button present beneath the Choose commands and select All Commands. Now scroll-down the list and find Create Microsoft Outlook Task command. Select it and click Add (>>) to show it on Quick Access toolbar pane. Once added, hit OK.

First save the document and then select any portion of the text in the document from which you want to create the task, from Quick Access toolbar, click Outlook task button.

Upon click, it will create Outlook task for the Word document and you will reach Outlook Task dialog where you can set Start and Due date for the task and add more information about it. Save & close the task to view it under Outlook tasks.

When opening task in Outlook 2010, you can also view the document from which it was created from, just double-click the document to open it.

Win 7 SP1 64-bit
Word 2010
Access 2010

We have some fill-in form templates that we have moved from Word 2003 to Word 2010 (properly) and in the underlying form macro, there is a call to a database to pull office address information that originally was in Access 2003. The macro works just fine if it opens the 2003 version, but I want to update the database to 2010 so that I don't have to worry about compatibility issues. So, after creating a new 2010 database, I went into the Word macro and changed the name of the database in the macro to reflect the new 2010 database, and nada. The statement that accesses the database does not seem to work. Here is the text:

Dim conn As New ADODB.Connection
conn.Provider = "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0"
conn.Open Environ("ALLUSERSPROFILE") & "\Application Data\sgData01.accdb"

Dim rs As New ADODB.Recordset
rs.Open "select * from offices where shortName = '" & sCity & "';", conn

I am NOT a programmer so if there is further information you need, please let me know. I assume, though, that perhaps 2010 uses something other than Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 or something like that...

Any and all assistance will be HUGELY appreciated!!

i am mail merging (word 2010 and excel 2010 database).

when i choose to send the messages as HTML, all is good.

when i choose to send text or attachment - i get this security warning. even after pressing "allow" - nothing happens. (nothing = no trace of messages in outbox and no mail sent)

i know that: "If you choose a format other than HTML, an Outlook message may inform you that a program is trying to access e-mail addresses and send e-mail. This message is a security measure designed to protect against viruses that replicate through e-mail. To continue with the merge, select the Allow access for check box in the security warning dialog box, and then select the amount of time that you need to complete the merge. Click Yes. If you are prompted again, continue to click Yes until the merge is complete."

thank you very much!!!!

I had a problem with Outlook emails hanging up in the outbox and then sending as many as 14 copies of the same message. I was unable to fix this Using the "Repair" function of the upgrade installation disk (created from the downloaded file). I removed Office completely and tried to reload; however, my disk got corrupted and Outlook is no longer available. Is there a way to recover Outlook without having to purchase it separately? I am using Office Professional Plus 2010 Home Use Program. The email that came with the original download from Digital River states to go to the "Account Management Console" to reload; however, this is on a hard copy and the original email with the link is no longer available. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

A:Solved: Outlook 2010 missing from Office Professional Plus 2010

If you downloaded this from Digital River, then you may be able to download it again, contact them and ask.

If you can download the install file again and it works, burn yourself a CD of the downloaded install file.

Also write the keycode on the CD.

Hello,

My trouble started with a window called Home Antivirus 2010... (is this the same thing as PC Antispyware 2010 that is now sitting in the tray?).

I believe I have followed the instructions and successfully ran Avenger, and Malwarebytes to remove PC Antispyware 2010. Then I realized braviax was out there running and I ran SDFix in safemode followed by another scan and remove with Malewarebytes. It finds and remove the files (56), but doesn't seem to solve the problem. I've now run HJT and have the following log file:

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have the Windows Recovery Console pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.
Go to Microsoft's website => http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310994

Select the download that's appropriate for your Operating System

Download the file & save it as it's originally named.
Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools.

Please note once you start ComboFix you should not click anywhere on the ComboFix window as it can cause the program to stall.

Drag the setup package onto ComboFix.exe and drop it.

Follow the prompts to start ComboFix and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Recovery Console.

Hi all
Having totally WIPED office 2010 from my system and re-installed again the problem I had with the "Purge" folder not appearing now is SOLVED.

However you still don't get a line through the deleted items -- but they are in Trash folder now.

This is BETTER but still NOT WHAT IS NEEDED -- as another computer with Outlook 2007 doesn't get the "Non purged" items in the inbox which it should do.

IMAP should effectively leave items in the Inbox until purged -- otherwise I might as well go back to POP3 - more fiddly to manage whern you leave stuff on the server but it works.

What I'm resigned to doing now is to use the REST of the office 2010 suite (EXCEL etc) which is really good but stick with Outlook 2007 for email.

Cheers
jimbo

A:Outlook 2010 Saga with IMAP, Can I use Office 2010 and

I do like the way 2010 deletes the emails without purge, but I have found that rules randomly fail and some mail goes awol for a while when switching between folders (it reappears after a while)

IMO outlook 2003 is still the best (I hated 2007) but I will reserve full judgement until 2010 is out of beta.

I am ready to pull out my hair (and Ive already lost too much of it already). This virus/malaware is making my life miserable. I did a google search and saw many other people were also having the same problem which lead me to your website. Thank you for taking the time to assist me.I am using Windows XP and two days ago noticed the computer going VERY SLOWLY. So I rebooted thinking that would solve the problem and immediately got the aforementioned tell-tale warnings: Tracking software found! XP Internet Security 2010 Firewall Alert!Immediately I freaked out. I am using a laptop I was loaned by my friend as I am recovering from an accident and recently had surgery and am currently immobile. After some inspection I noticed he did not have his Firewall up, nor did he have anti-virus software running/installed or spyware software installed. My first thought was to pay the fee for what I have since discovered is bogus antivirus software. Since I am currently on disabilty this was not something I wanted to do, but after doing more research online I am so glad I didnt fall for this trap.So I immediately downloaded Avast home edition, and did a virus scan. It found several infected files which I removed. It asked me to restart saying there was something in the operating system. So I did another full system scan and Avast found a few more. I later used MalwareBytes Anti-Malaware which found a few more which I also removed. What a relief. I thought all was good. Until I woke u... Read more

If all goes according to plan, Mozilla might release no less than three versions of its open source browser in 2010, culminating with Firefox 4.0. The next major version of Firefox is scheduled for general availability by the end of 2010. Of course, this is nothing more than a preliminary estimate of the delivery deadline for Firefox 4.0, and an optimistic one at best. The fact of the matter is that, Firefox 4.0 could also slip into early 2011, which would leave just two releases of the browser in 2010, namely 3.6 and 3.7.

At the start of this week, the number of Firefox 3.6 Beta Testers was approximately 600,000, but expected to lower over the holidays. Mozilla shipped the fifth Beta build last week, introducing more than 130 fixes over Beta 4. Firefox 3.6 Beta 5 is currently available for download for early adopters. At the same time, the company is laboring to produce the first Release Candidate of Firefox 3.6. In this regard, testers could be getting their hands on Firefox 3.6 RC by year?s end, although this development milestone could also slip into 2010.

Every day I send out excel documents that I then convert to pdf's. I use the same excel template on each document. The only thing that changes in each document per recipient is the "name" "company" & "email" fields in the excel document.

Question: Is there a way I can get these documents to interface with outlook so that when I select more than one person to receive the document (as many as 30 people will receive the same document), and auto populate the contact info "name" "company" "email."

This way would save me a few steps so that I don't have to pick a contact... type all their info in the fields... send. Select my next contact... enter appropriate info in the fields... and repeat and repeat.

I'm emailing job specific information to everyone working on the same job. I'm sending it to multiple people, but need it to look like they were the only one who received the document. Just like when you get an email about the "deal of the week" that says, "Dear Mr. Johnson, How's your summer going?.... " while someone in NYC gets the same letter that says "Dear Mr. Thompson, How's your summer going.... " from the same sender. Of course the deal of the week changes each week.

How can I make this happen? If there is a better way outside using excel to create pdfs, or a totally different method entirely. I'm all ears. I just need to send the informatio... Read more

I apologize in advance if I shouldn't post here until I am directed to this forum from the "i am infected forum". However, I see nothing written frowning upon starting in this forum.I ran into antivirus xp 2010 a few days ago, thought it had been removed using removal guide found on this website. I even did a mcafee and malwarebytes scan this morning to double check and found nothing. Fast forward to this afternoon. I looked over at my desktop and saw 3 or 4 fake security alerts. Thus it is back.In addition to this, at startup i've occassionally been getting "checking file system on C: type of file system is FAT32". This drive check is done with a light blue background. Takes 3-5 minutes, and then takes me to windows. I was able to put malwarebytes and fixexe onto a flash drive and get them to run on the infected computer(per bleeping computer removal guide instructions). Malwarebytes found 5 "items" infected. This is my parents computer and I would really like to get it fixed before i leave monday morning. I know that is basically impossible due to the amount of people you help here. Infection began 06-21-2010 while on Facebook using Farmville Application. Resulting in no internet connection in normal boot. All attempts to open IE resulted in a page displaying "Internet Explorer Warning ? visiting this web site may harm your computer" There was no name security software but all showed a link to antispyeye.com. The links took me no where. Additionally pc extremely slow and would not launch Adaware and a number of other applications. I was able to connect in safe mode with networking. I work in the IT field and have dealt with many trojan/virus/other issues for years. I have been reading your forums for the last week and today ran Combofix as the last resort. Prior to running ComboFix I ran Malwarebytes/Super AntiSpyware/Spy Bot S&D/SmitFraudFix and many others. All removed various items. Prior to running ComboFix today all scanned and reported clear of infection. Kudos to those who developed the ComboFix tool. I am now able to connect and at first glimpse the pc is running great. I would appreciate someone looking at my ComboFix log in hopes of finding out if all issues are resolved. I also would be interested in actually identifying the infection. Hey guys,
I have had Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Student for a few days (legal bought copy with key, so that won't be the problem) and right away I noticed Word 2010 could not open a .doc file. By the end of the day this problem was fixed via the registry.
Now I am having similar problems with Powerpoint 2010; double clicking a .ppt file doesn't open it in PP2010 and like the problem with Word 2010- you cannot simply change the default in the conventional manner via the Default Programs menu or the Right click> Open With> Choose Default option.
In the end I found that in the registry; going to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.doc and changing the (default) value from doc_auto_file to word.document.8 the option came up for Word 2010 and it by default began opening .doc files.
All I need is the ppt_auto_file replacement for the registry (if it works) in order to fix it and of course anyone else having this problem with Word 2010 and Powerpoint 2010 will at least have solved one or both of the issues!
Cheers guys!

I have a rogue antivirus program that actually is like a virus itself. My computer runs VERY slowly, I keep getting popups saying that I need to run Antivirus 2010, I get the "blue screen of death" periodically, and the computer shuts down sometimes on its own. Also, my history page says I've been to a lot of sites that I haven't been to, when I click on sites from Google such as the wikipedia site about registry editing, I'm directed to different sites (although this doesn't happen if I manually type in the URL address), and removing PC Antivirus 2010 through the control panel doesn't work either.

I installed Malewarbytes Anti-Malware in an attempt to rid myself of this problem, but I can't seem to run it. However, I printed the instructions...which said to contact Hijack This and send you all my DDS.txt file and attach my other Notepad file after running the DDS software. Here are the DDS file:

I have had a terrible time trying to trace down "not responding" in various programs. About 90% of the time however, it occurs in Outlook 2010 and sometimes in Word 2010. I took down the information from the event viewer after the last time it happened so badly that I had to restart the program because waiting didn't bring it back.
Win 7 Prof, SP1. i7, 930 with 24 gig of 1333 Kingston HyperX ram. Several drives: C SSD Plextor and Office is actually installed on a WD Caviar. Neither drive show errors. Only thing I see is that the Caviar is using Microsoft 2006 driver and I haven't been able to find a newer driver. Happens when SATA is set to AHCI and when it is set to IDE.

Thanks for any help or suggestions you can offer.
BTW, I have run scannow and also have gone through my pst files and archived.

I'm running Outlook 2000 with SP3 applied:
I'm having no luck importing an outlook PST, which I created as a new data file in Outlook 2003. I created it as a 97-2000 compatible file.

when I go through the import process, it imports nothing at all... No error message, just empty folders.

This happens when I import from the local machine OR the server.

Is it possible the file is corrupt? Is there a way of checking?

I've successfully imported the 2003 version into another PC running Outlook 2003 - No problems there.. Just when trying to import the 97-2000 compatible file in to Outlook 2000

Hello Sir,
Please guide me through the process of changing Administrator Password of Windows 2000 Server (Where SQL 2000 Server is running having Mixed mode Authentication, with blank SA password). I have once changed it from logon screen (by pressing ctrl+alt+del). But after that my SQL server stopped running (I had blank password for SQL). I couldnot fix the error.

Please tell me both the process, to be followed, while changing Windows 2000 Server password, when the SA password of SQL is (1) Blank (2) is not Blank. Please tell me is there any step to be taken in SQL 2000 Server, after changing the password of the Windows 2000 Server Administrastor?

I don't quite know which forum to post in so I'll start here.

Has anyone ever have trouble signing a VBA project on Access 2000?
(I'm using Office 2000 premium.)

I've done the following:
1) installed digital signature in Office Tools
2) generated my certificate using Selfcert
3) oened my Access DB and went into the VB editor
4) opened the Tools> menu

Result: No "Digital Signature" selection was available. in the Tools menu

Looked in VB editors in Excel and Word…
"Digital Signature" *was* right there in the "Tools" menu.
Just not in Access.

In Access, went to:
View >Toolbars>Customize…>Commands>Tools
and whaddaya know… There's "Digital Signature" right there!

BUT guess what? I can't drag in onto any tool bar or open menu.

Does anyone know what's going on or has this happened to them?
I looked in Office/Access Q&A forum on the MSDN website and actually found similar posts but the only suggestions were to try the things I've already listed above.

I searched the MS knowledge base but found no pertinent answers. The Office on-line help gives little/no help for digital signatures.

Ideas? Answers?

Hard drive error code 2000-0146
Dell Inspiron 1525 computer. Screen goes black after Dell logo is shown. Ran diagnostics available when F12 key pressed when Dell Logo appeared. Two error codes came up during diagnostics. 2000-0142 and 2000-0146 "Self test log shows previous errors" Co-incidentally an email had been received with subject line "I enjoyed you in secret video" Others have had problems after this email, yet I can't find any reference to it on the net. It may only be co-incidence.
I tried booting from the installation disk. Screen showed "files loading" bar then went to the next screen with the green progress bar for a few seconds, then black and soon the hard drive ceased any activity. After a few attempts now the boot from the DVD just grinds away. There is hard drive activity but no progress.
I'm thinking bad hard drive but it doesn't seem reasonable. It is only a few months old. Ccleaner is used regularly and there hasn't been any lead up problems.

Hi There

This is not a macro question. I have been at this for hours now with no success. I have a picture in MS word 2000. The picture is text with a box around the text. See attached MS Word 2000 file. I want to copy this picture into Excel 2000. But when I do a copy and paste, it does paste into Excel but just the box shows up and not the writing. Can someone out there copy it and paste it for me in Excel 2000 and send it to me?? I can then copy it from your Excel spread sheet into my Excel spread sheet.

Thanks for your help in this.

Mario

When working with a brand new spread sheet w/no links- Example: data is input for columns B-E, then data sum in column F.
When updating the next ROW, there is NO formula in column F, once the data is entered, the blank cell assumes the formula from the previous row.
WE LIKE this feature & want to know:
1. How does it do that?
2. How (& under what circumstances)can I turn this feature on in other columns?

A:{Moved from NT/2000 forum} - Excel 2000 formula assumption

Hi Nora,

When you turn on extended formats and formulas, Microsoft Excel automatically formats new data that you type at the end of a list to match the preceding rows and automatically copies formulas that repeat in every row. To be extended, formats and formulas must appear in at least three of the five list rows preceding the new row.

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Edit tab.
Do one of the following:
To automatically format new items that you add to the end of a list to match the format of the rest of the list, select the Extend list formats and formulas check box.

To prevent automatic formatting, clear the check box.

Hope this helps.

Whenever I launch Outlook 2000 the Office 2000 installer also launches.

I installed Office 2000 on this machine several months ago, and Outlook has run without any odd behaviour.

It also happens any time I click on a new email.

Although I installed iTunes 2 days ago, today is the first time Outlook has behaved in this way.

I'm running Win XP with SP1, and I've scanned with AVG, Spybot and Ad-Aware, with nothing negative being reproted.

Help! I would like to convert to computerized recordkeeping. The only software available to me is Office 2010 suite. I have created an Access 2010 budget database that includes purchases, vendors and users. I also have created an Excel 2010 spreadsheet with beginning budget amounts and purchases that works very much like a checkbook. However, I don't want to have to enter information in both. Early next week, I have to produce a report that shows what percentage of our available budget we are spending on a vendor. This report will be used as a visual to ask for more money. Any suggestions on the best way to do that for a someone who is not familiar with VBS or SQL or any other real techno language?

A:Access 2010? Excel 2010? or both?

If all of the information is in Access already just create a report based on the vendors and money spent with each. You can easily do this if the data is set up correctly in the database.

Simple, Login as an admin but in the local machine, not in the domain. You must be part of the local administrators in the local machine. Do it , 100% guaranteed.

Hiya

Is this showing up as two Win2000 in Windows Explorer? When you ran install off the CDROM, did you say Keep Original Settings and Files? If so, that could be your problem.
Not 100% with this, but if you did the latter, then if you try and reinstall it again, it should come up with that option. Just say No and it should install it on top of the last two.

Failing that, is this an upgrade from Win98, or a full installation?

I would like to know if there was a way to forward messages based on content to a file outside of Outlook 2000, like Access 2000 in particular, maybe even Excel 2000. I know that a rule can be set up to forward messages to personal folders, but I would like to know if it can be done to an outside file. I didn't know if it had to do with messages being in pst format.

A:Forwarding message from Outlook 2000 to Access 2000

No. Not possible to my knowledge or without VBA.

I think it might be easier for you to set Access to import from the PST file at a given time each day. Of course, you'll have to have exited Outlook at that time or the PST file will report that it is in use.

Cust. has an existing Win 2000 advanced Svr. There are about 25 PCs w/ 2000 & XP. Currently they do not log on to the Svr, but boss would now like them to. Tried, and they could not get onto existing domain. I kept getting a DNS lookup error? To add I could ping the Svr and see the shared drive on the network but it had a red x on it?

A:2000 pro PC cannot logon to 2000 advanced server domain.

Does the server has a static IP address? try setting the server's IP address as the clints DNS server (you just input the IP address of the server in the clients DNS server address in the network properties).
