Hi,

In my jobs table i have a field "Expected completion date" when the actual date goes past the expected completion date I would like a reminder saying you have X amount of unfinished jobs.

Would this be possible? Perhaps a little VBA on the MainMenu OnLoad Event

I'm not too hot at creating a database in Access, so I was wondering if there was anyone out their prepared to help me construct one.

This database is designed to search for property from various locations and from various price ranges, you can also pick the type of property, the amount of bedrooms and have the result in descending or ascending order.

For location just use: Location 1, Location 2, Location 3, and Any
Price Ranges use: 30,000, 50,000, 70,000, 90,000, and 110,000
Type of property please use: houses, flats, and bungalows
Bedrooms use: 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5+

Fill in any data you wish, I think this needs to have a query setup?

I need a reminder for the syntax here.

I've got a field "ACTIVITY", which is something like this:
12345-67-89

And I need to make a new field, with just the center values, the "67"

I know there's a way to do this easily, but I'm either using the wrong command, or the wrong syntax -- I've done this kind of thing before but my brain is frozen up or something.

I use Access for my job and almost everything I know I learned from this book. Hi, new to the forums, love what I have seen so far. I was reading the following question, the code is great , it seems to be the final piece that I need to create a search in Excel. Post # is 1147107

Ok, I'm in the correct forum now.

I recently downloaded malwarebytes anti-malware program. The instructions were good and it worked fine. But, now I can't access my calendar for reminders. I get a generic error message saying "Microsoft Works 8 has encountered a problem and must close."
It does not say what problem.
I am not using Microsoft Works 8, nor have I downloaded or installed it, ever.
I'm using Microsoft Works 2003 which came pre-installed on my computer when I bought it.
I never upgraded.
None of the items in the list of malware found said anything about microsoft calendar.
I've tried rolling back to a date before I used the anti-malware program but it had no effect.
My calendar data seems to be there, and it was backed up, the program just won't run.
The only other thing I use from M. works is a spreadsheet which still opens fine.

I can't find any way to make the calendar run.
I hope someone has some ideas.

Hi,

It has been decided that my computer is free from malware, so I've been referred to this forum.

I recently downloaded malwarebytes anti-malware program. The instructions were good and it worked fine. But, now I can't access my calendar for reminders. I get a generic error message saying "Microsoft Works 8 has encountered a problem and must close."
It does not say what problem.

I have a Works 8 installation disk, but I think if I just reinstall Works, I'll lose all the notes on my calendar.

The only other thing I use from Works is a simple database which is working fine. Only the calendar reminder feature won't run. If I reinstall Works I could lose all the info on my database and I don't feel like re-entering over 1000 files.

I have the database backed up and it looks like I 'should' be able to run the backup file if the original gets wiped.
However, although I have backed up all the files in Works calendar folder, I don't know which one(s) hold the reminder info. I've tried replacing existing files with the backups, but they don't run so it looks like the problem is not with the calendar data files themselves, but something more basic to Works 8.

I recently found that if I right click on WksCal.exe and choose "Run as..." and use "administrator ", I get a different error message. This one simply says that Works could not find some needed files and suggests that they may have been moved or eras... Read more

This problem concerns my father's laptop which runs on Windows XP Home SP3 and has Microsoft Outlook 2007 installed on it. I think my father updated from Outlook 2003 to 2007, and from the very start (since he has been using 2007), he has been getting the following message on opening the program:
"There was a problem reading one or more of your reminders. Some of the reminders may not appear."
My father tried deleting all the reminders, then he tried using a program feature called clean switch or something, and nothing has worked.
Does anyone know what's going on and what can be done to solve this problem? Thank you in advance for your time and answer(s).

You do not need any other program or freeware. If you have Microsoft Outlook, all appointment items have a reminder option built-in. You'll have to have the program running for the reminders to actually pop-up though.

Can you tell me please how can I create a new Query table using SQL in VBA mode?
For example: I have table "Employees" with "FirstName" and "LastName" fields. On the form user would choose to show "FirstName" only, "LastName" only, both and etc...., and the application would display the table with the chosen fields.

Okay easy question for today.

I have a query with a field called "min". I want to create another field that takes the value of "min" and multiplies it by 1.25.

I have tried the following:

Hi Guys,
could someone give me or point me to a step by step procedure for creating a self poplating drop down box in Access 2010 and printing the report. I am trying to teach myself - have so far created a db and a number of tables. One of the tables is for States and is populated accordingly. I am trying to make up a data base for say -attendance at theatres and then printing out a report on Theatres attended, dates, location and movies watched. (I am not doing this for any commercial organistion).

I have been attempting to figure out how to get all the right calculations in an invoice. When I view the sample Northwind Database, I know that the Order Details Form is very similar to what I need, but i can't figure that how they got the order id number to be the same on what appears to be different records within a record.

I am using it for a dentist's database. The dentist may do five different procedures on the same patient on the same day. I want all those to show up on one invoice. The procedures all have their own record but I can't figure out how to get them to have the same invoice number automatically. I know I can search by date, but that could get to be labor intensive.

The same patient may have another procedure a day later that would also need to be added to the invoice.

Any ideas?

Hi,
I'm trying to create an Access database that I can use to record information about various callers. I need to be able to make a report that tells me how many of each kind of caller answered which questions. Example: How many 21-25 year olds, who are males, said their favorite color was green. How many 26-30 year olds, who happen to be female, said they do have a car.

The results have to be broken down using the criteria of age and gender. HELPPPPP!

Hi,

I am running Microsoft Access 2007 on Windows 7. I want to create a scheduling tool in MS Access 2007 but I am at a loss for the table structure. I have a bunch of trainers and want to be able to log their availability and then schedule them for work but have the database tell me when they are already scheduled or not available.

I am an intermediate user of Access so understand most of the tools. I have tried having tables with the master dates, and dates available and dates scheduled and have used update and delete queries that run on a macro to update and alert schedules but this seems like a needlessly complex way of structuring it and not very flexible.

Perhaps a DBA out there could give me a few pointers on the best table, query, macro combination that would be easy to scale up or down. Preferably something that does not require VBA coding (or if it must, very simple coding).

I am a novice Access user. I just recently started using it to create a database for work that will track complaints. I have been searching high and low to try to figure out how to create a custom autonumber field but just don't know what to do. Maybe there is some help out there from one of you.

I wish to create an autonumber that displays the computer's date and generated numbering.
(Ex. 08/22/10-0001, 08/22/10-0002...)

I'm working on a filter to show which Drawing Changes are overdue by selecting check boxes that have certain overdue periods. (e.g. 1-14 days past due, 15-30 day past due, 31-60 days, etc.) I'm not very good at VBA but I'm using some code I have from a search form I used a while ago that has a date filter. I'm confident I can figure out the code for the filter, but I'm not sure how to say what I want to happen in VBA code. What I want the filter to read is this:

If 1-14 days is checked, include entries that (Due Date + 14days) >= Today's date
If 15-30 days is checked, include (Due Date + 30days) >= Today's date AND (Due date +14days) < Today's date
and so on.

I'm using Access 2010 on Windows XP

I'm still very new to Access and databases, so if you can help, please answer as simply as possible. I work in at the reference desk in a public library where every day we keep a tally of how many reference questions we answer, how many exams we proctor, how many documents we notarize, etc. In the past we've used Excel to keep track of these stats and it's been fine, but I thought I'd use this as a way to learn Access.

So, I've created a single-table database in Access with the date and these other items as the field names (I initially set the date to be the primary key, but I wasn't sure if that was screwing me up, so I created a new field as the primary key with a throw-away label like "record number" that I'm not even going to display in the reports and forms). I'm trying to create a query-based report which will display one month's results of what is essentially the datasheet view of this table organized by the date. So for example, when I run the report I might input "09/2009" and I will get a table that shows me each individual day in September with our stats for each of the categories listed above, organized ascending by the date.

The query is giving me all kinds of problems however. I admit to feeling like a bit of script-kiddie, b/c I've just been throwing different stuff at it that I find on various forums with no success. The closest I've gotten so far suggests using a calculated field -... Read more

One thing to remember about Access is that you must forget Excel to take advantage of how Access works. Making Items Access Field names may restrict how you can evaluate your data, it is usually better to have the Items as individual Records.
Your attempt at the Query is pretty good, although I would probably have split the Date Field in to Month and Year Columns. Also you can leave the original Date field in the Query for displaying purposes.
Are you sure that the date showing as ##### is not due to the column being too narrow to display correctly?
Unfortunately I do not have Access 2007 so I can't look at what you have unless you Convert it to Access 2003 Format.

I have painstakenly begun the creation of a database that tracks people in various ways. However, the only benefit the database will have is if I can create reports that group them into relevant information. Most of the information that I need to report is based off of monthly, quarterly, and yearly groupings. However, I want the users to easily be able to access this information.

I would like to create queries (which will then feed the reports I plan to create) that break the information down into monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports based upon various dates included in the database. I have investigated the sample Northwind database, and it has this great Report dialog box to make it easy for users to gather the information they want. The only way I could figure out to gather information by date is to have Between dates Parameters (a confusing endeavor for some of my users). Does anybody have any suggestions for me to make my queries/reports easier to use for the novice user?

Just a note: I'm not great with VBA, but I do know how to type in it? (just can't write it very well myself)

I just checked updates and saw no such file. But I used gpedit to not allow upgrade offers or to install upgrades so that is probably why. And some fools said I shouldn't tinker with gpedit. LOL

I'm fairly new to Access, and I'm looking for a way to make a search form that has both text boxes and combo boxes associated with fields in my table, titled Tbl_DCR. I want to be able to select certain field values and have either a sub-form or the datasheet section of a split-form display any records that have that field value in them. So if I selected values from two different combo boxes, it would only display records that have both field values in them, and so on. I'm running Access 2007 on XP. Please help!

Hi

I have a report in which i display the dates chosen on the form that runs the report in the heading of the report as a text box.
It appears in the report; but when I choose to email the report as a pdf the text box appears on the mailed pdf as #Name

I have the text box set up so: =[Forms]![F_Payslips]![startdate]

Any ideas how to get it to appear on the pdf?

Hey there folks! I had an issue with clearing fields and that was resolved but the resolution presented another problem. A problem which I have been unsuccessful in resolving on my own.

I have tried about 3 different methods using command buttons and the VBE but nothing is working.

I need 2 buttons: One to clear all form fields and one to clear all form fields then close the form.

I know how to make a button to close a form but I am unable to make it clear the fields prior to closing. I have also been unsuccessful in creating a button to simply clear the form fields.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have several reports from a database that I have built for my boss to see different views of work progress. She currently copies and pastes to put them in Excel.

I'd like to provide her with a button she can click to Export everything to Excel for her. She is not the most tech-savvy, so showing her how to do it within Access is not a feasible option (she'd just ask me to show her every time she needed to do it).

In Form design Mode the Form "Button Wizard" will create the button for you.
The fourth item on the "button sub menu" is Report Operations and on the right hand side the last option is Send Report to File.
You then select the report that you want and then "Output to MS Exel"

i got my new windows 7 computer about 3 days ago and just yesterday i notice the computer was acting strange but i ignored it since i didnt know much about this computer. but today i went to my 'computer' folder and i notices a new folder had been created in 'hard disk drive' called 'local disk q' i remmember i didnt creat it and that it wasnt there since i was there like five minutes ago when i was there to get my picture from my USB, another reason is that i had been there alot since i was suprised that there was no C/drive, any ways i downloaded Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and it proved my Suspicion or dout it found this

I have an Access table with over 100 fields.
I created 3 forms and one subform (all bound to the same table), for the users to enter their information. Each field in the table is updated in only one form (e.g., cannot change the value of a field on Form1 in Form2)
Form1 includes 3 buttons which allow the user to toggle from one form to the other (including back to Form1, since the buttons part of Form1 remains visible even thought the other forms are open).
Form1 is opened in add mode from a Switchboard.
Form2 & Form3 can only be opened through Form1 (by clicking on one of the buttons).
The subform is on Form2. In most cases, the user will enter data into the subform before entering data in Form2's controls.
The Navigation Buttons, Record Selectors, Close Button and Control Box are all set to "No" on all forms.
The only way to close Form2 and Form3 is through Form1, which has an Exit button to (presumably) save the data and close all 3 forms.

At First, when adding a new record:
I would open Form1 in Add mode. The table has an index key, (id), which is an AutoNumber.
Form2 and Form3 were opened in add mode.
I assumed (wrongly) that all the data entered would be stored in one record. I ended up with 4 records, with different id #s, with data from each of the 3 forms and one with data from the subform.
So I changed my code to open Form2 & Form3 in edit mode, linking them with the id from Form1.

Hi, I am at the moment creating a database of information and I was wondering the best way to go about this. I am importing loads of tables from excell to access and I want them to link up for a search function to filter out all datafiles over a certain age into a query you can search for. Hello, I have another problem that I just can't figure out.

I have a query table that I would liek to be able to send as an e-mail. But here is the thing. I have a button on a form that just opens up the query table, but what I would like the button to do, is to make the e-mail pop-up (Outlook2007 at home, GroupWise at work) and put the query data in the message. Basically, when you click the button, I want this:

To:
CC:
BC:
Subject: "Good morning"
Message: "(My query table here)"

I found a code elsewhere on the internet but I got code errors. I then fixed the errors but then the button simply did nothing.

If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

Does anyone know where I can find a templete for Microsoft Access for a "Check Registry"? I now use excel, but I would rather use Microsoft's Access, so I can do better reporting and entering on a form for "deposits", and "checks". Hi,
I have a small problem with Microsoft Access. We have an Access database on our server that is utilized by our company. We have approximately 15 computers that access this database locally and approximately 5 that access it remotely via Terminal Services. Why is it that the Terminal Services users can use the database with more speed than the local users that are directly connected?

I have an Access database that has excel files imported into it. The database was designed to make it simple for users by having a graphical Import button that users click on and the database automatically pulls the correct files. This has been working fine on most systems. I have one system running Windows XP where I am having difficulty with this function. Everytime I click on the Import button I get the following error message

"Runtime error '91' : Object Variable or With block not set"

and then it gives me the option to cancel or Debug. When I look at Debug it takes me to the Visual Basic Editior and has an entry highlighted. I then went to another machine this feature worked on and brought up its Visual Basic editior and looked at the contents and everything looked the same. I am unfamiliar with making changes in this context, but was curious as to whether anyone had seen this before and if there was a fairly easy way of solving it?

Hi all,

All of a sudden I'm unable to access any Microsoft websites. When I attempt to go to www.microsoft.com I receive an error page saying "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I've attached a screenshot with further details. I can access any other website fine, just not MS sites. Any ideas on how to solve this, please?

I am working on a project for my Data Management class in university, and I am required to create a database from scratch and show the relationships and make it work.

I am currently working on a Vending Machine database, where my tables are as follows: Customer, Item, Order, Supplier, Manufacturer. I have made all the relationships that are needed for all the tables to be able to communicate with one another.

My questions are as follows:
- How can I make a transaction occur in Access?
- How can I automatically update my 'Quantity' field after each transaction that has been made?
- How can I make my database flag or warn the Suppliers whenever the 'Quantity' field reaches 50% of the initial quantity? (For example: I have 10 KitKats in the vending machine, whenever a customer buys 1 KitKat, obviously the quantity of the KitKat will reduce. I want my database to warn me when the amount of KitKats reaches 5 and I want it to automatically send a request to the supplier to get more KitKats.)

Hello. Whenever I try to use the Microsoft Access 2007 "Wizards" to help create something, an error message comes up stating "Error in DLL." Sometimes this error causes Access to shut itself down completely. I've tried reinstalling, but the problem has persisted. Any ideas? Thanks!

This will be my first post here, and I'm kind of glad I discovered these forums, they look really nice. I think I might stick around for a while too!

I can't download anything at all from
Microsoft.com
I just did a fresh install, and right after
installation I attempted to download windows
live messenger, however that didn't work.
There was no way it could be a virus either as
it's a brand new hard disk and a brand new XP
install. I can download from other sites,
including antivirus software without problems.
It's only Microsoft.com I'm having issues with.
I also tried going to the windows update page,
and was also met with failure. I'm not sure if
Automatic updates are working, but I don't
think they are.
This seems a lot like that one virus that was
going around, messing with people's DNS so
they couldn't update their antivirus software.
However, I've never had this virus on my
network or any of my computers so I don't
think it's that.

I have a database that includes repeat names but with different dollar value's attached to each name. For example:

I want to create a query that will find a repeat name, identify the record with the highest $ and then delete the rest. Allowing me to have a quesry that shows no repeat names but keeps the record with the highest $.

Any suggestions?

Take a copy of the Table using the "Structure Only".
Make a Query of your original Table using Totals and group by the Name and set the Dollar value to Max.
Run the Query and it should give you the record you need.
Change the Query type to an Append Query and append the data to the new Table, save and run it.
If it allows you to run it, it will do what want.

Hello all.. just a few questions. I just recently started learning Access and for some reason my brain is not wanting to work with me. ;p

I am trying to develop a database for the company which I work for. It will be a marketing/sales database. And I've looked for templates, but none that I could find did me any good.

Here's what I'm working with:
- List of customers and their basic info. (i.e.: name, address, phone..etc.)
- Different products for each customer and that products info. (i.e.: sales person, ytd sales.. ect.)
- The sales person who handles the individual products for that customer.

I'm just not sure how many and what tables I will need to make for this kind of database.

I have a database in access 2003 i need to put it on a machine that does not have a copy of Access, but i do have access runtime. Could i install Access runtime on that machine and be able to open the database?

Yes. The Access runtime is design to allow users that have not purchased Access to still "run" a database. They just con not make any design changes or go tot he database windows.

I normally deploy all my Access apps to run with the Access runtime or with Full Access in Runtime mode.

Is your database split into a front end and back end? I highly recommend this. This is the only way I would deploy a database.

Have you tested your database in runtime mode?

NOTE: Some things are not available by default when in runtime mode. I would urge you to fully test your database with Access in runtime mode.

I am in the process of upgrading from Office 97 to Office 2003.

I occasionally write Microsoft Access Database applications and have the capability with Access 97 to provide a runtime version of Access with my applications (using Office 97 Developer Edition Tools). I understand that with Access 2003, I need to have Access 2003 Developer Extensions, which appear to be available only as part of Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System. This seems to be quite an expensive piece of software which is hard to justify for the few database applications I write. Am I overlooking a way to economically get what I need to have the license to distribute Access Runtime and a setup wizard to install applications that I write that need runtime?

Hi, I would like to know how can I access Microsoft web pages, i can access any web page I want except for the Microsoft ones (no hotmail, msn, messenger,etc), I noticed that since 2 days ago.

I am hoping that someone can help me with what may be a complex question.

I have a spreadsheet, similar to the demonstration file I have attached. In it, there are a range of columns. One set of columns (A - D), shows a list of numbers that are references to items in a store, and it also shows their location in the store, so it acts as a floor-plan. The next column (E) lists those items again to show the dollar amount that those items have produced in total sales (F).

So, what I'd like to do is to add a conditional formatting to show me the "cold" and "hot" spots on the floor-plan so I can see where sales are most concentrated. I would assume that this would be done with a colour scale (using the range of values in column F to work itself out)?

Either way, the figures in column F would change weekly, so the relevant cells in columns A - D would need to automatically change when they're matching cells in column E - F change.

I hope this makes sense, as it's difficult to explain, but any help that someone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for posting this again but was advised to change the topic title.

i work for an internet business which sells on eBay. at the moment we take a lot of phone orders. obviously with eBay it keeps a record of the order on there, but with phone orders it involves so much paperwork being produced and filing, so when customers ring up to query something from a while back im having to go through loads of paperwork to find their order.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a suitable piece of software that i can use where i would just enter details of their order, for example name, delivery address, items ordered and price etc etc. It would ideally be so if someone rings up and asks about a previous order i can open this program, click a few buttons and their order is in front of me.

im not fussed about keeping inventorys of stock levels and all that, don't particularly want anything over complicated, im good with computers and quite knowledgable but would prefer something simple.
another way i was thinking was to do my own "intranet" and have a form on there which i fill in and then it saves it on the computer so me and my two colleagues (which will become more as we expand) can view it.

i also looked into using microsoft access but not a fan of it.

any ideas would be much appreciated!!!

I have three tables

1. Company Name Table
2. Address Table
3. Contact Person Name Table

Primary Key of Customer Name is cusid and the other tables are linked to this Company table by this Cus ID .

I have a requirement in which I have to write a query to get data from all these tables .Now it is easily possible if all the three tables have data for one Cusid ie 3 . But the problem is if any one of the table i.e Contact person name for a Cust id =3 THERE IS NO DATA but has address at cust id= 3 my query fails .I know a join can help me to get data from 2 tables but i am not sure how a join will help me to get this data from three tables even though there may not be data in one of the table.

I have seen there has been a similar problem to mine posted on here (though it was a while ago!) but after reading it I am very confused and not sure how to approach the problem I have!

Basically I can't access ANY microsoft.com website. When I type it into Internet Explorer the screen just comes up saying 'Internet explorer cannot display the web page' the same for symantic.com (though it is Microsoft I want to access). I can access every other internet site I've tried and it is not a Microsoft problem as I can access them from the other computer here. But do not know where the problem is on my PC.

I have a new Acer Laptop and want to activate my 60 day microsoft office trial and look at updates etc on the microsoft website but due to not being able to access microsoft.com I cant.

Please help......I have spent all afternoon trying to understand how I may fix this and am now even more confused!

I recently bought a new sony vaio laptop that came loaded with Windows Vista Home Premium. I'm trying to access my work email from home which uses Microsoft Outlook Web Access but it doesn't seem to work. On my old laptop with XP it loaded fine. But with my new computer I can't get my email to load. Am i missing a plug-in or something? Is there some other software that i need to run microsoft outlook web access via IE?

I don't even know if I have this under the correct posting. I don't know if this is a security problem or suppose to be with Web & Email.

I am currently using a laptop with Windows Vista and IE 8. Now when I had IE7 there was not a problem but was using Win XP as well. Trying to access my work email from home. We use Microsoft Outlook Web Access provided by Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. I will log in fine but then it all goes down hill from there.

Lets say I have 3 emails. When I click on the sender it will show me the subject of the email. Once I double click on the subject, another window pops up and says that I have been logged out and need to log back in. Though the original screen is still open. I will log in and read the email. If I try to delete it, a pop up says I'm logged out and have to log back in. If I try to reply, I can type my message but if I try to send it, I am logged out and have to log back in. All the while the original screen is still open. I log in, I send and move on to the next person's email. Double click on the subject, have been logged out and have to log back in. This really gets annoying when you have 13+ emails a day.

Now I did ask my company's "IT Person" and he says "we are aware of the problem and it's a compatibility issue between IE 8 and Microsoft Outlook." No ideas as to how to "fix" the problem, nothing.

I've been improving the design of an Access database that I created some time ago. One of the MsgBox "helpful info" boxes that I added a long time ago no longer applies, but I cannot locate it to edit or delete it. It probably was created in Access 2003, and I am now using Access 2007. Is this the problem? How do I solve it?

Mostly anything created in 2003, you should be able to find in 2007.

Is the msg box attached to a form or report? Did you check the macros and/or VBA code attached to that specific form or report in Design view? Also while in Design view you can check the code for that form/report by clicking on the "design" tab (in the ribbon) and then clicking on the icon next to the property sheet (in the Tools section...far right ribbon in the Design tab) that's a a square w/ blue (bottom left corner), red (top) and yellow dot (bottom right corner) of the square (not sure what it's called).

Also while in the Microsoft Visual Basic window you can use the find function just like in Word by going into Edit and clicking on Find or using Ctrl + F.

If none of the above works, maybe post a zipped version of your database minus the confidential info.

I cannot access Microsoft sites. My computer does not even try yet can access any other site that I so far have attempted. (google, yahoo, and many many others) It doesn't hang or try to load, it instantly says "Internet explorer cannot display this webpage" I have done a complete re-install of Windows XP and yes, I formatted the drive beforehand and the problem persists. I also reset IE8 to default settings under the Advanced tab.

I've a good internet connection via a dlink n. No problems with firefox V3.6.3 or IE v6 browsing save for Microsoft sites, which are installed on an older Toshiba laptop running xp and service pack 2.

Not that I needed any data from Windows or Microsoft, but I find it interesting that I cannot get any of their websites to come up.

I've just ressurected this laptop which I only used with an offline program that was work related. I thought I'd update via the windows update and found the IE/Firefox message

My computer was fried on Sat, so I did a reinstall because I had zero programs. I reinstalled and couldn't update any windows service packs. So I downloaded a bunch of windows plug ins from the microsoft site until I could enter the windows update service. I kept googleing fixes for the install errors and I think I got download happy and downloaded a registry error fix....I realized what I did and then deleted it from my program files. I was never able to download an updated version of IE and couldn't download firefox either. I could; however, get into the microsoft sites. Now I can't download I.E. and can't enter ANY site that microsoft has. I downloaded spybot and it found 2 trojans. I ran it in safe mode and there were no errors. When my computer logs me in something is running (I think) b/c I get the internet explorer needs to shut down as soon as my icons and system tray load. I'm scared to download anything else b/c of what already happened and I still get the error reporting messages about every 15 s, with IE closed. It is causing me paranoia. I have an HP pavillion laptop with windows xp and supposedly had the sp 3 installed...looks like only sp 1 is installed though b/c that's what came up in safe mode. Oh..here's my log. I am not very tech savvy but I do know how to run commands/bring up the command window and when I have screwed up. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! When opening Microsoft Access, the norm is to have a samller window inside the large window pop up that says the type of data base. Then you can click on the icon inside to open up the database. Well, someone in my office closed out the smaller window and I can't figure out how to get it back. I tried looking in the recent history to no avail.

Hi,
I am trying to set up a field to increment for each new record. I know about auto increment but the way I have it set up their are two sets of numbers. 1 for the group number and one for the Item # of that group. The group number increments when a button is pushed. The Item number would increment either when a button is pushed or the user tabs through all the fields. Example 1-1,2-1,2-2,3-1, ect . I would also like their to be a way that if their is not data entered in a group or field that it can be either easily removed, or give an error that the form is blank and not go any farther. The code attached is in my database but it does not seem to work.

Hi

In Windows 10.x, when I create a Microsoft account for a user, he will have to verify it when he will sign-in (login) on the system to enable some functionality.

Is there a way to create a Microsoft account already verified?

I'm afraid not. When a MSA is created for the first time on a new PC or device, it must be verified for security purposes.

We have been looking for a while for a way to create MSI files to push to our clients. Most of the time when you download something from Microsoft it comes with an MSI redistributable package. The office conversion toolkit does not have one. Does anyone have experience with an MSI builder? We are looking for suggestions for one that works easily and quickly.

I don't know if it supports MSI, but Inno can be used to create executable installers. If that's all you need, you might check InnoSetup and ISTool.

I am using Microsoft Word 2000 and trying to create mailing labels as well as file folder labels. I do the following:
1. click on Envelope and Labels
2. click on labels tab
3. select options and the appropriate label and press OK
4. select new document

I then type my label according to the grids on the screen. However, every time I print the labels are out of line even though they show they fit on the screen. How do I fix this problem?

Instead of clicking on Select new document, why not just type what you want in the label form, put a sheet of labels (you said you selected the appropriate label) in the printer and decide if you want a whole sheet of labels or just one?

Hey Guys!

I've been trying to create a Timesheet for a few days now...and I'm failing miserably!! ...I need to calculate lateness for employees...I just want to punch in the number and the amount of lateness in minutes would show in the following column. I've found a few formulas that help but when employees show up early with the formula I have, I get the following.."############" Can anyone help me out?? Does anyone know of a reminder program that will allow me to set remind dates at least a year into the future and still work if my computer is shut down? Free would be better but I'd pay for it if necessary as long as I get a trial version first. Thanks Dave

Everytime I reboot I get a reminder that I have a burning project waiting for me. Then it says to click the balloon to make the reminder go away.

This reminder is getting tedious. I no longer need it. How do I get rid of it?

You don't use windows burning anymore,got nero or something?
If you open my computer right click the drive/burner you will see a recording tab untick enable this to record cd's. This will not effect other burning programs and should stop the message

I'm trying to create a calendar appointment that would re occur every last Monday of the month. I can't find a way of doing it, but a mate of mine say's it's possible in Mac Mail

Does anyone know a way of doing this in Outlook 2007 please?

Go to your calendar. Open a new appointment on the last Monday of this month and enter the information. Click on "recurrence". Set the recurrence pattern to weekly, every Monday, at 4 week intervals. Save.

This should do it.

Hello, all.

I've made a form with a few records to do with work. I've put information down like name, item, etc. I've added some buttons to it and it all works great.

I've also put a checkbox onto this form called, 'Requested?' And you tick it when you requested this item. On the form, the checkbox is there, and you can tick it, but if you make a new record or go onto another record within the same form, the tick in the check box is still there.

For example: I have Record1 and Record2 in the form. The check box is there and I only want Record1 to be ticked and Record2 to be unticked. Unfortunately, I can only get it to either both records to be ticked or both unticked.

Can anyone help?

Hi all,

One of the user created a office access file , example .mdb on her laptop and she is able to open it without any problem. But when she transfer the files to other comptuers to open it, there is a few errror saying ""your Microsoft Access database or project
contains a missing or broken reference to 'hpqcc3.dll" version 1.0. and so on. When she put the file on the network drive and open it, there is even more similar error message same as the above 1. Is there anyway to fix this problem? Please help. Thanks.

I am using Microsoft Access 2000. I have the database set up so that on the bottom there is a button that will send one page to the default email and send it as an attachment. it worked fine and for some reason that i cannot find it started giving me an error message
An error occurred while attempting to open the windows address book.
MAPI 1.0 [00000220]

after you sent hit OK to that error another error pops up that says
Microsoft access cant send a message for the reason stated in the proceeding alert

the checked the registry and made sure the correct email was the default, i tried using both Outlook and Mozzila Thunderbird. I dont know enough about Microsoft Access to look at anything in there

Hi,

I have created an access database to take orders in and have put it in a folder on my computer so that my colleagues computer can open it to enter orders also. The only problem is if i have the database open, it will not open on his computer. Is there anyway that we can have the database open at the same time? There will very rarely be a case where we're both entering info at the same time.

I have been working away from home on my laptop ( Vista ) and building a large spreadsheet (.xls file). Suddenly , following a Microsoft update I am denied all access to the spreadsheet with the answer " can't locate wksss.exe " . It seems that the update must have removed this file . Being away from home I don't have the original Works disc to try to re-install it. I've downloaded an Excell viewer but this won't alloow me to enter anything . Does anyone have any thoughts . ??

Hello all!

I am working with a database on fisheries catch data. I want to make a sum of fish by species and habitat (so i have for example the number of species A caught in sandy habitat for all 4 years of the study). The data is organized (in decending order of category size) by habitat (6 categories), species name (100 categories), number caught in each net each day the study was conducted (giving nearly 5000 lines of data in the query).

This is probably confusing so i will include a screenshot of the query I am starting with. Also, my software is in French so it is a bit difficult to use some help resources. If you could include screenshots that would help, since i am not familiar enough with Access to know where to find buttons and such just by the name, translated from English to French!

Can anyone try and explain this?

I can have a document open and already typed up; if I go back through it to edit it, instead of the characters being 'pushed along ' either by the space bar or by the letters inserted pushing them along to accomodate the inserted ones, the charaters instead get wiped off ; as I move the characters with the space bar, they get wiped off instead of moved along

I hope that makes sense more than 'clear as mud'

but can anyone hazzard a guess as to why this happens?
